I do need help.
I need help from Howie.
I need help with you, Douglas, over here.
What do I do?
You're too happy today.
I'm just happy, man.
This football season has officially started tomorrow.
Huh?
You said it started at noon yesterday, and the Eagles have done nothings this day.
I don't.
Let me tell you.
You're moving the goalposts.
This guy is unbelievable.
I forgot it.
I forgot it was Tuesday.
What did you think it was?
I was like, I had to cause.
Why is that?
Wait a minute.
Because you know, it was talking to somebody and we had it.
Like it was talking.
I was like, wait a minute.
Then we just talked yesterday, right?
So what's today?
They were like, did you think it was later in the week?
I did.
So you don't have your faculties about it.
No, no.
No, no.
You could definitely trust what I'm saying.
No, no, no, no.
It's just like, you know what I'm saying?
When I had these epiphanies and I'm vibrating on a high level way, you kind of forget
what days.
What epiphanies?
They are.
I'm just saying.
This radio thing, these last couple days.
They've been crushing it.
I've been crushing this radio thing.
I mean, crushing this radio thing.
They're cheering you, Douglas.
It's all these fire takes and all these philosophical thoughts.
You have to credit you, Douglas.
Yeah, too.
How do I, how do I, how do I?
Give me my, give me my, can I give me my, give me my credit.
Fire bread on a high level.
Fire bread on a high level.
Fire bread on a high level.
I think this is going to be a big deal for the Eagles.
This is going to be a good, yeah, I feel good about it.
I feel good.
I just woke up feeling well, yeah, I feel good.
Yeah.
How'd you wake up today feeling?
They lost good players yesterday.
I knew it.
You're pissing me off.
No, no.
You're trying to solve a wall today.
You're trying to solve a wall today.
I'm all, like, I guess it's just the old, old player in me.
I'm always happy when guys get paid.
I'm happy.
I'm happy when they get paid here.
Good for it.
Like Jordan Davis.
I'm thrilled for him because he gets to perform for the Eagles.
Yes.
The Colpy Dean.
I'm thrilled for him, but it doesn't hit me to say he's a raider.
I don't care.
Let's go to the right.
Wonderful.
And Reed Blake, it's just a Texan.
It's a Panther.
He's going to Hirschden.
Good for him.
All of them.
I'm happy.
I'm happy.
The rodeo this week too.
The rodeo all month.
Again, another thing that doesn't impact me much.
Hey, how did you make you feel better about the Eagles losses?
Well, Reed Blake gets to go to the rodeo.
We get to go to the rodeo.
Hell.
Okay.
This is lovely round this time.
That changes everything.
Reed Blake gets to have got free rodeo tickets this weekend.
Give him a 10 gallon hat.
All right.
215-592-9490.
All right.
There was actually one thing yesterday that did make me feel good.
One of our teams around here actually put their wallet out and spent some money.
Here.
Five years.
$135 million.
He got $10,000.
I think it's a great deal for the Phillies.
And I think it's a great deal for him.
This is one of those where you see the contract coming.
You're like, that's a win-win for everyone.
For Lazardo, he gets $135 guarantee, which is obviously huge for a guy who hasn't got paid yet.
In the major leagues.
I also think considering there might be a lockout.
There might be a salary cap.
Yeah.
It's fine.
It's a curd.
Very secure.
And I'm not sure what the wave of pitching contracts will look like in the new baseball year from now.
So he gets ahead of this.
For the Phillies though, I think they may have saved $65 million.
Maybe.
If Lazardo goes out and has the season, I think he's going to, which is an all-star kind of season.
Maybe get some Sai Young votes.
I look at some guys like Carlos Rodón, who got paid by the Yankees for years ago.
And their numbers at this stage are kind of similar.
I look at Dylan Seas, who got paid this year by the blue chase $200 million.
Both high strikeout guys.
And I say, if I'm Lazardo's agent, if one more good year, I was asking for that kind of money.
160, 200.
So I think the Phillies got ahead of this, saved some money.
And I just like that we could look for the next five years and say we got Sanchez and we got Lazardo.
Whatever happens with Wheeler in his future, we'll see.
No, let's just cross our fingers and we hope Painter becomes one of those guys.
But at least we know we got Sanchez.
We got Lazardo.
Yeah.
Because you got right now when you talk about pitching, when you talk about what?
What?
No, the could potentially be Painter.
Like you got two and a possible right now.
You got two and a possible three right now.
So yeah, that's good that you got this sign and got that out of the way out of the way early.
I love it.
I just I think it's it's one of Nebraska's better moves.
He's made since it got here was the trade for Hazel Sosardo.
They got him here last year.
And I think it's almost, I think we almost underrate his season a little bit because the overall numbers last year, they were fine.
Right, they were good, I would say, but nothing great.
But he really he had that one bad stretch in was it late May early June?
We got rock two starts in a row.
And I know, yeah, I know you can't take away those starts.
It happened.
But if you look at his numbers before then and then what he did after that, he was awesome.
So if he's if he could just kind of smooth out the bumps, I think he's going to be an all-star kind of pitcher.
I'm glad he's going to be here smart move by the Phillies.
Well, yeah, I haven't been able to say this about Dave Dabraski a lot this off season.
Good move.
Smart move.
I'm happy he did it.
Kyle, what are you feeling on Lazardo?
Well, I think it's probably like the best possible time to sign him.
Yeah.
If you like me believe that he's going to have, I guess a quote unquote breakout season.
I know it was good last year.
But like if you think that he's going to finish top breed Sai Young voting, then this is,
I mean, then this could become a steal, almost like the Christopher Sanchez thing.
Yeah.
And it's going to, I think it could, it has potential looking exactly like that.
The other one I thought of this morning was when they signed Wheeler.
I know he was a free agent.
But Zach Wheeler had injury issues.
If you look at Zach Wheeler's numbers when he got here from the Metz, it wasn't that impressive, right?
But he had great stuff.
He was still youngish.
He hadn't had many innings on his arm.
The Phillies bet on him.
And it was one of the best bets they ever made.
I'm not saying Lazardo is going to be Wheeler.
But if he could have a good five years, we're going to look back and say that was smart.
Yeah.
And you know what?
Like for all the bad off seasons in terms of bringing guys in big money guys, they've been
pretty good with getting out ahead of a breakout.
Like Sanchez.
They didn't wish Schorber.
But with Sanchez Wheeler, Lazardo, like with the pitching, they've been good with that.
Well, I'd even say the first Schorber contract because he was coming up a bad year.
And they looked at him and said, there's good baseball left in him and they hit that.
So it's a good one for the Phillies yesterday.
And that did make me feel better.
215-592-94-94.
Where do you come down on all things Eagles from yesterday?
You can react to Lazardo with this as well.
But the defections was yesterday a bad day.
Do you feel good that those guys got paid like Hugh Douglas?
Hugh, can you give everyone a second clue for Hugh's clue today because we have quite
a price.
I think it's the C. Joe Connellan, the city rhythm orchestra, Philly Sports, put some
music Saturday, April 18th, 730 PM.
I'm going to be there.
Come out and say hi.
The Keswick Theatre England side for tickets, Joe Connellan.com, Hugh, what do you got
for a second clue?
My second clue is, y'all ready for this one?
It's a good one.
It's already.
It's a state.
So this is a place you've always wanted to go.
Yes.
And it's a state.
Yes.
Ah, you know what?
Ah, that's kind of interesting.
It's the clue.
It's only 50 of them.
That's right.
There's phone calls on us.
Ah, yeah.
We could roll through 50.
See how long it takes to get there.
Let's go.
All right.
So there's clue number two.
It is a state.
Jim.
In Belmars up.
What's up, Jim?
Hey.
Good morning.
Happy Tuesday.
Happy Tuesday, Jim.
It is Tuesday.
Hugh wasn't sure what day it was, but it is Tuesday.
It is absolutely Tuesday.
So I'm calling to hopefully back you off of the ledge about the Eagles losing yesterday.
Okay.
I mean, if you take it as a like one day event where you either win or lose, you are
absolutely right.
We lost yesterday.
But one day does not comprise a season.
One day does not comprise a, what do you call it?
An event in continuity.
Right.
The off season is not over for sure.
Absolutely.
So bear in mind that we have a Super Bowl winning defensive head coach essentially.
Right.
And he's not going to let anything that how he gives him off of the hook just because he's a
rookie or he's untested.
He is going to demand the best out of that player.
And the people on the team that you already signed like there's that bonds and your Jacobi's.
And so pardon me, I'm not going to Jacobi's, but they're not going to let a rookie get off
of the hook.
They're going to hold him to the highest standard possible.
And they're going to make him be the player that he needs to be fair.
But you can only, your rookies are going to make mistakes.
Vic Fanzio last year said for every rookie you start, he thinks it's a loss.
He said that last year.
He almost counts an L on the schedule for every rookie you start.
Just because those guys are going to make those rookie mistakes.
So Jim, while you're right, last year, the Eagles got better when they put, when they put
you a hot Campbell on the bench for Nicobie Dean.
They're defensive.
They're defensive.
They're defensive effect got better when Marcus Epps came in for Andrew McCuba.
So now those two guys, and I, I hope they take a leap and they're ready.
They have to play.
So now we're counting on guys that have not proven it to play.
And that, that's just adds uncertainty to the whole thing.
Right.
But it's not the finished product.
Not yet.
I mean, even Reed Blankenship got burned long during the playoffs.
Not impossible.
There's plenty of good players out there.
We have to expect that they're going to do their best and we're going to rely on the head coach and the defensive coordinator.
It's how we season.
When it's a start.
It is how he's right now started at 12.
I guess they have inside a player again.
He made a move.
The process is not over.
The process is not over.
And I have to add something before I get off my U.S. point, which is actually I'm off my U.S. point.
I have to point out that the world baseball class guy watched last night.
And it was two undefeated teams probably going to go into the finals Mexico and America.
Yeah, I watched it too.
And dude, that's that's played by DeWitt in the third inning was stunning.
The Bobby with the Bobby with play.
Jim on that.
That was a good stretch by Bryce at first base two to make that play to help him make that play.
Yeah, I know.
It's not just that, but I mean there's more to it than it's a pride to me.
I guess I'm still in the Olympics mode.
But to see all of the players from the National League and the American League just coming together and playing their guts out, amazing.
And if anybody needs to tune into like a good baseball tonight, yeah, America undefeated going up against Italy and Arinola.
I know.
How do we think Noah is going to fare against judge and and with and Harper and Schwarber?
No, I'm not.
I'm not going to show.
You think Noah's going to show up.
I hope the United States blasts gold tonight, Jim.
We got to win this thing.
Jim, what do you got for us?
And for Hughes' clues.
I'm thankful for the clues.
No, I'm thinking.
I'm making nervous.
My fault.
I mean to make it.
It's okay.
It's all right.
No.
The way I remember it's a Midwest state.
It's not a Midwest state.
Something along these lines.
Maybe West Virginia.
You know what, Jim?
It's a good guess.
West.
I wouldn't count West Virginia in the Midwest.
No, no, no.
Well, definitely not.
No.
I like how he thought he workshoped it though.
Well, it's a Hughes clue.
It must be a Midwest state.
That's not actually in the Midwest, West Virginia.
Not it.
But in a way we workshop put that thing in there.
I have enjoyed watching the World Baseball Classic.
It's been fun so far.
I'm excited to see how it goes through the next few rounds and all that.
And the America team and the Dominican team are loaded.
I expect those two teams to both.
I mean, if I had a guess, I think they're going to play.
We're going to head up.
I would like to deal with Canada.
Their lineups are wild.
Yes.
Their lineups both are so deep.
Eric and California's up.
What's up, Eric?
Hey guys.
Hey Eric, what's going on?
I can't believe we're going to get eight million for Reed.
Like he was a captain.
I mean, 30 million for Phillips.
That was too much.
But I don't know why we couldn't put together eight million for one half of the exciting whites.
You know, Eric, the kind of contract that Reed got.
My thought on was my thought on it was they could have done that.
That was in an outrageous amount of money.
You could have upgraded.
Yeah.
Yeah, they didn't want to pay him.
As bad bad day, I say we lost it too much talent.
I have a guess for the for the state for a Hall of Fame.
Hall of Fame Hughes clues.
Yep.
What do you got?
Is it South Dakota?
Because you want to see Mount Rushmore?
I heard he's on the Mount Rushmore of Eagles.
It's a whoo.
You think he was a Mount Rushmore Eagle?
Oh, without without a doubt.
Who would be on your Mount Rushmore?
So you got Hugh.
Who else?
Ryan Dawkins.
Okay.
Nick Falls.
Yeah, that's right.
I'm very partial to do stailing.
Okay, what's for?
We got to stop.
We got to stop there.
Eric, good phone call.
Not it.
Not this South Dakota.
I appreciate it, but that's Mount Rushmore.
It's kind of bad.
I appreciate it, though.
You're saying that you didn't like his Mount Rushmore?
I mean, that's not as bad Mount Rushmore.
Yes.
I think it may be Reggie.
Reggie's, Reggie's definitely there.
Not, too.
No.
You know, doose my guy.
No.
Doose me and do saying we ain't on the Mount Rushmore dawg.
I mean, you might as well just take that compliment, though.
He's trying to put it in here.
I appreciate it, but it's putting you on the Mount Rushmore.
I like to live in reality.
What do you?
Yeah, I do.
I listen.
I'll buy and listen.
The way I be vibrating on the high level and be dropping these seeds
and knowledge.
What seeds?
These seeds I dropped today.
What seeds?
The Kobe Deans rich.
Be happy for it.
Be happy for it.
Wonderful.
Reed Blankenship gets to go to a rodeo.
Be happy for it.
Go to the rodeo.
What is Giano Phillips going to do that in Carolina?
Yeah.
What do you do down there?
Go to the lake.
Go to the lake.
They got, they got, they got, they got lakes.
You know, I'm thinking of South Carolina.
I think more of the ocean.
My bad.
Outer banks, maybe?
Yeah.
I think of South Carolina.
Okay.
Let's go to John and Allen Town.
What's up, John?
Hey, John.
What do you think, everybody?
I ask how Paul's is running.
A thing that you want to be out here running these seven-minute miles
with me.
Oh, you do a seven-minute mile?
Hold up, go for it.
Seven-minute mile.
That's no joke, John.
You better put, you better put 23-mo minutes.
I run.
I run a little bit slower when I'm in the woods.
That's where I'm at.
Hey, John.
I'm coming.
You better, you better, you better get me 23 or an hour, 45, about 45.
25 for a mile?
No, you can do more than that.
Come on now.
Come on now.
No, not no more.
I haven't ran outside in a while.
I could probably do it if I ran both tours.
It's not a fact.
I was thinking about doing the broad street.
Yeah.
You told me it was 10 miles.
He backed out when I told him.
I do broad street every year, but I tore my killies there last year.
Oh, man.
I didn't do it this year.
Well, I mean, so if you're running out, that means the killies
is back up and good to go.
Yes.
If you run a seven-minute mile, man, you, you, you, you ain't got no
to worry about.
I ran that, I ran that broad street in an hour and 15 minutes
last time.
Wow.
Yeah, I told you it would take me about three.
That's pretty impressive, John.
John.
It was in the rain, too, so.
Yeah, I was nasty less.
What do you think on the Eagles?
So, I want to explain something there.

The eagles had a bad day yesterday.
We had a bad day yesterday, but sustained greatness is not what you get in the NFL anymore.
You have sustained goodness and then you have moments of greatness.
Right now, we're in the goodness part.
Carpooling, reloading.
This year does not matter.
It's next year.
It's going to be a two-year process to reload this team and be a Super Bowl contender again.
John, I agree with you.
He was saying, talk to me like I'm going to disagree with you.
John, I agree with you.
I think he's with us, but not realizing he's with us.
I think he's right.
I've been saying that all day.
Okay.
Relevant.
But they're not when the Super Bowl at this rate next year.
They could.
Very unlikely.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
They definitely could.
Not when I'm watching the Niners and Rams load up in the same conference.
They're trying and we're not.
The Niners have probably been more sustained, but they got decimated with injuries.
Right.
They got decimated with injuries.
Seattle Lightning in the bottle.
Lightning in the bottle.
Well, the Rams, the Rams.
The Rams, the Rams.
The Rams just got two star corners.
I feel like we're right there with the Rams.
I'll tell you what that pass was.
They got right now.
It's getting.
They're rosters better.
It's getting better.
John, I think you're right.
I think we're in a transition from great to good.
And that's okay.
Because I think how we will get us back to great.
It's just.
Exactly.
Yeah.
That's right.
That's your.
Yep.
I can tell you.
I tell you what.
We're.
Jalen went down the South Carolina.
They went down there to suck.
Because that's what they do.
The Panthers.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They definitely overcame.
Archon.
What do you got for us?
Hughes clues.
What state is he talking about?
Dude, I don't even care.
I don't want those tickets.
Oh, well, you're missing.
I will give them to someone else.
That's all right, John.
John, we appreciate you.
This respectful was a little rude.
It was.
It wasn't crazy.
Yeah.
No reason for that.
But I mean, he did say he wanted to play.
So it's okay.
It's all right.
I do agree with his larger point on the Eagles.
I think we're seeing a team transition from great to good.
And that's.
You can accept it or you could be frustrated or you could just, you know,
you could have a day of motion.
You want.
But that's what's happened over the last two years.
I think you're in striking distance and anything can happen.
You strike.
You get how to do right time, man.
Anything is possible.
Is that really how the NFL works anymore?
I think it's changed.
I think it does.
I think it does.
And I think that when you talk about that first Super Bowl,
that's exactly what happened.
When you talk.
No, they were the number one C.
They were the best team.
I think you're talking about this like this baseball.
Just getting the two.
They were the best team.
You know, when you talk about, when I, when I think about the,
the island of misfits toys and the guys that were like,
like castoffs and the fact that Nick foes got hurt.
No, excuse me.
Carson.
Carson wins got hurt that year.
And Nick foes came in.
The Atlanta Falcons had just wasn't at the year they just came from the Super Bowl.
We're trying to get back.
Yep.
And the ball, if that ball doesn't bounce that way off of,
they lose.
Yeah.
Oh, no, it was a.
Oh, can.
Yeah.
The safety.
Right before half time.
You don't know what's going to.
You don't know what's going to.
You don't know what happened.
They probably would've lost the game.
You see what I'm saying?
So you get hot at the right time.
Anything is possible.
So you have to stay relevant.
That's the thing.
And I think that the Eagles are doing that.
I just, I guess I see it differently.
You got it.
You have to have a great roster to go in the Super Bowl.
You got the brain.
So we got, we got one.
We got one.
He's going, they're going fixing.
He's going to have a great year this year.
And he's going to take us to the problem.
If you're telling me that this season,
he's going to go back to greatness.
Guys, we're, we're not, it's not half.
This happened.
He has played great once in five years.
And I think that's why they brought the three OCs in here.
The three, the three OCs that they were cast off.
And the one guy got the job.
You man.
And you know that he, everybody was vying for this job.
But they said no.
All of them candidates.
They didn't want them.
They wanted him because he was the guy that's going to make this thing go.
I, I've watched show and hurts play a lot of football back to Alabama and Oklahoma and the Eagles.
And when there is a lot of talent around him, he is more than capable of raising his game
in the biggest games and winning.
But that, that requires a lot of talent around him.
And we are losing talent.
That, that is undeniable.
AJ still here.
AJ still here.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We'll see heavy stays here.
But they're losing talent.
I mean, that's happened two years in a row.
They've been rated by, by free agency.
It's, it's a reality of kind of where they were.
They had so many great players couple years ago.
I think we all realize they're working to keep all of them.
But yesterday was not a good day for legal.
I guess one, one thing someone said stuck with me.
The, the off season isn't over.
But you know what I view yesterday as a loss like we played a game yesterday.
We're like, when we come in here on Mondays after a game, if they lost,
does anyone care that they have more season ago?
Not really.
They lost yesterday.
I view yesterday as an L for the Eagles.
Now, it doesn't have to ruin the season now.
Every year we're going to lose, I don't know, three, four, five, six games depending on the season.
But yesterday felt like a loss for the Philadelphia Eagles.
And, and they have work to do now.
And I think they even more work to do this year than they did one year ago.
Let's go to Joanna and Drexel Hill.
What's up, Joanna?
Hey, good afternoon, guys.
Hey, Joanna.
Well, I want to look at this in a different perspective.
I agree with you.
It wasn't a good day yesterday for the Eagles.
So that I think we could all say is true.
However, was any of us surprised?
Was any of the ones that left?
We all thought they were going to be, right?
No, I was surprised.
In a vacuum, I wasn't surprised.
I wasn't surprised.
No, I called it yesterday.
They most people called it.
I called it.
I was surprised.
I was surprised.
I was surprised.
I was surprised.
I was surprised.
I was surprised.
I was surprised.
I was surprised.
I was surprised.
I was surprised.
I was surprised.
She wasn't rated that well as a safety.
She actually was rated last in his passing coverage.
And mediocre in the past rush coverage.
So, is he going to be overpaid?
Probably a little bit.
The only one I wish they had a five found a way to keep with an Achilles B Dees.
That's the only one I wish they could have found some sort of a way.
He's been hurt several times too, so is that going to be part of his career?
Who knows? We don't know.
And Joanna probably will be. Unfortunately, the players that have a lot of injuries tend to keep
getting injured. So I hope he doesn't, but it certainly could be a part of his career.
It could be a part of his career. Now, the one thing I will say is the Eagles are one of five teams
yesterday that didn't sign a free agent. I was talking to Kyle, Seahawks being one,
Broncos being another, Packers. Does that mean that they're going to be great this year?
They may be taking a step back this year. I don't know.
From my perspective, I'm looking at 2027. It's going to be the year where they're going to make a
big leap in free agency and a big leap in the draft. Now, he's got nine picks. We have to see
what he does. If he trades AJ Brown and he gets a number of picks, is he going to move up and
get this exemplary player that everyone's going to go, wow, that's wonderful. This is going to be a
season game changer. I don't know, but I don't want to say the sky is falling today because I don't
think any of these players that left, we all knew they were going to leave. We really all knew it.
It shouldn't be a surprise to any of us. I think the hurt is, while they're leaving, it would have
been better if we could have said, oh, well, at least the Eagles signed this perfect for that.
Yes, yes. I think that's, I think the way you frame the therapy end is kind of how I,
because you're right. I'm not totally surprised by any of them, but I just was hoping we'd have
something back, you know, kind of the ledger would even out, right? We would lose those three,
but we'd have this person. And then we could kind of foresee them in Eagles, you know, from
we didn't get that. All right, Joanna. What do you got for us for Hughes clues? What state is he
talking about? What scene is he talking about? I'm going to take a role of the dice that I'm
going to see Montana. Montana. That's not a bad way. I do want to go to Montana, but that ain't,
that ain't that's not the one for today. All right, two, one, five, five, nine, two,
ninety four, nine for your phone calls coming up here. I think yesterday was a bad day for
the Eagles. A loss if it was a game. They lost yesterday. I mean, you could spin and it wasn't a
bad loss. And then that's kind of what it is. Hughes spinning it as, eh, it's not a bad loss.
Yeah, but it's a loss. It's in all yesterday. Start starts Wednesday now. It starts with birds
town hall tomorrow, by the way, at McGurkston Horsham. Also, we will recap what happened yesterday
