Yeah, you know, I was a tough process with the job process and everything like that. And I'm sure without that medical flag, I probably wouldn't have been a little bit higher. But I mean, honestly, it all worked out the way I was supposed to. I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity than to come here and to get that call from George. It was just awesome. And even looking back at that, it all worked out the way I was supposed to. So really not upset or mad about it, but just know that it's time to get back to work. How much does it mean that this team believes in versus the economic, etc? How the word is that kind of stack up? This organization has that belief in you. So much. So I feel like that just gives me, you know, just humbles me to know that my work that I

had to push forward has to be better. And I know I can be better and play better. I just try to where my mindset is. It's just like, how can I even exceed this? How can I show my appreciation after on that field? You know, the fact that they believe in me and my teammates just makes sure I don't want everyone to let them down. And I know that with moving forward and stuff that I definitely won't, I definitely won't want what. Just going to keep working and keep going. Just happy that they believe in me. No exciting is that you're locked up now for your attention, but you look at this young defense and a lot of these guys can be long for the ride, which you kind of move forward with this solid decision. Yeah, we've got a lot of young talented guys on this defense. And I think we're only going to get better, you know, even just moving forward. The way we've been able to accomplish things this year. And I feel like we still haven't played our best defense, you know, as a unit as a whole.

I mean, people have individual stuff, but I feel like just together we can grow and get even better. And I feel like that just comes with just more time. And it's like you say we have a lot of young guys and I'm just excited to be a part of it. And definitely going to do all that I can to lead and help us get to wherever we need to go. I don't know, honestly, I always believed in myself and, you know, my family helped me with that so much. Just always believing in me, always telling me what I'm capable of and helping me along. And I mean, like shout out to my mom for everything that she's done for me and getting me to this point. Yeah, I mean, I don't reflect too much. I only like to move forward because I feel like this is just like a starting point for

me. And I know I'm going to grow for this, but I mean, all to that credit, I reflect with my mom and I'm sure she'll help me out with that. What could a lot of moms say like what are the next steps that they want to take and see yourself? Yeah, pro bowl for one, being a all pro, outside linebacker, being dominant and, you know, really holding myself up to the standard that was set here. I feel like with Vaan and the Marcus Ware and even Chubb and, you know, just want to keep going and keep working. And, you know, I just, I have this new motivation, you know, to keep going now. So just really excited. Lots of awesome things. We get work so long, they get you for a cover of this issue and you get caught by the witness, how important it is to get back to the shelter, get lunch and come to the place when you're trying to make sure you get a chance. Yeah.

I've always thought of that. I mean, make sure it's very little things. I mean, I think it's a little bit more work knowing that the things that we've done have been good enough to this point is just cleaning up the little small things. You know, this was going to happen as league, you know, you're going to get punching your mouth every now and then. But it's how you respond to it. And I feel like our team has definitely a good mindset to show that our response will be strong and solid and, yeah, I got full confidence moving forward. I mean, both MVP caliber guys, we all know how decorated Patrick Mahomes is and easy to play against. Some of his things are quite high.

They really said I can see a lot of the attention, but thank you from the deep. How long have you been to have pushed each other by the last couple of years? Yeah. Baren's been my guide for my teammate for eight years. For a past this, and even our time in the league, and I was really hurt and really sad to see him go. But I know it's a good opportunity for him. And I know he'll take full advantage of it. We all know how talented Baren is. Fantastic football player. Fantastic dude, man. That's my brother. And I wish him all the best. I talked to him before he went. And I know he's going to go there and ball. So I'm just excited to see what he does. It's obviously, if it's a quick game, you're not going to get there. So just get your hands up.

I think it's just more of a feel thing. Is that in particular, seems really good at that? Or it's some claims that he does well in the area? No, yeah, Zach is definitely good at that. And I think that's something the interior is very good as a whole, just even hands up. Baren, what's your impression of Jonah Ellis now with a few months working with him? You know, Jonah got a lot of natural skill. I think his upside is very high. But I mean, like anywhere, there's a learning curve from playing, coming from college, and NFL. So I think he's just been continuing to develop and continue to get better. I'm happy what I've seen. But I mean, obviously, I know he has high expectations for himself and not only him, but our whole unit. So I'm just like I said, excited to see him keep growing. What's the most challenging aspect of that learning curve for you and the community? Or really, I guess you're too. I think the biggest thing was switching from inside to outside. I mean, inside, you five yards off the ball kind of versus edge, you right there with somebody in your face. So just kind of learning how to just that change up. And I think just learning how to get off the ball, and inside, you have time to read outside.

You don't have that much time to read. You have to be kind of very decisive. So just getting reps at it. That was the biggest thing to have me. And I think that it'd be something to help wellness students get reps. Some more reps to get the better view of you. Darren, can you talk to your relationship with Jonathan Cooper and tell you guys about how you're from Rotterdam kind of forms your relationship up front? Oh, yeah, that's my dog. I mean, I play with him four years at a high-alt state. So I think just being in other place, like a high-alt state together and going through that hard training and then making it out on the other side, I think we just able to hold each other to that standard. And I'm afraid to hurt one another. Feelings if we don't lift up to that standard. And he know how to push my buns. I know to push this, but it's so, you know, I'm grateful to have him as a team, maybe, in this area where you get to play somebody from your college. I forget how much you're experimenting due to this atmosphere, especially with the defensive ends just in terms of how you want to rush off each other. How you communicate all of that? I think it's just the time you learn to rush as a dealer. This is a perfect time for us just to learn how to rush together. You know, we meet together. You ask the guy who's to your side,

what you're thinking on this play and feeling. So you just kind of get a feel for it when that scenario pops up on the practice field or in the game. And just creating that dialogue is, I think, as a big estate and asking questions. So. There, and you've got a back to screen drive on Sunday because you want more time? Yeah. Don't hold it against me if I can't say too much because I've been focused on training camp. So my publicist and my agent's kind of been doing a lot of the leg work in my mom. But yeah, we just, we're going to have a big event out here. Sunday, I believe, up there in the parking lot. They're going to have a cone of ice machines, some jump houses. We're going to be donating the backpacks. I think over 150 backpacks for the kids for the upcoming school year with supplies and a bunch of different things. But just trying to get the kids excited for going back to school. And obviously helping out families who might not be fortunate enough to buy their kids the supplies they need for school. So just trying to do what I can to have my community here in Denver. I'm definitely lose a good battle.

I sleep better at night. But Jaylen is very talented and getting a lot better day and day like every single day I see him getting better. So for Jaylen, it's great. And I'm sure I'm sure trying to be back. But and I'll get plenty of reps against him. But Jaylen's tough. So it's a battle with him too. And I think for him, he's working his way into a position of being a starting caliber tackle, for sure. You talked a lot about the conversations you have with Trent, kind of, Sharon tips and things like that. Do you have some more conversations with Jaylen? A little bit, not as much I'd say. But we're going at it every day. We have a good working relationship, for sure. He's a great dude. And him and McKibits, both very solid players and fun to work against. And how has Yeter Gross-Mautos

stayed into the rotation with you guys, up front? He's doing great. We've been on him every single day. He's got a lot of talent. So I think this scheme will bring the best out of him, for sure. I'm talking to Chris Kassert yesterday about Leonard Floyd. And when he's out there, like, in shorts, and with a shirt cut off, and you see how thin he looks, he looks almost like a basketball player. And how does he hold leverage? Which are your observation on how he survives? And not only survives, but thrives with that kind of build. And I think that's what I'm going to say. He's probably survived, but thrives with that kind of build. Do I have some men? Have you seen him up close? I know. He's pretty built. He's about 245 shredded, probably like 5% body fat. And he could run. So I think it'll be just fine in this scheme.

And he's proved that he could rush the pass or so. That's good to have him. He's played a lot of 100 straight games. I know everyone in the NFL is tough. And maybe you don't get a sense of guys' toughness trying to camp or whatever. Does he have that reputation? Or are there things you've seen from him that have its way and how he's able to stand with you? Well, for a guy at his age to work as hard as he does, and then come in with a mindset of trying to get better every day. It's impressive to see. He doesn't like missing days. I think he had an off day to day for the first time of camp. And you kind of have to force it on him, because he's that type of guy. But some guys are just more resilient. And there's a lot of luck that goes into playing the sport. So but it's good to have a guy who's reliable and really

talented. A couple of times in camp where he looked like he tweaked something or something, he kind of went off to the side. And then we'd look at him like five minutes later, he'd be back out there. I don't know if you were around him. And then do you ever talk to him in those moments or kind of hear what his process is? Yeah, I mean, you're always dealing with something. And he's been in the league a long time. So it's not like he's out there feeling amazing every rep he takes. So nothing serious. So that's good. And he's very tough. Some of the coaches yesterday obviously were brand and coming at potentially mixing in three, four looks a little more. Obviously, mostly stayed, not dropping in the coverage. What would your perspective be and how comfortable would you be if you were asked to run some three, four looks? I'm liking our changeups that we're doing. I think in the NFL, you have to evolve every year. And we've had a lot of success with what we do.

And teams are starting to game plan it and have answers for us. So we have to evolve and we're doing that. And I think we have a lot of athletic defensive ends. And I don't mind dropping. It's kind of fun. Not something I do often, but it keeps them honest. And it could end up getting you more sex by them not knowing exactly what we're doing. Thanks. That's it for the video. Hey, Michael. We know you ended up at Streetsboro, but I understand you started at Benedictine. Could you where were you born and how did you end up in Streetsboro? I'm so born and grew up at Heist originally. And I lived there just about my title Heist and Ben.

I got to age was 15. That was like at the end of Benedictine. And then my mom promised me I bought a Streetsboro. That was a better pay. So she decided it was better for us to move out there. And Benedictine was going to be our driver every day to get to school. So it just wasn't beneficial to her. So my last three years of high school out there, Streetsboro, my sophomore year senior year. Hey, Michael, Tom, with us on the AP. We saw it on TV just a little while ago. Then you became a dad during the season last year. What's fatherhood been like for you? How's that changed you? Yeah, I've been the best. This has been a greatest addition to my life for sure. Teach me a lot of patience. Just being a big role model for my father and my sister. I mean, it's just the best feeling for him to even be around this and witness this. He's in all the videos. And you know, just give him something good and look back on, like, you know, dang, my dad did something real hard. So.

Hey, Mike, Chris Eastman, Renee, I can be conjournal. You've talked about playing, you know, coming, you know, staying in the same area and, you know, playing in your backyard. Do you feel like, you know, that puts, I don't want to say, put pressure, but the opportunity to sort of be, you know, be a role model, be, you know, be someone that, hey, look, like you say, I came from here, I can look where I can go. How much do you sort of take that, you know, take that mindset, take, you know, you take that responsibility on. So I mean, I'm not one of those guys who's going to run away from the pressure. I mean, I went to it, I went ahead on. So, you know, it's going to be a lot of pressure on me playing in my hometown. You know, a lot of people are going to have to buy the patients, but you're not the end of the day as a player. I still have to manage, you know, that I have to be in the administration. So I'm going to home myself very, you know, I on that home, I'm just a son of a, and just got to be the best way that I can be at control of the trouble. Michael, I'm sure you watched the, the success that Dauwann Jones had here last year

as a rookie. How excited are you to join Dauwann and, and maybe kind of follow in his footsteps in getting off to a great start as a rookie? Oh, yeah, that's my dog, you know, Dauwann. He just called me right before this. I mean, just we were talking about this the whole time. You know, even with my, with my, my 30 days is, you know, there's a saying like, man, if you get here, it's, it's, oh, it's over with like, you know, does the best duo like, and all that, you know, all of his defense wise, and we bring a lot of juicin practice, even at the Ohio State. So I know it's going to be, you know, 10 times more at the, you know, next level, but really blessed to be able to play it for my brother, I put it on my brother for life. Hey, Mike, I guess your teammates started calling you, baby, Aaron Donald, pretty early on. Is that true? And I guess what did that mean to you? You're that from them. I mean, I feel like that's a, you know, that's a great, you know, that's a great experience for sure. You know, a lot of people can't just be compared to that. So, you know, like, I mean, it just shows, you know,

how, how my teammates are, are about me, but, you know, just really appreciative of them. And just be around the black eyes and know this top of the top, that's the best, you know, in the country. Hey, Michael Ashley Bastak from Cleveland.com again. I think we ask every D-Lineman who gets drafted here about the opportunity to play with Miles Garrett. Just how much does that excite you knowing the season he's coming off of and how excited are you to get a chance to pick his brain every day? Oh, yeah, not doubt me from day one, I'm definitely going to be, you know, whatever he does, he's just real, you know, aware of like, you know, how does he get his body right? What is he doing after practice? Just, you know, those guys, those vets, you know, they're not vets for no reason. They're not in this league, you know, playing multiple years back to back having these great seasons, you know, so it's just, it's just a great honor to be around somebody like that. And, you know, it's just going to be, I got to come in and put my heart on from day one

until, you know, whenever I leave. Michael, how much interaction did you have with Jim Schwartz in this whole process, see the pro day or your visit here? Yeah, it was just really just my visit here, you know, Coach Schwartz was just, you know, Amy and Coach Jock were on me. It's all throughout there. We were, hey, we're home, but they were just, you know, surrounded by me throughout the whole of day. So, you know, just building a great relationship from the beginning, we came, Jamie, we came after him. Hey, Michael, I know obviously the Ohio State guys, there's a bunch of guys that went back this next year where you tempted it all to go back and try to chase the championship with those guys, like how close did you actually come to that before you decided to go to the NFL? I kind of made my decision before I'd have seen it started. I was pretty sure on that, you know, especially when I had my son late in the year, that's solidified it, you know, it wasn't like I was tempted to go back. I mean, for sure, I mean, I feel like, you know, it's still, I've been in business,

but you know, my car has to do with, was right from my family and it was just, it was just better for that, you know, in that way. I got a, I can't think about it, it's just a media personal, you know, saying preference. Got to think about it as a whole. When I'm running routes and, you know, try to understand the whole play, the whole concept, from a very deep level and try to find those holes in the defense as well and be on the same page with the quarterback. Do you ever receive a back panel like you played at the game? No, no, so I actually played quarterback growing up until my junior year of high school, so that's kind of what I'm able to transition to Titan. Why do you switch? There's just some things as a tight quarterback battle and the coach knew I could play Titan, so, you know, I kind of wanted to do it too. There's something that I was interested in. So it's kind of how that came about. Do you get to do this where 51 kind of last year? Right. Back to the Titan, Titan here in the event. And then there were 40 countries. Yeah. I'm sure you had a lot of suitors. Why come to a place where that's not necessarily

been the past history in terms of production in Titan? Right. Yeah. And I think Coach Key, I mean, he hit on all the things I wanted to hear in some things that didn't want to hear. You know, I mean, that's real as a coach. And you want to be in an environment that's going to push you in all aspects of the game. And being in Titan, it's not just about past catching. You know, you got to block. And, you know, I think that's something that I want to keep developing. And, you know, going against these guys every day, I mean, running routes and blocking these guys every day. I mean, it's going to make you better. So I think I have a, you know, a vision of where I want to be as a Titan. And I think this place gives me the best opportunity to do that. I think that's what I'll get in production more about, like, well, around and make yourself something. Yeah, I think so. Just whatever way I can help the team, whatever they're asked for me to do, I'm going to do. So what did you want to hear from you? What was that? What did you say that you did like here? I liked everything. But like, you know, coaches, like, they sometimes just tell you what you want to hear. You know, you don't always want that. You want someone that's real. And you get the real with me, you know,

shows some things that like, I need to improve on, which I like to hear, but not everyone wants to hear. You know what I mean? So stuff like that. I'm actually not sure. I'm really good at revolving. Which of the descendants are so far? It's been back to getting the best part. Yeah, I mean, they're all great. There's so many of them. I mean, I think, you know, honestly, I'm not, I'm so locked in on the plays. At the time, they're like, I don't really have time to see who's even across from me. So it's kind of hard to really think about who's given me the most trouble at this moment. Keanu was saying, Caleb and Nathan kind of vouch for you or took the lead. You were a good player from the, from the crew game. Have you ever changed the dark to Caleb or late to the play? Yeah, I did. Yeah, late one's awesome. Got to know him a little bit before he went off and started training. So he was awesome to be around, awesome to talk to, and same with Caleb, they're just great people. They're in your corner. They're in your corner. Yeah, yeah, they've been great so far. How much do you have? I'm just coming here in January and having that opportunity to be with the team as they went about National Team.

Right, yeah, it was great. I mean, just seeing the culture they have here and how they run things. You know, they had that group of guys that really, you know, led the way and showed me what it looks like to win here. So it was awesome. Thanks. Thank you. We need together. Let's train together to be able to groom these guys to be flexible in and out of packages. And that helps your depth too, right? So it may not be like, who's the next best defense of back of the game? Well, it may not just be the guy replacing a guy that got injured in that position, right? You may have to move pieces around and that flexibility helps us for sure. Competition, honesty, incredible competitive. It's never seen with that. Right? So I want to see consistency from the guys. I want to see, you know, it's we want our guys to be consistently on the rise, right? It's not OK to like two days better than you're taking a step back. And like every day we need to be consistently on the rise.

So like those habits, your consistency and then your competitive mentality, that's what I want to see. We'll coach them. We'll get them in the right spot. I don't worry about that. But I want to see that competitive mentality, that hunger. And that's what I've seen from the, what a workout so far. I mean, this morning it was, it was a real one in here. And that's, you know, what coach Mick has developed with coach Dave Breachers, what we've reached on defense too. I mean, that competitive mentality, I want to see for those guys. Yeah, I think consistency for any young players, the biggest thing, right? So you see flashes of talent, right? But you want to be able to have over and over and over and over again. I'm not saying that they have not been in a way. I'm actually really pleased with where those guys are right now. But that's going to be the biggest thing is, you know, when you're playing in situational type things or packaging things like that, that's different than maybe you're out there for 60 snaps in a game, right? That's a different type of feeling, right? So the consistency of performance is important in those

because you're putting a lot of different ever situations, right? So that'll be the biggest thing is responding to those pressure situations and being consistent in performance. And playing in the middle is to better suit more than the role. And they talk about roles. They talk about roles in the stuff. Yeah, our job is to put the best football players on the field. So we, you know, latins role was latins role because that's what latin did. K-Lems role was K-Lems role because that's what K-Lems did. All right, so then you say, okay, we have some search coming back. We have a lot of new pieces, right? So we say, okay, what do these guys do holistically well? And then let's highlight those things and put them in position to be successful. That's all our job is coaches, right? So clippet guys in position to be successful. And that was spent a lot of times in defense staff talking about that, personnel conversations. And that's our job of the spring is to make sure that we're getting those pieces, right? At the slot, Jordan had such a great year, you guys last year. Who are some candidates to kind of replace them now? And you called the nickel, you called the slot, I don't mean. Yeah, nickels, what we've called. Okay. Yeah, Lorenzo Styles has done a bunch of awesome things at that position.

When you look at the, the main Matthews and what he's been able to do playing on the outside, but also the toughness he brings in the slot from that position. So there's a number of guys that have those traits. And it's a unique guy to be able to do that, because you're not just a corner, you're not just a safety, should you fight like a linebacker sometimes too. So that interchangeable piece has been really important. Jordan did an awesome job of that. And then we were able to even grow the packaging last year because of the things that he was able to do. Coach, they said about you at the National Championship celebration. Sure, it's things he's told you privately. But for him to say that at the championships, the same you're one of the rising stars in the industry, one of the brightest young minds. I had me make you feel really good. Just your takeaway from, I know your humble guy probably don't want me to ask you about. No, no, you can ask anything. I think at any time that you get recognized for your hard work and your contributions also, I appreciate Coach Day saying it. I've got an awesome relationship with Coach Day. I think the world of him, I try to just be up behind the scenes operator. I don't mind the spotlight, but I try to just be behind the scenes operator and put the guys in position to be able to shine. But I appreciate him of him and look forward to keeping

contributing. What are your weird thoughts of foreign coach Patricia? You got your chance with me for the first time, very engaging personality. Just weird fight, obviously very decorated. Just put your thoughts on coach Patricia. Yeah, I mean, first off, when Matt Patricia walks in the room, the room speaks for itself, right? So, but first off, like a great, great guy, a great guy, like just humble, gracious. I've been very impressed with the person. And I had no previous relationship with Matt, and also it was awesome to be able to build that relationship over the last couple of weeks. The football intelligence is incredible. The IQ period is incredible. This is a very, very, very smart guy. What he's been able to do with defenses and the wealth of knowledge and experience that he brings, is like he's operated as a GM and offense coordinator, defense coordinator, head coach. I mean, it's pretty amazing when you start talking about the things that he's been able to do throughout his career. So I have a ton of respect, anyways, surface level, but then to be able to know the man, I can't say enough positive things, but he's gonna be an awesome, awesome, awesome partner. I'm open to him. Last thing for me,

I think is the Bible. Yeah. Has he shown you the Bible? He's shown he has it here. Oh, it's huge. It's stacked up. It's stacked up. I've studied those New England teams from before for many years. Actually, I've used some of the things that they've done with their safeties as teach tapes throughout the year. So I, especially when I was a younger coach, in the profession I used, NFL examples to teach guys earlier on my time at Duke, and I still carry those two with teach tapes in the night. So I've studied that defense from afar. Obviously, without even knowing that. And then you have him to be able to be here, and then take you through, okay, the history of why I got to that, his background with, you know, a bit of all the check and all those things is pretty awesome. But yeah, the amount of detail is amazing. Like it's not a fluke why they've had the success. You know, when you say, okay, let's talk about a coverage. The amount of detail in the coverage where you take all this high level information and you boil it down to a very simple, so the player can go play functionally. Like that's, it's a true talent that he has. The freshman that you have here,

what do you, what do you have, what's been up so far? Yeah, before you've been to field, what kind of things Dean looked for for his free practice starts a kind of technology in the skin environment? Yeah, it's a great question. You know, so we have the Fahim Cody into Shaw here right now. They've all been awesome. Like first off, who they are as people, has been fantastic. Like those guys show up early for everything. They're on point, body weight. Every little marker that we look for, academically, how they're performing, all that has been great. Fahim came in with a ready-made college body that's documented through recruiting. Work's excited about him. He's learning the ways to be a Buckeye, what it means to be a Buckeye, follow on the other guys, and his men also has been awesome. Cody's been great. Cody's a worker. Cody's a worker. He's been fantastic to have every single day. He's made big time improvements, really excited about him as well. And then, Deshaun is coming off that injury that he had, his high school season, and he's been great as well.

So he's been really good. All that have been diligent, workers bought in, they're hungry, and they want to get better. So work's excited about all those guys. Is the Shah going to be able to practice and spring practices? He'll be limited in summer and spring ball. So he'll be small with him, but he's progressing very well. Very well. With Fahim, obviously, you know, he's a college-ready body. He's a really good father. It's obviously a D&D. What stood out about him? What's his third and what are you guys doing? Yeah, he brings a physicality to his game. You know, you've been able to see him roll down with the box, blitz, do some of the things that we've been able to do with safety, but bring a physicality and mentality with him, you know? And then, obviously, when you get here, then it's a totally different level, right? So everybody's as good as you, you know? And, but now I think very highly of him and have high expectations for him. When it comes to Caleb, now. I'm curious. He's obviously on top of his small brain and his physicality. How much does that allow you to feel like you're experiencing with some of the things you can do? It feels like he could succeed at a lot of different positions and feel,

how much does that allow you to say, okay, we can do this, we can do that, and move some things around you by the other way. Yeah, it definitely allows you to, and as a coach, you would say, you have to be able to do that, right? So you've got essentially a very, very unique chest piece that can, like how many guys can really play the D&D as far as feel the shallow part of the place, you know, do the different things that we ask him to do at that level, right? Guys can move around and do it, but very few can do it to that level where he's elite at all of it. Very few pieces that, okay. So it's keeping it simple and off to be able to go be functional with him and the pieces that are around him, but that's a huge part of, you know, you see our successes past year. A lot of that was put in Caleb in position, be successful, you know? That's, especially like as we, you know, say from the half point of the season towards the end, that was critical for us. So yeah, I think it's a responsibility as a coach when you have a guy like this to make sure you're putting him in position. Believe in played a good bit as a freshman last year and obviously room state healthier a little bit too, but didn't get as much action, but still, you know, what's the first guy off the bench?

What, what have you seen from him? Where is he at, his development? I've seen a big jump from Lee. You're gonna see a different kind of guy when he takes the field to spring. So he, the mentality, it's all mentality. So physically, it's why you saw, you know, the flash of him as a true freshman and he's always had that piece right there, but the mentality, the toughness, the grit that he has, I mean, that showed up big time right now. So I got big expectations for him. What does this spring look like for Kyle? Brian's talked about some of the guys who played a lot last or made me a little skilled. He could back, but it defense and obviously, second year in the system. What, what, what is his next thing? Is it like for him? Yeah, I think leadership is the biggest thing right now. You know what I mean? He's always been a leader, but he's got even a bigger leadership role because you had a bunch of guys that had played a lot of snaps here at Austin, right? Where you don't have as many guys playing snaps. So I think, you know, this, this offseason, he's been fantastic and transitioning that way it will work to the field now from a leadership standpoint, it's gonna be critical for him.

So we'll be smart with, like Coach Day said, we'll be smart with how he managed reps and you know, springs at time to build fundamentals, to build schematics, but really also find out what guys can do. And we know some of what he can do at high level, that we all do, right? So again, continue to get him better, but allow him to be able to influence the other guys to be able to do it, right? Are the, if I can sneak a little more, you're in a nickel spot? Yeah. Who are some of the guys who were sort of like, we'll wrap it that spot. Yeah, the Renzo styles, the main Matthews, and we've got some guys that you know have experience in there. And yeah, we've got some good candidates to be able to go into that spot. But those are close with the guys that you'll be able to see operating in there. Yep. Thanks guys, appreciate you, Pat. They're doing kind of playing time, but like some real meaning for reps. I think that our room definitely has a lot of great players, but as far as playing time, like that's a question for coach Norris. What do you mean if you guys kind of have prepping for that, though, throughout the call camp, maybe switching in and out and then really kind of seeing a lot of run to action?

Um, we're definitely, we're all getting like reps at each spot. So like, it's not just a just our band anymore. It's not just, it's not just you're here, you're there. We're all playing different positions. We're all learning different techniques. So it's making each one of us more versatile. So you've been playing some band and two. Yeah, so how comfortable do you feel about strong safety? I feel comfortable in any safety spot. So it's, I mean, the more reps you take, the easier it is. And I played both safety spots last year. So it's not really that big of a transition. What are the differences between the two spots that you have to be used to? Um, honestly, this year they made it so they're kind of, they're, I mean, they're both, they're both, you have to do each thing in both spots. So like, you have to come down and make tackles at bandy, you have to come down and make tackles at adjusted. Obviously it's boundary and feel so that the spaces are a little different, but I mean, you have to do everything that both say these. I mean, what's different, what's different this camp

compared to last camp? For me personally, I feel like I have, I develop their better routine. I feel like I'm more mature and what I'm doing. And I feel like just go out there and play and have fun. I think that's the biggest thing for me. Don't get too caught up on the last play. What have you added or what have you approved to your routine? Um, I think just getting here earlier. And at times last year, you know, when it's hard to maintain that routine throughout, throughout the whole camp or throughout the whole, the whole year. But this year, it's easier to maintain that because I know what to expect. I know the requirements of me and I know that the team is following. Were there guys in last year who's from that influence due to show up a little better? Um, yeah, for sure. I mean, everyone is required. BIA, our standard is so high that we challenge everyone. It doesn't matter if you're going to play this year. It doesn't matter if you're going to play two years from now. It doesn't matter if you're a true freshman.

You're going to come in early and we're going to put in the work just like everybody else because it's not just the starters that are held to the standard as everybody. It seems like Jaylen McLean, one kind of a similar trajectory as you were last year, where he's pushing for playing time right away. What have you seen from Jaylen? It's interesting. He's all over the field, man. I mean, he runs to the ball every play. He hits hard. You know, he's making plays on the ball. So I mean, he has, like I said before, he has a lot of potential. And I'm excited to see what he does this year. But if you talk about getting bigger, probably you can't put up 20 pounds last year. Yeah. You're able to keep that weight on. What is it looks like to candy? So I mean, through the season, it kind of fluctuated. But right now, I've gained even more weight. So I'm at like 195 now. And the plan is to get to 200, but it definitely builds confidence when you got to go down there and feel like that. Yeah, imagine you're playing books to the ball. You're still playing some. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. You were obviously on the end of a play in that mission and you were playing last year. Just what did you learn from that? I think that coach preaches competitive excellence.

And that means putting yourself in position to make a play. And that means practicing harder. That means taking each rep, like it's that big moment in the game. And that's definitely what I'll try to do this year. Is that something that you take a lot of pride in making plays on the ball? Yes, it is. It was a kid of that. Two nights, just give back. Keep on calling back watching his eyes and don't make a play. So how are you doing now? Safety's are playing both spots this spring. How are you finding that to your liking? I'm adjusting really well to that because I just can't just do more than just one play one to my. So it's just I just really. What Ryan said yesterday, how you guys said the prepping things on in that even last week. Everything's out a little too emotional. Can you give us an insight into how edited this spring has been? Yeah, we're all just winners, well competitive. You just want to win. So what have you been able to learn from Caleb Downs?

What are the approaches of the game, how he plays? What have you been able to take away every day? Really just like his mentality. He has that dog mentality. So I'm able to just pick up every single day, mentally and physically. How much does it inspire you to come in last year? See what Caleb did, see what life and dead. And know you have a chance to follow him there, what's that? It's just it's really special because I know I can be that great of a athlete as well. And maybe some men. What do you look at for this year? What do you need to do and give yourself a chance to get on field more here? Just really stay more in mind. Know it's my playbook and hopefully just in there and talking to other people. You said get bigger if you put on more weight in the last year? Yes, I have. What do you have to right now? I have to. How much do you think that will help your team? A lot because we know it's a physical game. You know, you got to be in a game. How is Coach Guerrero and how is it to come with that or say anything? He really knows the stuff. So just being able to take in every piece of advice

that he knows he's telling me it's just. What's Coach Patricia like? He's good. I like him a lot. He always talks to the guys. He's really loving. He knows about him. I think he's actually talking to you. Talk to anyone at the range personally. It's like just one of those hours of like career. Actually, me and my wife, we were just sitting at home and like the, I guess, 12 o'clock hit. And we were like, we thought it was going to be like immediate, you know, mayhem and kind of sat there for like 45 minutes of my age and was calling me. It was like, what do you think of Los Angeles? And I was like, I don't sound too shabby. And we talked about it. And you know, this sounded like the right move, good weather, good place to be, good winning culture, great staff. And you know, just everything overall was just a plus. So we couldn't deny that. I know this kind of nature of business. What is it like to make a decision like that?

Like such a life altering decision when it got on such short notice? Yeah, I mean, it is pretty crazy, you know, just the amount of timing you have. But, you know, you kind of have a, I've been on the outside looking in at this place for a while. So I kind of had a general idea what's going on. And a lot of familiarity within our building, like, Brad Holmes, you know, he was from here. So I kind of got to feel the people that, you know, they've been around and how they run things. So I kind of got a good feel about how it'd be here. Thank you. Thanks, sir. Thank you. Stu. They chose to do Jackson from the Rams.com. Maybe the next minute. My fellow Jackson brother, what's up, man? Hey, what's up? Listen, you spend most of your football career, whether it be, you know, college or obviously, the NFL now and the Midwest or East Coast. So now that you're here, what's it like just being out here and being in Southern California now?

We'll say the weather is beautiful, you know, it's excellent. And definitely going to miss the East Coast. You know, I've got a lot of roots there, the Midwest, you know, I've started a lot there, but not like new beginnings and no better place to be here. And I guess what did you notice about just this offense from afar? I know Jordan asked you about some of the specifics with schematic carryover, but, you know, beyond that beyond Matthew Stafford, what it would appeal to you about being a part of this offense and being a part of this team beyond those things. Yeah, just, I mean, a lot of similarities on what we do, you know, the gap scheme, play action and, you know, having to drop back, you know, I'm comfortable in whatever we've had. I've had eight, this would be, I think nine now, nine different offensive coordinators since I started college. So I'm comfortable in whatever it doesn't really matter. But, like I said, the pieces to the puzzle were, you know, incredible, whether it's the wire receivers, they're running back, the QB, the O-line, the defense, you know, it's a, it's a pretty good team over here. So I'm excited to be a part of it.

Thank you so much, appreciate it. Geary? Hi, Jonah. Geary Klein from the last time, what's the last time? Yes, Sarah, thank you, Geary. I'm curious to think, what was it like to be part of, you know, alliance, aid and organization that enjoyed that urge last season? And what, if anything, are your memories of playing against the Rams in that wild part game at Fortfield? Yeah, you know, being a part of something, you know, and the trick were for so long, the city was dying for a winner and being able to bring it there and, you know, change the trajectory of everything and bring some light to the situation. It was awesome and there's nothing like it. But, you know, when you face the LA Rams, you know, they got a special defense and, you know, up front, they, they got the guys, you know, so, being able to be on their team now makes it a lot easier. Sarah, Matt.

I'm a rapper to you, great. Hey, Jonah, great to meet you. And congratulations, man. Thank you, Sarah. Appreciate it. In free agency, how did you weigh the opportunities in terms of second contract really important? I mean, that's your money. You got to take care of that. But you also talked about how you want to be in a winning culture. You want to be in a place where you could succeed with a team, with a culture. How did you weigh those things and how great for you that the not-too-not-guess-a-ros with the team, with the established winning culture, with all this kind of stuff? I mean, yeah, once I heard the Rams were willing to, you know, do what they did and be able to go somewhere and potentially win it all. I mean, there was no denying it. There was some teams, you know, maybe we could have done some more. But I wanted the perfect balance of being able to, you know, set my family up for life and be able to win football games. You mentioned that the Rams have like, you know, they have a good reputation, and what is that reputation that other players on other teams, you know, they don't have a direct connection with the Rams. Think about the Rams. What is that, what is that vibe? Well, I mean, you just see it from the outside. You see that the quarterback and man, he's second and none.

And, you know, just all, like I said, the pieces to the puzzle are just incredible. And then you see Coach McVeigh and how they run things. And, you know, it's an approachable place, you feel. And you feel like it's somewhere you can get settled and pretty fast. And that's why I felt like it was a good fit for me. Before I moved here, so I sort of knew what to expect. What are some of the bigger cultural injuries we have? Just the way people speak to each other, like joking around with each other. As shown here, it can be pretty dry sometimes. And even though I go home and see my mate, so I say something that sort of doesn't seem like a joke, but it is, so you're going to get used to that a little bit. Yeah, it's the biggest ones, I suppose. It's a little more sarcasm than Australia's saying. Yeah, a little bit more sarcasm. And the way we speak to each other is, we're like the words we use for different things. I mean, I was just an example last time. I was talking about gardening with Ronald mates, and we were talking about using a whipers in the back, which is a weed wacker. And like, just a little things like that. You guys have no idea what I'm saying. I'm going to go look at that. Yeah.

It's awesome. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's exactly like that. But yeah, this is like a bunch of little words, I'd say, that, you know, I think in all of it, that I don't realise that he's actually Australian. I have to go back on it. Yeah, the guys are starting to learn. I hear that. So, I saw you leave the box and I picked up the things. It's a live there. It's a live there. It's a live there. It's a live there. It's a live there. One of the big things, we, it's selective for the one. So you can't just sort of walk in, you have to try out. But most of the guys go out playing Australian football, which the primary way to pass the ball is by punting it, essentially. It's a little bit different. But then we have a whole bunch of coaches that actually played a college football, and the Nathan Chapman played a few games at Greenbad. So he knows what to expect. He knows how to kick. He still goes out and boots in his old age, 45. So he, so yeah. And then they sort of, they pitch exactly what to expect. They don't give you any false hope, really. They say, you're going to go there. This exactly what it's going to be like. So it's sort of like a one, two, three year simulation

of what it's going to be like over here. So guys are ready to go. We're going to come. Two culture. It depends. It depends how good you are. How a lot of it's your mindset as well. So it's very, it's, you know, it's a unique off season. We might get two weeks, two weeks break, and then we enter and then spring in the summer and then fall in the season. So yeah. Two culture questions. One, have you ever had a Vegemite sandwich? Yeah. And two, I heard no real Australian with drink faster spirit. I've had my first foster in Nashville about two months ago. And? It's all right. It's fine. I won't be rushing back to it, but it's, it's Jason. And Vegemite? I love Vegemite. It's awesome. Yeah, I, I miss it a lot. I actually brought it over to Jarlas from Los Angeles, Australia. So yeah, I love Vegemite sandwiches. Have you tried to share it with anybody I've ever been to? I've tried, yeah. I mean, Nick doesn't mind it. I tried it with our one of our kickers, Casey Magger. He's pretty upset when he tasted it. Do you get some pretty good reactions out of the guys? But yeah, if you, if you, you know, a four to one ratio with butter on some toast,

it's pretty nice. What's the biggest similarity with your restaurant? It's been wise. Food. The foods, the foods seem like, I mean, we're very multi-culture country. It's America. I suppose we probably have more Asian influence, whereas America has more latin influence. That's probably the biggest food difference. But I mean, we have a whole bunch of Italian. Where I'm from in Melbourne has one of the biggest great populations outside of Greece. I think it's the biggest outside of Greece. Yeah, I mean, you could go either. You'd be, you'd be in the city, CDR, right? Do you have to watch everywhere you step? No, it's not that bad. Just every now and then, you're sort of look up and there might be a spot. There was something like this size of your pet. Sometimes, I mean, there's a little daddy long legs, you know, these little ones with the big legs, but like you'll be in six, so they're not sat around in the corners. But it's not too bad. Joe, I got class. Thank you very much. Thanks, Joe. I always feel like it's one for improvement. Never feel like you just got it. That's one thing.

A lot of people mess up one for like, oh, they have one good year. Okay, I'm relaxed. That's not any me. No, continue to do it for years and years to come. I feel like to myself for sure. Because you party no big, Torres, you just like me, you know, just came and kept it set. Not just working on my happy sales future here at Ohio State probably going to be, you know, next one for sure. What's it like, you know, it's like the national championship banner and seeing all the new signage, you know, you played a huge role. I mean, it's no subclass, no, the salary, no. Or all and no, the daddy run that we had as a choose freshman. But no, it's time to move on. I mean, that's behind us now. And I can't wait for this season to come up. What kind of obligation do you feel to a guy like put it in kind of take it when you're waving, showing how you work? I feel like he already got that. Just coming in, he already got that hard work at it. Quiet, just like me as I came in, just all about Bar really. I mean, he ain't here early. I mean, spend the time on Coach Hartline, meeting and everything. He doing it the right way, I should say. And he have a bright future here. Coach Hartline said he wants you to become more of a good player.

Yeah. Are you still part of all the brand new and the best leaders you've been through? Yeah. How much for a challenge that you are kind of a quiet guy? Yeah, it was a challenge. No, just stepping on my comfort zone. I mean, something everybody wanted to see for me, not just my coaches, but players on the team as well. We have a leadership meeting. There's a lot of people call me out on, just saying they want me to talk more. Working on it takes time. Not really the guy that's talkative or no. But lay by his empty butt. One thing I'm definitely working on is trying to talk more and get more of my comfort zone and just be able to. Is that open with? Do you have anything on the field? Yeah, for sure. That's definitely the biggest challenge. I mean, like I said, just stepping on my comfort zone and leading the guys and leading the younger guys as well. Do you guys open with Texas next year? Going back to the playoff game, do you think about that moving forward? Just kind of how you were taking out of that game? Oh, yeah. I think not really thinking about it. I mean, that's behind me. Maybe we won the game. We ended up going to the national championship I mean, we see it on week one.

I just know, can't wait to face a great opponent. What's your impression of Devin Sanchez so far? Yeah, big long corner, the Koran, physical. He got it all. And I can't wait to see things he do here this year as well. And what if you notice different? Is there anything different about this defense of these first three weeks of spring that's caught your eye? They just passed physical and willing to hit somebody I should say, saying they got the real change for me. And guys still go no door. They've been doing over the last year and a half. And so in the year and half, I should say. Coach, that makes the quarterback's live like he did for a couple of practices last week. As a live receiver, right now, how do you think your quarterback responded to that? Over offering? I think they responded pretty good. I did not expect the quarterback to be live in a scrimmage. That surprised me for sure. Coach Devin definitely surprised me with that. But I feel like they handled it very well. They took it so that we needed, I should say, tough enough.

Right. Why do you see those people like not holding back seeing how they handled that since obviously not a norm to do that? Learning anything, no, but it's definitely not known to see a quarterback get hit. It gets his no defense, I should say. But no, guys, they was getting hit for sure, but they was getting right back up. So come and put those in them for that. Two more questions. What's that? Can you get it? Definitely can't get better. No, I feel like I'm getting complacent. Always want to prove that. I'm just taking the day by day and just getting better each and every day. Why do you prepare for the spruing? In the expectations you're going to get on the next two seasons here, off the season you just had? Not really focused on the espacation that I have coming up or the year after that. Just focus on spring, spring, and just going to follow count and just get ready for the season as you say. As the expectations go, be there. And I really know something high. In my mind right now, I'm just being leader and just

focus on the team. Jeremiah, how much changes is right? Probably the last one. I thought that was the sudden. How much changes do you have in your daily life? I really know. We haven't really spoken about that right now. I don't really know. Once I asked a question. Jeremiah, a lot of guys have said that they want a lot of different championships, got taken down. They don't want to see it. It's moving into this year's MET. What is how important is that for you? And why do you think that's a different thing for this team? I mean, I said we can't live in the past. The 2020-14, they won the National Championship. This year, we did it. So we just took everything down and the weight room and everything. So we could focus on being ourselves and this our season. Great. Yeah, definitely. Like I did during that. But just now, we're here now. Let's just go forward. So you've got to get what's next, right? Yeah. You've got to climb up the depth of your life. You've got to see the benefit under Justin Fry now. And Tyler Bowen. What is that relationship been like with Tyler?

It's been really good. I love Coach Bowen. The guys who came in with him too, Coach Dickey, Coach Johnson, Coach Fields. They're all great guys. Definitely, great, oh, wine coaches. You get feedback from all of them. They're all on the same page every day. So it's really good having them. I'm really happy moments here. Just that it's exciting for sure. What do you learn? Did you think of these last couple of weeks of spring ball and went to workouts, I guess? Where do you think your biggest growth has been? I'd say my biggest growth has definitely been, probably like a strength factor. I'd say that it's definitely like from the winter, definitely like a strength and then getting work going through spring ball more. Just being more focused kind of like to bring more calm. Kind of, that makes sense. Just not freaking out before the play. What am I doing? Just playing football, I'd say that's probably my biggest. I was practicing. How is practice different before offensive wine coaches? Do you feel like it has changed the way that you're getting reps in on a reps, etc? No, I mean, after every play, you're getting feedback

from everyone. So it's great, because you'll have Coach Bowen and Coach Johnson still coaching the ones or the three of the two's. And then when you're running off the field, you got Coach Dick here, someone else coaching you up telling you what to do. So I mean, I think it's really awesome that we are capable to have four coaches in the room with us. So that's definitely very great. Have you been strictly at center? Are you playing some guard? Play a left guard right now. Yes, sir. Do you feel like there's a shift to center potentially down the road? I know you're improving that with obviously the card. I don't know yet. I mean, just left guard, that's what I've been taking reps there right now. That's just how it's going. As a freshman offense alignment with this Asia, this is pretty important, just because they're developmental part of that position. How do you, as a guy who was playing at high school, how do you develop that patient's knowing? It might be a year or two before you're out of use. I take it as like, you just got to keep just stacking days. You can't get down on yourself if you're not playing. You just got to keep developing.

And the guys we have in our room are awesome. The uppercise, my glue, Josh, Austin, Austin, Carson, Taggart, all those guys. They're great dudes. So it's really awesome being able to learn from them, like watch them get mental reps of them every day to see what they're doing. And then just take that back and just use what they use. So I mean, it's definitely just like, keep stacking days, just keep working. Don't really pay attention about that. Just work. It's really important. The interior of the offensive line, obviously, I've played a lot of football. It's a lot of important football. Who would you kind of lead on to your first day of life in the United States to try and learn very steady? How do I learn small things? Definitely, I'd say Luke Montgomery. That's a guy. Like, I just, every practice, I'm just, when I'm not here, I'm just watching him take his reps. Like, see what he's doing. When he has like a two-eye or a three-year-old from front of him, what footwork he takes, where he puts his hands, his head, just so I definitely say Luke is a guy that I never watch. Clothes just trying to see what he does. Is that one of the biggest transitions

to make even the jump from high school to college on the offensive line, just literally the small thing? Yeah, the steps and the hand placement. Yeah. That's definitely a huge thing when I first got here was, there's different footwork, pretty much every block you gotta take. I think it's the most detailed position on the field. It's like, everything needs to be perfect and block. Which you do. I tell you, taking steps and placement everything. How do you feel about it? Oh, it's good. I'd say it's good. I mentioned that to Lars, it's got a position you see yourself sticking with, or is that just kind of where it's going starting? I mean, I could see my stuff sticking out of guard. But I mean, I could play pretty much anywhere. I think I obviously, in the interior. Yeah, but right now it's just been less guard. So anyway, just I'm very, very, very, you did a nice, great job. Jake, you had the opportunity to watch those bowl games first and kind of get that experience on what it's like

to be part of a championship roster. What was kind of the biggest thing you took away from that whole couple of these experience? Yeah, I would say definitely watching all those bowl games and the national team just watching the Cowdy guys carry themselves like how they, like the preparation it took to get ready for that, just how they go about their days, like what they're doing when they're out here practicing, how they practice. So it was pretty much just like kind of just feeding off the moment what they're doing. I kind of got a glimpse to see like what it takes to kind of get to a stage like that and just kind of act. And stuff. That's a great thing. Jake, thank you very much. Jake, I know you get to watch a little bit of video of Caleb and Nathan and Jordan. What stands out about that group from your vantage point? Oh, they're, they're relentless, man. I mean, Nathan, Caleb and, I mean, everybody in that BIA core, yes, they can cover, but when it's time to stop the round, they'll come down 12 yards out however far off the front line, scrimmaging coming, though the nose in there and I respect them for that,

because there's going to be times where we need them, make them tackles, and I mean, they're displaying it this whole season. Yeah, how critical are they in a game of this magnitude? Obviously, everybody's critical. But you know what I mean? Yeah. Sort of the last line of offense, but sometimes the last line of offense is in the middle of it. Yeah. I mean, they play a huge role. I mean, like you said, it takes everybody from the front for, it's like a check reaction. The front foot don't do their job, then, you know, falls, you know, the back end. So we off to work as a collective unit. And I think there's a reason that there's 11 of us out there. And you know, it's crazy if one person doesn't do their job, then, you know, something can go wrong. But if we just all continue to stay, communication with one another, continue to just lay each other, you know, we have each other's backs and just trust one another. And man, I think that, that, that performance is going to be off the charts. Well, for the right, Kelly and Stitz, WSW. DT, how would you describe the mentality of the defense right now, getting this opportunity for Greenback and Jordan? Yeah, hungry and thankful. I mean, we know how the last time when, you know, we had a chip on our shoulder. I mean, we were riding high before that game and we took that loss and we came back

and had to make a couple changes. But I think we understand what, you know, everything's that stake right now, you know, just fighting to where another house day jersey for the next game. That's what's on stake. And just to be able to represent this, this, this, this state and this, this team. I mean, we understand what's on the line. And, you know, we're just hungry and blessed that we get this opportunity to play in the Rose Bowl. Right behind your Adam King, WBNS. What do you remember most about walking off the field in Eugene? What was kind of all your lines in that moment? I mean, there is a, I don't think anybody imagine it. Imagine us losing. You know, I didn't, that's for sure. And I think after that, it was kind of hit deep. I understand it that man, we still, there's still a lot of ball left to be played. I mean, you can let it sting for a little bit, but, you know, if you let it carry over too long, then, you know, there, there goes your whole season. But I think we did a great job of just understanding, coming together in this room right here.

Not being afraid of display or hold a accountability for one another. And, you know, as, as that happened, we came back, we grouped and, you know, we're just, we're just going right now. And, you know, I'm just blessed for those specific moments, you know, losing. I mean, no one wants to lose, but the testimonies and the things you're taught within those little situations speaks of all of you. I throw over, Vladimir, and draw. Jay, what did you see from Kenya? The last couple of weeks, that was there like a push from him, and then there were many conversations with him. He seemed like he's playing some special ball in Tennessee. Yeah, I mean, that's, that's my boy. He's in the R2X club too, but, you know, Keata, I mean, every time his numbers call, he goes out there and makes the most of it, no matter where, where we at in the game, when he goes out there, he's just hungry. He wants to go make plays and, you know, we see it in practice, so it's not surprising to us. Bill Rubino, I just want to ask this back. Dylan Gabriel's obviously very elusive in our talent,

and he's not very tall. How important it could be to just kind of stay in your past rush lanes and neglect a lot of balls and kind of make a difference that way. Yeah, I think it just comes out being disciplined. No one who you're playing against, like you said, Dylan, he's a, he's sharply very elusive. I mean, he can, he is making throws. I mean, he get out the parking to everything. So I think for us, we just got to be disciplined and just continue to just meet with Coach Jay, meet with the coach's nose and understand how we can just eliminate that. You're one question about you and Jack. I mean, your personality seems to be a little different. More on the quiet side, he's not. How about you? You've played together four years, both five store guys, kind of describe your relationship with him, friendship with him, and just kind of how you cop along each other. Man, that's my brother. Like he said, we're different, but very alike. I think outside, like you said, he's louder, I'm quiet, but once we're on that field, we're like the same person. We'll do anything for this team.

We'll die for our players, and we'll give everything we got. We've been in the room together for four years, correct? Yeah, fall camps. Every room? Yeah, sometimes a gov there. So the gov there. There's the meet one who's the messy one. We have our share of days when I'm neat. He's neat, or we might both be messy, but we do a good job. Yeah, I'd probably say I would better cook the jack though. Tony Gertman, Buck I Hell. When you're playing a team for the second time, and that was almost a season to go by now, how much of, are you at square one with the scouting and the preparation, or how much do you take in that game? How much do you avoid taking so that you don't have any creative signals to what you're going up against off that's on the offensive line? I say it's pretty 50-50. I mean, that game, like you said, was a while ago, but at the same time, they elevated as a team, so did we, so we understand that they had, they made some changes for sure. There's a certain tendency we can take back from that game,

but we also understand that they went on a little run after that, and we can see that they elevated as an offense, so we just got to continue to watch those games, dissect the other games, and just continue to see what stands out and what they changed from the past game. We got a couple calls on Zoom that will wrap up with, first we have Nick Hamilton from Nightcast Media. Nick? I just wanted to ask you basically about the synergy of this defense, and how you guys were able to not only celebrate the triumphs, but get through the adversity, be able to be this top-notch defense that you are in college football today. Here, Pete, the question one more time. Yeah, no problem. I wanted to ask you about the synergy you are able to develop over the course of the season, obviously celebrating the triumphs, but also getting through the adversities to where you go, all the top-notch defense that you all are today. Yeah, I mean, like you said, we went through a lot of trials to trials, but there's a lot of things we can take away from all the wins and losses,

and from those wins, we understood that, hey, we can be the best defense in the country, and from those losses, we understand that there's still things that need to be fixed, and I think when you take all that in at once, that comes down to the common goal, or the common target, which is, there's always learning points everywhere, and depending on how we dissect those games, or how we just continue to come as one and elevate, we continue to just collect all those learning points and just continue to grow from them. And one final question. Joey Coppin, Columbus Dispatch. JT, what have you guys done better in the Tennessee game, and just late in the season, you think about turning some of the pressures that you've got on quarterbacks and the sacks, and getting a home in some of those situations? Yeah, I think it was more just understanding the defense as a whole, understanding everybody's job. I think as the season went on, we got to understand that, you know, we have to know what's going on in the backhand,

we have to know what's going on in the lineback recruit to understand what plays we have, room of freedom, and I think once we understood that, and got a better understanding of everybody's job, I mean, it showed this play because everybody knows what each other is doing. It's not like the lineback is know what they're doing. The corners and B.I., they know only their job. I think we all know each other's job, and we continue to ask each other questions on, you know, if they're bliss on how they can get to the quarterback, and you know, if I'm dropping, playing quarterbacks, I can ask Cody on how to open field tackle it. So, you know, we just kind of lean on each other's understanding, because, you know, like I said, like Denzel knows how to play corner-bedded, then I know how to play corner. So, you know, he has more wisdom at that position than I do. JT, thank you very much. Thank you. Thanks, man. Next time in here. Just how different your team, your role in this tournament, wasn't you getting college student, getting club pool, not in all this time, just how different you feel? Not different, just from everything to go to the world, and it's the same thing. Yeah, I can think you kind of realize that, you know,

this is, you know, this is your life, you know, you got to, you know, come in here, and play single-highest day, like playing with the best ever single day. You know, you got the time in, you know, you got to, you know, make sacrifices, you know, to, you know, what you want to get out of it in the end. Oh, you know, along the fight, you know, school just, you know, live on your own, you know, it's good for you to do a lot, and, you know, as you get, it just makes you better overall. You graduate from here, one of your two, you have got like Riley and Peter Andrew, and you look up to, you know, guys, you know, I'm going to pick that role now, but now you have got to, you know, what kind of leaders and qualities that you have to, do you have to, do you have an agency role, do you have a job on that? Yeah, I mean, just kind of, you know, just showing the way around this building, you know, just, you know, how we do it here at the high-stay, how we operate. You know, they, you know, I think all three young guys coming in have done a great job, you know, they've, you know, great work ethic, you know, I think, you know, for me, you know, the offseason, it was more like, you know, like, you know, for example, kind of thing, and sprinkling a little bit of, you know, vocal leadership in there as well,

but, you know, just kind of, you know, just kind of work with them and, you know, kind of showing them how, you know, build a guy and how we do things in the room, is, you know, definitely carried on to that. Being a part of that championship round last year, I guess, what did you learn from that? What did they went on? You guys went on, I guess, what do you learn about, like, what do you think? This is the best level. I would just say, you know, staying together, you know, our biggest thing was, each week was just trying to keep that group together each week, and, you know, I think, last year we had such a strong bond together, you know, with all the guys, so I think that was really the motivation, you know, just staying together and, like, like, a band of brothers. James has talked about the past. I think you have decided in our battle, you know, kind of made that two-deep, but James has talked about the past from the past, and you're playing well, you're making plays, consistently, you're going to play well. You're going to play well, you're going to be doing things and you're going to be doing a good, you're going to be doing a good job of doing a lot of things. Yeah, I mean, I think, you know,

just starts with, you know, coming out to practice every day, you know, put your head down, just, you know, making sure you're going hard, ever you can play, you know, knowing what you're doing, you know, so you can build that trust. But I think, you know, just having the guys around, you know, like, sunny, R.V.L.P, and, you know, you know, you know, you know, being in there, you know, playing in games, everything like that, you know, D'Line on, and, moving to your questions and stuff. So, so you're ready? Where do you sit down? Always looking for work and talk are you? Or is it number 2? Number 2, 3? Could you just give it a little more. Take this drizzle. Thank you. Be able to sense the urgency in terms of being part of that 2D to provide depth, or maybe more than that. This season, how could you go in here, too? I think that's kind of what it springs for is individually just continue to perfect your craft under some day.

Before that second week, or any more, whatever. But I mean, I think that's definitely my hand, obviously, you know, a camera and a plane. So, I think that's definitely one of the big things. I think Coach Gohan's a really good match that he's received. He's really good coach, really good person. And then obviously we've got Coach Dickie, Coach Johnson, Coach Fields. We're all good at this. You know, it's kind of four coaches now. How does that change? A practice. I mean, we're a lot more split up because we've got more coaches to do more drills and stuff. So it's a lot, it's more efficient stuff. Are you rapping strictly? Are you doing something? I'm not. I'm not. I'm not. You guys. Who's got a little bit more up with the facility? I'm going to say it's time for our final thoughts. There's a little bit of a team. I was up in the mix. I'm staring. Uh, being, obviously, I need to be versatile because last year, I was a little bit more up. Last year people went down and like, you've got to be ready with your numbers called, obviously, because we had Seth go down, get Jimmy go down. And like, you always, you've got to be ready 100% of the time otherwise.

You just got to be ready. You guys being here for a lot of different sports you've done right now. We've seen that throughout all the guys on the list. I would say like half the line is doing that. Maybe come from Michigan. Like, that's not too common. Or a higher state player to come from there. What does that experience like? I would say it's not. I wouldn't say it's that crazy because I grew up in Michigan State fan. But obviously, I committed North Western because I never got, I never got really like looked at by the Michigan State coaching staffs. And then obviously, they didn't have like a great obviously. I was talking about fire. So obviously, and then Ohio State called me some like, you can't pass it up. So obviously, not here. What is your goal for this season in terms of your development and where do you want to be by some ball campaigns in the season starts? My goal is just to get better every day. And just to be what I need to be esteemed to go away games. Wherever you've been primarily working this spring, what position?

Right guard left guard. Right guard. Got one game to listen. How have you changed physically? Last year like, wait, are you up to just how have you changed physically? I got here because I came, I was in summer and roley. So I came in at like 2.95 and now I just like consistently creeped 15. I imagine I tried to be away creeped 15. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You play both guard spots, I think you're seeing, right? Right. That seems like everybody would talk and just play multiple spots as you were saying. You need to be, you guys learn last year, you have to be a person to go line before about that if you would. Obviously, because it's not good when you're all American center goes down last year. But obviously, Carson was really good asset. So he started the year before. So he's really good. It's not like we had a big drop off. So he was going to be ready. He never's gone. Yeah, if you obviously could lose a coach probably, you know, the guy you've got a little relationship with. You had a year here on campus, but then someone coached, but when he comes in, they obviously they coached John. I mean, I know you knew from Purdue a little bit at least. Well, what was the like to hear that he's coming in and be like, oh, this is familiar and they're kind of already know. It's good seeing familiar faces and yeah, obviously, I like both of them.

So it's, I mean, it's not really a drop off. It's right. But especially a very neat set of noise. Sorry, I called. I just walked out. It might be busy over there. Jerry's gone. Did they tell you about the opportunity here in Asfari's meeting a player of your sort at a position on the offensive line? Well, I mean, you get to see me at Los Tacos and this, I'll be a good fit, you know, coming in. But I was, I think it was going to be all stressed, you know, lots of other great, all kinds of linemen in the portal that have lots of great skills. You'll say that. Fill wise on now. I'll be good fit when it comes to, just like what you guys do. But if you see does, I'm going to psych the people here. What's kind of the ultimate feeling now about that? I think it's a big experience for them. What's kind of the feeling about them? Yeah, it's, it's a, it's definitely good feeling. It's great. I'm glad that I was actually able to come down here because I mean, Zoom calls and phone calls are nice, but you know, in person is a lot different. And this is again to know the staff here again to know coach Herb and to know coach

Noel, I was a great experience overall. Who else have you checked out during this process? What other schools? I've talked to some others, so I've talked to a, a house here in Iowa and an A&M and really just, yeah, that's what I've been, I've tried to keep it short, tried to keep it sweet. I really need to be 200 bucks of schools. I mean, that's not the main priority, like I'm, are you entering decision mode now or do you intend to take some trips in early January? Yeah, I'm done with this decision. When do you want to decide? Sometimes I'm a good Christmas. Good. Good. For those of us who only see maybe highlights of you, what are kind of your strengths and areas that you're looking to improve on? So shrink wise, I would say, prior to this movement, I mean, I would tell my coach, I would very well for a 300, 45 pound guy. If I ever done on film, this like meant to get my stances and the big thing for me so big and just be able to move people. But at the same time, also just being consistent and can't place any punch.

I mean, it's a full work in general and just like me, because I mean, if you're, I mean, if you're a big strong guy, then you can only do so much by when you don't have the right technique. So that's a big reason why I want to have a good, a lot of good school work, just to find that technique to be precise in everything. And that's kind of like what I'm looking for to improve. Appreciate it, man. I appreciate it. I appreciate it. It's just something that's inside of me. I always want to be better than I was the previous day. So. When you look at the speed in the room, what do you notice about that, especially, you wouldn't tell a lot of people? I mean, you can look out there on the field, man, and find around trying to make plays. And you know, for me, and I'm sure John as well, every time you're on the field, you just want to put that speed on tape. No matter if you're number one reading the play or the last reading play, you always want to put that speed on tape. And obviously, the quarterback's to see that, the coaches to see that, and hopefully

more opportunities come from that, just always going hard. There's talk around the NFL that they might want to ship the workouts to Lee Jr. would to live thinking about like injuries and prevention. Was that what some talked about how offseason's coach and players with that. What are your thoughts on that? Have you what do you consider? Yeah, to be honest, I haven't really quit much thought into it. I feel like now like I'm year six and a week. I kind of got to not kind of, but I have a pretty good routine. You know, how I scheduled my offseason in terms of dates and report dates and all that stuff like that. But shoot, they're willing to push it back. I'm not going to be mad because that kind of just gives us more time. Obviously with our families and kind of doing the same things, just working out like the first two weeks of OTA is kind of just working out and training and stuff like that. Which I mean, we're kind of doing already, you know what I mean? But then I see the side of it coming in when we do because we got a lot of new faces. I just sign a free agency and then obviously the draft. So I mean, it's not a bad thing that we come in when we do because guys get to kind of

be around each other and know each other and create that bond early on. Can you send me an injury history for yourself? Do you think that schedule should help in terms of injury recovery and streamwind after this season? I mean, yes and no. Speaking personally, I feel like a lot of my injuries have been things out of my control. I feel like I've had a lot of free injuries. You know, can prevent, I don't know. But I mean, more time off, more recovery. I mean, if you're doing it the right way, then it's definitely beneficial. Yeah, it's actually funny because I took a top 30 visit here and I remember my visit vividly coming in, just really loving the place, loving the staff, loving the people, especially just having conversations with how we've been in the building. It felt right to me and I remember going home after my top 30 visit, talking to my girlfriend

wife and now. But my mom was like, I really liked the Eagles and that was one of my teams going into the draft. I thought that I might be here. And I know that there's been talks that it almost happened or whatever. But in hindsight, things always work out how they're supposed to be. Now I'm here. So I don't know if that it was meant to be like that. Obviously it was, but now I'm here. So you've all been speaking install here. Do you feel that levels of playing field for you with your competition at all? So I think obviously with Kelly Meier here, at the end of the day for me, football is football. And obviously, like I say, being with the familiar face in Nick. So working with him and kind of like knowing what he's done in the past. And then obviously, Kelly Meier, a different dynamic. The good thing is like a lot of that stuff is similar to different terms and different names. So for me, it's been very easy to kind of just be in here and get an offensive understanding. So yeah, I think that's a credit. So another reason why I came here is just knowing Nick has some type of hand in the offense with Kelly.

So it definitely helps me. So that's a great question to jail hurts so far. What did you say at the end? It's impressive to jail in hurts so far. Yeah, so I remember when I first agreed to terms to come here. The first person I got a text with from Jaylen. And he was basically just saying excited to have you here. He said he kind of watched me from afar just knowing that I was a speedy guy, a good player, whatever. But that meant a lot to me for him to reach out during that time. And since I've been here, man, he's been nose down like this works hard. He's a great leader. Just kind of his presence is aura. It just speaks volumes of the player he is, the leader he is, the person he is, man. And he's grinding to get better each and every day. And when you're in the boot, I want to go like that. You just want to play for them and want to get better with them. So. We got to say something. I think some of you noticed that the way that they do things here is different than the other places you have said. Yes, I would say they are very, very, very detailed. Like Fernando and his team, they're like super, super detailed.

Like even today, like we got these little things where we kind of rate our soreness from the prior practice and things like that. And talking with the staff and nutritionists, just about plans and all that stuff, like they're very, very detailed. And I've been in places where it's been like that. But I think this is kind of a step up just how they're so intense with those things. And I think it's definitely been efficient to the players. You mentioned a couple of times as far as why you came here, even Kevin and Jason, but. Have an H a debauching that room as opposed to see where it's that. It's sort of a. Yeah, yeah, man, to be honest with you, like looking at looking at the room, looking at the situation, it's like. Like I'm blessed to be with two of the best servers in the game. And from the outside looking in, like the question is, oh, why would you go there? They already got these guys. And I'm like, man, I want to, I want to be around greatness. Like I want to be in there and be with these guys and work with these guys and learn from these guys. Obviously, me and AJ came in together, Devisee came in to your after.

And so I've known AJ prior because we trained together for the combine and all that stuff. But like to be in a room with those guys, like it's only room for opportunity to learn more. Like these are two of the best. And if you're in a room with that, like getting all the knowledge you can, like playing compete with those guys, like it's only going to make you better. So like I'm blessed to be in this opportunity, blessed to be in that room. Sure. Thank you. Thank you. You talked about the personal diversity. What kind of personal diversity? All feel stuff. Yeah. Have you seen Bayern Murphy kind of progress and getting back on the field? There's a lot of people here and what he can bring us here for you. I'm just saying, I'm seeing his game continue to grow. He caught a little hiccup with the injury. He's off for a couple of weeks. And I'm still seeing this progression. He's even just to learn. He knows where to be and he knows how he's just leveraged personally. He's a short guy and super strong.

So he has all the potential in the world to be great. What is about this spills offense makes them. Is dynamic as they are the challenges they present to you guys this weekend? It starts with their 6-5, 250 pound quarterback. For real, that's the one that gets the horse going. I mean, without them, I don't think they will be the team they are. And they know that. So right now he hasn't done any interceptions. So hopefully Russian coverage can work together so we can cause his first turn over the season. I know that he's been a guy in the past. That those lots of interceptions because he takes shots. And I know he's even at the ball as far as he can in front of our crowd. So you got to do a good job of plastering them. Statistically, the run defense was a lot better in the second half Sunday than the first half. Does anything really change there at all? Our aggression. Just to piggyback off that, we got to continue to be better. Personally for me, I don't like seeing the amount of yards on the board. Grand, we did win. But I don't want to be the hindsight guy and forget about the run game. I think an issue for us is an issue for me. We got to be better. I don't want to be one of the last teams in the league in the run game.

We're doing a good job. Are my assets right? The coaches are emphasizing it. And eventually he's going to get going. Obviously, you never want to have a teammate be treated the way I like Jerome. But with Ernst Jones coming in, he's highly talented. There's a pretty good run defense kind of linebacker. What does that do for your defensive room? Terrier, Terrier, my book. But it does it. I can't really speak on it because I don't really know Jones that well. I don't know his game. I've heard from others that I know that place with Rams. I said he was good, but as far as that, I don't know. Hopefully this move works out for the betterment. Obviously, we all want that too. But we'll see how it goes. I feel like a positive thing obviously when Johnson and your coach are working to get an impact player and your team when the NFC is kind of this wide open. It can be viewed as a positive or negative thing. It depends on what window you look through. What's that process like for you in terms of having to learn guys and their ten and season communicate with the new players that are coming in during the middle of the season?

It's a big process. It's definitely not easy to rework your roster in the middle of the season. They're going to do what they're going to do regardless. Obviously, I respect that. I'm forward. I believe in their system and what they want to do. But it's an adjustment for all of us to learn a new guy and kind of reestablish a new relationship and reestablish a new voice that you're going to hear and make it a cause in the middle of the field, especially because he's the quarterback of the defense. It's just something you've got to get adjusted to. Playing in a different way this season has that been any sort of an adjustment for you? It has been. Just getting comfortable with my body again and figuring out my strengths and weaknesses and how to make sure all my weaknesses are just completely strengths. So it's been a challenge in that aspect too. And I think I'm doing a good job out of so far. But in this past rush is going well. How much of it is guys playing off each other? I'm thinking of boys, sack force, formal gloves, two U collapse of pocket, and then he's able to get them. Yeah, you're all in. I would say last game was probably the best game, surprisingly, of us all working together as good as we did.

I think these past couple games prior before that game, it's been a lot of us just, we just went in and just happened to be like that. I feel like this Atlantic game was a good game of us communicating. The past game schemes, whether it's a game or just going to straight-worth a straight rush and just reading off each other. And we had to get better at that. It's only been a couple games. We have a lot more football to play to get better and get our relationship on that aspect. If you dropped in coverage as much as you thought you might have heard. About on par. I've dropped a good amount of time so far this year. I'm talking about doing it now. So, should you put me on whoever, not put me on tour with Kittle? No. Have you seen Derek Hall grow in the last season this year, being around him? I mean, he's the same type of player. And honestly, the only thing that's been different is mindset and it's applying to the field. And he has to continue. You and the Oregon Fowl State game? I was. Yeah. Jackson had a duck jersey on the week after. Did you have something that you had to do as well?

I had to do something that was a little more personal. But, I didn't make that bet. But, speaking of that, I don't know why we didn't run the ball in the last six sets of the game. Talk to them boys down the Columbus and tell them to run the damn ball next time and just get trust the kicker. But, it's a lot better. Did you get the penalty, the intentional penalty late in the game? I don't know if that was on purpose. I think Mike brought that up to me and asked me, do you think it's on purpose or they did by accident? I don't know. I think it was intentional. If it was intentional, it was a very serious move. I didn't, I wouldn't expect that. So, I was actually, you know, big brainplay by him. Did you think there should have been a second left? No. I don't want to be biased. No, we ran out of time. My boy, 18 was back there just too comfortable. But, he's going to learn. First game with Ray Robertson Harris. What were your impressions of him? It was like 6-8 and it was crazy. He's super, super strong. I've been watching him.

I've been seeing this game from afar for a while. I shouldn't have been watching it above. I've seen I saw him in Chicago. I saw him in Jacksonville. I just watched a lot of football and a lot of tapes. So, eventually, you guys just see guys. You pay attention to who they are. So, you know, it's been a unique process. I'm just bringing them in. And he's picked up a defense pretty well. Very powerful guy. Versus was well. I think it's going to add a lot of good plays to our defense here. Did you, very deep into the lineman, have arms that long? Sure. Can nobody touch your chest? Are you in the ball game? You don't want big, strong lineman grabbing you and trying to rough out you. Because they're already bigger than us in the first place, especially me. They like 6, 8, 3, 30. Whatever my way is. So, playing with extensions is very key for D-Londa. Any other thing that could be straight like? His game? Yeah. I love Cogiro. You know what I'm saying? He's a great offensive mind. I truly believe that. But the main thing is the main thing.

And it was prayer. The Lord led me here. Right? So, maybe the Lord led me here to be with G-Roh. But the reason I am here is because I prayed only so hard. This is where I was led to. But G-Roh does. He can, I do believe in him. And I do believe that he will put me in a reposition at all times. What do you think about Gus' personality? Like, suits you or personality? Why don't you guys work together to work together? I don't, that's a tough question. I really know his personality like that way. Like, that's a tough one. Like, how? Oh no, I don't know how each other is personality with each other. Do you guys, like, what's you? Do you guys hang out, like, feel like how well do you know him? How outside of football? I know pretty well outside of football because I mean we're together in Baltimore for years. But, but I, let's just put it this way.

He's a good friend of mine, off the field. And he's a good friend of mine on the field. So that was a tough one. I like that one. I like that one. I like that one. You're pretty outgoing. Is he the same or is he the same? What you think? What would you say about Gus? I would say it's difficult to be more outgoing than you. You think about going? Yeah, you come in and you smile. Is it a bad thing? No, not at all. You guys, you guys, you guys kind of seem opposite. You guys are good personalities. Like Gus seems very, like, you seem very bubbly and talkative. Or Gus seems very like, you know what I'm saying? I think it's what we're trying to kind of get at. Like, what? Like, how does this, how does this work? Are you? Oh, yeah. Opposite a track. Look, look. Hey, look.

Gus could be outgoing sometimes. He could be outgoing sometimes. But I mean, I mean, I just, I don't know. Maybe, God just gave me a gift of, you know, be a light, you know? Maybe, you know what I'm saying? Because even through like hard times, I'm still smiling though, you know? Because every day is a blessing, you know? And especially to do the job that I do is a blessing. Especially after all the stuff that I've been through on the field. I got no reason but to smile, right? What do you think? Still here on the 53 man roster after the stuff that I've been through on the field. But I hope they feel the same way. I hope it's not a bad thing. But look, let me tell you this though. When I'm losing, you will not see me smiling. There's only time, like one of the only time you'll see that. My first impression was to see the offensive line walking and seeing those holes open up and kind of imagining

how you could fit in with that scheme. You know, man, those guys are beast. You know what I'm saying? Like I said earlier, the camp, like, I got a little bit experienced under me. So like it's always chemistry. Like when you first get into camp, when you first put a whole line together and then you put the running backs with it, it takes chemistry. It's never going to be like, sometimes it is. You know, really it is. Like everybody's on the same track every time. You know? And the offense last year was nothing. I don't think it was anything like the offense we have this year, right? So you got, these guys are trying to get their chemistry together and me with them. You know, I'm trying to get chemistry with them and we're seeing it, make sure we're seeing it the same way. And now, like, what you're talking about, I think everybody's seeing it the same way. We have a chemistry, which is a beautiful thing in a C because it's going to keep getting better and better and better. And that's what you're going to be like, you're going to be like, DING!

This is different, you know? So, I think that's what it is. And I love seeing it. I love seeing it because all those guys are my guys. Even the years you were healthy, did you ever not play in a preseason before, like this, just getting up going into a week one? Yes. What was it, my third and fourth year? My third and fourth year. The one time I did play in a preseason, because my rookie year, I didn't play in a preseason. We had COVID. So, the one year that I did play in a preseason, we all know what happened. Nightmare. Nightmare, man, that was a nightmare. But, maybe a better man, you know? So, I appreciate that moment, too. I can look back on it now and be in smile about it because I made it through that storm. You know, you always got to make it through the storm. I ran into the storm, like, I think it was, I want to say, it's bulls compared to cows.

Like, cows run away from the storm. Bulls run to the storm to get through it faster. You know what I'm saying? Have you ever heard of this story? So, yeah, my name is El Toro. You know what I'm saying? So, if it's me, like, they made it in Baltimore and like, I'm running to the storm. Let's get this over with, because I know I'm gonna get through it, you know what I'm saying? So, I mean, whenever, because I didn't know that, I really didn't know that one set of cows, I guess you could say they run away from the storm and the bull runs to it. I didn't know that. Like, that's pretty cool to know. And then my name, so it happened to be from Baltimore and El Toro. So, I don't know man, some things I know, just stacking up. This guy named David Andre. He's a reporter, I think. Yeah, he's a reporter. He gave me that name because I started speaking in Spanish so good, you know? Yeah, but yeah. Yeah. You got to be a fan?

No, man. What? Look, look, look, look, look, I'm open look. Me and this nice looking young lady right here, we were talking about how we, like, just learning, I love to, you know, be learning people's cultures, you know, learn about people. I would love to learn about you. What makes you you, right? We can, I bet you we can get it out in 15 seconds. Where are you from? Here. You from here? Here. Mostly. Mostly, what's that mean? I was born in Milwaukee. When they're in her feet here. We can fill it out there. Take the boy out of fill it, but you can't take the fill out of the boy. Okay, so you look, look, look, look, are you learning? I already know. You, you a tough guy, but you got a soft spot in you because you've been living out here. Could be tough out here too. You've been on the 405, that's probably why, right? Yeah, but you got it.

You got it, man. You got it. Coach Harden, Coach Jordan, get better. All the older guys, helping me out. So I feel like, you have to get better. We've heard Coach Jordan make about quite a bit, obviously. Coach Hardline has been a bit different all this year. What kind of impact has he had for you and maybe some of the other guys who are just standing there? Well, Coach Hardline in the room, Coach Jordan stepped up, and he helped us out. Everything we did, he's a big help. And I just like, make sure we stand up and all that stuff. We were just talking about stepping into a bigger hole in the slide. How much do you watch and I like that every day? Try and take things, whether it's preparation, stuffy those on the field, and just learning from a guy like that. Yeah, every time I watch him, I want him. So I just, so I have to take some of this and get him and had it to mind. And I'm rising a lot just to take some of this. All the receivers. Yeah, they always help me out. And I need to go. Is what's in life walking into this room

specifically at the higher stage with all the history of and you already smile. I mean, you know what it means to be a part of this world? What's that? It's a big step. Definitely, it definitely holds a lot like a soldier. So you got to, you got to, you got to, you got to think quick. It's definitely a big dream for my team. It's definitely a big dream for my team. It's ever been a good job on, I'm blessed to be here. You won that? Yeah, I'm sure. That's why you come. That's why you come. Yeah. What kind of advice you've got from some of the workers that has already even before spring ball started to talk to the mega, some of those guys are just around. I try not to take everything personally, like, I'll say, when you're on time, when you're coming, when you're making comments, you're making that play. And I've been looking for it all day. I have a day of playing book because I sometimes go and get you to find out what and find out in this game. Yeah, I like that. Yeah, I like that. As you got right now, you was a guy right away last two years, to make a guess out of two people. How much is patient

for a choir? Obviously you've got to get off the field. But, how much is patient to import the power to receive the second stage. Everybody has to say about it. So some people always have a written term, but you just got to make a real name. Like I said, a real name in town. You just got to make that play. And it's going to go on from here. Awesome. Thank you. You like that? I heard it. Yeah. I mean, you know, I, you know, I, they say this up sometimes, I just try to keep going and not take it to my little biggest. I don't know how those governments say they're good, but I just, I know they're good. I know they're good. I know they're good. They're good. Yeah. I'm going to find those folks. You know, I think people are really good at this. You know, I think I know that people are really good at this. I think I know that people are really good. Yeah. I can't know how to say for anything that I love this place. I wanted that to be the point of my career here that the state has placed on well. I know,

I know. Yeah. You know. Yeah. Yeah. I'm not going to ask you other people. I know. You know, I know. Yeah, I've never heard that one, but I mean, I think I'm definitely the new agent of God for the ball. It's more money instead of, you know, the term royalty I guess, but I love everything about our state. I love my A, you know, and that's one thing about our team, like we all ride for a minute. No matter what, so many people make it and paint that guy. I want to be stable with that. And I feel so many good, like long lasting friendships with these guys. I've been to all these teams who, so I didn't change what I was doing. We're creating. Yeah, I mean, I always treated that as if I was. I'd prepare like I was, you know, I was an interesting guy, really me.

And I knew that my time would come, and I'd be ready to take my take what's happening around. So I'm just happy that I would be able to do that and still try to put it out here to be able to. Worst and most important work is being come for a weekend since the first four or so, and it's amazing. Where is the flagger level right now in this and the company of the friends that are going to come to us? I mean, we're a good team. I think our country is going to work for preparation. You know, we practice hard and we want to make sure we get everything in there. We're going to have a really last look and a little detail we can. And I think Coach Gouge is a really good job of that. And I think we need to continue to do that because everything that happened last week doesn't matter if you don't do this week. And our goal is to do better than we did last week and to a control game when we get like this. You've got to seem to really go ahead and find what you really can create. Everyone's trying to be a Mexican and make what's up like out there. And you put caught with it.

Yeah, I mean, I think it's the biggest thing football is not to be a fun sport. You know, when you're at the go out there and make plays and have fun, you really be brothers with each other. So, you know, the only time you really make plays when you're having a fun, you know, having fun, you're not making plays. So, you really have those hands in hand. And we're just out there trying to have fun. We got here and we were skiing and telling around and can change that. But did you see what you saw? Yeah, actually, we'll say that if he gets to play at noon, he can complete 80% of his passes. So, I think the controversy is over. So, you get a noon kickoff, he'll complete 80. So, I think we can all, I know a lot of people have problems with what we're doing. But if it means a quarterback can complete 80% of his passes, we'll take it. So, you think when you watched him before you got to know him here, did you see a 74% pass? No, I just watched Highlights of Will when I got here. He was already here, so I wasn't recruiting him. It was just, you know, I got everybody that was on offense. They put together a hit tape for everybody at every position.

You know, I got a chance to kind of buzz that. And then, you know, a week later, we were on the field. But I think with everything, his knowledge of the game continues to expand. And the more he understands and has a real good feel for what we're doing. You know, Will has a lot of input in terms of what we do, game plan wise. What do you like? What don't you like? What do you feel comfortable with? And as we get to know Will better and he gets to know us better, I think you're starting to see that kind of really mesh together. Are you sure he's surprised you? No, because I've seen it in practice. You know, the other thing that Will can do, he does two things really well. Number one, he can see because he's so big, he stands in the pocket really, really well. And he's tough. You know, and I think that's one such an underrated quality for any quarterback. You know, the ability to stand in the pocket while people are literally trying to take your head off. You know, and not worry about the rush, but always keep your eyes focused down field. Looking for receivers trying to get open at certain times. Or if it's an off schedule play, trying to keep off schedule plays alive. But I think that's part of Will's nature that I think is toughness,

is the ability to see the whole field while he's in the pocket. Are two big things in terms of his accuracy? All right, I'm very WBNH. Coach, this is kind of uncharted waters with the new playoffs system and everything from an offensive standpoint. How much of the offense is in? And are you holding things back because there's some pooch, I mean, how do you manage all that? Yeah, I don't think we hold anything back. I think our offense is always game plan specific in terms of who we're playing. And how do we attack what they do? Each defense you face is somewhat unique. You know, and so you can say, hey, this team's a little bit like this team, but not totally like that team. So I think it's not, hey, this is a really good play. Let's not run it because we're going to need it down the road. You know, you have to win every game. And I don't think you can take that approach of let's save this for another game because you don't know how games are going to express themselves during the course of the game itself. So everything we do is just game plan specific,

especially now that we've gotten into a conference play. Pretty much in. Yeah, I mean, we could add stuff that I think we may have done in the spring, but we haven't used yet just because we haven't faced that defense yet. Thanks for the whole work. How did it all? Chip, in 2022, your UCLA offensive line was a semi-finals for the Joe Boroword. Today, just offensive line was maybe semi-finals for that. Do you see similarities for the way that that unit was playing in the way that Justin has your guys playing right now? Do I make me think back? I think they're different. I don't really upset it before. I'm not into comparing one group to another group. I didn't know that that's pretty cool for those guys. That's a prestigious award. You know, those guys usually go unnoticed. You know, that's the nature of the position if you're an offensive lineman. They, you know, they're either close or too valuable hardware. They don't really get a lot of attention. They're not the guys that are out in the limelight, let's some of these other guys. But they work their tails off. You know, I think that's the, the gist of any team that's going to be a really good football team.

It has to be strong on both lines and that's the fact that they've been recognized for that. That's something that's, that's pretty cool. But now we got to live up, we got to live up to that standard every day. So, you guys don't know how to stop those award test coaches, but to see the, the way that those guys have responded since losing Josh, that's a play-core and the leader of the offensive. How do you, that I waited that, what do you think of being in the way that's playing without you? I've been really impressed. And I think really Donny and Seth have really stepped up in, in that leadership part. You know, and I think the two of those guys have really kind of led from the front to tough, hard-knosed physical players. Obviously, Donny being selfish and moving from left-guard to left tackle was a really big deal for us. And he continues to work at his craft every day because, you know, I think everybody just thinks all line. But, you know, all five of those positions are really different. And it's not easy to go from one position to another position. And the fact that Donny's done that has been great. And I think Seth really, because he calls all of our identifications and directs what our blocking schemes will be,

you know, is really kind of fell into that leadership role force. And I think our guys are rallying behind those two. All right, Dave Holmes, WSYF. Ryan talked a little bit about his upbringing at Fenway Park in the store at baseball. And he's going to get your thoughts on playing a game in WSYF. Yeah, I think it's cool. You know, I've not seen, I've seen just highlights of a football game in there. And I've been to a game at WSYF when I was out recruiting once. But the fact that you can play in settings like that is pretty cool. And I think it makes it unique, you know, obviously. They're refurbishing their stadiums. So, you know, they got to be on the, they got to either build the one that they did on campus or go to WSYF. So the fact that we get to be the one team that plays in WSYF, I think it would be pretty cool. And I think our players won't enjoy that. Awesome. One of the podcasts, I know every game plan every week is different. Contention on the opponent. But it's felt like the last couple of game plans have leaned a little bit more on Will's over Russian threat. What's motivating that decision? The defense is that the people deploy, you know, sometimes they always have an extra guy in the box. And if you run the quarterback, then that evens numbers back out.

It's as simple as that. You know, some teams don't do that. So, you know, it's just sometimes when you get, especially when you get in a conference play, I think there's a lot of people in this league that know how to stop the run. So, you know, you got to be able to have a mobile quarterback and it helps the Will has that mobility. Bill Landis, team to the North. Should you, do you ever interrate off the play or change something up kind of just for the sake of doing it to break a tendency or put something different on stone? Or is it always opponent specific? No, it's always opponent specific, but you still self-scout yourself. And what are we doing out of this formation and what is our run pass ratio? And even within that, within out of this formation all runs are this. And then that's always the fine line. Well, we should do something different. Well, what we're doing is working. Why would we do something different? You know, so you kind of play that game and go back and forth with it. But we're constantly working on self-scout of ourselves and tendencies that we're trying to just understand. But sometimes these are good tendencies.

You know, you could be, hey, you're 90% run out of this formation. You're also 90% success out of this formation. So, you know, do you not call that ever again because you think that they think that you think this. You know, you can get into that real dilemma of just, you know, it's still about executing and still about lighting up and playing. So, but we do spend a lot of time on that. That's part of what our weekly game plan meetings are about. We need more emphasis on that in a college football season that can now be 17, 18 games where you want to make sure you're sprinkling in different things so that if you could game 17 and a team has a pretty expansive book on you guys, he'll wise that they can't, you know, key in on something you've done all year. You want to make sure you have those changes. Yeah, there has to be some of those. But again, I think you can drive yourself crazy when we put this on tape and they think that we can do this because they know that we can do that. And we do that. And I didn't make any sense what I just said. And that's what's going on in your head when you're starting to think about all that stuff too. So, it's that process. You know, I still think you have to part of being really good at it is what are we good at?

And how do we continue to be good at it so that everybody in the stadium doesn't know, hey, they're running the ball over the right side on this play because that's what they always do. You know, I think you're still trying to mass some of those things, but you still have to play to your strengths. Can you give me a few breaths? Yeah, what? You should kind of ask a question about what's running. I think you're going to be the last to get a couple of weeks ago, you mentioned you don't have to be nice to talk about it to be power all the time. But how have you seen Will's progression in understanding or reading what he does his want? And to do it, if I'm sitting hanging off to Q or Dre, pulling more, is that more from you guys? Do you want to pull this or something more? No, no, it's a good question. We don't tell him we want you to do this or want you to do that. It's totally a lot of that stuff is if it's a read play, he has to read it out and how he sees it. Just like we don't tell him where to throw, you know, the play is called to the Curl or the flat, but it depends, there's a defender defend the Curl or defend the flat. Like you can't tell him before the play, throw the Curl because I know the guy's going to chase the flat.

Well, then he sits in the Curl and you throw a pick and it's coach told me to go there. No, we told you to read this player. So it's the same thing with some of the read plays that we run. And I think he does a really good job. He was really well trained. I think Chris climate does a great job and Colin climate did a great job at case date. So Will's got a really, really good understanding of our running game. You know, it was more of just learning the terminology here as opposed to what it was like there. But I think he does a really, really good job of that. And when we put something in new, it may be new to this unit, but it's not new to Will. It's just, oh, yeah, we run this and then we'll go back and actually look at case date, tape with him and kind of pick his brain. How do you read and how is it presented to you and what's the best way for us to present it so that we can execute. You're like often, from this bad. What do you see as the advantage from from huddling more and just sort of playing the slower pace of playing offense versus past couple of years. You can have tea every one more place, prevent it from you are now facing a little slower. What's the advantage of that?

Yeah, I think you can communicate better. You know, so obviously the thing that's changed this season and I think a lot of people have slowed down. Is the ability for the quarterback to communicate with everybody before the play. You know, before it was just everything was driven by signals and everybody was looking to the sideline and then getting everybody on the same page. So there's there's some teams. And sometimes when that's to your advantage, you know, I think more people do it to us because they don't want to mow in our hands. So that I think the game has, we don't get as many possessions right now as we have in the past. Just because I think both sides are doing it a little bit more. But I think the communication thing that you're allowed to talk to the quarterback up to 15 seconds on the play clock is one of the advantages of huddling. You're turning into a big guy that also does that. Does it keep you in mind to do the other team? It gives us an advantage again from being able to communicate. So what will can talk to the offensive line about, you know, remain like normally you'd send a play and but he couldn't give them like, hey, these guys are 85% twist and boundary corner on this place.

So make sure that we're really high alert for that. So there's a lot more that goes on. It's not a two way conversation because he can't talk back to you. You know, we have a style of speaking in that situation so that we can communicate some different things before it was. You just called the play and broke now you can give him a lot more information. There may be a player got injured the play before. Hey, there's a new left corner in the number 15. We talked about him. We saw him on film. This is what he's susceptible to. Let's make sure we're attacking him when you know he's in. Instead of you waited till you get to the sideline between series and go, hey, there's a new corner and I didn't know he was in. But you can communicate that stuff now. Give me. Let him be around. Oh, thanks Jerry. Hold up on that a little bit or just on. Up into plays. Do you ever have times in games where you have to say to yourself, I got to be disciplined here. I got to call some run plays. I know it sounds kind of stupid, but I mean to have the balance when you look at this lineup with Jeremiah and Mecca and. Carnell and you know, you could throw them all 50 times a game and nobody would question that either.

You're still on the same. Does it take discipline to also stay with the run game? I think it takes discipline to know what the defense is trying to take away from you. So, you know, for you to try to continue to throw it if they're going to play high safety and light boxes. You know, you should be running it more than, you know, and when people are loading up the box, take away your run and saying, hey, we're not going to let you run the ball in the situation and you are still trying to run the ball in the situation. That's, that's what I think the discipline is. So, sometimes it's not consecutive plays in a row or series. It's just kind of what are they like? Because you take, say you're playing Northwest, you have nine game breakdown in Northwestern. This is what they've done for their last nine games. What, as you go into the really first, second, third series of a game, is what we saw in the last nine games actually happening in this game. And if it is, then we're pretty solid in terms of our game plan. If not, then you may have to morph a little bit towards run or a little bit towards pass based upon how they decided they were going to come out this week. Because they may have come out in the previous nine weeks and done this, but in your game, they're doing it a little bit differently.

So, it's the ability to make those adjustments and kind of lean one way or the other. You know, I think it's the discipline part you're talking about. Not just saying, well, we're just going to chuck it, you know, but if they're playing really deep and you're still trying to throw it deep, then that's not smart either. I don't mean to start throwing deep every time. Okay. You just want us to throw it over there? Yeah, yeah. That's fine. My loss of winning doubt aired out. But follow up. You're not a what he has guy then, huh? Yeah, well, come on. You can't go both ways. I've never been out of what I'm a Texas. Okay. See, you're not a bear brunt guy. Yeah. Yeah. We've gone by that layer. When you walk into a place like Wrigley Field, you seem to have a feel for history and stuff. And Gail Sayers ran there, you know, Dick Buck is playing there. Yeah. Most people don't take that they're all playing soldier field and stuff. Do you think about that kind of where you are? I will Friday because we're actually going to get to the stadium and get a chance to kind of look around and see what it looks like. But is that end of the? Yeah. Do it too.

It always does. I mean, I love whenever we were wherever I've been when you get a chance to go playing some of these iconic stadiums and players that you saw when you were growing up and play here. That's always a really cool part about what we get to do. But yeah, that'll be it'll be fun. I think everybody's excited about playing this game. Great. Go. Thank you very much. All right. Thanks, guys. Okay. So whenever there's no energy, hit on Brandon bringing more energy. What do you thought of Brian R.Line kind of running the song? It's in the way he's still managed working with the receiver for him. I'm happy for him. He finally got the keys. Finally, no bearded. Probably told us to ball more. And what else? Now, how do you see Jeremiah pushing himself to keep getting better after a year or an hour last year? I'm just probably to be more consistent. I mean, there's a lot of things he could probably... He thinks he can improve himself and probably make it the harder catches or probably just blocking or like footwork, like little things like that. Do you guys see that? Just in practice here? Improvements with maybe we're not seeing, but you guys see behind the scenes. We see it. We definitely see the improvement. We see him when he first came here until now.

He's improved a lot. He's only getting better. We said that he's become one of the people. He also said a lot of that. He's a big one. He's a Mecca. Now we handle that. What about what a Mecca did for you guys as a leader making a smile? You were like developing that for me. Mecca talked to each and every one of us. He had a relationship, a connection with each and every one of us. We were able to come down Mecca as a man before a player in the teammate. He had a lot of us to do that and open up our eyes. How's that going for you? I was going good. I'm able to talk to more players. I'm connected with other guys that I've never talked to before or hanging around other groups that I've never hanged around. I'm also talking to the younger guys, helping them make sure they're good. Improvement probably just being more vocal. That's me coming out of my comfort zone. I'm usually just a lead by example guys. So being more vocal for the guys around me, being heard more. What did they tell you about that?

It was always something that I could work on myself. And then they also just told me, there's no leadership in the room now with a Mecca going there. There's really no leadership on the team outside of what probably was sunny. And the guys that play, so they said when you talk to people who listen, so we need that from you guys. What's it been like going up against these corners and practice just how talented is that group? It's been really well. They're all really good. So you once on your loose, every day we're competing to get better. Who's the best trash talker of the corners and who's the best trash talker of the receivers? Corners is probably IGB, receiver, Brandon. Brandon, I was already going to ask this already, but how have you seen Brandon in this step up this spring? Brandon is more and more vocal. He's obviously has a bigger role this year. He's becoming more vocal. So I love that for him. Is that a different physically with him? He looks like a fast guy. Brandon slipped down. We think it's a jersey number going from 11 to 1. He's slipped down and got faster. That's a like wall watcher. Mine? Up? Just probably you see the ball more often this year.

Yeah. Look at that for some sense. I mean, it's only one ball. It's like we got probably like six offensive guys. You got to get the ball to two right of backs. They're good receivers. Time ends according back to like it's only one ball. Maybe you're impressed with the offensive ball. Of course, he's a great guy. He's very determined. Like he's probably one of the hardest workouts I've seen around. What's the biggest differences between chip y'all and what happened? Chip Coach Kelly was more laid back. He really, I mean, he was in our position. Coach, we didn't really hear him talk to him. He probably just talked to the quarterback. But Coach, you can hear him on the field yelling and screaming. It was the life that you thought about that chip was leaving and then that went like a few hours. I was happy for Chip. I probably didn't say I didn't think he'd probably go stay for too long. It's hard to turn down a job like that. Opportunities like that. So I'm happy for him. I'm also very happy for Coach Arlon who's waiting his time here and continue to be here.

Stay here for the ropes. I just learned Ryan DeValegian's guys. He wasn't there keeping it within the end of the building. Jeremiah said, you're asking for more of an open for two. That's not his path to doing all of the season. He's definitely been talking more and more. He's getting more comfortable with it. Like guys like him when he talks to people, listen and watch what he does. Two more questions. Yeah. Oh, it's very special. Being back home time. I was on plan back there since high school. So a lot to me being in Chicago and also getting up from my family. It's probably like 3040. Yeah. It was a blessing for me definitely. I'm never, now I've never been a baseball guy. That was my first time at Riggler. It was great. Riggler is a very short fill.

I'm not sure if he was in the middle of the game. I'm not sure if he was in the middle of the game. Yeah. Last year was one of those years where he really didn't care about maybe his status and his field law and what he needs to do. He's supposed to have been like now to see him step up as a waiter and kind of fill in and pick him in the middle of the world. My mom, Brandon's always got his hand high. He always knew he had the way his opportunities, his chance. And the opportunity to come in. When he did get on the field, he made plays and took the, he's happy, he's in a great mental. He knows that he has a big role this year. He knows we're expecting a lot from him. So I'm happy for him. He's happy for himself and I just can't wait for him to go show it. Can you play all the roles in the play? I don't know. That's the culture player. Yeah. I'm kind of just not trying to look, still look up to Jack and JT and kind of have my own kind of leadership and be able to bring people into. So I feel like I kind of have a lot of leaders on the B line and I'm a position so we kind of all kind of just count off the children.

It's definitely tough for me to be able to open up to these guys playing with them all. You know, the field and the top players in the field are all trying to play. It's going to be like, come on, you need to play with these guys. How does that transition take place? It's competitive. We love it. We all competitive people. We all love to fish each other. And I feel like the bringing the best out of all of this. I feel like we all just kind of bouncing off each other and seeing what one person does. And we kind of brittle into our actual box and we all kind of just kind of build one great thing. You ever were a last year and you got to get the shot at full back in the corner. And the day of coach you, that idea and you coached them, I mean, how did that come about? Because you already did a JXR or a Kloppie. You're good to touch that. So I definitely did it in high school. I was full back and a little bit of Titan. So I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there in Coach Wilson. Honestly, he left watching it too, before he left. And I feel like he planned that seed in Coach Day's head and Coach Day kind of just went for it and tried to do the best I could to do it. Is that continuing now?

Did anything in the screen? New playbook, I did not know yet. I've got that far. Yeah, good day. How tough was that for you? You're looking back and forth. I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field. You need me to just give me a weaker two to learn it and kind of perfect it and try to do my best for you. Kit Jack, you're the same thing. Oh yeah. Graphically, that's what... Kit is talking to Coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations and sort of sought you and got out to have some conversations after JT and Jack decided to come back. Just got to win into those from your perspective and how did that help you maybe get the right mindset against many of these things? Definitely kind of seeing it all the way through. I feel like people kind of just see what happened and they don't know everything that goes into it. How long the season is now. What you got to do to prepare for and what happened and all that time from here to there. So I feel like we definitely just coached in me kind of connected and maybe kind of just talks man-to-man and he kind of just said it straight to me

and I feel like we kind of both have been on the same team. We know we're making it yada. Making each other better every day. We got the four best DNs, five best DNs, honestly, in the college football. And we're going to be one of the best DLines in college football. How do you feel about your player today at any more game this year? Well, I feel like I've taken big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more of a leader and kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team and kind of bring people in and I feel like I'm kind of helping out more. How do you record head around the past to see the TKFC? Is it sound? I mean, it sounds bizarre, but I mean, the season goes by so fast already. So when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like wow, it's already week 10. So now it's kind of gives you more time to kind of enjoy it and kind of savor it because you've come already here for a really fresh, fresh, fresh, fresh, fresh, crazy. But you don't want to spend all your powder for the first month of the year, right? I mean, there is a, that pace yourself that, but I mean, there is a mindset that I didn't know the season. Yeah, definitely. Definitely going to have to have the mental stability

to handle all those weeks and all those practices. How much has Larry talked to you guys about like that? Last question right here. 2016, 2017, four NFL defense awards all in the same rotation. So, no, just, no, what's he, does he talk to that guy? I mean, he doesn't have to talk about it. We know about it. You've seen it every day. We watch the film. You see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know we could become. So we know we're right at the same, we're at the right place at the right time. And God wanted us to be here and he knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together and be able to bounce off and just perfect our craft together. And I feel like we all are just great individuals and we come together at something special. You, you Caleb and Nathan, grown through, especially the last half of the season, you know, especially way they've been using you, you know, and that almost saved you whole stuff. How much is it grown that you can put your finger on? Yeah, I was growing immensely. I mean, Caleb, he makes a lot of checks. Nathan makes a lot of checks. I listen to them. Whatever they need, if I need to cover somebody, I'll go cover anybody. If they need me to do run support, I'll do run support.

And it's really what Caleb does, what we do and Nathan. It just goes back to Coach G's preparation and everyone's preparation to give us more flexibility and doesn't matter who's in those positions. And we can all play every position whether it's covering somebody or running and tackling. Did you feel like that was the case before the Oregon game? You're saying what I'm saying? I mean, is it something that's been added? It just, you know, rely on a little bit more. Go ahead. Yeah, it did. It's probably been a Braske game, Megan and more safety reps. And we had a five week to prepare. So I really learned to play book a lot more. Even though I knew the playbook, I learned a lot more. Mount like in debt, you know, so really just after the Oregon game, it helped me a lot to go back to safety. Go to NICU everywhere. Nathan, what do you guys have had a lot of issues of giving up big plays in the passing game of the first game against Oregon? What do you feel you guys need to do better this time around to make sure that doesn't happen? Just the same mindset. We got to challenge these receivers.

You know, every dog has their day. Maybe some people didn't have their day that game, but we'll look out there and hopefully change the narrative. And we still play with the same confidence, same technique and, you know. Bill, Rebellion, what's the problem with this patch? And Denzel obviously had a tough game and that one. What have you seen from him and how he's responded? Do you get a sense of from him? How he's for this rematch? Oh, yeah, he's super stoked for this rematch. His preparation has been very good. He's always been preparing, you know, it didn't go the way he wanted to go that game. But he just always had his confidence. And we're going to see a big game out of him this week. And, you know, I know you guys wanted to play them in anapolis. But the fact that you get to play them at the Rose Bowl, I mean, get a second chance. And people have said, you don't get that very often. How determined are you guys to take advantage of it? We're super, super determined. We watch film. I mean, we've lost a lot of film. The first time we played them, now we've got another six games that they played up film to watch.

And it's just, they've grown a lot as a team. Same as us. We've grown a lot. We're not the same team. We were when we played them week one or weeks, six or whatever. But now we're out there and going to play fast, physical, and everything like that. All right, Jordan, we're going to jump to the Zoom question here from Joey Kaufman. Columbus Dispatch. My bad, not too Joey. Cameron T. Robinson, the athletic. Hey, Jordan, you've moved around a lot in the second day in your career. And now kind of getting some many more safety reps. What is it like at this point when when Walt or Coach Mills comes to you and asks you to do some else. And just how much can you lean on the experiences you've had and moving around when you're trying to learn something new in the middle of season? Means a lot. We always talk about this is being on selfish. Whether that's making plays or not making plays or doing your job so another person can make plays. That's kind of what we pride ourselves on. And it's just fun. Me moving around different positions.

As I'm always up for a new challenge and a lot of people in the country can't do that. I just hold myself to that standard where I can play any position and excel at it. Okay, if anybody else needs a question, let me know. But otherwise we're going to go to Austin more of the podcast. Jordan, when you were talking about watching film, Oregon, which one do you think is more valuable to you watching that against yourself? Seven games ago, even a few changed or the ensuing six games for Oregon, which one do you put more stock in? Kind of both. For me, I kind of watch what I did. Things I did well. Things I didn't do too well against them. And their team is that life, their scheme has changed. Some players have been out those those stretch of games. So I really watched the past game we played and I know they're going to go back to some of the stuff that they liked, of course. And different games like Penn State, maybe Illinois, they run a lot of men. So just watching, watching stuff like that every game matters. So yeah.

Jordan, thank you very much. Thank you. Me and Lil are very vocal, even in practice a lot of times. Just things they go my way in the game, but even in practice a lot. Yeah, take care. I was very comfortable with Lil. More vocal guy. But working in that offer put it back to me. I'm going to do a better job. Just go into the receivers and taking our feedback. Not for criticism, but just because we love it. Just doing that and just keep growing on that all the way to fall and all the different things that just takes you. You are doing some more outside for you. Yeah, I've been more the more years you get under your belt for more experience and get you start knowing this offense more and more. Not just your position or what you're doing or like everybody's what you're doing. So I mean, yeah, I've been I've been wrapping the outside ZXH anywhere. Coach, I'm using me to just really be that guy and go make a play on it. What's the biggest difference for you between outside and outside? The pace. A route concept. You can kind of get the pace you can play within the slides more for next game in the slide.

Something I got very comfortable with. Just the ways you can attack the defense, I think. Just you know, conceptually and also just you're placed out. But I mean, just doing both and just making me a better guy for the NFL. And that's what Coach Hancock produces on the NFL talent and producing NFL guys. I'm feeling very comfortable with that. Do you have to have a different mindset as a slide receiver? That's what's going on. Absolutely. I think it's more thinking. I think it's more of a yet to understand another game a lot. In the slide, you've got to have a feel. It's just natural. I feel like it's more natural conditioning. And on the outside, it's just more, you know, get different things and see different congregations. You see different player types of corners and nickel bats and safeties more in the slide. So just seeing how you can attack knowing a person now and how you can attack some people. That's how I say the biggest difference. Do you have that more courage? You have that more courage in the slide? Oh, yeah, absolutely. Especially like being myself in the slide faster.

I'm a skinnier guy that want to put hands on and want to get physical with you. But you just got to match that and just let them know that you there too. You was in a balanced question, whatever gets you on to, regardless inside outside. I'm just willing to make plays and show one one of the best receivers in America. So if that's on the outside, that's on the inside. Whatever Coach Hancock on in this team needs me. I'll post a link and show them one of the best receivers in America. Thank you, sir. We're really deep. I would say I'm not sure, but I know that we are from Towers New York to Massacluse. I know we don't know anything. We got to keep the screen. I would say we wanted to do that in the screen, but now we are in the ball. I don't know where that happened. I know that I'm in the mentality. If we're bringing Max along, I'm trying to keep the screen from running off the wall and not with Medicaid.

He's picked that up and he's done really, really well. So I hit the whole unit in the hour and we're tough and that's very, very cool. I'm taking them out. Yeah. Well, I would say that as you do, I would say that I'm a sidebar in the team. And you can see the minus scrimmage. If you're pushing the guy, pass the last scrimmage, it's a plus. If you're going back, come up the ball and hit the guy. And I would say I'm telling Max and other guys, I'm a teller. Without him, you're off the ball and there's a lightning. I'm running through the sky with him. If I miss my missful state, you know, we're not on my way with that. I'm on my way with that. So we need to create our own momentum and it turns out we're at the end of the month. And that's how it has to be. But go ahead and hit the guy. I'm going to try to find the right number and think about it. But I'm going to try to get the number you want to know.

I think you're going to try it out. So that was like a chance in the last round. You know what, you're going to have to pay. I would say, I mean, you watched all the slides about the ball. It's been really, really good. It's just Kelly. I was in the plane. And we've seen some huge slides there. So this would be really physical downhill team. I'm excited for the red. I don't know. I'd be very sure. I know that's the kind of way I'm going to play on my back. I don't know what it is. I just hear that when you don't start playing like you. And then there's a couple of that later. Yeah. Yeah. So last year I was a non-travel. So I would come in and three hours was going to be walking. I would set up a guy's back for a little walker. And I would set up a slide of my jersey on the walker. And so I can't say it did. But I have learned, like I've said before, I've learned it. But like, man, when I have to be like set up like you guys,

it's like you really, you don't take it for granted. And I think that that game makes a great experience. No, in this life, I'm really happy that you take it for your life. I'm really happy. You can learn it. I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. But that's also. I know. Yeah. I know. I know. You're like, no. I know. I know. You know. You know, I know. You know, like, no. You know, like, no. What about 40,000 on the money? A little boldest coverage. I, uh, I promise I'll have a little hard work with this book, but I think I will be best rise in the past, right? Uh, I'll write it around to you and I'll be sure to do that. You know, I'm really focused on the money to cut in the other ones off, so... Thank you very much. Yeah, because the book really helped me out.

I really think I have some days, some days I have trouble, but I just came to film then on film in the past. Can you play in Lackaw right here? Yeah, I'm gonna be there. Yeah, yeah. Are you gonna have to go find me? Are you filming? Uh, I was at, I've been in Brote. You have a trouble, too. I'll be in Tappish, too. Uh, maybe I don't know, but can't really name me out there. You bet. You say you have your line of budget I'd say, and you obviously said you won't ask me for a few years of money water, and now you're in the sort of end of the log that the big issue is, I mean, you feel like you're still trying to carve out a goal or is you'll evolve just offensively. Um, I think my goal is to aim when I get going find some kind of place for play, wherever it's left right inside of, so I feel like I'm going to find a place for me to play. And I'm just trying to get better as a player and as a human. Can you say, Tappish, strong, what makes that more fun than you do? Um, it's not a little bit too like, um, it's not faster than I thought.

I feel like that, um, yeah, usually you can see what's going on. I like being out of the higher. Yeah, yeah. You just talked to Donovan at all, whether it be during last season or this hot season, just about kind of what, what was it for him to be able to kind of move around and do different things? Yeah, he's been back here to the pretzels and then, uh, I will talk to him about some stuff. I think it's really been helping me like, like, pre snap with the VN, how like, the shorters turn, like what the expected for the past, when he runs around. And I'm grateful for that. He, uh, and going through it and helping me go through it. What did you did to hurt him? Uh, I mean, just how it was raised. I just know how to work. That's all I had to do. Um, uh, just giving effort and just going the state of it. I want to say this with full respect. When we see JJ and Sonny, it's like, that makes sense. When you're the third guy, were you surprised to be named? What, what puts you in that same category?

Yeah, I was a little surprised. I kind of have feeling because I, it kind of like, I mean, I kind of, I could have guessed it. But like, I just, I just knew like, um, I was one of my goals at the top soon to be on a bug guy. And I just couldn't work there. So what did you get in house? What did it mean? How did you take it? Um, it was really special right after a text no parents. And, um, they really knew what it meant until like the video came out and the question explained it to us. So then, uh, that's what it's in the first place. Back then, when I was playing football, back then, right, bar and games, did you just tell the difficulties of going back and forth? Not just like when you were learning them, they actually had to play both of those five. Um, yeah, it's pretty difficult, uh, especially during the game, you have to put the whole mind around. It's a lot easier in practice because it's like seven down, but like, going back to my game. It's pretty hard, but like, like in high school, like I was, it was every other player I was in back foot with the triple option.

So like, I knew, I knew it, um, uh, it was comfortable with it. And sometimes I just take it, but I'm walking to go around to my screen and just had like, uh, say it to be the same player again. Yeah, I mean, more times again. Bring in two packages, and then you can bring in a set of kind of regular ones. And then you can bring it up and set them by tax. And then you can try to keep that up. Yeah, so like, I got to set the example, um, and then like, my first two weeks here, I was like teaching them, like, like, tell them what they're expecting these players, because I've seen some new places with them. And even new defense, so like, like technique two, because I'm keeping the same technique. But um, just helping them out, because we need a lot of this. What do you like, when did the idea of playing Backko kind of come about? Good, It's about like, rap or something else. So going to going and playing, what do you think you wouldn't have had it back? Everybody's coming about. It came close to Springtime. We just want to have a good fight out there, and like, they won't play the best,

so they just won't get to the chance. What do you like to do? I'll touch the hot spot. There are awesome, there are a lot of, a lot of eyes, and it's awesome, because everyone's watching some of this. It's not like someone's only watching this place, so you know what's going on. I got a feedback to get like after a play, after a practice, from all three off the world. It's awesome. They tell you like everything, because they know like what's the last I had with coach Johnson and coach Dickie's watching 11 and coach him. But when it feels a lot to me, so like you know what's going on, it's great. How has the experience that you got at the big reps in the big games, all that helped you coming into the side? It really boosts my confidence, and like, and I can like lead the young guys to, because I know it's going on, because they really don't really, this is first time spring, so like they're doing my stuff, like just that leadership. Resortility has also been mentioned a lot, it's been all both sides with all, playing in different spots, you know, I rate on that. Yeah, this, yeah.

Congratulations. Before this draft, Denzel Ward was asked about what buck eyes he wanted to have on the team. And your name was brought up, and he said there would be a great addition for you to come on this team and join him on this roster, and him to have said that about you before you were picked. What does that mean to you? I mean, you know, two, two or higher guys growing up here, you know, three or higher is the great feeling. You know, we're real familiar with the area, and you know, to stay here our whole career, I mean, from top-oriented to high school, middle school to college, so I'll have to say, you know, Denzel still staying home at the top of the peak of the level, so it's just great. Hey, Michael, we know you ended up at Streetsboro, but I understand you started Benedict. And could you, where were you born and how did you end up in Streetsboro? I'm so born in Garford Heights originally, and I live there just about my title, I can then, when I got to age, was it 15? That was like at the end of Benedicta, and then my mom promised me,

I bought a Streetsboro, that was a, it was a better pay, so she decided, you know, it was better for us to move out there, and Benedicta was going to be our hour drive every day to get to school, so it just wasn't beneficial to her. So my last three years of high school out there, Streetsboro, my sophomore year senior year. Hey, Michael, Tom, where there's some of the AP, we saw it on TV just a little while ago, that you became a dad during the season last year. What's fatherhood been like for you? How's that changed you? Yeah, I've been a best, it's been a great addition to my life for sure. You know, teaching me a lot of patience, you know, just, being a big role model for my, my health, I have a little interest. I mean, it's just the best feeling, for him to even be around this or witness in this, even all the videos, and you know, just getting something good to look back on like, you know, saying, my dad did something real hard for himself. Hey, Mike, Chris Eastman, Reneak, and Beacon Journal. You've talked about playing, you know, coming, you know, stayed in the same area,

and you know, playing in your backyard. Do you feel like, you know, that puts, I don't want to say, poor, puts pressure, but, the opportunity to sort of be, you know, be a role model, be, you'll be someone that, hey, look, like you say, I came from here, I can look where I can go. How much do you sort of take that, you know, take that mindset, take, you know, you'll take that responsibility on. So I, I mean, I'm not one of those guys who's going to run away from the pressure. I mean, I went to it, a little ahead on. So, you know, it's going to be a lot of pressure on me playing in my hometown. You know, a lot of people are going to have to buy a good patient, but you're not the end of the day as a player. I still have to manage, you know, that I have to be an excitation. So I'm going to hold myself very, you know, high on that, hold myself accountable. And just got to be the best way that I can be a control of the trouble. Michael, I'm sure you watched the, the success that Dauwond Jones had here last year as a rookie. How excited are you to join Dauwond and, and maybe kind of follow in his footsteps in,

in getting off to a great start as a rookie? Oh, yeah, that's my dog, you know, Dauwond. He just called me right before this. I mean, just we were talking about this the whole time, you know, even on my portal. In my, my 30 days as a, you know, there's a saying like, man, if you get here, it's, you know, it's over there. Like, you know, the best duo like, and all of that, you know, off his defense wise, and we bring a lot of juicin practice, even at our high on stage. So I know it's going to be, you know, 10 times more at the, you know, next level, but really blessed to be able to play it from my brother, I play with my brother for life. Hey, Mike, I guess your teammates started calling you baby Aaron Donald pretty early on. Is that true? And I guess what did that mean to hear that from them? I mean, I feel like that's a, you know, that's a great, you know, that's a great experience for sure. You know, a lot of, a lot of people can't just be compared to that. So, you know, like, I mean, it just shows, you know, how, how my teammates are. Far about me, but, you know, just really appreciative of them. It just be around the black eyes, you know, that's top of the top best of the best, you know, in the country.

Hey, Michael Ashley Pastak from Cleveland dot com again. I think we ask every D line men who gets drafted here about the opportunity to play with Miles Garrett. Just how much does that excite you knowing the season he's coming off of and how excited are you to get a chance to pick his brain every day? Oh, yeah, no doubt me from day one, I'm definitely going to be, you know, whatever he does. And he just real, you know, where I was like, you know, how does he get his body right? What did you do? What did you do? And after practice just, you know, those guys, those that, you know, they're not fit for no reason. They're not in the league, you know, playing multiple years back to back having these great seasons. You know, it's just, it's just a great honor to be around somebody like that. And you know, it's just going to be like I got to come in and put my heart on from day one until you know, whenever I leave. Michael, how much interaction did you have with Jim Schwartz in this whole process? See the pro day or your visit here? Yeah, it was just really just my visit here.

Yeah, Coach Worsh was just, you know, a man goes, Jack, we're all on the, it's all throughout that. We're, we're, hey, we're all on the, but they were just, you know, surrounded by me throughout the whole of day. So, you know, just building a great relationship from the, from the beginning. We came, Jay, we came back to, and Michael, I know obviously the Ohio State guys. There's a bunch of guys that went back this, this next year where you tempted it all to, to go back and try to chase the championship with those guys. Like how close did you actually come to that before you decided to go to the NFL? I kind of made my decision before I to see you and start it. I was pretty sure on that, you know, especially when I had my son late in the late need. I was late in the late in the year that, that's solidified it. You know, it wasn't like I was tempted to go back. I mean, for sure, I mean, I feel like, you know, it's still, it's still unfinished business, but, you know, my car has to do with what was right from my family. And it was just, it was just better for that, you know, in that way. I got to, I can't think about it as just a media personal, you know, saying preference.

I got to think about it as, you know, as a whole. Darius, Darren Urban from AZCarnels.com. I know that a lot of players these days aren't sticking in one school for a long time. You did it for five years. I mean, you even Marvin did it for three. Like what, what, what behind that? And why wasn't meaningful for you to stand one school? Yes, I'm a Zura, you know, we had some tough seasons, but we were really built with a edge. Energy details, grit, and emotional consistency. And I just find myself just trying to grow and get better each year. And also as a team, you know, win more games each year. And that was my, that was my home, that was my family. I was blessed to, you know, get two degrees as well off the field. And I just love Mizzou. Two degrees. Wow. Marvin, Bob McManamon Arizona Republic. Congratulations. Thank you to both of you. You're known as all business. And I want to know how that's going to serve you well in this league from personal standpoint.

Your brand, everything you do, or a daily preparation. There's a lot that goes into being all business. Tell me what that is to you. Yeah, I mean, yes, just being a pro. It's kind of raised and grew up to do. And keep your same mindset, same attitude that I've had throughout my whole career. Once I get here, continue to work hard, be consistent, disciplined, you know, and all that I do. So I'm looking forward to putting in the work. Hey, Marvin, Josh Wayne, trust ESPN. What were the best pieces of advice your dad gave you about being an NFL player? I mean, yeah, it takes a lot of work, a lot of preparation. No, from Monday to Saturday. It's all working. And then Sunday should be the easy part. I go out there, have fun, write for the work. And so, I'm going to start with the work first. And then once Sunday comes, it's reap benefits. Hey, Darryus, Howard Balls are from CardsWire. I can't help but notice that ring on your fingers. Is that a cotton bowl ring? Yes, it is the cotton bowl ring. It's a short... So you showed it to Marvin very quickly?

No, I just saw it to Marvin. I was telling Marvin, you know, he was glad he did play. I mean, the whole week leading up, you know, you see how I stayed. Everybody said, okay, Marvin Harrison. And then he was like, is he going to play? Is he going to play? He didn't play. So, you know, we lucked out. Hey, Marvin, Paul Kelvici, Cardinals broadcasting. Do you believe that receivers have to earn the trust of their quarterback? And if so, what does that usually require? Absolutely. You got to earn the trust of the quarterback. And they can start, you know, every day in practice. And being consistent, really. You can't just do it one day. You can't just do it for one week. Has to, you know, done over and over and over again. I think that's how trust has earned. So, no matter where you get picked, whether you're a first receiver, it's around seven. Doesn't really matter how to go in there. And trust of the quarterback. Your coach is, your teammates. So it all starts in practice. What's going on, guys? Good to see you again, Tyler Drake. There's no sports. This one's for Darius. What's the feeling of just being able to represent your school as that first round pick? And what kind of impact can that have for those guys falling in your footsteps?

Yes, awesome. I feel like I'm setting the standard going for it. But that's named wasoo, known as D-Line Zoo. So I'm just added to the family. But now, I feel like I'm setting the standard for my younger teammates. That this is attainable if you work really hard, be consistent. And really get the trust of your coach. I feel like every program has been out to strength coach. And I'd develop all the habits, or not, and off the field. Darius Zacher, Smenesi, Carnels.com right over here. JG mentioned that he loves the violence that you play with. You mentioned the different tendencies that you picked up. The emotional consistency is the grit. How do you balance that? The violence with discipline on the field. I also just do preparation and practice. I'm a big guy, I'm a big believer in inside hands. So that's why I'm always working my hand placement. And then I live weight, so that's all connected. So I'm just trying to be focused on my technique as much as possible. Hey, Marvin, over here. David Brant, with the Associated Press. You know, a lot of rookies come into the league,

and they get a little bit of leeway. It's like, oh, he's young, he needs to grow and stuff like that. But obviously you're going to be expected to be the guy here really quickly. How do you deal with that pressure? How do you go about just so much being expected of you so quickly? I mean, yeah, I've high standards for myself. But I'm just going to go in there and try to work. You know, the best I can. I just want to help the team win really, so. Whether that role I play, you know, come September, let me do my best, you know, do that role. Now, this one's for both of you guys. The fans want to know who you guys are on the inside. I don't know how much you're willing to reveal to us today. A lot would be nice. Can you tell us what you like to do away from football? What pieces you are about things and, you know, what makes you roll? I'm pretty simple, I like to, you know, be in my apartment. Watch the movie. If I go out and I go to a restaurant, get some food. But I wouldn't not only do too much. And then I'm pretty easy going guys, so I'll try not to let nothing bother me too much.

I say the same thing, a real chill guy. Just really obsessed with football. But outside of football, like I said, I got my two degrees. I got my undergrad, hospitality management, and a minor in business. I got my master's in a positive culture with emphasis, affiliate leadership. So just thinking about being well rounded. And then I do philanthropy work. I start my own nonprofit foundation. Derrius Robinson helped me hands foundation. But really just football and then everything else, honestly. Congratulations guys. Welcome to the Valley and Robbie Baker with Fox 10. Derrius, this is for you. After the draft last night, you had a great response about how you're processing, preparing for a game. Just kind of wondering where your love for kind of the grind comes from and your love for that process comes from. I would say my junior year, because I play literally ball often on, but I got my junior year, and I was playing high school. And my whole goal was just to earn a scholarship. But during that process, I really fell in love with the game, fell in love with working out, relationships with teammates. And now I was kind of like my vice, and I can't let it go.

And just kind of finding ways to always get better, you know. Luke, with here with 12 sports, congrats both of you. Welcome to the Valley. This one's for you, Marvin. I'm curious, your thoughts, or what was that conversation like with your dad after your name was called, and you were able to be drafted by this organization, and how surreal is it for you to be following on your own father's footsteps, but in your own way? Yeah, I mean, it was very brief. Actually, just in the second, congratulations, I walk up to the stage, and then I had to do a bunch of interviews at the word. So I don't think I've hit both of us yet, and what's happened. I think one of my goals always made him proud, so I hope I did that. Marvin, Bobrock, PHNX Sports. When do you anticipate catching your first passes from Kyla Murray? I don't know. I don't know, I guess we'll see. Hopefully as soon as possible. Darry, as you mentioned, philanthropy. And I know there's been, it's been talked about how you took some of the NIL and I L money to do a get back to school for the kids in Columbia. Where did that belief in doing those things come from?

I say my family, my brother, my mom, really instilled that into me, and to me, at a young age, just give back your blessings to others. And my fifth year at Mizzou was the best year of my life, so why would I not share my blessings with others? So that's what really motivated me to do that, and now I've been in NFL. You know, my goals are due to three events each year. Just give back, because you know it's life outside of football and bigger blessings out there. Marvin, you obviously played with a number of highly drafted receivers at Ohio State. What sort of feedback have you gotten about the NFL from them, and about making the transition and the league itself? Yeah, it's a long season. I think going from the 12 game record season, you have in college to, was it 17 games now, and you have three preseason. I think actually just the biggest challenge. The game's easy thing. Obviously, never all skilled and very talented athletes, so the mental part is probably the biggest thing, and the biggest change from college to pros. Marvin, what's your timeline for hiring an agent right over here on the way part right? You haven't hired an agent.

Why is that? Is there a timeline to hiring one, and are you going to sign the NFL P.A. Licensing Agreement? I'll continue talking to my team. We do what's best for me. I'm moving forward. We just take it one day at a time. I just got drafted, so I'm trying to enjoy the moment and be happy while I can. Got the moment. Hey, Marvin. I'll say Romero, Arizona Republic. Welcome, man. Can you just kind of share a little bit about, you touch on it briefly here, but just a little bit more about growing up with your dad, and you know, the experiences you had in Indianapolis and games and so on and so forth? Yeah, I mean, there's no better role model coach mentor that you can have as someone who's played the game, and then he's actually a father too. So he means a lot to me. He's helping get to the point I'm at right now, and she's been very detailed and everything I've done growing up with playing football. So we're thankful for him. I've got that he can be here with me today. Luke, looking again here with 12 sports. This is for Daria Starris. M-I-Z. Zero, yeah, sir. I'm a moderate as well. Curious, what do you think you learn the most from your time at M-Z. That has helped you be ready for this moment?

I said the biggest thing is not how you start is how you finish. You know, I have to feel like me being drafted. That was the exclamation point on my career at M-Z. But now I got started all over again and really earned respect on my teammates and coaches and then earned a role within our organization. But that's what I'll say. Marvin over here. What's it like being another buck guy out here in the desert having Paris in the front row and getting to reunite with your guy out here? It's awesome, man. I think this is kind of like two years in the making with Paris and kind of had his conversation going back to even before he got drafted in the car. And I just get a chance to play with him again and hopefully my scorch and touch down so he raises me up. And his arms like he used to do in college. So I'm super excited to play with him. I mean, not only is he going to be great teammate but a great friend of half as well. Or the tapes speaks for itself. But what would you say is the most underrated part of your game? I think just my competitiveness. I mean, I mean, I show it. I'm not much of an emotional guy on the field, but I'm very competitive.

I think that's probably a very underrated part of my game. Thanks. And like he's really starting to mold into that role and really step into it. Is that been an adjustment? Obviously, it's obviously that your brother, but also that somebody leading football team has that been an adjustment kind of separating those two things? I mean, not really because like we always been on a team in our whole life and I've seen him being those leadership roles prior to this. I mean, he was stepping into it already last year, but we got eight guys in the defense leaves. And now he has to really just elevate that. Yeah, not really. I've been seeing him. I knew he was going to mold in this for a while now. What makes sense? I think he just knows how to talk to different players. Different players require different approaches. Some players you can rip them a little bit. Some guys you might need to pull them to the side. Some guys might need like they have some off the field things that like he just can give some insights. It just depends on the guy. Just being able to relate to each individual player and see them as a person connect.

I hope that helps build trust with him as a leader. Lorenzo, I was watching an interview with Nathan Ransom recently. He called you the most confident guy in the world. What do you think he meant by that? When I came here, I was seventh on the depth tour. I was nowhere and where I needed to be at. But I always knew you got to have that confidence to be able to play DB here at a high level. I think it's just going to show. I'm excited to go out here and ball this year. So you got to be a little delusional. You got to be a little delusional coming into such a competitive place. I came here playing receiver. I want to show my boy lay that really well. I wasn't delusional. So I'm going to put it all together this year. But I always just been a guy who's still talking trash. Even when I might not have it all together yet, just still trying to get better every day. As you worked your way up the depth tour, you were doing a lot on special teams. The coaches have been making that a priority with a lot of younger guys. What would your message be to some of those younger guys that are trying to find their way on special teams? It's not a free play like that down. It's critical. Like has a direct effect on winning and losing games.

You see if we miss field goals or if we are our punt games, not right. We're not hitting 40 plus yards things like that has direct correlation on winning and losing football games. And really at the next level, I have some guys who've been there and we have a week like Nate Ebner. He played 10 years and he was a special teams guy. So just especially for me being a guy in my role in my situation, I think the other guys who look at it as a tour to do the same thing at least and even get an opportunity to come field. Do you want to still do or be a part of the kick return unit as the return? Yeah, I'm trying to get back there and return some kicks for sure. But that's also me building the trust back there for allowing me to do it. I want to be on all four units. I know like playing nickel at the next level. You see guys you got to be on special teams. And I hold a little string, stay in one go play. So just being a set there will be is critical to up in the team in the street. How much of a couple of years now? I mean, I've been getting comfortable. I feel comfortable playing for a while now. I'm being honest with you guys and trying to be good football players.

But to me, it wasn't really really about that. It's continuing to get on the rise. I feel like my skillsets are getting better, my games are getting better. And as long as I'm playing football, I still want to keep getting better. Give me your impressions of your main matches. Jermaine's a ball player. He's an energy, he's an energy giver. He's one of those guys who gets the team excited. He's talking a lot of trash. He has a full cell, he has everything like that. But I think he's starting to really, I've been with him since he first came in. So I've been seeing him mature, growing to more of a leadership role. And really just he's continuing. He's a guy on the rise to getting better every single day. He's a talented football player. He's a talented football player. Yeah, I think I think you have the chance to have a great year this year. I really made a food we think of this spring. The first half of this spring is culture. I want to give a shout to Mike. I'm a league harvard. But it's I don't really think it was just a spring like in the offseason. The winter offseason. He was going real hard. We have this thing we read our champion and he holds himself to a high standard.

And he did that. And then it's just translating the field. I've been that's who I've been watching a lot of my film with. I've been seeing my clients in the field and you getting better every day. Yes, because we see you see a late the grants of late. We look step into that spot here. Yeah, that's the evolution of football. I'm going to say this is a high of state too. So I mean, I know that's late. There was a great player. Don't don't get me wrong, but they're kicking the ball off. In a high of state and their standards, the standards. So we got to have players make place. Who do you like? It's making you know, people back whatever who's making some strides in that room. I was a lot of art. Okay. You just joined the competition. But how would you describe it? Oh, yeah. I mean, we have a lot of guys were position flexibilities. A big thing here. So we put a bunch of different guys in that position. So I think Bryce West has been playing well. And I think Miles is coming along too. But I think the biggest thing for all of us is just really getting them to understand the defense, getting them to know what they're doing. And they all have the skill set. So really as that mental part develops that this was already there. So just put it all together and they have the chance to be really good players here.

When you got like theiva Sanchez, Walter, a five star. One of the top players in the country. Is there an initiation process with players anymore? I could make a smart like Mark. I'm just doing what I do there. But is there, do they see a guy like grow up and try to harass? Yeah, I mean, the stars are like, yeah, like it might show like the skills that you have or like the God given abilities. But I want to say about Devon is just the type of person he is. He's a real good guy. I think his ego is not crazy. Like he's a real little humble guy. And then he's trying to get better every single day. The stars and all that really don't matter. There's not really initiation process. You come here, your freshman. You got your black stripe on. You got to earn your way. And I think that's a getting a teammates trust and getting the trust in your coaches. How do you see him just like in terms of like competitiveness? Like putting himself so hard as first spring? Oh, yeah, he's competitive. But if I'm being honest, I don't really want to.

I mean, he has the high piece of five star and all that. But like Ohio State, like the standard to standard. So like everyone in our room is a hell to the standard. And I think he's getting there meeting that standard. Like he's getting better every single day. He has to continually get better. But the traits that you want and the thing about effort going hard, being a competitor, all those things that are not the technique, not the football part. He has that there. And I think when everything else comes along, it's going to be a great player as well. How is that standard helped you personally going into your third year now? Kind of your development over the last couple of years. I mean, yeah, I was challenged. I mean, it's either you, their sink or swim. I had guys in front of me. I had to make a choice. Like, do I want to continue to get better every single day or just be complacent? I could just sit here and be like, okay, like this is my situation or try to find a way. So I mean, that's it. I made away on the field. That was my goal. I had to go hard. I had to do certain things. I had to go on special teams. And those things I want doing before necessarily in my freshman year playing on those special teams are, I don't know, trying to learn Nickelback. I came here to play corner. I'm out here playing Nickelback. So it's sink or sink or swim. So I think I did that.

And now it's the time just to take it to another level and continue to do it. You mentioned the confidence earlier and said, you have to be a little bit devotional. But is it important to have that confidence either before maybe you have everything figured out or had any position or evidence? I mean, clearly, I would never play it if I didn't. I would never play it if I didn't. I came here to play corner. We have a bunch of guys here at corner. Now I'm trying to get at Nickel. We have a dude starting at Nickel. I want to play. I have to get it on the third down package. I have to go do this on special teams. I haven't done something especially well. I'm going to play it on the third down package. I don't have a special team. I haven't done something on special teams. So you got to be a little delusional. You got to be a little delusional. All right, Lorenzo. Thank you. Thanks, man. It's a high up players. And some pretty, a pretty player man in the ledger. Nathan, I'm sure you're asked this about a zillion times. I'm asking you, a zillion and one. Just you personally. Does it feel like this, everything is kind of, I mean, this is just obviously the ultimate payoff and reward. But just for you personally going through some of the trials and tribulations you have here at a high state, What does this mean for you? I mean without sounding too stupid by asking that kind of question

Did you ever get to a point where you just thought I don't know if I can keep doing this or did that ever cross your mind? Never did never I love football. I love football man Yeah, I love football. I think God that he allows me to play this game every day and What was it like after the game and You know there was talk that you guys all had a meeting things got supposedly heated is there any truth? To that as far as like the players and the coaches you guys talk with Ryan Day and just I mean just kind of had a hashing out like hey Let's come let's come full circle on this whole thing and this and and What happens behind closed doors stays behind closed doors, but Whatever happened that me to help us with a national championship So I want to change something to the world and there you go, right? So I mean, would you say in a stupid way Not that you guys obviously wanted to lose the game, but if you hadn't do you think you would? You'd be sitting here where you're at. I don't know. I don't think about what is I think about that How would how that ring to fill my hand?

Austin Ward podcast Cody was that the first helmet you've ever cracked? I think so I mean I didn't even know at the time it was it was crack I wish I brought my feet more in that play, but That was pretty cool. I mean, I've never seen that happen before so Did you did you guys have any sense after it was such a physical hit? It was also a key tackle the off the field. They like Did you think that that sent any message both for the rest of you guys on the defensive side or to Tennessee about what that game was going to be like? Yeah, I mean, we knew how important stops were in that game and you know more so than the hit just to be able to get off the field I think that was the huge part for us because we know if they can drive the drive the ball and create big plays It'd be tough to tough on one day for us on defense. So Yeah, I would just I'm happy that we got those stops that we needed to get and that was one of them and you know All those stops really propelled us to have a good game on defense Bill Raminowicz, Columbus, this batch What changed the most after the order game and the reengineering of the defense?

It was it mindset was a Schematic thing. What what changed the most? I'd say The most prominent changes really this the attitude and that that mindset I mean we knew we played good before that and we'd we'd done a lot of things but you know You know sometimes you need a little a little like juice and a little and a little bit of that so Obviously stuff has changed Scheme has changed stuff is like attitude has changed But I think we have that mentality that we have to like we have to be able to win games no matter what on defense and to be able to do that I mean I mean we say it all the time in our meetings like it doesn't matter what the offense does We should be out there go out there and be able to win a game So I think we brought back that mentality and it's just got has to keep going You know, you can't just stop at Tennessee. That's a keep going organ You played so well before that and then that kind of came out of nowhere Well, how about you? Reload awakening was that how much they make you realize okay? We're not there yet. I know we had that was a rough two weeks for us after that game We had to like really We had a lot of tough conversations. We had a lot of overhaul and just you know really looking in words at ourselves and what do we have to change and

Yeah, I think what we've done so far has been pretty well and we have to keep keep that going because it doesn't matter It's really what you've done lately. So if you do that for this next week I mean I give a lot of credit to to Taneco as a quarterback. I mean he he did this thing moving around the pocket. It's not easy like trying to oh You said JT as a linebacker or for me how would you I mean some tough plays I mean that's football though sometimes you know guys get you guys whatever happens, but You know he always keeps coming. That's the best part about JT Like he'll never stop playing as hard as possible. So we're I'm just I'm happy he kept going and he made a lot more plays after that So it's very different Talking about just your what's the main difference Which we have to tackle those two types of players

What I've noticed is I mean when quarterbacks are scrambling and they're particularly like good scramble threats They they use that ball fake a lot more and it's no matter what even if they're past the line It's still threatening like it's just the mentality like the Playing defense you're always worried about them throwing the ball so they can they have a little bit more wiggle Where's running backs? You know there's a certain amount of Duke moves that they could use or whatever moves they use so I mean I think a lot of the things that we do is just trying to just Treat quarterbacks you scramble like running backs, you know just try to stay down because you know your presence affects it no matter what So if you're jumping for throws you're probably going to be wrong Cover what is your interaction been like with Caleb and Lathen especially from standpoint of feedback You know maybe between plays maybe on the sidelines after series and stuff as it Is it grown as the season has gone and what do those guys especially bring to the table in that regard?

I mean They've always been really good really great problem solvers to have this entire year You know our communications is strong in the team drives and everything I think They do a wonderful job both of them just you know diagnosing what's going on and then you know if we need to fix They're always on top of this stuff our coaches are great at that too. They they make sure that any little issue is being taken care of and We communicate with within the positions, but you know they really get that stuff and one of the thing with you I'm just be honest. I thought from like the Late in the fourth quarter on against Nebraska and then since then you seem to have been a different player Maybe I'm wrong. I mean I don't know if there was an epiphany there or whatever But can you can you describe your your drive or whatever from you know that was a close game It was you know, I think surprised a lot of people you understand what I'm saying But you seem to be a you're personally seem to be a more driven Different player am I wrong about that? Well, I mean I don't I feel like I've been taken

You know the meetings to the field to practice everything. I want to say I've been consistent and You know, I'm just being able to be in position to make more plays and you know I'm thankful for that, but I mean we're just really is really just me Well, we're just trying to be consistent and you know doing what day in day out not taking any day for granted and not doing anything that I wouldn't do if I wasn't playing well We look at it as we have an opportunity look at it as they're really good offense But it's capable of exposing flaws to the other teams I think it's it's a little bit of both. I mean we we definitely did not play to our standard no matter what I mean That's that's number one But they also they also played a good game and you know We're both a good team. That's why we're in the Rose Bowl next playing against each other so

You know, it's gonna be on us to build execute and do our job to the best of our ability and You know, uh That's what we're doing. That's what we're spending all this time practicing for like we're doing walk through is everything because You know, we need to when we get to that moment we got to do it right and It didn't get done last game. So for whatever reason we'll get those fix and we'll Make the changes and just say and go out there and get a win Yeah, I feel like a chef He's definitely made a big impact on how I play the game now I feel like I look at the I look at like first and second down different because I feel like he's gave me a lot of Information on how he sees the defenses way how they move and stuff like that. So I feel like Seth has become like a really good factor I'm like game and high and fruit I feel like you know Seth when Seth came in I knew Seth was a really good player at Bama He's played in those big games. So you know just learning and everything he's done and how he like takes the next step

I like how he gives his features is something I took took note Josh you guys obviously have quite a turning you please pair up into your line you How do you see just the chemistry of you guys? Yeah, I feel like everything and just like binding together I play we're all just playing really good next to each other on everything's been going really well Do you feel just you know physically stronger when you're messing with the interior? Definitely I feel like it's a really big thing really it's something I've noticed over the years is That's I've improved on is definitely my strength and coach makes definitely got us going so I feel like just over like these past summer just getting strong as I can and then like you just see it over and over and over He's like can stay in those reps those those big time reps. You can just like staying Yeah, I feel like Seth you know what what he's done how he controls the offense he makes the ID gets everything going make sure it gets off and set

You know it was felt so real. I mean something I like you dream of as a kid You know as a kid you grow from Ohio you always dream about playing for Ohio state, you know, it's just great that I'm able to be here and Play in a national championship Oh, yeah, I feel like definitely my mentality still is something like wrestling's definitely developed my mentality and my Now I feel like I go out there. I try and like basically Just Royceau airtime and anyone I go against I feel like I'm trying to show him Yeah coach Bill on coach Bill on his death a great person. He definitely gets us going is a really good offensive line coach Good I'd say it feels like a dream But at the same time I think You just take it day by day You can't look forward to the game. You have to have a good Tuesday practice have a good Wednesday practice have a good Thursday practice

and and Just make sure that those days are complete to where you can build up to that game and see how you're gonna do in the game I think it's more just mental Just seeing what the defense is what their scheme is and then also Just making sure that you have the right technique for those defenders and stuff like that Yeah, you'd say everything I mean we hit on a daily basis all the time so You could have knee pain ankle pain You could have headaches you have shoulder pains you have hands wrist thumb anything

But I think it just shows that we're willing to do whatever to play One-in-ass championship one-in-ass championship that's that's what's driving me More than ever because it's it's a memory that'll last a lifetime if you go and do it Here I think it's paid off Plans for a national championship if you were to tell me that when I was 10 years old being a starting right tackle to house state I would say I'd say some cuss words at you and then and tell you to go away Not that much, but yeah, it's Indiana so yeah

I don't know I guess you could say I'm gonna doubt I Just I don't look at myself more than I'm just looking inside that huddle during the offense when we're when we're calling a play and I'm like I got to I got to do it for these guys put so much in form Yeah, no another name didn't recruit me when when I was going out through high school But I don't have any ill will against that They didn't didn't think I was a good enough football player, so No, I don't think that's any motivation. I don't I don't look at it like that Maybe that they recruited different guys and in classes, but I don't look at it as any of will Yeah, I think I think it's good I think it's just shows it's like an NFL style season. I mean it's

It's crazy to think what we were and we was at 16 or 17 and It's just I think it prepares you for the next level More than ever because it's it's basically I wouldn't say it's NFL But the playoffs and all that stuff. It's it's kind of coming together as the NFL Sleep Sleep going in the train room spend hours in there Then go in the film room with ice pack on or Stam or something like that and start watching film I think it's like a 20 24 7 thing that you always got to keep your body right To make sure that you're ready to perform at the level you want to perform That day was an oh shit for me. It was

It was just to see where he went from the winter time to being the guy who wouldn't talk anything and being All-American rimming to winter. Yeah, it was it was a it was a dark point and In this season for us as a line, but I had confidence in Carson right away I mean I he played 12 games and he did find I thought he did find those 12 games So I had complete nutter confidence in Carson Yeah, I think it just shows that Centers guards tackle they just need time time to I mean you're not gonna do Amazing your first season unless you're I don't know Michael Jordan or something like that but it's it shows that it's just a development and And I mean are like are slogans developed here. I mean just to see him come from last season to this season It's it's completely different

Yeah, I coach fries a great offense line coach He knows what right what technique to use on every single play. He Buses ask for us even though people Give him hate all the time. I don't understand. I don't see why He's a he's a great human being He just wants the best for us and I think that's what you see at him every single day is he's trying to push us to be the best for ourselves Yeah, I think they've done an unbelievable job and It just shows the selflessness the selflessness of all three of those guys because Tegris starting for the season awesome was left guard and then Luke jumps in there But those guys haven't complained one bit of oh, I want to get more playing time or something like that They they've been selfless and it's amazing to see

Yeah, I knew I was coming back so that there was no No recruiting for me. I was kind of on the outside of that because it was only my first year playing or first year starting But I just remember Just a fire and jack's eyes you see because Ohio native Ohio State guy Literally the buck guy I call him and it's it's just a fire in his eyes of Hey, we can do this we can go to a national championship and play for it We just have to have everybody come back and it was it was awesome see Yeah, obviously it looks easier than it probably is It's a lot of pressure and the difference between a good hold and a bad hold is one inch And then no turning the laces hopefully I don't do that too much. John's pretty good with these laces So I'm just about finding the spot and getting the tilt right so I don't like to think I do a pretty good job You can do it as Jayden

But yeah, it's sort of a very refined skill Uh the States of maybe just just under two years There's a lot of a lot of cold for different suspos, but um, we're very exposed in Australia to American culture So sort of you were to what to expect a little bit We get all your TV shows with sport you know sports centers there. He's been over there So it wasn't too bad And I've been lucky that I should travel over America a bit before I moved here So it's sort of new to expect What are some of the bigger cultural ways here? Just the way people speak to each other like joking around with each other Um, it's trying to be pretty dry sometimes and Even though I go home and see my mate. So I say something that sort of Doesn't seem like a joke but it is Um, so you're gonna get used to that a little bit Yeah, it's yeah, the biggest ones I suppose It's a little more a little bit more sarcasm than Australia's saying Yeah a little bit more sarcasm And the way we speak to each other is as well like the words we use for different things Um, I mean, I just need to have the last time like I was talking about gardening with Ronald

mates and we'll talk about using a whipers in the box which is a weed wacker And like just little things like that and you guys have no idea what I'm saying Um, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly But yeah, this is like a bunch of little words I'd say that you know I think in order that I don't realize that he's actually Australian I have to go back on it Yeah, the guys are starting to learn I hear that Yeah One of the big things we it's selective for the one So you can't just sort of walk in you have to try out Um, but most of the guys go up hanging Australian football which the primary way to pass the ball is by punting it essentially It's a little bit different Um, but then we have a whole bunch of coaches that actually played a totally football And the Nathan Chapman played a few games at Green Bay So he knows what to expect he knows how to kick on he still goes out and boots on his old age 45 or something Um, no he so it's so yeah, and then they sort of they teach exactly what to expect that they don't give you any

False hope really they say you're gonna go there. This exactly what it's gonna be like So it's sort of like a one two three year simulation of what it's gonna be like over here So guys are ready to go when they come to culture It depends depends how perfect you are how um a lot of it's your mindset as well So um, it's it's very it's you know, it's a unique offseason We might get two weeks two weeks break and then we're into winter and then spring and then summer and then fall in the season. So Yeah, two culture questions one. Have you ever had a Vegemite sandwich? Yeah, yeah, and and two I heard no real Australian with drink faster spear I've had my first forces in Nashville about two months ago and It's right. Yeah, it's fine I won't be rushing back to it, but it's it's easy And and and Vegemite. I love Vegemite. It's awesome. Yeah, I I miss it a lot I actually brought it over to jarlos from last summer's in Australia So yeah, I love my Vegemite sandwiches. Have you tried to share it with anybody? I've never been there. I tried. Yeah, I mean Nick doesn't mind it. Um, I tried without one of our kikas kasi magya He's pretty upset when he tasted it

Um, yeah, it's some pretty good reactions out of the guys, but um, yeah, if you if you do you know four to one ratio with butter on some toast It's pretty nice This is the biggest similarity To be honest the foods the food seem like I mean we we're very multi-cultural country. It's in America Um, I suppose we probably have more Asian influence whereas America has more latinian influence That's probably the biggest food difference part. I mean, yeah, we have a whole bunch of Italian I'm from in Melbourne has one of the biggest great populations outside of Greece. I think it's the biggest outside of Greece Yeah, I mean You could guy that you'd be you'd be in the city city or hot It's not that guy just every now and then you sort of look up in the obvious part of there or something Sometimes I mean there's a lot of daddy long legs you know these little ones with the big legs But like you'll lean sick so they're not sat around in the corners, but um, it's not too bad Joe, we got class. Thank you very much

Well Yeah, that's different you know, I mean You look at the last three games that we faced um Really the offenses or different to what uh, Notre Dame does well So we have to make that adjustment Because they'll be uh, they'll be hard to handle Right so coach we're just talking with JTT and how disciplined the Ed brushes have to be knowing that Yeah, I mean you say you know past rush lanes or everything and You know Caging him because he He is exceptional at making those plays but um You know, you also can execute a pat

past rush Unless you execute a past rush move, you know, so it's like you can't get a hit unless you swing the bat So it's really going to be a constant balance and knowing that he can make those plays everybody has to be aware of it Kind of about team of your Well, we always talk about limiting explosive plays you know um Guys know that they know that um We talk about uh, you know all the standard things that defenses do But um, I think it's I think the expectation is important, you know

That uh from the jump you know, I talked to them about chasing perfection even though it's not possible, you know that We have the talent to do that and we have to expect Um that from ourselves that we're going to be as close to perfect as we can You Yeah, and I think um, you have veterans and guys who've been in the system and You spend a lot of time together and You know, they they start to understand how I think Which is really important, you know, when you know What the guy the guy who's calling the defenses Why he's calling it and how it works and you know because every call has strengths, but every call every defense

Has weaknesses um, so they just start to understand that the longer were longer were around each other Yeah, I mean you Yeah, I mean you You can um Tweet things week to week in the game plan and uh, they pick it up seamlessly, you know where At other times you have to be uh Careful but when you have a veteran group that understands the system that works well You know You Yeah, it's been a constant uh

pursuit of of perfection, you know, I want I And up to me to put them in the right call get them in the right places and Well, when they make good plays that's on them, you know, and they know when they If something goes wrong, it's on me. So I think it's that continually You know investing in them and trusting trusting them and let them go play I grew up on the on the mean streets of north philly that's why I came Yeah, it was raised by a philly cop so yeah, you know, there's an intensity that goes about that Um You spend time around them and you and you know, it's my job to be hard hard on them in practice

You know to be detailed and on top of my game and have all the answers and Drive them and motivate them, you know Because on game day that's not the time that that's the time for them to play But uh, that's my job during the week my my job during the week is to be the bad cop and let all the other guys be the good cop Thank you I mean, that's a ton of additional pressure. Yeah, I mean that's a that's a guy Who can beat you with his feet or his arm and that changes everything about the game. I mean, it's it's a big deal You know Riley He he he's really established of his own mark in his own place because Of us not his athletic skill

But his toughness I mean, he's really Really A tough minded person and player Yeah, I think it did I think it really did you know Um, the sooner you can get back to playing the sooner um You know, you can write a new script, you know, so I think that was that was a good thing for us I'm not sure how much you probably know but Definitely there was Hey Feel bad For a little bit and then we got to get back to work, you know, and

Anytime you can get back to work It helps you uh get over those things Yeah Losing at Ohio State is never a good thing, you know, you're expected to win every game But If it does happen That's the job as coaches is we we have to Find a way to get some benefit out of it, you know, and I and I feel like we did I feel like we did that

I Like the adjuster that's why I named him the adjuster because he adjusts yes Yeah, I think it um It It allows all the things you talked about in terms of disguise it gives coverage relief to the other guys um, I think He sees things you know, even better from that position Um, you know, and so the results speak for themselves too. That's all theory until you get out there and do it

Yeah, from the time we recruited him to the you know, yeah, I always knew that he could do that And it was just a matter of Getting to it as the best thing for the entire defense We Yeah, it hit us hard. I mean we put a lot of time into it and um, you know, thought we put our best foot forward um, but that's why Uh, you don't overreact in those situations that You know Give him his respect for his decision and his family and Say hey if you ever need us we're here because those things come around

Absolutely absolutely yeah, we're You know still using a lot of Oklahoma State film one way we're trying to recruit him and Another year gave us the opportunity to put more stuff on tape to show him Um, yeah, he's he's a very serious student You know, so um He It's almost like if he sees something when you're teaching He's not going to say it right then, you know, he's one of those guys that'll come to you after class and you know like a And then bring it up, you know, but he he's very serious about the flow of teaching and and You know Not interrupting but he picks up on it he picks up on everything you have to be on your toes

Oh Yeah, I think What you said with coach day and chipped in was We experienced the benefits of that right because of less plays, you know and short in the game But defensively you also said it you really don't have a choice in the matter You know, you get it's it's whatever the other team throws at you. You got to react to it Yeah, they're No, not me. I mean we have that's coach day sets up the entire program to have all the nutrition people and the

Sports science and all that to do that I don't treat it any differently. Our job is Defensive got one job stop him. It's it and then do it again the next series Yeah Yeah, I mean there's luck involved there's preparation there's Strength staff nutrition sports science all that is a big deal. That's why we have great people who do it and And then you gotta be fortunate Yeah, I think it really started at Duke be honest with you and um

It evolved And you know where Duke and you got great kids and Maybe you're not quite as talented as your opponent sometimes you got to find ways to win You know, so it allows you to be more creative and then You get to Oklahoma state and What you do at Duke doesn't work because the big 12 is different, you know or was it the time right? I mean Trying to score every play so then you have to adapt to that And then you get to a how state and you know, you have the best players in the country and And um That's in it. That's an adaption too right because You know things that maybe you had to do in the past you don't have to do anymore. So you look for different ways to get an edge What's been the dominant on there Yeah

Work work and good kids, you know put in the work Have the answers and then have good kids who want to be coached and listen, you know, it's really a big deal You Work Same answer it's work, right? I mean, it's just you you work and but you have to study yourself I Don't think it's a big deal you have to It take accountability when something doesn't work You know You got to study all the ways that teams have Beach you and and have answers But really it's just A lot of study a lot of time alone a lot of work

What that's been I really try to take myself out of the equation my job is to put the players in the right position to To win and be successful and to serve the head coach. So Yeah, I mean, I would be thrilled for our players and for our head coach and Realizing that Ohio State's a tough place and and you're right. We have had our ups and downs So I would be thrilled to for them to be able to come out on top When he was there at a Virginia Tech um And when he first came in I remember going out spring workouts and he kind of just gave the vibe like he's a great dude Like he he really wanted to build connections with us. So it's been amazing What's been the biggest adjustment you've had to make sense coming to my understanding The biggest adjustment I would have to say is uh

Just really buying in to to the culture because we're a big culture program We we keep the culture. It no matter what's going on. We are going to be um Same way, so just kind of buying in stuff like that You got to go to a couple of those bowl games and kind of see what that experience was like What did that kind of do for you to help prepare you to do it yourself? It was crazy because uh There's my first time actually watching games from the field. So I actually got to see steps. I got to see play call and I got to see coach Fry actually coaching those guys up on the sideline and actually forgot the talk that he's talking For freshman offensive line patient It's a development As a guy who comes from high school where you're playing a lot How do you kind of reset coming in as an offensive line knowing it may be a year or two before you start to get real Um, you know, you kind of just want to learn from those guys that been here because uh Like you said, it's kind of tough coming in and being a young guy and then Going against different fronts you might never seen before and talking different knowledge that you might not talk before but

For me, it's been kind of a learning process, but I'm picking up on it Um, I get very great coaching every day Um, and the older guys do a great job of you know, communicating so it's kind of been really easy actually Nine different guys started last year Like what does that mean for this room in terms of You guys know you have to be prepared for any So how do you how do you prepare for that? Um just coming every day ready to work and coming with that mindset that uh We all need each other. It's not just one guy this one guy that know is five guys out there And those five guys that are gonna be out there they got to be able to trust their brother And the guys that are on the sideline we got to be out there churning on our brothers And when our names are called or whatever names call you got to be but a step up Come or just that early on like right now for you trying to still Your teammates can trust you Just coming every day with the mindset that I'm here to work like I come into building I come into Woody and

They know that I'm here to work. They know that I'm not here to play around They know that I'm coming in to meet it ask the questions So I figured I was going on picking the older guys brain stand out the practice Either and get it at your work You talked about this kind of scene and movements already wherever you see nothing Most in your games Uh, I want to say Knowing the game and football that's that that was the biggest Improvement for me because you know coming out of high school. It's kind of a lot more simpler coming to a place I go higher state. You got to know your stuff You know me and and coach gives us a good good look I'm talking my coach for the Difficulta he gives great looks different looks and yeah Is that through film work that you start to see that the most kind of the knowledge of the game Uh, yeah, I want to say to film them and on the on the field because you can work on the end of the film I mean you can work on the world, but if you can't take it to the field then none of that really matters

Thank you The world What have you made of the quarterbacks of the three of them? Not too much. I feel like they all come in here working. I feel like everybody's making their throws making their passes everybody making their corrections When the next game that was it when the next game go out there outside of the beat the man in front of you and came out with a national championship on the bench I'm gonna really down trying to get my game as well Who has started to step up and realize I feel like we've we've had leaders from radioshirt that came back after we got new guys that stepped up into their roles and their roles and around the team that becoming leaders

Being a leader you all always have to be vocal you can have to say examples on the field or you can be vocal and do both I was happy for Gia. I see her I heard grind and I see her master grind and getting an extra work Barley ball we come out here and play ball. He's out here doing the pro day yesterday I just you know ready to go make some real money You feel like you're a different player now going into this year and maybe you were last year I feel like every year I've just improved on my overall game blocking kitchen consistently wise People used that word but I feel like I'm just overall better. I came in here ready to go How much does it push you when you're in a room of guys like Max and Will and That it that you know you've got to be on your game if you're going to get on the field man I feel like I started by iron every day come in and work and they go push me every day to work and it's just like I'm a do-do

I love more honestly max max Claire Max LeBlanc both of them. I love What's You flashed Is this the year work? I feel like every year with my year but hey we're gonna see this year I'm ready to come out here and put on a show for the Bug-Out Nation I feel like everybody on the field is ready to go put on the show we're trying to go back and back You got to play quite a bit though last year to learn what what did you pick up from all of that especially on in a championship run You know and they were counting on you I honestly just be ready at any time honestly You can be throwing in at any time just like I was I probably has That's why we're just throwing in and you gotta get it done. Yeah, if you don't get it done they're gonna find somebody who's to do it We Definitely see As a tidy in you know the all of that You're honestly over the spray and summer this I'll see you then I feel like I told them my body a lot

And I got stronger in the we room. I've also got a little bit faster Getting another Said It well I feel like it's a lot more film I say like the tight ends we come in here five o'clock every other day Do a walk through more film Which is more students in the game now We remember that boy It was just a exciting play I was the last read on it like the very last read on it. Don't go out I can't down with the kids. I need to get the first down It's a lot of help Kind of knowing that I can always turn the shit no matter how rocky it gets and

You'll make it through it no matter no matter how bad it gets because if you truly believe in yourself And you have good support around you and you can do anything I was going through a little bit I ended up turning my doctors and my hips so I was playing through that Didn't make it to easy trying to kick in in those games But you know I did my best to tell the team out That was a week I wasn't really thinking about it to be honest. I was like I told my dad about this my dad asked me I just it was like the quietest moment I've ever had in life because it was so loud and the moment was so big But I was so focused and it was just like I was in a flow state

Yeah, well, I've been doing it and practice is fond and it's it's great for mental But until you see it going in the game. It's a completely different feeling So that was that was huge for me. I know that was huge for coach Danny to Yeah, you know, I would hope so but you never know but um If it feels great for me knowing that He trusted me in that moment even though I hadn't had the best past couple of games even though Practice is completely different for the game to still put me out there and trust me to do my job Oh really So yeah It was rest and just recovery stuff and Therapy physical therapy stuff like that just trying to get back to first grade

Uh the contact sounds the same but you can just tell kind of what the ball flight It goes a lot further sounds a lot like feels a lot more pure cutting off my foot How did you learn how to kick through that injury last year? trial and error Which I guess would explain my existence to ask me A little bit of just trial and error and what what I could do and so I I think I finally figured out around organ of the playoffs and just kind of Let it ride from there whether it be the Last season but you kind of take away from those ups and downs but maybe kind of change your process of all going into this year almost most definitely The process of me warming up is become a lot more In-depth and I go through multiple different stretches exercises that sort of stuff So I'm on I'm gonna carry that along with me this I feel like it prepared me better for the game and also the mental aspect of it Just believing and having confidence in yourself always and I don't know how much of that's just so good

It just I just started to feel a lot more comfortable then I guess I would say The a lot of pressure Towards me and from back this and the media and all that sort of stuff it was all kind of compiling and I was like I just kind of had to do something about it. So I figured it out whether it be the the playoffs It was my right Whether it be the playoff or the playoffs success you had the the health you feel now just how much Mentally in terms of confidence do you feel like you know you've improved going into this season? I always had confidence myself um But the level that I'm at right now is probably ten times more than it was last year Just peer purely because of showing myself I could do it and then also Showing Coach Day I could do it Yeah, I just I showed my everyone that I could do it Because your mindset with Coach Day sent you out there against Tennessee to kick the real long one at the end of the half You know you you go out there do you think you're gonna make them all you know one with what were your thoughts?

I knew I kind of had to hit a perfect ball and um Conditions weren't on my side that night obviously But you know you're still expected to go out there and make the kick if you could see out there So I know I kind of I had to hit a good ball and just ended up having it for that night, but yeah, it's kind of hit Jade thank you very much to me Geno 2 I want to say thank you to Geno and the rest of my teammates receivers gave me open and Alon doing her thing and Hopefully you know it's just the beginning On this day in this one because you had a game coming up in a few days Yeah, I mean we're gonna definitely look at it tomorrow go over it Fix our mistakes and it's good that it's a early week early week Thursday game. So um You know we will have to flesh it and move on Out of all get one last week or before the game Maybe hasn't been as most productive season. What's he meant to you guys in terms of leadership and maybe helping the other receiver like you?

I mean it means everything everything to this organization How you carry themselves Just everything he's done for this organization in city You know, he's a leader and I appreciate him so much, you know You know, I feel like I'm in the best position possible, you know having T-lock and DK and all these other guys. So You know T-lock he's a special guy and I'm just Just blessed to have his friendship and him be my teammate How do you guys back from this one Jackson just you guys arrived? When you know when when next week and a week after that, you know, that's the best bounce back Oh The year you know 100 total yards in the play-out game we lost which I hate the most Stas don't matter me. I want to win But then come back the next year heard again like 20 kill each so two really unfortunate injuries, but

That's just a guy's plan, you know, and um, I think that the storm is now over You know, and I do think that I'll be able to shine a light to the whole world Are you concerned that you have that label? I could care less because I do what I do and I know this out there Um because as as it should be it should be I got hurt two major injuries back or not back to back years, but you know So I haven't been on the field as much as I should that's true. That is true, but It's not like I'm having these little little dinky injuries and sitting out It's something I can't control literally. So that's why I'm not bothered by it like yeah, I am injury poem You can say that you know, but I do think that the chargers are getting A guy that's gonna be healthy from now on, you know, God will it and it's gonna be great And I do think that it's gonna be it's gonna be a great however many years here When you've been on the field you've been highly productive Yeah, 5.8 yards of very average for your career like knowing that when you're out there

Your very adopted how much confidence does that give you that really all you need is not All the confidence in the world, you know the way I work I want to say just from the numbers But just the way I work my work ethic, you know, and I'm my relationship with Jesus Is like I have the most confidence when I step out there because I do know like If he grants me the health is over with is I don't think I'll be you know I think it'll be a great year or whatever Couple of years however many years he grants me great health, you know, and I think Just the work ethic my prayer and all that stuff That's what help you have that confidence with the numbers will be there in there. They might be higher after this year You know, it's and it's crazy to think about because I had six point yards or six yards per carry You know, so we'll see Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I play with Bradley I play with him, you know, I know the Slater, I know all the I know all the guys, you know, and I'm I'm excited

I think it's like I said earlier. It's a talented group You know, we just got put together win some games because that's what I came before I wouldn't I wouldn't say you're part of the recruitment but like whenever I decide I was going to sign it was great to have him in the room Yeah, we're great. We're we have a great relationship. That's he's like my brother I think it accomplished it complimented each other very well, you know He can do a lot of stuff too. You know, we got a lot of people think he's just power power power But I think he has some other parts of the game too, which it it'll be great because I feel like I could do everything and when one's get tired we can roll it in we keep rolling win some games So when you the two of you keep going How do you think it's gonna look the world will be that partnership back there? I know That's a hard question. Um, how do I think I think it'll look beautiful You know, I'm a lot of people call this a passive league, but I think you got to run the ball to win a Super Bowl

You know, if you look at the the team through in the Super Bowl, they can run the ball. They can control the clock And so if we're both good, it'll look great beautiful I would describe the bread growing offense I would I would describe it as you know, um a great offense Um, I think he he gives a quarter he's gonna give the quarterback A lot of options. He's gonna give the running back a lot of options He's gonna give the receiver a lot of options, you know, and I think it'll be I think it's gonna be great His offense is gonna be amazing You said that one part of it is just you gotta call the place you gotta call run place as a running back You know how much confidence how much you say this and give you you know you play collar That's gonna stick with it and allow you Any options on it gives you a rhythm of the game. It gives me a lot of excitement You know, um, it's gonna be like I say it's fun to play in his offense You know, um, and I think he does have some good things in the pass game too, but

Like you said, he sticks with the run and that's that's the identity You you want to offensive has an identity right you don't want to be looking Everywhere else to find your your identity you want you want to have it And so I think his offense has that and the guy see bills and puts in there it it compliments that identity So I think it's gonna be great I ain't gonna answer any of the fool if it's up to me. Yes Yeah, look because I had this problem like three two years three years ago. I'm thinking I'm fool go I think I'm ready to go anything next year. You know, I'm on PUP like Hey, look some stuff it but my prairie pay gray so But I don't know. Hopefully I can start. I think I'm ready to start, you know I'm beginning training camp, but that's not up to me as I've learned I Wouldn't say that I think I've been I've been in some great organizations and I think this

This organization is a great organization and the training staff is great And so they just want what's best for me, you know And they're they're taking care of me which that's what you want in the organization And so that's where that comes from which I appreciate it like I really appreciate that You know because I'm a type of guy like I work really hard. So Maybe sometime I'm blind to you know the danger of something, you know So I appreciate it, but like I said if it's up to me. Yeah, I'm out there, but never know Well any frustration for you during the getting into pre-agency, you know, dealing with with rehab and not You know, having a full season of paid for the production to go out there was there any part of that where you're like You know With a different situation, you know, I like it. I like How would I say this um, I Like it the hard way But not you know, I like it the hard way I like it um, I like trial and tribulations

So um, I mean the dice that I was given the role was I was coming off a third Achilles And um, that was that was the lorge plan. So It was beauty in that like I was comfortable. I was caught like there was multiple teams, you know I wasn't it wasn't like I didn't have any other team But I was comfortable and sitting back and just enjoying the process Letting myself get fully healed So whenever that team whoever I would sign with who now is the Chargers is gonna get the best me, you know and I think people all around the league know that like okay, this guy. Okay. It's a high risk High reward type thing right not even a high risk low risk because you It's a business right so I got hurt last year. So not as much money needs to be throwing that But I think everyone around the league knows that whenever I am on the field the numbers don't lie And so they know that and a lot of teams were like are here you can we give you this but

We want you to be healthy. So When I'm healthy, it's gonna be great This the chance that I've been giving here. I'm so grateful. And I know that's gonna be they won't be they won't regret it Are you the type of person that likes to prove people wrong? Like you've run a couple things like the High risk high reward, injury from you know, like are you the type of person that really tries to approve people wrong? No I Hear it. I see it. It's pretty cool. Like you'll never see me unless I'm just like in a bag Moved you never see me like oh like if I have a great game or great year like I have this wonderful year I ain't gonna go back and you like like yeah, what happened? No because I don't care like You're eventually see like I'm like I'm a guy that's really good. So I ain't worry about that But I'm proving myself right that I am one of the best in the league right so Forget all the naysayers And people to talk about who being injury prone because whenever I have this great year. It's gonna be forgotten

You know Well, I give that energy Yeah, I was you know, we just with him, you know, he's is a great guy. I mean he was in my class I remember seeing him on we were at an award show I was a dog walker finalist and I'm like I've seen him play, but I didn't know he was that tall Like I didn't know he was like six six. I went at first. So I'm this was years ago in college I'm like, am this is me tall like He's cool though like I like I'd never really got to I ain't gonna lie. I thought it would be kind of you know No nerdy there. Where he's cool dude very late, but No, I'll face to him A lot more than I

Man I know like one of my individual goes like I wanted to do I wanted to get more pics When you play man's kind of hard to get more pics. You're back Back is to the quarterback No, especially like you plan to get scored by the air air literally is gonna throw about at the back of your head It was towards like a very great coat P.I. something like that like And it's just it's just a hard and ain't way tens trying to scheme us like runaways and they just run away from this You know, it's definitely a lot harder to get pics, but this is one of those things where he's like There's a stopper man from getting the cash in the ball That's a tough presence I

You sides him being a great player and me being a competitor um and wanting to help our teams win you know, you know, you know, you get great dude someone that I've seen a couple times just around and it's offseason and and You know, just just the way your spectra opponent is playing your hard out doing your best to to To win you to win your rep and um, you know, I feel like that's the best hit for me and him and like that'll be exemplified on on the weekend Yeah, I do um, you know, I feel like step one of me and better and um, you know playing the way you want to is being conscious and self-aware of what you uh Did to put yourself in that position the week previous so um, then that's where it all started watching the film and and um, you know being in tension on practice. So just catching up all with my body Um doing those type of things. I think I did a really good job at this week up to um, you know, it's confident

I felt all year and now I just about going out there and and making sure a chance like the sunday which confident and will say No, I wouldn't say wait on me at all. I wouldn't think about during the game. Um, yeah, well, not not You know, I'm not gonna say that was the reason why I played better nothing. No, I wouldn't think about it I'm gonna be speaking to it to see the wider Um, just that stuff like that is contagious and it's something that you know, we've uh, you know This all I know so all you kind of get used to something but the reality of it is it's not okay And we got to figure it out and we got to figure out why we're not winning again. We got all the time in the world. We got all the the pieces So why are we winning when it matters and then uh, you know little things like that out of them

And that was my takeaway from becoming from someone that's been part of great cultures great teams And it's a great player himself You know, when he talks you're gonna listen so I know we all you know heard him and uh tried to go about it the right way This practice week and as far as having energy and and uh, you know, if you don't have the energy figure to you make it So that is you know, it's it's contagious and that was my my to kind of take away from that I move to you all over the place, but I imagine what the bomb saying You can line up a little bit more in the slot We've seen you be pretty ridiculous inside there. Is that a place that you feel at home? Is that something you would enjoy? Um, yeah, I mean, I don't mind being in slot on mine being outside the uh truth of it is, you know, usually you get less of a uh, you know a cover player in the slot um You get to see the defense Show itself in a little different view as you know as opposed to being on the outside and just focus on your corner

So there's ways to to get into your rod a little faster and just break down the coverage and find that zone and that whole So I like it and I feel like they're being the type of player I am it's um, you know, you can seem a little easier in the slot To break things down. I'll say but but uh, no, I like doing both of me I ain't gonna figure that like doing both and when we being in slot being the slot and um, you know vice versa We're hearing the slot. Can you get quick wins that are right in the quarterbacks? I mean Right in front of them is that an aspect of it that's positive? Are you doing it right in front of you? Uh, you know, that's a good point maybe um Yeah, maybe that is maybe that is something that goes into it But uh, well, I think reality, but you got to make some tough guess in the slot all of a sudden you're over the rid of the field Got those big uh, you know the big backers and the stack monsters that you gotta do with a little more and And that's what comes with it, but you are writing that sight line at the quarterback. So Yeah Do you remember the Feeling walking out of the stadium after feeding these guys Let's go and

Yeah, you were writing pretty high right then Yeah, you know, can you get back to that with with a win something? Uh, yeah, you know it you gotta we gotta start somewhere and this is who our next opponent is so we gotta We gotta go out and do what we gotta do Yeah, I mean we want to get on the street we want to get on and if we're gonna do it it starts It starts this weekend. So um, you know, we got the Patriots and we got it. We got it. No handle everything Um, I believe the team or Alice is where it needs to be. No, we have some adversity hit Um, as a team We all would agree that we then respond the right way with the adversity We had some people say some things Throughout these past few weeks we had people you know step up and have people No show show ways not to do those things um, so like I think we in a white spot Um, I think everybody's missing a white spot physically my especially we are too

Because that's where the cons of my adversity hits just want to show me really There's no mad repulsion to You know, I'm not gonna touch the office. I'm gonna fight back on again. There's no mad repulsion to bend down the home Find a way to run into the team and just show who you really are. I think it's not for us to But for us to respond to work I think this weekend's gonna be the right time to show Um, I think it was just what everybody needed You know whether Where he was it was something you could be said um, you know, Brick talked to us talk to the whole team Um, a few days later It coming from him, you know, you guys have been here at all. No, he's on the band with us a week Play one game with us and you know, he felt and saw that which is real As a team the core group know we've been we've been in a situation a lot of times and unfortunately

We came out on losing hands, so it can be easy to kind of fall in that trap of life And here we go But that's what I said like about adversity that we got to make it could be okay to think like that But I'm gonna change that so when adversity hits again, you know, it will know what's gonna be our reaction And I would respond the right way and if you do respond the right way We see a player a teammate a coach not responding that way to make sure we all get on the same page So they come from here was was very good because everybody respects him He has all the accolades in the world But you know, that's the person that the admin so I think I was really good to come from them Have you uh you got in the sense that it's resonated or is that something you'll kind of see on Sunday? Um, I mean, I hope he resonated I heard after he's finished speaking on but yeah, obviously we're gonna see this Sunday Um, because like I said, you know, the versus you're gonna come know It'll be nice to have a game like last time, but you know, you can't care for that I just got to go out there and do our job and know when that moment comes, you know, let's respond the right way

I That's a bad response If If that was the talking the locker room or around then That would get weed it out real quick Because that's not when the football that's not that's not been a teammate That's not holding your own self accountable if that's you're thinking that way And if you are thinking that way, it's probably what's talking to you So um, I hopefully that that message whoever was in that locker room at the time was heard from top of bottom And we can move move forward with that Um, I feel like he's handled with race Uh, he's been humbled about it and he's he's been vulnerable about you know, he's he's opened up You know, he's y'all he was surprised just like everybody else was uh, so you know It was really was a family effort to kind of you know, cope with what happened Obviously try to find a way to move forward um, the right way and productively um, honestly really good like he's been alone

If Jesse meet him like just all the way through because you know, he he just sent the same things we're hearing the defense of room You know all the things he's preached to us these past few years That's made made the deepest what it is and know to make us fight this hard in the love regard my heart this You know all that he's now just bringing it to bringing the light to everyone to hear um, so it's just been cool to see the office and especially teams You know, here those messages, you know, feel his passion, you know Here's speeches for the life before the games and watching a lot their response. Oh, he's been If you ever see him guy like if you ever see video Can't you can't blame oh, yeah, yeah seem like a very tough line Yeah, if you if you want to cross the line backward a moha day, you know, he's crazy or he can hit really hard But um, yeah, as a kid, I definitely remember watching on coach berkley. I remember his name. I remember space I remember all that um, so I respect him a lot as a person in obviously, you know, as an as him being a former player and um, you know him playing with practical is Um, I believe Ronnie lot. I'm not mistaken

Was was like his mentor was and I think coached him was in my correct I don't think it was it No, not practical. He was the head coach for this For say the same thing. Say the same thing. Sorry, sorry, civilteer. Also I bet a lot of backers well, so um, he knows a lot of ball. He's seen a lot of ball Has that old-school mindset which I love which I'm that's who I am. So um, you know, a lot of respect for the person for sure You were teething about his black throwing technique. Just black throwing Challenge black. Oh, no, I just see that I don't see that Um, I think it's better to say we haven't played through our standard um, you know People getting saved What's the reason then but at the end of the day where the ones that cost the white lines Really ones that have to know handle the adversity. We the ones that have to step up when the times get tough So we got to each challenge ourselves to you know, get back to our standard just you know having fun out there

Just run around here and no executing then turn over Um, so that's just what we have to do because it was about to take us to one football guys As far as He doesn't he doesn't like Jeff He doesn't like Jeff That's coach coach brick Had the toughness as a player for what you saw and watched how does that carry over to being a head coach? Um, I think it's more I think it's a mindset Like his his ability to take adversity where there's good a bad and Turn it into something and you know make it work something for Um, like I said before you know him being vulnerable him opening it up into the deep things Like the day him open up to the whole team telling his story telling his why like that that builds character That's Bill's trust and that you know that builds love and that builds the family You know that makes you want to go out there and play hard for and that makes you want to go out there and feed his family I make you want to go out there, you know do everything you can for you know for him as a as a man

And also as a coach because you know he would do the same thing off the field and if he could play He would definitely be doing the same thing for us on the field. So I think that's just just a respect thing He with Jalen Mills. What have you seen from the Patriots offense so far with Drake May? Yeah A guy who's he's trying to put the ball in the air, you know, of course they are still trying to establish their run game Um, they got a good running back over there. We're Remind Jay But young young quarterback. I said it's putting the ball in the air and he's also, you know, he's Getting those thirty five thirty and six, you know, he's converting those outsles with his leg as well So we just have to be aware of that When he does want to take off scrambling and then those passing down situations, you know, cover down on those guys As a former Patriot like do you see similarities and the defenders are totally different without Bella check there Yeah, definitely similarities um a lot of those guys were there when I was there um, I mean DC Who is the DC now we call them DC uh Coventon um, he was there. He was the D line coach of course Mayo as well

Um, so they are kind of running the same type of defense little tweaks here and there but for the most part the same is their extra meaning for you playing at Foxboro this weekend? um I don't want to put a snap on that um because at the end of the day It's it's time to win regardless whoever we are going against Um When when Sunday at one o'clock comes, you know, I'm pretty sure that I will be fired up and up Everybody'll be able to tell but uh as of right now just trying to try to stay focused Trying to stay calm throughout this process and when Sunday comes just just let it rip Where do you feel like you are with this defense after coming here and quickly being integrated? um um I think the coaching staff Coach him um, they're a really really good job with me every morning One-on-one meetings, you know, detailing the the playbook for me Um, throughout walkthroughs, the practice like I said meetings in the morning To the point to where I feel like I pretty much got a good grasp of the defense So how much how much more meat on the boners there for you like what do you think your game?

Plays well into this defense like what matches well? Um, I think just the difference in general As to safest to do a lot of communication Which I'm not afraid of I've been a part of defense with safety have to do a lot of communication Safety have to play man. We have to play in the middle. We have to blitz So I think as far as that part my versatility allows me to do a lot of that in his defense and um I think it compliments me really well Adding a guy like Hassan retic in the fold where you get some more pass rush juice to go along with Quinnon and Will Mcdonald What can that do for the secondary? Yeah. I mean now whether it's Man opportunities or our zone opportunities Um, we're talking about being able to get the quarterback have his had the ball get out of his hands quicker faster And if if not, you know, he's in trouble Um, you get a guy like Hassan where The slide may go to him now and you got a guy like will 101 and You know how that goes are they make chip both for those guys and now Quinnon gets the 101 And you know how that goes as well. So I think those guys complimenting us in the back end

Um, I think it's gonna be really really good for what's going forward. You didn't overlap with him and Philly I don't believe but Obviously have teammates Has anyone just Either before this year or sins reached out to you about what kind of player and teammate he is? Yeah hard worker Guys gonna go out there and give it his all and um, I mean that's that's how we can ask for him You know, I know he has a big expectation for himself and we have big expectations for him But at the end of the day he goes out there be himself Play full tilt to the whistle whether 60 snap seven snaps whatever it may be that's how we can ask him I know you've only been here for a little bit But the standard of this defense usually is not to let up 37 points like in Pittsburgh What has been the focus in the meeting rooms behind the scenes this week? That's maybe a little more in the light than weeks past The detail and and that detail comes one day at a time one meeting at a time one practice at a time Of course, we're ready for Sunday. We want to get this nasty taste out of our mouth from from last week But at the end of the day it's like I said one day at a time one practice one practice at a time one meeting at a time

And when Sunday gets here, you know let the chips fall with it may awesome. Jalen. Appreciate the time. Thank you As you are serious about once we grade I'm just wasting time on money, so I mean do the problem my big three with the culture being Probably for me being around the coach up hand-to-day Well, it's kind of the things that you notice around him just whether it's how he is or just how What your thoughts of him being around the atmosphere. He's an incredibly detailed guy And yeah, I got that for sure from a slightly watching film like he broke down Just like some game film with me and also a common book about some of the guys that he he's coaching the past that are similar to me And you know, that was uh He really just showed how how good of a coach is you know Getting to know coach more bell during this experience. What has that been like? It was good. He's a he's a very passionate guy And I mean, I love that like a head coach should have that and Yeah, you can tell how much he cares about What the guys about the program About just like being dedicated being driven since when to succeed. What did they tell you about the opportunity here as far as

Meeting a player of your sort at a position or the offense mind. Well, I mean they see me at left tackling this I'll be a good fit, you know coming in but I was the coach no ball stressed, you know, lots of other great Um on us alignment and the portal that have lost the risk of you saying that To wise on now be good fit when it comes to Such as I would what you guys do what If you see does and what a psych the people here What's kind of the ultimate feeling now about that you at you slow just big experience Then what's kind of the feeling about them? Yeah, it's it's a most definitely good feeling It's great. I'm glad that I was actually able to come down here to I mean Zoom calls and phone calls are nice, but you know in person is a lot different And this is again to know the staff you're getting to know coach herb and to know Question about like it was a great experience overall who I was to be checked out during this process what other schools I've talked to some others. So I've talked to um How I say it in Iowa and and um really just uh

Yeah, that's what we've been I've tried to keep it short. I tried to keep it sweet Really needs to be I mean that's not the main priority Are you entering decision mode now or do you intend to take some trips in our own January? Yeah, I'm done with When do you want to decide? Good all good for those of us have only seen maybe highlights of you What are kind of your strengths and areas that you're looking to improve on? So shrink wise I would say probably just um movement I mean I've been told my coach hurt you know I would very well for a 300 or 45 pound guy You know if I ever done on film This I meant to got my stances a big thing for me so big and just be able to move people But at the same time also just being consistent and can't place in punch I mean forward to general to technique. So I mean if you're I mean if you're a big strong guy You can only do so much by when you don't have right technique So that's a big reason why I want to have a good one coach to work with just to

For find that technique to to be precise in everything Yeah, that's kind of like what I'm looking for to improve Off you man Definitely ready to go I Mean just when you look at the schedule he asked for us and how it takes care of our body um, you know just the Dilligencent and a situation of football Of course my car team man. He's he's a great coach See by the day just us being being ready in this week went opener and I'm just excited to build on that Um I always feel good not always but I mean it's week one Is this week one um some he definitely fresh but uh You know just gotta you know continue to you know build on that and uh take care of my body and uh

We want to be feeling good and December in January Oh It definitely felt great you know scorn that touchdown uh Had a bunch of emotions kind of had to lay there and soak it all in but uh you know it's glad to be back Very time in front and uh for us that too working starting the day I think those guys you know played their tell off they They competed um, I think we had a great plan and we went out and executed it Oh, wow, I mean, I think it was late in the second quarter and I think I had like 20 30 yards past 30 yards rushing. I'm like many boys are out there playing um, but I mean Went against that defense all offseason Know how difficult it is to play them hop to prepare for them um

But you know they they stepped up and answered a call Throughout the season, uh, I know you have to run fit that you took during the game But coming out of that you still have to hope that the faith in you and that he's gonna play like yes The line shared season as opposed to maybe kind of things that happened in that game Yeah, absolutely will is our quarterback. He's our leader He didn't come here by accident and you guys have seen the product. They's put out there at the field week after week. So um You know, I don't necessarily think that he played bad in our last game But you know moving away from that um, we have full trust in him. He's putting together a great practice week Um, and we're excited to see what he puts out there on Saturday and lead us Gonna have to go to just a couple more. See what it means. Clay with that knowledge In your football life when is the last time You think you have ever been frustrated with it How games going in the game plan Of some if that makes sense

Um, I'll say you know, there's there's rarely a Saturday that I'm not frustrated You know, I mean we can uh, we can be the team by sending like I'm saying But um, there's always a standard that I hold myself to I hold my team is to I hold my coaches to so that's kind of the standard around the building Um, so we've all cultivated a really good culture here to where we're able to have tough conversations Hold each other accountable not only coaches to players but players to coach it So um, there's always ways to improve um every any game Saturday no matter if we win by 70 points or you know We lose by 70. We're always looking for for ways to improve so yeah You cardinals in Jeremiah Very good speakers obviously But you guys don't tend to have the personalities that sometimes even to protect them go very good receiver Why You know, I can't speak for for those two, but I know for myself um You know, I just I just look at my life and I look at the ways God has blessed me and it's hard for me You know not to bow before him and be humble in those moments So I'm not really one to to talk to him with smack. I'm I'm going to go out there and do my job

And I'm going to do at a very high level You know all the things I go on my head. I never really um share all the time But at my core deep down I'm a very real indeed competitor Um So I think that I know when I'm capable of I know that type of caliber player I am Um, but there's no need to really both that or anything like that just put on the field and do what you're capable of And find a question to Jeremy Birmingham Uh the podcast I'm not gonna one of your former classmates here plays a tendency now Uh return tonight and some comments about why stadiums about the crowd in Columbus do You guys have like a Uh a message for I say you know more For fans who are hearing that and being told that the stadium doesn't get loud or then Arkansas You know, it's up in places like yeah, I mean, you know knowing Buckington nation I don't think I have to do too much motivation Uh, we're gonna come out there Saturday and it's gonna be an amazing environment So um, that's just just the type of fans we have I'm not gonna feed too much into the stuff that tendency is saying

But um, we're really looking forward to this opportunity. We're glad that we're playing at home Just to be in front of our home crowd and from our families So it's gonna be an amazing environment and I'm excited One more step Yeah, you talked about the accountability on players to players coaches players but if you elaborate a little bit more on how the players kept the coaches accountable Yeah, I mean, we've we've had a you know tough conversations throughout the year Um and coach challenge in the ways how can I get better and we give them feedback so It's not really any different than the way they criticize us so um You know, I think it's important to be a little for coaches to be able to handle what players have to say Because it in turn to make some better coaches just like they're able to coach us so That's really just that relationship that we have that we have is very special and I think it's unique to our program Do you agree that people are right for thinking about the toughness to do that way or is it Like a big and hard question to make that feel good? I mean You can I mean you can tell you in any way you want We have the best running back back field in the entire nation and we have the best receiver unit nation

So um we kind of we're kind of jack of all trades so And past Probably stay away from talking about scheme stuff So yeah, what was it that Jeremiah did that you think To be in I'm like I do Um just coming in every single day and competing that's really what we're challenged to do Um as as buck guys when we walk into the way we're gonna coach make you're supposed to be there and show up and show out every single day And you're not allowed to have a step back and not allowed to have an off day. He took he took care of all his You know the non-negotiables of this program. He was never late. He made his weight every single day He gave his 100% effort and at the end of the day He was just winning a lot of competitions and just grinding so yeah Flex your brain a lot about Brain and then get a chance to do a lot this spring What stood out to you Even when he wasn't on the field this spring that

That makes things like he can be a legit man and back back field Well, yeah first and foremost he got he got voted on by his peers to the leadership committee on our team Which is a group of about you know 16 to 20 of our of our guys who the team looks to as leaders So obviously you can see how people think of him on this team I think highly of him when he comes in every day as a very fiery competitive nature And you know he puts in really hard work in days in and days out So even though he hasn't seen the field too much yet We have no we have no Concern that when he dust up onto the field he's gonna make a great impact Yeah Like Yeah, just his ability to be able to you know talk a good game, but also back it up Not in the sense of playing football more in the sense of we're gonna be the hardest working team on the field We're gonna go in day in day out. I'm gonna I'm gonna beat you even when I don't feel healthy even when I don't feel good all that type of stuff It's it's all mentality

Far away it looks like My You see that Yeah, he definitely is very fluid about the way he moves and we see it in his in his you know His routes and his releases so you know when all the wide receivers are knowing the film room and you know He's getting crapped. He's doing all this body movement stuff. It's like okay. We could see he got a little something to him So it's just about bringing him along, you know, he wasn't you know, he just got here's first first year here kind of built on along There's steps you got to take but he's definitely training in the right direction The back of a lot of teams get talent for whatever reason you guys seem to develop the receivers better than anyone What what goes on out there that somehow helps Ohio State keep placing guys We play Denzel Davidson Ibnelson germane Matthews Jordan Hancock lay the ransom Caleb downs. That's really what it is It's a it's BIA getting us better every single day. So tremendous credit to the defense in the bit the ability to be able to develop corners like that

It's just good on good every single day. That's that's the way you get better. So I mean, we definitely have a strong second there. I would say this year But you know, it's just it's just it's not just their talent that makes them special It's their their ability to go hard every single day. They show up every single day with a competitive nature And you know, we're going back and forth on the field every single day They'll be bigger and and spin that each other a little bit But um, it's all love at the end of the day. We appreciate them for getting us better I don't have to ask questions. I'm happy you do a lot of things this Off at the pad that you go where Brandon seems like a guy So much Whether it move around Whether he's just beaten anything you see kind of that same horse how filled and Brandon is kind of something you do Yeah, absolutely Brandon, you know, he came up played running back for a lot of his life Played a little quarterback here in there. You know now he's received very he can do a lot of different things So we just try to put him in a position where he can be the most successful And the position that makes him the most successful is just the ball in his hand

So he tried to do that for him And a bunch of other guys in the program who thrive with that All right, I'm gonna go that so right now he hasn't done any interceptions So hopefully Russian covers can work together so we can cause his first turn over the season Uh, no one a guy he's been a guy to pass that those lots of interceptions because he takes shots and Yeah, I know he's even a throw the ball as far as he can in front of our crowds. So you got to do a good job of plastering them Just to speak to the run game with the run defense was a lot better the second half Sunday than the first half Is there anything really changed there at all or aggression? You know, just to pick it back off that we got to continue to be better I don't personally for me. I don't like seeing the amount of yards on the board granted, you know, we did win but you know I don't want to I don't want to be the hindsight guy and forget about, you know, the run game is still I think an issue for us Is an issue for me We got to be better. I don't want to be one of the last teams in the league in a run game So I agree we're doing a good job. You know, where are my sets right? The coaches are emphasizing it and eventually he's gonna get going Obviously, you never want to have a teammate be treated away like your own but with Ernest Jones coming in

He's highly touted. There's a pretty good run defense Kind of linebacker. What does that do for your defensive room? Trader, Terri, where my book I but we it does it it does a I can't really speak on it because I don't really know Jones that that will I don't know his game I've heard from others that I know that place for the Rams. I said he was good But I mean as far as that I don't know hopefully this move works out for the betterment. I'm obviously I mean, we all want that too, but um, we'll see how it goes feel like a positive thing obviously when john Schneider and your coach are working to get A impact player under team when the NFC is kind of this wide open Um, it can be viewed as a positive or negative thing. It depends on what What window you look through It's a big process. It's definitely not easy to rework your roster in the middle of the season They're going to do what they're going to do regardless and obviously I respect that. I'm for I believe in their and their system

And what they want to do But you know, it's an adjustment for all of us to learn a new guy and um kind of reestablish a new relationship and Reestablish a new voice that you're going to hear making a calls in the middle of the field especially You know because he's the quarterback of defense. So Is just something you got to get just to all of us Playing at a different weight this season has that been any sort of an adjustment for you? It has been um Just getting comfortable with my body again and figuring out uh, you know My strengths and weaknesses and how to make sure all my all my weaknesses are just completely strengths So it's been a challenge in that aspect too and I think I'm doing a good job by this so far But this past rest is going well. How much of it is guys playing on each other like I'm thinking of boys Sac force from was you know to you collapse the pocket and then he's able to Get them yeah, you're all in a yeah um I always say last game was the probably the best game Surprisingly of us all working together as good as we did um I think this these past couple games prior before that game. It's been a lot of us just we just went in and it just happened to be like that I feel like

This athletic game was a good game of us communicating uh the the past game schemes whether it's a game or just going to straight Worth a straight rest and just reading off each other Um, and we gotta get better at that. It's only been a couple games. Well, it's only been seven games We have a lot more football to play to to get better and good our relationship on that aspect If you dropped in covers as much as you thought you might have or um About on par I've dropped a good amount of time so far this year. I'm talking about doing it now. So She put me on whoever nothing me on George Kittle Have you seen Derek Hall grow in the last For my seat in this year of being around him. I mean, he's the same type of player that it honestly Only thing that's been different is mindset and it's applying to the field and uh he has it has to continue You I was yeah Jackson had a duck jersey on the week after um did you have something that you have to do Uh, I had to do something that was a little more personal, but uh not I didn't make that bit but Speaking of that. I don't know why we didn't run the ball in the uh the last

Excessions of the game so talk to uh Them boys down the Columbus and telling to run the damn ball next time and just Get trust the kicker, but Uh, I don't know if that was on purpose. We I think Mike brought that up to me and asked me Do you think it's on purpose or they did by accident? I don't know, but It was intentional. It was intentional. It was a very genius move. I didn't I won't expect that so that was actually you know Big brain played by him No, I'll be real. I don't want to be biased. No, we ran out of time We just my boy my boy uh 18 was back there just too comfortable, but uh, he's gonna learn Uh first game with Roe Robertson Harris Uh, what were your impressions of him It's like six eight and it's crazy uh he's super super strong um I've been watching him. I've been seeing this game from afar from a while. I shouldn't have been watching above and Seeing I saw much Chicago. I saw him in Jacksonville. You know, I just watched a lot of football a lot of tapes So eventually you just see guys you pay attention to who they are

So you know, it's been a unique process of just bringing them in and he's picked up the defense pretty well Um, very powerful guy Versus will and I think it's gonna add a lot of a lot of good plays to our defense here soon You've been to the lineman have arms that long Shoot can nobody touch your chest you in the ball game that like you don't want big strong alignment grabbing you and And trying to rough out you because they're already bigger than us in the first place especially me They like six eight three thirty and I'm wherever my weight is so Playing with extensions is very key for D-Linda I'm a lot better like I would say that he's got a lot smarter For IGB go ahead and think he's there about Calvin's intelligence, you know, the you know where he's grown Where specifically is it the film room is it picking up, you know, the playbook? Where have you seen that? I would say Calvin is gotten smarter just like His game knowledge like expecting like a different kind of routes and stuff like that

What did everything start to click for you so last year was it in sauce? When did you feel I would say I started to get a lot more comfortable in our defense Yeah, I love it. He's tough What do you improve in your game just from that for example those those 101 matchups? This preseason or whatever you know how badly who this game is so jimayet He forces me to pay the back of if you don't pay the bodyguards then he'll go get it. Yeah, yeah Uh, and you and you Dave's in there How would you describe this defense now compared to this time a year ago from this standpoint of a confidence factor You don't mean that you guys feel on the field. What how would you describe it? Oh, it's different about it. I guess I feel like everybody's a lot more smarter this year and everybody's like Yeah

I would just say that we're going just just just just smarter. Yeah, but you know when you when you look up and late and ransom decided to come back And Caleb down transfer it in What what did you feel about that? They did just grow stronger in that one week span two weeks span. You're still one of saying I feel Those guys have played at that the day. The level those guys have played at yeah, I would say that like Uh, a downcoming and um What may say he was coming back so he was coming back. It's just so like We'll be happy to be the native. Yeah, thanks, man. Of course Uh, you can really feel the defenders around you Uh, it's like I said if you see three or four people around you can't really do too much But like I said, there's a lot of more a lot more space with his offense a lot more Holes and a defense that you're trying to get the playmakers into so I'm excited to be able to to work with that You can't really do it as much in practice. You know, you're not gonna get hit but More preseason and first couple games. I'm excited to see see what that looks like

I think of um sheets I'm excited, man. Like I said from jump Uh, he's a special special player. You don't really get that So many players like him that's so quick so fast At least speed and anchor around routes too So I'm excited to see what he does in the future, but uh, I feel like that's the least they can do for him this year How do you think that you would get me out of the way for another? Let's just speed man. Speed you can't teach speed at all Just having us on opposite sides even to play on both sides Uh, just speed down the field you can run 15 20-yard in-breakers outbreakers and Like I said, you can have to play two safeties most of the time or you can run the ball you can get underneath or else It's gonna just gonna be a great compliment to the offense. I'm excited Chris you said you hope this new officer But to play makers in the position to make place what about you specifically what looks in area where you think you'll have more opportunity than fit your game um Like it's it's a lot of areas that

You can see to To look at to improve my game But yards out the kisses to when I'm looking for forward to just more opportunities with that more space Just to show showcase my speed and uh Just my my ability with the ball. So I'm excited to do that this year Something that I really showcase the first two years. So I'm excited to be with Quick game element of it just getting the ball in your hands like yeah quick game play action More over the over the middle routes. It's a lot of different things that You can say that this guy's gonna help that but like I said, I'm excited. How would you start the chemistry between you and Derek? We're getting way better man. I mean, it was our first year last year So it was kind of up and down but Uh, that's what it comes to the game of football. So uh, we worked a lot this off season OTA's was was really good and we got off to a good start these first two days of camp getting extra working But that's gonna come with time. So I'm not worried about that at all. We both competitors. We both want to be the best

So uh, we got it. We got it. Uh, do some to be good Where you kind of notice that difference is just like feel on the route What do you kind of notice now that it's year two that gets more nap? What you mean? So like Derek, are you when you're just Where you kind of know it's just like it's more than that man. It's in a fail. Everybody you know everybody's good So we just got to know what each other's thinking. Pre-snap post-snap cover cheese where the balls won't go Just reese hot. Uh, what read I am in an progression Everything goes along with that. So just being on the same page being Like I said, chemistry is built with time. So just little stuff like that that turns into big things is it's gonna be huge You caught one from a Spencer Routler to the two. What do you really impressions from? It's real talented. That's the first thing I've seen from him His arm title is out the charts. He's he's a real natural natural feel out there He's gonna be real good. I want to see him in action, but for the from my first impression. He's gonna be a real good player

It's going back to the sheet that you talked about all the different stuff you should do you think there's still a lot more there for them? Oh, yeah He hasn't really I think this is first year being Receiver to or really receiver We're in my opinion we both are civil ones. So I just be able to move around run real routes Feel like it's gonna be a huge advantage for for the same. So it's a special player, man. I can't wait to see him ball And I can't wait to see him get more opportunities and you guys see what he can do By run real routes and he's like an opportunity to run. Yeah, just just getting more you know Yeah, I really played too many plays as first years He kind of just get thrown in there when he's getting the ball or We use a decoy or something like that But he's actually being involved in the offense always been in Even on run plays. I feel like he's gonna be a huge advantage for him to get a feel for the game And be more natural there

I mean that's what life everybody is trying to label somebody as as one thing or two things But I feel like you can showcase I mean, that's not really who you are As you get as he gets more opportunities that you as you can see you can see you can do more and more That's what that's what anybody on the team. So I'm excited like I said and For his for his huge opportunity to get this year And it's gonna be a big one for the Saints Because is this skiing asked for more blocking from receivers is there more responsibility? Oh, yeah, if it's so I mean That's what I told you to we both have to block And I know we're not the biggest guys or the strongest but like I said we want to be on the field We got to be on the field for the play action plays All those things so we both got to go block D-Lime and block linebackers But that's what coming football so we both got to take take that next step in our game Is that somewhere there's like a payoff like you guys know you fly from play action next time? Yeah, so yeah, it's gonna be a huge payoff Like I said most of our office is based on play action all the inbreakers all the yards at the catch of plays

So we got to go in there at block and And like I said take that next step and be able to Be grateful for our team Like Dan here? Oh, yeah, so After I feel the weather out here, man, that's what I'm used to not using the war and it's out there Trying to catch my breath. It's a great opportunity for us You're gonna check for the seat family and friends and also the third Not yet, but they gonna come by her soon Appreciate you all now Bro Yeah All makes us better all all over of feel whether it's us inside or outside we got we got a great second There we got Jordan RGB, so Jermaine so like they're getting us better each and every day We got like the best DBs in the country. So I think there's gonna be a game where we face better DB's and what we got here

Corner Um, it depends on what type of day you have and stuff like that If you if you know you to the boundary gonna get hands on from our IGB, so you gotta be ready in the zone He's gonna break so you gotta get in and out of your break with him real fast No, one you gonna feel one out there You gonna hear him and you gonna feel on son. He make a play you gonna film For sure she were Brandon then Brandon talks to him more trouble. He gave me started. I could be a hothead. You just gotta give me started Molly he's he's gonna be good. He got the wiggle. He can do it all once he He just um he just he just got here So it's just a lot being thrown at him and stuff like that So when he relax get the ropes up he's gonna be really good We can get here as a freshman What's the easiest thing to pick up on right away and what's maybe the most difficult thing for you guys now going to development? The easiest thing is to pick up on your own five by an and stuff like that and the hardest thing is not getting in your head like we got

Because we got great receivers all around so you just can't like you have a bad day another guy having a great They usually can't get down there yourself and lose confidence Oh Oh, JJ's a dude so he goes out he's going about his business like a dude. He makes it played over He's gonna get get too happy. Uh mess up. You don't get too mad about it. He's just going like next play mentality I Like you can't you can't really game plan for somebody like that because you go in the slot you can expect a one thing But he's outside you gotta expect to hold another thing Coge was just talking to us about kind of his leadership role behind the scenes How have you seen that you started specifically about showing Jeremiah kind of the way but For you or for any of the guys. How has he been a Well JJ Our coach coach was good. He's been here longer than most of us We're really unprepared to coach or stuff like that. So whenever we need help we ask coach. He's a

Funny player. I think you probably want the funniest in the room So we look at him. He always can get a laugh. He always gonna pick us up whenever we're down I like G5 I like my league neighbors is baller right now. I like I like the Vantalla Justin and Mar For people who are I mean you're talking like a guy who's ready to like pop off a little bit here What are people gonna see from car now? They go to me play ball and talk my trash with it Oh, yeah, definitely Yeah, it's a guy I'm playing Florida. I just went to school down there What's your best advice to Jeremiah at this point? I'll tell him play ball keep your head Uh keep your head I keep your head I turn up and play ball you're going higher up and you go higher down, but it's life You know Know that you you still care and you still want to be a part of this You know just watch and practice There's a couple of little things we're doing different

Whether I'm communicating with Dumbar or Other people you know You're also talking with him and you get him pointers during the offseason just a constant communication How do you see him grow as a person you know In part is how he's approaching things how he getting ready for this season Is rookie you know, I think the thing with Keanu is he's more comfortable, you know You know it's not his first time around the track You know, it's actually like you can you know Catch his feet under him You know, I always think when you're in your rookie season you're going from bowl game. I don't know what's gonna play in a bowl game Sorry, Wisconsin. I don't know, but um, you know personally I just think when you go from bowl game to training for the combine to you know rookie minicant OTA is the you know many can I mean to train a camp the regular season you really don't get a time to really catch yourself Um, you know you understand to play book now. Um, you can be more vocal um, you know, I think with my absence the other guys absence

You know you need guys like that to step up and be ready for those opportunities So the surgery you have Yeah, same you have during the season Um, just tightened down everything um, you know my left side Uh, because I was overcompensating a little bit um, but you know it was it wasn't anything that's lingers You know, I'll say this uh a groin's not like an AC out. It's not like anything's ever gonna get affected again and you know You know feeling good Do everything squat and heavy Power and speed so you know it feels good to get after You think of what the team was able to accomplish it's not easy in terms of bringing guys like rushing You know, I think they're all good acquisitions, but you know, you never want to be known as a paper champ So can't win the offseason I think the work gets done out here on the field gets done in the classroom Um, it gets done training Uh, you know, and then you see where you're at in training camp and then you build on that

Um, you know, I think we got the right guys in the building Um, it's just about putting a completely month to Can't have typical is it to separate the business part of the game and the actual football player? Oh You know, you always want to you always have to treat it like a business because um You know one day it's gonna end and that's a good job It's not like in college where you know, we got four years guarantee Um, well now you don't even know what that I don't know it's crap The transfer portal portal, but um, you know, you have to I still have love for this game and I still work my tail off and I still put everything into it Um, and that's not gonna change But um, you have to know What you bring to the team and what you what you value is Great, you know, um, we got a new uh Got a new training staff and I'm still learning the warm up a little different uh, but uh, you know, I loved it

You know, just getting after it learning new guys Going through the same drills I've been doing by myself I actually like having more people around because like kind of go stir crazy crazy when it's just you and another guy You're like damn, I gotta go back up for another rep already And so You know, it's nice to be up here and get a chance uh My god Can we confident we'll get down with your emotion? Oh We'll try to remain pretty neutral because uh, I don't want to Be to either way um, all I know is I want to be here But we'll see what happens This is my last year here I've had a great career here, but uh The look forward to playing that shit Right side right side during the season left side and that was just tightened down my quarter my core muscle

Um, it wasn't the same as my ad doctor Um, you know, you can ask dr. Bradley Dr. Zuckerbron who uh, did the surgery as well um You know, if anything's gonna help me and you know make me a lot stronger from here on up You said you were training with another guy who have you had been working? Tyson, oh, I've been training with him for the last Eight years um, we've always trained together um, we got a trainer up north uh, shout cohali He's my guy Traded trained trained a heath miller breakeasel Multistudent guys that all respect um, and we've just been getting after Can we do a few guys historically 35 they paid big contract? Did he that held against you? I think there's not a lot of history behind it um, but you know from me I look as I'm not looking to be like anybody else You know my game is different from everybody else in the sleep, you know, um, I like to think you know I can play the run in the past and that's where I'm different

You know, um, I remember last year Mike T. You just brought to my attention You know the thing that's really cool is you watch powerlifters and you know my games build on power and technique And those guys go into the forties and so You know, that's what kind of research I'm doing behind the scenes, but um You know, I will see what happens It's there's not a lot of history, but um, I'm here to make history and I'm here to You know, I want to know just a little deer and you know, have a great season You have a set goal for yourself or how many years you want to play in the NFL You can just take things here right here You know It was it was tough answering that question right after the season I will say this guys. I can't keep answering that question right after the season That's not fair to the season that's not here to my family You know, but in my mind I got three years and I want to maximize them I want to play at a high level and I want to go deep into playoffs And you know, we got a good team and I'm going to do my part to be ready for all those situations

I have not even thought that far. I'm taking a day. Okay You know, I told my agent and we talked about it. I mean we were cool coming out here You know, I'll be here for many And then I'll be there for training I don't know what the work entails, but When we get there we'll cross that bridge Um, you know It was a conversation between me Omar and Mike T And there's certain guys are one helmet guys You know, and I want to be one of those one helmet guys And you know, there's a there's a hunger and desire there Um, but that doesn't mean just hanging it up and calling a career To me, I think You know, I got more bullets to fire and uh, you know, I'm excited to do that What's the movie last one you and Russell Wilson are going to be out there with Walter Man What's a man of the year? I saw Russ's um

on social media But um, I have an idea to see it I like the surprise happens when it happens, but uh, you know, it's it's cool to have another Walter Payton man of the year winner Um, you know, I think uh It's an honor to be there And I want I'll say one thing I won't be here I'm just telling you guys so it's not a big deal I won't be here because I have to do a Walter Payton man of the year thing on Thursday, so It's not like I'm skipping But uh, you know, it's an honor to be with uh Russ and you know You know, it's an honor of uh doing things in the community and doing great work and um, you know, the cool thing is As much as we get honored and nominated for these things The work doesn't stop and um, I can see that with Russ's foundation You know, we had an event for our foundation and um my mom was quick to you know tell Russ Hey, we need the partners around. I was like mom Let's just enjoy the event, but uh, you know, it's uh, it's really cool to you know be a part of a league group

All right, thank you. Thank you Chris Hicks, he's in kind of trying to push first job. Is that like a confidence booster? I mean, I'll say it was a confidence booster one reason I say that because You get like good coaches who believe in you and like they give you the tools to go out there and just play with confidence You know, not their doubting those stuff like you got your teammates who got your back like my first play when I got up there at Tennessee Like when to sail IGB and germane like first thing they say is like no worry. Just go out there play with confidence You know you know the tools as usual tools. It's got to make a play and we're about to play coming to you My racial time and show job. I mean just do it and then like Sam coach was like he gives me He puts me in a position like at the drills we put in the work you put in the 101 So just go out there and just perform at the highest level. How much better are you right now then maybe last month? I force for practice. I mean, I got way better just because I I've transitioned a little bit to the inside nickels fossil like now I'm actually trying like catch catch technique in this and often covers not it's not always press at the line So it's like not maybe to like move my feet move my hands like

See like what I gotta do just like just a case. I gotta go back in corner. I can I plan off now I'm very confident out there. Do you think that that was an actual fifth of you or have you had the kind of Because it's yourself the transition to that. I mean, I feel like it's natural for me because I feel like me Individually, I'm a fast learner Fast learner like coaches help us like learn fast and like because they're always honest about The techniques and stuff so you like you write down like you pick up all the things And then like when we get out here they coach us to like the techniques always you just go out there and play like fast spot And it's been like every like reversatility you're able to go out there and just compete Is that where you kind of stuff this spring or you kind of melt there? Uh, so I'm really been stuck there this spring a little bit right Whenever you get it to like other things I just bounce out there every once in a while Just like have just have fun See if I still got it every once in a while So it's as good as go out there to compete at most spots You mentioned the technique what technique you know Tipson and things if you had to pick up and learn from From the hands. I mean, this is why I always like you are because what preaches the ass feet hands like see it

You see it move your feet and then hit your hand with your hands on the man So it's like when you get like when you out there you able to like process like the way the receiver come off the ball looking at the hips and seeing like the way he moving Are you able to pick up like the row constant you can get out of that like so it's being like other coach walls for me Like as a player and just like him breaking out football to you like one-on-one It's like very beneficial. What was the hardest part of making that transition from outside inside? I really say like the corner you've got some cover two you cover three each or cover one So you mean it's easy but you got nickel that so many responsibilities you got to see like the row concepts You got to be able to process like dying those rows faster than what you got to do in that corner and just be able to like everything Quit like your transition you got like you got to move fast To move fast it's like game recognition Where do you think maybe you've run the balls since you got it? I'll definitely say I'll definitely say yes because how you get to like college I just lived a bit different high school. We don't got to worry about things like that when I want you get to like college in school like this

Like your recognition of plays and like you know your drops the way like the coverage is supposed to be played I understand all your teammates are supposed to have a feel it's like it is easy Oh Very talented Is it great? Do's a humble piece of humble guy great teammate very supportive as I got actually on around because you Can feed off your energy because you can see like we make it plays like he like ID me It's like IGB two-pointers So he's like when you get out there with guys like that with good energy Make you play a little bit harder and it's like And then like when you make a play is out there like it's helping you like it's being out there with him He's a good player one goes ahead first question There's a big question I For because you have so many kids come out of global and just play

Schools and they like like tracks a big part of it because To actually in a good everybody got a run track like it's mandatory You don't really get a choice. Do you able to just like get out here and like know how to compete and then like G like Game bills and mental toughness into you so like Have you like I heard now you got to be mentally tough because I mean Life's not gonna be easy. So it's like being out here Been up with the P when you down just pick yourself back up. I mean that's a dance down for me. That's a deal Beginning like he played a quarterback in high school too and he hasn't made a transition to Receiver at here. I'll stay and this he's helped me it's gonna be rough at first But he has to push me to get me to where I need to be when you think back and just like you're up bringing you know Coming from you know Africa being over here Just what do you how did all you feel call of that kind of helped mold you interview? Are now? I definitely definitely maybe like tough and like not afraid of like new change and he's like willing to just adapt to my environment What was it like for you coming in here as a freshman and getting to see this team go win an national championship those first few weeks here

Definitely was a high motivated, you know Being a freshman it wasn't really my team though. So like I really get it So that makes like push me like that once when it's my turn I got put in the word I wanted the same position but with a ring on my finger What did you learn from those guys just about what you need to do to have a chance to go accomplish what they did? I say he's gonna Get don't let the past like affect you like and just Yeah, I remember you got to remember you got put in the work. It's not easy at all by any means It's gotta be hard, but you have to everything into it What do you view as like the best attributes of your game that you're gonna bring to this team? I'll just say uh my My size my speed I can take the top off the defense and I can play it's tough and physical It's about that

I Was definitely change like because I was always on Myself one year I was hurt and my junior I got hurt during track So I was able to like I was a highly excluded anything and this time last year's like when my crew We really picked up and it's like it's been crazy like must have another like given it's leaving me up In my corner my coach is everything I just give you the motivation to go Oh, yeah, that's a big good before I even got a hosting offer and before I Was exactly actually Through with them a couple times in both Bella Box Yeah, I was working with I knew his head coach and he invited me to come and run routes and I actually ran routes for a table driving

If we was exactly headed like Uh, first came to me we had a lot more up. We got got together. I was the freshman class and he's growing He's working on everything. He's definitely got nice on this this corner back in the years The quarterback Yeah, yeah, they're definitely childhood You say as always say I should have been on it and they make it hard for you and just We played this high level competition practice and you go on the game like twice as easy to do the To the practice and he's pretty Is there a question Is there been kind of like a moment first? I realized oh wow these guys are these guys are really good at this Oh, yeah, just like I just first like on high school. I would just take some like reps and I've seen we just got yeah, I just had past speed and

We catching abilities like face separation and I come to college and go everybody's fast everybody's big So you have fun new ways to get open. It's really good for yourself to Hi, you're high Came alone I think it started in like fall camp just flashed in there got to like the first days We're in the wrong side. I'm just hollow Almost been great. I like him. I like his personality. I like them all feel nice. That's important Oh We just we just learn it right now. We just working out. He's just working right now. We just learn this to say

We think about Suja Hicks and what he can do in this defense Oh I think CJ Hicks you said what he can do in his defense or just what do you can do this season you can do this season I think see they gonna pop off this season for sure. I think this definitely gonna be one of his His year for sure got to Oh To me is it's no different. They both They both coach you and they both Like they hard on but they want you to be great. So I'm taking a different No, I don't think so You know about Think sonny a great year first before any day sonny a great year. I feel like he like the voice

You can be thinking something sonny. You just Word him out for the whole team to understand so sonny definitely a great leader You On to my own field or when it's leadership May like I say he's just just a great leader like you you a vocal guy And like you say it shows up on the field too, so he's It's hard to to follow after a guy who says something don't own and like they not own their stuff So sonny one of those guys who he's own his stuff so when he lead everybody listen There's obviously been long trim of linebacker success of a higher state say it again I've been a long string of linebacker success at Ohio State and I need to look at you know guy like sonny taking that next step this year I'm motivated. Are you gonna be part of that linear to be one of the great linebackers to play at Ohio State? Oh, I'm ready for it. I mean that's what I'm hopeful

Please I just know how to work. That's all I have to do Oh Give it effort and just Going east out of it. I want to say this with full respect When we see JJ and sonny it's like that makes sense when you're the third guy. We're you surprised to be named what What puts you in that same category? Yeah, I was a little surprised. I kind of have feeling because like it kind of like I mean, I kind of could have guessed it, but like I just I just knew like Um, I was one of my goal to talk some behind bug guy and I just couldn't work it So what you get it Um, it was really special right after a text no parents and um, they really knew what it meant until like the video came out and the question explained it to us for them So then uh, that's what it's only As Backing and playing off Did you just tell the difficulties I'm going back and forth not just like we were learning

Um, yeah, it's pretty difficult uh, especially dirt and game you have to put the whole mind around It's not easier in practice because it's Like several down, but like going left and right and gain It's pretty hard, but like Like in high school like I was it was every other player in backfield with triple out and so like I knew I knew it Um, uh, it was comfortable with it Sometimes I just take a Yeah, so like I gotta set the example um, and then like my first two weeks here I was like teaching them like So I'm like what they're expecting these players because I've seen some new place for them And even new defense like Like technique to prevent keepsin technique, but um just helping them out Because we need

Um, it came close to springtime they want to have Um, they just want to have a good five out there and like they won't play the best of it They just won't make a choice They're awesome. They're great a lot of a lot of eyes and it's awesome because everyone's right is watching something. It's not like Uh, someone's only watching this place, so you know what's going on It's awesome uh, they can they tell you like everything because they know like what's the left side had with Uh, like coach Johnson and coach Dinky's watching left and coach But when it feels a lot from right so like You really you know, it's going on, but How's the experience that you got the big reps and the big games all that helped like coming into the song? It really boosts my confidence um and like And I can like lead the young guys to because I know it's going on Because they really don't really miss this first time spring so like to be on the My stuff's like just that leadership of the Resortility has also been mentioned a lot It's revolved both sides with all playing in different spots

You know, I read on that Yeah, um, this Yeah, I can beat that question in time. Can you just talk about the versatility that coach Talking a lot about that up close as a lot of you guys in different spots being able to live yeah, so like I mean you all seen in last year We lost two stars all maybe started so like really guys need to stepped up and like go to season I didn't know I was playing started Left guard and then I didn't really know I was going to bounce over the right and what a donny news and bounce out some tackle So like it really helps Everyone like I think a lot of guys this season are playing more positions and it's gonna help us in What have you learned from donny and jogger? Sat in all family just like technique wise um, they really helped me like pretty snap stuff and my no one like what's going What you got it's I can't my I'm in place and stuff Right, thank you. Thank you. Thanks for letting me stack another one Nick how do you manage your own expectations and you have 14 pressures, but you're not putting it in the sack numbers that you'd like to get

um I think just stay in the course and continuing to get better which I think I've done um And then hopefully that day comes where where the stats come but I think I affected the game a good amount last week, so um That's that's good for the team We Yeah, no, that's tough especially because we have calls that could negate that um, and we just didn't really Like they ran in the zone read a few times and we just didn't find an answer to it But yeah, I mean, I definitely thought he was going to hold it or keep it, but uh, I got to do my job

Especially in a big moment like that you can't go out of your job But um, we definitely have a plan for the zone read this time, so Hindsates 2020 That was yeah Yeah, yeah, I mean there's a couple of variables I think the tight end came across so that changes some things for the guys behind me Um, so I honestly don't know who it is, but I just Try to try to make it decisive For the guys the ideas This time around Yeah, yeah, I mean like any game that you played a team before you watched tape and learn from it This is this offensive line mentors they get kind of less

I guess less in trouble for holding or is it just depending on the last year for sure Last year they had two of the top pennilized guys in the league But uh doesn't look too bad this year, but we'll see Is there more crews or their referring crews that kind of let it go more than others Seems different every week, so let's see. Do you count your steps throughout the day? Is that why you use a scooter? Ah, that's kind of how it started. I don't count them but I just Takes a little off the legs. Why not a lot of walking from building to building Good morale boost. Yeah, it's good to have them And say to watch a lift It's definitely a little emotional, but uh

At this point it's just a game So we're just looking at the tape trend to learn from it A lot of similarities from last year. You knew guys, but uh Really good defense and Obviously You said it's a little emotional. Do you try to like tap into those emotions or do you kind of want to just put the distractions to the side and treat it like another football game? Yeah, the latter Oh I try to prepare like him. I like that from him. He prepared when he prepared he intentional so That's definitely something I try to do like him better like you said. I'm I'm leaving. So When it comes up preparing and being intentional with studying and hopper curtain practice No, Cody Lee

Just being honest like you can't be more of those guys when they ask you what happened to you try to lie and then you get a film It's obviously obviously lying here I can't wait the last time that happened. So that's a good Those big shoes to fill with Cody down from a leadership standpoint What is he taking out the door with it? So Yes, sir. I think it's definitely some big city to feel because Cody was a great player great leader He's like with the quarterback and defense. So it's definitely some big city And like close to our mindset though you gotta be you are not Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely that's for see When did you feel like you lost Last year I think it started in like fall camp just flashed in there after like the first games

We're in a wrong style. I was hallowed Oh, it's been great. I like him. I like his personality. I like a more feel and that's not so poor Oh We just we just learn it right now. We just working out. He's just working right now. We just learn this to say We think about CJ Hicks and what he can do in this defense Um Think CJ Hicks you said what you can do in his defense or just what are you gonna do this season? You can do this season I think CJ gonna pop up this season for sure. I think this definitely gonna be one of his his year for sure. Got to Um To me is there's no difference. They both They both coach you and they both Like they hard on you, but they want you to be great. So I don't think there's no difference

Oh No, I don't think so I Um think sonny a great year first before anything sonny a great year for like he liked the voice You can be thinking something sonny just You can Where you know for the whole team to understand so sonny definitely a great leader That's You Want to talk about home field or when it's leadership, but like I said, he's just just a great leader like you You're a vocal guy and like you say it shows up on the field too, so he's It's hard to follow after a guy who says something don't own and like they not own their stuff So sunny one of those guys who he's own his stuff so when he leave everybody listen

Because obviously has been long string of linebackers successful. I was saying I've been a long string of linebackers So I don't hire state now you look at you know about like sonny taking that next up this year I'm motivated or you'd kind of be part of that linear to be one of the great linebackers Played Ohio State. Oh, I'm ready for it. I mean That's what I'm hopeful So I think you talk about early in the week of trying to balance out of not getting too high on your motion How does that motivation for you show up on an idea that you basically is more preparation more film how to what does that look like for you? Yes, just really an edge and everything you do I feel like and You know carrying that Kind of pissed off mentality. I mean obviously not letting it affect you in a negative way, but you know making it You know reminds you hey like I'm gonna go the extra inch here. I'm gonna I'm gonna you know see if I can find something extra on film late at night or I'm gonna you know go over this you know Sheet again plays one more time like all these little things that you know, I just you know, we just can't let that what happened last time happened again We're only this week. I was talking about how you play back here football

You tend to be playing in the Rose Bowl. You grew up in big ten country What does it mean to take part in this game? What does it mean game mean to you? Grown up. It's a tell man. It's it's crazy to you know that God has blessed me and put me in this position to be here and be the quarterback in the Rose Bowl You know a game that I grew up watching every single year Some unbelievable games that I've watched in the Rose Bowl some classics um and just to be a part of it is a blessing and I think we're all we're all humbled to be here and we're all Understanding of how Unbelievable this opportunity is and we're not taking it lightly because um, you know, again, it's a business trip And you know the only thing that we're looking at is you know, we win this game. We go on a playing couple so You know, it's really exciting You know crazy that we're here and on that we're the part of this but you know can't let it be too big Just you know, gotta go out there play football I think so I think you know, you go back and watch the film and

um, you know, I just didn't you know and I'm I'm critical of myself and I think we all are here um, you know, but I just look at it and I'm like man I don't think anyone this year beat us You know, I think we beat ourselves very tight and you know, you watch and you know, we had to turn over You know in our own 20-hour ride and they got the kick you know, that's two possession Just the first half and then obviously the way the game ended like No, they're and we're still one point away That's that's what what hurts and it was a you know hostile environment in their place You know, I'm just I'm just thankful that you know, I said this This is the other day, but we're thankful that we get through Do you feel like Back to two weeks ago Collectors and confidence by this They may be one You know, yeah, put it all together. Yeah, what is your sense of team From that aspect is it feel a little bit different. Yeah, I think you know a game like that you know, it's still confidence

Because it shows us we're capable Um, but you can't be complacency and it can never be Comfortability has to be confidence and drive and that's what it has to Urges to be like man like we can do this Uh, we play it our best if it was anyone in the country that can hang with us But we have to be on our game and make sure that we can't let anything I just you know at the end of the day, I just want to keep the keep the ball moving down the field You know getting in a rhythm. I think it's gonna be big for us And I think we did a really good job at that in Tennessee game Whethering storm a little bit early in the recall early calls that we got the bell to sound that game And kept us going but regardless we kept the drive building for me Keeping us on schedule take care of the ball and making sure that We can hurt on third down in our situation. We good

You know, we do all that all that stuff Obviously for me, you know, I want to be these guys And drive driving machine because We got when we're on our stuff. I mean we're our stop so We just got to make sure that we finish our preparation right these at least last two days and go out there and put our best reward Thank you guys. You come on this way Energy Some trees were doing for years, but the year when I spent my own He brought a lot of energy Happiness in the room which is natural energy to where I was have to focus on Me, you know, I didn't have to make sure other Other guys are you know feels the type of way when they came in here because hump brought that you know the hunts not here But I saw when you did for room. I want to be

That guy to make sure it's an optical practice everybody's I'm taking a field team on period. You know, it's a low day Feeling Trigger I want to bring that because that's what we did each other So I want to do that. I want to bring that energy on make bring more guys Yeah, I'm gonna do that from day one I kind of I wanted to do that from day one Talking to him and obviously it's that time I spent the obviously some before until today started Just being in my self-esteem about what the room needs You know because I know I Renewal as one of yours You know my offense is that we need a guy like that is gonna make sure the O-line is picked up Ready to go every day. I was held accountable little things are having a practice of people

Saying anything and how I believe maybe different than Somebody else maybe you know like a practice at least like the legal positivity You know, I mean so but he the energy yeah, wouldn't be on just though. I'd be on So I was kind of how Go on Really my whole life on again. I felt Team captain like specifically and I felt I wasn't a captain in high school Wasn't a captain in college But I'll make a joke on high school. So I feel like I'm not gonna be captain But that would be awesome, you know, but you know that happens. I'd be great But not either way I want to assume a world as a captain from the Respect of the guys until the video awards and get back in that way. Yeah, I mean, I can't say that I mean, I guess the biggest thing is that I felt like how

You used to move past, but it didn't take just the first LTAs and took Train and left and right once this season because I know what was going to be So Gramps Just to give back to feeling like myself for the one LTAs And now hopefully but now like today specifically just changing some small things I'm talking about along coach Busting things I can do my feet to get to that to sell my traditional angle that I love to sit on Thought even I thought I felt thought I felt great already But okay, I felt even better. Sorry, the more excited tomorrow now get on my feet back and how I like the right side and on the left side So I'm excited. I mean obviously I feel like In the league whether I left the right there's still going in Premier guys obviously the high expectations for the left and right tackle But um, there's definitely like the A level of energy

Definitely taking the humor because now can I apply side that's the as the tackle you know, so So yeah, I would say in terms of communication as far as this even outside of facility Just stuff like that like really crazy that tackle court back Bonnie the more off the field I think has been something that's Even the cool I got the text one day Is You know, yeah, I've been training both I've been training both you know, I I asked after the season there like honestly You know, we'll talk you some great season and I just got a text I have this with the free agency Then so I was like, you know what I have a whole season right tackle So if I get the word I'm going I'm standing right tackle I did before I built on that bus. I was trying to let tackle now As if we're going to be left tackle and I'd rather do that than train all right time good to call

I don't switch my feet You know what I mean? So I'm like let me just prepare an advance. I was like, you know I think occasionally on third down there be a lot of twists And I think that was my mindset for like the first half of the season Like I didn't have to go once again with some pros like oh my gosh, they did that. I kind of figured like okay This is this is the type of rush man again. This is how this guy usually rushes If I get the vibe this type of ends like the rush you know tackles that first year guys you got the cream in your patch on Already know what it was gonna be already know will be every stud and honestly just knowing that's kind of an advantage To so you're not you're not you're not oh, they brought the twist on my side again It was never air goblin Well, they come up on my side three plays in a row and two minute I knew that You know what I mean? So I'm watching more everybody else and he rarely really really goes out there occasionally third down

You know what I mean? So That's kind of it's also kind of an advantage in a way, but it's also exciting. I'm gonna get the hardest look you know, so it's a real real rest Really out on our way to kind of process That I was like hey when I tell me Let me know about I'm just gonna train it. I was training all left To TAs I guess if I didn't hear anything about the days out of came in like So you know what I mean Cuz just like I'm cool with training both continue. I would have been cool training both continually But I feel like anybody any position will feel like okay You want to as soon as possible Would it would have been harder to work both very good to you No They're definitely but in terms of the

Definitely a lot faster Stay on one side, but I think having that the weeks that we had to transition with seasons over I'm like respond Trying to get up to it Things at a time right now My mom says you know just go out there my day just dominate the person I'm so front of me No, just do what I've been doing for the last Two to three weeks I should say but you know they play man on man, so I'm just ready for the challenge I mean feels good

Just say somebody going out there and play man on man. Guess Ohio State receivers is something crazy But you know we just ready for the challenge. They said it not chasing a game plan, but we gotta go out there and show them the reason why not to play man on man I Mean I don't really my if I be on the cover I be on the cover me. It's not really a big deal to me May definitely be a blessing for sure just to be on the cover of a game, but no, it's not really a dream I'm it's a dream of mine, but I don't really think too much of it I Mean no, not yet probably hit me after this easy no just no planning the call to football playoffs as a freshman planning the Rose Bowl as a freshman

planning a card and bow not in the national championship. I mean it's a blessing for sure, but I haven't hit me yet My favorite catch I would say We play Michigan State on the one I call over to defenders definitely probably my favorite for sure or you go The one from Iowa as I say and as a parliament too I Don't I mean yeah, like you said it's pretty frustrating me having again that I had in the Rose Bowl in the Rose Bowl It they're coming to the Cardinal just them doing different things chasing their scheme up for against me But I mean like you said whatever I could do the mate. I mean help the team win

It's not really a big deal for me along as we win. That's all I really care about and it got us to national championship To To
