2:14of extra inning. So that is where we will start tonight's Postcast. That's what you'll be talking about. So much for boring baseball in the month of September for a team that isn't in a playoff race because the New York Metz dialed up the drama, the chaos, the wildness in this one. And it all started in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Metz having a three to two lead, sending things over to Code Isenga to try to make it what eight for eight in save opportunities as the Metz closer. But baseball sometimes can be a cruel and funny sport. And that is exactly what it was when Peter Langso hit career Homer number 300 to tie this game at three. The excitement on Peter Langso's face, the throwing of the bat, the excitement from those that were in attendance. He got a curtain call from the Metz fans there in attendance.

3:15I shared my thoughts on some of the chance in reaction to Pete's return last night. And so I'll kind of leave those comments as my overall thought. I'll just say this, you pay your money, you buy a ticket, you're allowed, you're entitled to do whatever you want in the ballpark. It felt a little weird to me to root against your own team. It felt a little weird to me and a little too much to get a curtain call or call for a curtain call for somebody that plays for the opposition. I know what Pete means to a lot of this fan base. I know what Pete means to me. That Homer against Milwaukee is an all time Metz moment that I will remember forever sitting in this chair, doing the post cast with all of you after that game. Remember that moment forever. I did think it was a little weird to be rooting against your team in the ninth inning. I understood first game back, wanting to show him some love. And then I think it went a little too far last night tonight. I think was stepped further from that.

4:16So not my cup of tea, not what I would have done, but you pay your money, you buy a ticket, you're entitled to do what you want to do. And I think that moment says more about how this season has gone for the Metz than it specifically does about Pete Alonso. But just I personally did not care for the way that was handled in the ninth inning. That was just the beginning of what was a chaotic rest of this game that Sean and I started will get to him here in a little bit with how he did in this one. I thought it was a decent bounce back performance. Carson Bench hit his 18 Palmer in this one. So we get to the 10th inning and Baltimore scores on a wild pitch and thank goodness for Jared Young backing up that play. Because if not for that, this would have been a five to three lead for Baltimore. Instead, it's only four to three. Marcus Simian is able to respond with an RBI double to make it four to four. And unfortunately, the Metz had the winning runs on base in both the ninth and the 10th innings.

5:19And we're unable to cash in. You get to the 11th. Jonathan Pintaro is on the mound and he serves up a two out three run inside the park home run after getting the huge out. You have to strike out Pete Alonzo, right? He gets Couser to fly out to left runner doesn't move. He then walks bevers. So you've got first and second. Now you have to go after Pete Alonzo. You strike out Alonzo, which was a huge moment in the game. And you think you're going to get out of it. You think you're going to keep this at four to four. You're going to do the thing where you hold the road team to just no runs in the top of the inning. And it's a it's a piece of cake to walk it off in the bottom of the 10 or bottom of the 11th. Excuse me. And instead Kobe Mayo hits one out to center field and AJ Ewing reaches out play. We've seen him make a couple of times this season. Unfortunately, the route wasn't the best seemed to get to get turned around a little bit.

6:24He misses it. And it's an inside the park three run homer to make it seven or four. The Metz get the tying run in the bottom of the 11th up to bat. But Carson Bench flies out to center field. And that's it. We can breathe seven to five. The Metz lose this one. A lot happened there in those last three innings. And you'll look back at the ninth and the tenth when you had the winning runs on face and you are unable to cash in as missed chances. You'll look at serving up the ball to Mayo after getting the huge strike out of Alonzo as a missed chance in the 11th to get out of there with just no runs potentially or just one run if it's a single instead of hitting one to the deepest part of the ballpark. So a tough one tonight for the Metz because they had a three to lead in this one. They handed it off to their closer in code isango who had been great all basically post trade deadline on since being in this role. He was seven for seven before this one tonight. And unfortunately he serves it up to Pete Alonzo and that sets a chain of events into motion

7:26that see the Metz lose this game and unfortunately clinch themselves a losing season with this being their 82nd loss of the year. Still a lot to break down. I know we just covered everything in extra innings but still a lot to discuss from this one. Sean Menaya. I thought had a decent bounce back Carson Bench hit his 18th homer and I thought overall Francisco Alvarez had a pretty rough night and there there was two instances in extras where Francisco Alvarez really kind of hurt the Metz so we'll discuss all of that here in just a second. 11:42Back here on the Metz postcast live on the Lockdown Metz YouTube channel. The Lockdown Metz podcast feed. Chris Schumer here with you as we're recapping the Metz falling in the second game of this series to the Baltimore Orioles by a final of seven to five a wild game that saw the Metz go into the ninth inning with the lead. Just three outs away from picking up a win. Instead it is their third straight loss in this one in wild chaotic fashion. Schumer and I got the start in this one and a lot was made about Sean's last outing. The five perfect innings and then running into the wall in that sixth inning. Bounce back I think in a in a solid way. Five and a third the two earn runs the six strikeouts the two earn runs via two solo home runs other than that. It looked like the Sean Manaya that we've seen and they showed the the stats during the game that as a starter this year. He has been really good in innings one through five as a starter. After that it seems that that's where the wheels begin to fall off. Now tonight he sprinkled a couple of runs over the course of the outing but you think of the start against Miami right.

12:44Five perfect boom all of a sudden a four run innings against him right that's starting against the white socks cruising all of a sudden. What was it back to back to back home runs this one was a little different again sprinkling the two homeers the two runs over the course of his outing. But five and a third the two earn runs six strikeouts made a couple of mistakes with the fastball that led to the home runs. But other than that I thought it was a solid bounce back outing from Sean Manaya Carson Benj hit home run number 18 in this one. So definitely looking at a 20 run a 20 home run season for him as he was one for five in this one also got on base via a walk. Boba Shet had three hits in this game for the the met offensively and speaking of the offense and. And look I don't think there's been a time this season where we've done this but I think today's game in particular may have been one of the worst performances he's had of the season. Uh oh somebody messed up and it's time to let him know with who fudged up.

13:46Francisco Alvarez had a rough night tonight and I'm not just talking about the the old for five at the plate. And one of those was a strikeout where he just got caught looking but the challenges tonight weren't very good. He lost both of them he lost one in in a in a big spot in extras where he challenged a pitch that was very clearly a ball and it was the next pitch that Pintaro through that could have been a strike that you wish you would have had. And so it just it feels like and that was the about to bevers where he walked bevers they he challenged a pitch that ended up being ball three and then the fourth ball. I thought was a strike but the met blew their challenge Alvarez blew their challenge he blew a challenge earlier in the game that's right of their challenges very quickly in this one Alvarez used one defensively you used one that was borderline really close that's right of challenges with the ABS they were out of regular challenges in this game.

14:47I mean we didn't even get to that how Francisco lendora's called out at first base how Marcus simian a little aggressive on the base running but Marcus simian was called out. After being originally ruled safe they overturned the call I mean I could have understood saying there's not enough to overturn were sticking with the call on the field but to overturn it that was weird I mean we were basically 15 minutes into the post guess we're just getting to that part of the game but I thought it was a really rough night for Alvarez tonight in this one the two challenges were not very good the over five the strike out looking now how much of that was impacted I'm not giving Alvarez an excuse but morale dancing off of first base and taking off may have messed with him a little bit but he just he stared at a hundred right down the middle didn't even swing at a moment where first and third base it wins the game. He said wins the game in the bottom of the 10th we don't even get to Kobe Mayo hitting it inside the park three run homer in the top of the 11 so it was unfortunately a pretty bad performance from Francisco Alvarez tonight and he's got all the power in the world right when he when he's putting it all together and drawn walks he's a really good player but still we have the

15:58stretches where he just looks lost up there and you add that with the bad challenges on the defensive side and it just becomes he becomes a negative for you as a team and it was it was a tough one tonight the over five the challenges it was just not not very good. You know the Metz bullpen tonight I thought was relatively okay they just walk the entire pitching staff only walked one tonight it was Pintaro and unfortunately it came around as to score on the home summer would have only made it six to four instead of the seven to four it was at the time. It's just a weird game for the month of September right here you got two weeks to go in the regular season right we don't have that many games left on the calendar and you're so run of the mill baseball game the Metz score in each of the first three innings bench hits the homer in the third to make it three to two and from the third until the bottom of the ninth inning when Pitalanzo hit the home run this was a run of the mid-game ball generic baseball game. Yeah we had those you know weird challenges with Lindor and with Simian but it was a run of the mill baseball game after bench hits the home run and then

17:07Pete hits the the tying home run with one out that's were two outs away from winning this one and then the chaos that ensued after that the Metz now will try to salvage something from the finale of this series to try to snap their three game losing streak it'll be Robert Stockton the per the probable starter for the Orioles is old friend Chris Bassett going for the Metz in the finale of this series what a just a weird chaotic crazy wild baseball game. I mean I have a saying with some friends that you watch a baseball game you go to a baseball game you're going to see something every night that you've never seen before tonight it was Pitalanzo hitting career home or number 300 in the way that he did and everything that we saw after that you just never know what you're going to see when you sit down to watch a baseball game or you go to the ballpark to watch a game and it has been a weird last couple of days for the Metz.
