POSTCAST: Mets Take Opener Behind 4-Run Sixth, Peterson SOLID In Relief

The New York Mets used a four-run sixth inning to win their third game out of their last four, defeating the Colorado Rockies 4-2. 

It took a bit for the offense, who were held hitless over the first five innings by Rockies starter Tomoyuki Sugano. But a Carson Benge homer and a two-RBI hit from Mark Vientos book-ended a four run frame for the bats.

David Peterson got his first win of the 2026 season, as he looked good once again in the bullpen role. Huascar Brazoban and Austin Warren got the first nine outs before Peterson turned in four innings of work. 

On day where the Mets didn't have everyone available, Craig Kimbrel and Devin Williams shut the door for the final six outs to give the Mets a second straight win. 

Now, after beating Colorado for the first time this season, they'll go for the series win and their third consecutive win tomorrow.
