We're running back to you guys. I'm going to complete Jay. Very good. So CJ, start off with the start you guys had and you particular, but just the offense as a whole, I'm pork wants it to get off to a fast and strong start. That was a poor coach Brown talked about it all week. You know, the weather is kind of goby. I edge this week, you know, I'm from Miami. So I definitely like know my first shot when I got here, it was kind of like, oh man, it get this cold. So he was just talking about like playing fast, playing with tempo, you know, making those guys get tired early, you know, get like the weather kind of like affects them. So we just stick to the tempo and try our best to, you know, punch it in as many times we can. Can't believe what coach was talking about kind of gap that got their player pay. Is my opponent here, do you say anything? I'm speaking from Miami. Yeah, I definitely know a couple of those guys. So when I was there last year, they was like, yeah, for you not, you know, used to this no more. I'm like, it is a little hot, but you know, we definitely came out with the wind. So I was kind of chirping at them the day. Like, yeah, this is our, you know, this is our territory. Like, I'm not used to this.

Like, it's not as empty as saying, not palm trees. It's, you know, it get kind of cold out here. So a couple of those guys would kind of trip back at me, you know, trip back and forth. You know, this is all friendly stuff, though. Nothing too, you know, out of the ordinary, though. Getting out of the starting blocks in the first two series, you were just possessed. Just talk about your determination that opening couple series. Coach Scott always tell me, just use a guy gave me, be a tough tackle. You know, I like to definitely shout out, let it brown today. He told me, you know, Roman great pad level, I have great eyes. That's all you got to do. You know, to be any lead running back. Roman great pad level, high by. So I want to definitely give a shout out to let it brown today. You mentioned that pad level. Coach Brown was just up here talking earlier about kind of you learning, you know, getting into the position a couple years about your pad level, about how you need to run the ball, about how hard it can be to bring the guy your size down. Can you talk a little bit about kind of what you're picking up now, but you're a couple years into your collegiate career a couple years into playing running back about just how you need to approach the position, how you need to run against these big 12 opponents.

Alright, Coach Scott and Coach Brown, they get on me every day, every week, CJ, you high, like you're running the ball to high. You get your pads down, you're a tough tackle, when you low, when you high, you go fill everything. And also Drew, General Manager, he kind of set me down and went over a couple of cowboys running backs and just showed me like, this is, this is where I go get you to the next level and this is where I'm going to help us win as a team. So that was just like very important for me to like understand like, I'm a 240 pound running back who needs to be running behind his pads at all times. So that was just critical and just me helping the team, you know, get those third and shorts and those third and ones and stuff like that. I feel like at least once a game I sit there and I think to myself, you're getting tackled and I look away and I'm like, oh, he's going down this time. You're not going down. You got another five yards ahead. What's it feel like when you're in that moment, they're trying to bring you down and you realize I got another three or four yards. They're not tackling me well enough to bring a guy in my size down. What's that do for your confidence and your energy and like just how does it affect you continuing to run the ball, getting those extra yards, making those plays? Well, Coastal always tell me, you know, bleed yards.

Like, you know, get every, get every yard every yard matters tonight. I was four yards short, 100 yards. So I probably need to bleed a little more. But, you know, it just definitely gives you like that confidence of knowing like, man, I could just keep running the ball harder. They can't tackle me. So just keep running the harder, keep running the harder. Eventually, you know, get that big one. So it definitely brings a confident boost to the game. CJ was, you and J.E. in my absence here. I feel like a lot of times you've been out of the pound bag. He's been the bigger playback. You had a lot of big runs. What's that feel like to me? Kind of get the break one, have a couple of those 20 plus yard runs. Man, it feels great. You know, I see a free hiter every now and then again, tackled by the linebackers a lot. But it was just great. You know, just pick, just kind of like still in J.E. And he was kind of still in my game today. You know, he definitely, I know y'all saw that running on that spin move. So we just still, we still each other game and just try to like, we just natural competitors and try to make each other better. All we can practice, we just compete and kind of like, I want to say go ahead each other next, but like, if he make a big play, I'm gonna make a big play. I'm gonna make a big play. He gonna make a big, big play. So just what both of us in the room, we just kind of bring the best out of each other, you know, at all times.

This is team mean to get the bowl eligibility for you. You didn't get a play in last year's bowl. Yeah, it was definitely important. My first two years here, first year we did make a bowl game last year, I kind of watched the bowl game. Just, you know, having the opportunity to play in the postseason with those guys. And, you know, like the Wyatt, Tomas, and Yates, and all the rest of the line, you know, just like, just thankful to have another opportunity to play with behind those guys, you know, it was definitely important to get that one. And the build on that bowl eligibility, especially with it being a bit of an up and down year in the program, can you talk a little bit about, does there a little vindication or a little bit of, you know, just happiness to kind of shut off something negative to this chorus and get that bowl eligibility at the very least? Like you're going bowling and I want to take that away from you guys now. Yeah, they go, it doesn't matter any situation. They go say something, if you do something right, if you do something wrong. So, you know, we try to keep everything in house and we understand like last night, we watched the Gladiator. And it was important to realize that like everybody around the arena, just watching the fight where we don't want us inside the fight.

So, only thing that matters is what we got going on. We happy, then we happy. Like that's the only thing that matters to us. You were shaking up at one point in the game. You know, Coach Scott came out to you and was very supportive. What's the relationship like between you two and what's he meant to you over your time here? It is definitely important. That guy can bring a different animal out of me. He knows how to push my buttons and in a good way that means. He says, he know how to get me ready for the game and get my mindset ready. So, he was like, you know, we still need, like he talked to me, you know, we still need you, you know, as you're able to go, he definitely checks on me first, make sure I'm healthy in the right space. But he definitely can put me into like a different spot, you know, to finish the game, Scrooing. So, I appreciate that meant a lot. Speaking of you being shaken up, then believe the game is perfect. You know, how do you feel now? I feel great. I finished the game, Scrooing. I feel great. So, Jay Zerg is the difference to start the game on the first off. That's a series for you, Grand Prix, well. It is the same thing. It's just kind of like a game flow thing. They kind of made in-game adjustments late. They didn't have really good adjustments early on.

So, starting or not starting or being a second back up, the third, but it doesn't really matter just like the opportunity. I remember my first game, I was the third back and I had a big play in the second quarter. So, it's just kind of a given goal to flow the game and what the, what the defense call and what we call. So, it's like chess all the time. So, whoever makes the next best move. So, it really doesn't matter. Can you talk about what you, the adjustments that you saw them make? How you covered that? Uh, yeah. So, at the beginning of the game, they were kind of like too hot shell. Then late, they started to be in a eight, eight, uh, man box and having only three guys in coverage. And it was like kind of sending a lot of pressure. And we just made the adjustment of, we're going to win the game. That's the only adjustment. We made just win the game. Like, we're going to stick to our plan, still working. We still getting positive game. We just got to shrain a little harder and, you know, run and ball a little harder. Get those extra yards to continue to get first downs, first downs, even touchdown. So, we just kind of like just pull it together and became as one to win the game. It seems like over the past couple of years, this team does best when y'all are getting 1,500 yards on the ground, really just pound, uh, grounded pound against the opponent.

Is there something you think that you see from your position on the field, the y'all's run game does to opponents that helps kind of slow down the other team or helps put the team in a better position to win the game? Uh, you know, the run game definitely takes a lot, you know, by them putting the eight man box, we got an opportunity to, uh, to scratch the ball down the field. I know Hudson, uh, J-Rob, uh, Rod and all those receivers, you know, they made great plays, cold-tailed and all those guys. They made, you know, great plays down the field. So the run game definitely opens up the past game, you know, letting those guys have opportunities to have one on one, you know, because they definitely explosive down there. You know, Rod made an amazing catch in the back of the end zone. And then J-Rob on the fourth down, how do you on the fourth down, you know, those guys just, you know, they just definitely help us too with like running the ball because they block down field too. So it definitely helps us as an offense. I'm very, thank you, C.J. With guys going in, going out, you moving back to guard, you know, coming in, what was that like in the moment, um, having to adjust on the fly? I mean, we're built for this, like, just how, you know, I moved the center and Steve moved the left guard. It's just, we're all pretty much interchangeable.

And we can all play all positions across the board. And, you know, when it comes down to that time, you know, things like that going to happen, and we're ready for it. J-J came in, we've given all of the circumstances for him coming off the back. Yeah, I mean, all those guys are ready, you know, we, we prepare, during the week, during, during training camp for situations like this. So it's not, nothing new to them, you know, guys are calm, cool, collected, they have good composure. So being elevated, being active, being a starter, you know, we're all in the same boat, ready to fly. I know it's a, a next men up mentality, but in real time when that was happening, these guys were going down and switching. What was the challenge for both of them physically and mindset? I mean, we're all, like I said, we're all pretty much interchangeable. You know, like if I need to go to left guard center, whatever, both need to go to center, left guard, however, you know, it's, it's not really like a big shocker moment, you know, it's, we train for this, we're prepared for this. So when it happens, you know, we're able to execute.

Why don't you try that to be making the switch? To left guard. I think half time? Well, coming in, it's a rookie in the crowd in the noise, and I know you said, you guys all trained for this, but what can you tell us about how he, yeah, I mean, he's a man, you know, he's, he's built for this moment. He's done it for his whole life. So, you know, at the end of the day, it's just a game. And we keep on, we keep trying to keep everybody calm, calm, collected, and you know, we're five is one. We help each other out and whenever, you know, we need to, we do it. So he was ready. He was built for it. You know, he's going to be a great player. You're obviously no stranger to Matthew's toughness. What was it like just seeing the way he let this off? I think I, that guy's a warrior. 36 years old, he's taking some hits and some things and some dance. So, and he's able to get back up and keep it rolling. You know, he's still got that fire to him. You know, we love having him back there. Sean has always said after a loss, don't let the team beat you twice. But to have the lead late in the game,

it's all the injuries and not when you describe that level of frustration. I mean, it's the NFL. Comes down to seconds and inches, and you've seen it all through past couple of days and today, you know, and it comes down to the little things and, you know, we'll see him again. And I apologize if you were asked this, but what was it like for you personally to walk on the edge? It was kind of surreal, man. It was nice, it was all emotional seeing everybody. And I wasn't a kid when I came here, but, you know, I grew into more of a man. And these people here have definitely helped lay that blueprint for me and helped me out big time. And I can't thank them enough for that. Now, you haven't looked at film yet for how you feel about the D. I feel really good, you know, saying it could be because, just everything, careful all summer, and OTA is showing up, you know, we stood out ground. We came up short, came up short a little bit, but in that end day, you know, it's a lot of learning from, I see a bright future for us. I think that's an over time drive. I mean, you guys have been stopping them and they just seem to kind of get a role.

Yeah, you know, you know, just something that we just need work on, you know, got to play around better on that and just kind of eliminate the big bass. That's all that it comes down to, but overall, I just felt like we just, just came up short on that. That would be offensive, kind of struggling to find it's hurting early in the game. What did you guys feel like you like to do as a defense team doing that? I feel like we just need to step up, you know, I know they would have come through and have our bags, so I just tell them the offense, you know, we got your bag, you know, just keep going, y'all doing it. We're gonna keep on trying to hold it in the best we can. So out of the visit, go. Oh, it was great. Yeah, I loved the staff here. You can tell it has really good family ties. It's a shock of action. What were some things that you were looking for on your visit, whether it was, you know, talking to coach Norval, skinny, I guess what was important to you on this visit? So, I mean, for me, I mean, like, this was kind of like a big decision for me, where I'm decided to kind of like not fish with the green rest and then from the quarter of the cycle. I can find the place where I can develop the most and then with a good old line coach,

final place where I can face a good competition, not only in games, well, it's been practiced as well. And part of the most important is just finding a good group of guys that are dedicated to any dedicated to it to being great, because I mean, we have a team of me guys who aren't serious about, want to be great. It's wasting time and money, so. I mean, it's gonna be a problem, I'm not big three, but the culture being kind of important to me. Being around coach, you know, hand-to-day, what was kind of the things that you noticed around him, just whether it's how he is, or just what your thoughts of him being around him most. And he's an incredibly detailed guy. And I got that for sure from us. Like, watching him film, like he broke down, just like some gang fun with me. And he also kind of broke down some of the guys that he's coaching the past that are similar to me. And you know, that was, you know, he really just showed how good a coach is, you know. Getting no coach for a bell during this experience, what has that been like? It was good. He's a very passionate guy. And I mean, I love that. Like, a head coach should have it.

And now you can tell how much he cares about what the guys want to program, about the psyche, being dedicated, being driven to when it's a succeed. What did they tell you about the opportunity here as far as meeting a player, your sort of adiposition on the offense line? Well, I mean, they did. They see me at a left-hack when I was, I'll be a good fit, you know, coming in. I thought I was, I was a coach, no go all stressed, you know. I also love the great, off-road sublime in the portal that have lots of risk. I hope you've seen that fill-wise. I mean, I'll be a good fit when it comes to, just like what you guys do. But if the seat does, I'm going to cite the people here. What's kind of the ultimate feeling now about FSU? Have you solved this big experience with them? What's kind of the feeling about them? Yeah, it's, it's a, it's definitely a good feeling. It's great. I'm glad I was actually able to come down here because I mean, there's some calls and, the focus on nicely, you know, in person is a lot different. It's the, you know, the staff here, you're getting to know coach, it's a, you know, coach, you know,

it was a great experience. So, you know, who else have you checked out during this process? What are the schools? Well, I've talked to some others, so I've talked to a, a house in Iowa and A&M, really just, you know, that's what we've been at. I've tried to keep the store, Kelly, I tried to keep it sweet. Probably needs to be 20 months of schools. I mean, that's not the main priority. Are you entering decision mode now or do you intend to take some trips in our engineering? Yeah, I'm going to this, this is what we want to decide. Sometimes we'll put Christmas. Put up, okay? For those of us who haven't seen the Midway Highlights of Midway, what kind of your strengths and areas are you looking to improve? So, shrink wise, I would say probably just move in. I mean, I have a political shirt. I was pretty well for it, I'm a 45 pound guy. I have a good stuff, I fight this evident off film. It's like not to get on my stance as a victim for being so big and just being able to lift people. But at the same time, also does the need to assist in

and hand-place and punch on a forwarding general technique. Because I mean, if you're a big, strong guy, you can only do so much. I mean, you don't have the right to do me, so that's a big reason why I want to have a good old-life wish, so we'll find that technique to be precise with everything. That's kind of why we're looking for as an improvement. Who? Thanks. A lot of low-hours defense, because they always travel. But are we a pro Texas crowd for the most part? Do you guys kind of thrive off that? Do you like that kind of being the enemy? I guess. I mean, you can say that, but we don't really try to focus on the fans. We just want to produce on the field. If it's a way game, home game, we just want to go out there and execute. Four-girls, right. Cameron T. Garabansson, the athletic. If there's a lot to say when you guys all came back and saw Steve DeLine could be in these last two games, we have 12 stacks, and you guys really aren't blitzing the time. It's not even the start. The bench guys can yada,

and just come in, which is what's it been like to see this realises potential and kind of where the counter we have last two weeks? I say we always knew what we had in our room. It's just now it was just showing up. Teams are scheming us different ways, and it's allowing certain players to make certain plays. And I think we got so many guys in the room. We have two that can be ones anywhere. We have three that can be ones anywhere in the country, but they all decided to stick here and grind this thing out with the guys they came in with. And like I said, I think we have a great group who can make plays anytime. When you guys get eight sets in a game, but also a whole other day, they've been called off as a minus 24 rush yards in a game, what is that like? What is that say by the job you guys did? I think it's a great feeling, you know, looking up at the scoreboard, seeing like a negative definitely. But you know, it's just like all the work we put in over the summer

over the season, you know, we've been building this defense to where it is now. And like I said, when we're executing and we're at a high level, it's hard to, you know, do anything with us. Behind the enemy Birmingham, the bot cat. I'm not going to ask you to call out officials, okay, but I do want to ask you, have you ever been called before? Yeah, I think our whole D line gets held, you know, every game. I don't know what the rest are saying or what's going on with that, but you turn on the tape and really look at it. We're held almost every play. So there's something that you can you guys be better actors? You be more dramatic about it. What do you think has to happen for it to get called in your favor one time this season? We can be actors, but you know, we don't really teach them anything like that, but I don't know if it's where I'll, because we're Ohio State, you know, letting things go or what it is, but it's been, you know, pretty bad. I know y'all see it too. It's every play, almost every game.

We got you. I have a thing WBNF. We got a chance to see a glimpse of Coach Day's pretty games each. The intensity that you've seen for them for the last two games in the playoffs. Is that different than you've seen throughout the year? And what does that do for this group before you go out and feel more? I want to say it's different. He's been like that his whole year, but it's just now getting recorded and posted. But definitely when you see your head coach it's fired up like that. It likes the fire and you go out there and do better. And you know, you can't thank Coach Day enough, because he's our leader over this team. When he's like that, he makes you want to go out there and do great for him, for the guys around us. Scotty, we're going to go to you in a couple of hours. Yes, sir. We're going to start with Andy Anders. Andy, go ahead. Yeah, Ali. Texas has a lot of outside zone schemes that you're just once in what's important for the thing those kinds of plays on the ground. And I guess just straightening out those kinds of speed.

Do you say that again? I don't view it again there. Yeah, Texas runs a lot of outside zone in their run game, running schemes. Just what's important for defending that kind of play as it is in the tackle? For a detackle versus stretch team, you always want to talk about penetration, like penetrating the line and not catching, because once you penetrate the stretch, it basically stops the stretch and makes them cut back to unblocked players. So really just attacking this game and not catching. Next question's going to come from Dan Hope. Dan, go ahead. I leak you are in a freshman class with Quinn. Now you're playing against him a few years later. Just what's that like for you? You know, Quinn's my guy. He's a great competitor, great quarterback. I think it'll be fun going against him, you know, trying to get him running around. Next question comes from Kurt Bulls. Kurt, go ahead.

Yeah, tell me, I don't know if there's one thing you can pinpoint why y'all been so dominant. I would think maybe it comes back under the physical brand of football. Do you feel that's going to be the survivor in this game? Who's the more physical team? I would say definitely the most violent team, you know, the team that plays the fastest, executes the most, and you know, exceeds their game playing the most is going to win this game. I found a question will come from Stefan from Cleveland.com. Ty Lee, what's kind of your relationship been like with Ty Hamilton, especially as the season progressed and just how in sync do you feel like you two are playing on a defensive line together? Me and Ty are, you know, we've been roommates for the past two years. We live in the same apartment complex. We play the game together. It's really like one of my best friends on the team. And you know, we talk about a lot of football things. So we're really on the same page with a lot of, you know,

plays, teams like to run against us. And it could be some stunts we've run. We're always, you know, connected in some kind of way. Jerry, back to you. Great. Thanks for your time. Just a couple more questions. Joey, come up and Columbus this bat. Ty Lee, what does it say about your defensive line and how pride for you guys when you can get eight sacks, 13 tackles for a loss, that I haven't to bring in a ton of extra guys and pressure by you for this one forward and do a lot of that? I'll say cool to store our coach, Coach Jay. This is a lot of technique. And you know, sometimes it doesn't show up because you know, teams scheme you different ways. But when you have a team one dimensional, like they have to pass the ball, that's when all the, you know, the bash rush technique and stuff comes out. And I think we've gotten Tennessee and Oregon to those situations where they had to pass the ball. And you know, just let us rush free instead of worrying about the run. Which that makes sense. Are you guys just winning those one on one of those patch Russian situations till I was here, so many sacks and TFLs? Yeah, I'll say we're definitely winning way more

on one on one now. And you know, they're not keeping as many guys in the box to block us because they have to, you know, they're trying to come back. So I think it's, like I said, it's just cool to the offense, you know, creating these big leads and making teams one dimensional. So before I left, David Bigouz, Ben WCME. Tyler, we've talked about how better the team has gotten. This is getting off to fast starts on those sides of the ball. But there has been some scoring late in the first half. Like it's time to see and against Oregon. Has there been renewed emphasis on controlling the middle eight and how important will that be against Texas? Definitely, you know, that's one of Coach Day's biggest points, you know, controlling the middle eight. You control the middle eight, you like, chances of you winning that game goes, you know, skyrockets. So definitely versus Tennessee and Oregon, we give up touchdowns, you know, lay in the second half. I mean, first half, but we, you know, we just got to keep our full on the gas. We can't let up like at all because these teams we're playing are great teams. Like Texas is a great team, you know, gray offense, gray offense, align, gray quarterback, gray receivers,

gray running backs. So you know, we just got to just keep executing like, we know we can and you see how it plays out. Okay, final question for Tyler here. Tim May, Letterman Rope. But tell you, you know, Aaron Doney, you talk about everybody's hurting at this time of the year. But when the lights come on and the snap goes, what goes off in a guy like yours, mine? I mean, from the standpoint of making the play, I mean, can you explain that to people, don't get to play down in the middle of it all? I'll say, you know, like I said, you're right. Everybody has heard around this time, you know, we're in, we're in 15th, 14th, you know, deep in the season. You know, you just got to, you just got to show up. That's my mind. I've got to show up no matter what I'm going through. I got to make that play. I got to be disruptive, you know, just to help my team out. Because when I'm on my A game, you know, everybody else can, you know, feed off of me or we can feed off of like, you know, JT Jack Ty. But I said, you know, Coach, make it all, he says like, nobody cares, like it's true.

Nobody really cares if you're a hurried parent, you just got to go out there and play and make plays. Just a little bit, explain the drive you have personally to get through this next one into the next one. But I know it's one step at a time, but you know, he came back, et cetera, explained people what's going on in your brain about your motivation. My motivation, you know, we all have our wives, you know, while we're doing things, you know, we have family, you know, family here, our team, our brotherhood. But he's got to, he want to do, you write for your brothers, you know, on this team, you know, we're trying to win the big thing. We're not just, you know, trying to go win two games and lose. We're trying to win the big thing, you know. As long as we stay motivated, stay, you know, humble, don't like, you know, take the rap poisoning, you know, things like that and just execute and just play our hardest, you know, that will be fine. Thank you very much. Gotcha. So that's the house of spring, the big old Max,

who had been healthy? Yes, sir, I feel very healthy. Obviously coming off a season and ending injury last year, I feel really good, feeling better than ever, to be honest, even better than I did before the season last year. So it's been a great spring so far. How disappointing was it to get hurt in your office at the great start last year? Yeah, I mean, it was, it was a hard time. I mean, it's definitely not easy going through any injury, especially during the season like that. But, you know, it builds character. And I think it's good for me in the long term. It also builds death at the time of the season. Oh, for sure. Yeah, saw some key pieces coming there and produced at a high level. What do you think, George? George is a stud. Once he gets healthy, he's going to be great. He's working really hard right now. And he's going to have a great season this year. Personally, how exciting is it for you for it to be kind of your position now this year? Yeah, it's super exciting. You know, I got a lot better feel for the offense this year. Really good rapport with Hudson.

And it's been a fun spring so far. So, just got to keep carrying that on and see where it takes us. Obviously, when you're sideline, you're not playing. How important is it to stay like mentally ready and mentally get those reps so that when you come into the spring, you can improve. Definitely. I mean, that's all it is really just mentally envisioning the plays, envisioning making the plays. And every night, you know, I think about it probably every day. So, it was a big part of it for sure. For sure. How have you gotten better? I think just understanding the defenses and understanding where the quarterback wants me at a specific time and, you know, building that trust with him is huge. And I think I've been doing a pretty good job of that. How does that relationship with you and Hudson develop in the year two? Yeah, it's developing great. I mean, we have a great friendship off the field. So, you know, that helps a lot on the field as well. So, we have a great connection, you know, both on and off the field. And it only helps. Your brother's coming, right?

Yeah, yeah. So, you'll be here in May. It'll be a lot of fun. It'll be a lot of fun having him up here. What do you mean to see a lot of this team on the Saturday? I think just, you know, go out there and play hard, limit the mistakes. And at the end of the day, it's just being consistent with what we do and playing hard. So, that's why I want to see for sure. You feel like everyone's worth a pair for this spring game? Oh, for sure. I think we're way ahead of last year and I'm excited to see where it takes us. Anything on Dipper or the freshman? Yeah, Drew Bipper. Yeah, he's getting healthy now. He's looking great. He looked really healthy today. And I'm super excited to play with him. He's a lot of fun to play with. Just how quick is this turnaround? You guys just started practicing a couple of weeks ago. And now you have a spring game to get to. It's pretty quick, but, you know, I like it. I like it a lot. So, it's fun to get out there and play, you know, I'll let him be 11, put the ball down and go. I think it could be one of the 10's best tie-dates. I mean, that's the goal. That's the goal every day. That's what I'm reaching for. And whether I get it or not, who knows,

but that's what I'm reaching for every day. There'd be a leader like how he is. I mean, he's just unbelievable leader. And we all lean on him. He runs his whole team. And he knows that. We'll go as far as he goes. Jeremy Birmingham, the podcast. Brenna, we talked a little bit last week. Just kind of you being becoming one of the emotional leaders of the team. As you get from walking off the field at half time on Wednesday, I have to be down there by the locker room. I was the only person to take photos of you guys down there. Which is weird. But everyone looks super bad. We were up 34 and 8. And it looked like you got to be down by 26 points. Did you feel something different about the focus at that point in this team? Or is it just a bit of modernism of what's going on right now? It's just it seemed different. I just think the job wasn't done. We had nothing to be excited about at the moment. You know, we were excited there in a game where we're making the plays.

But at that time, at half time, you go back to 0-0. You just score. They scored a thin and a half. We knew they got the ball back. The defense wasn't quite happy that they gave that touchdown at the end. And we knew they get in the ball back coming out. But we was excited because we knew the job wasn't doing it. Bill Rebellitz, Columbus, this back. You were a five-star guy. And that coming out. All these guys in the room almost were five-star guys. And then there's Jeremiah. Does he like all you guys in the room? I mean, I'm not sure. It's probably something you got to ask him. But Jeremiah has played with a lot of great guys throughout his career. He's seen all the talent you can see in the world. But I don't know if he's ever in all. I mean, you and all. Oh, and I, oh, yeah. I mean, I'm not surprised at anything he does now. I've seen him just out. We were nine years old. So anything he does, anyone hand-kid, I've seen, I'm not surprised at anything he does.

When he was nine, do you know this is something special we've been met? Any of the nine? Oh, yeah. I mean, coaches were coming up to us complaining that we were nine years old. Can we get their IDs and stuff like that? So I mean, there's definitely some footage. We got to go find, but the place we used to make when we were younger is just to see where he is now. It's amazing. And it seems very unaffected by all of the starter. Yeah. How does that happen? I think how he was raised. He's very level-headed. He knows his goals and what he wants to get done in life. And this is just one step of the way for him. Going to throw it back to Texas for a couple of questions on Zoom. Scotty? Yes, sir. We're going to start with Defon from cleanin.com. Go ahead. Brandon, I want to go back to what you were talking about with Coach Day earlier. Whenever he talks about this team success, he says all the credit goes through players. It seems like the players think that he deserves some of the credit.

How big? How influential has he been during the turnaround you guys have had these last few weeks? He's been huge, man. Coming here after that team of North Wales, he knows heart breaking, of course. But we came in here. We had a leadership meeting. He was in here, I mean. And then we had a team meeting after that. Hearing the stuff he had to say. And we had to say going back and forth, we just we knew we would have his back no matter what. I mean, there's a lot of stuff set about him and his family and stuff like that. But here we're a brotherhood and we're a family. And we just we go stand by him no matter what. Our next question is going to come from Dan. Hope Dan go ahead. Brandon, I mean, I'm sure you came in here to Ohio State thinking you'd probably be starting here in your second year, but it seems like you really embraced the growth process. Just what's kind of that process been like for you of kind of embracing your role this season and continuing to develop? Yeah. In life, things doesn't go the way you exactly planted too.

And that just happened, you know, things happened to Mecca last year that allowed him to come back and that allowed me to learn more. And that's just how I see it makes me a better football player for the future. So yeah, I mean, yeah, let's see it. Three more on Zoom. Next one is going to come from Stephen Means. Go ahead. Stephen, but. That's dark. Yeah, you're good. Brandon, there are a lot of clips of you this year where you're super, super excited after a block. And kind of showing your emotion there. What about blocking do you love so much as a receiver? Just being able to hit another guy with all my power as hard as I can without any consequences. Except if you hold, of course. But yeah, just bringing that power. I mean, I heard some of the defensive guys telling me

yesterday they were like, bro, I hate to go against you. So knowing that from the defensive guys, so I know what the other defensive guys are thinking, like, just keep bringing it to them. They're not going to like it for four quarters. That's my mindset. Next question is going to come from Danny Davis. Danny, go ahead. Hey, Brandon, what are your impressions of these Texas defensive backs? And this kind of we've seen from them on, on, to them, Sapphire? Yeah, the last couple of days we watched them, they're a fast team. They don't give up many big plays down field. They're aggressive, but I actually know some of the DBs they have at corner there. I play with them. Well, I played with Malik Muhammad at SFE, so I might know him a little bit. And we have been watching them, they're fast team, they're physical, they're disciplined, but we just got to get the job done. Give any Malik stories or any? What's on?

Give any Malik stories or anything you remember about playing with them? Oh, yeah. But I'm not going to say them here. Yeah, we'll just keep that. Our final question is going to come from Kurt Bowles. Kurt, go ahead. Hey, Brandon, one of the issues Texas has had the second half of the year is finishing. And what if you can speak to, and they had a trouble, obviously, in the Peach Bowl, blew a 16-point leak? And you talk about finishing and having a killer instinct. And you guys obviously seem to have that now. Yeah, I think that started in off-season training at Fall Camp. We always say, go plus two. If you're doing a 10-yard pro-shut, you have to go plus two throughout the line. And that's just finishing, I was well. And then Fall Camp, we had these long 2-0 and F-hour practices or whatnot. And then we came out, and we had to do these finishers. We called them Asperg Games, late in the year like this. And I think Coach Day did a great job preparing all of us

for these moments. And we're just ready to go. We have time for just a couple more questions in Columbus so we can wrap up with our other two guys, Bill Landis, Kings of the North. Brandon, I'm sure you'll be on the second touchdown around. It seemed like you took two players out of the play, first with your release, and then with the guy you actually blocked. Is that how it's designed? Or is it just lucky to get the guy to start to take off in the side of the release? It's actually designed for me to block the safety and lead the corner one on one with the running back. But I was surprised. The corner actually came in so far, in my lease. I think he thought it was a pass. But I think he was the edge of the defense. If you go watch that play, but I don't know why he came in so far. But it helped out for us. And I made my block and turned it off score. Is there any lesson there for even a young receiver watching that that even if you know him to play, you're not getting the ball. You're intended to block. But your release has to be, at all point,

like as if you're going to go pitch pass. Yeah, definitely. Every little detail matters. And then type of plays. We were in a red zone there. So we say every yard matters to two yards. So the block I made is just a testament to Kyle. Coach Hardline prepped me throughout the week to make that block. And final question. Joy Kaufman, Columbus, this match. Brennan Will, and there's been some of the ball to eat well lately, and some of the special way you guys have open games. What do you think is his click for you guys and for him and watching those plays? A lot more confidence. I say throughout the year, we weren't always there as offense. We didn't quite know our identity. And now slowly but surely, I think we found that. And we're going to keep on rolling. And he's made some great throws. And yeah. I'm sorry, Brennan. I do have one more. Steve, how many of you do the 24-7s for? Yeah, Brennan, there've been opportunities for you to play a huge role on offense. And the number of plays you play in game

can differ from one week to the next. But the opportunity is coming sooner rather than later for you to be in every down player. Just what are the things you need to do in your game to take it to where it is now to be in every down guy? I think there's a lot of things I could work on in my game. I would say continuing to be football smart by IQ. Just knowing what the defense is going to do before they do it. My routes always can get better. My hands always can get better staying in the jugging machine. Work ethic, keep on top of it. Don't get satisfied with anything I do. And don't get too big. Don't get too low. Don't get too high. Don't get too low is what they say. You feel like a guy that the people follow, it seems. Like just in your mind, even though just second, your guy, that you're kind of working toward being kind of a leadership type guy. That I got to have guys that will take that role. Yeah, it's a great feeling, of course. The guys are watching what you do and listening to what you do.

But I just feel like we do that with a lot of players here and not just myself. But the leadership we have on this team is like no other. And that's why we got so far, I think. Brandon, thank you very much. I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I just got to learn everything slowly, of course, there's a lot to learn. But I got a lot of hope. You guys had a very unique experience all the early and earlys. You got a chance to go to semi-final. Some of you went to the Rose Bowl, there's nothing called the national championship game. What was that like? How much do you think that helped you? That was incredible. You see how other leaders led in that position and just seeing what they did and how they prepared. That's going to help a lot with everybody. What was the highlight of that time? Other than winning the national championship itself, was there something that stands out

to you? Just being able to trouble and get to meet everybody, meet all the players, everybody I want to know, and meet all the early and earlys that early. It's been a difficult part of you thinking of making the transition from Liza to the R.S. What has been the difference in the R.S. I was really just living on your own. You got to be independent. That's pretty much it, though. And you feel comfortable on that age, still trying to get on South and East College. I mean, of course, there's adjustment, but I'm getting the justice for you. I'm just trying to help you. I'm just trying to help you. I mean, of course, it's hard to miss my senior year. Last year, I was in my best friend's place. What did you do to you, right? I think you did my best to get in, right? It was an interview, really good. Sorry to the staff, sorry, but how did you get your...

What did you serve in Colorado? I really had to say I was a baby in my dad's, I got my dad in my monster family. I was like a old... Like, my son. Like, once I was born in a family. Why did they pick that? My dad looked up to me and I'm a junior, so I'm just working again. I think you said you were first-aim in the heart, right? So, you could wear eight, too. You're not wearing a shirt anymore, yeah? Yeah, you got two choices. It's a desire that can be addicted to awkward people. I fell into that, no younger age, but super bud, that's not cool. I just finished it. Did you say it again? I watched the last episode of Land Man on the planet, download it, it's a pretty good show.

What do you think of it? I don't know that. His wife seems to have life old, but I don't know how he handles it. It's the ticker show, or whatever. He always seems to be good when he comes up with all this mineral rights. I'm excited to see how I think about it. What did you think of it, Jerry? Oh, I thought he did a good job. I was surprised, honestly. He seemed like he knew what he was doing for Jerry. It was a good story. So, the important question, you say you pay your mom a salary, you guess? You win it all, since mommy gets a pay raise or... I don't know what to talk about that, is there a meeting or something? A good thing. Everybody's talking about it, but I'm really glad to hear that. I don't know how much it would cost you to be a 5-minute employee. I don't know if you're going to be able to do that. I'm just kind of out there to hear. As other people, I just want to find my manager. Yeah, well, first off, I think I'd be doing this service to my teammates.

You know, me even think of what's next. What's right in front of us is an overlaid. That's another thing I've got to tell me. So much grew as just being present in every single moment that I'm in. Not looking too far ahead, because I'm tripping what's right in front of me. That's too soft, we should have a meeting for me, if I think of what's next. Are you at least aware that there's a lot of speculation out there that people are going for a huge number of things going forward all season? Right now, I'm just not worried about all that stuff. I mean, people can say all they want to say, but I'm just focused on myself right now. I mean, I still get nervous for sure, but I just don't think. I think I do have to understand that that moment, whatever moment it is that I'm nervous about,

it doesn't define who I am as a person, and it doesn't define who I am and God's eyes. And understanding and knowing that, it's just kind of put this forceful of peace around me that I think maybe allows me to be able to be calm in certain situations. But it doesn't, that's not good. I mean, I just love the game so much. And if you don't get nervous or a little bit of work, but this I don't think you have that same love. I mean, I've got butterflies since, you know, going into football games since I was, you know, five, six years old. So I don't know if that feels as close to me or it's not, I don't know. You know, football just doesn't mean as much as it did to me back then. I want it to always mean that much. I've been told.

I'm really playing as much. So I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I've been through a lot. One of those younger guys we're seeing out here, it's the first time, it's heard all your life years. What have you seen from well because I felt like last year we all forgot about it because he was hurt. Now he's running, you know, almost a second man up on you and Ty. What have you seen from that experience? Well, it was a workhorse. He, he goes, stay quiet. He's going to work hard. And that's all I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to get the job done. Do a job right. Rarely has any mistakes. What would be a successful season? A national championship. A ring. When all the games we don't want to lose anything. We got a mindset that we can't be beat. And we just got to go show it. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year even more so you guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like enough is enough. Is that, is it, is it, is it going to be a different or is it not really any difference?

It's just the same for us. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. We, most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go, go bigger, go home and we're not trying to go home. Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute, right? You know what I mean? I mean, you, you were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have been one that came against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey, you guys want to win a national championship. But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying, we just like work harder. That's kind of what you make of saying, you know, nobody cares. Just work harder. Like those, you know, one plate Georgia is the same thing. Yeah. Last, last play, you know, they went on the win in 90. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles. Of course, it's frustrating.

But you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to, you know, come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought I was working harder than you always find out there's a little more than you could have been doing. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought, freshman year, I was working as hard as I could. But now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. If the stamina is a 60, then the answer is like, what do you need it to be to be your best? It is at 75. 80, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder. Get the shape. It's the idea of a potential 16 or 17 year. I think I think we, I definitely can last. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys to come along with us.

We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody like online, D line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D line and the online and everywhere else. So we can last that long. Speaking of the top of the life, I don't know if any of us were really expected to play that next time. Yeah, I did, unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games like, you know, Notre Dame too, or North, those kind of games. Of course, I want to be because I know I can contribute. And I think I'm going to be able to do that. I think I'm going to be able to do that. I think I'm going to be able to do that. I think I'm going to be able to do that. I think I'm going to be able to do that. Of course, I want to be because I know I can contribute. And I won't put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald is he got the kick of you guys in a second. Oh yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac's animal. You haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows it all the time.

He's just, he's growing right now. He has to work ethic. He just has to get, you know, in the playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6th, 3rd, 3rd, 27th, 3rd, 26th. Yeah, he's a real good guy. I kind of look at him like my junior, but you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and get into playbook. It's really a lot on you, older guys. There's that large group of young guys and then there's the seniors in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We've got to be leaders. Like I said, we've got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They've got to get in there and get some work. And we've got to get them right, learn all season so they can play. And I just play, they want to contribute, like make plays, tackle, and sex. It's a state that I work this pressure. It seems like these guys get big. Each one of the freshmen class is a little bigger or bigger. Do those guys kind of, those are going to kind of while you're in the cell? Yeah, they definitely need some big dudes. And they all work hard.

I've only seen much of some of the day too when I'm not passing on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard. They're determined. I can say that. And it looks like they're ready to work with me. I'm going to have to support this. It feels like there's a lot of great defenses that you have big, athletic defensive tactics that you can eat up space, but also move right to this. Does that have an environment maybe for great defense? To have guys like you that have some balls, but also a great team. I think that is definitely. I think if you look at the last couple of national champions and winners, like Seymour North, they got two good detacles, two athletic detacles. Look at Georgia. Two athletic detacles. I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this, they're going to fight by the defense with actors. What's Georgia? Jordan Davis and Janet Carter. Let's miss you again. It's Chris Jenkins. Couple more questions. You know, you're finding like how, I mean, you understand it because you play it.

But I feel like some time I don't know. Are people realizing how important defense tackles are? A little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. Yeah. Like in the combine, just now, you see in like those guys, they're moving four to four seven eights and things like that. And when you think about those freakish attacks, how do you think you fit into that bowl of that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles, but I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, watch it come on. I watch the dude do the drills. I have tape here. You're like, look at my film. So I think I'm up there with all those times. Do you become like an artist who comes to the bad end of passes? I think your legs have your clings. When you're going to spring practice, you're not doing that much on 11 or 11. I don't remember how many of you have a goal in mind.

I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that, but I think they're counting. I think they're counting some of them and some of them were like just listed. So, but I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that's goes big and what we do is a D line, you know, just affecting the quarter of that gets anywhere you can. It's just great for the defense. That little thing covering his eye, you know, he might throw it a little bit to the left or our player. So, it's something that you really, really have to work on. It's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. You've got to continue your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Oh, that passes. We don't have to ask this, but we're kind of kind of expected for the defense. I think I just have like an eye for the ball kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just I see him like load up. I just try to get in his ways and sometimes he throws it to me. I hear it. If you want to be a high state quarterback, get back down passes. I mean, they get frustrated by, you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting better.

I should lot of a lot of different backs, man. They just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. You got to go right now. I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey auto. He was injured this year. I like McCaffrey best back in this draft. I lead out of the yard. That's y'all decision. Playing with Will Howard, what I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard man. He's just such a great lead, such a great leader, man. He's just like in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. And he just deleted that he was, man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him. Yeah, he's shoot. He's going to be really good, man. He's on Coach Lock.

I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one, two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's man, he's smart. The way that he goes about his business, man, he's mature. And so man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so man, yeah, definitely Ohio State, you know, that running back room is in great hands. I was right there. I got looking at the UFC spot and put on this top of the race, and he was personality. And the coach helped keep that up and so made the same way. Yeah. Coach Hartlund, man. He's full of energy, man. And he's creative as well. You know, I'm just learning from him as well. You know, I'm trying to run more outside the backfield. It was being able to learn from Coach Hartlund. And so he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. What's your intensity, man? Just intensity, man. And since he got the playoffs, every game, man, is like the intensity got higher and higher. And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing.

Even if it's not the playoffs, just every game and intensity keeps getting higher and higher. And so, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day, and come in and work. And just like Ohio State, you know, I definitely feel like Ohio State. They definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players before then. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL. And so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I know I took a couple of days off after the National Championship. And then shoot right after that, I'm writing sample Florida and I'm writing to it. And so, yeah, I think while I trained, I trained at your birth performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man. They did a really good job. The Bucking Nears, no, I haven't.

Temple of Tampa, nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40 to broad and avert. Yeah. Yeah, no, man. It's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well. And so, I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Will Howard. It's for the love of the receivers who I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. I told Will, I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. It's, I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit, you know. And so, I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that, but I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man, making sure the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed.

You had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now when you need to? You know, you know, you know, you can't really work on this. You know, in all season, I feel like it's more so, you know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe it's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so, that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better. I feel like I did a good job of that my senior year. And so, I just want to continue to build on that. So, you know what I'm saying? Yes, I did. I didn't mean to look like that. I'm not in RL. You're not in RL. You're not in RL. You're not in RL. You're not in RL. You're not in RL. I did mean with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camera shoe. Yeah, man, I have a Camera great, great back, man. Just what he does and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. Yeah.

Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill. And I'll say the next one is probably just an option route out of the backfield. You know, a man and man coverage. You're getting on that linebacker. And so. Yeah, I say the man the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard. You know, even shoot. I don't know. Every good thing. I think he had a, every game was a good game for him, man. And so, but still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so he's definitely man. He's going to be a special player, man. He really is. I'm not going to let you go. You're a last name. Yeah. I'm going to start getting you know, you know, some victories.

I know he's a match. And when he worked back on it, what do you stand for? Man, a lot of ups and downs, man. It's just how you respond to adversity. And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. Is this, I'm not having something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to. You know, you can run to people, but they still can't. It's not too much. They can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, in those moments where it's tough, you know, where it's slow. And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, he gives you that peace and comfort, you know, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so, that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so... Which aspect of each of those other individuals that you want to follow and be around power and energy?

Um, man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. I just really love their mentality, especially Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quincham mentality, man, um... That boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted, you know. You see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And then as soon as you know it, you know, he, that running through somebody, still forming somebody, and shoot, that's a game to 10. And so... You know, some of the things that he does, he just realizes two different things. Yeah. Um, shoot, I think... Yeah, man, I think it's just like, he's just gifted, man, too, beyond it. He's just gifted, you know, he's a big back, you know, he's strong, and so, um... You know, he's able to do those things, and so, um... Yeah, man, it's definitely... You know, I look at this game, and I want to, you know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quincham. You know, I want to look at this game, and it's like, man, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player.

What's your last one to treat? Julian San. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great, but he's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so accurate, and so, um... He's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right, just, you know, um... Container grow as a leader, Container grow as a player, and so he's going to be really good for high state. I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Uh... I know just the quarterback position, um... I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've definitely been vocal, and so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to, um... Ask Julian San as well, it's to beat that vocal leader, and lead the, um... And lead the offense, and lead the team. Thank you. Thanks, thank you. Shoot, man, he has a build, like, JK Dobbins, and um... I kind of see them, you know, similar, these inner games as well, and I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. I feel like he's not talked about his none. Um, a lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights, is great. I remember, um... Before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights, like every...

Um, one of his years here, like, four or five times, and so, man, he was such a great back. And, um... I feel like, you know, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see, um... James people, I see similarities to both of their games, I feel like they play the same. And so... Appreciate you all, y'all. You can go back. This...

Well, I got coming in last round to the roll, so I just attacked Eric Dave, really the same way. It's taking a very rough... Physically, how different are you, weight-wise, body-wise, on that from the year ago? Um, I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like, 240, you know, like, 240-44 right now. Last year, I played it like, 236, 237. What does it feel like at 244, or bail? You feel like, almost a different machine out there. Yeah, like a... What does it feel like, to be running around out there, like you are, but with more, more, more bands? I just feel like I'm like, like, more downhill, like stronger, like I'm taking all blocks better. It's a big... Yeah. Is it daunting?

Uh, maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year, and you played quite a bit last year instead of... What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? You just got to get ready to just play 30 more snaps, so. But, are you... How would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an 8-pin point? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My, I'm ready for it. The text is open, it's a rematch, so to speak, but it's not really two different teams compared to the last time you all played and stuff. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the... We're an opener of that magnitude. Yeah, with an opener like that, we've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming, so we know we got to do it. We've been prepared for it. Already, this is probably what you're going to be. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman, like he ended up hitting the book, he stood in like he advanced, and his measurements were crazy. Like he saw like a saw line to him. Or, you said you were ready.

You know, you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready for whatever the team needed for me? Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was, which is whenever I was needed, I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year. When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. A different is that feeling this year than last year? That's the most possible thing that I've ever been. Oh, asked a one more time. How different is that response bill that should be that you could just say most of all that? If it was last year, you knew you were a role player. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year. But I kind of go about it the same way. Like last year, I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more.

And what word? How's everybody working? I say, describe my game. I say, when you think of me, you would think of like a like a bully, like a silver bully. I don't really bully. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think. No, I ain't got to be my nickname, but I'm not saying that the thing to be that. Oh, yeah, yeah. You want to be a body man? Yeah, that's like. I was like, what was it? I got a little more questions for Patricia's style and how it's free. I mean, how does that fit the you? And what are you going to show me about bullying in that kind of society? I think it fit me because I don't know, I just like the defense. I feel like we got, like you said, we got a lot of freedom. We're going around a lot of the terms. You know, I don't know. I don't really know how to answer that. That's okay. Does it bring a, you can go on your instincts a little bit more, baby? And it's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like,

I just like it's deep. I like her pretty deep because I like what he got going on. What was it, sad when CJ left the room? Uh, now I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for him. Yeah, that's what you want. No. No. All right. No, no, no, that's my dog. I go see it kind of missing a little bit, but I'm happy for him though. Well, they'll think, go ahead one last question. Coach Daze talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for, that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own. How much do you feel that is a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and I wanted some of your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like, um, yeah, I do feel like I did win a national championship, but like you said, my role wasn't same as how it's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to go get another one experienced that like feeling with me be on the field, a lot more place. Great. Oh, Bell, thank you very much. I've been using you, you know, that almost saved you whole stuff.

How much is it grown that you could put your finger on? Yeah, I was growing immensely. I mean, Caleb, he makes a lot of checks. Latham makes a lot of checks. I listen to them, whatever they need. If I need to cover somebody out, I'll go cover anybody. If they need me to do run support, I'll do run support. And it's really what Caleb does, what we do and Latham. It just goes back to the coach G's preparation and everyone's preparation to give us more flexibility and doesn't matter who's in those positions. And we can all play every position whether it's covering somebody or running and tackling. Did you feel like that was the case before the Oregon game? You're saying what I'm saying? Is it something that's been added? It just, you know, rely on a little bit more. Go ahead. Yeah, it did. I've probably been a broska game, a meaghan and more safety reps. And we had a five week to prepare. So I really learned to play book a lot more. Even though I knew the playbook, I learned a lot more. I learned a lot more about it, like in debt. So really just after the Oregon game, it helped me a lot to go back to safety, go to NICU everywhere.

You guys had a lot of issues of giving up the big plays in the passing game of the first game against Oregon. What do you feel you guys need to do better this time around to make sure that doesn't happen? Just the same mindset. We got to challenge these receivers. Every dog has their day. Maybe some people didn't have their day that game. But we'll look out there and hopefully change the narrative. And we still play with the same confidence, same technique. And, you know, Bill Rebino, it's a bonus this batch. And Denzel obviously had a tough game. And that one. What have you seen from him and how he's responded? Do you get a sense of from him? How he is for this rematch? His preparation has been very good. He's always been preparing, even though it didn't go the way he wanted to go that game. But he just always had his confidence. And we're going to see a big game out of him this week. And, you know, I know you guys wanted to play them in anapolis.

But the fact that you get to play them at the Rose Bowl, I mean, get a second chance. And people have said, you don't get that very often. How determined are you guys to take advantage of it? We're super, super determined. We watched film. I mean, we've lost a lot of film. The first time we played them, now we've got another six games that they played up film to watch. And it's just, they've grown a lot as a team. Same as us. We've grown a lot. We're not the same team. We were when we played them week one or weeks six or whatever. But now we're out there and going to play thighs, physical and everything like that. All right, Jordan. We're going to jump to the Zoom question here from Joey Kaufman. Columbus Dispatch. Oh, my bad. Not to Joey. Cameron T. Robinson, the athletic. Hey, Jordan, you've moved around a lot in the second day in your career. And now kind of getting some many more safety reps. What is it like at this point when Walt or Coach Noles comes to you and asks you to do some else? And just how much can you lean on the experiences you've had moving around when you're trying to learn something new in the middle of the season?

It means a lot. We always talk about what this is being on selfish, whether that's making plays or not making plays or doing your job so another person can make plays. That's kind of what we pride ourselves on. And it's just fun. Me moving around different positions. I'm always up for a new challenge. And a lot of people in the country can't do that. I just hold myself to that standard where I can play any position and excel at it. And if anybody else needs a question, let me know. But otherwise we're going to go to Austin more of the podcast. Jordan, when you were talking about watching film Oregon, which one do you think is more valuable to you watching that against yourself? Seven games ago, even if you've changed or the ensuing six games for Oregon, which one do you put more stock in? Kind of both. For me, I kind of watched what I did, things I did well, things I didn't do too well against them. And their team is changing, their scheme has changed. Some players have been out those stretch of games.

So I really watched the past game we played. And I know they're going to go back to some of the stuff that they liked, of course. And different games like Penn State, maybe Illinois, they run a lot of men. So just watching, watching stuff like that, every game matters. So yeah. Jordan, thank you very much. Thank you. Really playing as much. So I just wanted to get more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I've been through a lot of it. One of those younger guys, we're seeing it out here. It's the first time I've scored all those last years. What have you seen from Lil? I feel like I should have real forgot about it because he was hurt. Now he's running almost a second man up behind you and Ty. What have you seen in the game? What's your workhorse? He goes stay quiet, he's going to work hard. And that's all I love about him. He focuses, he don't really talk much. He's going to get a job done, do a job right. Rarely has any mistakes. What would be a successful season? A national championship? A ring.

When all the games were going to lose anything, we got a mindset that we can't be beat. And we just got to go show it. That mindset, that's different. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year even more so. You guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like that. That's an option. Does that feel the difference? Or is there not really any difference? It's just the same part. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go bigger, go home and we're not trying to go home. Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute. Right? You know what I mean? I mean, you were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that, hey, you guys won a winner national championship. But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying, we just like work harder.

That's kind of coach makes a saying, you know, nobody cares. Just work harder. Like those, you know, when we played Georgia, it's the same thing. Last play, you know, they went on the win in the 90s. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles. Of course, as you know, it's frustrating. But you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to, you know, come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought I was working hard and you always find out there's a little more. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought, freshman year, I was working as hard as I could. But now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. If the stamina is a 60, then they have to be like, what do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, 80, 85.

I mean, I can, it's all on me. I just, I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. So that's the stamina. Do you have the stamina? It's been a failure. The idea of the potential to succeed in a 70 year season. I mean, I think, I think we, I definitely can last. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys that come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps a day. And that's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody. Like, online, D line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D line and the O line and everywhere else. So we can last that long. Speaking of that, light play and all of that. Did you like playing that many snaps again last year because I don't know if any of us were really expected to be playing that many snaps? Yeah, I did. Unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something.

But we're playing them big games like, you know, Notre Dame too, or those kind of games. Of course, I want to be because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald? Is he got the key? You guys have a little second game? Oh, yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac's animal. Y'all, you haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows all the time. He's just, he's growing right now. He has a work ethic. He just has to get, you know, in a playbook, things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6th, or you're 327, he's 326. Yeah, he's a very old guy. I kind of look at him like my junior, but you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and get into playbook. So really a lot on you older guys. There's that large group of young guys and then they've seen you in your back. Is that part of your cast for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we got to get them right during the all season.

So they can play. And not just play, they want to like contribute, like, make plays, tackle with sex. It's a state out of our concentration. It seems like these guys get bigs. Each one of the first-minute classes is a bigger, bigger. And those guys kind of, those are going to kind of while you're in the cell at the first. Yeah, they're definitely some big dudes. And they all work hard. I'm only seeing much of some of the day too when I'm passing on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard. You know, they're determined to say that. And it looks like they're ready to work with me. How important this dude feels like. There's a lot of great defenses that you have big, athletic defense attackers who can eat up space. But also move, you know, right? That is that. Is that an inquire maybe for a great defense? To have guys like you that have some balls, but also a great feed. I think that is definitely. I think if you look at the last couple of nice and championship winners, like Team up North, they got two good, uh, detaco, two athletic detacos.

Look at Georgia, two athletic detacos. I think that's definitely me if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this, they're going to defied by the defense attackers. Like, what's Jordan Davis and Dianne Carter? Let's miss again. It's Chris Jenkins. How's the four questions? How, I mean, you understand this was your play. But I feel like some time I don't know. Are people realizing how important defense tackles are? A little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacos. Yeah. Like in the combine, just now, you see in like those guys, they're moving four to four, seven, eights and things like that. We'll see. And when you think about those freakiest attack attacks, how do you think you fit into that bowl of that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacos, but I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but, you know, watch the comment. I watch the views, do the drills. I have tape here, like, you're looking like my film.

So I think I'm up there with all those comments. Do you become like an artist who comes to batting up passes the thing away? I have your things. When you're going, you're not doing as much a weapon as a weapon. How do you work on that? Do you have like a goal, what mine? I don't remember how many I've last year. Do you have a goal in mind? How many people do you want to have this? I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that, but I think they've counted. I think they've counted some of them. And some of them were like just listed. So, but I think we work on drills and matching the hand. I think that's, uh, goes big. And, uh, what we do is a D line, you know, just affecting the quarter of the against. Any way you can is just great for the defense, you know, just that little thing you covered is I, you know, he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our player. So, so that's something that you really, really have to work on. You can do that. It's a theory that's one of the things that you can maybe work on the most. You can do that in your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Like, oh, that pass rate is going down. We don't have to ask this.

We kind of kind of expected for something. I think I just have like a, like, uh, I, for the ball kind of, I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him, I load up. I just try to get in his way. And sometimes he just throws it to me. I'm your opponent. If you want to be a high state quarterback, you're a bad dumb pass. I mean, they get frustrated, but you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting better. Watch a lot of, a lot of different backs, man. They just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. You got to pull right now. One, two, two. Uh, I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you, I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey. Auto, he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. I appreciate it. Who's the best back in this drive? Best back in this drive. I lead that up the yard. That's y'all, that's y'all decision. Playing well, Howard. What I'm going to remember most.

We're a Howard, man. He's just such a great leader, man. It's just like in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. He, just the leader that he was, man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him. Yeah, he's, he's going to be really good, man. He's, um, Coach Lock. I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one, two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's man, he's smart. The way that he goes about his business, man. He's mature. And so man, he's growing, you know, just as a person in as a player. And so man, yeah, definitely Ohio State, you know, that running back room is in great hands. Yeah. Coach, Coach Hartline, man. He's full of energy, man. And he's creative as well, you know, just learning from him as well, you know, trying to run more outside the backfield.

He was being able to learn from Coach Hartline. And so he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. Just the intensity, man. And the intensity of the playoffs, every game, man, is like the intensity got, you know, higher and higher. And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing. Even if it's not the playoffs, just every game and the intensity, it keeps getting higher and higher. And so, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day and come in and work. And just like Ohio State, you know, I definitely feel like Ohio State. They definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players before that. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL. And so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. I know I took a couple of days off after the national championship. And then shoot right after that. I'm writing sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so, yeah, I think while I trained, I trained at your performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They were just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man, they did a really good job. I mean, that was a good issue. The bucket near, you know what I have. We think it's a city, Tampa. Tampa, Tampa, nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40, the broad and the vert. You've been on raises and awesome offer. You've used to be tier of mentality of like when you've got a linebacker, so you're gonna be a gap. You're gonna be a bigger gap.

And I told Will, I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit, you know. And so, I don't know if I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that, but I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man, making sure that the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. You had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now? In my game. You can't really work on this, you know, in all season, I feel like. It's more so, you know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run. You know, maybe I was really just continuing to run through tackles. And so, that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better. I feel like I did a good job of that in my senior year. And so, I just want to continue to build on that. So, you know what I was saying? Yes, I did. Yes, I did. So, people trained on it. You look like, now let it all out there. You get back in person.

You said you met them before. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a comrade. I have a comrade. Sure, yeah, man. I have a comrade. Great, great back, man. Just what he does and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie. He's smooth. Yeah. Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill. And I'll say the next one is probably just an option out of the backfield. You know, man and man coverage. You're getting on that line backer. And so. Yeah, I say the man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard. You know, even shoot it.

I don't know. I'm not going to be able to do that. I'm not going to be able to do that. I'm not going to be able to do that. I'm not going to be able to do that. I'm not going to be able to do that. You know, even shoot it. I don't know. I think he had a, every game was a good game for him, man. And so, but still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man, and so he's definitely, man. He's going to be a special player, man. He really is. I'm not going to be able to like, tell him, you're relaxing. Yeah, I'm coming from my start kid. He knows the entries. I think he's a master's in. When he looked back on him, what do you want to stand down for? Man, a lot of ups and downs, man. It's just how you respond to adversity. And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. Is this, um, not have something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to. You know, you can run to people, but they still can't, it's not too much. They can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, you know, his moments,

where it's tough, you know, where it's slow. And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, he gives you, he gives you that peace and comfort. You know, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't, you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so, that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so, the back of the firm, Peterson Power and Judges, is going to be extremely effective. Which aspect, the future, those other individuals that you run to, are going to be able to stand from being around power and... Um, man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. I just really love their mentality, especially Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quincham mentality, man. That boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted. You know, you see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards.

And then, as soon as you know it, you know, he, that running through somebody, still farming somebody, and she would just gain a 10. And so... You some of the things that he does, he just realizes two different guys. Yeah. Um, shoot, I think... Yeah, man, I think it just like, he's just gifted, man, to be honest. He's just gifted, you know, he's a big back, you know, he's strong. And so, you know, he's able to do those things. And so, yeah, man, it's definitely, you know, I look at his game, and I want to, you know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quincham. You know, I want to look at his game and it's like, man, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player. What's your last one to be in San? Julian San. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great, but he's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so, so accurate. And so, he's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right. Just, you know, container grow as a leader, container grow as a player. And so, he's going to be really good for how I stay. I know just the quarterback position.

I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've definitely been vocal. And so, I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask Julian San as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead the offense and lead the team. Thanks, Julian. Thanks, Julian. Shoot, man. He has a build like JK Dobbins. And I kind of see them, you know, similarities in their game as well. And I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. I feel like he's not talked about his none. A lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights is great. I remember before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights. Like every, every one of his years here, like four or five times. And so, man, he was such a great back. And I feel like, you know, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see James people, I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they play the same. And so, appreciate you all. Yeah, I'll be going. You can get back. This.

Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you. Thank you. I just feel like I'm like, like, like more downhill, like stronger, like I'm taking all the bloods better. It's big. It is. It's daunting. Maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year. And you played quite a bit last year instead of what you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more. Just got to get ready to just play 30 more snaps. How would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an age standpoint? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. The text is opener. It's a rematch. It's not really two different teams.

Compare the last time you all played and stuff. How does that enhance this camp for you and this team getting ready for the word opener of that magnitude? Yeah, with an opener like that we've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming. So we know we got to do. We're prepared for it. I think Rowley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman. Like he ended up here in the book. He studied in like he advanced and his measurements was crazy. Like he saw it on the saw line too. I feel like you said you're ready. Like you know you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready for whatever the team needed for you? Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year. When you say ready is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there.

A different is that feeling this year than last year? That's the most possible thing to do that. Oh, that's the one more time. How different is that response bill that should be that you just call that? If you want to ask you, who knew you were a home player? I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year. But I kind of go about it the same way like last year I was attention over everything I did. I feel like this year it's going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. Somebody you somebody read the same thing. And what word? How's anybody worked your watch? I say, describe my game. I say when you think of me, you would think of like a bullet, like a silver bullet. I don't really know what it is on the ball. That's how I like to play and think. No, I ain't got to be my nickname.

But I'm saying that the beat that's a little bit more. Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's like. I was thinking about the trickiest style and how it's free. How does that fit you? And what are you going to join about it, bullying in that kind of style? Um, think of fit me because I don't know, I just like the defense. I feel like we got, like you said, we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot. A lot of the terms are like, no, I don't know. I don't really not answer that. That's OK. Does it? You could go on your instincts a little bit more, baby. It's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like, I just like it's different. I like how it's different. I like what you got going on. What was it, Sadman? CJ left the ring. Uh, now I wanted to say that I was kind of like happy for you. Yeah, that's what you want. No, no. No, that's my dog. So yeah, kind of missing a little bit, but yeah, I'm happy for you.

I felt good. Go ahead. One last question. Coach Daze talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys were going to win your own. How much do you feel that is a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and a lot of some of your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like, um, yeah, I do feel like I did win a nati last year, but like you said, my role wasn't the same as how it's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experienced that like feeling with me beyond the field, a lot more place. Great. Oh, Bill, thank you very much. I mean, sometimes I feed and actually, you need to take me right now. Sometimes I'm like basketball. I want to be on that just like the fed, but you know, I got to stay. Stash playing some balls. Exactly. Yeah. That's a very question. I mean, I feel like these two can answer that. I don't know what to say about that.

What do you guys think? I go against every day. This man is strong. I'm talking about like, you get the basketball key. You can just do it. I mean, he's kind of really fast. Just the home of the shake. And he got the grip. He doesn't give up on the playing. Like you said, he's going to go in and watch the film. He's doing everything. And then he's going to see the hundred feet. And I just want to knock out this guy. He's sitting here and at the game. You know, if he was following around all the time. He sounded like a coach, man. He sounded like a coach. Chip Kelly's in full exchange. Your mind about maybe like the idea of tack over his guard. Because obviously his offensive predelitious for like, offensive blind play. That's what you're going to play. You can play. You can play. You settle in the guard. That's um, I want to say maybe I don't know. But I mean, when I'm when I'm pretty sure you got the job,

I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo. I can run with the tempo. You know, I mean, I'm playing basketball all life in a set of football. And I feel like just the fast pace often, so we're running. It really fits the guys we have right now. I'm really excited for that. I know you can go for ball. 65 yards. But can you kick a football? 75 yards and Blake is. No. Probably question. Lincoln, what's your question? How is your, um, your roommate? He's a blessing man. I can't complain. He's a great guy. What's his name? His name's Lincoln. Keen Hoes. Who's Cleaner? Oh, who's Cleaner? I think we're both really clean. That's why we kind of picked each other's roommates. He gets very clean and we don't like our rooms really messy. That's true though. It's true. They're both pretty clean. Luke, are you still a cross-training in tackle some or have you just been all-guard this break? Oh, so far I've been all-guard. Um, I really don't know. Like I said, I'm taking it practice by practice. I could end up being a back attack, but I could not. But, you know, I'm just really focused in on this past practice and the next one is fun.

What do you mean? You know, I was. Yeah. Oh, that mean a lot. Um, you know, you put a lot of work in to play here. And I spent a dream just from being in the Ohio kid and I'm from a Ohio kid's perspective. It's, I mean, that's the biggest switch possible out of that. I would say that's, that'd be pretty cool. What was it like just last year at first game getting on the field for the first five we're going to go through? It didn't, like, this is going to be a weird answer, but it, it feel like I was playing a game yet. If that makes sense, I hit. I was pretty locked in. I felt like just no anxiousness and no stress and nothing really. I just went in that first game. I was like, shoot on here now. It's time to roll, you know. It didn't really hit me. I was like, it didn't even hit me after. I'm like, what'd you feel there? And if like, getting out there in the end, I just like, honestly, I don't know. I felt less nervous than I did in high school and it makes no sense. What did you see? What did you see? I think that's just, uh, a lot. I mean, I'm learning from Josh Ann Austin. I think prior to one of my biggest role models here is my bigger, big brother when I first came in here.

Tell him I'm a pedeer? I don't know. This is a pedeer, okay. Yeah, no. Yeah, yeah. So, yeah, pedean Austin, those are my guys, man. I mean, even Miles too. I mean, all three of them. That's those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well on. And I'm excited to see where they where they can get to. I'm excited to plan and feel with them. Oh, yeah, you know, it's been really helpful. You know, just keep in my mind just settled and straightforward on the next play. It's a great question. Like I said, I mean, I just need to take consistent in my work. I think that's the biggest thing for me is just taking consistent and worry about the next play. So you got it from the guy you were playing? Yeah. Wow, that's weird. Yeah, I mean, I guess they didn't want to get my nerves up, but like I was ready. I mean, I did, I took most of the ones that solved camping. I mean, I was already, I was pretty much it. Yeah. I wasn't really nervous to start the game. What was his advice to you? Yeah.

He said you got it. You mean you're going against high league and Kyle every day in practice. I mean, it's not different. Almost different. Are you now both doing tend to the two starts? As a player, you know, having having that under your belt? I mean, I'm more confident. I know what's going on. I can see like I can see what's going on with the defense. I know what's going on. I know what's coming. I mean, I understand the game's a lot better than what it was. I don't say last year. Which adds up to what? Fast, the start. Yeah. You play with that dust for a while. I mean, if we get out early, it's get the defense change in place. It's changing their defense. You start fast. I mean, they're trying to get the call in the play. But you start fast. I'm not going back. I trust a lot of touchdowns. Yeah, of course, Dave is pretty much dead, though. You deserve a play, man. You know, in some warm up fashion. What were you expecting this week in terms of your role? Where they need me? If it's left right. Wherever it's heading to go in. I think it's going to go in and go in and go back to do the front of me. I'm just like playing tackle.

Took me back to high school days. But I should back in high school. I wasn't really random ball luck really in doing passes. But it was fun. Changes. I made my feet better, I would say. How confident you feel like you could play there if you need me? If they want me there, I'll guess I'll play there. I mean, they need me. They need me. I'm also in the illness that's up through the office of the line room. A lot of times, coaches and players have said that that was still relying for the groom, you know, getting you experience among others. What was that like for you and double dipping, playing some tackle, playing some guard in the same practice as that? It was based on a group effort. Like we knew we had guys out and we just had to go back practice. All five guys, wherever they were playing, we just got to go. How much of that accelerate your development, like that time with the ones you were actually doing? They really did. I was jumped in there. I didn't really know.

So we wanted to practice with practices, but like after those, I was like, you're out of good. You know, my confidence grew. It seemed like there was sort of a settling in process for you and the Akron game. Maybe play got better if the game went on and it really seemed to be too, especially in the ground game, things seemed to take on. What was there a moment when it clicked on the field for you? Like was there nerves and then a time of settling in? I guess how, taking you through kind of that first game mentally? Yeah. First game, obviously you can have nerves for your first time starter. But then like after the first couple of plays, meaning you have nerves naturally. So that's the first couple of play that I was good. I was rolling. Also, there's a weird meme. First time a striker. It was also the first start. Yeah. You, yeah, it's, but like I prepared well and camp and practice all week. And I was, I was ready. I have two multi-year starters.

I did a lot. I mean, I couldn't ask them, hey, what we got here, but I was prepared well. I was telling Jimmy and said it's like a player blocks. I'll be emotional. What is this guy from Ohio? What does it mean to start a game? It was always my dream to come here and play and start. And having that like, I mean, I just like keep going, keep building those days, and go games and keep building. What a much younger Austin. Do you have people from you that have? No, not really. I don't think even I told my like way. I asked my younger self, even committing. I wouldn't believe that now having a couple of starts. Yeah. Awesome. Has this happened faster than you had been building these are coming up to play as a player? I guess you're technically a sophomore. You can play as a richer person. No, I knew that year two, I was going to see you some playing time. Now starting week one, year two, I didn't see that, but like I was ready.

In spring ball, like I knew I was going, I was going to play some soft things. What does it mean to you to not only get the opportunities to play, but like you play well enough now, maybe coaching staff trust you. You're going to be able to put that there and whatever the situation is. So that there aren't that so early on in your career. I guess it shows like my preparation, my hard work, and just everything I put into this and I just finally show up on a field. There are moments, the top season, the end of the spring, and the end of the season. I realized that you could play at this high level, with the ones, you know, 188. Yeah, the definitely was in training camp. I mean, Black can highly can tie every day. But like it feels, it feels a lot of confidence in doing it well and not like getting balled or anything. There is defensive tag wasn't that easy. Hero and Jason Moore and Taiwan, all those guys, pretty much anyone on the deepened morning gets your face all the time. So, and Kay and Mack as well.

Yeah. We've heard a lot of them. I would work like the power of our possibility of having a great new line. How much can he help you? He helped me a lot, and I'm proud that he's our starting center, not someone else's, but I mean, he's like the captain of the line. He's another voice on the line with guys like Josh Fryer and Josh Simmons, Donnie and Tiger. That means another voice and another captain on the line. Look, ways of having that, and I'm with this much experience helped during the game in the middle of the line. I mean, a lot. He can tell you, like before the play was going on, like how to block someone, like what you need to do, and it helps a lot. Tiger is talking about how calm he is going to start, you know, quickly. How much does that benefit you? You have a guy who's kind of been there and seen a lot of us. He has more calm, especially me and Tay, that's our first start. So we were up here with Seth, he brought us down, and we were fine.

Our emotions weren't high, we settled in. Is that something he tells you? Is that something you pick up on by how he's acting? How do you kind of mean sense what he's trying to do? How he's acting, and what I mean, him, when we're on the side of him, both Josh and Donnie, he was telling us, like, hey, we're cool, like we got it, but it's pretty much like everyone, old, cool group. I said, how much do you do that? As a first time starter, how much did you end that? Me and a lot. That was my first time ever using iPads. We didn't use the iPads in high school, but I mean, you can say, like try to remember the defense. You can just come on a silent, bring up a play and get help, that's really not. Probably the first or second, but after that, I thought we'd say all right. Awesome, thank you very much. It seems like training part is a part of the time that we'll get bigger and stronger. It's like the culture of the part. How much of the fact we get that in a part of the team to pick your change?

It's also a lot. I feel like you can't be able to transform your body like I have or people here come and do that without having that mentality part with it. We always talk about competitions here and our culture is fight, so we're always here to compete. I feel like that gets you in this mindset. When you talk about that transformation, can you just give us a little sense maybe with numbers or body fat or what you do in the weight group, how big is that transformation? I don't have really specific numbers, but it's more just like I can just feel like feeling when I'm playing. I remember how I felt the play when I just got here and now I know how it feels to play like just today. It feels physically different on my body. It's like it's just I'm getting used to it. That makes sense. I can't imagine feeling like that.

Padilla also said about you that you are just a completely different guy from last year. You're going to work this year, so just get it done today. Do you feel like you weren't at that place mentally? I think I was, but I think I had some, I would say, kind of like confidence issues. I mean, I work past it and I know why I am and I know I can be here. Is it yourself, is it teammates, is there someone in your family that makes you believe that you can do it? I know I can do it. It's not like those are all it's on the past now. Did the past play time in the very obvious opportunity guys had to step up and be able to be on the business? That helped you get over that confidence issue there because it's now a memory since your opportunity. So, kind of, it's just like...

Just, I mean, it's just being here. I feel like being here every day, working with the guys every day. It's just like, you know, you become this person that you might not have like... You might not have felt like you were before that, but coming here, working every day, stacking these days, like, you know, I just feel like I realized who I am and I know what I can do now. Well, I wanted to be on the top of this world, but are you... This is the second time to convince yourself that you actually belong here and you're good. I knew I could play here. It's just it was like the... I just... I don't know how to explain it. I've always known I could play here. I'm just... Like, let's go. Like, I'm ready to attack. What are the guys that helped you to try to figure that out? For sure, I think KJ was a big influence. Ty Hamilton, Ty League, they all helped me a bunch last year, kind of just pushing through, you know.

I really plan as much, so I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt, so I can bring the other guys with me because I've been through a lot of it. One of those younger guys we're seeing right here, it's the first time in a sort of all of the last years. What have you seen from Will? Because I felt like last year we all forgot about him because he's heard now he's running, you know, almost a second man up behind you and Ty. What have you seen during the next few years? Well as a workhorse, he goes, stay quiet, you go and work hard, and that's all I love about him. He focuses, he don't really talk much, he's just going to get the job done, do a job right, he rarely has any mistakes. What would be a successful season? A national championship? A ring, win, all the games we don't want to lose into, we got a mindset that we can't beat, and we just got to go show it. That mindset is different. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year, this year even more so, you guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided that nothing's allowed for you, because that is to keep feeling different, or is there not really any difference?

It's just the same word. It's definitely a difference, everyone working harder, we noticed our last run, most of us don't have any years after this, so we got to go bigger, go home and we're not trying to go home. Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan, but when you look at what they did, they won the national championship, and you guys took them down to the final minute. You know what I mean? You were right there, something goes a little different, you guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that, hey, you guys won a international championship, but you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year, like you're that close? So I'm saying, we just like work harder, that's kind of a coach that makes a saying, you know, nobody cares, just work harder. Like those, you know, when we played Georgia, it's the same thing. Last play, you know, they went on the win in 90s, so we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season, I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles? Of course it's frustrating, but you can't change the outcome, you can't really dwell on it.

You just got to come back and work harder, do things better than you did last year, and hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you can't learn, I thought I was working harder than you always find out there's a little more than you could have been doing? Yeah, definitely, I mean, that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought freshman year I was working as hard as I could, but not look back at it, I really wasn't working hard at all, compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. What do you need it to be to be your best? 80, 85? I mean, I can, it's all on me, I think it's a little higher, I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me, I just got to run harder. So I think it's time to add to you, young people, it's been a pleasure. The idea of potentially 16 or 17 years ago, how do you set up on that idea? There's a make you nervous about, can you last that long? I think, I think I definitely can last, I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys to come along with us, we can't play 50 stamps again.

There's too much on our bodies, just everybody, like online, we got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D-line and online, and everywhere else so we can last that long run. Speaking of life plan, if you like playing that movie, snap the game, last year if you love it. I don't know if any of us were really expected to be playing that movie. Yeah, I did, unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something, but we're playing them big games, like, you know, Notre Dame, too, or North, those kind of games. Of course I want to be, because I know I can contribute, and I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald and the speed guy that you guys are going to suck again? Oh yeah, definitely, K-Mac is a K-Mac animal, y'all. You haven't really seen it yet, but in practice he shows all the time. He's just, he's growing right now. He has a work ethic. He just has to get, you know, in the playbook, things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both, listen, 6-3, you're 3-27, he's 3-26.

Yeah, I kind of look at him like my junior, but, you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and get into playbook. So really a lot on you older guys, there's that large group of young guys, and then there's these seniors in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work, and we got to get them right during the all season. So they can play. And not just play, they want to contribute, like, make plays, tackle, sex. It stays out of our expression. Seems like these guys get the figures. Each one of the freshmen class is looking bigger or bigger. Do those guys kind of, it doesn't kind of allow you to solve the first? Yeah, they definitely use some big dudes. And they all work hard. I've only seen much of some of the day too when I'm not passing on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard, you know, they're determined. I'd say that. And it looks like they're ready to work with me. How important this dude to be? It feels like there's a lot of great defense that you have big athletic defense attacks

that you can eat up space, but also move, you know, right? That is that. Is that a requirement maybe for great defense to have guys like you that have some balls, but also a great team? I think that is definitely. I think if you look at the last couple of national championship winners, like, team of North, they got two good, uh, detaco, two athletic detacles. Look at Georgia, two athletic detacles. I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about that, they won't define by the defense attack. There's like, what's Georgia, Jordan Davis and James Carter? Let's miss again. It's Chris Jenkins. Tell me more questions. You might as well see how, I mean, you understand this was you play it, but I feel like sometime I don't know. Are people realizing how important defense attack was are a little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. Like in the combine, just now, you see them like those guys, they're moving forward to 478s and things like that.

So we'll see. And when you think about those freakiest out there, how do you think you fit into that ball with that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles, but I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, watch the comma. I watch the dude do the drills. I have T.T. like, look at my film. So I think I'm up there with all those. Do you become like a artist who comes back to the past? The figure wags kind of things. When you're going, you can see Frank Braxton. You're not doing as much a weapon or the weapon. I don't know if you're going to get a strong suit. How do you work on that? Do you have like a goal in mind? I don't remember how many that last year, like you haven't goal in mind? How many do you want that? I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that, but I think they're counting. I think they're counting some of them. And some of them were like, just missed it. But I think we work on Joe's match in the hand. I think that goes big. What we do is a D line, you know, just affecting the quarter. That is, anyway, you can.

It's just great for the defense. You know, just that little thing covered his eye, you know, he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our players. So let's something that you really, really have to work on. You can do that. It's steering does one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. You can do your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Like, oh, that past week's two takes a minute. We don't have that. We kind of kind of expected for this. I think I just have like a, like, an eye for the ball kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him, I load up. I just try to get in his ways. And sometimes he's throws it to me. I hear it. If you want to be on the state quarterbacks, give me a bad dumb pass. I mean, they get frustrated by, you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting better. I want you a lot of different backs, man. They just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. You got to go right now. One, two, two. I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and...

I like McCaffrey. Auto. He was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. Who's the best back in this drive? Best back in this drive. I'm going to get it right out of the yard. That's y'all, that's y'all decision. Playing well, Howard. What I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard, man. He's just such a great leader, man. It's just like, in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. He, just the leader that he was, man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him. What do you think of James P. What do you think of James P. Yeah, he's... He's going to be really good, man. He's on Coach Lock. I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one, two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James P. He's smart. The way that he goes about his business, man. He's mature. And so, man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so, man, yeah. Definitely Ohio State. You know, that running back room is in great hands.

Yeah, Coach Hartline, man. He's full of energy, man. And he's creative as well, you know. I'm just learning from him as well, you know. I'm trying to run more outside the backfield. It was being able to learn from Coach Hartline. And so, he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so, I think that would do really good. So, I think that's what you love playing on the right. That's what I'm going to do. I'm going to play on the right. I'm going to play on the right. I'm going to play on the right. I'm going to play on the right. That's what my strategy is. Just intensity, man. And intensity of the playoffs, every game, man, is like the intensity got higher and higher. And so, you know, being able to, I know in the lead, it's the same thing, even if it's not the playoffs, just every game and intensity it keeps getting higher and higher. So, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day and come in and work.

Yeah. Yeah, I know I took a couple of days off after the national championship. And then shoot right after that. I'm writing Tampa, Florida, and I'm right to it. And so, yeah, I think while I trained, I trained that, your performance, I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man, they did a really good job. The Bucking Nears, no, I haven't. Tampa, Tampa, nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40, the broad and the vert. It's a great season, awesome. It needs to be pure mentality of like when you've got a linebacker, so you can get a gap and figure that you can really just wear a ball.

Yeah. Yeah, nah, man. It's really all about technique. And then it's all about mindset as well. And so, I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Will Howard. It's for the love of the receiver, so I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I told Will, I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. It's the, I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit, you know. And so, I don't know if I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that, but I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man, making sure the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. You're going to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now? You need to try and get it. In my game, you can't really work on this. You know, in all season, I feel like it's more so, you know, you got to put the pass on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe it's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so, that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game.

You know, I want to continue to get better at it. I feel like I did a good job of that in my senior year. And so, I just want to continue to build on that. Yes, I did. Yes, I did. So, people say you look like now that it's far out there. You get back to nursing. I can barely do it. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camera. Sure, yeah, man, I have a Camera. You know, a man and man coverage. You're getting on that linebacker. And so. What he needs will be here in a couple of years. Jeremiah. You have the perfect questions.

That's how you're supposed to be. You have the questions. You have the questions. Like I said, yeah, I say to man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard, you know, even shoot him. I don't know, every good, I think he had a, every game was a good game for him, man. And so, but still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so he's definitely man. He's going to be a special player, man. He really is. Man, a lot of ups and downs, man. It's just how you respond to adversity. And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. It's just, I'm not have something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to.

You know, you can run to people, but they still can't, it's not too much, they can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, in those moments where it's tough, you know, where it's slow. And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, he gives you that peace and comfort. You know, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't, you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still feel with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so, that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so, The back of the firm, of Jesus power and judgment, is through that back of the firm. Which aspect, of each of those other individuals that you want to model and from being around power to Him? Um, man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. Am I just really loved their mentality, especially Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quincham mentality, man.

That boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted, you know, you see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And as soon as you know it, you know, he, he, he, he, he, he, somebody, step on somebody and shoot us again to 10. And so, Do some of the things that he does, he just realizes two different things actually. Shoot, I think, Yeah, man, I think it just like, he's just gifted, man, to be honest. He's just gifted, you know, he's, he's a big back. You know, he's strong and so, um, you know, he's, he's able to do, he's able to do those things. And so, um, yeah, man, it's definitely, you know, I look at his game and I want to, you know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quincham. You know, I want to look at this game and it's like, man, where, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player. Julian San. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great, but he's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so, so accurate. And so, um, he's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right. Just, you know, um, container, grow as a leader, container, grow as a player.

And so, he's going to be really good for a high state. He's, I know just the quarterback position. Um, I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've, they've definitely been vocal. And so, I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to, um, ask Julian San as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead, um, and lead the offense and lead the team. Thanks, guys. Thanks, guys. Shoot, man. He has, he has a build like JK Dobbins. And, um, I kind of see them, you know, similar, similarities in their game as well. And I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. Um, I feel like he's not talked about his, not a lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights is, is great. I remember, um, before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every, every, um, one of his years here. Like four or five times. And so, man, he was such a great back. And, um, I feel like, you know, um, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see, um, James people, I see similarities to both of their games.

I feel like they play the same. And so, I appreciate you all. Yeah, I'll be going. This. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All I got coming in last round, I knew we're all so I just tacked every day really the same way. I was just taking advantage of that very red. Physically, how different are you? Weight wise, body wise on that?

Um, I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240, you know, like 244 right now. Last year, I played it like 236 to 37. What does it feel like at 244? Or, you feel like an almost a different machine out there? Yeah. What does it feel like to be running around out there like you are with more, uh, more back? I just feel like I'm like, I'm like, like more downhill, like stronger. Like I'm taking all blocks better. It's a big. Yeah. Is it daunting? Uh, maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year. And you played quite a bit last year instead of what you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more. Just got to get ready to just play. There are even more snaps. But are you, are you, how would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an evening? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My, I'm ready for it. The Texas opener is a rematch. It's not really two different teams compared to the last time you all played and stuff. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the,

were an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, with an opener like that, we've been, um, with the emphasizing in the line. We know we got coming, so we know we got to do. We've been prepared for it. I already just probably went to him. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman like he in the, he in the book. He studied in like he advanced and his measurements crazy like he saw like the saw line to him. Or like you said, you're ready. I know you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready? So whatever the team needed. Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed, I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready. When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. A different is that given this year's analyze. That's possible.

Oh, that's the one more time. How different is that responsibility? That's the reason that he's just emotional. All that was last year. He knew you were a whole way. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year. But I kind of go about it the same way. Like last year, I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. Somebody who's somewhere in the name of some of you. And what word? How's anybody word you're watching? I say, describe my game. I say, when you think of me, you would think of like a bully, like a silver bully. I don't really bully. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think. You know what I want to body that? No, I ain't got to be my nickname, but. I'm not saying that the nickname beat that's what I'm talking about. Oh, yeah, yeah.

Yeah, that's it. I've got a lot of questions for Patricia's style and how it's free. I mean, how does that fit you? And what are you enjoying about bullying in that kind of style? Um, think of it, because. I don't know, I just like the defense. I feel like we got like you said, we got a lot of freedom and we're moving around a lot. A lot of the times is like, you know, I don't know. I don't really not answer that. That's okay. Does it? You can go on your instincts a little bit more, maybe? And it's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like. I just like it's deep. I like how the previous days I like what you got going on. What was it sad when CJ left the room? Uh, no, I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for me. Yeah, that's what you want. No, no. No, that's my dog. So yeah, kind of missing a little bit, but yeah, I'm happy for him. Well, don't thank you. Go ahead one last question. Coach Daze talked a lot about the guys who played.

Some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship. You guys will win your own. Yeah. How much do you feel that is a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and a lot more some of your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like, um, yeah, I do feel like I did win a national, but like you said, my role wasn't the same as how's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experienced that like feeling maybe on the field a lot more place. Great. Oh, Bill, thank you very much. I'm very glad to have you. I'm the unique offense compared to NFL, especially with the way he uses receivers. How do you anticipate your role changing and how do you view the offense from a receiver perspective specific? Yeah. Um, I mean, I think he likes to really push the ball down the field. Um, he likes to be balanced. He likes to give different looks to a difference. You know, we're going to not to try to get too much into it, but you know, we're going to use some motion, move some guys around and things of that nature. Um, I think for myself, I feel comfortable playing any of the positions that is that is asked whether it's the slot, the outside positions and unique part about our offense is, I don't think necessarily you play the X or the Z because the pit on the formation of the hash, you can be the opposite.

You can be the X, but then you're to the field now you're the Z. So you got to really learn the entire concept and know where you're out in the field, which I think makes everybody smarter players because you don't pigeonhole yourself. I just play X, you know, I'm only know this position. Like you get in two minutes, you're the Z now, you got to know what to do. You may have the clear out route or you may have the backside dig like you got to know what you're doing. So I think he doesn't just say like we're going to do this offense. He's really trying to create an offense that hits our personnel really well. That that field boundary thing. Yeah, that's a thing in college, but it seems like it's more to you to clip is that is that something you're used to seeing another offense? Yeah, definitely. I mean, I think if if I'm on the left hash, like technically, I'm the X, you know, I'm in the boundary, but if we're on the right hash, I'm still on the left side. I'm really the Z in the concept because I'm to the field, I'm to the strength of the tight end. So I've been in offenses like it's similar like that before and you know, I just think he, he one thing I think that's really stood out as the compliments of our routes that we have so far.

I feel like we have a chance to really run similar stems, but there's different routes off those stems and things like that, which I think for receiver like myself who. You get, you know, a really good look at DBs and they study your film, they study your splits, like having routes that look the same, but break off a different, different angles is extremely important because it feels like you have some versatility in your bag to go out with versus like you got this hit you again, you're backside, like that's all you got, you know what I mean? So, yeah, he's just been a really good player's person to work with and he's been really communicative with the leaders and how we want this offense to look like and some of the ideas that we may have as well. So it's been a really cool transition. You talk about the transitions, you've heard offense in three years, probably your fourth and sixth years. Yeah. How do you not kind of build up some barriers? Yeah, man, I got to do this again. Right. I think, you know, human nature is always a factor in whatever you do in life, but I think I try to make a conscious choice of coming in with a new year mentality each and every year.

And I think it's easy because we've had so many changes and it's been great working with Marcus and Jaden and Jeff and Sam, all of everybody. It's been great working with all the quarterbacks and I just have a mentality and not really being complacent. Like I try to really focus on the things that I can come back better at this year and I've been working my butt off to do that. So I think the easy thing and when I was younger, you're like, dang, like you just want that consistency. You know what I mean? Like you want that something you could depend on, but like life isn't always like that. So I've been reinvigorated because of just the energy that DQ brings into our building each and every day and the coaches as well. Like it's fun competing, you know what I mean? And sometimes I could get lost in the grind, but I think the reason why you make it here at this level is because you fall in love with the competition of it. And I think the competition breathes the success because that is really where you, the iron truly sharpens iron.

And I think the other guys are going to make plays, but you get excited to go in there and know that the next day we're going to go right back after the defense. So for myself, I'm just looking forward to continue to grow with the quarterbacks that we have. I'm in year six now, which is extreme blessing and leader, one of the leaders in our room. And I just try to take the bull by the horns with that. And so that's really been my focus. And you know, I'm excited for another year. I think like you're being more vocal on the sidelines to help young guys. Definitely something you decided this off season or I think that's been a part of my maturation process as a leader. I've always seen myself as somebody that was a leader by example. But from coaches and other teammates I've had over the years, guys like to hear what I have to say for whatever reason sometimes. You know, and I think the biggest thing where I've tried to figure out where I fit in with my vocal leadership is I never wanted to be like a dictator. You know, I mean, I never wanted to tell guys what to do or be a yellow or things like that.

Like when I say something, I wanted to have power. I wanted to have meaning. And I hope, you know, the guys would feel the same way if they were to ask them that question. Because I want to see all these guys win, man. Like it's hard to make it in this league and stay in a career. And so anyway, I could help the receivers, the DBs. I'm talking to some alignment. Johnny, who's who's rehabbing his foot. You know what I mean? Like everybody has a role and everybody has a different story and path. And so if I could share what I've been through my testimony to help them or do things that kind of slow down the process, I'm going to try to do that because we need everybody from the rookies to the 10 year vets to make this thing work. So more so I try to speak to what I know and really those honest conversations that I try to have with guys, what they know I'm coming from a good place. And I think I'm not the type of guy where I'm just going to talk at them. Like if they see something like I could take a coaching point from Luke McCaffrey. I could take a coaching point from day on me from Jahan from Marcus from anybody.

You know, like I think that's what makes you a great player when you can really be coachable from anybody and not take it from a personal standpoint. Hi. How are you doing? Good. Going back to what you were saying about Cliff and how was he as a teacher in teaching all of us? Yeah, I mean, I think he does a really great job of making things simple, first and foremost. He doesn't overcoach. And I think that's the trust that he has in our group and his coaches, our position coaches to fill in the details. So we'll have an install meeting and it'll be a good amount of time. But then our position coaches will have time and we'll make it specific to that position. And so then we'll come in and have a walkthrough. And then after that, we'll have another walkthrough. And so I don't think there's been a time where I've come out here and I'm kind of worried about what I got. You know what I mean? And when you get into certain offices, there could be so many details where you could be overwhelmed. And I think then it forces kind of separates guys in a sense that like one guy may study more than another guy.

But when you have these sessions that we have where we're having installs in the morning, we're having two walkthroughs and then we're coming on the field and doing it. Like I think you notice a lot of guys are playing a lot faster and more confident because he's keeping it simple. So he's very particular in what he's expecting, but it's not a lot. So there's not a pressure of to get it right. But at the same time, you know, it's expected of you and you know you're going to have the tools given to you to be successful out there on the field. And this offseason, just the totality of change from front office players coaches, the turf field. What has that been like for you just to see what's going on? It's been fun. You know, I think from Mr. Harrison, the entire ownership group down to Adam Peters, down to DQ, down to Jada, who he drafted and bringing in Marcus and Jeff and all those guys and down to leaders. We have on our team. I think it was extremely specific on the way they tried to build this thing going into this year. First, having the right people, bringing in leaders, bringing in guys who love to compete.

The first thing that DQ said when he came here was in his first meeting, like if you love to compete, this is going to be the place for you. I love it. You know, I mean, I love bags and going at it with the DBS every day. Like the little mundane stuff can seem a little boring, but that's I think that was the where you make the gains during the offseason where you're really focused on. I'm going to give all I got for this day and I'm going to get better and then I'm going to learn from the film and come back tomorrow and ready to do it again. And he also understands like the benefits of having breaks. He's giving us breaks. We've had weeks off here and there that we can compose ourselves, but then come back and give it all we got. You know what I mean? And when you got a coach that understands the physicality of an entire season where you guys do need breaks by the same time we're going to get after it. It makes it fun as a leader because you can take that to your room and be like, yo, we got these we got this week. You know, I mean that's extremely important, but you know, we have this little break coming up where you're going to get your your mind and your body and your soul right.

So coming into this season, I'm really optimistic of what we can be this year. And I think it started with the foundation that the ownership group and the entire staff has built. And now it's on myself as a leader to continue to hone that in into the locker room. But I think it's great because we have so many great leaders from all across the league who have won and we got Bobby Wagner in there. You know, I mean, that's a hall of fame or so like, you know, being able to have kind of guys like that that you can lean on that can sometimes take over that leadership role where it doesn't fall on one person. I think it's extremely refreshing and knowing that everybody's on the same page and the message is the same allows you to go out there with confidence and always expected. Terry, you seem to spend many of your off seasons learning about things beyond football, hobbies, what have you doing in this off season so far to hobbies or increase your knowledge of this world around. That's a good question. Play a lot of golf. That day just keeps my competitive juices flowing.

Planning a wedding. That's going well. And I just been grinding like, honestly, you know, I mean, I've been hungry this all season. Like, I started working out, you know, pretty early and you start to see guys like coming back and it's just fun to like to be here and compete and feel like everybody's on the same page, you know what I mean. And so for me, I'm a grind every off season, but just this one just feels like it's the start of something, you know, new and special and the foundation of his extremely important to be a part of that to have a hand in that. You know, it's an honor, you know, and I put a lot of expectation on myself to come out here and be the guy that I know I'm capable of and also like taking the next step and being somebody that our quarterbacks that can trust and believe in. So this all season was pretty simple for me. It was just really about, you know, working and grinding and getting better.

And he talked about Jaden before and so far, I know we haven't seen everything. But in terms of his arm strength, the throws he's making anything surprising so far about the types of his ability in that regard. Definitely. I think after the second or third crosser that he threw, I started telling receivers like, hey, you gotta get your head around. You know what I mean? Because again, each quarterback throws the ball differently and sees the field differently. So sometimes on crossers, a lot of quarterbacks may like to see you cross the ball and get into that open zone over there. And then when he's a man flattened off, they like to see you get open with him. He has a really good anticipation over the middle of the field where he can make those throws and give you a chance to catch and run. And he's really accountable too. Like we had a play today where he felt like he missed me and, you know, it's not a big deal at all. You know what I mean? Him and I could talk to those things and there's been a play that I've talked to him about. I could do a better job. But again, like that open that open form of communication from a rookie, I think is very rare. And I think it speaks to the confidence he knows who he is, but he's also not afraid to say when he's wrong. And he knows he needs room to improve. But his touch on the deep balls is amazing.

You know, I love getting extra reps after practice with him. We're just catching the top end of a deep ball. That's big for me. You know, I mean, I get to track the ball over my shoulder and it's big for him to be able to get used to dropping the ball in the bucket. But he just naturally has an ability to throw the ball. He sees the windows really well. And now he's just, you know, continue to get adjusted to the speed in the past rush. I think he's these reps that he's getting are unbelievable during 11 on 11 because he's getting to feel pain and all in and DA and Cleveland Farrow. Like we got some dogs up there who are going to come after him. You know what I mean? And we got some great guys up front who are going to protect them. And so these reps I feel like are even better than just seven on seven. Seven on seven, I think he could do in the sleep to be fair. Like he throws the ball really well. When you get this 11 on 11, two minute drill, you're putting them in game like situations. And I'm looking at them in his eye. I'm like, we play real ball now. Like we we we playing. You know what I mean? And you just see no no anxiousness in his game and his demeanor, which is extremely exciting. And then, you know, he's extremely lighthearted and he's always smiling.

So he's joking with lime and D line. He's just cool with everybody. And like I said, like for a rookie quarterback to come in like that where guys are gravitating to him. And he's not afraid to be who he is. That's dope. I think he has a bright future for himself. The tough losses, the tough seasons can weigh on a player. You're entering the prime of your career. J.A. kind of mentioned it last year. All he cares about is winning. He wants to win now. Is there a sense of urgency? You obviously always want to win. Knowing that, you know, you're getting to the prime of your career. Like you want to win now. Yeah, I think that's a fair question. I think, you know, you start to evaluate when you I'm in year six and you know how fast it goes. And I try not to put the cart before the horse were looking too far ahead by the same time. You do want to win. You want to be a part of a winning culture and have a chance to win the Super Bowl and the playoffs and all those things. Like that's why we we do this personally. And I'm just excited with being a part of an organization in an environment where now like everybody's on the same page in the in the in the message is uniform and it speaks from the top down.

And it reflects the guys that they're bringing in, you know, all the guys that they brought in are guys who are hungry who are competitors who not only fighting for spots, but are going to help us win games. And when you're around environment like that, like that that makes you excited makes you hopeful and you know, you don't know how it's going to turn out until we start playing games. But the foundation is extremely important. I think this off season, we've really done a great job of building that they have. And then when a coach Quinn guy here building with this team. So I feel like we're going to be going into this off season really knowing what we all got to do individually to become ready for camp. But the message is clear to come back to camp ready to compete and and be ready to win. Appreciate you guys. Yeah, we should. One of the funniest guys on the team right now is playing as much. So I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt. So I can know bring younger guys with me because I've been going around.

One of those younger guys we're seeing it. It's the first time. It's heard all your life. What have you seen from Will? Because I don't know. I sure we all forgot about him because he was hurt. Now he's running you know almost a second man out behind you and tie. What have you seen? Well, it's a workhorse. He he goes, stay quiet. He gonna work hard. And that's what I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to get a job done. Do a job right. Really has any mistakes. So what what would be a successful season? A national championship. I ring when all the games we don't want to lose anything. We got a mindset that we can't be beat. We just got to go show it. That mindset different. Seems like you guys expect a national championship over here this year even more so you guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided like that. Is that this is a feeling difference or is there not really any difference? It's just the same word. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go go bigger going home and we're not trying to go home.

Finish big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did they won the national championship and you guys took them down to the final minute. Right. You know what I mean? I mean you you were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have been one that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey you guys want to win a national championship but you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year like you're that close. So I'm saying we just like work harder. That's that's kind of coach makes a saying you know nobody cares. Work harder like those know when we played Georgia the same thing. Last last play you know they went on the win in 90. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that you're that close against the last two national title? Of course it's you know it's frustrating but you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to you know come back and work harder do things better than you did last year and hopefully the outcome will change.

Is that as you get older you kind of learn. I thought I was working hard but then you always find out there's a little more. You could have been doing it. Yeah definitely. I mean that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought freshman year I was working as hard as I could but now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all. Compared to what I'm doing now so just to learn anything. What do you need it to be to be your best? 80 85 I mean I can it's all on me. I just I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny but I mean it's all on me. I just got to run harder. It's kind of the idea of the potential. I think I think I think we I definitely can last. I was just you know we got to get the young guys to come along with us. Because we can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody like online D line.

We got to get those younger guys to play you know get that pieces on the D line and online and everywhere else so we can last. Speaking of life. Did you like playing that new snap again last year? I don't know. Yeah I did unless we were like winning by like a lot. I thought like there are no mommy's you know I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games like you know Notre Dame to North those kind of games. Of course I want to be because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Tade and McDonald's he got that you guys in a second. Oh yeah definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac's animal. You haven't really seen it yet but in practice he shows all the time. He's just he's just he's growing right now. He has a work ethic. He just has to get you know in a playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen you're both listening to 6th or you're 327 he's 326. Yeah he's I kind of look at him like my my junior but you know K-Mac he's going to be a great player.

He's got to develop more and get into playbook. So really a lot on you older guys there's a large group of young guys and then there's the seniors in your back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah definitely we got to be leaders. Like I said we got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work and we got to get them right. They're in the all season so they can play and not just play they want to like contribute like make plays tackle the sex. It seems like these guys get big. Each one of the first class is bigger or bigger. And those guys kind of it doesn't kind of allow you to solve the first. Yeah they're definitely some big dudes and they all work hard. I've only seen much of some day too. I'm not passing on but throughout the workouts they've been working hard you know they're determined. I have to say that and it looks like they're ready to work with me. I'm going to score this notes. It feels like there's a lot of great defense is that you have big athletic defensive tactics.

You can eat up space but also move right through this. Is that an inquire maybe for great defense to have guys like you that have some faults but also a great feeling? I think that is definitely I think if you look at the last couple of not some championship winners like team of Northean and they got two good detacled two athletic details. Look at Georgia two athletic detacled so I think that's definitely need if you want to go on a big run because they're too big. If you think about this they're going to fight by the defense attack. What's Georgia? Jordan Davis and Janet Carter. Let's miss again is Chris Jenkins. I mean you understand it because you play it but I feel like some time I don't know are people realizing how important defense tackles are. A little bit more than they used to. I think there's starting to develop more and more of these like freakish detacles. In the combine just now you see in like those guys they're moving forward in 4-7-8 and things like that.

When you think about this freakish attack how do you fit into that mold of that kind of player? You watch that and say yeah that's me. I don't think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles but I don't want to you know get a big head but you know watch it come on. I watch the dude do the drills. I have a tape here you like to look at my film so I think I'm going to do it all the time. Do you become like an artist who comes to the bad guy who passes the figure wags hand your things? When you're going to spring practice you're not doing as much a weapon on the left hand. Do you have like an award? I don't remember how much you have lost your blood. You have an award? How many do you want to have? I mean many of them have. I think I have more than that. I think they've counted some of them and some of them were just listed. But I think we work on drills matching the hand and I think that goes big and what we do is a D line. Just affecting the quarter of the against. Any way you can is just great for the defense.

That little thing you cover in his eye you know he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our player. So it's something that you really really have to work on. It's really that's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most. You could bring your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Oh that passes through. It takes a minute and we don't have to ask. We're kind of kind of expected. I think I just have like an eye for the ball comment. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just I see him I load up. I just try to get in his ways and sometimes he throws it to me. I'm here to do it to be a high state quarterback. I mean they get frustrated by you know we're a team. We're just getting better. I should lot of a lot of different backsman and just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs and get it all right now. I don't really have a top three but I'll give you I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey auto.

He was injured this year. I like McCaffrey best back in this draft. I lead out of the yard. That's y'all that's y'all decision. Playing with Will Howard when I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard man. He's just such a great lead such a great leader man. It's just like in moments where usually a lot of players they fold. He was just always calm and relaxed man. He just the leader that he was man that's one thing I'm going to remember about him. Yeah he's he's going to be really good man. He's on Coastal like I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's man he's smart the way that he goes about his business man. He's mature and so man he's growing you know just as a person in as a player. And so man yeah definitely Ohio State you know that running back room is in great hands. Yeah coach coach Heartline man he's full of energy man and he's creative as well.

You know I'm just learning from him as well you know I'm trying to run more outside the backfield. He's definitely creative at what he does and he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so I think that would do really good. Just intensity man then since he got the playoffs every game and it's like the intensity got you know higher and higher. And so you know being able I know in the lead it's the same thing even if it's not the playoffs. I'll just every every game and intensity it keeps getting higher and higher. And so yeah you just I know you got to bring it you know each and every day and come in and work just like Ohio State. You know I definitely feel like Ohio State they definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know I just remember even before going through this process I'll talk to a lot of players before then. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them you know for the NFL. And so yeah.

Yeah. Yeah I know I took a couple days off after the national championship and then shoot right after that I'm writing sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so yeah I think while I trained I trained at your birth performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us man they did a really good job. The Bucking Nears. No I haven't. Temple of Tampa nice. It's a nice city man really nice. The 40 to broad and avert. Yeah. Yeah. And it's really all about technique and then it's about mindset as well. And so I say you know it's for the love of my brother it's for the love of Wil Howard.

It's for the love of the receivers who I got on the perimeter just making sure you know first of all my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I told will I think it was before the first game. I was like I got your brother. I said man I'm not going to let you get hit you know and so I don't know if I don't know if I gave up a sack I'm not sure that. But I know if I did I haven't given up too many and so man it's for the love of my brothers though man making sure the ball getting their hands you know the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. You can't really work on this you know in all season I feel like it's more so you know you got to put the pads on you got to go through some inside run you know maybe. I was really just continuing to run through tackles and so that's I feel like that's one of the areas in my game you know I want to continue to get better I feel like I did a good job of that my senior year and so I just want to continue to build on that. Yes I did yes I did. So people try to look like I'm going to Mario get back in person every now and then.

I did me with new Orleans as well. I never got that comparison actually I know I'm a commander sure yeah man I've come here great great back man just what he does knows one on one match up. He's dangerous man and he's so smooth he's so smooth as well I'm not going to lie he's smooth. Yeah inside zone from stack being able to hit that thing downhill and I say the next one it's probably just an option out of the backfield you know a man and man coverage you getting on that line backer and so. Yeah I say the man the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself man in a way that man he approaches the game he comes in with the mindset you know he's going to work every single week you know every practice you know he's working hard you know even shoot I don't know every good.

I think he had every game was a good game for him man and so but still man he always has the mentality to mindset that you know he's going to come in each and every day he's going to continue to work and get better man and so he's definitely man he's going to be a special player man he really is. Man a lot of ups and downs man it's just how you respond to adversity and I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better is this and I have something to lean on now you know I remember before I met him you know going through those adversity I had nothing to run to you know you can run to people but they still can't it's not too much they can't truly help you you know I feel like you know I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ and so being able to lean on him you know he can do that. He gives you in those moments where it's tough you know where it's low and when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about he gives you he gives you that peace and comfort you know even in those moments man where it's so hard that you can't you can't explain it's like man I'm going through this but like how am I still feel with this internal joy you know how do I have so much peace in this situation and so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you and so.

Which aspect to be to those other individuals who want to follow and being around power. Man, those guys have such a great mentality man I just really love their mentality especially Q as well you know I talked about will how are his leadership but Quinch on mentality man. That boy just yeah that boy just gifted you know you see you know sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like you know he should have a negative five yards and as soon as you know he you know he that running through somebody step on somebody and shoot it's a game to 10 it's a. Yeah man I think it's like he's just gifted man to be honest he's just gifted you know he's he's a big back you know he's strong and so you know he's he's able to do he's able to do those things and so yeah man it's definitely you know I look at his game and I want to you know at the same time I want to learn from Quinch on you know I want to look at this game is like man where working I get better at as well you know that's the type of player I am I'm all right I'm all right I'm going to do it.

I'm always looking to get better man I'm always looking to grow as a player. Julian San oh yeah he's going to be a great but he's going to be a great quarterback man he's so so accurate and so he's definitely man I know Coach Dez definitely going to get him right just you know continue to grow as a leader continue to grow as a player and so he's going to be really good for our state. He's I know just a quarterback position I feel like you know the quarterbacks in the past they've they've definitely been vocal and so I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask Julian San as well it's to be that vocal leader and lead the lead to offense and lead to steam. Shoot man he has he has a bill like JK Dobbins and I kind of see them you know similar he's in their game as well and I know JK Dobbins he was a great running back I feel like he's not talked about his not a lot but man his career here you watch his highlights is great. I remember before I recruit before I come here I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every every one of his years here like I record.

every one of his years here like four or five times and so man he was such a great back and I feel like you know when I see JK Dodgers when I see James people I see similarities to both of their games I feel like they play the same thanks up appreciate you all i have a cool

I'm going to be a little bit more in the back. Well, I got coming in last. I knew we're all so I just tacked every day. Really the same way. It's a very very rare physically. How different are you weight wise? Body wise? All that from America? I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240. You know, like 240. For right now. Last year I played at like 236 to 37. So what does it feel like a 240? Or maybe it's like almost a different machine. Yeah, like a... What does it feel like to be running around out there like you are? But with more... More bats. I just feel like I'm like... Like... Like more downhill, like stronger. Like I'm taking a little bloods better. It's a big... No. You see, don't think... Maybe that's not the correct term. But to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year. And you played quite a bit last year and stuff. What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? You just got to get ready to just play 30 more snaps.

But... How much are you looking forward to it from an 8-stand point? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My... The text is opener. It's a rematch. But it's not really two different teams compared to the ones that I'm going to play. How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the... Where an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, with an opener like that. With the emphasis on it a lot, we know we got coming so we know we got to do it. We've got to prepare for it. Already this is probably where it's at. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman. Like he ended up here in the book. He studied in like he advanced. And his measurements was crazy. Like he saw it like the saw it like to him. You said you were ready. You know you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready? You know whatever the team needed for you? Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year.

When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, most of me. I think I'm there. A different piece of that feeling is your banalized kicker. That's possible. Asked one more time. How different is that response feel? That's just the emotional stuff. All that. It was last year. You knew you were a homemaker. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year. But I kind of go about it the same way. Like last year I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. Is somebody you some region? It won't work? How's everybody working? I say, describe my game. I say, when you think of me, you would think of like a bullet, like a silver bullet.

I don't really have bullet. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play and think. I don't think I'm going to be my nickname. I'm not saying that you think that's what I'm saying. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's like. I'm not going to talk about the first question. That's what you're saying. That's what you're saying. I mean, how does that fit you? And what are you going to be talking about? The whole thing in that kind of side? I think it fit me because I just like the defense. I feel like we got, like you said, we got a lot of freedom. We're going around a lot of the terms. It's like, no, I don't know. I don't really know how to answer that. That's okay. Does it? You can go on your instincts a little bit more, maybe? That's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on. But it's like, I just like his defense. I like how the pressure is deep. I like what he got going on. What was it, Sadman? I'm going to see Jay left me. Yeah. Now, I wanted to much sad. I was kind of like happy for him. That's what you want.

No. No. That's my dog. I'm going to say it. Kind of missing a little bit. I'm happy for him though. I don't think you go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship you guys will win your own. How much do you feel that is a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger place and a longer summer year. Your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like, um, yeah, I do feel like I did win a national championship, but like you said, my role wasn't same as how it's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to go get another one experienced that feeling with me be on the field, a lot more place. Great. Oh, Bill, thank you very much. Thank you. I feel like I kind of have a lot of leaders on the D line at the D in position. So we kind of all kind of just kind of talk for children. I feel like we all just kind of bounce off each other and see what one person does and

what kind of build into our toolbox and we all kind of just kind of build one great thing. Okay, do you remember last year and you got the shot at the full back and the day of approaching that idea and two coached him? I mean, how did that come about? Because your checks are your floppy. Okay. It doesn't touch that. So I definitely didn't high school. I was pulled back and a little bit of tidied in. So I feel like they kind of saw what I could do there in Coach Wilson, honestly. You left Washington to the port you left and I feel like you playing that seed in Coach Day's head and Coach Day kind of just went for it and tried to do the best I could to do it. Is that continuing now? I mean, really? You need to take it to spring? New playbook. I did not know you. Yeah, I haven't got that far. Yeah, I haven't got that far. How tough is that? You know, with the track. I like to think of myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field. You need me to just give me a weaker two to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Jack, you're the same thing. Oh, yeah. Don't like what you're talking about. Graphically, that's why. I came to just talking to Coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort

of sought you and got out to have some conversations after the JT and Jack decided to come back. Just got to win into those, respect him and out of that help you maybe get the right mindset I guess I'm going to need to get started. I'm definitely kind of seeing it all the way through. I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it, how long the season is now, what you got to do to prepare for and what's happening all that time from here to to this. So I feel like we definitely just coached in me kind of connected and we kind of just talks man-to-man and he kind of just said straight to me and I feel like we kind of both have been on the way and they know we're making it. We're making each other better every day and we got the four best DNs, five best DNs, honestly, and we coached football and we're going to be one of the best D-Rimes and coached football. I think it's going to be like a better player today than you were in the beginning of the season. I feel like I'm checking big steps in my rules of just being responsible and being more of a leader and kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of bring people in and I feel like I'm kind of helping out more.

I think right here in the round, it's possible to see the TKFC. Is that sound? I mean, it sounds bizarre but I mean the season goes by so fast already. So when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow it's already week 10 so now it's kind of gives you more time to kind of enjoy it and kind of savor it because I'm already in here for like refreshments for the taste crazy. But you don't want to spend all your power in the first month of the year right there. Is that not pace yourself, Dan? I mean, there is a mindset that I did that season. Yeah definitely, definitely going to have that the mental stability that hand all those weeks and all those practices. How much has Larry talked to you guys around the field? Last question right here. 2016, 2017, 4 NFL defense events all in the same rotation. How much has he talked to that guy? I mean, he doesn't have a talk about it. We know about it. We've seen it every day. We watch the film. We see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know what it could become. So we know we're right at the same, we're at the right place at the right time and God wanted us to be here and he knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and just perfect our craft together.

I feel like we all are just great individuals and we come together and something special. Great. We plan as much. So I just wanted to get more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I've been doing a lot of good. One of those younger guys, we're seeing it out there. It's the first time I've heard all your lectures. What have you seen from Will? Because I've kind of got a question of Will. I've seen a real forgot about it because he's heard it. Now how he's running, you know, almost a second man up behind you and Ty. What have you seen in the Philippines right now? Well, as a workhorse, he goes, stay quiet. He's going to work hard and that's what I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to get the job done. Do a job right. Really has any mistakes? So what would be a successful season? A national championship? A ring? When all the games we don't want to lose anything. We got a mindset that we can't be beat. And we just got to go show it. That mindset different. It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year even more so, you guys have all come back for this.

You guys have all decided that nothing is important. Does that feel different? Or is there not really any difference? It's just the same part. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go big or go home then. We're not trying to go home. So it's finished big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. When you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute. Right? You know what I mean? You were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about like that? Hey, you guys want to win a national championship. But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying we just work harder. That's kind of a coach makes of saying, you know, nobody cares. Just work harder like those, you know, one plate Georgia is the same thing. Last, last play, you know, they went on the win in the 90s. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine.

How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles. Of course, it's frustrating. But you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year. And hopefully the outcome will change. Is that as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought that was working hard, but then you always find out there's a little more. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. I thought, friends, me, I was working as hard as I could, but now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. But to stand in the 60s. And the answer is like, what do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, 85, 85. I mean, I can, it's all on me. I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny, but I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. So I understand that you're young to have it. It's kind of a thing. The idea of the potential to stick to the 70s and 70s.

I mean, say about that idea, there's a making. You know what's about, can you last that long? You're in here for a reason, right? I think I could. I think we, I definitely can last. I was just, you know, we got to get the young guys to come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps a game. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody. Like, online, D line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know, get that pieces on the D line and the online and everywhere else. So we can last that long. Speaking of the light game, I don't know if you like playing on e-snaps again. Not here. I don't know if any of us were really expected to play that next time. Ah, yeah, I did. Unless we were like winning by like a line. I thought like there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games like, you know, Notre Dame, too, or North, those kind of games. Of course, I wouldn't be because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Kaden McDonald? Is he got the team? You guys, it was like a game. Oh, yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac's animal.

Y'all, you haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows it all the time. He's just, he's growing right now. He has to work ethic. He just has to get, you know, in a playbook and things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6th grade, you're 327, he's 326. Yeah, he's kind of looking at him like my junior, but you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and getting a playbook. It's really a lot on you, older guys. There's that large group of young guys, and there's the seniors in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I said, we've got to have them play this year. We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we've got to get them right, earn all season so they can play. And not just play, they want to contribute, like, make plays, tackle, and sex. It's a state out of our history. It seems like these guys get bigger. Each one of the freshmen class is a bigger, bigger, bigger. Those guys kind of, it doesn't kind of allow you to solve the first thing.

Yeah, they definitely need some big dudes. And they all work hard. I'm really seeing much of something a day too when I'm passing on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard, you know, they're determined. I'd say that. And it looks like they're ready to work with me. I'm going to put this notes in. It feels like, you know, there's a lot of great defenses that you have big, athletic defense tactics that you can eat up space, but also move, you know, right? It is that. Is that an environment maybe for great defense? To have guys like you that have some fault, but also a great feeling. I think that is definitely, I think if you look at the last couple of nice and much interesting winners, like, see my North, they got two good, uh, detacled, two athletic detacles. Look at Georgia, two athletic detacles. I think that's definitely need if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this, they won't defied by the defense tactics. Like, what's Jordan Davis and Janet Carter? Let's miss you again. It's Chris Jenkins.

Couple more questions. We might just wonder how, I mean, you understand this because you play it, but I feel like some time I don't know. Are people realizing how important defense tackles are? A little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop to develop more and more of these like freakiest detacles. Yeah. Like in the combine, just now, you see in like those guys, they're moving forward to 478 and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think about those freakiest out there, how do you think you fit into that mold of that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacles, but I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, watch it come on. I watch it do the drills. I have a tape here. You're like, look at my film. So I think I'm up there with all those guys. Can you become like a artist or a bunch of bad young guys? You think your legs have your things? I mean, you're going to bring practice. You're not doing as much a weapon on the light. How do you work on that?

Do you have like a gold one, Martin? I don't remember how much you've had last year. Do you have a gold one? I'm going to ask you a fine. How many people on that list? I mean, as many as I can have, I think I have more than that, but I think they've encountered. I think they've encountered some of them, and some of them were just listed. So, but I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that's, uh, goes big. And, uh, what we do is a D line, you know, just affecting the quarter of the against. Any way you can is just great for the defense. You know, just that little thing covering his eye, you know, he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our player. So, so it's something that you really, really have to work on. You can do that. What you do in the past is, it's really, that's one of the things that you can maybe work on. But, you know, you're trying here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Like, oh, that past, you guys, that's what you did. We don't have to ask this. We're kind of, kind of, kind of expected. I think I just have like, like, an eye for the ball kind of, I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him like, load up. I just try to get in his ways. And sometimes he just throws it to me. I'm irritated to do it to the Ohio State quarter. Next game.

I mean, they get frustrated, but, you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting back. I should lot of, a lot of different backs, man. They just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. You got to go right now. One, two, three. I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you, I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and... I like McCaffrey. Auto, he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. I appreciate it. Who's the best back in this drive? Best back in this drive. I lead out of the yard. That's y'all, that's y'all decision. Playing well with Howard. What I'm going to remember most. We're a Howard, man. He's just such a great leader, man. It's just like, in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players, they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. He, just the leader that he was, man. That's one thing I'm going to remember about him. Yeah, he's, he's going to be really good, man.

He's on Coach Lock. I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one, two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James people's, man. He's smart the way that he goes about his business, man. He's mature. And so, man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so, man, yeah. Definitely Ohio State. You know, that running back room is in great hands. Yeah. Coach, Coach Hartline, man. He's full of energy, man. And he's creative as well, you know, just learning from him as well, you know, trying to run more outside the backfield. He was being able to learn from Coach Hartline. And so, he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so, I think that would do really good. Just the intensity, man. And the intensity of the playoffs, every game, man. It's like the intensity got, you know, higher and higher.

And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing. Even if it's not the playoffs, just every game and intensity, it keeps getting higher and higher. Yeah. Yeah, I know I took a couple of days off after the National Championship. And then, shoot, right after that, I'm writing Sample Florida and I'm right to it. And so, yeah, I think while I trained, I trained at your morph performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man. They did a really good job.

The Bucking Nears, no, I haven't. Tampa, Tampa nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40 to broad and avert. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, man. It's really all about technique. And then it's about mindset as well. And so, I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Will Howard. It's for the love of the receiver. It's why I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I tell Will, I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit. You know, and so, I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that. But I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man. Making sure the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside

and making sure they get fed. You know, you had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now? In my game, you can't really work on this, you know, in all season. I feel like it's more so, you know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe. It's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so, that's, I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better at it. I feel like I did a good job of that in my senior year. And so, I just want to continue to build on that. Yes, I did. Yes, I did. So people say you look like a lot of morale there. You get back in nursing. You said you met a little bit more. I did meet with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camera. Sure, yeah, man. I have a Camera. Great, great back, man. Just what he does and knows, one-on-one matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not even like he's smooth. Yeah. Yeah. Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill.

And I'll say the next one is probably just an option route out of the backfield. You know, a man and man coverage. You're getting on that linebacker. Yeah. I say to man, the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game. He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard, you know, even shoot. I don't know, every good, I think he had it. Every game was a good game for him, man. And so, but still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. And so he's definitely, man, he's going to be a special player, man. He really is. Man, a lot of ups and downs, man, it's just how you respond to adversity.

And so, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, in those moments, where it's tough, you know, where it's slow. And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, he gives you that peace and comfort. You know, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so... The back of the firm, you just have power in judgment, just to explain what that goes. Which aspect to put to those other individuals, like you run to God, from being around power to Him?

Man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. Am I just really loved that mentality? Especially Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quench Am mentality, man. That boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted. You know, you see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And as soon as you know it, you know, he, that running through somebody, still farming somebody, and she was just gaining a 10. So... You know, you know, you just realized it's too different than God. Yeah. Shoot, I think... Yeah, man. I think it's just like, he's just gifted, man, too, beyond it. He's just gifted. You know, he's a big back. You know, he's strong. And so, you know, he's able to do those things. So, yeah, man, it's definitely, you know, I look at this game, and I want to, you know, at the same time. I want to learn from Quench Am. You know, I want to look at this game, and it's like, man, where can I get better at as well? That's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player. What's your last experience in the game?

Jule and San. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great, but he's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so, so accurate. And so, he's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right. Just, you know, continuing to grow as a leader, continuing to grow as a player. And so, he's going to be really good for high state. Uh... He's, I know just the quarterback position. I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've definitely been vocal. And so, I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask of Julian San as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead the offense and lead the team. Shoot, man, he has a build like JK Dobbins. And I kind of see them, you know, similarities in their game as well. And I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. I feel like he's not talked about his none. A lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights is great. I remember before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every, every one of his years here, like four or five times.

And so, man, he was such a great back. And I feel like, you know, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see James people, I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they play the same. And so, appreciate you all. This...

This... This...

The guy who's coming in last year, I knew it all. So, I just attack everyday really the same way. He's technically... He's technically a band very rough. How different are you, weight wise, body wise, all that from your... I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240, you know, like 240, 4 right now. Last year, I played it like 236 to 37. What does it feel like at 240, 4, or belly? I feel like a almost different machine out there. Yeah, what's it was it feel like we run around out there like you are but with more More back. I just feel like I'm like like Like more downhill like stronger like I'm taking all blocks better You see don't think Maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year And you played quite a bit last year instead What do you have to get straight in your head about being on the field that much more? This is gotta get ready to just play already more snaps. So

How would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an 8-stand point? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. My I'm ready for it. It's open. It's a rematch It's not really two different teams Compared to the ones that me all played and stuff How's that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the where an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, what an opener like that we've been we've been emphasizing in a lot of we know we got coming so we know we got to do we've been prepared for it I think Riley ready to play right now. He he advanced freshman like he in the he in the book He's studying like he advanced and his measurements crazy like he saw like saw lots of What was that process like during last season could you feel yourself? Decoming more and more ready Yeah, cuz that's pretty much what my role was just whenever I was needed I had to step up So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year

When you say ready is it more a physical thing? When I say ready I think it's pretty much like everything physically mentally mostly I think I'm there A different is that I still want one time I feel like it's a It's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year, but I kind of go about it the same way like last year. I was intentional with everything I did I feel like this year it's gonna be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more What word I say Skrab my guy I say like when you think of me you think of like a like a bullet like a silver bullet

I don't really do No, I ain't I gotta be my nickname, but oh Think it fit me cuz I Know I just like the defense. I feel like we got like you said we got a lot of freedom and we moving around a lot A lot of the terms is like no, I don't know. I don't really not answer that I don't even know if I say that cuz there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like I just like it's deep I like hope it's a deep because I like what you got going on Now I want to my sad I was kind of like happy for you Yeah, that's what you want

That's my dog. I don't see it kind of missing a little bit, but yeah, I'm happy for you I don't think go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year But maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for that wasn't maybe your national championship You guys know how much do you feel that as a guy who certainly contributed last year? But we'll be in this bigger role and Yeah, I do feel like um, yeah, I do feel like I did one of the last year But like you said my role wasn't same as how's gonna be this year So yeah, I definitely want to go get another one experienced that like feeling maybe on the field a lot more place Championship unique and you know before and everything like that and also need your your teeth knocked in You know first game and you can't have that happen because then you know really doesn't mean anything And so just the concept mindset to continually get better But on the forefront of my mind and forefront of anyone here you can ask

Yeah Yeah, I know we look at the class sets every now and then I'd be like oh man. They're gone. They're gone No, it's been it's been good. I mean the guys who are still here I must have definitely kind of bonded together pretty good Yeah, I mean you know, Mark came in other days like That class 21 best class ever and like yeah sure, okay, you know, I can't really can't really even you know Just sitting to that you know not much left, but Yeah, I mean to do what we can and do we can't for this team has been really important for all of us and I think us Now realizing where the veterans, you know, like with all guys now in the group has been Kind of strange at least to begin with you know because you go from All those guys you like Donnie and Josh and those guys and all of sudden it's Sunday. We have a team meeting after the

Like the celebration the shoe and all of some the next day that was gone and you know It's just very different. So I think us being able to step up as you know leaders and as As vets to help bring out you know along the team are units and this program has been really important Yeah No, it's been doing really well. I mean I could go and he goes to work He's extremely athletic extremely flexible You know, he's a young kid. Honestly, he's a lot of a lot of development a lot of he's a little adversity at all of us do But I think he's going through that right now, but he's been coming out on the better end of it so far and I'm excited to see what he can do because he's very impressive at this young stage

You guys have Yeah, extremely excited. I mean Trying to just build that culture back up again. You know like what we had last year I'm trying to do a little stuff here in there and I can know I think we're going to Ray raise a barbecue. I think tomorrow So shout out Ray raise, but But yeah, just trying to get that brotherhood back get that you know that oblock spirit back sure it's coming soon soon Hopefully But just to kind of get those Not those same faces, but those same kind of mindsets back and our our group is important right now and it's it's been fun to Meet new guys from different backgrounds and stuff like that and try to Figure out how to you know build that and mend that together. It's been pretty cool now As you are one of the boasters experienced veterans on this team. How much do you feel like you have to be a leader for the students here? Yeah, for sure. I mean, I think that comes um I It's it's obviously I don't feel like it's natural to anyone to immediately step up and that's something I've been working on every day and talking to God about

um, but I have to understand that and that's something I want to continue to work on. I want to be able to um Be a guy that people can fall back on and like coach was saying before like we're gonna have highs in those but the great players The ones being set are clocks too and I kind of want that's my goal as to be one of those people that you can do that um And I think for especially a very new set of eyes in the woody Not only coaches but players. I think it's very important to kind of keep that steady mindset and I think for me learning how to be a leader has been important just to Not be too hard on myself, but also not let myself kind of slack off in some departments. They try to keep um steady Just your story itself though is Testament What it means to like for perseverance is tough to though right car something You know, that's a nice to have to stand up from somebody to say that right. I mean just Yeah, what do you what do you think you've shown more than anything else in every card? Yeah, I mean, I've been blessed You know, I've you know, I've been blessed with a lot of adversity. I think it's definitely made me better on the back end and

You know Coach so it Coach day always talks about it and you don't You know great leaders aren't you know, they can show it But you know a lot of people can show it a lot of people can just talk about it But to be about it is important and I think It's been of went through a lot of that adversity. I went through a lot of that stuff and um my testament, you know, has been Written in an interesting way But I think for me to take that next step is really important for not only for this team, but for myself personally Yeah, uh, he's been doing great. I mean he came in um Big freaking strong. He's fun to be in the weight room with He's uh He's kind of quiet like that's kind of my first impression on but he's actually pretty funny dude He and his dad come over and they kind of joke around and he's so he's been doing a great job All right, I can't talk he's been a great job um for his size. He has like freaky athletic feet like I watch and do the ladders and I was a lot of massive over on and those things, you know doing a little itch shuffle But I mean he he was he was killing it and so he's been doing a great job. I can't wait to see um

How it kind of continues to develop um throughout this summer and uh throughout this fall camp First thing I mean Yeah, piggy's been doing great. I mean he um He stepped up piggy. Yeah. Yeah, everyone refers to this piggy is his username one time nice everyone's piggy But anyway, um, you know, pig's been doing great. He uh He's been able to step up and kind of bring around along those younger guys You know, everyone's kind of trying to figure out their their new roles and I think he's been uh He's been doing a lot of things big body guy that he's casted by Can run between the tacos His feet are quicker than once you think for a big guy. Yeah, really good feet and good balance That's what makes him good. That's what I saw Uh, well tight end background. No, I don't know many with that type of background But when he's high school, we see that they try to play as an age back

Well When you look in the portal for Trying to recruit running backs does it matter to you if you have two different styles running backs me one guy can Sort of things better one guy can use you because there is it you'll just say the best running back if you find you I want to have different stuff You want to take guys with different Whether they're big guys small guys Catchers in between the type of runners I know You know, I don't want to say this thing about all different different different Will and please show a lot of No, I am on You know the sad thing in the company Hey, Jordan James out of order You know, he's my Grins on Brown and show y'all In probably way to two ten or two five, which is not very big

But then you got to do with being some guys you got to know Sticking down his own and you play with a lot of aggression down here running And that could be CZ8 that could be James or what could be the freshman objects No, it's just who has a nose for giving his own But that's that's one more No, just because you're being there. I'll make it off We need to get obviously you know freshman running back from it and And there here, but what do you need to see from a freshman to feel comfortable with that Thanks In the first thing where they're on the ball Well, they would they do the little small detail. They take care of the ball Um, the second thing will be how good they Passport because it's the hardest thing for high school backs because they're not really here in high school We have to understand the past but by all their files on who Me so

You feel comfortable with with bow and I say where they're at or at least you know where their time lies Yeah, I think it's fine. I can say I tell all the young guys. He's a marathon. I was The first day first you've been an armor spider special to know your own spot special to the name You're in the right to be a buck out So they get out down the field so I think they're training the right first practice Like it wasn't merit to build off Uh, cleaning stuff to work on Good yeah Long day In this year seeing him working with you guys Josh will make it sounds like they're definitely picking up quick I mean, I was in their shoes one time and I had Zach Harrison, Javante Tyler Freidel in front of me So I was trying to be one of those peers that they were for me and kind of just given them the steps to get there

And I feel like they're definitely picking up quick and they're definitely going to be one of the great Russians So Um, I feel like all the camps I've definitely gotten a big course word and I love that side as coach Jay for I love getting more Rex because I just like protecting my craft so I mean Some people may not need it some other people needed but I mean I just like you as me I mean for me it's always just kind of getting my little details perfectly like my steps my footing kind of just affecting my toolbox And what we call it my craft and just trying to be a it's like a whenever every place what kind of We're not taking big issues

Yeah, um definitely just getting stronger faster everything all the above But uh one of my big things is being a leader and kind of just not trying to look still look up to Jack and Jay So you kind of have my own kind of leadership and be able to bring people into so I feel like kind of have a lot of leaders on the B-line and we had to be in position so we kind of all kind of just bounce off the Um, they're competitive and we love it. We all competitive people. We all love to fish each other That's the way to bring the best out of all this We're all just kind of bouncing off each other and see what one person does and we kind of Better than the archival box and we all kind of just kind of build one great thing Hey, you're gonna go last year and you got to get the shot And

So I definitely did it in high school. I was pulled back and a little bit tired So I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there and coach Wilson honestly you love watching it too And uh, I feel like you playing that seed and coach day's head and coach day kind of just went for it and I tried to do the best I could to do it New play about guy to not know yet. Yeah, I haven't got that far Um, I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field you need me to just give me a Weakertu to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Kid Jack, you're the same thing. Oh, yeah Graphically that's what He's talking to coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of start you and Conversations after JT and Jack decided to come back Just got to wait into those weird things. But didn't and how did that help you maybe get the like mindset? Um, definitely kind of seeing it all the way through I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it

How long the season is now what you got to do to prepare for and what to happen and all that time from here to to then So I feel like we definitely just coached in me kind of connected We kind of just talks man-to-man and uh, he kind of dissent straight to me and I feel like You kind of both are pretty good. I'm making it. Yeah, I'm making each other better every day We got the four best the ends five best the ends honestly in the college football and we're gonna be one of the best The lines and talks football. I feel like a better player today than you work in Oh, I feel like I've taken big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more of a leader and kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team And kind of drink people in and I feel like I'm kind of helping out more I Mean it sounds bizarre, but I mean the season goes by so fast already so when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow It's already weekend so now it's kind of Get you more time to kind of enjoy it kind of savor it because

Yeah, definitely definitely gonna have that the mental stability to handle all those weeks all those practices How much is Larry talking guys? Last question right here I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We've seen it every day We watched the film. We see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know we could become so we know We we're right at the same at the right place at the right time and God wanted us to be here and he knew we One of us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and just perfect our crap together And I feel like we are just great individuals and you come together I feel like I've made the plays that came to me and that's really awesome in control um had more opportunities as he years progressed and been in spots to be here on the ball um, but expectation was to come here and contribute to the team and try to help find a way to

Push the team to win games at high level and to be better than They were actually in for me to play better than I was actually So really just coming to try to grow with myself and with the team So that was my big goal and I feel like I've done a good job and the team has done a good job progressing through the game getting better So yeah, that's all I say about that Okay, the right thing may not have been wrong Yeah, I'm gonna tell you right now Just just feel like like a different season. What does it feel like for you going into playoffs? You know, you know, you'll get to go you wanted necessarily the regular season but here you are Right, I mean what what is that sense that you have right now? That's different About the regular season I mean everybody wants to say it's a new season in terms of Because if everybody's more zero and zero right now you'd be when you keep going if you lose your done So I mean, but genuinely like that's how you deploy every game You know that play every game like it's your last game So for me, I don't think it's really any difference to be able to go play

I love every game and that can't be based upon Is it playing So I would say in terms of that no, you just have to play the game and play the game instead What feels difficult is defense right now going into this so y'all feel even more You know Um, I feel like we progressed throughout the season We didn't make a change after Game six because we lost and we didn't play well again And I feel like we'd grow up from that and add to a better place and Over these past two weeks off just Realizing okay, these are the things that we messed up throughout the year These are what we need to fix these are what this team is trying to exploit on us So just really going back to everything seem looking to better for this kind of game

As I feel like it makes the game more and more again Um, it makes you receive it's on your dbs at the place that they're getting in the guys up front Um, and it makes it truthfully like those guys have to do their job when these guys have to do your job You gotta be able to stop the run with the people they have in the run fit and yet to be able to stop their path with the people they have out there So that's that's what they do and they do it at a really low. So So we thought we're going The speed at which All right, it allows you to get your feet senator by that So earlier just a ability to see the formation see what keys that you have before the play and have knowledge of your job and not really thinking Being able to play and not playing during the games are really big thing

Um, so Whenever you can get the call out faster and play at high level and play without Shut up Uh, so I definitely didn't high school. I was pulled back and a little bit of tidan So I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there and coach Wilson Obviously he left watching it too before he left and uh Feel like you playing that seed and coach day's head and coach day kind of just went for it and uh try to do the best I could do it Oh New playbook I did not know you got that far Um, I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field you need me to just give me a Weakertu to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Can you check me the same thing? Oh, yeah For athletes that's why Can you just talk into coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of start using

Out to have some conversations after JT and Jack decided to come out Get away into those and you're expecting and how did that help you maybe get the right mindset against Um, definitely kind of seeing it all the way through I feel like the people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it How long the season is now what you got to do to prepare for and what to happen in all that time from here to to then So uh, I feel like we definitely just coach day and me kind of connected We kind of just talks man-to-man and uh, he kind of just sent straight to me and I feel like You kind of both Making each other better every day. We got the four best the ends five best the ends honestly in the College football and we're gonna be one of the best you lines in coach football But you feel the better player today anymore again this season Oh, I feel like I've taken big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more of a leader and Kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of bring people in and Feel like you kind of helping out more

But I mean the season goes by so fast already So when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow, it's already week 10 and so now it's kind of It's more time to kind of enjoy it kind of save it because I mean there's a mindset Yeah, definitely definitely gonna have to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practices How much is Larry talk to you guys around the Last question right here I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We see him in every day We watch the film. We see him all working together. We know what it could be. We know we could become So we know we we're right at the same at the right place at the right time and god wanted us to be here And he knew me wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and Just perfect our craft together and I feel like we are just great individuals and become together

Great you get like good coaches who believe in you and like they give you the tools to go out there and just play with confidence You know not their doubting those stuff like you got your teammates who got your back like my first play when I got up there to see Like when to sail Like personally, they say like no worry. Just go out there play with confidence You know you know the tools is usual tools. Just go out there and make a play and where about a play coming you Now we're just so time to show job. We just do it and then like say what coach war like he gives me He puts me to position like at the drills we put in the work you put in the 101 so to just go out there and just perform at the highest level How much better are you right now than maybe last month and for spring right? I mean, I got way better just because I Of transition a little bit to the inside Nicholas Fawsell. I'm like now. I actually feel like catch catch take me again And often covers not it's not always press at the lawn. So it's like not maybe like move my feet move my hands like See like what I gotta do just like just a case. I gotta go back in corner. I can I'm playing off now. I'm very confident out there Do you think that was an actual fifth of you or have you had to kind of convince yourself to transition around?

I mean, I feel like it's natural for me because I feel like me Individually, I'm a fast learner. I'm a fast learner like coaches help us like learn fast Like because they're always honest about the techniques and stuff So you like you play down like you pick up on all the things and then like when we get out here They coached to like the technique so we used to go out there and play like fast spot And it's been like I would like mercitily be able to go out there and just compete Is that where you kind of stuff this spring or do you get kind of out there? Uh, so I'm really been stuck there this spring to a little bit right Whenever you get it's like other things I just bounce out there every once in a while Just like have just have fun See if I still got it every once in a while So it's as good as go out there to compete at most spots. You mentioned the technique What technique you know tips and things that you had to pick up and learn from I mean, you said always like you are because what preaches are asking hands like see it You see it move your feet and then get your hands on the man So it's like when you be like when you out there you able to like just process like the way the receiver come off the ball

Looking at the hips and seeing like the way he moving So you able to pick up like the row concepts you can get out of that like so it's being like undercooked walls for me Like as a player and just like him breaking out football to you like one-on-one It's like very beneficial I really say like the corner you got to cover two you cover three you cover one us like it's easy You got nickel that's so many responsibilities you got to see like the row concepts you got to be able to process Like I ain't no as fast or then what you got to do my corner and just be able to like everything Quid like you're transitioning. You got like you got to move fast It's like game recognition I was definitely saying I definitely say yes because how you get to like college? Just a little bit different like high school. We don't got to worry about things like that When I want you to get to like college or school like this like your recognition of plays And like you know your jobs the way like the coverage is supposed to be played

I understand all your teammates are supposed to get a feel because I guess easy He's very talented He's a great dude. He's a humble guy great teammate very supportive As I got that you know on the wrong because you like you can feed off your energy because you like You can see like we make a place high like he like IGB It's like IGB two-pointers. He's like We get off there with guys like that with good energy. I've made you play a little bit harder And then like when you make a place out there, it's helping you like it's being out there with him He's a good player. One of those guys questions and four kids Obviously Now what is it about one bill that gets you to play it? It's a big question I know I'm just Because we have so many kids come out of Google and just play at games I leave like elite schools and then like like tracks a big part of it because So actually in a good way everybody that I run track like it's minutes right you don't really get a choice

So you able to just like get out here and like know how to compete and then like G like Game builds that mental toughness into you so like Have you like if you're now you got to be mentally tough because I mean Life's not gonna be easy. So it's like being out here being out with the pee when you down just pick yourself back up I mean that's a dance down to me. That's a good We ask you to how you describe the mentality of the defense right now It's opportunity for a great national warden. Yeah hungry and thankful. I mean We know how the last last time when you know, we uh, we had a chip on our shoulder I mean we're right in high before that game and we take that loss and we came back had to make a couple changes I think we understand what you know everything's at stake right now um, you know Just fighting to where another house stages for next game. That's what's on stake and just uh Be able to represent this this uh this stay in this uh this team I mean we understand what's uh what's on the line and you know We're just hungry and blessed that we get this opportunity to play in the Rose Bowl Right behind your Adam King that we've been asked What do you remember most about walking off the field in Eugene? What was kind of old to your eyes in that moment? I just uh

I mean there is a I don't think anybody imagined it imagine us losing um, you know, I didn't That's for sure and I think after that it was uh Kind of hit deep Understanding that man we still there's still a lot of ball left to be played I mean you can let it sting for a little bit But you know if you let it carry over too long then you know there there goes there goes your whole Season by I think we did a great job of just Understanding coming together in this room right here Um, not being afraid to display um or hold a accountability for one another and you know as as that happened He came back regrouped and you know, we're just You're going right now And I'm just blessed for those specific moments, you know losing I mean no one wants to lose but the the testimonies and the things are taught within those little situations speaks of all of them Central over

Yeah, I mean that's that's my boy. He's in the r2x club too, but um, you know Keyata, I mean every time there's his numbers call he goes out there and makes the most of it No, no matter Where where we at in the game when he goes out there, he's just hungry He wants to go make plays and and you know, we see it in practice. So it's not surprising to us There were been a while this this back Still in Gabriel's obviously very elusive in her talent and he's not very tall Um, how important it could be to just kind of stay in your Past rush lanes and neglect a lot of balls and kind of make a difference that way Yeah, I think it just comes on being disciplined No one who you're playing against like you said then he's a he sure but he's very elusive I mean he can he is making throws. I mean he get out the parking to everything So I think for us we just have to discipline and just continue to just Meet with coach Jay me with the coach knows and understand how we can just eliminate that I should about you and jack. I mean You're personally seem to be a little different you more on the quiet side. He's

Yeah, how about you play together four years both five store guys kind of describe your relationship with him friendship with him. Yeah, just kind of how you pop them each other Man, that's my brother like he said. Um, we're different but very alike Think outside on like you said he's louder. I'm quiet, but you know, once we're on that field are like the same person Where we'll do anything for this team, you know, we'll die for our players and we'll give everything we got Room together for four years correct. Yeah fall camp Yeah, sometimes go over there. So over there We have our share of days when we when I'm neat. He's neat or you know, we might both be messy, but we do we do a good job Yeah, I'd probably say I would better kick the jack though Tony Gertman like I help When you're playing a team for the second time and that was almost a season to go by now. How much of Are you at square one with with the scouting and preparation or how much do you take from that game?

How much do you avoid taking so that you don't have any previously notion to what you're going up against now On the offensive line. I say it's it's pretty 50 50. I mean That game like you said it was a while ago, but at the same time they elevated as a team So did we so we understand that they they had they made some changes for sure um, you know, there's taint. There's a certain density we can take back from that game But we also understand that um they went on a low run after that and we can see that they elevated as an offense So we just got to continue to watch those games dissect the other games and just continue to see What stands out and what they change from the for the past game We got a couple calls on zoom that will wrap up with first. We have Nick Hamilton from nightcast media Uh Just wanted to ask you basically about the synergy of this defense and how you guys were able to Not only celebrate the triumphs but get through the adversity be able to be this top-notch defense that you are a college football today

Uh Here you repeat the question one more time. Yeah, no problem Uh, I wanted to ask you about the synergy you are we're able to develop over course of the season Obviously celebrating the triumphs, but also getting through the adversities to where you go all other top-notch defense that you all are today Yeah, I mean like you said that we went through a lot of trials to trials Um, but there's also there's a lot of things we can take away from all the wins and losses Um, and from those those wins we understood that hey, we can be the best Defensive of the country and from those losses we understand that there's still Things that need to be fixed and I think when you take all that in at once um That comes out to the the comical or the comment talk, which is you can there's always learning points everywhere And depending how we dissect those games or how we just continue to come as one and elevate um, you know, we we continue to just Collect all those those learning points and just continue to grow from them And one final question Joey Coffin Columbus dispatch Joey

JT uh, what if what have you guys done better and the Especially in the Tennessee game and just latin this season you think about turning some of the the pressures that you've got on a quarterbacks in the sacks and getting at home in some of those situations Yeah, I think it was more just uh understanding the defense as a whole understanding everybody's job Thing as the season went on we get to understand that you know, we have to know what's going on the back And we have to know what's going on the linebacker crew to understand uh What plays we have room of freedom and I think once we understood that and got a better understanding of the of everybody's job I mean it it showed this play because you know everybody else we should is doing. It's not like the lineback's know what they're doing Uh, the corners and be I they know only their job. I think we all know each other's job and we continue to ask each other questions Um, on you know, if they're listening how they can get to the quarterback and you know if i'm dropping Playing quarterbacks by i can ask Cody on how to open field tackle So, you know, we just we just kind of lean on each other's understanding because uh, you know

Like I said like Denzel knows how to play corner bend it and I know how to play corner So you know, he has more more wisdom at that position than I do JT thank you very much You Definitely a little bit of both Obviously, I just want to the team to win. I think we got a chance to win No, definitely towards it and then stretch that last drive I was a couple plays here a couple calls that he made me should have gotten but um I think the frustration more so it just comes from no one's into win or anything You said he was a little surprised how much attention you got right away from your defense. How about you? Yeah, definitely always we maybe killed a more one of ones kind of how the game playing was set up um Didn't got like no different covers like cloud to my side and this is kind of how the game goes What's the process then? Where whatever reason just just see that. Yeah, definitely um especially in college a lot of the game fans defensively were taking your life Um, you know, we had a lot of success at a high-speed with one of the boys having different

The weapons and kind of still get the victories and um, I was yeah, you continue to do better jobs when I hear My heart's in the rotation the process been like post game Getting on the same page with Kyler Just exchange text or you guys in the film. Yeah film them definitely um kind of asking what did I see there kind of go over and play and um That's how I get him when I saw and kind of different feedback There Marv I get it. We're asking questions about the previous game bar You the type of guy to let a game like that winger or how do you flush it? You got to move on kind of move on some long season Got like 16 more of them. Hopefully no, I can stay healthy throughout the year and Just continue to build and get better each week You guys did so much work throughout the off season to get on the same page How different is it when you get into that regular season? Yeah, it's totally different. It's totally different You can do a lot of things know and shirts and shorts and then once you go out there put crackers and you got pads on You do like the point practice we do with the colds, but there's nothing like actually going out there

Um, no live action and really trying to be on the same page So I think that relationship will continue to develop Did it just a matter of rubs them Yeah, I think definitely um like I said, I was kind of my first live action together Um, so I can continue to be back when you're early impression Uh, yeah, but No, obviously I have a death certificate. There's JG's call or preseason and I obviously be all feel really healthy That's kind of best and most important thing. I was thinking about healthy even going for it. So Um Marvin, what are your early impressions of the Rams? What do you think of the Rams? Yeah, I mean they're a good team. They're good physical team I got a new lot of new guys upfront. I think that's kind of where they're strong suit is Um kind of a little different to Buffalo come more to a little match coverage So I'm excited to build this When the belts take taking one of my Wasn't many of them Wasn't many of them so I thought I think

I'm just where you think game versus just playing you know not getting a preseason game and I think it was three It's definitely definitely thinking a lot out there and um You know, I think I'll come with reps. I think the thinking less and just going out there and playing definitely come with reps And it's something you're all getting better at but Definitely I was thinking a lot of Yeah, I mean you just got to team you get open for yourself making yourself available Uh, and when the ball does get away making the play Uh, this If he's just taking you away then these other guys are having a chance to get open. So uh, that's not kind of how I look at it It's no longer since it's in our offense Uh, hopefully sooner or later I think um, I'll continue to see. Let's see. I don't think we're in a bad place right now at all Obviously, I don't really think that but uh just a live reps will continue to grow and show And how I believe maybe different than somebody else maybe

You know, I like to practice at least like the positive You know, I mean so but He the energy yeah, we're beyond just oh Hi Go on My whole life Team captain like specifically and I felt I wasn't a captain in high school Wasn't a captain in college But I'll make a joke on high school. So I feel like I'm not gonna be a captain like it's that I felt Yeah But that would be awesome, you know, but you know, it happens up. You great, but not either way I want to assume a role as a captain from To Perspective the guys onto the video or to get back in that Yeah, I mean, I can't say that um, I mean, I guess the biggest thing is that I felt it has felt Like how you used to move past, but it didn't take just the first LTAs and took

Train and left and right once this season and because I know what it was gonna be So Gramps Just to get back to feeling like myself for day one of t.A.s And then that whole first week But now like today specifically just changing some small things with my feet that is it talking about Oh, I'm coached I some things I'm doing my feet to get to that to sell that traditional angle that I love to sit on Thought even I thought I felt thought I felt great already But okay, I felt even better of it. Sorry, the more excited tomorrow now get on my feedback and how I like the right side I mean obviously I feel like In the league whether I left the right you're still going against premier guys Obviously your high expectations for your left hand are like tackle But um, there's definitely the like the A level of energy and like the expectation definitely taking the humans Because now tonight it applies like that's the as the tackle

You know, so um So yeah, I would say in terms of communication as far as this Outside of the facility just stuff like that like really creating that but tackle quarterback Bonnie the mom to be all I think has been something that's Even cool I got the text one day You know, yeah, I've been training both. I've been training both You know, I I asked after the season there like honestly You know, we'll talk to you so play season and I just got a text on Having what happens with the free agency Then so I was like, you know what I have Oseason right tackle So if I get the word I'm going I'm staying right tackle I'll just do what I did before I'm build on that bus. I was almost trained to left tackle now As if we're gonna be left tackle And I'd rather do that than train all the right time with the co-a You know what I mean? So I'm like, let me just prepare an advance. I was like, yeah, it was God, you know

I think occasionally on third down there be a lot of twists And I think that was my mindset for like the first half of the season Like I didn't have to go into game with surprise like oh my gosh, I did that. I kind of figured like, okay This is this is the type of rush. I mean again. This is how this guy usually rushes If I get the vibe this is how the ends like the rush you know tackles that first year guys we got the premier patch on Already, you know what it was gonna be already, you know And honestly just knowing that's kind of an advantage To so you're not you're not you're not oh the problems with my side It was never air-dome Like three plays in a row You know what I mean? So I'm watching more everybody else and he rarely really you know goes out there on occasional third down me You know what I mean? So Fact it's kind of it's also kind of an engine away, but it's also exciting like okay, I'm gonna get the

hardest look you know those are real real reps Really out on our way to kind of process And I was like hey when I tell me Let me know about I'm just gonna train it. I was training all left To TAs I guess if I didn't hear anything about TAs out of camera like So you know what I mean Cuz just like I'm cool with training both continue. I would have been cool training both continually But I feel like anybody any position will be like okay like You want as soon as possible We would have been hard to get you work both very how to use No They're definitely but in terms of the development Um, it's definitely a lot faster Stay on all one side, but I think having that the weeks that we had the transitional seasons over

I'm like, oh, fine. You know good I'm trying to put them in Things that time right now, but When it comes back on the show in the new house So it's got a house not too far from So I told him I got that house like I got a yellow side You know That's doesn't have any stock or anything doesn't mean anything so um, we're we have to play On Friday and that's really all that matters We're gonna take two more from zoom before turning it back A first one's gonna come from Stephen from Cleveland.com go ahead Well, it's the fun. I'm sorry Hey, Caleb We've seen you were talking about the Ohio State Office the success that they've had Obviously Jeremiah has been a big part of that. What's it been like this year going against him in practice and you know After doing that. There's a surprise at all to see him having a success. He's had as a freshman

No, it doesn't bring surprises It was pretty pretty easy to see the talent that he has and the blessings that God has put on his plate But it's always a it's always a challenge going against Jeremiah and the other receivers and Mecca and Carnival practice And even guys like Brandon and his impression Rogers. They they do a great job bringing looks for the defense and Create a lot of obstacles I found a question from zoom is gonna come from Dan Hope Go ahead Dan Caleb you Quinn had a lot of success against you guys when you played him at Alabama last year Just what do you remember from going up against him last year and what can you learn from that game? Really smart quarterback knows how to operate their offense Puzzle ball in the right places and then of course our keys and does a great job putting him in positions to win All right back to you. Yep. Thank you Rob all our club is dispatched Caleb JT and Jack land opposite sides are they is opposite off the field as they are on in terms of personality and

That people they are They're offices, but they also like One of the closest people I know they spend a lot of time together They've come from different sides of the country so they're different people for sure, but they're both Really great people are really great men. I'm sorry. I respect both them Um I'm not gonna do that. I'm sorry Throughout the throughout the season we would always see you on Wednesday nights you and lathe And would be some of the last people off the field For the things that you're working on after practice always the same is it a routine? What are the things that you're hoping to get out of those extra moments after practice? Uh, so routine pretty much the the keys that we need to go into the game with and then also changes Week to week on based on what our jobs are gonna put us into doing um, so

Every week we go through the same things and then we add certain things that we do for the week for the what the team that we play is gonna ask us a Bill we're been on Columbus this batch. Yeah, I already got one here. Oh, okay. Uh, Joey Kauffman club is dispatched Cuban one Take this uses play action and they use action to prepare what's what do they do? They do a really good job with eye candy Then it creates a lot of challenges for defense in order to see if it's runner path and see Because that's when they're gonna take their shots to as well So really just having great eye discipline seeing the line is seeing what is telling us So that's just what it does Keep right Letterman roll. Hey, you guys had a pretty good game plan for Tyler Warren when you guys play him You guys have another What do you guys kind of have to do to limit him and how to what do you think about his game? Uh, he's a really good player. He makes a lot of plays and he's has a lot of receiving yards this year

So really just do the same thing we've done all year just be disciplined in our responsibilities and if you're on them You gotta make the play when it comes Right Well a lot of really good athletes I play with Isaiah Bond last year who's a really great receiver a lot of speed And then all the receivers have made a lot of plays So I mean everybody has to be on the peasy queue as if we're gonna stop them and have it do a really good job Front row here 10 May letterman roll. Yeah, kill but you move up here I'll have to get to you when you move it basically year ago And stuff A little bit of a leap of faith because you know you know how Many athletes are on this team get athletes to stuff But why don't you really feel this defense come into its own and then then pass that man watching in the Rose Bowl

You're recognition of what was coming seem to be on point did it feel like that? I mean you personally I think the defenses played really well throughout the season. I think we've had games where we played better and games where we haven't put it all together, but I think that's how all defenses are So I can't say there's a certain moment where I think we put it together But what's your second party question? You seem really on point Against Oregon about recognizing what was what was coming. I mean you were really active out there Directing and things like that did it feel like that? I guess I feel like As Luke said earlier the preparation that we put in goes into that and just feeling comfortable And what we're doing comfortable and what we're seeing with the other teams. I feel like that's a that allows us to play fast and Can me and late into communicate everybody else? Do I miss anyone's questions here? Steve how long and 24-7 sports? Yeah, Caleb You came to high-stake to play for national championship and there were a lot of ups and downs throughout the season

Just to be in this position the last four teams still live just you feel validated by that and did you always have Faith that this is how it was gonna turn out. I came to a high-stake to become a better player and to help the team be as good as it can be not to win a National championship not like that wasn't the only goal for me coming here Really just wanted to be in the team and be my be with the brotherhood But it's a it's a great feeling being in the final four and being with the team and Everything that comes with that, but it's a blessing to be here And one final question, Bill Reben, what's the club? Is this guy? Yeah, I did want to follow when I talked just At the end of the game you said when they scored there first and second touchdown You were really hot on the sidelines. What was what was your message to the team and you know, that's a good off That's they're gonna score against most people. Why were you so hot really just because we didn't execute which left them score so We've done that a lot which is something we can't do in these big games and these games where

It's winter go home So we got to make the plays when they come and Got our competitive excellence as coach Dacin's make the play where your numbers call Gaila, thank you very much. I feel like they're definitely picking up quick I mean I was in their shoes one time and I had Zach Harrison, Javonte and Tyler Friedell in front of me So I was trying to be kind of one of those peers that they were for me and kind of just given them the steps to get there And I feel like they're definitely picking up quick and they're definitely gonna be one of great freshmen Um, I feel like all the camps I've definitely gotten a big course load and I love that so I asked coach Jay for I love getting more reps because I just like protecting my craft So I mean some people may not need it some other people needed but I mean I'm just like you guys may represent me

I mean for me it's always just kind of getting my little details perfectly like my steps my footing Kind of just perfecting my toolbox is what we call it my craft and trying to be a So I can win every place what kind of do Yeah, um, definitely just getting stronger faster everything all they but one of my big things would be a leader and kind of just Not trying to look still look up to Jack and JT and kind of have my own kind of leadership and be able to bring people into So I feel like kind of have a lot of leaders on the D line and at the D in position So we kind of just kind of talk about And try to put it in the list Um, it's repetitive and we love it. We all competitive people. We all love to fish each other And I feel like the springing the best side of all is we're all just

Kind of bouncing off each other to see what one person does and to kind of build into our toolbox and we all kind of just Kind of build one great thing Because you heard Jackson all your floppy Oh, yeah, it gets test So I definitely didn't high school. I was full back and a little bit tired and so I feel like It kind of saw what I could do there and coach Wilson honestly He left watching it too before he left and uh I feel like he planned that seed and coach day's head and coach day kind of just went for it and Try to do the best I could to do it New playbook item. I know you and got that far Look Um, I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any professional field you need me to just give me a Weakertu to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Good Jack. You're the same thing. Oh, yeah

Graphically that's why He's talking to coach Johnson on Tuesday about so the conversations and so it's not you and you got out to have some conversations After JT and Jack decided to contact just got a win into those Music and how did that help you really get the right mindset? Um definitely kind of seeing it all the way through I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it How long the season is now what you got to do to prepare for and what happened in all that time from here to to then So uh, I feel like we definitely just coached getting me kind of connected and we kind of just talks man-to-man and He kind of just sat straight to me and I feel like I'm kind of both Making each other better every day. We got the four best Dn's five best Dn's honestly in the college football And we're gonna be one of the best D lines in college football. I feel like a better player today I feel like I'm taking big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more of a leader and

Kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team They kind of bring people in and I feel like we kind of helping out more I mean it sounds bizarre, but I mean the season goes by so fast already So when you're kind of like week 10 in you're like wow, it's already week 10. So now it's kind of It's a more time to kind of enjoy it kind of save it because Not pace yourself. I mean there's a light Yeah, definitely definitely gonna have to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks and all those practices I mean he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. We've seen it every day We watched the film we see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know we could become so we know

We're right at the same right the right place at the right time and God wanted us to be here and he knew One of us all to come together and kind of play together and build a bounce off and just perfect our craft together And I feel like we all are just great individuals and we come together Doing it what what the deliberations surprises even a conversation like it should always be live Tell you tell you play football so Obviously there's a proximity to the season which is a little reckless I understand that But in spring when you're competing for jobs. I mean if I'm a quarterback I'm asking to be live so I can show him how I'm different than you know Anyone that can't be live, you know, I mean, they're always trying to find an edge and if you're never fully alive I don't think you fully give guys opportunity to to be who they want to be or who they can be so That being said You know, I will cast my votes, but that will not be my final decision on that But I will cast my vote the guys and he noted well

It was good for all parties involved and more we can do that the better But I'm sure that is coming to a close here very quickly Right Jeremiah off the field we saw after practice on the side of the day that the mob that came to Did autographs and things When you're working with him on all these things you're talking about but also dealing with the life of being one of the biggest names in college football How do you help mentor him in that past? Yeah, I mean It's a blessing to be able to be in a position where you know can provide insight or I wouldn't say recommendations, but just you know give perspective What how he chooses to receive the perspective or not one and not me he always does but which is fine But to be in that position is really humbling that being said Um, he does a really good job on his own. He doesn't need checked on too much Uh, he's really done a great job again the way he was raised in his morals and

Humble would always sign and taking pictures. I'm always trying to be the bad guy for him because he's not gonna be and Just says again more about his character But he's not the only I mean he's not the only guy any guy would kind of do that We have a group full of awesome young guys But Jeremiah has done a great job with it hang on it and it's definitely growing at an exponential rate to say the least but Um, I think he's built for it and he's been handled at a high level But oh those around them were trying to help him out a little bit Yeah What made uh The first freshman to this is black Yeah, I mean That's a good question. I think that uh, you know Frankly, you know, I I don't I don't I'm not really fully evolved about that. So I can be but I wasn't you know, I think that People on the outside would be defense or even coach day or anybody brought it to my attention You know, we're kind of just going about practice and that's our expectation and make plays not make

mistakes Um, and he was starting to make a lot of a lot of plays consistently I think the consistent level that he's been as a person uh being on Being on time and and doing what his job description on each play and the balls coming your way and making some big plays and You know, it starts it starts being seen by your peers and your peers start asking for it They start barking getting a stripe off all those kind of things that's the ultimate sign of respect. I think uh with your peers um, you know go to your bat He's not going for his bat no one out people are bringing it to your position coach I think it uh speaks volumes of the uh the general respect that you're earning Through the process. So I think it's something like that happened and uh, you know, as well as there based on his peers and the other coaches Ryan Day was talking about how impressed he's been this spring with Austin cerebell All that he's been able to do and Tyler bones talking last week about the importance of the cross-training and all that that goes into that How much have you seen Austin benefit from this spring and everywhere that he's been and helping with peace

Do you think he's going to be regardless of where he fits on this offensive line? Yeah, I think Austin's been awesome. I mean he literally And you know what what we say say he played every split every position We just move around you know and uh handles it and you know He's one of those guys. I feel like you watch film over and over again day after day His name never really gets brought up, you know, in a good way like you know the old line your name gets brought up when Usually not going as well, you know, I mean, they're literally at the point of the tack on every single play So there's nowhere to hide and so But Austin when his name is brought up is like man, that was a good job. Right good job pass off that combo Whatever it's it's always positive and uh, they're really impressed with him you start in the winter Did a great job through the winter Again continue to build their respect for his peers and then he's gonna good job really good job Just being very consistent through spring So you've been working more with the whole offense Oh, it comes to quarterback play What is grown in your I don't know appreciation of that position and what those guys have to do and go through

What do you think more about those guys versus maybe what you thought before? It's just a wide receiver guy Yeah, I mean I mean, there's no just a wide receiver guy. If you are just wide receiver guy You won't be a very later on It's all about it's all about quarterback play, you know, so I think in that same world though to the point is that You know, in order to be a great receiver or a great receiver or You know receiver guy whatever you want to call it There's only one page is the quarterbacks page so everything is based off them there Whether it be their progression their timing the stresses they have is what we're trying to minimize so If you don't fully understand the quarterback play it's hard to you know maximize receiver play. I think you know That being said um, yeah, I mean, I'm still always learning, you know, I think that I can't say any is jumped out massively right now but I would say that You know, I guess I would say that the preparation level. I mean the what is required to execute and play at a high level

It's just not capable in the a lot of time right. I mean, there's only so much time where I'll be with players If you're not willing to spend you know your own time getting prepared for practice to be To maximize one's ability. There's a good chance. You're not going to maximize your ability So you know other positions. I mean, all lines same thing. I mean receiver play sometimes can Can you know get away from it? We do a great job studying and being in the room extra for sure But the requirement of a quarterback to know the fixed protections The BR run game coordinator based on the calls, you know to get us in different checks. I mean, there's so much thing you know and frankly The you know the old lines only as good as the quarterback the receiver's only as good as the quarterback They're often silly as good as the quarterback and it's our responsibility to put guys in position To maximize what they're capable of maximizing But their inability to notice that they can just spend extra time outside the a lot of time I think it's critical and the amount that it takes I guess else maybe a little naive to but uh, the guys are doing a great job doing it

And time just a couple more coaches got a meeting Rob all our Columbus dispassion. Brian you have reached the mount top. You got a banner out there national champs I think you keep these guys grounded Being in the moment looking ahead not back Are you tougher on them because no, I think I mean I I think we have a lot of guys You know what? I I think it's understanding that we were trying to build the map to get to where you wanted to get to But now that we have the map Doesn't mean we've traveled the path so Like we know what it looks like the guys that are here know what it's supposed to look like the guys before us St. Umbla believeable example how to get to where you want to get to So the focus is on trying to you know replicate what they just did and how they operated Can't say we've done that right now. So it's very easy to stay motivating because they already know it's not good enough frankly and so The last thing they want to do is put in a ton of effort and then not reach their goals. So

Motivation I don't think is needed. I think there is a catching up of those and maybe aren't quite sure what it takes you know and but overall Motivation is not what we've needed clarity of message is definitely what we've been focused on and I think the message is being received so not concerned about you know motivation and and the uh Looking back if you will. I think everyone's pretty pretty focused on being forward and knowing we haven't accomplished anything You said is the leader of your water secret room right now I would say Cornell Tate Brennan inness probably done the most Most outspoken you know in the room Yeah, I would say they're doing a good job those are probably the two guys that would jump out my room. Yep Brennan he's been in trouble. Obviously Cornell taking on that role. Yep more and being more vocal. He's a good football player. Obviously But that process for him and becoming a more vocal leader took for you to say that on

What's the question? Cornell like what do you see like the growth of it? Uh, yeah, I mean he's I think he's pulled guys aside, you know, it had one-on-one conversations with him He's locked in You know, just I think he saw the impact that I met him made and the role he played And to think that you're gonna lose that and then be a better group probably doesn't mathematically make sense to him So someone's got to step up in that role and one and on respects him too He knows he's capable of it And it's just the desire and the appreciation. I think to be at the order at table now I'm the older head and and appreciate the way I met could probably win about his his business and so He probably valued that appreciated that And he's just being assured we still have that Final question, Bill Rebellion, it's on this list, that Could you assess the running back room? I think it's pretty much assumed both as running backs to CJ and A James think that's hand in systems probably the way you got to go again How do you think it's working and you see third and maybe fourth guys

Up in them there. I think that you know in college football We're in a football any football really you got to have depth in running back room. I think that It's very apparent in the NFL. It's usually a two back system You know very very rarely is it one guy But in college. I think we saw the benefit of that last year The ability to compliment each other is really important And the ability for us to identify what they do great and put them in good positions to be what they are And what's our best that I should say is really important as a coaching staff It's been very impressed with even the younger guys Sam and And in a bow and the way they've come along Consistencies so what you're chasing right you're always able to that's why you're here But how often you do it ultimately dictates how much you play so But overall I think locksmen on them they'd understand the standard and in past pro and Not being a guy we got to sell about because you can't pass protect so We were blessed What especially with tray last year and in quenchaum so But no these guys are done a good job. They're competing. They've been very coachable

No, it's never it's it's shown a plot on film But yeah, I mean it's always hard on backs. I mean every opportunity you get to go live and and break tackles really He's the most feedback on what these guys are capable of you just playing tag out there You never get any art at least you shouldn't But the running backs You know on contact days have done a good job James has done a really good job growing really excited about him Everyone's really excited about him and CJ So You know, I think ultimately now group the Hug will I'll go with the group be it's probably based on you know The top the bottom rising right and you're gonna have some guys at the top, but you know, where's the floor and so I think Bow and Sam has done a really good job and many some more guys to get healthy and more more guys on campus, but very encouraged And you saw him improve and then McLean I think is a great plus. I mean he is a guy that has Football intelligence he's picked it up, you know, he's kind of

Of those incoming freshmen who still should be in high school He's a guy I think you're gonna point to and you can see right now. He's gonna be a player Over to the right Austin Ward the podcast A healthy Mitchell Melton how does he fit in for your defense? What does he bring to it? Yeah, he's You know Mitch is that combination player, you know and In our four down, you know, he's a guy that can do a lot of things Dropfold in there and make plays you see some of that all the time really athletic You know We're kind of loaded at that end position. So He's gonna play there, but you know like I said last year and we We haven't needed it, but he's a guy you would point to along with C. J. Hicks You know for the for the long season People get injured you get a little light inside. It's always hard on the defensive tackles But if you're gonna play with three ends

You know that matches a guy who definitely can do all that he has that Over to the left Joey Kaufman Columbus dispatch Jim you've talked about this before, but I think in pastures Where you're going up against a really talented receiver group offense to encourage your players to it's not okay If they give up to the play and to go nearly almost the first half today where you The offense didn't get in the end zone till the late in the second half just and you guys have guys down the second area Just what what did you think of that sort of trending how it's evolved in the way you guys almost shut them out of the first Yeah, I think it's become You know an expectation now You know our DB's you know our BIA best in America we Let the country and past defense right I think It was 96 when I What I got here and it was number one last year. So They've they've taken that spirit. So it's a competitive spirit. It's an expectation now It doesn't matter who we're going against. It's it's they view it as a standard

So that was good to see in the first first half Over to the right Spencer Holbrook, Vladimir and Roe Jim we've talked about safety changing the way that you play defense and the Leo and the linebackers But how much does having the depth that you guys have a defensive tackle change the way that you can do things defensively? Yeah, I mean You're going to play to your strengths You know and that's that's my job is to What do we have and what do we do best and When you have defensive tackles But I've said it before and it helped our defense so much last year when you have defensive tackles that actually make tackles Which is what we have right now? It changes the way you call a game You know, it certainly helps you be In better shape on explosive plays on the back end you don't have to do a whole lot to help those guys out because they're making tackles So you got to go you got to go with that, you know You got to let those guys play and and and they're good so

You can't get too far away from the scheme of having those defensive tackles make place because they're doing it and it works Over to the left Tony Gurdman Buckeye Huddl Jim Ryan talked about the quarterback run being more of Thing with the offense here during the season. How much of when you're facing a team like that? How much does that impact your day-to-day throughout the week? Prep preparing for that. Yeah, it's a time, you know it I think it changes everything you do on defense You see it everywhere from the NFL on down if you have a quarterback who can make plays with his feet Your scheme better be designed That you know to to take that away into account for it. So it changes the way you look at everything when you're game planning Thank you, Donovan over here to the right Tim May to the Tim May podcast Jim you might be right when I asked Ryan about just for example Calvin Simpson Hunt But the corner seemed to be playing almost with the chip owner shelter to a certain Xtanami Davis and Nick Benosin took the day personally it looked like you know to make is a some of the hype going into the game

But what what do you see from that group in particular that? Buies you going into this off season Yeah, when you can when you have corners that you can count on again, it's just like having defensive tackles In the run game when you have corners you can count on that are going to compete all the time no matter what the situation Is and we've developed that again, it changes the way you call the entire game. I mean you you're able to leave those guys on an island You're able to switch out converges And they know what they're doing and they take great pride in it. So Having those guys out there in the development. It's a big deal. It really is Yeah, I mean he's He did come in late and you know He's one of those guys that just competes every day doesn't say much You know he's trying to live up to the standard or the other guys

And you see him coming along, you know, you see him step by step coming along and and you know put him in a You know competitive atmosphere. See him step up. That's a great sign and final question for coach Knowles Dan hope 11 warriors You mentioned CJ Hicks a few minutes ago. Have you seen him take the strides? You need to see the spring to trust him as a guy who could be a potential starter on his defense Yes, I mean uh, I think CJ has shown that uh He has talent and I think it's my job to put him in the best situations for him because he can be a force You know he's much better when he's blood-sing or he's directed because he's able to use his act Athletic ability But he has certainly shown that he's going to be able to help this defense coach. Thank you very much for your time All right, and we will bring offensive coordinator and quarterback's coach chip Kelly to the

podium now will open up the questions over to the left bill Rebenowitz Columbus dispatch at chip What are your just general impressions of the offense coming out of spring especially a quarterback You know We'll look at all 15 so I think you know This day is is a big part of it, you know because it was the first time they were at the play some of those guys I ever got to play in from the crowd And that was an amazing crowd you know you get 80,000 for spring game Now you could see some of the young guys kind of looking around like wow. This is different in the indoor um, but that's what they have to get ready to play it so um We got better from practice one practice 15, you know, it's still an evaluation through the whole process, but It's not something in the players bill to the will we're not making a decision walking off the field today saying Hey, this is the direction that we're going in will we'll be very authentic and and look through everything and make sure that we get a really good Feel for what it all looks like and then who will best move this offense. That's that's what our decisions I do I think we got a lot of guys there That parts tough. I think because you got it you there's guys that deserve reps

You know, and they're all competing for it So you know, sometimes you'd like to be sometimes when you had a guy who was an initial starter Well, he's gonna get the bulk of the reps to get him better, but um They capitalize on and we really rolled him, you know, if you were at some of our screen praxis You're watching all those guys rotate in rotate out Um, and as we talk about all the time, you know, the old adges is don't count your reps make your reps count You know, and we'll put it all together and really come up with you know Which guy do we really feel is gonna make gonna help us move this offensively Over to the far right bill landis the podcast kings of the north Hey chip you some of me first talked to you that the the basis of a lot of your success running the football Just kind of figuring out what your guys do best and then leading into that over 15 practices now How good of a field do you think you have for that and then what are the next few months look like as you try to Piece that all together really good question It's It's interesting because the one thing that I think Sometimes makes tough and an evaluation is what a good front we want to get Um, you know, so for 15 practices Those guys on the other side of the ball were pain, you know

Jack and JT and tylie can those guys, but I know come fall There's not gonna be anybody more happy that we have those guys in the defense side of all because of what they can do So um, I still think we'll have to really evaluate that what we're gonna What we're not what we got to get better on what we got to work on But I think the work we got against such a quality defense was Was really key for us over to the far left Nathan baird cleveland calm So you were go at this time it came out of the spring with still a lot of question marks about the offensive line And even I guess that last season came out with question marks What have you seen that progress in the time that you've been here and what's your confidence level that that offensive line is gonna allow this offense to do Everything it wants to do this fall. Yeah, I mean, I've been here Short amount of time so I didn't know I really don't have anything to compare to so I kind of Tabula rassa come in with the blank slate and just observing I think we're really athletic I think donny and In Seth and those guys inside are really smart and really intelligent They allow you to to be able to make adjustments in game

Just tucking football with some of those guys. It's like well These guys are wired the right way and a lot of those guys have played a lot of football So um, they can bank on their experience there You know, I think we we've got about four guys that have played significant amount of snaps And we got to make sure we can find out who the fifth guy is But that's similar to where the quarterback spot is. I think and I also think in the offensive line You're not gonna play a 16-17 game season and just playing the five guys. You know, you really have to develop your depth there There's gonna be a number two center that's gonna play a lot of football It's gonna be a number two guard whether it's on either side of the ball There's gonna be a third tackle. I think you you're gonna get tested Especially with this new in this new playoff format. You really have to think that way So you know, you're not looking for five starters. You're really looking for ten starters because you're gonna have to You're gonna have to probably play ten guys to get when you get through a 16-17 game season Over to the right Austin Ward the podcast chip. I think it was the first play of the game the T formation and then the reverse I don't know spin move with Will Howard Understand what's the inspiration for that package and that sort of rink of what the quarterback mr. Hayes

Do you has There's a looming figure around this whole program. You know, we get to go to work every day and the Woody Hay's athletic center So It was good enough for Woody. We're gonna stay with we're gonna do it We ran some last year. I think we took 21 snaps at UCLA and T Been a short yarded formation for us and we've done some different things with it, but um I also I think our players had a lot of fun You know practicing that and doing some different things so um It's a small part of our offense, you know, we will not be in the T 21 times in one game, but you know, we may get it in some short yarded situations And I think it's come back. There's a lot of schools right now that Um are starting to do that. You know, it's really just you're trying to you know You got a half a yard to get you're trying to get your big guys in the game and I think we use three tight ends and in two running backs in our formation today with Packard being the the fullback in that situation. So um, there's a lot of different things you can do in show yardage, but um A little bit of a tribute to coach coach Hayes and and then and what he means to this program Joey Kaufman Columbus dispatch over to the left chip. Did you look back now? You've been here two months 15 spring practices

There's something you feel best about what you've been able to accomplish with this offense Well, I haven't accomplished anything because I didn't take a snap, but um I think the most impressive thing since I've been here is how close close this football team is You know some programs talk about a brother there. This is really a brotherhood Our practices as we talked about how good our defense is it's they're highly competitive, but they're not combative and and those guys Really work very very well together both the old line and the D line the secondary and the receivers Um, the competition is the but it's gotta be the best there is in the country You know and that makes you better, but I think sometimes competition You know guys can lash out and it gets really combative and then all of a sudden the fight breaks out and the fight breaks out And we're trying to accomplish and get footballed them, but I think the way these guys cooperating work together as a group Uh, as a special bond, and I think you're you're gonna need the the closest team and the most connected teams on the ones that win Uh over to the right here Andy Baxter and Letterman Roach chip obviously there's been a lot of talk about Jeremiah But a mecca is the big return in this group. He kind of reminded everyone what he can do today

What's it been like working with him and what kind of weapon can he be for you guys? Good point and a mecca has reminded me and the other 14 practice sessions of what he can do Special player, you know and and J. J. is a really talented player also, but you know I think I think all of the the whole group and Cornell tape did some really good things watching him this spring and for all of them You know, I mentioned it with the offensive line. I I came in with a blank slate. You know, I had no opinions formed Not that really just wide-eyed and just observant, but you know that I think that wide-receiving Is really special and I think there's a bunch of guys in there and again And you have to play multiple multiple games after the regular season is over You're gonna make sure you're gonna need depth like that and in the fact that it's you feel a little bit comfortable right now that we got some guys there that can make some plays in the perimeter And that really dictates how people are gonna defend you, you know, so You got a couple really good running back, you know, so are they gonna load the box? Are you really gonna load the box and leave those guys in one one coverage? Well then it's the quarterbacks responsibility to decipher that and get the ball of those guys

So we're do they at least a double covers a list of double coverage and now it's a little bit lighter box and you can run the ball so Having too many weapons is a is a good problem to have Second roll left pat Murphy 24-7 sports chip we've talked a lot about kind of the quarterbacks maybe vying for the starting spot But some of the younger guys what have you seen from them? We got an opportunity to see more of them today Then we probably have what's your assessment of them as they kind of get in this I always and so impressed with Young guys that enroll early in watching how they get acclimated and what they do, you know, when you look at julie and in air and In JJ, you know, they should be in the hot lunchline other high school and they're out here playing in front of 80,000 people and They've really progressed when you watch them in meetings and listen to them and they interpret, you know, so Basically the whole concept here is we throw them in the deep end and see if they can swim You know, this we didn't baby anything. We don't put the install in with hey you guys are in stock

We're an install this with the older players and then you guys, you know, go set at the kitty table And we're just gonna do the really simple things with you know, they get it all in The more they can digest the more when you're in a room when you're checking for understanding and asking questions And they can spit back to you the more confidence you have when they get in there with the plays that you can call form so Those guys have been impressive. They're still learning, you know, they were the The guys today that we're kind of looking around and saying, while there's like 80,000 people here Along with the offensive coordinator in the quarterback coach because I was kind of looking around because I had actually never been in the stadium until yesterday when we had Um our 14th practice in there, so I played Ohio State once when I was at Oregon, but that was in the Rose Bulls I'd never been actually in the stadium until yesterday, so I caught myself when I went into the stadium today looking around saying 80,000 for spring game. That's impressive Got time for just a few more folks over here to the right Dylan Davis Delaware Gazette Given what you just said about throwing them into the deep end what stood out the most to you about Julian's progression through 15 practices and where he is as you guys head out of spring

Julian is a very fast processor You know, he really thinks very very quickly on his feet like he He makes really quick decisions. He doesn't stick on and read he can progress and any sees things really well for For a young player, you know, and not having been exposed to a lot of college defenses and especially What Jim does, you know Jim can make Jim can make a young freshman quarterback Cry with some of the stuff he does, but you know, I never saw that with jules and I That's been impressive his his ability to retain and You know him and JJ the compliment I would say them is if you got here and you didn't know what class You wouldn't say that those guys are freshmen in terms of how they've picked things up and and you know sometimes freshmen act like freshmen But the guys who are special they don't act like freshmen, you know, they act like their football players And those are two guys that are ever examples of that Far left Cameron T. Robinson the athletic chip you on the topic of freshmen

James people's and Sam got around the second half You talk about how deep you need to be in this era of college football, but As you search for our B3 what did you see from them today and what is what is their growth been like in this spring? Yeah, James really flashed early for for me not knowing again kind of let's just take Don't worry about what the background is where they're from who they are The this guy of this stars this guy of that stars. It's they're all bakais. And this is how they do and I think James is like really good field and vision He can hit things. I thought sand is some really good things today T.C. is another guy who really came along during the spring and in work constantly talking in Our staff meetings about depth. We're very cognizant of the fact that the playoff situation has changed So you have to develop that depth, you know Used to be maybe have a parent affair was what everybody says, but I think you may have to have more than that You know you're talking about 16-17 games You're you're really gonna be tested that way so I was really happy with with how those young guys have come along

You're in the 15 training sessions that we've had oh here to the right Tim made the Tim may podcast Thank you, Jerry. You have your own podcast. Yeah, yeah, like these guys all have like a name next to their You must have some juice if you got you got your name in your podcast definitely I like it. It's not just the lunch last hot lunch last night. It's a hot lunch line Just too quick. He's number one. Do you feel compelled Delittie's quarterbacks know where they stand here? You know that's coming up Tuesday, you know to mean there Yeah, you know Where does that go? I mean in your mind Yeah, we're all sit down as a staff and visit meet on it and then nine Maybe he does an unbelievable job of I think all our players understand where they fit and what what the picture is and we'll give him our assessment This isn't you know, we're not gonna come back and but we do it after every day They know where they stood after practice one after two after three after four We grade everything they're getting constant feedback in terms of where we are and then after 15 which we had today But but we we can't do it unless you watch the film and can can really look at the

The things because you may see something but you're on the sideline You know, why did he make that decision? Well, I couldn't really see the field safety from where he was Okay, now I understand why you made that decision. So um, you know, what what what what the meetings with all our players and that's that's always been the method So this week during um, you know between Uh One day through Friday night. We're all scheduled. No one's going on the road recruiting until after that But we're all a player meeting said every position You know offensive line defensive line linebacker safety is everybody everybody's gonna sit down with their position coaches and Know where they fit and we see them But do you feel a pressure with with the transfer portal looming? I mean, you know, you've been a head coach for a long time I mean, is that on your mind at TSD? Yeah, I think all the world you got aware of it I'm 100% and I don't think it's pressure Um, but I think you just open lines of communication and everybody knows You know, which What your evaluation was through the training sessions that we have guys we got to have we got real quick Last two questions Dan Hope and then Rob all are Feel like you need to have a starting quarterback named by and whatever biggest things you're gonna be looking for between now and then and determining who that guy's gonna be

Well between now and and whatever then is we're not allowed as coaches to go back out In practice with them, you know, in college football you get 15 training sessions in the In the offseason and then they'll go back to work and with Mick in the in the weight room and getting bigger getting faster getting stronger They'll have organized activities themselves Um, and they they do a really good job of that But once there's a football out like we're not allowed to be there to evaluate and even assess So they're really from a football standpoint on their own until August so You always want to do it earlier But I also believe every time I've I've been involved in this is that it kind of happens organically and authentically You know because the players know If you say we decided we're gonna be with Joe and they all think it's Tim You know they know they're in the locker room with them every day players Players understand, you know who they'd feel is the guy and and most of the time it it The decision is very obvious, you know, when you just say this is where we are with it, you know

Um, but There's that timetable thing. I don't I don't I can't give you an exact timetable in that so Rob Chip um, you talk about Julian, but typically in your experience you've done again like Tim said a long time How long does it take for the game to slow down for for a young QB? I think it depends on the individual, you know, I've had some kids Um, where early, you know, you're like wow Marcus Murray, Oda was like that Remember vividly second practice and he got to the fifth reading the progression and threw it out here in his big game And I asked him why I do it all I asked why cuz I just want to understand it and I said why did you do that? And he goes I don't know what we call that defense, but there was like a lot of guys over there And they didn't seem like there was anybody over there But for him to process at that time he was right And he came back the other day whether that was cover six the other day coach like I learned what you guys called the coverage is But um, it all happens differently. I've got guys that for two years seem like

They're just you know They're really struggling and then the light bulb goes off and you know, whoa like they got it so Everybody has different learning styles You know our job and the evaluation process is to identify those learning styles So you know, they cognitive learn early an auditory learner, you know, do they do they learn by field is it is it more? You know a Field guy, you know a more film guy, you know, it's all different And I think we have to keep poking and prodding in in in in for us as coaches. That's the challenge too is what is their best learning style and how can we convey it? Because education basically is just a transportation knowledge But it really doesn't matter what I know or what Ryan knows it matters what they know so That's that's always kind of what we're working on and studying and thinking about and kind of where we are and How much can they handle and then how much is too much you know Because this may be a great play. I agree 100 percent But if he don't feel it's a good play Then then why is it in you know, I mean and that's that's this whole feeling up process that we're all they're learning awesome. We're learning them

This is have identities sort of coaches really Running quarterbacks. That's something you've always sort of lean toward or is it year by year case by case What advantages do you like about because all your guys can run a little bit? Yeah, I think a running quarterback causes problems for defense So when when plays break down the unscheduled plays you know if you just go back to the recent Super Bowl On that last drive the two big plays were my home's run The petrol my home is not a runner And he's not calling design quarterback runs for Pat But when the defense matches up and plays two men and turns their back to the quarterback Well, maybe the best decision is to take off you know the second one he took out Like he may score You know a lot of guys go and they want a hook side You know and and there's times where you have to understand if you do have a running quarterback If we talk about the best of the best ability is availability You know you're not lowering your shoulder and taking people on but we are always looking for quarterbacks that have the ability to run We're not looking for running backs that can throw you know, so you're not gonna see us

20 times a game we're running the quarterback There are people that run offensive styles and are really successful with it But with this group we have right now that's not now they can hurt you with the feet We'll did it when he was at case date, you know Obviously Devon took off a couple times today air took off a couple times today Lincoln's a really really good athlete Julian can run but you know, we're not calling design quarterback runs You know you're not gonna see You know I tremendous respect for coach Hayes and the legacy that he left here This straight T is about as far as we go. We are not going single wing So we are not gonna snap it and run quarterback ISO and quarterback power. So But it is a it's another weapon, you know, and if it also keeps defenses honest You know if your defensive and is gonna continue to bend from the quarterback pulls it he's on the edge and he's gaining first downs Well then the defensive and has to stay outside and contain the quarterback Well then we can run the ball up and hand the ball off sometimes in our running game our quarterback really is a blocker He's responsible for a defender if the defender is cheating and fitting it on the run Then his responsibility is to make make the defense be honest and and that's really air did that a couple times today

No, we had a block the safety was sticking his face in there So we took off around the edge what happens in next play the defense is wider Then what do we get to do? We got a chance to hand the ball off to the running man Great coach. Thank you so much for your time and thank you for being a buck. I uh thanks It was definitely addressed here You know this pretty easy. I think Austin, Sarah, they'll stepped up in a big way, you know with the Donnie being out Um and and then you know, you know, Carson can can play worth guard and center, which is good Um, and you know, we've actually you know Sen has done a nice job as well Um, but it was good to see Austin, you know, he moved from guard to tackle a couple times and even with the ones he was in their battling his tail off So um, I think we have built some depth there, but again, you know, we got to go play some games and see what that Rob all right You know again, whether it's whatever happened last year's last year, but I know that the message to our To our offensive line is we want to play one of the hardest playing in the offensive line in the country Now we've got to play with technique

But at the end of the play like knock the line of scrimmage back and play with your hair on fire as hard as you possibly can There's a lot to go with the playing in the offensive lines all the communication is a lot of things that have to get into place I think Seth has done a nice job of communicating and it's getting the offense better now and takes control up front and brings everybody together Well, which is great, but but to me like that's it now we could list a bunch of other things But to me we've got to move the line of scrimmage We've got to be just playing with our hair on fire and knocking people back and playing physical Um, and that's the start to game. That's the end of the game No, no, I don't see it that way at all. I think um You know, we'll see what we got this year, but I feel like you know, we've got some really good young players in the system I think that um, you know, we should have the best offensive line in the country. That's that's the standard here Has been for a long time and um, you know, and so you know, we'll keep pushing towards that this year and

You know, I think you know, everybody in that room is the same thing Uh, Tony Gerbin Yep, so uh, uh, sunny has really stepped up and played well. He's made this transition from safety to linebacker Very well I think he did a nice job in the spring, but you could definitely see as he went into the the summer It's just you know, bigger, stronger Um, being more comfortable closer to line of scrimmage When you're closer to line of scrimmage Uh, he's doing a better job getting his you know hands on on You know, on offense alignment and getting off of blocks You know, using a better job doing a better job with his hands I think he understands the communication The linebackers always have to be involved at the front They can be involved and fitted to the back end. He's doing that Um, you know, I think he's you know looking forward to play I don't know playing in a game and you know, getting an idea of what it all looks like But I can tell you in practice. He's playing fast. He's playing violent and I think he's you know

He does a nice job of taking the meeting to the field Being very intentional about his work, but playing really hard Yeah, I haven't talked to Jim because you know, we'll make that final decision here over the weekend But uh, he's certainly leader in the club bus Can you tell Ryan? I mean Seth McLaughlin can tell he's been there've done that is he Is he projected that uh to the offensive line? You're still and I'm safe for a leadership stand going a grown man Yes, how does it just come up? How does it show up? Uh, a bunch of ways it just poise it's Not getting rattled when you know coach parks at you. It's you know, okay. I got this. Let me get it on the control It's Seem something in practice and being able to adjust on the move. It's Being prepared when you walk on the field It's Recognizing how hard you have to play at the position. It's You know kind of all of those things into one, but He's got great communication up front. He talks to the guys He's moving quickly in there and when you have experience like he has, you know, the game seems to slow down at times yet

You know, he seems to be playing it. I've had a fast lover I think it's over Hey, there was a point where uh, he got a black stripe off and I feel like he took a step In the right direction when you come in in the summer it is very difficult to get on the field especially early in the season Whether he does or not. I will see But if he continues to practice the way that he's been practicing Then he'll give himself a chance to be in the rotation maybe with you the season Um or later in the season which is similar to some of the water series in fact before you know, you've seen Some of those guys get some reps early in the season but then make an impact later in the season I think that's probably more uh, his path right now You know, shows up and starts doing great and you know, well You know, we'll give him the reps he deserves Um, we're like Jeremiah's in a different situation because he came in here

He was a little bit ahead Anybody comes in and generates a media. I don't look at them as a freshman anymore They've been here. They're in the program and we expect them to contribute Still in there right there talking and communicating but In the scrimmages we've had it's you know, it's been offense for his defense So I've mostly been in the offensive side still kind of going through all those types of things And there's a lot to work through this year just with you know the play clock and then uh To want to mean that is you know the close to my communication inside of 15 goes off There's a lot of things that go go on there We don't really get notification on that so I'm trying to you know just help trip with that and some So communication that work personnel

But I'm going to very much involve with special teams. I think with a two minute warning There's some strategic things that are going to go on game to half in the game that you know, you have to really be involved with But to your point just overall just looking guys in the eye and making sure that you know I think I'm right looking there. I'd you know that you know, they they understand um You know with the situation what's going on in the game, you know I think that happens sometimes in young players, you know, they're just like playing the next play You know, and that's not just how that's not how it works We'll get to win the situations and so all those things will come into play and making and game adjustments You know be involved with on all three phases, you know watching you know The game of the tab with the try to identify what happened in the last series I think all those things will be happening Right now uh Nick is going to be the starter um and You know that that competition will go into next week, but Right now as we head into the weekend, he is the starter Um and the plan is ready to go first part of up in the game on Saturday against accurate

He's got a strong leg. He's he's made it um a good transition into You know the country, but also just playing you know football um and not Estrilling with football, which is very very different um The um you know snap to kick is really improved, you know, that was one thing. He has a he's a taller guy So the ball has to get out of this you know get out this trick faster. I think he's done that um his time time There's been good uh and he's been more consistent um you'll see you know he'll he'll kick a few I'll just go right out of the stadium and then you just got a strong strong leg So we're looking for that consistency. He's he's shown that here most recently So uh he's got the upper hand right now Because will maybe took a little bit longer to make a decision in December than some of the other Top of the line quarterback who has been dead or because maybe there was a thought he wasn't going to be the starter It can't be stayed too short But it seems like people have viewed him kind of as a game manager type of quarterback

After eight months with him Where do you see his ceiling or what what what is will special traits you and where do you see him taking something? I see um You know a bunch of traits there I think the first trait of size is big he can stand in the pocket and He's strong Um, so I mean that that's the first thing you notice about him Again, whether it's standing in the pocket with poise. I think that's another trait that he has that's excellent He he feels a rush Um, but he stands right in there. I think uh the next trait is just you know, he's just top-end speed We can run 22 miles an hour at that size which Uh, there's not a lot of guys who can do that So I think that's the extraordinary trait and now I would say his overall leadership Command and the huddle is is another You know something that he's he's really you know grown into in the last few months and he's been here Uh, and then his accuracy. He's been very accurate since he's been here Um, and when he knows what's going on and he can't to spare what's happening I mean it looks right his feel and and he can hurt you you know a bunch of different ways

So um, yeah The ceiling that that's that's going to be kind of you know up to how he plays this season but You know, I see a player who has a lot of great skills that you know translates well to the next level So you know, we'll see but I know his first focus is on winning games around here Hopefully I'm taking a small one And Please Meaning I'm nursing naturally. So that's first complete. I was good. I was rolling Also, it's a weird name Yeah You Yeah, it's like I prepared well Um, and camp and practice all week and I was I was ready Um, yeah I have two multi-year starters It did a lot. I mean I couldn't ask them. Hey, what we got here, but

I was prepared well I was telling Jimmy and said it's like a Why are blocks? I'll be emotional. I just as a guy from Ohio. What does it mean to start a meeting? Um, it was always my dream to come here and play and start and Having that like me I just keep going keep building those days and those games and keep building What a much younger Austin No, not I don't think Even I told my like way I asked my younger self Even committed. I wouldn't believe that now having a couple of starts Awesome has this happened Faster than You No, I knew that year two I was gonna see you some playing time Now starting week one year two. I didn't see that but like I was ready Didn't spring ball like a new I was one I was gonna play some

But It's not only in the opportunities of play but Like you play well enough now Coaching staff trust You I guess it shows like my preparation my hard work and just everything I put into this and I just finally showing up on a field There are moments Yeah, uh, the definitely was in training camp I mean blocking highly can tie every day Like he feels he feels a lot of confidence and doing it well and not like getting Ball or anything Hero in Jason Moore and Taiwan all those guys me pretty much anyone on the deep and And came back as well. So yeah A lot of

He helped me a quite a lot and I'm proud that he's our starting center not someone else's but um I mean, he's like the captain of the line. He's another voice on the line With guys like Josh Fryer and Josh Sim and Donnie and Tiger that means another voice and another captain Look ways of having the and everything's much experience help Yeah, a lot he can tell you like before to play what's going on and like how to block someone like we need to do and like That's a lot It makes us more calm like especially me and pay as a first star. So like we were up here What what said like he brought us down mean we were like fine like our emotions weren't high we were so in Is that like something he tells you? Is that something you pick up on by how he's acting? How do you kind of mean sense what he's trying to say about how he's acting and what

Mean him when we're on the side of him both Josh Donnie like he was telling us like a cool like we got it But it's pretty much like oh everyone old cool group I said how much do the as a first time starter? How much of the end that mean a lot And that was my first time ever using high pads. We didn't use the iPads in high school But I mean you can say like try to remember the defense. You can just come on a silent bring up. We'll play Probably the first or second after the I thought we say oh Awesome. Thank you very much You can That's um I want to say Maybe I don't know but I mean when I when I first heard you got the job I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo I can run with the tempo You know I mean I'm I've been playing basketball all life in seven football and I feel like Just the fast pace often so we're running really fits the guys we have right now. I'm really excited for that

I know you can throw a football exercise but can you kick a football 75 years like wake up? I saw a question Lincoln what was your question? How is your Your roommate? He's a blessing man. I can't your point. He's a great guy. What's his name's linking Teen hoes Oh I think we're both really clean. That's why we kind of picked each other's really it's because we're very clean and We don't like our words really messy Well, it's true Oh so far I've been all garden Um, I really don't know like I said I'm taking it practice. I practice I've been in back attack like that and on but No, I'm just really focused in on this past practice is connection Yeah, oh that mean a lot You know, you put a lot of work in to play here. It's been a dream just for being in Ohio kidism from Ohio kids perspective

It's I mean, that's the biggest wish possible. I would say that's that's gonna be pretty cool It didn't like this can be a weird answer, but it feel like I was planning to be in it if that makes sense I was pretty locked in I felt like just no anxiousness no stress no nothing or I just went in that first game Shoot out here now it's time to roll you know, they didn't really hit me. I was like it didn't even hit me after I'm like what'd you feel there if like getting out there in the end? I just like honestly, I don't know I felt less than there's that in high school and I'd make some no sense Um a lot I mean I'm learning from Josh Ann Austin I think prior to one of my biggest role models here is my bigger big brother when I first came up Tell him I'm a PD in? I don't know I think I'm a PD okay Yeah, no yeah, yeah, so yeah PD in Austin those are my guys man I mean even Miles too. I mean all three of them. That's those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well on

And I'm excited to see where they where they can get to and I'm excited to play the field with them Oh, yeah, you know, it's been really helpful You know, just keep in my mind just settled and straightforward on the next play This It's a great question um like I said I mean I just need to take consistent in my work. I think that's the biggest thing for me is just ain't consistent worry about the next Absolutely, I mean when you see defensive And you see defensive start arguing with each other and things like that. I mean Makes a lot easier. You know I mean

Tech reserve since this offensive line wise is young prepared this week Season Donovan Jackson's a very good When he's on the field he mentioned present stuff The Yeah, I mean we put in the work during practice we practice really hard coach day really challenges Positions coaches really When you work hard for something and you're able to see like

What comes out of it like that's there's no better feeling No, I mean I was really funny to see Thank you Take a what is You know he's really You see real panic and having a guy like that mess you know, you're having really Played as many meaning for snaps You know There's no one outside rather at some my left and some right, you know for and set those guys They do so much The people talk about his intelligence really kind of showing up in the film room and on the field Where have you noticed that intelligence and how is that helped you?

Oh, yeah, like I said and crunch time, you know when When things aren't exactly looking like how we practice it, you know Having a guy like that What's my favorite cake You Uh-huh I almost came back to coconut hus向 Looking emotional they got it See Yeah, those guys there, they're real players.

They're real players, you can tell they're coached well. You can tell they go hard. You know, they're real players over there. We've been practicing to the best of our abilities. You know, and I'm prepared for that. You see, they made your G&G technology last year. Another day, they're taking the... Yeah, they play good ball over there. You know, they're defense plays hard. They challenge teams, you know, sometimes they might be overlooked and they still challenge teams. You know, so they come out there with the mentality like, no matter where they're in front of us, they're gonna blow out. I don't know who they are. I don't know how to talk to them. What has been the biggest challenge? I mean, the actions right there right in front of you right now, which is kind of a good thing and kind of a bad thing. You know, you should shift off the rest, you know, hidden back in it. Inside... You talking to your coach?

Yeah, I mean, I hear from Chris every once in a while trying not to bother him too much, but... It's always good to hear from guy like that, guys like D'Warn, even Matt Jones would turn him back. All right, Tiger, thank you. Appreciate it. Thank you, Tiger. I've been in for this year to just be able to contend for that job. No skill, no need. I think there's a lot of things I might, my weight, my... Just my height, this, more regard height. When I'm fast on my feet and I'm just thinking that you can sometimes like basketball, or want to be on that just like defense, but you know, you gotta stay in the stage playing some blocks. Exactly. Yeah, that's a great question. I mean, I feel like these two can answer that for the year right now. I think KK here, okay, answer that. Well, I don't know what to say about that.

What do you guys think? I don't know. I'm going to make a day, you know. This man is strong. I'm talking about that. You have the basketball here. You sound like you could just do a thing that you can't just do a thing that you can't just do a thing that you can't do. You just have to go over that. And he got the grip right in the back. He doesn't give up on the playing. Like you said, he's going to go in and watch the film. He's going to hit the game and go better. And he's going to see it 100 feet on that. Come back this one. So now, you have to stop. You can sit and move and let it go. Here, can you just follow us around all the time? He's something like a coach, man. He's something like a coach. He's a tackle versus Darwin because obviously his offensive predelitionals were like, yeah, the offensive line play. That's what you do. Are you settling into that? I want to say maybe I don't know, but I mean, when I'm for sure you got the job, I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's

the tempo. I can run with the tempo, you know what I mean? I'm playing basketball all life instead of football and I feel like just the fast pace offense that we're running really fits the guys we have right now. I'm really excited for that. I know you can throw a football 65 guys, but can you kick a football 75 yards and Lincoln? No. Probably question. Lincoln, what's your question? How is your, your roommate at the community? He's a blessing, man. I can't complain. He's a great guy. What's the name? His name's Lincoln. Keen Holtz. Oh, he's a cleaner. I think we're both really clean. That's why we kind of pick each other's roommates because we're very clean and we don't like our burdens really messy. That's true, though. That's true. It's a true, but we're pretty clean, so. This could be a weird answer, but it could feel like I was playing a game that made sense. I was pretty locked in. I felt like just no anxiousness, no stress, no nothing. I just went in that first game. I'm here now. It's time to roll. You know, it didn't really hit me. I was like, it didn't even hit me after. I was like, what would you feel there? And if I get out there at the end of it, I'm just like, honestly, I don't know. I felt less nervous than I did in high school and it makes no sense.
