Oh look at me using numbers like that. I mean do listeners really care about the number of your podcast. I'm so guilty of doing this for 99. But who's right here? Those of us that want to make it easier for a listeners quickly fading memory or podcast critics who've labeled it a waste of good headline space. But here's the hard

3:08core truth. Listeners do not think the podcast episode number is important. They do not. Casual listeners want the title, the guest and the topic. They aren't buying into the importance of an episode number. They feel very late to the party. So the goal for podcasters is to not use those numbers. The topic is your lead. Your title should be an identity and vibration. Your listeners are endlessly asking is this a conversation for me? Do I even like this host? Will this podcast make me feel something? That podcast episode number only becomes interesting with listeners who are invested in the entire project. See the goal is to create something that is absolutely timeless and available to be discovered at any date later on in life. Do we need to go back and remove those podcast numbers? Not really. Podcast listeners don't give a crap. Your mic should fit your voice and if it's a cheap knockoff from the guitar center, used on a drum kick, perfect. Listeners want clarity, consistency, personality, emotional connection and absolutely no distractions. I don't need Drake and the weekend with auto-tune or correction features. Listeners endlessly prove they are more forgiving about unperfected audio versus a boring conversation. The listener remembers voices and moments that were created by sounds in the background, things that took them completely away from the subject.
