But we're kind of back to being the clutch game merchants that we were for most of the season and

Getting back to like, okay, that's kind of actually encouraging for next year at the very least

This is where I am. We'll talk about PJ Washington playing center for a lot of this game

We'll talk about

We'll talk about Najmarshall. We'll talk about Yokech and Murray going off in this game at insane games for them

But I

Cooper flag we'll talk about him for sure. He had another great game. I want to start here, though

Talk me out please talk me out of this because you've been the voice of reason for me lately because I think I'm having Stockholm syndrome with this team

Watching it day in day out every single game every single day

I think about this the maps have played so many clutch games and this is one of them

The maps have played 41. This has got to be 42 now clutch games

They've played more than Dirk's numbers worth of clutch games this season, which means they've been in these games

Final five minutes within five points now some of them is like you cut it to five and then immediately the team goes on a run

Like this one was kind of like that where the team goes on a run

But you're like close you're not getting blown out. You're not doing what the jazz are doing right now you

Mazda 15 to 26 in these in these in these games, so they have one 15 of them, but they lost 26 now probably now 27 of them

They're without Kyrie Irving there without Derek Lively the match are gonna add a first round pick which will probably not lead to winning too much, but

This map seems has been in a ton of close games lately and just this whole season they've been in more clutch games than anybody in the NBA

The other teams with a ton of clutch games with Houston Rockets the pistons the Cavs this nuggets team

I mean there's some good teams of the ton of clutch games like like the maps just if they need to closeers like all right

Yeah, Kyrie Irving of this team maybe they switch a bunch of those close games and maybe steam is I don't know closer to 500

Yeah, I mean I I agree I think next year they can be a pretty good team. I think this year they're just so fundamentally flawed that

There's the reason why they are losing so many games that big reason why

During the right after the trade and there was that two month long stretch where they were just getting obliterated in every single game that they play

It's really only the last three or so that they've kind of come back to being like oh, hey, they're they're in these competitive games again

I forgot about this, but yeah

They play hard and there's some things that you take away that you like and there's some things that you know

You you squint and you put like you say you plug in Kyrie you plug in Derek Lively and you're like okay

Yeah, it'll be really telling what the front office whoever it ends up being does in the office season because that'll tell us so much about

What how they view the team it really will tell you the future of this team right unless

Coup takes a Herculean second-year leap or you draft you get lucky in the drain you get like a superstar in the draft

It this team needs help elsewhere and it needs a better just being frank better pieces and you know pieces that fit a little bit better long-term

Yeah, and you know who they decide to go after the type of players they decide to go after

Well, tell us whether or not we have a serious front office or not

But yeah, if they make the right moves that they'll be a competitive team to show

I've thought this all season long really

Yeah, and maybe maybe it was that stretch where they were getting beat a bunch of games

Which it wasn't it wasn't like two months straight. It was like I was like I know I felt like a lot of time

They they won it they lost a ton of games

But they some of those games they were they were close like even that Charlotte gamer flag had had 49

That was a close game the Houston game right after that was a four-point game after that

Boston was like was a ten-point game, which is not super close, but it's close close enough

So looking at that stretch they lost every game and it it was bad for a while

Oh, it was bad for a while which is why maybe I'm at this point where I'm like

Okay, well, I completely talked to myself out of like all this team is so far away

They got they got nothing. They're nowhere close

They got they got it to do a bunch of stuff in the offseason. They're not doing anything right

And then they get a bunch of these clutch games like an overtime game to the to the clippers overtime game to the warriors

This this close game against the nuggets

Beat the Cavs team played a played a bunch of clutch games just all season and I'm saying all right

Well, maybe I'm maybe I'm back to

They're back. They're they're close to being competitive again. I'm not saying a title team

I'm not even saying like a full playoff team, but just competitive where

We're we're not looking at a team is getting the doors blown off of them every single night and

They've had a ton of injuries. They've had they had more injuries in this game where no

Daniel Gafford was out and so PJ Washington had to play a bunch of backup center because they played

Dwight Powell the start he played 16 minutes Marvin Bagley played 17 minutes off the bench

So you got a bunch of center minutes. They're just sitting there waiting for somebody to play and PJ Washington played those

Like they they have had they the guard play has been all over the place like we've talked about and just

Has not really been there brain Williams 19 minutes off the bench

NEM hard only twit only 13 minutes off the bench. So look what guards were you in playing?

They're just playing like a bunch of wings all over the place. It's something. This is a wingstop team

It's just all wings all the time all flats no drums and just like

They're they're finding ways to be competitive and

Yeah, I carry to that yeah, lively to that you try to make things make a little bit more sense

And I think just what we've seen from Cooper flag is I think he'll I think he'll elevate players around him

Yeah, and then the question's gonna be I'm like what does the

Point stuff

Do what the helium voice helium voice yes, he just said you start on a helium but fact for like

Like half a thing

Yeah, no, uh, I don't know. I don't like harping on this over and over because I'm sure people get annoyed by it, but

Hey, they put up 34 threes tonight, which isn't a lot

The three watch every single game for us

Because I went through and I looked at this the naps are bottom five and frequency and you look at all the teams that are bottom ten

They're all the worst offenses except

The Rockets who are a fraudulent top ten offense yeah, not they haven't been one in a while

Yeah, haven't been one a while and their offensive rating is completely fraudulent

The pistons kind of similar ish, but also they grab so many offensive rebounds and bludgeon you and then the lakers

We're also top ten and offensive rating uh in bottom ten and three point frequency and they have

You know what that is right we have we we get that we don't need to hashtag out again

But uh and then every other team in that mix is just horrible. So

It needs to be like this wing thing is fun right when they had a game like tonight a bunch of wings, but when

Most of those guys aren't three point shooters

I don't know how sustainable would be over the course of the season

So guards are gonna have to be plugged into the mix and that's where Kyrie's just gonna you know work miracles on this team

Assuming he's here like I think he'll be here, but it is like crumbling if the question

He's under contract and nothing has been said otherwise and so I feel like we would have heard something

Maybe I mean, I I don't know maybe it would have explored something at the trade deadline or I don't know

Maybe they're just waiting for it to be healthy again

But I think from all all things that we've heard I think he's gonna be back on the team next year

But I just I think that this team it had they showed competitive fight tonight like it wasn't 11

It was an 11-1 game in the fourth quarter Murray had 50 yoke which was going for 2020

And they're on the road in Denver

Weird late night and they're like you know what

We're gonna fight back in this game and let's like flag pick and roll over and over again

PJ put back max christie three. It's a one point game with four 20 left in this game

Yeah, I mean this one what we you talked about the low the fake comeback fake clutch games and

But this one was it was a one-point game like you said four minutes left with Jamal popping up and yoke is having the funniest like

I don't want to say bad, but like not that impressive 2020 game

But he didn't well he didn't get 2020 20 20 right almost did wouldn't be in what the fourth one ever

Yes him wilt and rock and Westbrook the only ones with 2020 games

You know, we talk a lot about respect and may I'm paying respect to uh or not paying respect to Kobe

You got to respect yourself got to have self-respect twice it if I do this twice it dilutes it yeah

I don't want to have one more than what than Russ said respect to my ex teammate in a season where a lot of things have gone wrong for the Dallas

Mavericks I walk away encouraged by games like this where they're competitive they fight back they fight hard

And six against the hawks. Yeah

So no turnovers tonight

You know, he's been pretty good at not turning the ball overall year long

But this stretch where the shooting has gone down

But you know the the efficiency and that's starting to take back up for him to uh in recent games

Which is really nice to see but during the stretch. I mean the playmaking has been really nice and I mean you just imagine the

The team adding more shooters over the course of

You know the next several months and then over the next couple years of his career and you start to see

Yeah, where that playmaking can sort of elevate him to such a high level

And I've even looking at right now over the last five games is his his efficiency numbers or you know completely totally passable

I would say

57% true shooting or the last five games

You'll take that yeah, I mean the three ball has not been there for sure

But he's been

Do he's been you know hitting the his two point shots is he's been hit his free throws. I think that helps that too

Just you just think that the player that we're seeing right now

This is the worst he's gonna be he's gonna keep getting he's gonna keep getting better. He's gonna learn his

But similar to yokich where you look at half time and like oh my god. He's got you know 14.7 rebounds five assists

The three stocks at half time. It doesn't even feel like that

Do you ever think that that kubber flag will have a a quarter where he has

Yeah, that's not that crazy and walk in a quarter 14.8 I mean I could see 14.8 and six in a quarter

Yokech had that in the third quarter of this game

Like what? Like because you know during the stream. I had nuggets fans in there. They're like yokech is terrible now

14 how many players do you think I've had more than one game with 14.8 rebounds six assists like just total this season more than one game

And he added it kind of he added in a quarter

He's insane man 14.8 and six. Yeah, that is kind of crazy in a quarter 12 minutes

That's that Wimby Stadlin tonight was crazy to like these guys now that are just like and 26 minutes

I had a 23 points 15 rebounds 10 stocks. It's like what

The the people that are like the though today's NBA the numbers are fraudulent

It's because the usage is up for all these guys. Yeah, but they're putting up numbers. We've just never seen

And yeah, no numbers. We've never seen the stocks thing if we could go back and and count stocks for will and for Kareem

Yeah, it's the it's the numbers with the efficiency because that was the thing with those guys back then is the efficiency wasn't where it is today

Well and the speed of the game, especially like yeah, especially really early on in the NBA the speed of the game wasn't even faster than it is now

So the rebounds were just like flying all over the place makes you think 30 years from now what

What we're gonna be seeing when Victor Wimby now my juniors out there and

You think Adam Silver will still be in charge of the NBA in 30 years

I mean, we'll just be lucky for not in a bunker from 30 years

It's going to be some kind of like VR augment it'll be a

It's like you just see all the different things he can do in that fourth quarter run

So let's get there first first first while they're first turn over a game at 731

Which was the same? Oh, I'm happy you said that because there was only 15 turnovers in this whole game

The nuggets had 14 fouls in the third quarter. They're only 15 total turnovers

Yeah, the the second half was a free throw carnival. Yeah, that was wild

But so Yokech then he's furious at the at the refs and then just during the play

He's he's talking to him and arguing with them and then Denver calls a timeout

He's he's arguing with them the whole time out basically coming out of the timeout

He fouls Marvin Bagley off the ball just like standing there like an exaggerated like hey

I'm showing you if I do this to him then this shouldn't then this should be a foul in the other hand on me

And like during that. I was like oh, he's gonna tech that's exactly what I thought was gonna happen

Yeah, didn't get one didn't get one still argue with the ref they're ref stirring free throws

47 free throws in the second half of this game

And you know what the nuggets took only five less free throws in the mavericks

Yeah, no, I'm not saying it was one sided. I'm just saying there was a lot of whistles

There was it took that third quarter took a long time for sure. Yeah, it is like really guys

We're calling it's March 28 26. Yeah, there's a directive in the league where it's like all right guys once March 15th gets here

Swallow those things man. It's now 4 a.m

Yeah, you guys have no idea what time it is when we're recording this that nobody knows the nuggets

This is a team. I feel like people are off of they've had these bad losses

They had that loss to the grizzlies recently. They're you know, they're what 46 and 28 now

They're 11 and a half back from the thunder. They're when 9 and a half back from the spur spurs got their 55th win tonight

It's feels like those teams are just surging the nuggets kind of been left behind

The Lakers have had this surge now. So they're ahead of their ahead of the nuggets

Do we believe the nuggets still could like sneak their way and like have a title run into them?

I mean, I think the only reason why they're even in those conversations is because of yogic

In fact, we've seen it and Jamal's having a great year like that's really it. I don't I don't think you know, they've been hurt and

I just feel right the point now where it's nearly April

And I just feel like I haven't seen this team healthy enough at any point right like and that's

It'd be one thing if it was a thunder situation because tonight was the thunder Celtics game

Was the first time this thought this thunder starting five had played together all year

I think they said that on the on the broadcast with sja door jalen

Chat and heart. I think that's what they said

I mean if it wasn't the first and they've that that starting group is barely played at all this year together

Which so surprised me, but they're the one seat. So like

Whenever we still kind of believe in it the nuggets have had this rough patch over the last 30 or so games and for them

It's just hovering around 500 over that 30 game stretch

But they're just not that impressive

You know, and I think the thing is the thunder are very impressive the spurs are very impressive

And even the lakers have sort of separated themselves a tiny bit even though

That the nuggets are only a game and half back of them. So it's not like they're there's a huge gap, but

Yeah, I mean

I think they get talked about enough because I think most people are just like well when you got yo get you have a chance

If you go get you have a chance and tomorrow is having his best year. That's that he's gonna be on an all NBA team probably

Yeah, well, okay. Well, I guess I guess, you know

You I think you have to be able to turn it on defensively

And I don't think the nuggets can do that. I mean they they shot 50% from three scored what 140 points and

Almost lost to this maverick team

Yeah, the defense is just that no Aaron Gordon Aaron Gordon is their defense. That's it. It just doesn't function when he's not on the floor

so

Yeah, I mean

If you could promise me

Aaron Gordon is a 38 minute a night player in the playoffs and it's healthy

Then okay, that changes their outlook a good amount, but he's just been so in and out with injuries and stuff that

You know

sucks

We we haven't seen how we seen one San Antonio game from them. I know it hasn't been many

They oh, yeah, they they lost to him early in the year and they just played the 12th and the nuggets won that game, but they have two more

April 4th and then the final game of the season, which I don't know if we'll see, but that'd be an interest

That's an interesting one to me. It's like all right. How are the

Spurs that far ahead

It'll the spurs are going to be one or two things is going to be by the end of the playoffs

We're gonna be like oh, yeah young team. We should have known that that you know, these teams always said or should have been yep

They told us all year long who they were like it's not a surprise that either a they made it to the finals or b

They took the thunder

To the absolute limits

They're on pace to win 60 games. Yeah, and I don't think people realize how good this team is dude

We were looking at this on stream. They're last 30 games

Just let's all last 30 games when winbys on the floor. They have a 20

Outscoring teams when 20 points per 100 possessions that that is

The frame of reference here the thunder are like having an all-time great season not not like one of the best of all time

But they're they're in one of those just like this is one of the better teams

They have a plus 11 net rating on the season

Like plus 20 is that that's that's that's just like you're a viscer rating teams

They're so it's you look to February 1st or when did you look back to uh, I did the last I don't remember the exact time

It was at end of January I think okay, that's February 1st

No, it is it is very first

It is like it is five and a half a.m. So yeah, true

Their losses are to Denver by five points and the nix was like a you know a weird game of the loss

I think by like 15 20 almost 20 years. I'm like that. Yeah, there are only losses since February 1st

And like I said when winbys on the floor. I mean good luck

I was looking at this earlier like dude winbys MVP case is way stronger was gonna bring that up to you

He's the best defensive player

And he's in by a ton his impact on offense is obviously undeniable

Right now he's okay, so on fandal right now. It's sga minus 900. So he's like going to win it
