Since the two finalists were Spanish-speaking countries—and since Maria Poumier surprised me by sending a Spanish translation of my article—I decided to inaugurate the KevinAlMaghribi Substack with that piece.

What the heck is the KevinAlMaghribi Substack? Well, since I’m Morocco-based, I thought I’d occasionally reach out in local languages for conversations with local people. The video above is my introduction in Darija, otherwise known as Moroccan Arabic.

Why is my first post in Spanish, which I’m not so good at, instead of Darija or French? Aside from the World Cup article, there has been a lot of interest in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, Spain-Morocco relations, and so on.
