Pierce Joins Eagles, Bolstering Crowded Backfield

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Running Back Damien Pierce to a one-year deal this week,

bolstering their backfield with another physical runner.

At 5 feet 10 inches and 215 pounds, Pierce matches the build of teammate Tank Bigsby, who

stands 5 feet 11 inches at the sound.

Same weight.

Both bring a hard-hitting style that grinds out tough yards.

Pierce and Bigsby go way back, facing off in the southeastern conference during college.

Pierce at Florida, Bigsby at Auburn, then clashing again in the AFC South with Pierce

on the Houston Texans and Bigsby with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Now United in Philadelphia, Pierce has praised Bigsby's talent and potential, calling

the Running Back group stacked with competitors ready to push.

Each other, fans pushed hard for more carries from Bigsby last season, but coaches held

him back, especially after landing Sequan Barkley.

Bigsby still managed 344 yards on 58 rushes for a strong 5.9 yards per carry average and

two touchdowns, including a standout 104 yard game on just nine carries against the New

York Giants.

Backups like Bigsby, Will Shipley and AJ Dillon saw a limited action behind Barkley, with

Dillon even sitting out nine games.

Pierce faces a similar challenge after a rough year, marred by a quad injury.

He played only five games total, split between the Texans and chiefs, four, just 36 yards.

Despite the injury setbacks, Pierce views his career ups and downs as lessons, excited

for this fresh start and filly.
