Cody Ponds, the Toronto Blue Jays newest pitcher, crushed it in spring training.

He threw 13 and 2-thirds innings, racked up 12 strikeouts and posted a tiny 0.66 ERA.

Now his next outing head straight to the regular season. Ponds hasn't pitched in the majors since

2021. Back then, he struggled as a reliever for the Pittsburgh Pirates, getting hit hard by

batters. He bounced back overseas, spending three years in Japan before dominating the Korea

baseball organization last year. There he went 17-1 with a 1.89 ERA plus 252 strikeouts

over 180-2-thirds innings. To snag league MVP, the Blue Jays locked him up with a three-year deal

worth $30 million. Ponds boosted his fastball speed and added a sharp change of during his time

away. All signs point to Ponds shaking up the league right out of the gate this season.
