What makes my home to cut above the rest if you look at him? I think his arm strength is able to get the ball far distances really fast. So you don't need that much separation. And then his way creates plays. He likes to pump fake people and make a mess and run for first downs when you need him. His running ability is kind of underrated. He's stout so he's tough to bring down. And he makes good decisions. So that's a defensive moment. My plan for last week kind of feeling you guys going into a game like this, didn't mean coming home to do that. It's huge yeah. Last week we talked about being a must win and we got it done. But we have to play like that every week. It's not a one off. We're excited to be back home for a couple weeks and need to stack another one. How do you manage your own expectations when you have 14 pressures

but you're not putting in the sack numbers that you'd like to get? I think just staying the course and continuing to get better, which I think I've done. And then hopefully that day comes where the stats come. But I think I affected the game. Good amount last week. So that's good for the team. Nick, I'm sure you guys are super warm. There are plenty of players you think about. And Dan, probably, are we done better there? What if there's a third in line on the home's run over time? Is that one particularly, or is it worth a one? So it's not a guarantee you're going to stop them. But is that one particularly? It's like the ball to get over. Yeah, no, that's tough. Especially because we have calls that could negate that. And we just didn't really, like they ran in the zone read a few times. I mean, just didn't find an answer to it. But yeah, I mean, I definitely thought he was going to hold it or keep it.

But I got to do my job, especially in a big moment like that. You can't go out of your job. But we definitely have a plan for the zone read this time. So hindsight's 2020. That was, yeah. But then you like mid-player kind of like. Yeah. Did a shrug bring out a solid character? Yeah. Even the pins at what should have happened? I mean, there's a couple of variables. I think the tight end came across so that changes some things to the guys behind me. So I honestly don't know who it is. But I just tried to make it decisive for the guys. Is the idea a lot from that room just watching in terms of how you try to attack room? There's time around from your experience. Yeah, I mean, like any game that you played a team before you watched the tape and learned from it. Does this often define mentors that get kind of less,

less in trouble for holding or is it just depending on the kind of rules? Last year for sure. Last year they had two of the top penalized guys in the league. But it doesn't look too bad this year, but we'll see. Is there more crews or are there referring crews that kind of let it go more than others? I mean, it seems different every week. So we'll see. Do you count your steps throughout the day? Is that why you use a scooter? Ah, that's kind of how it started. I don't count them, but I just take a little off the legs. Why not? It's a lot of walking from building to building. They've always been doing a team and having worked with your saw back. How do you think they're going to get out of this? Good morale boost. Yeah, it's good to have them. I don't know what to say to watch them play. Recent history is in chief. It's just something to have with the game. It's just been like they go back and be looking at them on three out of there. And looking at them. I'd say. It's definitely a little emotional, but at this point, it's just a game.

So we're just looking at the tape, trying to learn from it. A lot of similarities from last year. A few new guys, but really good defense and offense that obviously has 15 back there. Always dangerous. You said it's a little emotional. Do you try to like tap into those emotions or do you kind of want to just put the distract? Is this the side and treat it like another football game? Yeah, the latter. Really playing as much. So I just wanted to get like more experience under my belt. So I can bring younger guys with me because I've been through a lot. One of those younger guys, we're seeing it out here. It's the first time it's heard all these last years. What have you seen from Lill? Because I've been feeling like last year we all forgot about it because he was hurt. Now he's running almost a second man out behind you and tied. What have you seen in the back of those lines? Well, as a workhorse, he's going to stay quiet. He's going to work hard. That's all I love about him. He focuses. He don't really talk much. He's going to get the job done. Do a job right. He rarely has any mistakes.

So what would be a successful season? A national championship. I ring when all the games we don't want to lose anything. We got a mindset that we can't be beat. And we just got to go show it. It's like, is that mindset different? It seems like you guys expect a national championship every year. This year, even more so, you guys have all come back for this. You guys have all decided, like, that's not the only difference. Is that, is it going to keep feeling different? Or is there not really any difference? It's just the same work. It's definitely a difference. Everyone working harder. We noticed our last run. Most of us don't have any years after this. So we got to go bigger, go home, and we're not trying to go home. So it's finished big. We know what you guys think of Michigan. But when you look at what they did, they won the national championship. And you guys took them down to the final minute. Right? You know what I mean? You were right there. Something goes a little different. You guys could have won that game against them. Does that tell you anything about, like, that, hey, you guys want to win a national championship?

But you played to the 59th minute with the team that won the national championship last year. Like you're that close. So I'm saying, we just work harder. That's kind of coach makes of saying, you know, nobody cares, just work harder. Like those, you know, one plate Georgia is the same thing. Yeah. Last, last play, you know, they went on the win in 90s. So we just got to get over that hump at the end of the season. I think we'll be fine. How frustrating is that? You're that close against the last two national titles. Of course, as you know, it's frustrating. But you can't change the outcome. You can't really dwell on it. You just got to, you know, come back and work harder. Do things better than you did last year. And hopefully the outcome will change. And as you get older, you kind of learn. I thought I was working harder than you always find out there's a little more that you could have been doing. Yeah, definitely. I mean, that's how that's what growing up is basically in college. And I thought, freshman year, I was working as hard as I could. But now I look back at it. I really wasn't working hard at all compared to what I'm doing now. So just to learn anything. If the stamina is a 16, then the answer to like,

what do you need it to be to be your best? Uh, 85. 80, 85? I mean, I can, it's all on me. I think it's a little higher. I was just trying to be funny. But I mean, it's all on me. I just got to run harder in shape. So, that's the stamina. It's been a thing, yeah. The idea of a potential is 16 and 17 and 17. I think, I think, I think we, I definitely can last. You know, we got to get the young guys that come along with us. We can't play 50 snaps again. That's just too much on our bodies. Just everybody. Like, online, D-line. We got to get those younger guys to play, you know. Get that pieces on the D-line and the online and everywhere else. So we can last that long run. Speaking of the light game, I'm a snap. If you like playing that many snaps again last year because I don't know. I don't know if any of us were really expected to be playing that many snaps.

Ah, yeah, I did. Unless we were like winning by like, online. I thought, like, there are no moments you know, I can go sit down or something. But we're playing them big games, like, you know, Notre Dame too, or those kind of games. Of course, I want to be in, because I know I can contribute. And I won't want to put that on anyone else when I know I can get the job done. What stands out about Tade and McDonald? Is he got the game? You guys, it looks like a game. Oh, yeah, definitely. K-Mac is a K-Mac's animal. Y'all, you haven't really seen it yet, but in practice, he shows it all the time. He's just, he's growing right now. He has to work, I think. He just has to get, you know, in the playbook. Things like that. You guys are about the exact same size. Listen, you're both listening to 6-3, you're 3-27, he's 3-26. Yeah, he's very often. I kind of look at him like my junior, but, you know, K-Mac, he's going to be a great player. He's just got to develop more and get into playbook. So really a lot on you, older guys. There's that large group of young guys, and then there's these seniors in the back. Is that part of your task for this year to bring those guys along as well? Yeah, definitely. We got to be leaders. Like I say, we got to have them play this year.

We can't just play all the snaps. They got to get in there and get some work. And we got to get them right during the all season. So they can play. And not just play, they want to like contribute, like make plays, tackle, and sex. It's a state that I don't want to be special. Yeah, yeah. It seems like these guys get big things. Each one of the freshmen class is going to be bigger up later. Do those guys kind of, does it kind of allow you on the cell at the first? Yeah, they definitely need some big dudes. And they all work hard. I haven't really seen much of something a day to pass on. But throughout the workouts, they've been working hard. They're determined. I would say that. And it looks like they're ready to work at making. I'm going to support this, though. It feels like there's a lot of great defense. That you have big athletic defense attackers who can eat up space. But also move, you know, right? That is that. Is that an inquirement maybe for a great defense? To have guys like you that have some fault. Also a great team. I think that is definitely. I think if you look at the last couple of nice and championship winners,

like Team up North, they got two good detaco, two athletic detacos. Look at Georgia, two athletic detacos. I think that's definitely neat if you want to go on that big run and beat those big teams. If you think about this, they won't defied by the defense attackers. What's Georgia? Jordan Davis and DL Carter. What's Michigan? It's Chris Jenkins. Couple more questions. You know, it's funny how you understand it because you play it. But I feel like sometimes I don't know. Are people realizing how important defense attackers are? A little bit more than they used to? I think so. I think they're starting to develop more and more of these like freakish detacos. Yeah. Like in the combine, just now you see in like those guys, they're moving four to four seven eights and things like that. So we'll see. And when you think about this freakish attack attack, how do you think you fit into that mold of that kind of player? You watch that and say, yeah, that's me. Yeah, definitely. I think I'm top notch when it comes to detacos. But I don't want to, you know, get a big head, but you know, watch it come on.

I watch it do the drills. I have tape to you like you're looking like my film. So I think I'm up there with all those. Do you become like a artist who comes to the bad guy passes the thing away? I mean, you're going to spring practice. You're not doing as much a weapon. How do you work on that? Do you have like a goal? I don't remember how many that last trick like you have a goal. How many do you want to have? I mean as many as I can have, I think I have more than that. But I think they're counseling. I think they're counseling some of them. And it's some of them where I like just missed it. So, but I think we work on drills matching the hand. I think that's goes big. And I think that's what we do as a D line, you know, just affecting the quarter of the against any way you can. It's just great for the defense, you know, just that little thing covering his eye, you know, he might throw it. A little bit to the left to our players. So, it's something that you really, really have to work on. You do that with what you do. It's really, that's one of the things that you've maybe worked on the most.

You can bring your time here because there are a few guys that I've seen. Like, oh, that past few guys. We don't have to ask for this style. We kind of kind of expect it for the second. I think I just have like an eye for the ball kind of. I kind of just look at the quarterback and just, I see him like load up. I just try to get in his ways. And sometimes he just throws it to me. I'm here to do it to the I've stayed quarterbacks. I'm here to get back down passes. I mean, they get frustrated, but you know, we're a team, you know, we're just getting back. I should lot of, a lot of different backs, man. And just learn to grow for them. You got to pick your top three backs. You got to go right now. One of the two. Uh, I don't really have a top three, but I'll give you, I'll give you one. I would say, say, Juan Gibbs and I like McCaffrey. Although he was injured this year. I like McCaffrey. Who's the best back in this drive? Best back in this drive. I'll lead that up. The yard. That's y'all decision.

Playing well, Howard. What I'm going to remember most. Uh, we're a Howard, man. He's just such a great lead, such a great leader, man. It's just like in moments where, you know, usually a lot of players, they fold, man. He was just always calm and relaxed, man. And he just the leader that he was, man, that's one thing I'm going to remember about him. Yeah, he's shoot. He's going to be really good, man. He's on Coastalog. Coastalog, I think he got the transfer in as well from West Virginia. Just that one, two punch with them both as well. They're going to be really good backs. And so James, people's, man, he's smart. The way that he goes about his business, man, he's mature. And so, man, he's growing, you know, just as a person and as a player. And so, man, yeah, definitely Ohio State, you know, that running back room is in great hands. I was right there. I got looking at the UFC spot and put on this top of the base in personality and the approach. I'll keep that open. I'll keep that open. Same man. Coach, Coach Hartline, man, he's full of energy, man.

And he's creative as well, you know, just learning from him as well, you know, trying to run more outside the backfield. Was being able to learn from Coach Hartline. And so, he's definitely creative at what he does. And he brings a lot of energy to the team as well. And so, I think they'll do really good. Just in Tensady, man, then Tensady, how to playoffs. Every game, man, it's like the Tensady got, you know, higher and higher. And so, you know, being able, I know in the lead, it's the same thing. Even if it's not the playoff, just every game and the Tensady keeps getting higher and higher. And so, yeah, you just, I know you got to bring it, you know, each and every day and come in and work. And just like Ohio State, you know, I definitely feel like Ohio State. They definitely do a good job of preparing us for that. You know, I just remember even before going through this process, I'll talk to a lot of players before that. And they told me a lot of just about how much Ohio State prepared them, you know, for the NFL. And so, yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, I know I took a couple of days off after the National Championship. And then, shoot, right after that, I'm writing sample Florida and I'm writing to it. And so, yeah, I think where I trained, I trained at your birth performance. I think it's called the House of Athlete or the Compound now. They did a good job, man. They're just bringing us in and the way they went about training us, man. They did a really good job. I mean, that would be cool, you know, the Bucking Nears. No, I haven't. Temple of Tampa. Tampa, nice. It's a nice city, man. Really nice. The 40, the broad and the vert. I've been on the races and awesome lockers. Do you speak to your mentality of like when you've got a linebacker or something like that? You're thinking that you and you're in training for your mom? Yeah. Yeah. No, man. It's really all about technique. And then it's about mindset as well. And so, I say, you know, it's for the love of my brother. It's for the love of Will Howard.

It's for the love of the receivers who I got on the perimeter. Just making sure, you know, first of all, my quarterback doesn't get sacked. And I told Will, I think it was before the first game. I was like, I got your brother. It's, I said, man, I'm not going to let you get hit, you know, and so, I don't know if I don't know if I gave up a sack. I'm not sure that, but I know if I did, I haven't given up too many. And so, man, it's for the love of my brother's, though, man, making sure that the ball get in their hands, you know, the guys on the outside and making sure they get fed. You had to hit the practice field later today. What is something you've been working on right now when you need to? My game, you can't really work on this, you know, in all season, I feel like it's more so, you know, you got to put the pads on. You got to go through some inside run, you know, maybe it's really just continuing to run through tackles. And so, that's I feel like that's one of the areas in my game. You know, I want to continue to get better. I feel like I did a good job of that in my senior year, and so I just want to continue to build on that. So, you get what I said? Yes, I did. Yes, I did. I didn't mean to look like that.

I'm not in the RL. You get back in nursing and you get back in the RL. I did mean with New Orleans as well. I never got that comparison. Actually, I know I have a Camarra shoe. Yeah, man, I have a Camarra great, great back, man. Just what he does and those 101 matchups, he's dangerous, man. And he's so smooth. He's so smooth as well. I'm not going to lie. He's smooth. So, did you play with him? Yeah. Yeah. Inside zone from stack, being able to hit that thing downhill. And I'll say the next one is probably just an option out of the backfield. You know, a man and man coverage. You're getting on that linebacker and so. Yeah, I say the man the biggest thing is the way that he carries himself, man. And the way that man, he approaches the game.

He comes in with the mindset, you know, he's going to work every single week. You know, every practice, you know, he's working hard. You know, even shoot. I don't know. Every good thing. I think he had it. Every game was a good game for him, man. But still, man, he always has the mentality to mindset that, you know, he's going to come in each and every day. He's going to continue to work and get better, man. So, he's definitely, man. He's going to be a special player, man. He really is. Man, a lot of ups and downs, man. It's just how you respond to adversity. And I feel like that's something that God has definitely helped me to do better. It's just, I'm not having something to lean on now. You know, I remember before I met him, you know, going through those adversity, I had nothing to run to. You know, you can run to people, but they still can't. It's not too much. They can't truly help you. You know, I feel like, you know, I feel like the only person that can truly help you is your relationship with Jesus Christ. And so, being able to lean on him, you know, he gives you, in those moments, where it's tough, you know, where it's slow.

And when you're behind the scenes and you're going through things that people don't know about, he gives you that peace and comfort, you know, even in those moments, man, where it's so hard that you can't explain. It's like, man, I'm going through this, but like, how am I still filled with this internal joy? You know, how do I have so much peace in this situation? And so, that's something that only Jesus Christ can give you. And so, Man, those guys have such a great mentality, man. I just really love their mentality, especially Q as well. You know, I talked about Will Howard, his leadership, but Quincham mentality, man. That boy just, yeah, that boy just gifted, you know, you see, you know, sometimes he put in a situation where he looked like, you know, he should have a negative five yards. And as soon as you know it, you know, he, that running through somebody, still farming somebody, and she, that's a gain of 10.

So, I think, yeah, man, I think it's just like, he's just gifted, man, too, beyond it. He's just gifted, you know, he's a big back, you know, he's strong, and so, you know, he's able to do those things. Yeah, man, it's definitely, you know, I look at his game, and I want to, you know, at the same time, I want to learn from Quincham. You know, I want to look at his game, and it's like, man, where can I get better at as well? You know, that's the type of player I am. I'm always looking to get better, man. I'm always looking to grow as a player. What's your last, what's your tweet? Jule and San. Oh, yeah, he's going to be a great, but he's going to be a great quarterback, man. He's so, so accurate. And so, he's definitely, man, I know Coach Dez is definitely going to get him right. Just, you know, continuing to grow as a leader, continuing to grow as a player. And so, he's going to be really good for our state. I know just the quarterback position. I feel like, you know, the quarterbacks in the past, they've definitely been vocal.

And so, I feel like that's something that they're definitely going to ask of Julian San as well. It's to be that vocal leader and lead the offense and lead the team. He has a build like JK Dobbins. And I kind of see them, you know, similar, similarities in their game as well. And I know JK Dobbins, he was a great running back. I feel like he's not talked about his none. A lot, but man, his career here, you watch his highlights is great. I remember before I recruit, before I committed here, I remember watching JK Dobbins highlights like every, every one of his years here, like, four or five times. And so, man, he was such a great back. And I feel like, you know, when I see JK Dobbins, when I see James people, I see similarities to both of their games. I feel like they play the same. And so, appreciate you all. Yeah, I'll be going.

Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you. Thank you.

I think I got a lot bigger. I'm like 240, you know, like 244 right now. Last year, I played it like 236 to 37. What does it feel like 244 or better? You feel like almost a different machine out there. Yeah, like what does it feel like to be running around out there like you are with more, more back? I just feel like I'm like like, like, more downhill, like stronger. Like I'm taking all the bloods better. It's bigger. Maybe that's not the correct term, but to think you're going to be playing much more than you did even last year. And you played quite a bit last year instead of looking at straight in your head about being on the field that much more. I think it's just got to get ready to just play 30 more snaps. But how would you describe how much you're looking forward to it from an age standpoint? Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready for it. I'm ready for it. The text is open. It's a rematch. But it's not really two different teams compared to last time you all played and stuff.

How has that enhanced this camp for you and this team getting ready for the where an opener of that magnitude? Yeah, with an opener like that, we've been emphasizing it a lot. We know we got coming. So we know we got to do what we prepared for it. Already just broadly. I think Riley ready to play right now. He advanced freshman like he ended up here in the book. He stood in like he advanced and his measurements was crazy. Like he saw like the saw line to him. Or you said you're ready. What was that process like during last season? Could you feel yourself becoming more and more ready? Yeah, because that's pretty much what my role was. Just whenever I was needed, I had to step up. So I feel like that's what built me into me being able to say I'm ready for this year. When you say ready, is it more a physical thing? Is it a mental thing? When I say ready, I think it's pretty much like everything physically, mentally, mostly. I think I'm there. A different is that feeling this year than last year?

Asked I one more time? How different is that responsibility? That you know you were a home player. I feel like it's a way bigger responsibility with me having to step up this year. But I kind of go about it the same way like last year. I was intentional with everything I did. I feel like this year is going to be the same thing. It's probably a little bit more. Somebody you read for them. And what were? How's everybody where you watch? I say, describe like, when you think of me, you think of like a bully, like a silver bullet. I don't really bully. I'm always on the ball. That's how I like to play a thing. No, I ain't got to be my nickname, but. Oh, yeah, yeah.

I'm just like the defense. I feel like we got like you said, we got a lot of freedom and we moving around a lot. A lot of the terms is like, no, I don't know. I don't really not answer that. You can go on your instincts a little bit more, maybe. That's not so thinking of too much. I don't even know if I say that because there's a lot of thinking going on, but it's like, I just like his deep. I like how the pressure deep is. I like what you got going on. What was it? Sad when CJ left the way. Now I wanted to my sad. I was kind of like happy for me. Yeah, that's what you want. No. That's my dog. I'm not saying it. I'm missing a little bit, but I'm happy for you. Well, don't think you go ahead one last but coach days talked a lot about the guys who played some last year, but maybe weren't the starters and the hunger for.

That wasn't maybe your national championship. You guys will win your own. How much do you feel that is a guy who certainly contributed last year, but will be in this bigger role and along the summer year your classmates? Yeah, I do feel like. Yeah, I do feel like I did win the national. But like you said, my role wasn't same as how's going to be this year. So yeah, I definitely want to want to go get another one experienced that like feeling maybe on the field. A lot more place. Great. Oh, Bill. Thank you very much. Thanks. Let's go. What's kind of talk to Larry Johnson, Barty? How did you feel back then? I think it applies to me just pretty much. Just because I don't like I'll talk to my manager's let my play do what it does. So I have to say much brother. Have you been on what to do? What is it about the Hamilton brothers? You don't talk much but let their play. Do you talk to him? Where's that comes from? I think it just comes from just demeanor. Just you know, it's all been a lot. You really mess up with one on it. Take me to stuff like that. So be a little just phone in and be able to play and then doing less talking and let your play make you feel happy.

What's the best advice you ever got from your big brother? Older brother. Basically very much is like saying this is joy the days. Every day is not promised you know I could be over in the instance. So being able to take myself from the field every single day in the joy every single day in the matter how hard it is or in pain I am just going to say that. I'm here and these days are the same. I know I've asked you this a couple times in the last couple of years. Why is it that you came on not late but you're mean for me. In the fact of the standpoint getting on the field. Why is it you came on the lake? Both you and your brother. I think you just got a lot of talented guys here. So I mean it's hard to be on the field. It's hard to understand like being here are the great players. Sometimes in the champion we know but just be able to understand it's your time to come and throw away. I got my time to be able to take advantage of the full understanding. Now I'm here and just being able to fully understand and take time. Really take the edge. I'm just going to take the edge and I'm going to take the edge. Jason you guys are coming off of obviously two big wins but now you're facing a Philadelphia team that's pretty good and mobile quarterback.

How does one deal with a mobile quarterback? Yeah definitely just got to be have great Russia awareness. Jaylen he's a head of a quarterback. So we definitely know what we're getting ourselves into. How important is I guess to move on to the next play because even when you have great Russia awareness they're going to be some times where he might make a play anyway. If it's all I mean I know in my mind it's just going to be just keep rushing and keep rushing. Keep rushing because you never know when you can crowd him and get him. So that's what you're just going to deal with when you deal with a scrambling quarterback. Some time they go left, some time they go right, some time they're going to try to hit up the beast. You just got to try your best to have Berksa Reignitz and rush together as one. You're only 29 points allowed in the first two games. I know you guys expected big things out of this defense book. How I guess satisfying is to see it come to fruition. Yeah good, real good man turnovers. I think I turnovers right now we're doing real good in that column. I feel like we just got to keep that thing going or as a decision.

You were last year with San Francisco. Like when you see tangible results and you know how much easier is it to believe what you're doing? Instead of like the faith is actually like reality not rhetoric. Yeah no I think we send it in camp how great we could be. I think it was just everyday repetition in camp just trusting it. I'm seeing it in camp and then you know we're doing a practice going to happen in the game. Do you pay attention to like the landscape of the NFL what people are saying about you? You know I mean they're down now they're up or do you I mean is it hard to block out? I don't pay attention to it but I mean I guess some people do. Was it difficult for you to assimilate into this defense? I mean sometimes you know the new guy takes a little bit of an adjustment. Not think I got that out of camp pretty good. What makes it difficult to defend the running back when you have a mobile quarterback like Jim? So what makes it? Why does that make it even harder than to also stop the running back? Like a lot of times you know.

So don't let them get to the second level. We got do we have to do it front. I feel like I think it starts up front. Do we have to do it front and you know make it make our linebackers how they're easiest fits they can have? Obviously you're familiar with the same one Barclays well. I mean the combination of those two how much you think of benefits both? Who don't see? You do have institutional knowledge of both of those players having played in that division. How beneficial can that be when you're in the room breaking down what they do and how they do it? Yeah you know I feel like playing them. To say come on my racing my whole career. I kind of know what they like to do know who they are. No few things about them I guess that just you playing them you have to know. So yeah I mean we can put my best for food. Different than Sequon since he's got the belly there. Me always been a great back and a vegetable back.

Nah he's just I was saying a better situation. So I think he'll shine brighter for sure. He means for blocking for me and thank you to the defense for having our bags in the first hand. You know we're gonna get better. I'm gonna get better I gotta get in shape. I thought I was in shape but it was not. Good monkey took on my back on a few of those long runs so I'm gonna keep you good. I'm gonna be 61 yards and wait for like to run into the open field. It was good but when the monkeys don't throw my back and I... I gotta get in shape. The run was good but I'm so disappointed that I wasn't in shape. And I didn't finish that. Two runs I should have finished. How can you do that during the season? In practice I can run more gassars, run more sprints and we'll be ready to go. What did you think on the 61 yard or when you were breaking free? You saw them coming? Well no. The first 40 yard I was like oh yeah bye bye. Because I was putting away from him and then after that I was like oh shit I got heavy. So I was like alright let me just cover the ball.

I got tired. I think you look great and you got a bunch of great juxtaposed games with your ones. What's that different from? I got Justin Beck. A quarterback is special. Right? A quarterback is great. He can't be Superman. You know that's what the team is for. And that's what they brought me here for. To have his back. Next week I bet you feel better with that. We kept hearing this is going to be Jim. I was going to run the ball. I was going to run the ball. I'm going to have it more especially in the second half. Because you feel them soft in the offensive game and I don't even know what you're going to work in the first ten. Oh yes. I always stick with it. I always believe in. I always fight. I knew we were going to crack some. I knew we were going to crack some runs. I knew your offensive line was going to fight. I want to fight with them. I'm going to have their backs. And you go to the chicken after everything. How did that feel after everything? How did that feel to have their performance out there for your first team or game with the chargers? Hey, look, look, look, look, look, look, look. Look, look, look, look. Get him, look, get him, look, look. But I'm just looking at my top. You ain't got you right now.

You ain't got you right now. You ain't got you right now. Man, it felt good though. It felt really good. But now I'm going to be ready for next week. You know, the type of guy who had a good game, go back to the draw board. Let's get better. I definitely can say, you know, just maturity-wise, especially from this class. I think we all just came in a little bit, maybe immature, but we've definitely grown throughout that process. Did you see the way a guy like Dott of Inject and stepped up for a house thing? What's your, how inspiring was that for you? It's very inspiring. You know, me and Dany were pretty close to like, to talk to him a lot. So, you know, just seeing him move from guard to tackle and just make such a huge jump in that little time was just really cool to watch. Carter, especially the three primary coaches you're working on, do they all speak the same language if you follow my grip? Who do you listen to most, I guess, in those kind of situations? You know, they're all from different places. So, at first, I think it was a little hard for them to mention the one that will ring open. Now they've got it down, packed. They're all at the same exact thing. So, that's been helping a lot. I mean, obviously they can explain stuff a little different if you like them too.

But they've been doing a good job of keeping everything together. And Coach Dickin, in particular, what's he brought? What's he brought to you? What were his tidbits or things he's brought to open your eyes a little bit? Um, just let the little older playstyle, I could say. He's not like too fancy on all the technique stuff. So, I like just how straightforward he is with all the technique stuff for sure. It's very straightforward. I know you know Luke pretty well both of you in from Toledo. How have you just seen Luke Bro here so far going into this year? I think I've been watching him for a while. You know, I've known him like you said. But I'm just seeing him grow as a leader. It's been really cool to see him a while back. I think I was a software he was a senior. We always played in each other. But seeing him move into that leader role has been really cool to see. What kind of leadership is he bringing to that leader right now? I'm just always talking to the younger guys. Then encouraging us, you know, tell us what we need to do. And not only the younger guys, but the other guys just encourage us as a whole. And what does his story mean to you? I mean, obviously this time of year ago he wasn't even sure where he was going to fit in or whatever. Now, especially through the playoffs, he was a force. I mean, what does it just tell you about perseverance but also a season?

I think it really just never give up. I mean, obviously you might not start the first game, maybe not even the second game. But you can always make an impact if you really, that's your desire. I would say Austin and Luke a lot. You know, I talked to them for your office, especially about technique stuff. Austin did a plan. A little different places. So he's gonna help me a lot of my small technique things. Just what to do for sure. Is it the small stuff that is a big adjustment from playing top? Is that really what kind of thing? Yeah, it's definitely the smaller stuff. There's like, you know, hand protection stuff like that. Nothing to address it. So it's been good. The trade just has been too crazy. Exactly what positions have you been replying? Only a left tackle. Yeah, so far. You feel pretty comfortable there. I feel very comfortable. Yes. These are grown men you're going against. Can Yada and Kate in like 22, 23 years old. Yeah, yeah. Obviously, that's a lot different than the high school you're playing.

What, 16, 17, most 18. So it hasn't been a lot different. The first co-practice were my best. I definitely adjusted a pretty well this spring. Two more questions. Part of that last day, I was kind of sent to you guys. Obviously, Coach Piles was very close. He came up to Lido, Hambo time, and then all the time he get up here. He's gone. How's it been getting them? It's been really good. Obviously, we had all the freshmen had a really good relationship with Coach Fri. You know, men seeing him leave was actually a little hard, but we all kept our minds open with Coach Born. And we're liking him a lot. We've been developing relationships with him. And he's been really good to us so far. Good. All right, Carter. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm talking about this, you know, just recently. Talking about how what I want to do for the world is I want to bring that home energy, the ebra. Right? So last year, of course, I'm sure he's been doing for years, but the year when I spent my own, he brought a lot of energy, excitement, happiness in the room, which is his natural energy,

to where I only had to focus on me. You know, I didn't have to make sure other guys were, you know, feels the type of way when it came in here, because hump brought that. And I have a hump not here, but I saw when you did for a room, I want to be that guy to make sure I was an amputable to practice everybody's. I had more taking a field team on period, you know, it's a low day or something, you know, it's a disadvantage, but like, I want to make it feel like hump comes up. You know, you have a pair of the trip. I want to bring that, because that's what me and hump did to each other. We were having each other. I was like, dude, it's probably going to be a walk. We're a flip. So I want to do that. I want to bring that energy. I want to make bring more guys. You know, to do that. I want to do that from day one, you know, I kind of, I want to do that from day one. I'm talking to them and obviously it's that time I spent in the office season before OTA started. Just being in my self-esteem about what the room needs, you know, because I don't know.

I knew OTA was one of the leaders, you know, on the office, is that we need a guy like that. It's going to make sure the O-line is picked up. We're ready to go every day on those healthy, kind of little things don't happen to practice and people aren't saying anything and how I believe maybe different than somebody else may believe. You know, I like to practice at least like the legal positivity, you know, I mean so. But he, the energy had, would be on just the hyperbelines, like to, so I was kind of, how I wanted to be going on. I literally, my whole life, I wanted to get out of the NFL. Team captain, like specifically, and I felt I wasn't a captain in high school. I wasn't a captain in college. But I want to make a joke, I was in high school. So I feel like I'm nodding to the captain's like he's that I felt. But that would be awesome, you know, but you know, that happens, I'd be great. But not either way, I want to assume a role as a captain from the perspective of guys on team visual work.

And get back in that way. Yeah, I mean, I can't say that, I mean, I guess the biggest thing is that I felt like I would use two of the past. But it didn't take just the first LTAs. It took training, left and right, once this season ended, because I don't know what was going to be. So I took a lot of reps just to give back to feeling like myself for the LTAs. And then I hold first week, but now like today specifically just changing some small things with my feet. That is it, talking about the long coach, about some things I can do with my feet to get to sell my traditional angle that I love to sit on. I thought I felt great already, but I felt even better. Sorry, even more excited tomorrow now, get on my feet back and how I like the right side and on the left side. So long side. I mean, obviously I feel like in the league, whether I left or right, you're still going against Premier guys.

So obviously, you have high expectations for your left and right tackle. But there's definitely the level of energy and the expectations definitely take the human strength. Because now I can narrow the blind side. That's the tackle role. So yeah, I would say in terms of communication as far as even outside of the facility, and stuff like that, really creating that tackle quarterback, bond even more off the field, I think, because of something that's even cool. I got a text one day, as I, like, you put it left, I was like, you know, yeah, I've been training both. I've been training both. You know, I asked after the season there, like honestly, you know, we'll talk to you simply in the season, and I just got a text one, I had this with the free agency. Then, so I was like, you know what, I had an old season right tackle. So if I get the word, I'm going, I'm standing right tackle.

I'll just do what I did before I'm built on that. But I was like, I might as well just train the left tackle now, as if I'm going to be left tackle. And I'd rather do that than train on right tackle because I'm going to call it a right tackle. I'm like, who, how do you, how do you, how do you switch my feet yet? You know what I mean? So I'm like, let me just prepare an advance. I was like, yeah, it's got, you know, I think occasionally, on third down, there would be a lot of twists. I was just not like, it's automatic. And I think that was my mindset for like the first half of the season. Like, I didn't have to go into the game with some pros like, oh my gosh, they did that. I kind of figured like, okay, like this is this is the type of rush I'm going to get. This is how this guy usually rushes. If I get the vibe, this is how the ends like the rush, you know, tackles that, you know, first year guys. We got the premier patch on. I already know what it was going to be. I already know what we every stuck. And honestly, just knowing that's kind of an advantage to, so you're not, you're not, you're not, oh, they brought the twists on my side again. It was never air-doll, but it kind of not the most like three plays in a row.

Two minutes. I do that. It was the morning. You know what I mean? I'm watching more everybody else. And he rarely, he only goes out there on occasion on third down. I was like, you know, he's going to pick me. You know what I mean? So, that effect, it's kind of, it's also kind of an advantage in what. But that's also exciting, like, okay, I'm going to get the hardest to look. You know, those are real, real reps, you know, the things. So, really, I went in kind of process. And I was like, hey, when I tell me, let me know about what I'm just going to train it. I was training all the way to T.A.s. I guess if I didn't hear anything about T.A.s, I came in like, so, you know what I mean? Because just like, I'm cool with training both continuing. I would have been cool with training both continually. But I feel like anybody, any position will feel like, okay, like, you want as soon as possible. You give your feet kind of subtle in your hips, subtle in your hands, subtle in certain kind of way.

Would it have been harder to hit your workbowl during how to use? No. No. But they're definitely, but in terms of the development, it was definitely a lot faster for staying on one side. But I think having that week that we had the transitional seasons over, I'm delighted to respond. You know, good. I'm trying to get up with it, but I'm not having any week things at a time right now. But when it comes back, I'm going to show them the other house. I've got a house that's not too far from, so I told them, I got that house, like, I got a yellow outside. DJ. You know what I mean? So, yeah. Both. Obviously, I just wanted the team to win. I think we got a chance to win. No, definitely towards it. And then it stretched out last drive. I was a couple of plays here, a couple calls that he made me should have gotten. But I think the frustration more so it just comes from wanting to win more. You said he was a little surprised how much attention you had right away from the defense.

How about you? Yeah, definitely. We maybe killed him or one of ones kind of how the game plan was set up. You didn't have a lot of different coverage out of cloud to my side. And I just kind of had the game go. What's the process been, like, sometimes, where, or whatever reason, just to that most? Yeah, definitely. Especially in college, a lot of the game fans defensively were taking your leg. You know, we had a lot of success at a high-altitude. And I was able to stay out of the way. One of the boys had in different weapons. They kind of still get the victories. And I was, yeah, you continue to do better jobs when I hear. Why are the communication the process been like post-game, getting on the same page with Kyler? You guys exchanged text or you guys in the snowman? Yeah, they're filming them, definitely. Kind of asking what did I see there, kind of go over and play. And I just had to give him what I saw and kind of different feedback there. I just changed words. Mark, I gather we're asking questions about the previous game.

Are you the type of guy to let a game like that linger or how do you flush it? You got to move on. Got to move on. Some long season guy. About 16 more of them. Hopefully, no, I can stay healthy throughout the year and just continue to build and get better each week. You guys did so much work throughout the off season to get on the same page. How different is it when you get into that regular season? Yeah, it's totally different. It's totally different. You can do a lot of things, you know, in shirts and shorts. And then once you go out there, put practice and get pads on. You do like the point practice we do with the colds, but there's nothing like actually going out there. Not in live action and really trying to be on the same page. So I think that relationship will continue to develop and we'll get better. Is that it? It's just a matter of rubs then. This much is anything. Yeah, definitely, definitely. Like I said, I was kind of my first live action together. So continue with. When you're early impressions on it. I'm on the field together and I'm in the crisis with cows. Yeah, but obviously I have a death respect, you know, JG's call or preseason. And obviously be all feel really healthy. That's kind of the most important thing.

And obviously get all healthy even going forward. So. Marvin, what are your early impressions of the Rams? What do you think of the Rams? Yeah, I mean, they're a good team. They're good physical team. I got a new lot of new guys up front, I think. That's kind of where they're strong suit is. Kind of a little different to Buffalo. Come more to a little match coverage. So I'm excited to build this. Personally, when the belts gave you one of my opportunities, how do you feel today? It wasn't many of them. Wasn't many of them. Wasn't many of them. So I thought maybe I'm just where you think game versus just playing. You're not getting a preseason game actually. I think it was three season. Definitely, definitely thinking a lot out there. And I think I'll come with reps. I think to think and less and just going out there and playing. Definitely come with reps. And it's something you're all get better at. But I think definitely say I was thinking a lot out there. Is there anything you can do to prove that that's for coverage? Anything you can do in the past? Because you're going to face that a lot obviously. Yeah, I mean, you just got to team. Get open for yourself, make yourself available. And when the ball does, can you make it into a play?

This, he's just taking you away. That means other guys are having a chance to get open. So that's how kind of how I look at it. It's no longer season of offense. That's the best thing of course. That kind of thing would be with Kyla. Is this something that comes pretty quickly in a new game? Or is this something like that? Mine's that one. Hopefully sooner or later I think. I'll continue to see. We'll see. I don't think we're in a bad place right now at all. Obviously, I don't really think that. But just a live reps will continue to grow and show. So we're at the play on Friday. And that's really all that matters. We're going to take two more from Zoom before turning it back. Our first one's going to come from Stephen from Cleveland.com. Go ahead. It's the fun. I'm sorry. Hey Kyla, we've seen you were talking about the Ohio State Office the success that they've had. Obviously Jeremiah has been a big part of that. What's it been like this year going against him in practice? And you know, after doing that, does it surprise you at all to see him having a success he's had as a freshman?

No, it doesn't bring any surprises. It was pretty easy to see the talent that he has and the blessings that God has put on his plate. But it's always a challenge going against Jeremiah and the other receivers in Mecca and Karnel in practice. And even guys like Brandon and his impression Rogers, they do a great job bringing looks for the defense and create a lot of obstacles. Our final question from Zoom is going to come from Dan Hope. Go ahead, Dan. Hey, look, you, Quinn had a lot of success against you guys when you played him at Alabama last year. What do you remember from going up against him last year and what can you learn from that game? Really smart quarterback knows how to operate their offense. Puzzle ball in the right places. And then Coach Narkeeson does a great job putting him in positions to win. All right, back to you. Thank you, Rob Aller. Columbus Dispatch, Caleb, JT and Jack Lannopson sides and they is opposite off the field. So they are on in terms of personality and just the people they are?

They're opposites but they are also like one of the closest people I know they spend a lot of time together. They've come from different sides of the country so they're different people for sure. But they're both really great people and really great men. I'm sorry, I respect both of them. How did you do that? I'm not going to do that. I'm sorry. I'm not going to do that. Throughout the season we would always see you on Wednesday nights you and Nathan would be some of the last people off the field. Are the things that you're working on after a practice always the same? Is it a routine? What are the things that you're hoping to get out of those extra moments after practice? It's a routine, pretty much the keys that we need to go into the game with. And then also it changes week to week on based on what our jobs are going to put us into doing. So every week we go through the same things and then we add certain things that we do for the...

What the team that we play is going to ask us to accomplish. Bill, we're going to win Columbus Dispatch. Yeah, I already got one. Oh okay, Joey Gopman called us Dispatch. Kelvin. When? Texas uses play action and Nathan uses play action to prepare. What do they do well in those spots and what's the key for you guys in those moments with Quinn? They do a really good job with I Candy. And it creates a lot of challenges for defense in order to see if it's runner pass. And see, because that's when they're going to take their shots too as well. So really just having great eye discipline, seeing the line and seeing what it's telling us. So that's what it does. Deep right, Nick Walker, Letterman Rolfe. Hey, well, you guys had a pretty good game plan for Tyler Warren when you guys played him. You guys have another Texas weather good tied in and Gunnar Homme. What are you guys going to have to do to limit him and what do you think about his game? He's a really good player. He makes a lot of plays and he has a lot of receiving yards this year.

So really just do the same thing we've done all year. Just be disciplined in our responsibilities. And if you're on them, you got to make the play when it comes. Right, one of the main drill builders. Cleveland.com. When you look at their receivers, it's kind of a whole, you know, they spread ball around. Seems like a lot of what stands out about the way they're taking the ball around those different guys. A lot of really good athletes. I played with Isaiah Bond last year who's a really great receiver, a lot of speed. And then all the receivers have made a lot of plays. So I mean, everybody has to be on their peasy cues if we're going to stop them and have a really good job. From everyone here, Tim May, Letterman Rolfe. Yeah, Caleb, you moved up here and I don't have to tell you when you moved. Basically a year ago. And so it was a little bit of a leap of faith because you know, you know how many athletes are on this team. Good athletes and stuff. But when did you really feel this defense come into its own? And then then pass that man, watching you in the Rose Bowl, you're recognition of what was coming seem to be on point.

Did it feel like that? I mean, you personally. I think the defense has played really well throughout the season. I think we've had games where we played better and games where we haven't put it all together. But I think that's how all defenses are. So I can't say there's a certain moment where I think we put it together. But what's your second part of your question? You seem really on point against Oregon about recognizing what was coming. I mean, you were really active out there directing and things like that. Did it feel like that, I guess? I feel like as Luke said earlier, the preparation that we put in goes into that and just feeling comfortable. And what we're doing, what we're seeing with the other teams, I feel like that allows us to play fast. And me and Lakers, I communicate to everybody else. Did I miss anyone's questions here? Steve, how long in front of you in sports? Yeah, Caleb. You came to Ohio State to play for National Championship. And there were a lot of ups and downs throughout the season.

Just to be in this position, the last four teams still live. You feel validated by that. Did you always have faith that this is how it was going to turn out? I came to Ohio State to become a better player and to help the team be as good as it can be. Not to win a National Championship. Like that wasn't the only goal for me coming here. I really just wanted to be on the team and be with the brotherhood. But it's a great feeling being in the final four and being with the team and everything that comes with that. It's a blessing to be here. And one final question, Bill, where Ben wants to club his best friend? Yeah, I did want to follow up. When I talked to you at the back of the game, you said, when they scored their first and second touchdown, you were really hot on the sidelines. What was your message to the team? And you know, that's a good offense. They're going to score against most teams. Why were you so hot? Really just because we didn't execute, which let them score. So we've done that a lot, which is something we can't do in these big games and these games where

it's winter go home. So we got to make the plays when they come and get our competitive excellence as Coach Dases make the play where your numbers call. Caleb, thank you very much. Anything I can't talk about. And I don't want that to every question. I just said that it felt like sometimes you were holding up somewhere watching film. You texted him, say, hey, you missed this or you want to tweak that? Well, like the first day, he was batting all of Russ's passes. So I had to let him know. You know, you got to take advantage of that. Make sure guys are, you know, know that you still care and you still want to be a part of this. You know, just watch and practice. There's a couple of little things we're doing different. Whether I'm communicating with Dumbar or other people, you know. So you're also talking with him. And do you give him pointers during the off season, just a constant communication? How do you see who grows a person, you know, and how he's approaching things? How he getting ready for this season versus his rookie? You know, I think the thing with Keanu is he's more comfortable.

You know, it's not his first time around the track. You know, it's actually like he can, you know, catch his feet under him. You know, I always think when you're in your rookie season, you're going from bowl game. I don't even know what's going to play in a bowl game. Sorry, Wisconsin, I don't even know. But, you know, personally, I just think when you go from bowl game to training for the combine, to, you know, rookie minicamp, OTAs, you know, many can, I mean, to train a can, the regular season, you really don't get a time to really catch yourself. You know, you understand some playbook now. You can be more vocal. You know, I think with my absence, the other guys' absence, you know, you need guys like that to step up and be ready for those opportunities. What do you think is the surgery you had in your off season? Is it the same you had during the season? What was the... Just tightened down everything. You know, my left side, because I was overcompensating a little bit. But, you know, it was, it wasn't anything that lingers.

You know, I'll say this, a groin's not like an ACO. It's not like anything's ever going to get affected again. You know, you know, feeling good, able to do everything, squat and heavy, with power and speed. So, you know, it feels good to get after a gun. What do you think of what the team was able to accomplish in our season? In terms of bringing guys like rushing and things like that. You know, I think they're all good acquisitions, but, you know, you never want to be known as a paper champ. So, I can't win the off season. I think the work gets done out here on the field, gets done in the classroom. It gets done training. You know, and then you see where you're at in the training camp. And then you build on that. You know, I think we got the right guys in the building. It's just about putting a completely month to fill. Can you tell us how difficult is it to separate the business part of the game? The actual football player. You know, you always have to treat it like a business. Because, you know, one day it's going to end.

And that's a pretty job. It's not like in college where, you know, you got four years guarantee. Well, now you don't even know what that I am. I don't know, it's crap. It was a transfer portal. But, you know, you have to... I still have love for this game. And I still work my tail off. And I still put everything into it. And that's not going to change. But you have to know what you bring to the team and what your value is. Can you tell us how it is to be out there with your teammates today emotionally? Great. You know, we got a new training staff. I'm still learning the warm up. I'm a little different. But, you know, I love it. You know, just getting after it. Learning new guys. Going through the same drills I've been doing by myself. I actually like having more people around. Because, like, kind of go stir crazy. When it's just you and another guy, you're like, damn, I got to go back up for another rep already.

And so, you know, it's nice to be up here and get a chance to be with my guys. Can we confident? I think we'll get down to your emotion. Oh. I'm going to try to remain pretty neutral. Because, you know, I don't want to be too either way. All I know is I want to be here. But we'll see what happens. It's my last year here. I've had a great career here, but I look forward to playing that shit. You know what that second surgery you said at this time was on the left side. Was the first time around on the right side? Right side during the season. Left side. And that was just tightening down my core muscle. It wasn't the same as my ad doctor. You know, you can ask Dr. Bradley, Dr. Zuckerbron, who did the surgery as well. You know, if anything's going to help me and make me a lot stronger from here on up. Can you say you were training with another guy who have you?

Tyson, I've been training with him for the last eight years. We've always trained together. We've got a trainer up north, shout out Coheley. He's my guy. He trained a Heath Miller, Brett Kiesel, multitudin guys that I'll respect. And we've just been getting after him. Can we do a few guys historically, 35, they paid big contracts. I think that's held against you. I think there's not a lot of history behind it. But, you know, for me, I look as, I'm not looking to be like anybody else. You know, my game is different from everybody else in the sleep. You know, I like to think, you know, I can play the run in the pass. And that's where I'm different. You know, I remember last year of my team just brought to my attention. You know, the thing that's really cool is you watch power lifters. And, you know, my game's built on power and technique. And it's a great thing that those guys go into their 40s.

And so you know, that's what kind of research I'm doing behind the scenes. But, you know, we'll see what happens. There's not a lot of history, but I'm here to make history. And I'm here to, you know, win another Super Bowl of Air. And, you know, have a great season. You have a set goal for yourself. How many years do you want to play in the NFL? You can just take things here right here. It was tough answering that question right after the season. I will say this guys, I can't keep answering that question right after the season. That is not fair to the season that's not fair to my family. You know, but in my mind, I got three years. And I want to maximize them. I want to play at a high level. And I want to go deep into playoffs. And, you know, we got a good team. And I'm going to do my part to be ready for all those situations. You plan on practicing when you report to the church, or is it possible that you might hold in and enforce the negotiations? I have not even thought that far. I've taken a day by day.

You know, I told my agent, and we talked about it. I mean, we were cool coming out here. You know, I'll be here for many. And then I'll be there for training. You know, I don't know what the work entails, but when we get there, we'll cross that bridge. Why is it a must for you to work? Two more. Remain a stealer for those three years. You know, there was a conversation between me, Omar, and Mike T. And there's certain guys that are one-homah guys. You know, and I want to be one of those one-homah guys. And, you know, there's a hunger and desire there. But that doesn't mean just hanging it up and calling a career. To me, I think, you know, I got more bullets to fire. And, you know, I'm excited to do that. What's the meaning of the last one? Can you and Russell Wilson are going to be out there with what will pay men of the year pass? I saw Russ as on social media.

But I have been at the chance to see it. I like the surprise happens when it happens. But, you know, it's cool to have another who will pay in a year or winter. You know, I think it's an honor to be there. And I'll say one thing. I won't be here. I'm just telling you guys, so it's not a big deal. I won't be here because I have to do a water-pate man-year thing all on Thursday. So it's not like I'm skipping. But, you know, it's an honor to be with Russ. And, you know, it's an honor of doing things in the community. Doing great work. You know, the cool thing is, as much as we get honored and nominated for these things, the work doesn't stop. And I can see that with Russ this foundation. You know, we had an event for our foundation. And my mom was quick to tell Russ, hey, we need the partner somehow. And I was like, mom, let's just enjoy the event. But, you know, it's really cool to be a part of a lead group.

All right. Thank you. Thank you. I'm just, probably, the Nebraska game, Megan and more safety reps. And we had a five-week prepare, so I really learned the playbook a lot more, even though I knew the playbook, I learned a lot more. I'm out in debt, you know, so really just after the Oregon game, it helped me a lot to go back to safety, go to nickel, everywhere. Thanks, man. Dan, both left and orange. You guys had a lot of issues of giving up big plays in the passing game of the first game against Oregon. What do you feel if you guys need to do better this time around to make sure that doesn't happen? Just the same mindset. We got to challenge these receivers. You know, every dog has their day. Maybe some people didn't have their day that game. But we'll look out there and hopefully change the narrative. And we still play with the same confidence, same technique. And, yeah. Bill, we're back with Columbus, this batch. And Tenzell obviously had a tough game. And that one, what have you seen from him and how he's responded?

Do you get a sense of from him, how pumped he is for this rematch? Yeah, he's super stoked for this rematch. His preparation has been very good. He's always been preparing, you know, it didn't go the way he wanted to go that game. But he just always had his confidence. And we're going to see a big game out of him this week. And, you know, I know you guys wanted to play them in anapolis. But the fact that you get to play them at the Rose Bowl, I mean, get a second chance. And people have said, you don't get that very often. How determined are you guys to take advantage of it? We're super, super determined. We watched film. I mean, we've lost a lot of film. The first time we played them, now we've got another six games that they played of film to watch. And it's just, they've grown a lot as a team. Same as us. We've grown a lot. We're not the same team. We were when we played them week one or weeks, weeks, weeks or whatever. But now we're out there and going to play fast, physical, and everything like that. All right, Jordan, we're going to jump to the Zoom question here from Joey Kaufman.

Columbus, this back. Oh, my bad. Not too Joey. Cameron T. Robinson, the athletic. Hey, Jordan, you've moved around a lot in the second day in your career. And now kind of getting some many more safety reps. What is it like at this point when Walt or Coach Mills comes to you and asks you to do something else? And just how much can you lean on the experiences you've had moving around when you're trying to learn something new in the middle of season? It means a lot. We always talk about, and this is if it's being on selfish, whether that's making plays or not making plays or doing your job so another person can make plays. That's kind of what we pride ourselves on. And it's just fun. We've moved around different positions. I'm always up for a new challenge. And a lot of people in the country can't do that. I just hold myself to that standard where I can play any position and excel at it. Okay. And anybody else needs a question? Let me know. But otherwise we're going to go to Austin or the podcast.

Jordan, when you were talking about watching film, Oregon, which one do you think is more valuable to you watching that against yourself? You know, seven games ago, even if you've changed or the ensuing six games for Oregon, which one do you put more stock in? Kind of both. For me, I kind of watch what I did, things I did well, things I didn't do too well against them. And their team is, that life, their scheme has changed. Some players have been out those those stretch of games. So I really watched the past game we played. And I know they're going to go back to some of the stuff that they liked, of course. And different games like Penn State, maybe Illinois, they run a lot of men. So just watching, watching stuff like that, every game matters. So yeah. Jordan, thank you very much. Thank you. How would you describe the mentality of the defense right now, getting this opportunity for a rematch in the Oregon? Yeah, hungry and thankful. I mean, we know how the last time when we had a chip on our shoulder.

I mean, we were riding high before that game and we took that loss. And we came back how to make a couple changes. But I think we understand what, you know, everything's at stake right now. You know, just fighting to where another house, stage, jersey for the next game. That's what's on stake. And just to be able to represent this state and this team. I mean, we understand what's on the line. And we're just hungry and blessed that we get this opportunity playing the Rose Bowl. Right behind your Adam King, WBNS. What do you remember most about walking off the field in Eugene? What was kind of all your mind in that ballroom? I mean, there was a... I don't think anybody imagined it. Imagine us losing. You know, I didn't. That's for sure. And I think after that it was kind of hit deep. But I understand it. Man, we still, there's still a lot of ball left to be played. I mean, you can let it sting for a little bit. But, you know, if you let it carry over too long, then, you know, there it goes. There goes your whole season by. I think we did a great job of just understanding, coming together in this room right here.

Not being afraid of display or hold accountability from one another. And, you know, as that happened, we came back, we grouped, and, you know, we're just going right now. And I'm just blessed for those specific moments, you know, losing. I mean, no one wants to lose, but the testimonies and the things you're taught within those little situations. Speaks of volume. It's after all, right? Letterman, right? Hey, Jay, what did you see from Kenyatta in the last couple of weeks? Was there like a push from him? I can't tell if there were any conversations with him. We can see like he's playing some special ball in the sense. Yeah, I mean, that's my boy. He's in the R2X club too, but, you know, Kenyatta, I mean, every time his numbers call, he goes out there and makes the most of it. No matter where we are in the game. When he goes out there, he's just hungry. He wants to go make plays. And, you know, we see it in practice, so it's not surprising to us. Bill, we're a bit away. It's a bonus this time.

Still in Gabriel's obviously very elusive and he's not very tall. How important it could be to just kind of stay in your past rush lanes and neglect a lot of balls and kind of make a difference that way? Yeah, I think it just comes on being disciplined. No one who you're playing against, like you said, he's very elusive. I mean, he can, he is making throws. I mean, he get out the puck, he can do everything. So I think for us, we just have to discipline and just continue to just meet with Coach Jay, me with the coach's nose and understand how we can just eliminate that. One question about you and Jack. I mean, your personality seems to be a little different. You're more on the quiet side. Yeah. How about you play together four years, both five store guys, kind of describe your relationship with him, friendship with him, and just kind of how you cop on with each other? Man, that's my brother. Like you said, we're different but very alike. I think outside, like you said, he's louder and quiet, but you know, once we're on that field, we're like the same person.

We'll do anything for this team. You know, we'll die for our players and we'll give everything we got. We'll do a group together for four years, correct? Yeah, fall camps. Every group? Yeah, sometimes go over there. So go over there. There's the meet one who's the messy one. We have our share of days when we, when I'm neat, he's neat or you know, we might both be messy, but we do a good job. Yeah, I would probably say I would better kick the jack though. Tony Gertman, like I've held. When you're playing a team for the second time, and that was almost a season to go by now, how much of... Are you at square one with the scouting and the preparation or how much do you take from that game? How much do you avoid taking so that you don't have any preconceived notions of what you're going up against on the offense line? I say it's pretty 50-50, I mean, that game, like you said, it was a while ago, but at the same time they elevated as a team. So did we, so we understand that they had, they made some changes for sure. You know, there's a certain tendency we can take back from that game, but we also understand that they went on a little run after that,

and we can see that they elevated as an offense. So we just got to continue to watch those games, dissect other games and just continue to see what stands out and what they changed from the past game. We got a couple calls on Zoom that will wrap up with, first we have Nick Hamilton from Nightcast Media. Nick? I just wanted to ask you basically about the synergy of this defense and how you guys were able to not only celebrate the triumphs, but get through the adversity, be able to be this top notch defense that you are in college football today. Here, repeat the question one more time. Yeah, no problem. I wanted to ask you about the synergy you are able to develop over the course of the season, obviously celebrating the triumphs, but also getting through the adversities to where you are all the top notch defense that you are today. Yeah, I mean, like you said, we went through a lot of trials to trials, but there's also, there's a lot of things we can take away from all the wins and losses.

From those wins, we understood that we can be the best defense in the country and from those losses, we understand that there's still things that need to be fixed. I think when you take all that in at once, it comes out to the common goal or the common target, which is, there's always learning points everywhere. And depending how we dissect those games or how we just continue to come as one and elevate, we continue to just collect all those learning points and just continue to grow from them. And one final question, Joey Coffin, Columbus Dispatch, Joey. JT, what have you guys done better in the Tennessee game and just late in the season, you think about turning some of the pressures that you've got on quarterbacks and the sacks and getting home in some of those situations? Yeah, I think it was more just understanding the defense as a whole, understanding everybody's job. The thing is, as the season went on, we have to understand that we have to know what's going on in the backhand, we have to know what's going on in the linebacker crew to understand what plays we have room of freedom.

And I think once we understood that and got a better understanding of everybody's job, I mean it showed this play because everybody knows what each other is doing. It's not like the lineback is not what they're doing. And the corners and B.I. they know only their job. I think we all know each other's job and we continue to ask each other questions on, if they're listening how they can get to the quarterback and if I'm dropping playing quarterbacks by I can ask Cody on how to open field tackle. So we just kind of lean on each other's understanding because like I said, like Denzel knows how to play corner better than I know how to play corner. You know, he has more wisdom at that position than I do. JT, thank you very much. Thank you. Thanks, man. The first race in the moment is like Dev in the ball time. Definitely, a little bit of both. Obviously, I just wanted the team to win. I think we got a chance to win. Definitely towards it and then the stretch that last drive. I was a couple of plays here, a couple of calls that he made me should have gotten. But I think the frustration more so it just comes from wanting to win more or anything.

So what did you say he was a little surprised how much attention you had right away from the defense? How about you? Yeah, definitely. We maybe killed him more when I won. It's kind of how the game plan was set up. We didn't have a lot of different coverage out of cloud to my side and this is kind of how the game goes. What's the process then? Sometimes where, for whatever reason, it just doesn't see that much. Yeah, definitely. Especially in color, there's a lot of the game fans defensively were taking you away. You know, we had a lot of success at a high up state. Obviously one of the boys had a different weapons. They kind of still get the victories and I was, yeah, you continue to do better jobs when I hear. Why are the communication the process been like post game getting on the same page with Kyler? You guys exchanged tax, did you guys get into the film? Yeah, film, definitely. Kind of asking what did I see there and kind of go over and play. I just had to give him what I saw and kind of different feedback there. Just change words.

Mark, if I get it, we're asking questions about the previous game. Are you the type of guy to let a game like that winger or how do you flush it? You got to move on. Got to move on. It's a long season. Got 16 more of them. Hopefully, you know, I can stay healthy throughout the year and just continue building to better each week. You guys did so much work throughout the off season to get on the same page. How different is it when you get into that regular season? Yeah, it's totally different. It's totally different. You can do a lot of things, you know, inserts and shorts. And then once you go out there, put practice and you get pads on. You do like the joint practice we do with the colds, but there's nothing like actually going out there. Not in live action and really trying to get the same case. So I think that relationship will continue to develop and it will get better. Is that it, just a matter of reps then, as much as anything? Yeah, definitely. Definitely. Like I said, I was kind of my first live action together. So continue with me. What are your early impressions on the field together and what's your experience with cows? Yeah, but now obviously I have a deaf respect, you know, JG's call or preseason. And obviously be all feel really healthy.

That's kind of the most important thing. And I was a good, well healthy and going for it. So, um, that's it. Marvin, what are your early impressions of the Rams? What do you think of the Rams? Yeah, I mean, they're a good team. They're a good physical team. I got a new lot of new guys up front, I think. That's kind of where they're strong to it is. Um, kind of a little different to Buffalo, come over a little match coverage. So I'm excited to go against them. Personally, when the bells gave you one of my opportunities, how do you feel today? It's just getting open, that's fine. Wasn't many of them. Wasn't many of them. So, uh, I feel like I could be good. I'm just really thinking versus just playing. You know, not getting any preseason game actually. I think it's a lot. Definitely, definitely thinking a lot out there. And um, you know, I think I'll come with reps. I think they're thinking less and just going out there and playing. Definitely come with reps. And it's something they're on, you're better at, but uh, they definitely say I was thinking a lot out there. Is there anything you can do to prevent that from coverage? Anything you can do to prevent that from getting the past? Because you're going to fix that a lot, obviously. Yeah, I mean, you just got to team, get open for yourself, make yourself available.

The one the ball does, can be made in the play. Um, this, he's just taking you away, that means other guys are having a chance to get open. So, uh, that's how kind of high it is. No longer 16 or offense. That's the best thing of course. They're kind of going to be with Tyler. Is this something that comes pretty quickly in a new game? Or is something like that? Months. Uh, hopefully sooner or later, I think. Um, they'll look in team to see. We'll see. I don't think we're in a bad place right now at all. Obviously, I don't think that. But uh, just a live reps will continue to grow and show. I think how I'd be able to maybe different than somebody else may. You know, I like to practice at least like a legal positivity, you know what I mean. So, but he, the energy, uh, would be on just, uh, height of the beyond. So, I was kind of, how I would be going on. Um, really my whole life, I thought again, I felt team captain, like specifically. And I felt I wasn't a captain in high school. I wasn't a captain in college. But I want to make a joke, I was in high school.

I feel like I'm not going to be a captain like he's that I felt. Yeah. Um, but that would be awesome, you know, but, you know, if it happens, I'd be great. But not either way. I want to assume a role as a captain from perspective of guys. I'm thinking visual words and get back in that point. Yeah, I mean, I can't say that, um, I mean, I guess the biggest thing is that I felt it has felt like how we. You used to pass, but it didn't take just the first LTAs. It took training and left and right. Once this season ended because I know what it was going to be. So, I took a lot of, you know, grips, um, just to give back to feeling like myself for day one LTAs. And then that whole first week, but now like today specifically, just changing some small things with my feet. I did say talking about the long coach, about some things I can do with my feet to get to that, but to sell my traditional angle that I love to sit on.

I thought I felt great already, but I felt even better. Sorry, the more excited tomorrow now, get on my feedback and how I like the right side and on the left side. So, alongside me. I mean, obviously I feel like, um, in the league, whether I left or right, you're still going against Premier Guy. So obviously, you're high expectations for your left and right tackle. But, um, there's definitely, uh, like the level of energy and like the expectation definitely take the human strength. Because now, I can either blind side, that's the, that's the tackle role, you know. So, um, so yeah, I would say in terms of communication as far as this, even outside of the facility, just stuff like that, like really crazy, but the tackle caught back. Bond even more off the field, I think has been something that's even been cool. I got a text one day, and I said, hey, you put it left. I was like, you know, yeah, I've been training both.

I've been training both, you know, I asked after the season, they're like, honestly, you know, I just got a text one, I had this with the free agency. Then, so I was like, you know, what? I had an old season right tackle. So, if I get the word, I'm going, I'm standing right tackle. I'll just do what I did before I'm built on that. But I saw, I was like, I might as well as train the left tackle now. I said, we're going to be left tackle. And I'd rather do that than train on right tackle, good to call. Hey, you left tackle. I wasn't fighting the switch on the feet yet. You know what I mean? So, I'm like, let me just prepare an advance. I was like, yeah, it was good. You know, I think occasionally on third down, there would be a lot of twists. I was just not like, it's on a magic with the car. And I think that was my mindset for like the first half of the season. Like, I didn't have to go into the game with some props. Like, oh my gosh, they did that. I kind of figured, okay, like, this is the type of rush. I mean, like, this is how this guy usually rushes. If I get the vibe, this type of ends like the rush, you know, tackles that.

First year guys, you got the premier patch on. Already know what it was going to be. Already know what the every stunt. And honestly, just knowing that's kind of an advantage to it. So, you're not, you're not, oh, they brought the twist on my side again. It was never air gone, but they come out the hot side. Three plays in a row. Two minutes. I knew that. It was going to happen. It's so loud. You know what I mean? I'm watching more everybody else. And you really, you know, it goes out there on occasional third down. I was like, yeah, I was going to be, he's going to pick me. You know what I mean? So, that effect, it's kind of, it's also kind of an advantage in a way. But it's also exciting, like, okay, I'm going to get the hardest to look. You know, those are real, real reps, you know, the things. Really out on our way to kind of process. And I was like, hey, when I told me, let me know about what I'm just going to train it. I was training all left. So TAs, I guess, if I didn't hear anything about TAs, I would have came in like, so, you know what I mean?

Because just like, I'm cool with training both, I would have been cool with training both continually. But I feel like anybody, any position will be like, okay, like, you want as soon as possible, to give your feet kind of settled in, your hips settled in, your hands, so then, certain kind of that. Would it have been harder to hit or work both during O2? No, no. But they're definitely, but in terms of the development, it's definitely a lot faster, stand on one side. But I think having that weeks that we had the transitional seasons over, I'm delighted it was fun. You know, it would have been good if we tried to meet up with them in the morning, and we think that it's time right now. But when it comes back, I'm going to show them the other house, so I've got a house that's not too far from it. So I told them, I got that house, like, I got a yellow outside. DJ! You know what I mean? So, yeah.

That doesn't have any stock or anything. It doesn't mean anything, so we had to play on Friday, and that's really all that matters. We're going to take two more from Zoom before turning it back. Our first one's going to come from Stephen from Cleveland.com. Go ahead. It's the fun. I'm sorry. Hey, Caleb. We've seen, you were talking about the Ohio State Office, the success that they've had. Obviously, Jeremiah has been a big part of that. What's it been like this year going against him in practice, and, you know, after doing that, does it surprise you at all to see him having a success he's had as a freshman? No, it doesn't bring surprises. It was pretty easy to see the talent that he has, and the blessings that God has put on his plate. But it's always a challenge going against Jeremiah and the other receivers, and Mecca, and Karnel, and practice. And even guys like Brandon and his impression Rogers, they do a great job bringing looks for the defense, and create a lot of obstacles.

I'll find a question from Zoom. It's going to come from Dan Hope. Go ahead, Dan. Caleb, you, Quinn had a lot of success against you guys when you played him at Alabama last year. Just what do you remember from going up against him last year, and what can you learn from that game? Really smart quarterback knows how to operate their offense. Push the ball in the right places, and then, of course, our key is and does a great job putting him in positions to win. All right, back to you. Yep, thank you, Rob Aller. Columbus Dispatch. Caleb, GT and Jack Land opposite sides, and they is opposite off the field, as they are on in terms of personality and just the people they are. They're offices, but they're also like one of the closest people I know they spend a lot of time together. They've come from different sides of the country, so they're different people, for sure. They're both really great people and really great men. I'm sorry, I respect both of them. Did you have any personality? How did you do that?

I'm not going to do that. I'm sorry. I'm not going to do that. It's going to be awesome, Warren. Come on, Cap. Throughout the season, we would always see you on Wednesday nights, you and Nathan would be some of the last people off the field. Are the things that you're working on after a practice always the same? Is it a routine? What are the things that you're hoping to get out of those extra moments after practice? It's a routine, pretty much, the keys that we need to go into the game with, and then also changes week to week on based on what our jobs are going to put us into doing. So every week we go through the same things and then we add certain things that we do for what the team that we play is going to ask us to accomplish. Bill, we're going to win. Pull-in is this match? Yeah, I already got one. Oh, okay. Joey Gopman, pull-in is this match? Killvin. When Texas uses play action and Nathan is going to use play action in fairbid, what do they do well in those spots?

What's the key for you guys in those moments with Quinn? They do a really good job with I-Candy, and it creates a lot of challenges for defense in order to see if it's runner pass and see, because that's when they're going to take their shots too as well. So really just having great eye discipline, seeing the line and seeing what it's telling us. So that's what it does. Deep right, Nick Walker, Letterman Rolfe. Hey, look, you guys had a pretty good game plan for Tyler Warren when you guys played him. You guys have another Texas guy that's going to get tied in and gone around. What are you guys going to have to do to limit him and what do you think about his game? He's a really good player. He makes a lot of plays and he has a lot of receiving yards this year. So really just do the same thing we've done all year. Just be disciplined in our responsibilities. And if you're on them, you've got to make a play when it comes. Right, one of the Mandarin Guilds. When you look at their receivers, they spread the ball around a scene. What stands out about the way they can spread the ball around those difficult guys?

A lot of really good athletes. I played with Isaiah Bond last year who's a really great receiver, a lot of speed. And then all their receivers have made a lot of plays. So everybody has to be on their pees and gews if we're going to stop them and have a do a really good job. Fred, were you on your 10 May Letterman role? Yeah, I killed, but you moved up here and I don't have to tell you when you moved. Basically a year ago. And so it was a little bit of a leap of faith because you know how many athletes are on this team. Good athletes and stuff. But when did you really feel this defense come into its own? And then past that, man, watching in Rose Bowl, you're recognition of what was coming seem to be on point. Did it feel like that? I mean, you personally. I think the defense has played really well throughout the season. I think we've had games where we played better and games where we haven't put it all together. But I think that's how all defenses are. So I can't say there's a certain moment where I think we put it together.

But what was your second party question? You seem really on point against Oregon about recognizing what was coming. You were really active out there directing and things like that. Did it feel like that, I guess? I feel like, as Luke said earlier, the preparation that we put in goes into that. And just feeling comfortable and what we're doing, what we're seeing with the other teams. I feel like that allows us to play fast and me and Lakers to communicate to everybody else. Did I miss anyone's questions here? Steve, how long in 24 seasons sports? Yeah, Caleb, but you came to Ohio State to play for National Championship. And there were a lot of ups and downs throughout the season. Just to be in this position, the last four teams still live. You feel validated by that. Did you always have faith that this is how it was going to turn out? I came to Ohio State to become a better player and to help the team be as good as it can be. Not to win a national championship. Not like that wasn't the only goal for me coming here.

I really just wanted to be in the team and be with the brotherhood. But it's a great feeling being in the final four and being with the team and everything that comes with that. But it's a blessing to be here. And one final question, Bill, where Ben wants to play this guy? I did want to follow up. When I talked to you at the back of the game, you said, when they scored their first and second touchdown, you were really hot on the sidelines. What was your message to the team? And you know, that's a good offense. They're going to score against most teams. Why were you so hot? Really just because we didn't execute, which let them score. So we've done that a lot, which is something we can't do in these big games and these games where it's going to go home. So we got to make the plays when they come and get our competitive excellence as Coach Dases make the play where your numbers call. Caleb, thank you very much. I feel like they're definitely picking up quick. I mean, I was in their shoes one time and I had Zach Harrison, Javonte, Tyler Friedel, and Fred and me. I'm just trying to be one of those peers that they work for me and kind of just giving them the steps to get there.

And I feel like they're definitely picking up quick and they're definitely going to be one of the great rushmen. So we got to talk about it. JT and Jack probably don't need it. It's on a day of experience. Maybe that's some of the opportunities for you. Is there a difference in the work going because you've been getting through half of camp with the last couple? I feel like all the camps I've definitely gotten a big course learned and I love that. I asked Coach Jay for it. I love getting more reps because I just like protecting my craft. So I mean, some people may not need it. Some people need it, but I mean, I just like to give you as many reps as I can. What do you think about that course learning? So what kind of learning? I mean, for me, it's always just kind of getting my little details perfectly, like my steps, my footing. It's kind of just perfecting my toolbox and what we call it and my craft and just trying to be a... So I can win every place and kind of do. I want to take my bigger shoes and I want to be a better teacher. I'm just seeing what I feel like when you're already in the sport.

Yeah, definitely just getting stronger faster, everything all the above. But one of my big things is being a leader and kind of just not trying to look at the steel look up to Jack and JT and kind of have my own kind of leadership and be able to bring people into it. So I feel like I kind of have a lot of leaders on the D line and at the D in position. So we kind of all kind of just count off the children and those. Is that been a tough challenge for you to go through? We've got a lot of guys playing with them all, and being on the field and just kind of doing it right now. And trying to make it just be like, so you need those guys, how's that transition going to be? It's good competitive, and we love it. We're all competitive people, we all love to fish each other. And I feel like the bringing the best side of all is, we're all just kind of bouncing off each other and seeing what one person does and kind of better than to our toolbox. And we all kind of just kind of build one great thing. Hey, you ever were a last year when you got the shot at full backing, and did they procure that idea and you could coach them? I mean, how did it come about? Because you heard Jack saw your flop in.

Oh yeah. You could get a test back. So I definitely did it in high school. I was full back in a little bit of Titan. So I feel like it kind of saw what I could do there, and Coach Wilson, honestly, he loved watching it too, before he left. And I feel like he playing that seed in Coach Day's head, and Coach Day kind of just went for it, and tried to do the best I could to do it. Is that continuing now, man? Do anything in the screen? New playbook, I did not know you haven't got that far. Yeah, I'm good, I'm good. How topos have you been? I've been here looking back. I like to think myself as a football player. I can really play any position on the field you need me to, just give me a week or two to learn it, and kind of perfect it, and try to do what that's for you. Kid Jack, you're the same thing. Oh yeah. Well, what about football? Graphically, that's why. I was talking to Coach Johnson on Tuesday about some of the conversations he sort of sought you, and got out to have some conversations. After JT and Jack decided to come back, just got to win into those from your perspective, and how did that help you maybe get the right mindset against community in this game? I'm definitely kind of seeing it all the way through.

I feel like people kind of just see what happened, and they don't know everything that goes into it, how long the season is now, what you got to do to prepare for, and what can happen in all that time from here to then. So I feel like we definitely just coached in, we kind of connected, and we kind of just talked, and man-on-man, and he kind of just sat straight to me, and I feel like we kind of both were pretty honest. And we know we're making it yada. We're making each other better every day, and we got the 4 best DNs, 5 best DNs, honestly, and then coach football, and we're going to be one of the best D-Lines and coach football. But you feel like a better player today at any more game this season. I feel like I've taken big steps in my roles of just being responsible and being more of a leader, and kind of stepping up and taking a step to kind of get out there more on the team, and kind of bring people in, and I feel like we're kind of helping out more. I think record head around the past is 17KFC. Does that sound... I mean, it sounds bizarre, but I mean, the season goes by so fast already, so when you're kind of like week 10 and you're like, wow, it's already week 10, so now it's kind of...

It's getting more time to kind of enjoy it, and kind of savor it, because we've come already here for a really, really, kind of freshness for the face crazy. But you don't want to spend all your powder for the first month of the year, right? There is a... not pace yourself, but I mean, there is a mindset, and I didn't know the season. Yeah, definitely. Definitely going to have to have the mental stability to handle all those weeks, and all those practices. How much has Larry talked to you guys about like that? Last question right here. You've talked to 2016, 2017, 4, and 5, 2, 5, 2, 1, 2, 1, so much. How much has he talked about that? I mean, he hasn't had to talk about it. We know about it. We've seen it every day. We watch the film. We see them all working together. We know what it could be. We know we could become. So we know we're at the same, we're at the right place at the right time, and God wanted us to be here, and he knew we wanted us all to come together and kind of play together, and be able to bounce off, and just perfect our craft together. And I feel like we all are just great individuals, and we come together at something special. Great. Doing it? What were the deliberations? I'm surprised it's even a conversation. Like, it should always be live. Let's tell you.

Let me play football. So obviously there's a proximity to the season, which is a little reckless, I understand that. But in spring, when you're competing for jobs, I mean, if I'm a quarterback, I'm asking to be live, so I can show him how I'm different than, you know, anyone that can't be live. You know what I mean? They're always trying to find an edge, and if you're never fully live, I don't think you fully give guys opportunity to be who they want to be or who they can be. So that being said, you know, I will cast my vote, but that will not be my final decision on that, but I will cast my vote. I think I said, hey, I'm going to do well. It was good for all parties involved, and more we can do that better, but ensure that is coming to a close here very quickly. So. Right. Jeremiah off the field. We saw after practice on Saturday that the mob that came to get autographs and things. When you're working with him on all these things you're talking about, but also dealing with the life of being one of the biggest names in college football, how do you help mentor him in that aspect?

Yeah, I mean, it's a blessing to be able to be in a position where you know, can provide insight or I wouldn't say recommendations, but just give perspective. Well, he chooses to receive the first perspective or not one and not me. He always does, but which is fine. But to be in that position is really humbling. That being said, he does a really good job on his own. He doesn't need to check talent too much. He's really done a great job. Again, the way he was raised in his morals and humble would always sign and taking pictures. I'm always trying to be the bad guy for him because he's not going to be and just says again more about his character. But he's not the only guy any guy would kind of do that. We have a group full of awesome young guys, but Jeremiah has done a great job with it. He's on it. And it's definitely growing at an exponential rate to say the least, but I think he's built for it and he's been handled at a high level. But those around them were trying to help him out a little bit.

What made Queen C the first freshman to do this black striker issue? Yeah, I mean, that's a good question. I think that, you know, frankly, you know, I don't, I'm not really fully involved with that. So I can be, but I wasn't. I think that people on the outside would be defense or even coach day or anybody brought it to my attention. You know, we're kind of just going about practice and that's our expectation to make plays, not make mistakes. And he was starting to make a lot of a lot of plays consistently. I think the consistent level that he's been as a person, being on being on time and doing his job description on each play and the ball is coming your way or making some big plays. You know, it starts, it starts being seen by your peers and your peers start asking for it. They start barking, getting a stripe off all those kind of things. That's the ultimate sign of respect. I think when your peers, you know, go to your bat. He's not going for his bat. No one, people are bringing it to your position coach.

I think it speaks volumes of the general respect that you're earning through the process. So I think it's something like that happened. And, you know, as well as served based on his peers and the other coaches. Step on christianekleadland.com. Ryan Day was talking about how impressed he's been this spring with Austin's serval. All that he's been able to do and Tyler Bohn was talking last week about the importance of the cross training and all that that goes into that. How much have you seen Austin benefit from this spring and everywhere that he's been and how big of a piece do you think he's going to be regardless of where he fits on this offensive line? Yeah, I think Austin's been awesome. I mean, he literally, you know, what was they say, he played every spot, every position, which is the move around, you know, and he handles it. And, you know, he's one of those guys. I feel like you watch film over and over again day after day. His name never really gets brought up, you know, in a good way. Like he on the online, your name gets brought up when. Usually not going as well, you know, I mean, they're literally at the point of attack on every single play. So there's nowhere to hide. And so, but Austin, when his name is brought up, it's like, man, that was a good job. Very good job. Pass off that combo.

Whatever, it's always positive and been really impressed with him. He started in the winter to a great job through the winter again, continuing to build a respect for his peers. And then he's going to a good job. Really good job just being very consistent to spring. Are left, Jeff Gilbert, press pros? Brian, since you've been working more with the whole offense, when it comes to quarterback play, what has grown in your, I don't know, appreciation of that position and what those guys have to do and go through? What do you think more about those guys versus maybe what you thought before is just a wide receiver guy? Yeah, I mean, I mean, there's no just a wide receiver guy. If you are just wide receiver guy, you won't be a very later on. It's all about quarterback play, you know, so I think in that same world, though, to the point is that, you know, in order to be a great receiver or receiver guy, whatever you want to call it, there's only one page, just a core backstage page. So everything is based off them. There, whether they're progression, they're timing, the stresses they have is what we're trying to minimize.

So if you don't fully understand the quarterback play, it's hard to maximize receiver play, I think. That being said, yeah, I mean, I'm still always learning. I think that I can't say anything's jumped out massively right now. But I would say that, you know, I guess I would say that the preparation level, I mean, the what is required to execute and play at a high level, it's just not capable in the a lot of time, right? I mean, there's only so much time where I'd be with players. If you're not willing to spend, you know, your own time getting prepared for practice to be to maximize one's ability. There's a good chance you're not going to maximize your ability. So, you know, other positions, I mean, aligns same thing. I mean, receiver play sometimes can, you know, get away from it. We do a great job studying and being in the room extra for sure, but the requirement of a quarterback to know the fixed protections, the BR run game coordinator based on the calls, you know, to get us in different checks.

There's so much thing to know. And frankly, the, you know, the online is good as the quarterback, the receivers, the course back, the offense is going to the quarterback and it's our responsibility to put guys in position to maximize what they're capable of maximizing. But their inability to notice that they can just spend extra time outside the allotted time, I think is critical. And the amount that it takes, I guess that was maybe a little naive to, but the guys are doing a great job doing it. Just a couple more coaches got a meeting, Rob Aller, Columbus Dispatch, Brian, you know, you guys reach the mount top, you got a banner out there, national champs. I keep these guys grounded, being in the moment, looking ahead, not back. Are you tougher on them? Because, no, I think that, I mean, I think we have a lot of guys, you know, I think it's understanding that we were trying to build the map to get to where you wanted to get to. But now that we have the map, doesn't mean we've traveled the path. So like we know what it looks like, the guys that are here know what it's supposed to look like.

The guys before us, say unbelievable example of how to get to where you want to get to. So the focus is on trying to replicate what they just did and how they operated. Can't say we've done that right now. So it's very easy to stay motivating because they already know it's not good enough, frankly. And so the last thing they want to do is put in a ton of effort and then not reach their goals. So motivation, I don't think is needed. I think there is a catching up of those maybe aren't quite sure what it takes, you know, and but overall, motivation is not what we've needed. Clearly, a message is definitely what we've been focused on and I think the message is being received. So not concerned about, you know, motivation and the looking back, if you will, I think everyone's pretty pretty focused on being forward and knowing we haven't accomplished anything. Steve, who would you say is the leader of your YBC? I would say carnal tape, Brennan and his pride, done the most, the most outspoken, you know, in the room.

Yeah, I would say they're doing a good job. Those are probably the two guys that would jump out of my room. Brennan, he's been vocal, obviously. Carnal taking on that role, more and being more vocal. He's their football player, obviously, and he's the only other thing that that process for him and becoming a more vocal leader took to say that on him. What was the question? Carnal, what do you think, like the growth part of it? Yeah, I mean, he's, I think he's pulled guys aside, you know, and had one-on-one conversations with him. He's locked in, you know, just I think he saw the impact that a mecha made and the role he played and to think that we're going to lose that and then be a better group. Part of it doesn't mathematically make sense to him. So someone's got to step up in that role and one, I don't want to respect them too. He knows he's capable of it and it's just the desire and the appreciation, I think, to be at the table now, the older head and appreciate the way I met him probably went about his business. And so he probably valued that, appreciated that, and he's just being assured we still have that.

Final question, Bill Rebell, what's the problem with this back? Could you assess the running back room? I think it's pretty much assumed. Both those running backs, C.J. and James think that tandem system is probably the way you're going to go again. How's it working and do you see third and maybe fourth guys up in the mirror? I think that, you know, in college football, any football really, you got to have depth in the running back room. I think that this very apparent in the NFL, it's usually a two-back system, you know, very rarely is it one guy. But in college, I think we saw the benefit of that last year. The ability to compliment each other is really important. And the ability for us to identify what they do great and put them in good positions to be what they are. What they're best at, I should say, is really important as a coaching staff. I've been very impressed with even the younger guys, Sam and Bo, and the way they've come along, the consistency, so what you're chasing, right? You're always able to, that's why you're here, but how often you do it ultimately dictates how much you play.

But overall, I think locksmen on them, they understand the standard in past pro and not being a guy we got to sell about because you can't pass protect. So we were blessed, especially with Trey last year and Quen Sean. But no, these guys have done a good job. They're competing. They've been very coachable. It's shown a blog on film. But yeah, I mean, it's always hard on the backs. Every opportunity you get to go live and break tackles really gives you the most feedback on what these guys are capable of. If you're just playing tag out there, you never get any art. At least you shouldn't. But the running backs on contact days have done a good job. James has done a really good job growing, really excited about him. Everyone's really excited about him and CJ. So, I think ultimately, how good will the group be? It's probably based on the bottom rising. You're going to have some guys at the top, but where's the floor?

And so I think Bo and Sam has done a really good job. And many more guys to get healthy. And more guys on campus, but very encouraged. And you saw him improve. And then McLean, I think, is a great plus. I mean, he is a guy that has football intelligence. He's picked it up. He's kind of one of those incoming freshmen who still should be in high school. He's a guy. I think you're going to point to. And you can see right now he's going to be a player. Over to the right, Austin Ward, the podcast. What was a healthy Mitchell Melton? How does he fit in for your defense? What does he bring to it? Yeah, he's, you know, Mitch is that combination player, you know, in our four down, you know, he's a guy that can do a lot of things, drop, fold in there and make plays. You see some of that all the time. Really athletic, you know, we're kind of loaded at that end position. So he's going to play there.

But like I said, last year we, we haven't needed it, but he's a guy you would point to along with C. J. Hicks, you know, for the for the long season. People get injured, you get a little light inside. It's always hard on the defensive tackles. But if you're going to play with three ends, you know, that's Mitch is a guy who definitely can do all that he has that. Over to the left, Joey Kaufman, Columbus, dispatch. Jim, you've talked about this before, but I think in past years where you're going up against a really talented receiver group offense to encourage your players to. It's not okay if they give up the play and to go nearly almost the first half today where you the offense didn't get in the end zone until the late in the second half just. And you guys have guys down the second area, just what did you think of that sort of trend and how it's evolved in the way you guys almost shut him out of the first half. It's become an expectation now. You know, our DB's, you know, our BIA, Best in America, we led the country in past defense.

I think there's 96 what I got here and it was number one last year. They've taken that spirit. So it's a competitive spirit. It's an expectation now. It doesn't matter who we're going against. It's, they view it as a standard. So that was good to see in the first first half. Over to the right Spencer Holbrook, Letterman role. Jim, we've talked about safety changing the way that you play defense in the Leo and the linebackers, but how much does having the depth that you guys have a defensive tackle change the way that you can do things defensively. Yeah, I mean, you're going to play to your strengths, you know, and that's that's my job is to what do we have and what do we do best and when you have defensive tackles, and I've said it before, it helped our defense so much last year when you have defensive tackles that actually make tackles, which is what we have right now. It changes the way you call a game. You know, it certainly helps you be in better shape on explosive plays on the back end.

You don't have to do a whole lot to help those guys out because they're making tackles. So you got to go, you got to go with that. You know, you got to let those guys play and they're good. So you can't get too far away from the scheme of having those defensive tackles make place because they're doing it and it works. So you got over to the left, Tony Gurdman, Buckeye Huddle. Jim Ryan talked about the quarterback run being more of a thing with the offense. During the season, how much of when you're facing a team like that, how much does that impact your day to day throughout the week preparing for that? Yeah, it's a ton, you know, it I think it changes everything you do on defense. You see it everywhere from the NFL on down if you have a quarterback who can make plays with his feet. Your scheme better be designed that, you know, to to take that away into account for it. So it changes the way you look at everything when you're game planning. Thank you, Donovan. Over here to the right. Tim May, the Tim May podcast. Jim, you might be doing it when I asked Ryan about just for example Calvin Simpson, but the corner seemed to be playing almost with the chip owner shoulder to a certain

way. David, the big but no sin took the day personally look like you know to make is some of the height going into the game, but what do you see from that group in particular that Buis you going into this off season? Yeah, when you can when you have corners that you can count on again, it's just like having defensive tackles in the run game when you have corners you can count on that are going to compete all the time no matter what the situation is. And we've developed that again, it changes the way you call the entire game. I mean you you're able to leave those guys on an island. You're able to switch up coverages and they know what they're doing and they take great pride in it. So having those guys out there in the development. It's a big deal. It really is. And it's not jumping over. Yeah, I mean he's he did come in late and you know he compete. He's one of those guys that just competes every day doesn't say much.

You know he's trying to live up to the standard of the other guys and you see him coming along you know you see him step by step coming along and you know put him in a competitive atmosphere. See him step up. That's a great sign. And final question for coach Noel's Dan Hope 11 Warriors. You mentioned CJ Hicks a few minutes ago. Have you seen him take the strides you need to see the spring to trust him as a guy who could be a potential starter on his defense? Yes, I mean I think CJ has shown that he has talent and I think it's my job to put him in the best situations for him because he can be a force. You know he's much better when he's bloodsing or he's directed because he's able to use his athletic ability but he has certainly shown that he's going to be able to help this defense. Coach thank you very much for your time. All right and we will bring offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Chip Kelly to the podium now. We'll open up the questions over to the left Bill Rabinowitz Columbus dispatch.

Chip what are your just general impressions of the offense coming out of spring especially a quarterback? We'll look at all 15 so I think you know this day is is a big part of it you know because it was the first time they were going to play some of those guys that were going to play in front of a crowd. That was an amazing crowd you know 80,000 for spring game. Now you can see some of the young guys kind of looking around like wow this is different than the indoor but that's what they have to get ready to play it so. We got better from practice one practice 15 you know it's so in evaluation through the whole process but it's not something in the players though to the will we're not making a decision walking off the field today saying hey this is the direction that we're going in will. We'll be very authentic and look through everything and make sure that we get a really good feel for what it all looks like and then who will best move this offense that's what our decisions can do. I do I think we got a lot of guys there that parts tough I think because you got it you there's guys that deserve reps you know when they're all competing for it so you know sometimes you'd like to be sometimes when you had a guy who's an initial startable he's going to get the bulk of the reps he got him better but they capitalize on we really rolled him you know if you were at some of our spring practices you're watching all those guys rotate and rotate out and as we talk about all the time you know the old that is is don't count your reps make your reps count you know when we'll put it all together and really come up with.

You know which guy do we really feel is going to make going to help us move this offensively over to the far right bill land is the podcast kings of the North. Hey Chip you some of me first talked to you that the the basis of a lot of your success running the football just kind of figuring out what your guys do best and then leading into that over 15 practices now how good of a field do you think you have for that and then what are the next few months look like as you try to piece that all together. Really good question it's it's interesting because the one thing that I think sometimes makes tough and evaluation is what a good front we want to get. You know so for 15 practices those guys on the other side of the ball were paying you know Jack and JT and Ty Lee can those guys but I know come fall there's not going to be anybody more happy that we have those guys on the defensive side of the ball because of what they can do so I still think we'll have a good thing we'll have to really evaluate that what we're going to what we're not what we got to get better on what we got to work on but I think the work we got against such a quality defense was was really key for us over to the far left Nathan Baird Cleveland dot com.

So you're going this time came out of the spring with still a lot of question marks about the offensive line and even I guess that last season came out with question marks when have you seen that progress in the time that you've been here and what's your confidence level that that offensive line is going to allow this offense to do everything it wants to do this fall. Yeah I mean I've been here short amount of time so I didn't know I really don't have anything to compare to so I kind of tabula rassa come in with a blank slate and just observe it I think we're really athletic I think Donnie and Seth and those guys inside are really smart and really intelligent they allow you to to be able to make adjustments in game. Just tucking football with some of those guys it's like well these guys are wired the right way and a lot of those guys have played a lot of football so they can bank on their experience there you know I think we we've got about four guys that have played significant amount of snaps and we got to make sure we can find out who the fifth guy is but that's similar to where the quarter back spot is I think and I also think of the offensive line you you're not going to play a 16 17 game season and just play with five guys you really have to develop your depth there.

There's going to be a number two center that's going to play a lot of football it's going to be a number two guard whether it's on either side of the ball it's going to be a third tackle I think you're going to get tested especially with this new in this new playoff format you really have to think that way so you're not looking for five starters you're really looking for 10 starters because you're going to have to you're going to have to probably play 10 guys to get when you get through a 16 17 game season. Over to the right Austin Ward the podcast. I think it was the first play of the game the T formation and then the reverse center spin move with Will Howard. What's the inspiration for that package and that sort of wrinkle with the quarterback. Mr. Hayes. There's a looming figure around this whole program you know we get to go to work every day and the Woody Hayes athletic center so it was good enough for Woody we're going to stay with him we're going to do it. We ran some last year I think we took 21 snaps at UCLA and T in a short yardage formation for us and we've done some different things with it but. I also I think our players had a lot of fun you know practicing that and doing some different things so.

It's a small part of our offense you know we will not be in the T 21 times in one game but you know we may get it in some short yardage situations and I think it's come back there's a lot of schools right now that. We're starting to do that you know it's really just you're trying to you know you got a half a yard to get you know you're trying to get your big guys in the game and. I think we use three tight ends and two running backs in our formation today with Packard being the full back in that situation so. There's a lot of different things you can do in short yardage but a little bit of a tribute to coach coach Hayes and and what he means to this program. Joey Kaufman Columbus dispatch over to the left chip as you look back now you've been here two months 15 spring practices or something you feel best about what you. You've been able to accomplish with this offense well I'm in a competition anything because I didn't take a snap but. I think the most impressive things since that been here is how close close this football team is. You know some programs talk about a brother there this is really a brotherhood our practices as we talked about how good our defense is it's they're highly competitive but they're not combative and those guys.

It's really work very very well together both the whole line in the D line the secondary receivers the competition is the but it's got to be the best there is in the country you know and that makes you better but I think sometimes competition. You know guys can lash out and it gets really combative and then all of a sudden the fight breaks out and the fight breaks out and we're trying to accomplish and get footballed them but I think the way these guys cooperating work together as a group. I think you're going to need the closest team and the most connected teams on the ones that win over to the right here Andy Baxter letterman or obviously there's been a lot of talk about Jeremiah but a mecca is the big return this group he kind of reminded everyone what he can do today what's it been like working with him and what kind of weapon can you be for you guys. Good point and a mecca has reminded me and the other 14 practice sessions of what he can do special player you know and and J. J. is a really talented player also but you know I think I think all of the whole group. I can't take it some really good things watching him this spring in for all of them you know I mentioned with the offensive line I I came in with the blank slate you know I had no opinions for not that really just why I didn't just observe them but you know that I think that white receiver is really special and I think there's a bunch of guys in there and again you have to play multiple multiple games after the regular season is over you're going to make sure you're going to need depth like that and the fact that it's you feel a little bit comfortable right now.

We got some guys there that can make some plays in the perimeter and that really dictates how people are going to defend you know so you got a couple really good running back you know so really going to load the box you really going to load the box and leave those guys more on coverage well then it's the core back responsibility to decipher that and get the ball of those guys so we're do they at least a double coverage a list of double coverage and now it's a little bit lighter box and you can run the ball so having too many weapons is a good problem to have. Second roll left Pat Murphy 24 seven sports chip we've talked a lot about kind of the quarterbacks maybe fine for the story spot but some of the younger guys what have you seen from them we got an opportunity to see more of them today than we probably have what's your assessment of them as they kind of get in this I always am so impressed with young guys that enroll early in watching how they get acclimated and what they do you know when you look at Julian and Aaron and JJ you know I'm going to do that. They should be in the hot lunch line of their high school and they're out here playing in front of 80 thousand people and they've really progressed when you watch them in meetings and listen to them and they interpret you know so basically the whole concept here is we throw them in the deep end and see if they can swim you know this we didn't baby anything we don't put the install in with hey you guys are in style we're an install this with the older players and then you guys you know go set at the kitty table and we're just going to do the really simple things with you you know where they get it all and and

the more they can digest the more when you're in a room when you're checking for understanding and asking questions and they can spit back to you the more confidence you have when they get in there with the plays that you can call for them so those guys have been impressive they're still learning you know they were the the guys today that we're kind of looking around and saying wow there's like 80 thousand people here along with the offensive coordinator in the quarterback coach because I was kind of looking around because I had actually never been in the stadium until yesterday when we had our 14th practice in there so I played Ohio State once when I was at Oregon but that was in the Rose Bulls I had never been actually in the stadium until yesterday so I caught myself when I went into the stadium today looking around saying 80 thousand for spring game that's impressive. Got time for just a few more folks over here to the right Dylan Davis Delaware Gazette given what you just said about throwing them into the deep end what stood out the most about Julian's progression through 15 practices and where he is as you guys head out of spring. Julian is a very fast processor you know he really thinks very very quickly on his feet like he makes really quick decisions he doesn't stick on and read he can progress and any

sees things really well for for a young player you know and not having been exposed to a lot of college defenses and especially what Jim does you know Jim Jim can make Jim can make a young freshman quarterback cry with some of the stuff he does but you know I never saw that with Jules and I that's been impressive his his ability to retain and you know him and JJ the compliment I would say them is if you got here and you didn't know what class they were and you wouldn't say that those guys are freshmen in terms of how they've picked things up and you know sometimes freshmen act like freshmen but the guys who are special they don't act like freshmen you know they act like their football players and those are two guys that are are examples of that far left Cameron T. Robinson the athletic chip you on the topic of freshmen James people's Sam got around the second half yeah you talk about how deep you need to be in this era college football but as you search for our B3 what did you see from them today and what is what is their growth been like in the spring

James really flashed early for for me not knowing again kind of let's just take don't worry about what the background is where they're from who they are the this guy of this stars that's kind of that stars it's the all back eyes and just how they do and I think James is got really good feel and vision he can hit things I thought San did some really good things today T.C. is another guy who really came along during the spring in work constantly talking in our staff meetings about depth we're very cognizant of the fact that the playoff situation has changed so you have to develop that depth you know used to be maybe have a pair and a spare was what everybody says but I think you may have to have more than that you're talking about 16 17 games you're you're really going to be tested that way so I was really happy with with how those young guys have come along here in the 15 training sessions that we've had over here to the right Tim made the Tim May podcast thank you Jerry you have your own podcast yeah like these guys all have like a name next to their name show okay let's work cool he must have some juice if you got you got your name in your podcast definitely okay by the way I like it it's not just the lunch last hot

lunch last while it's a hot lunch line yeah just two quickies number one do you feel compelled to let these quarterbacks know where they stand here you know it's coming up Tuesday you know what I mean there yeah you know where does that go I mean in your mind yeah we're all sitting down as a staff and visit me don't mind maybe he doesn't unbelievable job of I think all our players understand where they fit and what what the picture is and we'll give them our assessment this isn't you know we're not going to come back but we do it after every day they know where they stood after practice one after two after three after four we grade everything they're getting constant feedback in terms of where we are and then after 15 which we had today but but we we can't do it unless you watch the film and can can really look at the things because you may see something but you're on the sideline you know why did he make that decision well I couldn't really see the field safety from where he was okay now I understand why he made that decision so you know what what what the little meetings with all our players and that's that's always been the method so this week during you know between Monday through Friday we're all scheduled no one's going on the road

recruiting until after that but we're all a player meeting said every position you know offensive line defensive line line backer safety is everybody everybody's going to sit down with their position coaches and know where they fit and we see them but do you feel a pressure with with the transfer portal looming I mean you've been a head coach for a long time I mean is that on your mind at TSD yeah I think all the words were aware of it that I'm 100% and I don't think it's pressure but I think you just open lines of communication and everybody knows you know which what your evaluation was through the training sessions that we have guys we got to have we got real quick last two questions Dan Hope and then Rob Aller feel like you need to have a starting quarterback named by and whatever the biggest things you're going to be looking for between now and then and determining who that guy's going to be well between now and and whatever then is we're not allowed as coaches to go back out and practice with him you know and in college football you get 15 training sessions in the in the off season and then they'll go back to work and with Mick in the in the weight room and getting bigger getting faster getting stronger

they'll have organized activities themselves and they they do a really good job of that but once there's a football out like we're not allowed to be there to evaluate and even assess so they're really from a football standpoint on their own until August so you always want to do it earlier but I also believe every time I've been involved in this is that it kind of happens organically and authentically you know because the players know and if you say hey we decided we're going to be with Joe and they all think it's Tim you know they know they're in the locker room with him every day players understand you know who they'd feel is the guy and most of the time it the decision is very obvious you know when you just say hey this is where we are with it you know um but there's that timetable thing I don't I don't I can't give you an exact timetable on that so Rob Chip um you talk about Julian but typically in your experience you've done again like Tim said a long time

how long does it take for the game to slow down for for a young QB I think it depends on the individual you know I've had some kids um where early you know you're like wow Marcus Murray Odo was like that remember vividly second practice and he got to the fifth reading the progression and threw it out here in his big game and I asked him why I do it all I like I asked why because I just want to understand it and I said why did you do that and he goes I don't know what we call that defense but there was like a lot of guys over there and they didn't seem like there was anybody over there but for him to process at that time he was right and he came back the other day whether that was cover 60 other day coach I learned what you guys call the coverages but um it all happens differently I've got guys that for two years seem like they're just you know they're really struggling and then the light bulb goes off and you know whoa like they got it so um everybody has different learning styles you know our job and the evaluation process is to identify those learning styles so you know they're cognitive learning they're an auditory learner you know do

they to they learn by field is it is it more a field guy you know a more film guy you know it's all different and I think we have to keep poking and prodding and in in in for us as coaches that's the challenge too is what is their best learning style and how can we convey it because education basically is just a transportation knowledge but it really doesn't matter what I know or what Ryan knows it matters what they know so um that's that's always kind of what we're working on and study it and thinking about and kind of where we are and how much can they handle and then how much is too much you know because this may be a great play I agree 100% but if he don't feel it's a good play then then why is it in you know I mean and that's that's this whole feeling up process that we're all they're learning awesome we're learning them so I have identities so to coaches really running quarterbacks that's something you've always sort of lean toward or is it year by year case by case what advantages do you like about because all your guys can run a little bit

yeah I think a running quarterback causes problems for defense so when when plays break down the un-scheduled plays you know if you just go back to the recent Super Bowl on that last drive the two big plays where my home's run but Patrick my home's another runner and he's not calling design quarterback runs for Pat but when the defense matches up and plays two men and turns their back to the quarterback well maybe the best decision is to take off you know the second one he took out I'm like he may score you know a lot of guys go and they want a hook side you know and and and there's times where you have to understand if you do have a running quarterback if we talk about the best of the best ability is availability you know you're not low on your shoulder and taking people on but we are always looking for quarterbacks that have the ability to run we're not looking for running backs that can throw you know so you're not going to see us 20 times a game we're running the quarterback there are people that run it offensive styles and are really successful with it but with this group we have right now that's not now they can hurt you with the feet we'll did it when he was at case date you know obviously Devon took off a couple times today air took off a couple times today Lincoln's a really really

good athlete Julian can run but you know we're not calling design quarterback runs you know you're not going to see you know I tremendous amount of respect for coach Hayes and the legacy that he left here the straight T is about as far as we go we are not going single wing so we are not going to snap I didn't run quarterback ISO and quarterback power so but it is a it's another weapon you know and if it also keeps defenses honest you know if your defensive and is going to continue to bend from the quarterback closing he's on the edge and he's getting first downs well then the defensive and has to stay outside and contain the quarterback well then we can run the ball out and and hand the ball off sometimes in our running game our quarterback really is a blocker he's responsible for a defender if the defender is cheating and fitting in on the run well then his responsibility is to make make the defense be honest and and that's really air did that a couple times today and we had a block the safety was sticking his face in there so we took off from around the edge what happens in next play the defense is wider then what do we get to do we get a chance to hand the ball off to the running game coach thank you so much for your time and thank you for being a buck I was definitely addressed here you know this preseason

I think Austin Saragall stepped up in a big way you know with with Donnie being out and and then you know you know Carson can play both guard and center which is good and you know we've actually sent his done a nice job as well but it was good to see Austin you know he moved from guard to tackle a couple times and even with the ones he was in their battling his tail off so I think we have built some depth there but again you know we got to go play some games and see what we got to draw baller I'm looking for some main thing you want to see out of here you know again whether it's whatever happened last year is last year but I know that the message to our to our offensive line is we want to play I want to be the hardest playing offense line in the country now we got to play with technique but at the end of the play like knock the line of scrimmage back and play with your hair on fire as hard as you possibly can there's a lot that goes with the playing in the offensive line it's all the communication there's a lot of things that have to get into place I think Seth has done a nice job of communicating understands the offense better now he takes control up front and brings everybody together which is great but but to me like that's it now we could list a bunch

of other things but to me we've got to move the line of scrimmage we've got to be just playing with our hair on fire and knocking people back and playing physical and that's to start the game and that's the end of the game no no I don't see it that way at all I think you know we'll see what we got this year but I feel like you know we've got some really good young players in the system I think that you know we should have the best offensive line in the country that's that's the standard here has been for a long time and you know and so you know we'll keep pushing towards that this year and you know I think you know everybody in that room will tie the same thing Tony Gerberin Brian I was the situation the real linebacker you're sure you want right now I see that going well yeah so Sonny has really stepped up and played well he's made this transition from safety to linebacker very well I think he did a nice job in the spring but you could definitely

see as he went into the the summer just you know bigger stronger being more comfortable closer to the line of scrimmage it's different when you're closer to the line of scrimmage I do a better job getting his you know hands on on you know on offense alignment and getting off of blocks you know using a better job going a better job with his hands like he understands the communication the linebackers always have to be involved at the front they can be involved and fitted to the back and he's doing that you know I think he sees you know looking forward to play playing in a game and you know getting an idea of what it all looks like but I can tell you in practice he's playing fast he's playing violent and I think he's you know he does a nice job of taking the meeting to the field being very intentional about his work but playing really hard yeah I haven't talked to Jim because you know we'll make that final decision here over the weekend but he's certainly the leader in the club us can you tell Ryan I mean Seth McLaughlin can tell he's been there done that is he as he projected

that to the offensive line you're still when I'm saying from a leadership stand going a grown man yes how does that just come up how does it show up a bunch of ways it just poise it's not getting rattled when you know coach parks at you it's you know okay I got this let me get it on the control it's seeing something in practice and being able to adjust on the move it's being prepared when you walk on the field it's recognizing how hard you have to play at the position it's you know kind of all of those things into one but he's got great communication upfront he talks to the guys he's moving quickly in there and when you have experience like he has you know the game seems to slow down at times yet you know he seems to be playing it at a fast level

there was a point where you got a black stripe off and I feel like it took a step in the right direction when you come in in the summer it is very difficult to get on the field especially early in the season whether he does or not I will see but if he continues to practice the way that he's been practicing then he'll give himself a chance to be in the rotation midway through the season or later in the season which is similar to some of the wider see everything had before you know you've seen some of those guys get some reps really in the season but then make an impact later in the season I think that's probably more his path right now now you know he shows up and starts doing great and you know we'll you know we'll give him the reps he deserves or like Jeremiah is in a different situation because he came in here in January and he was a little bit ahead anybody who comes in and January to me I don't look at him as a freshman anymore they've been here they're in the program are we expecting the contributor

to the team? I'm still in there right there talking and communicating but in the skirmishes we've had it's you know it's it's been offense versus defense so I've mostly been in the offensive side still kind of going through all those types of things and there's a lot to work through this year just with you know the play clock and then it's what I mean by that is you know the cost of play communication that inside of 15 goes off just there's a lot of things that go on there and we don't really get notification on that so I'm trying to you know just help chip with that and some some communication that way personnel but I'm going to be very much involved with special teams I think with a two minute warning there's some strategic things that are going to go on again and a half in the game that you know I'd really be involved with but to your point just overall just looking guys in the eye making sure that you know they got to right looking their eye you know that you know they they understand you know with the situation what's going on in the game you know

I think that happens sometimes with young players you know they're just like playing the next play you know and that's not just how that's not how it works we'll get to win the situations and so you know all those things will come into play and making in game adjustments you know be involved with on all three phases you know watching you know the game in a tab with the try to identify what happened the last series I think all those things will be happening right now Nick is going to be the starter and you know that that competition going to next week but right now as we head into the weekend he is the starter and the plan is for him to get the first punter to go up and go inside against hacker he's got a strong leg he's made it a good transition into the country but also just playing you know football and not Australian or football which is very very different the you know snap to kick has really

improved you know that was one thing as he's a taller guy so the ball has to get out of this you know get off his foot faster I think he's done that his hang time has been good and he's been more consistent you'll see you know he'll he'll kick a few but it'll just go right out of the stadium you know you just got a strong strong leg so we're looking for that consistency he's shown that here most recently so he's got the upper hand right now and last question Jeremy Bervin and Ryan I don't know if it's because Will maybe took a little bit longer to make a decision in December than some of the other top of the line quarterback you answered he did or because maybe there was a thought he wasn't going to be the starter it can't stay this year but it seems like people have viewed him kind of as a game manager type of quarterback after eight months with him where do you see his ceiling and what what what is Will's special trait to you and where do you see him taking this off I see you have a bunch of traits there I think the first trait is size there's big he can stand in the pocket and see he's strong so I mean that's the first thing you

notice about him and then whether it's standing in the pocket with poise I think that's another trait that he has that's excellent he he feels the rush but he stands right in there I think the next trait is just you know his top end speed and he can run 22 miles an hour at that size which there's not a lot of guys who can do that so I think that's an extraordinary trait and I would I would say his overall leadership commands in the huddle is is another you know something that he's he's really you know grown into in the last few months when he's been here and then his accuracy he's been very accurate since he's been here and when he knows what's going on and he could anticipate what's happening I mean it looks right just feel it and and he can hurt you you know a bunch of different ways so you know his ceiling yeah that's that's going to be kind of you know up to how he plays this season but you know I see a player who has a lot of great skills that you know translates well to the next level so you know we'll see but I know his first focus is

on winning games around here yeah please play he's meaning he has nerves naturally so that's first complete I was good I was rolling also there's a weird game first time he's trying to play I was saying it was also yeah you yeah it's but like I prepared well and camp and practice all week and I was I was ready yeah I have two multi-year starters I did a lot I mean I could ask them hey what we got here but I was prepared well I mean I was telling Jimmy and says like why are you flakse? I'll be emotional excited it was just that's a guy from Ohio what does it mean to start a game it was always my dream to come here and play and start and having that like

me I just gotta keep going keep building those days and go games and keep building like what a much younger Austin don't you know I don't think even I told like me I asked my younger self even committing I wouldn't believe that now I have a couple of starts yeah awesome has this happened faster than you I guess you're technically a soft one plays a richer question no I knew that year two I was gonna see you some playing time now starting week one year two I didn't receive that but like I was ready in spring ball like I knew I was going I was going to play some stuff but what doesn't mean to you to it's not only get the opportunities to play but like you play well enough now I think coaching staff trust you they've got there whatever the situation I guess it shows like my preparation my hard work and just everything I put into this and I

just finally show it up on a field there a moment the top season in the end of the spring and and I realized that you could play at this high level with the ones yeah yeah the definitely was in training camp I mean blocking highly can tie every day like it feels it feels a lot of confidence and doing it well and not like getting balled or anything so here's he doesn't have hero and Jason Moore and Taiwan all those guys pretty much anyone on his deepened mind you came back as well so yeah he helped me a lot and I'm proud that he's our starting center not so what else is but I mean he's like the captain of the line he's another voice on the line with guys like Josh Fryer and Josh Simmons Donnie and Tiger that means another voice and

another captain up there look ways of having that and I'm with this much experience help during the game in the middle of the line I mean a lot he can tell you like before the play was going on like how to block someone like what you need to do and like that's a lot Tiger talking about how calm he is how much does that benefit you have a guy who's kind of been there and seeing the line it makes us more calm like especially me and pay as a first star so like we were up here what what said like he brought us down I mean we were like fine like our emotions weren't high we were settling is that like something he tells you is that something you pick up on by how he's acting how do you kind of mean sense what he's trying to do by how he's acting and what I mean him when we're on the side of him both Josh Donnie like he was telling that's like hey who cool like we got it but it's pretty much like everyone old cool group how much do the as a first time starter how much of the end that's okay me and a lot and that

was my first time ever using high pads we didn't use the high pads in high school but I mean you can say like try to remember the defense you can just come on a silent bring up we'll play and get help though probably the first or second you know but after the I thought we say our set away awesome thank you very much that's why I don't know but I mean when I for sure you got the job I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo I can run with the tempo you know I mean I'm I'm playing basketball all life in set up football and I feel like just the fast pace off and so we're running really fits the guys we have right now I'm really excited for that I know you can throw a football like 65 yards but can you kick a football 75 yards like Lincoln Lincoln what's your question how is your your room at the beauty he's a blessing man

I can't complain he's a great guy his name's linking keen hoes oh he's cleaner I think we're both really clean that's why we kind of pick each other's roommates because we're very clean and we don't like our words really messy well it's true though it's the truth it broke pretty clean so Luke are you still a cross-training attack or some or if you just been all guard this break oh so far I've been all guard I really don't know like I said I'm taking it practice by practice I could end up being back attack by putting on but now I'm just really focused in on this past practice is the next one so yeah oh that mean a lot um you know you put a lot of work in to play here and it's been a dream just for being an Ohio kid is I'm from a Ohio kid's perspective it's I mean that's the biggest wish possible I would if I would say that's it'd be pretty cool what was it like just last year at first game getting on the field for the first time it didn't like that's gonna be a weird answer but it feel like I was playing a game if that makes sense I get

I was pretty locked in I felt like just no anxiousness no stress no nothing really I just went in that first game was like shoot out here now it's time to roll you know I didn't really hit me I was like it didn't even hit me out there but no I'm like what'd you feel during this like getting out there at Indiana and I just like honestly I don't know I felt less nervous I didn't high school and it makes no sense um a lot I mean I'm learning from Josh Ann Austin I think Friars is one of my biggest role models here is my bigger big brother my first game so I'm up to Dia okay yeah no yeah yeah so yeah for Dia and Austin those are my guys man I mean even Miles too I mean all three of them that's those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well and I'm excited to see where they where they can get to I'm excited to plan and feel with them oh yeah he's not really helpful you know just keeping my mind just settled and straightforward on the next play

it's a great question um like I said I mean the I just need to stay consistent in my word I think that's the biggest thing for me is just staying consistent and worrying about the next play absolutely I mean when you see defensive when you see differences start arguing with each other and things like that I mean that makes it a lot easier you know I'll have those 10-11 all right play drops what does that like so I suppose we should be starting feeling like you guys would get an outstanding back in the first game I'm good like good man for all these things I have to do the same with each other I mean it feels good and good off to this race because I mean we put in so much work and it's interesting you know seeing a product you know that hard work take reserve since that just off its line wise is y'all prepared this week with the top of deck in there this season it's just more of down with Jackson preach season all American etc

I'm enjoying the group you know done of injections of very good football player when he's on the field he makes his presence up I mean we've all been training on my home there's no tomorrow just until the end we know it can be there's a sex with watching you guys we're even more of a force it felt like watching you guys maybe even if you're did it feel like that yeah I mean we put in the work during practice we practice really hard coach day really challenges a practice hard positions coaches really challenge us a practice hard I just to resolve it when it's rolling what does it feel like being in the mix it's a long way it's it's it's when you work hard for something and you're able to see like what comes out of it like that's there's no better feeling in it okay

no I mean I was really funny to see take a what what has set been off from brought to you guys for the first two games what's it been like playing XM for the last two he's you know he's really calm and storm what you never see real panic and having a guy like that met you and you know you're having really played as many meetings for snaps I mean there's no one else I'd rather have to my left and to my right you know for our end set those guys they do so much for this offensive line of people talk about his intelligence really kind of showing up in the film room and on the field where have you noticed that intelligence and how has that helped you oh yeah like I said and crunched him you know when when things aren't exactly looking like how we practice it you know we're having a guy like that like that we'll do this this this and then

we execute having a guy like that like this there's none better than that you know what you got what's my favorite cake right brother oh no I almost came back with a couple of sun to go some more take a look at it Marshall they got a couple guys big 10 rodding absolutely what do you see when you look at their tape and see 15 7 a couple of those guys are pretty pretty big since they're yeah and those those guys they're they're real players they're real players you can sell their coach well you can sell they go hard you know they're real players over that we've been practicing to the best of our goldies you know expect that and I'm prepared for that

so I mean we see they've been for G-Tech Flash here the other day they take the yeah they play they play they play a good ball over there and you know their defense plays hard they they challenge teams you know sometimes they might be overlooked and they still challenge teams you can tell they come out there with the mentality like no matter who's in front of the um I mean the actions right there right in front of you right now which is kind of a good thing and kind of a bat thing shake off the rest you know hitting back in it inside yeah I mean I um I hear from Paris every once in a while trying not to bother too much but no it's it's always it's always good to hear from guy like that guys like the one even Matt Jones return him back

for this year to just be able to contend for that job um I think it's a lot my weight my sister my height this more regard height but I'm fast on my feet and I just didn't use it that you need to try to have some still sometimes like basketball want to want to be on that just like defend but you know you got to stay and stitch where you're supposed to exactly yeah that's a great question I mean I don't think I feel like these two can answer that for the me right now I think KK here I could answer that uh I don't know what I don't know what to say about that what do you guys think I go games every day you know this man is strong right it I'm talking about like you get the basketball here like you know it's not like you can just do a thing like he recal is really fast but just the overall strength is he had and he got the grip right he doesn't give up on the play and like you

said he's gonna go in there and watch the film just doing everything better and then you should see them how to feel like from one to now practice now you can see the crew when I begin here if you were to follow us around all these things he's done like a coach man he's done like a coach chip Kelly's influence change your mind about maybe like the idea of tackle versus guard because obviously his offensive predilection was for like yeah the offensive line play in one game because you can a part of me settling in the guard that's um I want to say maybe I don't know but I mean when I when I'm pretty sure you got the job I was really excited because I'm one of those guys who's the tempo I can run with the tempo you know I mean I'm I've been playing basketball all life instead of football and I feel like just the fast pace often so we're running really fits the guys we have right now I'm really excited for that I know you can throw a football x65 guys but can you kick a football 75 yards and click it just tell me question Lincoln what was your question how is your your room at the beauty

he's a blessing man I can't complain he's a great guy his name's Lincoln keen hoes oh he's cleaner I think we're both really clean that's why we kind of pick each other's roommates because we're very clean and we don't like our rooms really messy well it's true though it's the truth the rope pretty clean so Luke are you still a cross training at tackle some or if you just been all guard is so far I've been all guard I really don't know like I said I'm taking it practice by practice I could end up being back at tackle I could not but you know I'm just really focused in on this past practice and the next one yeah oh that mean a lot you know you put a lot of work in to play here it's been a dream just for being in Ohio kid is I'm from a Ohio kid's perspective it's I mean that's the biggest wish possible out I would say that's that'd be pretty cool what was it like just last year first game getting on field for the first

it didn't like this is gonna be a weird answer but it feel like I was playing a game yet if that makes sense I was pretty locked in I felt like just no anxiousness no stress no nothing really I just went in that first game was like shoot I'm here now it's time to roll you know it didn't really hit me I was like it didn't hit me after but no mom was like what'd you feel there in this like getting out there in the end I just like honestly I don't know I felt less nervous I didn't hide school and I'd make some no sense um a lot I mean I'm learning from Josh Ann Austin I think Friars is one of my biggest role models here is my bigger big brother my first game in here so I'm up to deal yeah I'm up to deal okay yeah no yeah yeah so yeah to be an Austin those are my guys man I mean even Miles too I mean all three of them that's those are my roommates and they're progressing every day as well and I'm I'm excited to see where they where they can get to I'm excited to plan the field with them oh yeah you know it's been really helpful you know just keep in my mind just settled and

straightforward on the next blood it's a great question um like I said I mean the I just need to stay consistent in my work I think that's the biggest thing for me is just staying consistent and worry about the next blood to my game and I was I was like whoa I never had that happen like no other school like just Ohio State field can't wait and I was like wow that's crazy do you like I mean you're quiet but also do you like that do you want everything that comes with me I do but at the same time I don't just like to be a normal person I don't really like it to feel are you a showman I mean I was just like your art form yeah I mean yeah I want to feel I'm a little bit more chip a little bit but sometimes I still be quiet on the field what's the competitive part of you what did that when did you know to satisfy yourself about it oh I've been had that emissive I was like eight nine years old um it happens you mean just high-end house rate just to

be competitive that's the reason why chose to come to Ohio State just to compete each and every day it gets to go against the best DB group in the country oh yeah for sure I'm just going to get them two guys the best two DBs in the country I mean that's the reason I can't hear this is going to get God just go make me better each and every day yeah yeah yeah I said I said well he said when he defected a boy he said I'm here I said okay I'm be back and that's some be back then when I'm better play I just I'll just walk off that's it yeah I said I told you I'm coming back right I feel great just us three to be on the field together we're gonna make a lot of plays this year

all learned a lot especially from Carnell because we both play outside so me just learning from him and you know the things he learned he just teaching me and you know he was behind Mar and stuff like that so he just teaching me the game for sure what specifically you got better at I think my footwork that's the biggest thing uh meko shatla was looking at that's one thing I need to get better on so I mean I just worked on that in all seasons and just got better over time when still my work at the event I mean just I really don't know I can't really answer that but it just it's just in me like I just want to work that's one thing I think I say I get it from my dad my dad really the reason why I worked so hard because since I was like eight years old he just wanted me to just work and be the best at what I do so I mean I really I say different my dad

yeah I wasn't I wasn't flippin out of I don't know why people made it seem like it was that I was a bad guy and that's it oh he said a big example on me me just I ain't go say it was only just my dad it was me I have a cousin's name you know it's made for the Seattle Seahawks so I was I looked at the him as well me seeing what he was doing I was Virginia would take on Austin and statement Bailey something he was a motivation for me and just all the guys that grew up before me and my regardless area uh brow area for sure I mean just looking at the those guys guys like I say Brandon and for sure he was class ahead of me so I seen the things he was doing in 8th grade and I was just like whoa I mean that's something I want to do what you think about the expectations for you I mean I Chris Carter on my podcast a few weeks ago he takes you to be he takes you to be a factor from the first play first day first game etc those are big expectations you have bracelets um I really don't I mean I know it's big especially for me because you know no one playing a country

coming in and all the hype around me so I mean I just try to block out all that stuff and just focus on the main thing just the team and I receiver room and the locker room and no just first game come if I don't know see the as best tasting that y'all have for me I mean I don't really care I just want to go out then when the game I'm much of a confident person for you when people like Chris Carter Marvin Harrison Jr. are saying this guy can even expect a sea renal house date uh I mean it's it's something great I mean I just got I just got to go out then on the field and just show you guys that I could be the next no part of the great great Ohio State receiver to come through here so I mean it's a blessing and know how that but and as I go out then playing show you guys oh it means a lot for me to be uh was it the first freshman uh yeah I mean just that's a blessing for me uh for sure just you know shows all the hardware that I put in after me on the in the way room mister uh my dad really the maturity um no just be older than don't add my age I

go through my age um I mean a lot of people tell me that I don't act my age I'm at way on way because I might way beyond my years um me just it just gotta be mature and no at no I like the kid okay uh just no when I see a 50 50 ball I mean just I just think it's I gotta make the play and it's on me you know matter how the ball is uh if it's a bad ball just feel like I gotta make that play no matter what the circumstances you know matter if it's a bad ball I feel like the ball is mine it's no matter who I'm fronting me or no no matter what you're like getting between the ball and the fender come from I mean that kind of sets you apart in my opinion in a lot of ways do you always say that night oh yeah I did always say that next I was like since I started to parents year right like eight year nine years old I just found the way to you know make sure that ball is mine when it's in the air and I just I'll always find a way to find a way to make my quarterback look good oh yeah for sure he definitely made a big jump from in the spring um I

like his confidence uh he's starting to talk more talk a lot of mess on the field and I like that about my quarterback love quarterback the talk and you know just get around his prayers and make him feel good about yourself oh he talked on the field uh no just you just said a lot of stuff I can't say but he'll talk for sure okay Jeremiah thank you very much thank you guys okay I was on me my split was too while he wanted me to come my split down so that I was that I was on me that wasn't a good I was in it the result of that play inside it's clear that will the offense correct it is if you're single about one one front man they're willing to take that shot to you every time that were you expecting to have this bigger role in the offense this uh not at all not at all just coming in no just a high estate and just all the receivers that been here and I was here before I got here so I did not have no expectation that was having the role that I had

right now so I mean I just get all the things they got and they would be in this position right now is that so real to you then to be putting up kind of numbers you already have oh yes for sure I mean but no job nothing I still got stuff to do me finish the hand uh me he tells me a lot each and every day that if you know single hot single uh covers one of them going to you don't matter who or you don't matter just throwing it up you just go I just got to make a play as well because there's a moment in the spring or this drink camp or I say I say fall camp that's really when he was just trusting me just throwing it out and I'm just going to go get it yeah I should have cut my split now I think I was you know like bottom of the numbers I should have been like numbers plus numbers plus two I believe yeah something like that so that's the reason why he just played over top yeah that's who is just

the only great intercession when you look at your numbers you paid the history as a harsh woman on a high estate this is the whole coach program you feel like a normal parchment I mean you're an exceptional freshman for the University of Nashville as well uh I mean I love it I still feel like I'm just a regular freshman but you know a lot of people say I'm not but um I mean just the role that I have just coming in it's just it's it's been a blessing and I just can't think uh the can't say it's on me it's on God and just the coaches were trusting me they've put a freshman out there and just to go out there and make plays and just do what I do hearing from your teammates and the golf and incident you but you said you didn't expect to have playing time when you came in so what did you actually expect how much do you think you would have gotten uh not that much because you know you got you got a card to take you got mecha boogled I came back you got bringing in that big up you're all uh jayden ballot uh all of them guys so really my mentality just coming in just working learning and just you know play special teams and

make plays on special teams a lot of my mentality was you expect this to be different um me just watching them they uh way better team than the last three teams in play so I mean it's gonna be a better team that I heard last couple years that um we played uh higher state play them as we could they said so I mean it's gonna be a good game you gotta go to uh be a higher state as always better be as uh thank you thank you thank you thank you man oh yeah for sure uh we hungry right now um I can see in the air body eyes uh everybody in office office along quarterback will however uh receiving we definitely hungry for sure we had to go out there and pass it down and just put on the show Austin more in the podcast should you now hypothetically what would it know you more uh being interfered with not getting the call or not being able to make the catching uh I say be able not to make the catch anyway uh I feel like everybody's throwing me I have to catch it no matter how

if the defender on me or not I just feel like I have to make a play no matter what um I mean I play it started a I feel like I could have caught it but you know it was a passing difference but it touched my hands I should have caught it uh Dan hope you're worried Jeremiah there's a lot of discourse from fans this week about you not winning but Sean Alexander freshman year award just what's your thoughts on that uh I mean me calling is a great player as well I mean I can't really not kill um no Sean is a great guy I talked to him uh two weeks ago um it's a great guy uh learned a lot of uh thanks for him outside of football as well so I mean I really can't focus on that um I'm just worried about uh beating Oregon and and uh just going out there to pass a deal and just put on the show and what else is question uh Tom Moore fuck I huddle you mentioned getting bragging this by mission getting used to that frustrating we see that from the father teams yeah is that frustrating is that you know you and it feels like you always think you're open are you still open when you're bragging oh yeah for sure I feel like I'm still over no matter if I'm bragging or not um I mean me they just came out with a uh good game plan to break it me and a mecha and you know uh

mean just you know things didn't go as planned as we thought it would but we just got to keep moving on just move forward as well as I say uh Stephen Hellway did 24-7 sports did you mind the two touchdown plays that you had with Wil Howard how many times do you think you guys rep that to get you know those were perfect throws or perfect patterns and you beat your guy off the line of scrimmage just how many times do you think uh and what does it take to perfect that uh I think we read the least I don't know how many times and practice over the weeks that we had off um I mean just came down to you know they press me we we taking a shot that's what they told me uh the weeks we was off and he told me her before the game in the locker room I just got to give you a shot and that's what he did and I just made a play the first game against Oregon just how tough was that challenge against their secondary I know you have the penalty to get the end of the game but you guys made plays all day long against them just what what you thought about the challenge those guys gave you uh I say the challenge is gonna be you know a good challenge they have some great

global guys there Jabbar Muhammad number seven uh Nikoari uh the other corner of Manana and over there they a great global guys um I mean probably the best we go see all year for sure um we just got a good name you know Bio high estate that's all uh Tony Gertman fuck I have a dear by uh so why are you not open uh you know probably when the whole team on me I should say uh I mean I'm always open for to me for sure um me just no throw the ball in my area I'm gonna find a way to make a play as I could say step on christianick leave one dot com it's all clear about you know some of the great athletes that you got challenged and you aspire to be like I guess where's that confidence kind of come from for you how long have you had that confidence that you have the ability to be one of the greatest in this sport uh I mean a lot of people tell me that I'm gonna be great at what I do um since I was about um going into high school a lot of people tell me that um me just you know football is all I know and that's all I really want to do like I live

breathe sleep football like that's all I really care about don't care about everything outside of football like football is all I know and I just want to play football rest my life I mean just you know the weeks that we had all we were just working on deep deep shots uh cause they'll tell us uh immediately that we have uh we got to take shots down fill um we just got to connect on them and no will tell me before uh before the games like I said um you just got to throw the ball out then just give me a chance and I'm gonna make a play for you that's what that's what he told me and I just got to make a play for you that's what I'm saying don't be in that we can all joke we can all talk about the expectations and the start of this become you know you were just 13 games how do you handle that I mean just a freshman how do you take all these expectations know when you step on the field that you're always open and still go out there

and play uh I mean expectations I mean I can't know how you're staying for a reason that's what I wanted um when it be challenged I wanted the expectation expectations I should say um mean coach hotline just helped me uh throughout the whole year just preparing me for each game each week a mecca buka carnellate Brendan and it's really the whole receiver just helped me stuff I don't really know about uh it just helped me throughout the whole week and you know I can't really say as all of me because my talent is but they really been a big part of the reason I'm having the season that I'm having for sure uh Andrew Gillette's William and Doc Connellan. Jeremiah over a thousand year old first year when you look back at your freshman year what was the most difficult part about adjusting to the college game what was the part that you had the you know the hardest part about trying to train this one uh learning that playbook uh uh I playbook a certain else uh just coming in uh spring ball uh me just new plays in every week I'm like well what is this like this new plays every day in coach hotline like you we go you go be good uh we got no summer fall

camp you go be great so I mean just you know that's it that's definitely what's the hardest part just learning the playbook and a lot of other things I have to say for sure. How long did you get that down? How long did you take these days? I'm pretty sure I got it down pat right now but uh net season I really want to learn everything the HZ uh yeah I really want to learn everything in the uh playbook for net sure for sure. That might be 24-7 sports. You mentioned how many guys it might take because you did not feel out there so when you are one on one and Will's talking about when he sees you be one on one what is going through your mind as you line up and realize there's one guy covering. When that's all I could say. I mean as a coach hotline uh we do something like in a hotel uh Friday night before the year he asked me like a question like you get one on one something like that he asked me uh what do you do I say when and everybody just start laughing I don't know where I be like it's just true like you got a win you're one on one about or so yeah um you're right the land is King's of the North. Jeremiah they moved you around some

are going to send a seat to the point where you get a couple matchups against linebackers yeah uh what goes through your mind when you find yourself matched up against linebackers uh I just started laughing in my head a little bit um um I mean linebackers can't really cover uh receivers like that so I just know like it's I'm most likely gonna be open um but you know they just try to move around a lot because you know people try to bracket me when I'm outside just alone by myself so that's what it is moving me around a lot or left. Jeremiah you mentioned the most difficult part of your freshman campaign is going to learn in the playbook what has been the best part so far? My way is gonna rub off on people eventually um and I would also say that you know you kind of have to understand who you're talking to you know people certain stuff makes different people tick so you kind of got to know your guys you know if you got to get hard on somebody to to make them go or if you got to kind of relate to them and you know pull them aside have to talk so I think that all goes into leadership and you have to be able to that has to be a skill that you have to be able to

develop. Well, isn't that much coach day now that he's a true hit coach now he's given a little bit of a call in duty so let's have a check there. What's been different about you? Um I want to say you know too much has has necessarily changed but you can tell you how you're tremendous trust in coach Kelly um and what he's what he's going to do in the uh kind of the schemes and everything that he's brought into our program so um the fact that you know he has such confidence in in him and his play calling ability makes us tremendously confident so um coach day has has always been coached to aims can continue to stay that way um but I'm glad uh he's able to you know focus more on what he needs to focus on. Okay, I'm just he's kind of a field general in a sense kind of a quarterback on that side a lot of people may think just you know the Mike linebacker and we have Cody Simon who does that as well but um Caleb's kind of that for our secondary kind of make sure things are clicking on all cylinders and uh he's just a very cerebral kid very smart and he's able to kind of take control of the defense so make make the right calls make the right checks so um he's definitely annoying for the office

to deal with but it makes us better. I would say it impacts the entire offense um it's not like you know we're not oblivious to the fact of the caliber player he is but um you know as a offense you you come out and you expect to execute on anybody who's lined up a question. Yeah I never really thought about like that but um we definitely come a come a long way um since my freshman year um they've went to the lower days kept me all these years and kept my head on straight and allowed me to you know develop into the person that I am now um but so you know coming full circle it is really surreal moments of being my senior year playing against you know the pre-block on my first catchment so it's really cool. I remember Kyle getting yelled at he was a ball he was not supposed to throw and I also remember um getting pushed out at like the one or two year online so that's kind of a bitter sweet memory but um it was a great

memory. I mean I have to say yes if I don't think I should explore it I don't think I should be playing football. So what did you make out how he's? Who's that? Mylin. Yeah mylin came in he kind of has all the intangibles over his year you can tell he just loves the game the way he goes about his business um he runs every route to perfection he's a he's a you know very cerebral kid um and every time he gets on the field he expects perfection so he's just got to continue to develop continue to work and I'm really excited to see what he's able to do for us. Look at how much he seems to remind me of row over camp to be able to put this opportunity at start on Saturday. Yeah um I think you know it's no secret that he has all the physical capabilities that you would want or receive in really any position you could play any position on the football field with his athletic ability but um so a lot of it for him was putting together the mental piece of the game you know not just understanding what he has on a specific play but the whole concept understanding defense it's all that type of stuff so there's nothing

really that can get you ready for that moment for your first night in college because it is different than high school but um you know once he wants to get acclimated gets used to it I have no I have no doubts it's gonna take off for us and do too many things. I know you've seen faith continuing to bring um the team together yeah I mean it's been a it's been a huge part of everything that we've done been a huge part of a lot of the reasons why the scenes came back and everything like that so we have a team Bible study that we continue to do and continue to grow I'm kind of just preaching the truth of the gospel to the guys on the team and um it's definitely permeated throughout the team throughout the years because you know looking back a couple of years ago there wasn't that many people on the team heavily into their faith um and along came a couple special people who really changed the dynamics of our program but um you know in the Bible it says one man plans the other man watch but God ultimately brings it increased so um we're just trying our best to stay obedient to the Lord and he's done tremendous things. I would say kind of the the founders I would say of the team's faith um we're definitely uh master team for one uh Cameron

Bab and Xavier Johnson so those guys. What do you view as your responsibility as a captain? Um really what I view my responsibility as a captain is just as a as a person in general is to push um everybody closer to Christ um and you know by doing that I try to walk as close to Christ as I can myself um kind of be that example be that life where people look up to um and I think all the the basic principles that are found in the Bible in the meantime or for sure Christ we're naturally naturally make you a better leader a better person better football player in a sense so I just try my best to anyway him. So yeah I mean we have specific goals going into every single week um some of our goals for

this week is you know things can get sloppy in the week one you see it all across the country um you know false starts penalty is all these types of stuff so we're really just trying to be clean go out there play a fast complete football game um clicking on and firing on all cylinders so by no means are you underestimating it and you're pulling in we go out there on the field every Saturday expecting to pull out whoever lines up across from us so that's just our mentality so we're going to hold true to that. Yeah very very unseries guy very funny guy um kind of lines the room when he walking when he walks in and um he's just he's a true joy to be around um you can kind of throw well into any setting and he's going to get along with everybody there so um definitely up the uh the team chemistry locker room we love having him around so we're super glad he's part of this team. Oh a line they were getting back there a little quicker than football then we all also expected them to play oh come out with an edge we like we knew that they were in the team that created the honor. Like you mentioned there were some past detect issues that brought in some things maybe rush

the wheel or um some plays but when the ball did come out you guys were efficient in the passing game. What allowed the passing effect to stay that Olympic as even the off at the fly will be from the off at the moment. Um the ball just had to come out quicker and for fun. We had to see every day and the light I just had to get in that big hand and then run faster and quicker. How much do you feel like that game can be a building block for you in terms of continuing to be a bigger building for the offense? Oh I feel like each game a building like we a stack each game and stuff like that so this uh I just made bigger places again so like that's uh I just felt like it's another building block from the mad. How is the offensive line been working so far this could be emergency? They've been doing pretty good they've been not in stuff like that new guys new places in the stuff like that we're all trying to pick up from the injuries and stuff. And you guys have the blind game with this one the last one they've been doing. How can you put wide receivers help in that stuff? Oh we do got to get in getting the box down from the water you got to get in there and probably get the safety get linebackers or at the end and stuff like that whatever

they need that to do. On your touchdown catch so this is like a different ball a while to come down. Uh okay god. It's just a little bit of a struggle to win. Yeah. Yeah. Colonel what's it like? Like I used to earlier picked up. Did you figure the ball was going to be coming in sooner or later this year for follow my graph meaning you know don't get free big time wide receivers maybe four five. Did you figure eventually it would find you insignificant and significant times? Yeah I knew it would follow my way each and every week we have plays for each and all of us in stuff like that. It just really depends on what the defense gives us. Like give us one thing and then it's not a ball goes away from me or goes comes to me and stuff like that so ultimately it's not in my decision or ball goes. And yet you're blocking a state of point so like you're blocking is that point? Yeah our blocking from the wide out has been a big emphasis this year stuff like that because we lacked that pretty much all last year but they've been in a big emphasis on blocking it here from the water. And when you look at Penn State on the video what just stands out about there and maybe their past and past what you what you're going to be personally up against them.

Oh they are pretty good solid corners they play mannalyses stuff like that so we got to win our 101's outside of them on the perimeter. I'm similar to today I know you got an opportunity to get in the game last year how similar is there for you to share the cornerbacks of what you maybe saw last year? I'm pretty much the same uh man covered all around they got a little size on them and stuff like that uh they all probably pretty much the same size all around. Thank you guys. Thanks guys. Thanks guys. I appreciate it. Uh live guys that's a better pressure he's walked away. He kind of brings some good energy uh Jason Middleton right there too. Yeah he kind of uh overseas max of warmth a little bit uh that's pretty fun. Uh and then catching we uh we all have some pretty good opportunities for catching especially practice we're going to make some good big touches. It's a very competitive group this year. Yeah uh definitely competitive but in a good way. Uh we're all there supportive uh we all know our same conditions and we're all

getting a good practice. After practice we're working with each other and hoping to get better because we all know that we're moving each other. But let's see it's going to be all season.

I'm turning the toughest thing you know anything else. I'm playing really country ass. First lesson body. So yeah. Where did we get the brain? Now where you got your hat in that part? I would say we definitely have grown. What he started in this way. That's where it was started. I just wanted to get it hard. Just you know the hundreds of some of them. Also, it's me. I know we've been talking about like a lot of different forms of energy. You guys. I mean I want to really say it's real and the toughness that's real and counting the early years right there. Um so you know if it's a laugh I would fall star in the middle of it. Is that the guy you know those are the last but a lot of them. I would say our indie uh kind of builds it up for us for toughness because our enemies probably will toughness with us going you know full reps and then we'll probably be told what the block is doing at basketball. Working my soldier getting the hang of it. So you're going to have to split. But you know the split is really going to get some of this.

At how much was your uh come and keep family been uh going great resource. You know you've been being a football player here at Ohio State. Uh I mean being 20 minutes from home is pretty nice and uh my dad playing here as a big one too. So just being able to go back home and spend time with family is good. How often do you go back? I would say uh probably once we've ever seen somebody right around there. Not that dry. There's some good people. Yeah get a family. Yeah. Not there. Do you ever go back for a very high school event? Sure. Go back to being. Yeah. When the schedule permits. Yeah it's like when we apply weeks or this week I can go back. Yeah. Yeah. When things ramp up for a school and how do you balance that? Do you have no problem with the point? I. Yeah it does. Uh especially when the skin needs rest and they don't really have to. Uh you really have to go back and ask them both of them. Yeah. You really have to go back and ask them both of them.

Now that we're under almost 10 minutes. What what exciting moment is this without getting on the field and playing meaningful football? You know what brothers seeing the brothers to see. You just know them all the work that we put in and do. We'll go for them too. That's awesome. It's good. Are you a big guy that had on taking the environment or you just fall business once you step out of the house and find a field? I probably said it's a wonderful business. Like I kind of just kind of went out and I go out there and it was pretty fun but there's there's moments like when we had a big rounded Notre Dame on the table now. That was that was awesome. There's moments like that when we just kind of had political experience. When you were when you were at a club and getting a lot of social media. How can you prepare for that for everything that happened? Is there a way that you can get back to that moment?

Practice. You know, breaking the gears, practice a heart attack here. So that's when it's in the journey. And then there's a different screen. You know, we're on it at the game and it's just what I feel about practices like this. What you're thinking about is that's why you're talking about the D.D. You know what's the kind of working and defense practice. How do they push you as to have me better in the free? A little quicker than me. So I'd like to get my hands on them a little bit. If I can handle just kind of great golf or not. They're quick and it's kind of helps me get my feet moving. How does that help? How does that help? How does that help? I don't know. I just hope that you can have as well. I think that guys are seeing real things on. And I'm fighting for that new goal. What if they might see the top programs? I mean, you've seen a lot of those guys grow. So it's really more difficult. I mean, they can't block the teams. So where aren't the things that are just on the top.

How many guys have had a new impact before? How many people have had a new one? I don't know. How many people have had a new one? People don't know what they had. I don't know. I mean, it's good. You've never seen this before. I've seen some of the things that they've been saying. It's a little immediate. It's a little immediate. It's a little immediate. How important is the relationship going to be on that one? Good. We're close with them. We talked a lot. I would have to keep moving on and off. Thanks for having me. Absolutely. But I would say during mid-Spring, I would just frame. I said, OK, I'm going to do better this. I've had a really good summer. I grew a lot of turns here. What's your favorite reaction? I think it's a good thing.

Yeah, I mean, again, I've been a year ago. I'm way past it. I'm ready for this. What do you feel like your role can be? Whatever the name you could be. I'm on self-aware players. I can provide a lot of blocking and impact. It's been really, really, really good. I can technically play with all the guys. I like to realize that you've got two firsts. You've got all the different. It sounds like a great game. Yeah. I've had a lot of fun with the players. I think a lot of people are here. Yeah, yeah. Again, I think we've got down the center. So sometimes we're watching film and I don't know. That's me or Hansen. I just take a second. OK, I'll give you a big raise. So you can keep your hands up and act. You're going to try to just feel on the body. You're going to fall. You're going to fall. Yeah.

Yeah, I mean, like I said, they're the best in the country. They're the best in the country. They're the best in the country. And then going instead, we're working with technique. My hand plays my feet for a year. I think not for not being able to play, I developed a really, really good. What do you think? Yeah. Yeah. It did, at the same time, we were different skin. We were tapped down 26,000, 26,000 players. Here's more. We do do tap runs. That's more design. So it's different footwork and different body movements. I think you feel like there's just an opportunity for all of you to be able to play with K-1,000. Yeah. We're at this K-1 for sure. But, you know, we're not only competing, and we're making sure that there's... What's your vibe on? A straight move. We're in the whole group with a straight game.

One block. Yeah. What do you mean? It just shows how what we have going on in the highest days. And we're fortunate enough to have a program. I mean, a game on a national program. I think it just shows the power of the program. It's a good work and it's this week in Tilt Coatings. That maybe that started last week before Iowa. Do you hear thoughts on how you guys move back? Do you hear about this week? Yeah. I think going back to this foundation, I think of it as a team. We believe that we're built on toughness. It's one thing to say, but I believe that we show up weekend. We got when we showed toughness. But to your point, last week, I believe, you know, there was position groups that were challenged. None of us are literally taking a personal, but just challenged to practice harder. And let's see how hard can we practice? And so I think ever since then, there has been another step that we've taken. But that's the whole goal. I mean, I hope in two or three weeks from now, there's even another step that we take forward for where we are now. That's just the evolution of getting better as a team. And I think one thing I've noticed with this football team is that I think every single week we play,

we've continued to get better. But I mean, that's just life, right? I mean, the thing you continue to do, you have the hopes to continue to get better at it. But I think we're seeing that here with this football team as well. Gia, I think when we talked to you in camp, you said you were excited about how you guys were going to run the ball this year. And obviously, you've done that. At what point did it become clear to you guys were going to be able to kind of hang your hat for the ball to work out? I just think we're such a balanced offense. I think this kind of going against our team, especially specifically against our offense. I think there's just too many things you have to prepare for. Like, you got to respect the perimeter, and you have to respect the run game. You have to respect the stretch and the inside zone, all the different things that we can do, putting the ball over the field in perimeter, or even taking shots down the field. You have to respect so many things that just leaves gaps in the ability to gash the ball for, you know, six and seven and eight yards. So I guess to answer your question, the more dynamic we're ever to be on the perimeter, the more we're able to connect when we hit on shots.

I think the better it's going to be able to open up the run game as well. But I think Coach Kelly and Coach Day, they do an amazing job just putting us in the right position, and we don't have to think about that kind of stuff. We just awful mind that it's 4 to 6, 8 to V plus 2, to play as hard and as violent as we can. And we'll look at the scoreboard at the end of the game and see where we are. Is that balanced? The best you've had in your career? How would you guys characterize the balance of the ball? Yeah, I just think, I don't know, I don't want to sum up. I don't want to compare. But I think we're just a very balanced team. I don't, it's not much weakness. Now, when I say that, we still have the humility to know that we must continue to be better weekend and week out. But when I just look at our team as a whole, I don't just see like, let's go pick on this guy, because this guy can't do X, Y, Z, or we can leave him. I think we have 11 guys on both sides of the ball that are able to be dynamic and the physical and strong players. And I think we're just a complete team. But again, I say that with humility.

We want to continue to weekend and week out be the best team. We know we have to show up because on any given week you can lose. So we show up every week with the intentions that it's a national championship. So today's talk a lot about, you know, especially today's problem, isn't it you're going to have this team for the Iowa game? Yeah. What's going to help you grow as a leader? And what's going to help you grow more comfortable, I guess, as being kind of a voice in my team? I would just attribute that to my faith. My Lord David, Jesus Christ. I think before you can lead anybody else, you have to have a sense of the foundation of who you are. Having a sense of self, I do have self. And I think the more that I've been able to be strong in my faith, the more confidence it is given me into being leaders to other people, being able to be a leader to other people. But I think that's where it starts. How can you lead people if you're not really sure of where you are? And then also when it comes to, you know, practice, practicality of football, I think the more you have an understanding of the often, the more vexing you are in this often, the more that you know,

the more ability you can then hand knowledge to the next group of younger guys coming behind you. So that all helps with leadership. But I would attribute that to my faith, my strong foundation, and, you know, knowing who I am. Well, maybe some of the better instrumentalist of your years that you kind of were able to learn from as well. You asked who were some others. There were so many. I mean, this is being my fifth year. I've seen, you know, many, many leaders all the way going back to my freshman who was just in and past school and Jonathan Cooper, those guys to, then the next group of guys with Chris and, they are all those different guys going up coming through here. I've seen many great leaders. And I think there's something, I would definitely say there's something special with the leaders on this too. I would say there's not the leaders that we have on this team, but not just leaders due to seniority, due to, it's just my turn. But I would look at the leaders that we have on this team and say there are some fairly leaders.

Not just by, not just leaders, but it's not as Hamie down there. They're truly, we have great leaders on this team. The first question, Brandon was saying that he feels like Will is just built for the moment. Do you kind of feel that way too? Yeah, I feel like he never gets too high, he never gets too low. He's always locked in and focused. And that's the kind of, I don't know, temperament is the right word, but the right attitude, if you will, for like a better word, that's the right attitude that you want from the quarterback. No matter what spot we are in the game, we can look to Will and we'll be able to lead our huddle. We have confidence in that. All right, she, thank you. Really, man, it's tough practices, you know, hard camp and so far, and it's been tough practices. So really just coming in each and every day, man, it's just trying to get better. How important is Navajo and the run, especially now in big time? Man, it's very important. The coaches, you know, they stress out a lot.

You know, we've got to run the ball, stop the run, especially in these match-up games. You know, these big 10 games. So, you know, we've definitely been working, you know, to try to do that. So what's the most intense memory you had, the most lost one, that you got here? I ain't going to lie. It's so many. It's so many. Fall camp, no, fall camp, man. I got so many there, fall camp. But yes, it's a lot, man. Okay, what was the first impression when you went shot and all you guys first met? I think when he first got here, he came in the room. And man, he gave us this speech. Jesus was like, I'm a dog. I'm a dog. And man, that's right, that's right. I knew I was like, we in it, man. We in it. But no, I love Coach Log, man. It's all the deep friends here, man. I thank God for bringing him here, man. He's a man. He's been amazing, you know, in this room, on the same man. He's been a huge part of the same. So, I was talking to you about this. Have you ever had a coach quite intense as with Carlos'?

Oh, yeah, man. Coach, Coach Afro was that way. You know, he coached me that way. And Coach Log does it as well. And so, yeah, man, both of those guys, man, I'm so thankful. You know, that God has allowed us to cross paths. They both been really helpful in my life. Maybe on what other sets, the farm was the same the other day, or we just kind of generally keeping the balance sometimes. I was born as a for running back to work on stuff with the kind of your off hand, and you're not carrying this over. I mean, I feel like it's just a tool. You know, you can use, you know, sometimes that comes out. And so, one thing that Coach Log helped us work on, which is using different tools. And so, it definitely comes to show on Saturday, you know, sometimes. So, man, that's, yeah, it's really important to just try to work on those tools as a running back. What about contact now? And so, I'll do the proof that over the course of your group. It's like that's going to scream for you really, really easy. Yeah. Shoot, really, man, just like the part of this program is getting developed.

And so, really just getting developed here, you know, on the coaches here, they've been doing a good job of helping me, you know, grow and become, you know, a better running back. And so, especially having Coach Log here, you know, he's been a huge part of, you know, the success. I'm praise God, you know, first and foremost, but, you know, with him bringing Coach Log here, him leading Coach Log here, man, he's been a huge part of that. So, with Coach Log, you know, we talk so much, you guys have talked about it. You know, split carries, but now that you're actually in the season, you feel you're in for a drive and the coach comes in, you go over that third drive, where you feel that defenses are more worn down, where you're not in first time going in the career. You split back, those before, but you've always been with the future back. Now, you're kind of split carries. Do you feel like, you feel that defenses are a little more worn down than you are, when you get in there, you know, first, light first quarter or early second quarter? Uh, every now and I mean, it really depends on the team. You know, there are some teams that play hard, you know, four, four quarters. And so, yeah, it really depends on the team, to be honest.

You think split carries might kind of help you at all in the end? Uh, yes. It has helped me in so many ways. And I, you know, it's a long season for real. And so, the biggest thing is just helping, you know, with the wear and tear. And I'm just building off each other moment of two. So, it's helped in so many ways. And trying to live an even more in here, does it even help getting down up like, do you know you're not maybe getting the volume, you just might come out harder, or if it doesn't help at all? Um, Coach, they actually talked about that, too, be honest. Um, does he express to the team, you know, if you get tired, you know, we got, we got, we got death on the same, you know, guys who can come in and make plays. And so, he actually expressed that. Bigger tests are common, but what's impressed you about the offense and why in the month of the month? Uh, man, really the work they've been playing in, you know, their practice. I mean, I know y'all see it, you know, during on Saturdays, but man, really, uh, the work they've been in their practice, you know, it's, it's hard, man. And those guys do a good job of, you know, um, just coming in each and every day and trying to get better. So, you talk about your thinking, getting off, when you're on.

And he comes out with a step arm, you come out, you come out. You guys, you got speed off that mentality, I want to, one of another, one of another. Uh, yeah, man, like I said, man, there's definitely, um, we build momentum, you know. We build momentum, you know, off each other and I'll definitely build momentum off when Sean, man. When Sean is a great running back, I believe the shoot of best running back in the country, man. That boy, talented man. And, um, you know, I'm so thankful, man, to have him here, man. He's going to be a huge part of the scene. Thanks for having me. You're a great guy. It was a lot on the field. I'm executed. I thought it was just amazing to see. So as it's team, you know, I gave him the arms and the props and we got to the end of my bro. That's a hell of a lot, but he's just good to see. Did you hear him yell from the side of my? No. It was so loud, you could hear it on a TV microphone. No, actually, I did, man. I just seen the blitz click up. I would laugh. You make you want to go out there and get one for sure. Yeah, for sure. How was your pass program center? Oh, I thought definitely, you know, I didn't get a lot of blitzes as far as I think only at like, yeah, I didn't have any pressure on Saturday. So definitely want to share.

Coach Kelly, yesterday, is he? Does he call things differently when you're in the game? Or in when he sees Pravee on the game, he says no. He felt like that too, because the packages, the package, you all just run the planes. Yeah, I think that's just the biggest thing, you know, like I don't totally play it. I don't draw anything else because I just got there and just executed my name. Yeah, I know y'all are trained the same, but you know, you look at the guy who see physically he's a little bit different from that guy. Yeah. How do you like this package? I can see how much I shot this off. You know, it's only the first game. So I wish I could say, yeah, definitely how much I like it so far, but I think as we continue throughout the season, we get to showcase a lot of different. Yeah. So how does it compare to like what's your game? The Ole Miss stuff, the variety of plays, etc. I think just starting off the season at the point that we're now like, we haven't really done too many, you know, crazy dangers. But still practice. Yeah, you already did. I mean, does it feel pretty deep to you?

Oh, yeah, definitely. It's going to be fun. It's time to share. Which one is it feel like you guys are close in the run game, the bus you open? Yeah, I definitely think so. Like I said, we see on the fan, you know, how everybody has collectively come together and improve things that were missed or stuff like that, but I think we definitely will. I think we've gone straight at that big wall. What's that Brandon in it? No, what's your point of view of that? We're watching back on film. What's that reaction to you and how much of an emphasis it is that it was like you ran ahead of it. Yeah, definitely, definitely a big emphasis, especially at our position, super important, just to see what we do in practice together in the Eagle XB. What was the reaction to seeing the MAP roster there? I mean, at the moment, I just like, bang, hit him like super hard. Sure. Coach Kelly was talking about you, Jamie on James Peoples, doesn't matter who's in the game, they call it the same way.

And James, like, what did you see in his first performance? Do you see some similarities that all between the US? I think in James, man, just saying, I've got there and be super excited with the performance. Like, go out there for his first game and see him get the run and get the dirties out. I see him get the experience of like his first game, me and Trayfol just enjoy it. Are you surprised at all the sea terrorizing happen first ever game? I think just as a team and like, we're so talented and everybody just works so hard since we've been here. And you get to see what each of your teammates can do. So it's like when they go out on Saturdays, it feels so fast. Great. Coach John, thank you very much. Thank you guys. Thanks for watching. Just take a step on just walking towards the locker room if you don't mind. Really just coming in each and every day, man, it's just trying to get better.

So, how important is Navarcent of Ron, especially now in Take-Time? Man, it's very important. The coaches, they stress that a lot. We've got to run the ball. It's not to run, especially in these match-up games, these big-game games. So we've definitely been working to try to do that. What's the most intense memory you had the most lost locker in the year? I ain't going to lie. It's so many. It's so many. Fall count down, fall count down, man. I got so many there. Yes, it's a lot, man. Okay, what was the first impression when you went shot and all you guys first met? I think when he first got here, he came in the room. He gave us this speech. He was like, I'm a dog. That's right, I knew I was like, we in it, man. I love Coach Log, man. It's out of the deep, brings him. Thank God for bringing him here, man.

He's been amazing. In his room, on his scene, man. He's been a huge part of the scene. I was talking to you about that. Have you ever had a coach quite intense as with Carlos'? Yeah, man. Coach Ophor was that way. He coached me that way. Coach Log does it as well. Both of those guys, man, I'm so thankful that God has allowed us to cross paths. They both been really helpful in my life. Maybe on whether it's that stiff arm, let's solve the other day, or we just kind of generally keeping you balanced sometimes. I was born as a foot running back to work on stuff with the kind of off hand, and you're not carrying it all the way. I mean, I feel like it's just a tool. You know, you can use sometimes that comes out. And so I went there and that Coach Log helped us work on it, just using different tools. And so it definitely comes to show on Saturday. And I was just trying to do some time. So, man, that's really important.

Just trying to work on those tools as a running back. What about contact now? I'll do the proof that over the course of your career, but it seems like that's going to be great for you really. Yeah. Shoot, really, man. Just like the part of this program is getting developed. And so really just getting developed here. You know, the coaches here, they've been doing a good job of helping me grow and become a better running back. And so I'm a huge part of, you know, the success. I praise God, you know, first and foremost, but you know, with him bringing Coach Log here, him leading Coach Log here, man, he's been a huge part of that. So, we've been showing you, we've talked so much, you guys have talked about it. You know, split carries, but now that you're actually in the season, you deal with your in-for-a-drive and the coach comes in, you go over that nerve drive where you feel that defenses are more worn down where you're not in first time building the car. And that feels before, but you've always been with the future back. Now you're kind of split carries. Do you feel like, can you feel the defenses are a little more worn down than you are when you get in there in first quarter or early second quarter?

Every now and I mean, it really depends on the team. You know, there are some teams that play hard, you know, full four quarters. And so, yeah, it really depends on the team, to be honest. Do you think split carries might kind of help you at all in any way? Yes, it has helped me in so many ways. And you know, it's a long season for real. And so, the biggest thing is just helping, you know, with the wear and tear. And just building off each other moment of two. So, it's helped in so many ways. And kind of looking anywhere in here, does it even help to get you down up like you could just know you're not having to get the volume, just like some run harder, because that doesn't have it helps at all. Coach, they actually talked about that too, be honest. Does he express to the team, you know, if you get tired, you know, we got we got we got definitely on the same, you know, guys who can come in and make plays. And so, he actually expressed that. Bigger chances to come, but what's impressed you about the offense and why? Man, really the work they've been playing in, you know, during practice. I mean, I know y'all see it, you know, during on Saturdays, but man, really the work that they've been in during practice, you know, it's hard, man.

And those guys do a good job of, you know, just coming in each and every day and trying to get better. So you talk a lot, thank you, being off when Sean comes out with a step arm. You come out with a step arm. You guys, you guys beat off that physicality, one of another, one of another. Yeah, man, like I said, man, there's definitely, we build momentum, you know, off each other and not definitely build momentum off when Sean is a great running back. I believe the best running back in the country, man. That boy talented man. You know, I'm so thankful, man, to have him here, man. He's going to be a huge part of the scene. Thanks, right? Yeah, man. He's been working really hard, man. Even before the season, he had a great spring, great summer, especially throughout fall count. He took a lot of reps and went against Shooter, the top players, taught defense in the country. So I think, I think he's ready to have the build. As a bad game, would you recognize what changes happening whether they bring off the man as they go over, then coming in, or against you? I'm not going to lie. Sometimes I'm too locked in, I don't really notice it.

But it might be going down on hill, still clear that is in K-1. And so this is trying to motivate him. You know, he can do it, man. And then it's a great battle. We have the team trust. I'm going to go for one more. Praveen, on whatever things you can do, add the veteran as a back, to help those guys out front. I think the biggest thing is continuing to encourage each other. In those tough times, when it gets hard, I think that's the biggest thing. I think there's a lot of time to be hard. You can get selfish. I think I'm talking about something that God has been helping me work on. In those tough times, to not be selfish at all and really encourage the guys around me and spread his life. Is that when you've seen throughout the team here, of this past week and a half? Yes, definitely seeing that. We've definitely been listening to each other up and encouraging each other. You know, just really trying to put the pace and focus on the basketball. We'll talk yesterday about how this roster has been.

You guys have a lot of chances. How do you feel like you guys are turning the page of the roster? I think that was the biggest focus when we came in after that loss. I met as a team. It's just like Coach Day, really did a good job of that. We all got to own up to the mistakes that were made. One thing I love and respect about Coach Day is that he took it upon himself. He called himself out and was like, that's on him. It's on all of us as a team. That's one thing I really love about Coach Day. He was willing to check himself. What was the last week's practice specifically coming off that day? It was tough now. It was a great week of development, getting better and cleaning up the little details of things. I think that we can see and strive on the little details. We can really go forward. What's different about coming off the loss early out of this season

and you're here to coming up that first loss later in the year? I think the biggest thing is it humbles us. It keeps us focused on the right thing. I believe this is a test of our faith in the Lord. I believe he wanted it to go this way. We can see and trust him even when things go our way. He's helping us pass that test. You said Coach Day called himself out. What did he call himself out on? What kind of things do you say? He's like the guy. He's like a really starts with me. We love that. I think a lot of times, coaches will come and point it on everyone else. But Coach Day, he just took it upon himself. That's what he's going to get fit. He's definitely been pushing us and pointing us in the right direction. Coach, you lead him to the ball in the ground. How did he come up with this career? What do you see for him?

Kind of bouncing back from that. This week, how did this week pass we have? But a procedure down as well. Where did he add in terms of responding? Coach Siamen, he's been responding to that virtually really well. Yeah, he's definitely not used to putting a ball on the ground. And so he's definitely been working hard in practice to get that face. Coach Siamen is a really great player and he's definitely going to knock down. It's even kind of guy yet to go over to write out what that happens. And give him some motivation and comfort. You kind of lead the way that I have to handle. Yeah, we always go to the bench and we encourage each other, man. Coach Siamen, he encourages me. I encourage his hands. So man, it's like we're just sharpening each other and then and there for each other. You know when we meet him. The 24-teen title team's getting stronger and stronger. They're 10-day in the first three. Do you remember watching the league and those guys as a kid? And how did they put your memories of them? I'm not going to lie. I did not watch it at the kids. I'm not going to lie. Have you gotten to know them now or just what's your sort of like you with that team?

Yeah, that team was loaded. That's what I heard about the team. It was really loaded. I see highlights every now and then, I think, leaping off the like the Champions League against the family. Yeah, he had like four, right? Four tuts for the four. Yeah, I think so. But I know that team was back. I was loaded. So a lot of great guys on the team. Thank you, baby. I appreciate you. Nothing. That's right. You know, just coming in, you know, with the right mindset. Trying to put it in the work each and every day and get better as a team. So what are some ways that you and Gen Shaw are trying to contrast the complement one on the other? Some things that you may not be able to do as well as the other in vice versa. Shoot, I don't know. We'll see. Where is James step number four? So, man, James has been so good. Man, he's a really good person.

Man, good player. And he comes in every day. You know, just try to get better. You know, he kind of reminds me a lot about myself and so on. And this is hunger and everything is coming in. He's going to be a great player. And he's continuing to buy, you know, to overhand one here. And you know, where we're trying to go. And, you know, he's going to be a part of this offense. And, you said good person too. What's the matter about this game? Man, he just made so much joy. Man, he's a buddy too. And, man, yeah, I just love a man as a brother. Man, I got you, you know, just a chance. You know, I knew James Wendy was recruited. And so we talked a little bit. And just like being here, man, just being there to help him in the search. And we know the local community is being done and the conversation that we have, you know, just off the field. And so just being there to be that form, you know, when he's in the business, you know, just taking from that. They take the field of dollars. Everybody's usually sitting there and building it. How does the impact affect the one of them? Running game? Yeah. I just, I just got like, you know, down his, I think you guys know you are.

And I think you're right. I think you're right. Oh, man, Caleb Downs, he's a good player, man. I was so glad, you know, he's here, man. He's been really good for the defense, man. And, yeah, man, he's all around the field, you know, making plays in the ranked game, past game, everywhere. He shows up everywhere. What is your view as your response of love? As a captain, Jesus teaches greatness and serving. And so I just, you know, I think for me, you know, I just want to be, you know, the Lord's humble servant and just be able to serve others. You know, the players on my team, you know, how I reckon do so and be the captain that the Lord wants me to be. And so, you know, it's a big responsibility, you know, the biggest thing is just like that I pray on it. And that the Lord helps me to remember is that, you know, I'm trying to please him and not others. And so, you know, just keep my eyes on the Lord and continue to allow him to work on my heart to be a better teammate captain. I think that's just going to be really good. It's not really, man. I'm just so thankful, you know, that God has placed me in this position.

And that my teammates, you know, they picked me to be in this position. And yeah, I'm just so thankful, man, and just being in this position, like I just want to be able to bring Lord to the Lord's name. And so, like I said, man, just leaning on him, you know, it's tough, man. It's tough to be in the captain because every day, you know, you got to come in and people are looking at you, do things right. And so, there's been days where I struggle and just gotten a secret place with the Lord and just asking the Lord to for help, you know. And he bought me through, man, and he's been a captain for a long time. And so, I'm just going to be able to do this. And then the secret place with the Lord and just asking the Lord to for help, you know. And he bought me through, man, and he's continuing to make me a better person, a better teammate. What do you want to point Sean to to his first son for Saturday and one of the city early game? I don't even think we talk much about that yet. Yeah, I don't know how much we talked about that. We so locked in there right now, man. It's just when that time comes.

What would you tell them about that? What if going on on Saturday? It's a side of man. Especially first game being back in the shoe. The walk and seeing a fans and everything. You know, it's a huge environment. So, yeah, I'm, man, I know he's going to be so excited. You guys are waiting over two in the country. You're loaded. People expect you all to make a run all the way to the championship game. Who knows what happens in. What do you think about that? The new band is going to be in your city. And where you're sitting. I'll trade you on about this team. Yeah. Shoot, man. You know, it's a long season. And so I think the biggest thing is that we're trying to do as a team. You know, this year, it's not looked too far ahead. It just taken one game at a time. You know, I think that's the biggest thing right there, man. Let's just focus on Hacker and Marshall in the next game. In the next game. And then eventually, like, we'll get there, man. We'll get there. But just every day, just trying to focus on one day at a time, just putting in the work. And I'm preparing for the opponent. You know, we have each week.

All right, right. Thank you. Thanks for having me. Appreciate you, man. I'm so, you know, it's been great. And the more that I just throw to these receivers and just get, you know, get around these guys, you know, the more, or we're coming together and becoming a team. And it's, it's cool to see and we just got to keep, keep doing it and keep practicing as hard as we as men. So I think that's what I practice. It's been what it is like, but not like, you know, right? You know, I think I've, I think I've done a pretty good job protecting the football and, and being smart with my decisions. You know, I think that I want to continue to push the ball down the field when I, when I have opportunities to and be accurate down the field and, and get, get some more air on my, on my heat balls. Those are just a couple things that I've, I've thought about personally, but, you know, I think, I think one of the bigger things is, you know, what are we doing as a team? And, you know, obviously, you know, I'm thinking about myself and how I can be better, but, you know, the bigger thing is how can we be better as a team? How can I facilitate that being a quarterback?

You know, how can I encourage somebody, you know, before we go out there to remind them, hey, you know, if it's a running back, you know, make sure on 60 on whatever protection, you know, you've got these guys, you know, doing, doing things like that is, is something I want to continue to grow in for my team, you know, because that's, at the end of the day, you know, all 11 guys have to do their job, every single play and, you know, being the quarterback, you kind of have to facilitate that a little bit and help those guys and make sure that, you know, we're, we're being the best team we can be. Yeah, I felt fast, it was nice to, nice to get out and running a little bit. You know, I, I, we made a little, made a little QB call on that play, and then got out and ran, and it was fun, you know, obviously it's, it's nice to compete with those guys and running, you know, trying out runs and some PVs that are really, really fast. But yeah, it was a good play. No, wait, I know when you're in your, you talk about, you want to do it with all of the past,

you know, it's a big, priority for you to come in, you feel like you're like, something like that? Oh, yeah, absolutely. That's a big part of my game and it's going to need to be a part of our game as an offense. You know, whether that's in the re-game and in the scramble game, whatever it may be, and you know, I just want these guys on my team to know that, you know, I'm willing to run the ball and go get that extra yard when I need to, you know, because at the end of the day, that's what really, that's what it really comes down to. You know, are we going to run some quarterback, you know, run place, sure, but, you know, at the end of the game, when it's third and five, and everyone's, you know, everyone's covered down the field, am I going to be able to tuck the ball down and go, you know, go get six yards and run someone over that. That's one of the bigger things and I think, you know, I want those guys, you know, they're out there with me to know that, you know, I'm going to go get that extra yard. I've been part of your game, but some quarterbacks are able to run, but not willing to. I mean, I'm going to be coached all those games. Yeah, as a visitor, Peewee, I mean, just to make a play. Yeah, I've always definitely, you know, when I was a young kid, I was a pretty good runner.

When I got to high school, I was a tall, you know, skinny pocket passer kind of. And I wasn't really known for my running ability. I ran it, you know, from time to time, but when I got to K-State, I put on a little weight. You know, I started to get a little stronger in the, you know, in my leg areas and, you know, and actually my first start against TCU, third play of the game, I ripped off like an 80 yard, QB draw, which I surprised myself a little bit. Like, you know, I had had some good runs in camp and people knew I was good athlete, but like, I was like, man, I just really just do that. And from then on, you know, it just kind of became a part of my game. And, you know, I just got more and more confident with it. And, you know, the more you do it, the better you get at it. You know, throughout my whole career there, I obviously, I ran the ball. I get a mountain. I enjoy running the ball. I think, you know, people always ask me, is it more fun to run, to touch down a throw, to touch down. I like to run it. I think it's pretty cool to, you know, run in there and celebrate with the teammates. But, you know, yeah, it's definitely been a big part of my game. It's what we got to say is,

it's a good question. Everything is, everything's heightened here, you know, I think, you know, you feel, you feel the eyes a little bit and you feel, I think, I think that, you know, the one thing I would say is that I don't feel like I have to be a hero here. And I feel like I have the guys around me, so where I just need to facilitate and just get them the ball and make good decisions. And at the end of the day, I don't have to go out there and do anything super human. You know, I just have to be myself and trust the guys around me. And, you know, going through camp and through spring ball, like, it was talking to you earlier, Adam, like, going against his defense every single day is a, is a blessing. And like, I know it sucks at times and I'm sitting here like, geez, like, you know, in a game, like, that guy's not going to be guarded like that, you know, that's just, then, Zell being a dude, or IGB, you know, making a really good play, but like, that's real. And that is going to happen. And we're going to play some really good defenses, but like, I think we're playing, you know,

one of if not the best defense in the country every single day. And that's just making me and us better. And, you know, for me, you know, it's just, it's elevating my game. And I love the competition and we all do. So. Where will you play the first time? I think they're doing a really good job. I think they hear in this offense, they're doing a lot of different things and moving around a lot. They're, you know, they're blocking their catching. They're doing a lot of different things and they've shown some really good flash so far in these first couple of days of practice. And I'm excited for this group. I think G, you know, G's doing some really good things. And obviously he's, and he's one of those alpha dogs in the offense. Like, everyone looks to him. You know, he's, he's one of those guys. And, you know, and Will Kazmeric, so it's really good things. So Lonnie's doing some really good things. Like, everyone's kind of stepping up. It's been cool to see. I think that tight end room is definitely bringing the juice coach.

He's got him going. And I'm excited to see what they do. Yeah. I like you out right this moment. You feel like you're the number one quarterback, you approach practice with your discarded. The mindset wise, we have how do you go about that? Because obviously it's still a competition. I'm just trying to be the best version of myself every single day. That's, that's all I'm trying to do. And, you know, whatever, whenever I get thrown in there, I'm going to go in there and make the best out of my reps and, you know, show this team that, you know, I'm. I'm going to fight for them and do everything that we need to do to win. That's, that's all that matters to me. Better be in the best team that I can be. All along the line, just the first year that you know this, you coach guys, we're trying to see tricks of Billy. Can you guys know, for, you know, the LPSU, partner new office, you have that invaluable. It's been awesome. Yeah, I think it was long overdue. I think, you know, we've had these guys that have ton of knowledge, you know, and had all these weird rules that they couldn't coach. But now being able to, you know, have Riley and Billy and Coach Kelly and Coach Day all coaching us.

You got really two quarterback coaches on either field when we're doing like two spot like it's invaluable. And I think Billy's been awesome for, for the room. You know, I think Riley, Arkansas, some really good things. Obviously Coach Kelly and Coach there, you know, some of the best in the, in the country, you know, at Melody, quarterbacks. And, you know, the coaching that we're getting is awesome. And I think having the analyst be able to be out there on the field has been really big and long overdue. Well, tips that there is no front line. There's a point you guys are looking for. We're talking all the reps. We're talking about it all out on the field today. At what point would it be helpful to know who the starter is and then be able to get those reps and be the leader more fortunate to take it to the team? Yeah, you know, I wish I could say I don't really know. And, you know, that's not up to me. That's not my decision. I am, I'm just going to be myself, you know, keep fighting to be the best version of myself every single day. And, you know, try to make the, make the most out of my reps and show this team that, you know, I'm going to, I'm going to give them my all.

And that's all I can do, man. And we're just going to keep competing, keep making each other better and have fun. Coach, you're passing. You feel like a different pastor, you work day, state and want. Yes, I do. I think I've, I've tweaked some things in my mechanics and, you know, I think the coaching that I'm getting here is not not mechanic wise, but read wise and feet wise and, and all these different things. And, you know, I'm just, I'm getting a different, deeper level of coaching than I ever have before. And, you know, I have a deeper understanding of the offense and what the defense is doing. And, you know, my movement keys, my pre snap checklist, my post snap reads like everything's just been faster. And obviously, you know, my experience helps with that a little bit. But I think, you know, my work with my, with my quarterback coach has helped a lot Jeff Christiansen, you know, he's, he's helped me a ton. And, you know, I, I feel like I've just gotten stronger. And that's helped me a lot too. So I think I'm throwing the ball with a lot more confidence, throwing the ball a lot better. And a lot of that has to do with the coaching I've gotten. And, you know, that's a credit for those guys for, for getting me ready and, you know, making sure that, you know, I develop myself in the off season.

And, you know, I've, I've become the best version of myself going into football. Thank you. Thank you guys. Thank you all. Appreciate it. For my whisper, you know, the quarterbacks, they've had just the past five years, shown the credit rate numbers. And I've just done things the right way. And I wanted to come to this offense because by him, because my coach Kelly, you know, make you just miss the line. Staff it. Staff it. I had been in much contact with them. You know, you weren't really a, I didn't know that. Really one of the things that coach today says that you don't like to have your hand held in that process. Now you, you played up in the age a lot of time and you put both the, what is it about you to try and want that much coaching? I would say, you know, in high school, I had a coach that, you know, he was giving me my responsibility. And I, he would, you know, cut a lot of, my responsibility, I mean, make, make, make, make, and so I just, you know, I want to be the best player that he can be and take, take the mean with you, do things the right way and just, do things around.

I love Washington, Joe Barrow, he makes that adjustment line. He's a really good decision maker. I like Justin Herbert, but I charge his fans and I watch him play. So, I was about to make, I was just, you know, good decision makers who make these mistakes. I would say I'm a little bit more glad from working on the focus side, you know, coach needs trying to get the people. That's why it's definitely quite a confidence, definitely, confident you're going to play. I know what we're doing. I actually, I think I've only been here once in a few months now, so I love him. Really good to be places to be, hang out with friends. I think I've visited maybe freshman or sophomore year. Yeah, just, just for the camper and visit, just, just to see the facilities. I know it was only a few days, but being in the Alabama program, especially as they prepared for, talk to the ballpoint front,

what did you take away from that short period of time? Yeah, it was, it was really good with, you know, coach Rees and Kirsten and they were, they were coaching players hard and I saw the work he takes to get to the playoffs. And I'm coming here, just seeing the older guys put in the work and throughout the winter, you know, seeing our older guys and older leaders put in the work and then showing them the half of things. How much of a relationship do you have with air, obviously, coming in, he had been committed, you come in, you're both freshmen. What was it like before and what's your relationship side? We didn't have much relationship prior, we measured it in 11, I knew each other a little bit and then come in here, you know, the quarterback room, everyone here is really close, so it's a, we're all pushing each other to be better. We're all, we're all taking, push points from each other trying to get the training. The coach said that this is a good drive, so if you're a fight for pride, it's inspecting it. It's a good drive. I would say we are a cop, I say the prize, you know, come back from the, in the game, and there's a little bit high spirits because of the team of Germany. It was kind of a high-spice.

How did you feel when you came, how did you feel when you were in the air, you were just signed with the ballpoint at the first time? There was definitely a lot of emotions, but I'd like them to be on the, help me through it in my, make the right decision. I'm not here and I'm like, I feel the more brilliant, not taking the role, not taking the role, not taking the role. I have a true question to your point, because you're a coach today. Yeah, I can't really explain how that would be. I'm just really trying to take coach today, I can remember it for Michaelisper, and then take coach Michaelisper's coach Kelly. I just wanted to run the offense, because when they want to, I just took their coach and points and then tried to put it on my hand. Did you look at your coach's point, or did you break the game, and I think that's probably the end of the game. What about your game, do you think you tried to make the ballpoint for you? I think that I can be a really good decision maker for the offense, and someone who would be absolutely making trust.

Did you pick your coach? Did you pick your coach? I think it's kind of a lot of things. I was always around football, my coach was a quarterback at Cannes, so he used it quarterback and I was in high school, and I was at the top of my phone, just picked it up. I was always around football, and then I just been at the high level of offense at high school, and really just had a lot of fun. Who's your favorite Tayden? Tagger. What are you saying? I have a taste of my opponent. I'm a type of player. I'm a type of player. I'm going to show. From a coaching standpoint, it feels a lot better when you're looking around like... You put your right hand down there. Now we had the sickness going back around, and it was just slide outside in. You're going to have two platoon and go both cards today.

You got to coach. That was good for both parties. As a coach, we can so practice, and then for the kids, getting really good reps that way. How was your season? It was just a way you could put reps in. It was just like, go ahead and do it. Yeah, just with the calendar of an offensive line unit, anyway. You're going to take the criticism. I think the maturity of these guys is probably what sounded or showed with Donna when I wasn't over there, but like... You had to hold his tongue. That's in our position. That's who we are. That's when you want to coach this position or play this position. You're going to take those. You're going to take the maturity and the growth of those guys understanding what they need to do, why they need to do it. It's going to pay dividends when we get on the field and start playing in the mix. What we're playing more and continue to play more like linemen and not lines on a page. I think as young guys and new guys you get in, you're kind of like, you're like, who do I have?

Oh, I got burned. I'm going to go get the burn. No blocking you. I don't want to block you. You're right. I want to block you, right? Okay, you can block me. Thanks guys. But just trying to not screw it up or get there, figuring it out, you know, schematically or whatever. We're now the ownership and we're going to burn. And this is how we're getting here. And this is technique I'm using. That's showing up a lot more than that. You're not blocking a pop up them. Like we do pods. We do individuals. Larry's guys and you got good on good and it's showing. And if that's the positive thing that's worth as a coach now, I'm sitting there feeling like, feeling better about it because we're doing it. And they're doing it because they understand it. And I'm not just saying, I'm a line on the page. I got to go block the nose. You mentioned Larry's guys. How much is it almost shining a light that you see a weakness on your line going against those guys? I would think it would expose it pretty well. You get a good read on what you have. Yeah, it's another proof though of when you're in a match up game, Ryan talks about this all the time.

It's you versus you. If you don't take the right step, if you don't communicate or get the right fit to the right identification, then really good teams and really good players are going to take advantage of that. If you give them something that way. So you're playing you. So for us to answer your question, yeah. They expose like, why did I get meat right there? Did he beat me or did I give it to him and he took it? And then Larry's guys can do the same. And what we get at whatever the technique may be on a zone player, a gap player, whatever it may be. And we hit something big. He can watch us say, hey, did you miss their fit? Did they miss their hands so that good on good that we're getting the goal is going to expose a lot of things. Not necessarily how good you are, but when you don't play as good as you are, if that makes sense. Hey, that's just an end. It's my pigeon channel. The question, but how would you see more, I guess, recruiting approach, recruiting pitch, most change over the course of your time? It's still all about, in my mind, or in my like, the evaluation. Like you have to be a guy that can come here and grow and perform and play.

The changing has really been with the NIO landscape. And so figuring out what that piece really is, how vested and how far you have to be in that. What's their priorities? So I think that's always, that's going to be a fluid thing. But at the end of the day, like, you know, I'm sound boring and cliche, right? But like if a kid loves Paul, it wants to be great, wants to get developed, wants to be around and play against Larry's guys and those guys in practice. And we feel like we've evaluated through camp or through tape and we've offered those guys. And we want to go get those guys. Is that 40 is at 60 is that 90? I mean, that's, that's all far evaluation of what we have. So from a, you know, the game football hasn't changed, recruiting change, yeah, and all that. But you still got to take guys that you can go on develop because that day one ready made guy in the offensive line set. Point them out if you're finding for me because they're feeling far between. You see a roster phone with five stars in the fire season, quarterback, corner, whatever. And it seems like there's been a little bit of a struggle to get those top guys.

Do you feel like your approach with NIO has a part of it? Do you feel like it's working? Do you feel like the pitch is a little higher state here? Because we're not done yet. I mean, you know, keep your head on the swivel here. We're not in December the long way away and weekends come up soon. And, you know, where guys are, where they get recruited, what position before me. That's what we have to do. That's, that's my job. That's, that's coach's job as we go together. It's like evaluating guys that we feel can come here and develop and play and help us to continue to win. And so, yeah, stars matter share. My wife could point out. That's a, that's a really good guy, right? But, as I said, those, that pool lineman is not as big as some of the others. I mean, we shouldn't go get him. It doesn't mean we're not working to go get those guys. And like I said, it doesn't mean that we're done either. That's a long way to December too. How do you turn this into a special spot? Is one super star guy, is that a fight line or is it hard to really get this to be a place where you're getting this guy?

Yeah, I mean, I think you just look at the recent history all the way through or all the stickers on the wall in there. I mean, you know, yeah, we had Paris. He was a national five star guy, right? But we had other two other draft picks there that the one was in five star guy, right? Luke was in five star guy, good players. And they got developed and they all those guys before. I got here all the guys on the wall. I mean, yeah, that's, you'd love to go get all those guys. But do they fit the next up round guys of the four star guys? Are they really a four star? Are they really fit? Do they really want to do that? From a pipeline, no, no, you just look on the wall in the room and you've seen all those guys that have come from all different levels. How would you say you're the evaluation style when you're dealing with some of these people wanting to hear before they even play the game as a junior, I need to offer for my own sake. It seems like the process is just kind of possible. It's a way of being about a valuation, right? It's about the direction of the bottom cases.

But how much harder was that they do for you when you're looking at a kid who's gotten the size you that you're looking for? But maybe the film is in there, maybe the camp performance was what you're talking about. How do you get him to understand what the difference is? I think you got to feel through the relationship with the kid, maybe the relationship with the coach, and just being frank and honest with him. I'm not smart enough to tell this guy one thing, this guy the other and circle back and all of a sudden you come back and it's like, what was the message you gave here? Just trying to be as straight and communicative as you can. I still don't think, though, you get into early junior year first two or three games which we're going to do on guys that we feel like right there you need to see. That's when the next wave of offers and recruiting stuff goes into. If the kid's just looking for a check mark on the internet, I've probably failed at that my entire career early on until you know that they're a buck I. To be clear, you set up now to pop up dummy, can I have that stomach? You?

Yeah. I wouldn't love to block you, Burns. With one leg or both, which you left. Just a few seconds. I'm trying to manage to. Got you. You got three guys. Last question for coach. That they all have. We're going to start. We've got Josh, he's a dryer. He's got. He's got one. He's going to have 12 or have not. Where do you thought it's serious show up? This was in watches. They gave the doubt. It could be, depending on the day, like you're in the dull germs in the grind of camp. Practice 12, 13, 14. That veteran guy that kind of grabs the guys like fellas, we've been here. Let's go. This is the worktop. We got to pick it up. We got to go. Could be in a situational field. It's an interesting or it's like, hey, it's we're going to third down period. Well, it's not just the other play. Hey, it's just third down. Now they come over walls or butts in, watch the picks, watch the twists, whatever the batter is. Maybe. I think it'll show them in the games. When we hit the first real adversity through whatever game, whatever quarter or whatever drive that shows up.

Then that's the next time I'm going to show up because they, as you said, there's there's gamesmanship there. They've been in there and they know now it's not the first time. Like, whoa, what's happening? It's, hey, this is happening. Here's how we get through it. I think I'm super sorry. There's something that you think that you guys put this in last year with a brand of set of two examples. I see that down there. Like, do you think that you were missing a little bit of that? Yeah, you just a veteran experienced guys, you know, I mean, you had Matt there, played a lot of ball. He had Donnie was coming into it, but then yeah, you're replacing them with three new guys. You know, one coming from across the country. Yeah, I've got a lot of covering on the guys that were coming into it. So yeah, my experience helps a ton in what's experienced you to set it. I've started this many games, which means he's played this many thousand reps. I've started this many games. I've had this many reps in the red zone or this many in it. Whatever situation it may be. Right tackle my freshman year, you know, six three right tackle trying to block jack start it was fun.

But going to guard, you know, obviously helps your drafts, so I can everything like that. But, you know, you don't have to snap the ball. That's pretty sick. You get both hands back. That's been kind of interesting. I know what kind of like at the end of spring a little bit when I was going in with that. I really didn't know how to use my right hand for a while. I come out of the ball. But obviously we've developed them again with that. So it's been a good experience. I know like me Luke, you know, take as well, I'll play in some right, I'll play in some right guards. So I ask you new questions, asking Donnie questions on the other side of the ball. I don't know, I love it. I mean, I just love playing football. So I'm killed with whatever. So good. What's the difference with Chip Kelly is the office coordinator right now. What do you know with the running game? What do you feel is different? We run the rock. We pound the rock, man. It's isn't really fun this year. What does that mean? When you say that, what pound the rock? What does that mean in your vernacular? I just think the way we run out of the ball and the schemes we're going to implement this year,

it's been very, very difficult for teams to combat that. I think the amazing offensive minds of Coach Kelly, Coach are obviously Coach Day and Coach Rye. I think they've come together and made some really, really fun plays. Not only, you know, obviously like really good schemes, but there's some cool plays in there as well. I know we've loved to, you know, run. I remember my freshman year and last year, our defense has been number one defense in the country. And now we've been able to really not, obviously, we're not going to beat him up or anything like that. We've been able to move a ball a little bit, so it's been fun seeing that. And seeing the guys really get into it. And I think Coach Kelly has been awesome and effective. He's a very open-minded coach. We're kind of stuffy tries. So we'll be reading the script or reading whatever we're like, this is what we're going to run this up to this. We're like, okay, it hits like 40 yards. And this is the coolest thing ever. So I'm really excited for this year. I think everyone should be too. All right, Carson, thank you for coming.

Thank you. Carson, you picked five on the rock. You're just going to find out. Yeah, no, I got a little blue color. Yeah, blue color. Yeah. Amazing. I think you're right. Yeah, this question. Yeah, I think you're going to be able to get it. All right, both of them are perfect. I think we need to be tight ends in two running backs. Our formation can be backward, being the whole back in that situation. So there's a lot of different things you can do in short hours. But a little bit of a tricky coach. Coach Hayes and then what he means in his phone. Joey Gotman, plumbers this back. It's over to the left. Chip, as you look back, and even your two months, 15 spring practices, there's something you feel best about when you've been able to accomplish with the summons. Well, I would have caught a shitty thing because I didn't think it's that. But I think the most impressive thing is that there is how good is the closest for both teams. Some programs talk about a brother. This is really a brother. Our practices, as we talked about, how good our defense is. They're highly competitive, but they're not from that. Those guys were really very, very well together, both the old line of the D line and the second-year-old receivers.

The competition is probably the best there is in the country. That makes you better. But I think sometimes competition, no guys can lash out and get really competitive. And then on some of the fight points, I have the fight points out. We're trying to accomplish a good football moment. I think the way these guys cooperate and work together as a group is especially a mom. I think you're even going to need to put the closest team in the most connected teams. Over to the right here. Andy Baxter, I'm glad I'm in the wrong position. Obviously, you didn't know what I was talking about, Jeremiah. But Mecca is the big returner in the screw if he kind of provided over what he can do today. What's it been like working with him and what kind of up your team these three guys? Good point. And Mecca, as you mind, in me and the other 14 back sessions, I think you can do a special fight. And J. J. is a really talented player also. But I think all of the whole current updates and really good things are watching him in this. In for all of them, you know, I mentioned with the offensive line, I came in with the blinds. So, you know, I had no opinion that's formed. Not that I really just by the eye, I didn't just observe them. But, you know, that, I think that why I'm seeing more of this really special.

And I think there's a bunch of guys in there. And again, you have to play multiple games after the regular season is over. You know, they're sure you're going to be a depth like that. And the fact that it's, you feel a little bit comfortable right now, that we get sometimes, and then they can make some plays with the corner. And that really dictates how people are going to defend it. You know, so you've got a couple really good running backs. You know, so, whether you're in a low-to-box or you're really in a low-to-box, then you go as a one-on-one coverage. Well, then it's the core back session responsibility to decipher that and get the ball to those games. So, we're doing it less than double covers. There are less than double covers, and now it's really a bit lighter box than you can run the ball. So, having too many weapons is a good problem to have. Second, Earl F. Pat Murphy, 24-7 sports. Chip, we've talked a lot about the kind of cornerbacks maybe by, and for the starting point. And some of the younger guys, what have you seen from them? We've got not seen more of them. Today, we probably have what's your assessment of them as they kind of get in this? I always, and someone trusts with young guys that enroll early

in watching how they get acclimated and what they do. You look at Julian and J.J. They should be in a hot, much lighter high school, and they're out here playing for 80,000 people. And they've really progressed when you watch that and meetings and listen to them, and they interpret. Basically, the whole concept theory is, we throw them in the deep end, and see if they can swim. There's three in the baby, anything. We don't put the install in with, hey, you guys are in, it's not where I'm in install. This is where the older players, and then you guys go set the kitty tape on, and they're going to do really simple things with you. They get it all in the more they can digest, the more when you're in a row, when you're chucking for understanding, and asking questions, and they can step back to you to the more confidence you have, and then with the plays that you can call for. Those guys have been in process. They're still living. They were the guys today that were kind of looking around, saying, well, there's nothing to do with that. That's what people do. Along with the offensive coordinator, the corporate coach,

because I just got lucky with that. I've actually never been in the stadium, so yesterday when we had 14 practice in there. I played Ohio State once when I was in Oregon, that was in Roseville, time never been in the stadium until yesterday. I caught myself when I went to the stadium today, the crown, and then in the 2000s, I was playing handouts in person. I've just had a few more folks over here, so the right Dylan Davis, Delaware, is that given what you just said about throwing them into the deep end? What stood out to most of you about joy and suppression through 15 practices where he is, and what you guys have out of spring? Jury is a very fast processor. He really thinks very, very quickly, but he makes really good decisions. He doesn't stick on it and we can take him progressive. Any season is really well for a young player. And not having to expose a lot of college defenses. And especially what Jim does to make the young freshman quarterback. Part of the呼 air.

He thinks it's a long time died vertically and throughout the bridge of my school drie. I mentioned earlier what I saw in his outline and parted on this. I hope you have some good experiences of coaching. But the guys you were a special, they don't act like freshmen, you know, they act like football points and I know that you guys are on the team as well. Far left, Camerotee Robinson, the athletic. You, you, you, on top of the freshmen, James Beagle's exam, they were running the second half. You talk about how deep you need to be in this air, cause football. But as you search for Army 3, what did you see from men today? What, what, what has there grown, been like in the, the spring? Yeah, James really flashed early for, for me, not knowing again, kind of, it's just a, don't worry about what the background is, where they're from, who they are. The, this guy, this guy, this guy, that's sergeants. They're all black cops and just how they do, and that in James, it's kind of a really good field and vision.

He can get things. My thoughts, and this really good things today. T.C. is another guy who really came along during the spring. And we're constantly talking in our staff meetings about that. We're very caught in the center of the type of class, situation, this change. So you have to develop that, you know, used to be, maybe have a parents' fair, it was what everybody says, but I think you may have to have one of the nine years, you're talking about 16-17 games. You're really going to be tested, though, I suppose, really happy with how those young guys have come along here in the 15-20 sessions, that we've had. Oh, well, here's the right. Tim May, Tim May podcast. Thank you, Jerry. You have not won podcast? Yeah. This guy's all being next to the person. You might as well be like, okay, there's more co-op. He wants some juice, if you got the other name. Definitely. I like it. It's not just the lustfulness of hoppah, that's what I'm saying. It's hoppah. Yeah. Just two quick, it's number one, you feel compelled to let these corebacks over their stand.

You know, it's coming up to you. You know what I mean? Where's that go? I mean, in your mind. They're old, sit down as a staff and visit and be on them. And mind maybe he doesn't really hold up. I think all our players understand where they fit and what the country is and working on our assessment. This isn't, we're not going to come back. But we do it after every day. They know where they stood after the grass, so on, on to two, with the three and four. We greet everything. They're going to cost a few back in terms of where we are. And then after 15, what you had today. But we can't do it unless you watch the film and can really look at the things. Because you may see something when you're on the sideline. You know, why did you make that decision? Well, I couldn't really see it. It feels like it's 50 from where it was. Okay, now I understand why you made that decision. So, you know, a little bit, a little bit of meetings with all of the players. And that's always been the matter. So this week during, you know, between Monday through Friday, we're all scheduled. No one's going to be ready to recruit you. So after that, we're all going to be in to every position. You know, offensive line. Defensive line.

I'm not ever saying these are going to be. Everybody's going to sit down with their position. Which is, you know, where they fit. And when you see them. When you feel oppression with the, with the transfer portal, looming. I mean, you've been a hitcush for a long time. I mean, is that on your mind to use deep down? I think it's on your words. Yeah, I don't think it's pressure. But I think you just open lines of communication and everybody knows. You know, what your evaluation was to give the training sessions we have. Guys, we got to have, we got to be real quick. The last two questions. Dan, open and then Rob Alter. When do you feel like you need to have a starting quarterback named by? And whatever they exchange, you're going to be looking for between now and then and determine who that guy's going to be? Moving between now and whatever the then is. We're not allowed as coaches to go back out in practice. We're doing in college football here, 15 training sessions in the field. In the outseason. And then we'll go back to working with Mick in the way from. And then we'll get faster, get stronger. They'll have organized activities themselves. They do a really good job of that.

But once there's a football out, like we're not allowed to be there to evaluate and be assessed. So they're really from a football center on their own until August. So you always want to do it earlier. But I also believe every time I've been involved in this is that it kind of happens organically and authentically. You know, because the players know. If you say we're going to be in jail. And they all think it's 10. You know, they're under lock-room with them every day. Players understand who they feel is the guy. And most of the time, the decision is very obvious. You know, as you say, this is what we are on that. But that timetable thing, I can't give you an exact timetable on that time. You know, I'm not a problem. Chip, you talked about doing the typically in your experience you've done it again, like Tim said a long time. How long does it take for the game to slow it down for a very long 2-b? I think it depends on the individual.

I've had some kids. More early, you know, when you were like, wow. Parkers, Mario, it was like that. Remember, 50-2nd practice. He got to the fifth reading direction and then threw it out here and it was beginning. And I asked him, well, I do, that's why I was just wondering. I think it's the way to do that. Because I don't know what we call that defense, but there was like a lot of guys up there. I didn't see like there was anybody up there. But for him to process it, that was right. He came back the other day and whether that was cover 60 of the head comes out. I mean, that's when you got some other covers. But they all happened to me. I've got guys that for two years, so you know, they were really struggling. And then the light bulb goes off and you know, well, they've got it. So everybody has different learning styles. You know, our job and the evaluation processes to kind of fight those learning styles. So, you know, they kind of learn it. I'm totally learning, you know, to learn my field. Because it is more a field guy, you know, a more fun guy, you know, it's all different.

And I think we have to keep hoping and probably, you know, for us as coaches, that's the challenge, too. What is the best learning style and how can we do that? Because education basically is just a transportation knowledge. But it really doesn't matter what I know or what I'm writing, I know it's the matters what they know. That's always kind of what we're working on and studying and thinking about, kind of where we are, and how much can they handle, and then how much is too much, you know. Because this could be a great plan. I agree with 100%. But if you don't deal with it, then why are we rising in? That's this whole thing across the several levels. They're going to be asking for money. And it says, yeah, identity. So the coaches, running quarterbacks. And it's something you always sort of lean toward, or is it, you're by your case by case, what advantages do you like about it? Because all your guys can run a little bit. Yeah, I think it running quarterbacks causes problems for events. So when plays break down, the unscheduled plays, if you just go back to the recent Super Bowl,

on that last hard to too big place from a home's run, potential home's another runner. And he's not calling the design a quarterback runs for a path. But when the defense matches up in place two men in terms of the backs of the quarterback, well, maybe the best decision is to take off. The second one is a non-many-name score. A lot of guys don't want their own hooks on it. And there's time to react, I'm just trying to get you a run of the quarterback. When we talk about the best ability, the best ability is available. You're not letting your shoulder take people wrong. We are always looking for quarterbacks that have the ability to run. We're not looking for running backs at that chance of a problem. So you're not going to see us 20 times a game, we're running the quarterback. There are people that run offensive titles that are really successful with it. But with this group we have, or not, that's not. Now they can't hurt you with the feet. They looked at it when he was at K-State. You know, obviously they went to a couple of times today. They're going to take off a couple of times today. Linking is a really, really good athlete. Julian can run, but you know, we're not calling the design quarterback runs. You know, you're not going to see, you know, I think tremendous amount of respect for coaches

and the ladies seem to be luck here. The strength T as far as we go, we are not going single way. So we are not going to stop it and run the quarterback nice, some quarterback hours. But it is a, it's another weapon. It also keeps defensive offense. You know, three defensive offense and a continuative man in the quarterback closing the games on the edge and he's being the first down. Well then the defensive offense is now suddenly keeping the court people going to the ball up and he ended up a lot of, sometimes in order to give our quarterback really a lot of huge responsible for a defender to defend it was cheating and defeating you know, the run. And then his responsibility is to make the defense be honest. And that's really erred to that a couple of times today. And we had a block that the safety was taken in space in there. So we're going to take that one round the edge. What happens in the next five defense? Why? We're going to get through it and it will just end up off the run. Coach, thank you so much for your time and thanks for being a buck out. All right, thanks. Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, too. So maybe 42, whatever against Youngstown State, I'd be so upset coming out of the game. But seeing how violent this game is from this perspective, now you have to say, hey,

okay, not only within games can we keep guys fresh, right? But can we do that so that when you get to the last few games in a season that act that are the big ones, right, the ones that you're judged off of when you get to the game, are we healthier? And I think that's it's kind of a both a both-and, right? So I'm still confident with five guys and that's going to be a week to week. You know what I mean? Like these guys know, I think honestly who start to be week to week? If you display during the week of practice that you're locked in and somebody else has a bad mental week, well, I can't reward you with starting if you have six mental errors during the week, you know what I mean? Just because you started last week. So I think it's got to be that iron sharp inside and constant competition through the whole fall. That doesn't sound like something to do with an honest little joke, but it is that part of which one has to drive you then? Was it driving you then? You just assumed that was kind of the case when you played anyway. I always felt when I was here that they were trying to out-recute me, which is the reality, right? Yeah. Which is why it prepares you so well for the National Football League.

That's why Ohio State prepares you so well for the League because now it's like they're trying to out-draft you. And so I use that as fuel, but I also thought firsthand, you know, like there was a season where it was John Kerr, Marcus Freeman, certain guys rotating week to week. And so I thought like, should it happen to them that can happen to me? So I just tried to be a certain way in practice. Like, I tell the guys all the time, you have to control the things that take no talent. You have to eliminate all loves like if you if you love on the field, you're a traitor, like you should just go play for their team. Like, that can't you can't be coaching effort. And then you can't have mental errors because if you have a mental error, then you can't trust you. So those are the two things I always have the player was like, all right, you're not going to catch me, loping, and you're definitely not going to catch me, not knowing what I'm supposed to do. I might get beat, and that's inevitable. It's football, everyone got scholarship, right? But those two things you control, everything within. What's the next step in the sun? I think it's just the end, you know, we haven't we haven't done like any of my series.

You know, we know you can tackle and all that, but I think it's just the repetitive grind of a football game from in the box, the constant. And he's been he's been willing so far, you know what I mean as far as his hand placement has been good. Even more on the strike, he's tough. So it's just continuing to have him challenged to there's plays right now where he's seeing it from the first time from the will backer. So the next time he sees it, maybe throw catch tackle is at the intersection. You know what I mean, because he's seen it from that perspective. Everything he's seen before this has been from top down off the shelf, right? So now it's dropping back, that'll drive him. So he's made great progress and I'm really happy with how son he's done. James, look at that recruiting. It seems like it's going really well for you. Obviously you can't talk about specific recruits, but just overall how do you feel like that's going and are you enjoying your food? I am, I am enjoying it. I think it's it's fun to build relationships and get to know so many different types of kids, you know. Ohio State presents opportunity, right? And so many different ways.

You're not going to get developed better anywhere else in the country. You have the largest fan base, largest alumni, it measures opportunity everywhere, right? So you try to just explore like explain your passion for the school that did so much for you, you know, especially being an out of state kid, not being formal. And then realizing how much Ohio State changed my life. And so now you communicate that to other young kids who kind of see it and try to tell them the vision like where you can get to. I think the fun thing for me is that most of the kids I'm recruiting are way more athletic than I ever was. So it's like I tell them if I can the only way I survived in the NFL eight years was the fact that I had football intelligence, like I knew where I was going. You know what I mean? I knew where I was fitting. And so now if I can impart that information on kids who are extremely athletic, well now you're now you got something special. How much of you guys have already talked about long season and the need to play more guys?

Well, I think yeah, you're going to have to have depth. That's just a reality, right? It's a longer season. There's more game and there's no excuse that a place like here. If you're all on playing with a maybe a guy who was third or fourth, that doesn't matter. You know, like you got to be ready to go. So I think depth is crucial at all of the vision. Because injuries are going to happen there's part of football, you know, you never want to wish it upon anyone and you're certainly not. But it's just you can't be naive to think that you're just going to have every single starter healthy for the whole season. You talked about your mentality as a player and then you're recruiting different players than you were. How do you how do you marry that when they made that same mentality that you need is what you want them to have? Well, you figure that out when you get to know them and there are certainly some kids that you start to recruit to where you see like, you know what Ohio State might be too big. It might be too big for them. You know what I mean? And so it's not for everybody. You have to want to come in and compete against the best and realize that you have to win every single game and be the best in the world of what you do.

And that's the expectations that Ohio State and that's certainly not for everyone and that's okay. But you have to through the process kind of find out who has that mentality who really craves football. You know, like who craves football versus a lot of the other fluff that kind of comes with it who craves ball because when they crave football, then the other stuff will take care of itself. Right. And we'll just keep getting better and better and better if they want to be the best. Two more questions for Dave. Yeah, that's I mean, I think that's your job as recruiters. You got to figure out what's the mindset of the kid and are they are they serious about football and you have to talk to the people that are around them and you got to figure out talking coaches. You just got to try to figure out like who loves ball and the NFL they do the same thing right now they're attending the massive about the money and they're saying, okay, we're going to get this person money as a change their motivation or they still love ball. So now it means in college is the same thing like who actually wants to be the best or who just likes the attention that comes with playing football. James, I've already talked about it but you tell a little bit of the elevation from our bell from end of the class and obviously missed the time last year with the injury.

But where he's at now versus the expectation that you had to move this way. Our belts, I mean, showing a lot of progress, you know, most importantly, you know, mentally with the playbook and everything. I think our bell. Last year there was a couple things right because of injuries on the D line and camp. You know, he moved to end for a little bit and then we brought him off the ball and then he had an injury and he kind of missed some time. He wasn't an early mid year, you know, so he comes in right in the summer and so he missed some reps there. So the see where he's at right now is extremely impressive. And for a guy of that size and that much power and his ability to run, he's a special athlete. And so our bell is at a good spring. You've got to continue to dive into the playbook and got to continue to learn all the little things. And as you go, right, like week one, week two, you start seeing new schemes, new schemes, things build and it becomes kind of a lot. He's just got to continue to comb through it all because athletically, you know, he's one of the most gifted guys that we have in the room. I know. And I was probably making sure his foot was on the deck.

What has changed the time that you've been recruited to now that you're listening and like, are there other mental differences you've noticed in your own video? No, I think it still comes down for the most part. Like, NIL is certainly an aspect for some. For some, it could be the most important thing. It's always a factor. But I think you still just need to find out who are the kids that love football and they want to be developed. And it's about the relationship to an extent. Like, a relationship gets you to the final stretch. For some kids, I don't know. I might be the thing that pushes them over the top. I mean, I don't know. Like, every kid is so different, right? I try to view it as you're just building relationships. And are you going to get a young man to trust you to develop them? And to not only the player that they want to be, but the person that they want to be in the future. And can you convince mom and dad that you're the right person to do that, you know what I mean? So I think one of the things that is helpful is my playing experience. I think, you know, when you've played and you've done it and the drills that you're doing, you know that they work.

You're not going to waste your time on stuff that doesn't work. And then the fact that, you know, I am blessed to be at my alma mater. You know, if there's no sense of time to leave here, you know, and then you have the question, I get a ton. And what do you see yourself in five years? I'm like, where I'm sitting? My alma mater, you know, my kids love it in Columbus, obviously. I love Ohio State. So I think those are things that can kind of be in advantage. Okay, but I've even worked with you know, kick off and put teams as well. You put down this life for you in terms of getting involved with that thing. Yeah, it's awesome. Maybe I love it because it gives you an opportunity to coach the whole team. You know what I mean? Like special teams in a spot where the whole team probably minus the quarterbacks, right? And then there is all in one team room and one meeting room. So you get to actually directly impact other positions and just your own. And I think it also gives, it gives a little bit of urgency to your own room. Like when you're in there every single time, you better be making an impact on punts if you're aligned back to you. Better be making an impact on kick return or on kick off kick off return.

Punt return all those things. You better be making an impact, right? Because your coach is in there all the time. It's been nice and there's a lot of stuff that I think our coaches have done to kind of push that sense of team when you're in special teams that we every position matters. Seriously, someone has been a VNFL. What do you think would be an NFL doing to kick off now? And even if it could be good for college? I mean, the thing that stands to the takes away like the surprise on side, you know what I mean? But all these rules are changing so much for the safety of the game. And I mean, I think it's only a matter of time before it trickles down. It seems like everything's trickles down. So we'll see. As of right now, we'll keep things going the way they are. All right, James. Thank you. Yep. Thanks, guys. Thank you. Every day. So. Oh, I mean, we had this finisher at the end of practice where

I had to make five in a row and going all the way back to 50. It was actually the people who kept to end it. And yeah, I just had to make five in a row where we were running. And so we got it. We ran. But we learned one so I did one time. Yeah. I was keeping the short track. I'm taking it from Michigan. That way. Do you work all the time? Yeah, I feel a little bit. You know, you always want to perform in those kind of moments. And I feel like I got the team down. But at the same time, I knew that those guys had confidence in me. And I actually talked with my teammates, Jack and GTE and those kind of guys really got around me. It really helped me. But as a kicker, you kind of just got to wipe it clean and go to the next play. But yeah, you definitely want to make those kicks. Is that something that you had to process? Like a week's after or is it just something that you got over? It's something you have to get over in mid game as a kicker. You can't let their last kick affect you. So just trying to get through it and get through the game.

And I knew I could have made that kick. I mean, it's it's yeah, it's just one of those ones that got away from you. But you always look forward to the next one. And you always have to correct your mind and get ready for that. I probably say the same as last year. I feel just as confident as I did last year, even though I didn't get too many attempts from deep to show that. But still feel just as confident as I was. 55, 60. Yeah, right around there, right in there. Yeah. That's every kicker's truly. That's every kicker's dream. I mean, you saw the guy from FSU a couple of weeks ago. That's my buddy, Ryan Fitzgerald. Really, really great kicker. But everybody wants that opportunity to show everybody what you can do. What do you do as a kicker? Did you make your year to year? Trying to become more consistent always. You can always become more consistent. You're going to miss every once in a while. But just trying to limit the mistakes and the misses that you do have to so that you can become as perfect as possible.

I guess this is the way I would put it. I mean, the standard is the standard here. And even we didn't live up to it last year. So you got to correct it and get better. It's a lot of things. It's a ball contact. It's confidence in your teammates. It's trusting that the ball is going to be there when it's there. It's getting more down the field on your follow through. It's not falling through straighter. Yeah, but sometimes I really work on a fall and through straighter this past our season. So a lot of my balls are going left towards the end of the year. So I had to correct that. And some of you can't really correct mid season. You want to mess with it. But yeah, I corrected that this season. Coach, as Coach Dave said, he's one of the things that you have to know, especially since now. And he's been to Utah. And he's been to Utah. And he's been to Utah. I have. And I really like it. I like Coach Dave, and around the specialist and all the special teams. And it's just for us more involved. And it feels of the higher end court. And since here, I think you guys saw that in the first game.

He's done a great job. Him and coach keys and Gunner Danes. They've done a really good job. So yeah, I feel I feel it. It's good. Why do you specifically feel now? Like, where does that show up? Do you think what you have to show? And the higher end court. I think the fact that he's paying more attention to special teams. He's seeing the good things that we do. And so he has more confidence in us to put us out there and give guys like Joe a chance. And he pays more attention to things like that. So it's better for us so that we can thrive in those situations that we didn't thrive in last year. And he has the ability to put us out there because his call is a final call. So yeah. Which Joe, your folder, or your ball camp, or his guys? The guys in the starting point, or is also the starting point? Me and Joe got a lot of work over the off season to get him there. And it's not always who the starting point is. It's just that he's the best at holding. So we got the job. What have you done here for John? Second year and then competing here. Exactly. I just see better than the one last year.

I mean, me and John are like I said, me and John and Joe are like three best friends off the field. So we work a lot on stuff on the field and nobody's around. And so yeah, we've definitely built a good camaraderie between the guys. Yeah, I love John. Great guy. How does it make a difference for you guys when you stay and you have a position called, do you know what it's really about? It just makes you feel like he has more confidence in you than he's putting you out there because he's watched it a lot more. I know for sure, the kickoff reps, he watches kickoff coverage all the time. He loves to see the guys running down the field. And we actually made that a really big point of emphasis this past game to run through the goal lines. I joined my teammates running through the goal line. It was pretty fun. I'm not sure to help you guys, but now there's only their coaches in Rob and Gunner from the other side. I mean, Gunner was out there last year, but he couldn't give us coaching, critiquing on the field. But at halftime, he would talk to us and Gunner played at BC. He was a long snapper. So he provides really good insight into kind of like a,

I would compare him to like Brad Robinson, my freshman year, gives you good insight. It's kind of like a veteran guy. So like when things aren't going your way on the field or you're not playing up to the level that you want to, he's kind of there to calm you down and tell you like, hey, like I've been there before, like the veteran guy even though he's a coach now. So yeah, it's very nice. What is last question you guys? Rob brings a lot. Man, he's, he's one of them coach. He brings a lot of pressure to it. He makes you feel that every kick really matters. He's really good. But he, he definitely helps with the coverages. The covers has been much better this season than they haven't had the cover yet. But you can just tell from the guys running down. They're a lot more passionate about it. There's bigger emphasis on it. Thank you, Jay. Thank you. Thanks, guys. Thank you. It was just the first two weeks this season. Yeah, like I just said that it probably was the best way to play.

I didn't take back from my want to be out there in the game. But you know, guy stepped up. It's committed of excellence. Guy's executed. And so now I'm just grateful to be back and doing what I can. It's just a frustrated player and a coach who knows what's best for him. Now I thought I was good to go and a lot of people told me I wasn't. I was like, what do you mean I'm fine? And then coach, they're talking off the cliff a little bit. But it's just trying to protect me for myself. You know, I've blessed with opportunity to play a lot of ball this year. And so it was just like, look man, let's calm down for these weeks. And we'll get your back out for the buy. But I wasn't the most happy camper in the world for a good minute there. But it is what is reprintable. How special was it playing back like this? It was amazing. As a senior, I know I only have a limited amount of opportunities left to play in the horseshoe.

So just running out of the tunnel, you know, I've never, never said I'd take the game for granted. But knowing that I like the number of times I have to do that's wailing down, kind of waiting to wait on me. Those first few games. And so just playing the game to the highest level as fast as I can. And just taking it all in in the moment. And then we'll be back in a little bit more. Jackson, what's the point of going to the top of the mountain? Some more entries. That way in your mind, the feeling within an audience is, yeah. People should really come back. Maybe it didn't matter. I mean, when it happened, I'd be lying if I said, I mean, I wasn't going to take the route. Heated off these races. But like, I was like, oh my gosh, what happened now? And it was kind of a moment of like, okay, like how long is it going to take? And then everyone's like, it's an arm-string, dude. Like, we don't know. Everyone's body heals differently. And so just trying to, you know, put good things in my body.

So I heal as fast as I can and trying to get, like, I put rest doing everything the train has done me to, doing everything. Coach Ryan, Coach Dave told me to do to try to heal as fast as I can and we're about on the field. There are moments of uncertainty. You definitely remember that, but everyone's feeling differently. No, no. What are you talking about? What are you feeling now? But I think the decision to come back is you're going to come back and we're already in the first few days. And then we have to do what that is going to work for you. Yeah, no, there are definitely moments of frustration. I'm not going to lie about that. But our training staff of, you know, Stu, Solo, Sean, Tyler, Karla Kelly, always gave one there. They told me to trust the plan. They said that they've seen this type of thing happen numerous times. And they know that it's going to take a lot. But you're going to go into the top of the field. And so it's, you know, think of it now. It's kind of funny. But in the moment, I was like, don't tell me that. But it's, you know, it is what it is.

Coach, what do you think of? Awesome. I think it played great. You know, it's a competitive excellence that we talked about here, you know, making plan, you know, was called and Austin, some of us called and he didn't look fantastic. You know, it's always great seeing young guys as assembled, saying that. But Austin going out there and doing this thing, you know, we all know we could do it. There was not a doubt in my mind. He was going to go out there and show us the other. But it was great seeing 67. So we got a new way to be in his ear, you know, leading up to those games. I don't know if it mean, you know, giving tips, whatever you want. Yeah, I know I would, you know, make my voice known here and there. But he's already on his stuff. You know, I do like little new on things. I mean, like, like if he does this, he might do this because learning from my mistakes. I was like, he can do this so you don't make the same mistake I do. But Austin's a fantastic athlete, you know, he's strong as not. And so he did fantastic doing what he does. Well, the team that you hit as much time between, you know,

was ever in your little malady and coming back because time heals all. I mean, it was it was that thinking without hard to grasp it. Sitting out with the maybe tough and the long run, the right thing. Yeah, those those are difficult concepts from the grass from the start of the kid. You know, my mom, but, you know, patients, patients hasn't always been my thing. So when it happened, I was like, I'll be back in two weeks. And in two weeks, Canada, I was like, it's the hurt. But it was just, you know, trust in the process, knowing that the our, our training staff knows what they're doing. And they knew that I'm not going to feel it. And so now that I'm on the field, just keep on going. Yeah, 100% less. We feel happy. Feel happy. So great. What do you guys have a lot of experience on this line when you add a dialect set with that level experience? How much does that help in that center position when we have so much? Yeah, you know, I'm very, very set. You know, Seth is, I would say that the tip of the spear of our offense, I would say, they'll be like, if teams play us, they're not going to come out and exactly what we think they're going to do.

Because that's just, you know, game plan. But set, set communicates throughout the entire almost down to the snap count of what we have to do to make sure all guys on the same page. Every time we're, well, in this cadence, and he like yells at me like, hey, we're going over here. And so I know that just follow what he says and then we're going to make a good play out of it. What do you make of rotation and paper? And your experience? Garth? How does, what are the pros and cons? Maybe you rotate the nationality? Well, it's a great coach for our question. We don't get it. I just play a left guard. I know that I know that both guys are very talented. I know that when they're in the game, they're trying to prove themselves. And so just having to compete, I can guys get an after it. And as long as we move the ball and get to the end zone, I don't think anyone cares who plays who doesn't. None of the thank you. Thanks, all right. We definitely want to be more disruptive and get more sacks.

But, you know, if anyone's going to get to Ohio State, they get the ball out fast. They're not going to let us rush them because they know what was going to happen. So, it seems just smart. They know not to hold the ball. You know, they quick screens, quick passes. But if they hold the ball, it will be a completely different story. Yeah, it's frustrating, but you know, it is what it is. We cut out half their game playing just by being explosive. Like, explosive. What light is coming on for Ty Hamilton in the last couple of years? You know, you've been around him and stuff. What's different about him is approach, etc. I say Ty is definitely more of a leader now. He leads the whole D-line, the whole interior. He's that head guy you go to if you need advice for anything. He leads as a great example for the young guys. Yeah, he's almost like his silent partner a little bit, you know, but he's the last year especially. He seems to be in the right place at the right time along, right? That's not a trick. I mean, what do you call it?

A maturity? I mean, why would you call him? I'll say it's just his dedication to the game. He takes things serious, the way he's room, you know, his diet, his everything. He's top of the notch on recovery. Yeah, everything you need is a player. And then for you, what's different about you three years ago? I mean, right now, as you get raised in the season, obviously you want to stay healthy. He thinks he thinks like dabble. Where are you better as a player? I think I'm better everywhere. I'm not trying to be like a big headed, but I think I've taken a big step since last year. And, you know, I think the whole D-line has it and I'm just ready to show it next Saturday. Yeah, and how will that show up in this D-line? Because it's veterans across the board. Where are you all going to be known for? I think we're going to be the most disruptive group in the nation. And, yeah. I think what Jay has talked about is how consistent that belongs to us. Is your own? What do you see in your battles with Steph? I said, definitely knows what he's doing. He has a high IQ, you know, strong.

Like, he's not like a pushover or nothing like that. He's a great player and glad we got him. How do you kind of see him lead that line? Is it better to come down? I mean, I say he knows what's going on. He tells other people what's going on. If you don't know the play, ask him. He's kind of that guy. Like, he knows everything. He studies with a lot. Strong, fast. I guess he likes it. I don't want to see what's the very big thing about it. It's a big deal. But, you know, it's good work. I think of the day I'm glad. Glad he's that guard. I think it's a better position for him. And he'll be a great guard in the future. Thank you. Great job. Last spring, I think it was we called the Drafts to the Mid-Sense. He bought the Mitchell belt and he has the Mid-Squeen. He calls for a free style. How would you describe it with a victory? Mitch is playing basketball on grass, with Coach J. Colby. He has a unique style that cannot be reciprocated within anyone. He's a different athlete when it comes to things like this.

Thank you. Hey, Mr. He's one through that. Mr. Mr. Me too. Me too. I'm a good softer ECM who can play more где lusciously. Oh Right from the right one so just back to back here. It's basically all takes Oh, yeah, it's easy really I mean you were identified

Yeah, I definitely saw some likeness to my ability to I definitely was excited to get inside position and do what I could do best In spite of the best of my ability, but of course those things change you never know it's expected to do a house How will they feel like that Saturday during the spring in situation? Yeah, I think for the majority of the spring I've been feeling more confident myself in my videos Even with everything that's happening in the past I don't think I have A lot to give and lots of these programs. I think that kind of showed how Saturday where I just Let loose a little bit in spite to listen to Yeah, I think it definitely takes a second to just like trust myself It's Didn't help me out in the best way obviously Yeah, I mean, it's just like it is very mental

Just like every day just like counteracting the fear or like doubt I think my mentality right now You Yeah, I do feel home I think this past two years It's definitely been learning her but I think now more than ever. I'm definitely Constable and I'm not mad what I need to do. I'm like my skill set. I mean something About what is like what it looks like for me to be the best possible version of myself Yeah I think the biggest thing in our group is leadership a lot of guys like you said in our room Battle test, it's not a speech. I think Especially come up in this ring and so it's always like need to be the anchor as defensive unit and need to show up every day

I Especially with this new season I'd expect that You don't know until I have something so I'm just Yes, I see what's the life of season Yeah, it's like a little brother big brother to do you know a lot of the guys who've been there I just want to help out and bring along the younger guys It's definitely a process in times, but I think the love we share in that room is very very strong And with that I think it helps us get to anything any challenges You In here It's It's a blessing because you know a lot of guys in my position Not the same injuries. It's not okay back

I'm just thankful that I'm here in the best university in the world and the best training staff and they got me to this point where I can Be back to be back to healthy maybe better the healthy because I feel like I've better than what I was It's Humbling I think I just I remember coming on how to say there's nothing but a dream you know I have dreams of being the best version myself doing all the things you know Accolades but then you know things It took me by surprise of course, but I think I also gave me a lesson that I really needed I'm a little needed to like grow until a bit of version of something I think the journey was needed and it was a bus I Can't do that man. I love the sport too much to do that. You know, and I love the guys around me I think that's the biggest thing that brought me back. It's just like I can't do it to them And you know, I just I know we have what we can be on the field so I'm gonna do everything I can I'm just gonna go day by day is hard That's what I find myself is always like going to the future and think what I'm gonna do this thing

Our next day next day next day, but it's just like it's overwhelming And it's like gave me stress. I think for me it's just Doing whatever I need to do whatever skilling the sharpness Last season I think I was kind of hard to like trust it last season, but I still think my body is that I'm I Think what tie league and you don't appreciate what tie league and tie did last season in the middle And go back on my knee and take those guys a great job of managing So what you want to get out that you want to get past

So that's the thing Yeah, we're not chasing sex which is chase opportunity double personal But I think the most important thing the contents of our defense Is when you dance I'll change this effect You're never satisfied you never get set aside You're at the team I think our guys have done great job this spring and then stand in this fall stand exactly

But it really didn't We're all like these guys right We can get going And what is the challenge I think the joy is the fact that those guys are older guys now have some Year ago we didn't have that they have a guy to set the bar now no jacks and teens Redded in a great job Now the kids stick Playing hard Already

Well, we do ball, you know, he's got a mat for it, but we do train that and we call it mat to the hand. We do drills every Tuesday, take a break to the last quarter of our dream of some plants. But he's got a good sense of high hand coordinates, form of the ball is going out, and sometimes this is best done. To me, those are sites, we need to fight to ball and turn into them, and the sense of spring of pool. But yeah, that's something we train. And he's got a great, great field. We keep challenging time. He's not seasoning, it's hard. He's got a very fast movement. He's got some good stuff to do. You know what? After I said that, Tyler, you got to sleep. Yeah. We do it really well. Yeah. We challenge them all. It was just not one guy. You know, we don't train just one guy to train all four, or 16, the same concept. So I think everyone has some good passwords. We don't take time to the science. We're just going to be part of our unit, what we're going to do. And I think he's proved me to do it. Strong is powerful. He just comes into his two blocks, what makes him more effective, I say, thanks for that. It's a tough position to wrestle past, but for a nose guard, he's going to get slide and get double lots. So he gets lost in this, the wrestling pass. Do you leave a one on one? He's got a chance to change things.

Yeah. He's got to be engaging in kind of helping each other. And I'd ask him to really help you send a push each other to get a sauce. It's been fun to watch both of us practice in the fight. Big plan of real high level right now. I think again, Katie and Katie have both different players, but they play in the fight. And Katie runs for the style of the style that Katie is right behind. So I think they got a bond that they're really built together as two players going through the same thing. Now they have a chance to really make an impact. Do they look nice more than other players? Yeah, I think they're ones. I don't tell those guys they're two. They're ones. They got to be a lot more specific to each other. And Mitch is the same boat. We have five men, I think, really. The war, you know, is not worth it. You should trust him. You mentioned Mitchel's weight gain. Like is there a difference now, the meaning last year, or is it been being that both legs defense of them, when you want the guy to turn the line back? Oh, no doubt about it. You could only actually throw your pile in the shirt. It's 2.60, and then you can play it Monday.

And he's really, he's going to play in a six-tec thing, play on top of the tie-down. He's got to be able to do that. That's the thing I think is the improvement, most of all. And that's when it's difficult. And he feels really confident, where exactly are you at? He's a bond, he's not a great guy. He can speak about that. Where are you? The second one you're like bestie for. What do you think was the last one? Oh, no doubt. You know, Russian and college work together. And you've got a great secondary play man. You get him a whole ball a little bit. I'm certain that this will hire you to come back and you guys in the back, you know, some great jobs. Does that change any of your messaging or coaching points in camp? Or is that more of a, are we creating any preparation type of thing? No, it's every day. You know, every day process. We've got to rush and pass the way. Other than that, which I'm really well. But getting there is really key. And can we defect and change the trouble, make it a subject in the back? I think that's important. We try not to look behind us. Maybe we try to make sure our eyes are focused on what we can do in the front. We never turn around. It's all a call of all. That's all that's not. That's all that's not. That's what you're going to do. I'm looking for a first quote.

I actually just am spraying a little bit of a different way. What is it about the Hamilton brothers that they come on as they're the longer they stay in college? What did you put together that's common between the two? Not the difference. It's a process, right? Everybody goes through a process. And I think the Ron N. Tye is going to kind of different, what's saying? They're going to be both great students. They understand the importance of their own decision. And I think Tye came back because he realized that I guess something has been missing. It's remarkable that he's still in there. It's a great time. What is the much-ream happening between the deep bits of tackles and plain blocks like poly, the tile or the TNT part of the floor? Whatever they're going about today. What is the luxury of that boy being? You understand what I'm saying? You get hit every day. That's right. It makes us better. You could stop them up and inside out, maybe have a chance to get a special. Indeed, so those guys don't great job. They have hats, hands, and a physicality, and all that. And that makes it different. It makes our heads much easier.

And you have the guy you can imagine that. You said? TNT. I'm not so in TNT yet. I still like the rushments. With Jesse named a captain, how have you been doing? Yeah, he's doing it. He's been a conologist. He's been a Tucker. I can say a lot of ways. He's focused. He's really liking what he wants. And he wants me to be a great guy. And every day, he's some feel that's what he's been practicing. To be a captain, he'll be able to go out in a special. And how does it work to be a part of the mommy who's ready to get in? Yeah, that was pretty sweet. I don't know how it was. I was going to chance to talk to him and show him that a lot of people understand how important it is when he happens. They both cry. The ad is just a little unbelievable. They're real great. And to thank them, they're really great. But yeah, what a great, what a good hour. Real land is the last question. I heard in the Charles Paswell's style, the sky-based, and the E.K.A. How would you... What do you call it? The plan, basketball and grass. I mean, that's what he has. He has a cross over the moon, basketball. I don't know what you're saying.

So you can pretty simply just say this moon was heading the way. It's a great time. So as you need, these facets come in. It's a big importance. I think you guys are proud of the work you're doing. You're developing that type of question in the box. How much freedom is a guy with a human health care? The freelance taking the hell in that, and then it's happening to someone. Well, is it his way to defense the scheme we're in? Well, I'm gonna do that in a little bit. We're going to try to let him do that too. That is really specific. I'll be for him. So we can let him go and come in. And that was a great time. To have him see the inside of it. And so we might do a little bit of that, and let this guys go. Thank you very much. Coach, thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Hello. Appreciate it. Yep. I think you know, we had our moments where You kind of got selfish of if anything about you know wanting to make a play that we kind of got out of our You know deep into live mentality and the rest of the mentality which was you know rushing for guys kind of caves the pocket and keep that quarterback in that little self But other than that, you know, I think you did a great job and I think it showed in the sense and we saw a lot of things that we pulled on the course but yeah

Yeah, I think yeah, some of it was like you know, it's kind of like my freshman year coming back We didn't really know how much I could handle I'm like how many plays I can handle out of certain amount of time So it was just like kind of trial by air just seeing what I could do in the short amount of time that I had it But I definitely think there was more trust to be had on the coach's side with me So I think that definitely came into this spring into this fall camp, you know Rep doing all the plays and rep doing a lot of repetition goes plays getting you know really Talk about Yeah, I'm a trainer as much as I can I've been in there. I believe I leave the facility with like five different body parts I start but um Yeah, I think the biggest thing is just saying consistent That's probably my biggest challenge going into this fall camp was I'd have moments like that where you said

I'm flashing but it's like where I Stank insisted in every single play and doing my job every single play is my biggest thing Trying to continue to work Yeah I personally think we're one of the best team or best groups in the country Um, so I think it's great to have so many guys because you know, it's gonna be a very long season And we're gonna need a lot of rotation so I guess Even when Jack and Jay-Z come out of the game that standards slice the up out So that's really what me came in and our kids are fine to do every day He's going great um I'd say he's very he's be cute. I feel like he's found himself in a humble kind of space You know, I'm saying where he's kind of took a step back and just like put his head down and worked Nothing has the same to be said for a lot of the freshman here That's really cool to see him motivating see from the guy like that. We think this deep fits We'll be known for in October and November

I know to mean it's just kind of hard to frame because I'm not there yet, you know But I just hope that we're known for doing our job and playing at a Violently high level each and every step Going as hard as you can each and every step and that's what we are And I think we can hang our hat on there for sure How much more do you think everything? Oh gosh man, who you telling now um, it's definitely like those injuries like I said It's probably one of the more humbling experiences of my life and it kept me grounded You know, I really realized like This is not something that is going to be here forever and I'm not going to be playing the sport forever So I just really got to be blessed and thankful that I'm even in this position right now coming back from those injuries And saw the opportunity to play at a high level, which I am so I think I've definitely found myself really trying to stay in the present as much as I can because It's not always guaranteed, but I'm going to be able to do what I can do Yeah Uh, it was definitely hard

I definitely had to lean on some of my uh loved ones my family members, my parents just to like Really understand that this is what I wanted to do and of course it is now um But yeah, it took a second to really just like I had to understand what it really took to get my body right How to recover right has you know, rest right do everything I can to that I can stay healthy for long season Thank you. I want to get tightly Yeah Well, what is that that's still you to you and then Going forward like how do you instill like this is how you want to be for change? You know, because you watch everybody who had already been at the point Yeah, I think um It turns into motivation if anything um knowing that A lot of the guys I think before is got to that point and succeeded and stayed there So that level excellence has to be like Smooted fight in each rep that we do and I think that Uh, the leaders of this team have really tried to hone on that every rep and every practice We're trying to like understand why we're doing it and what we're doing in force

I think keeping that on the forefront of our minds and every day and every practice is the biggest part getting back I mean, yeah, we understand what's happening these past couple of years and all the things that we haven't done So I think this year is definitely like kind of a redemption here in that right Understanding that you know, we follow in short and we haven't met our expectations and you know It takes a lot to get there. We understand that and it takes more than what we've done So I think finally, you know, taking that next step and doing everything we can intentionally be the biggest thing What do you think? Thanks guys He brings us Saturday and you know, he's putting a lot of hard work You know super team first guy and an excellent plan from a lot of things So I'm really excited for him the other thing was Saturday

Yeah, finish last season the way you're here Yeah, I think it gives me a lot of confidence. I think for a lot of guys that we start playing you know, festival especially on the defensive side of the ball That's second half of season and so we're just all excited like I said, you know You know just chomping up the bed to get the Saturday You know, we can't wait to put the pads on being in the shoe with the you know, 100 plus thousand fans and you know put on a good performance You know Yeah, um, you know, we talked a lot about shutouts and I'm not gonna say that you know That's an expectation, but you know, we think that our defense is good enough to go out there You know and win the game for us, you know There's none wrong with saying that because that's why we all came back to be the best evens of the country And I think that you know the expectations got your super high for us But I hope it's a high standard which we have and You know, I'm just really excited to see you know It all come together in a game format against somebody else other than our offense Yeah, and that pissed us off too they get them three points up

But uh, you know, we're really excited for opportunity to know hopefully get one of those this year Jake T Hope you see growing just in the last several months. What do you see about him from the zirah standpoint? You know, I was asking them that he's kind of a boss. We asked me out and have a Penn State game Ever would yeah, I say so the words in prime. I mean, we're surprised Definitely, I guess going into this season. Yeah, I mean, he's just you know, Jay T's just you know, he's taking that next step He's super focused in, you know, this whole this whole offseason We've been really downed in and trying to pinpoint stuff that we can get better at you know And specifically attacking it and and really trying to you know, focus and get better on those things I think that he has he looks great, you know, this whole fall camp and leading up to this game So far this game prep week. So he's definitely taking you know huge strides and you know I think a lot of people would give him unfair criticism too because they do all expect to have a Penn State game every game Which is yeah, I just want the best season of games. I was ever played So it's unfair to say that but he's been consistently one of the best If it's a man to call football if you turn on the tape

So I'm really excited to get out there with him this year and you know, we're going to have it up by the end You know, you move the expectations for both you guys. Yeah, I came in Yeah This is the year comes to fruition from the standpoint of dominance. I don't know Yeah, I mean no, that's that's something we talked about I think that's something all four of us and you know really eight of us On the D line talk about is you know being dominant You know, there's no ceiling to how good we can be this year and we know that it's all about us going out there and doing it You know, we can talk about it all day, but until we got there and do it, you know, it doesn't mean a damn thing So you know, we're all excited to get out there man. We're hungry and You know, I've seen this a little different level of determination, you know, to chase greatness. I've seen so not been here So, you know, like I said, we're just you know, we just can't wait for Saturday Yeah You know, I think the challenges that uh, you know, we're playing an opponent's coming into our house in the shoe this week

We only get eight shots left in the shoe and we got to make everyone of them count and Akmer to go football team You know Good good head coach. I believe he was the offensive coordinator for Oregon when they beat us here my freshman year Uh, you know, so they're gonna be well coach. You're gonna run their offense well, you know, play good defense. So Uh, to us, you know, in coach daily says never about our opponents always about us You know, if we're actually you know the high level of playing fast and physical then you know things will take care of itself So we got good opponent Akron and you know, we're excited to play in the Saturday You guys Yeah, I know I think that uh I think that uh, you know, huge emphasis this fall camp and lead up to this season is to you know

Kind of let us play more downhill more free with less thinking so I think that's been great Honestly the last few weeks and um, you know in the camp as well And so you know, I think that we are gonna you guys gonna see a more downhill team and Uh, you know more of us coming off the edge or if you're happy with you guys all want to see so I think that you know, we're really excited to go out there and you know and and and Roll it out there in place. So, you know, we're really excited for that You've seen science either yet that you walked in on that play now. I haven't watched it yet. I got no comment on that Where do you feel like you've grown the most personally from where you are in here? Um, I think that this offseason was big for me and and you know, give my body right um, I think that You know, I don't really like to talk about myself But I think that I'm a little more exposed than I was maybe in years past and uh Yeah, I'm just really excited um for the work that we put in I think all of us have grown with so many different areas with our hands and hips across the defensive line. So Um, you know, like I said just just super excited What do you do more than your body? I just want to get a little more leaner uh, you know, really work on that and

And I just work on my technique, you know, my stance might get off and stuff like that of that nature For the defensive line. So I think that I have and I'm you know, I'm excited to put on put on the field center Jack, what's the big difference between the guys sitting in the chair right now Fresh face kid that came in four years They're not like on the field stuff that you learn but off the field that maybe even translated to Yeah, I think that when you come in here and you know, you're an 18 year old kid just leaving high school that There's a ton of things you can learn, you know Just as becoming a man and And on the field in the wood he is well and that's why I tell these young kids now is that you know You gotta make the main thing the main thing make people the main thing and uh, you know And everything else will take care of itself. So I think that uh You know coming in as we were all highly recruited too, you know, didn't help With our expectations and how it really how it really goes and the first get here. So I think that you know when you get you're used to starting to plan 80 staffs of games since you were five years old when you first get here and You know, you don't really see the field much as a freshman kind of it kind of takes you back a little bit

Um, but you know the growth that we've all had you know, we're all just laughing about that actually it's a great question Because me and Tyler you can JT we watch it film less from our freshman year. We're like holy shit Well, we came a long way, you know what I mean. So, uh, you know, it's been good Being able to you know grow up with those guys and you know, see the maturity level that we've all grown To from our freshman on the football field multiple will feel it's been great and uh, you know, it's it's funny It comes full circle. So it's been awesome. So it's a mom Thank you Honestly, just trust our scheme trust our defense. I like our players a lot. So uh, when we have that matchup Whoever has that match, if you just have to go in that You feel like you can help with that, you know, being a midfield That matchup Yeah, I mean, I go out there and I cover so they don't really they put them out alive He's not really in there past blocking a lot. So he's gonna be he's gonna be seen out there with the nickels of safety So there's gonna be a lot of times we're gonna have to cover him and so it's our time to cover him We should go to go through our job. Lorenzo, would you play a lot of stats especially like last weekend?

Still think like the receiver at touch? Uh, yeah, I mean, I get a feel for routes early on Um, but yeah, I think just in my training like understanding the raw combination of what they want to run on different Down in distances is uh, tell me out Or is like fitting the run depending the run against us. See what kind of stands out these running bags So they're it makes it hard to bring down. Uh, yeah, they're big backs. They're both over 220 So they're gonna run downhill. Uh, they play with good pad levels. They're gonna put their pads low So as I do like a nickel like me, I got it. Just make sure I run through their outside lane Get them down. I'll go through your mind when they're to quarterback some of the up to same time Uh, I mean nine that actually split him out a little bit. So he they actually might think I'm a little ball a little bit 15. We've got to get we have to guard them or whatever our time is we got to go executed I mean that's that's a quarterback. So we should make sure we handle that How's the Oregon game? How hungry? Definitely, uh, I don't really think it took the Oregon game to wake us up like that But uh, it was definitely I mean it was part of our part of our season

So we got to scope bounce back over us a defense as a team um keep use that to ignite a fire in us Sure One of the leaders of this special teams unit where do you feel like you guys are at right now through seven games and where do you need to be at? I mean, I think we got to continue to get better. We don't really have any Blockchette really or we don't really have any touchdown on special teams. So we got to make sure uh, we got to be game tutors in that in that space I feel like so we got to continue to improve Anything else for Enzo? Hey buddy. Thank you, Enzo You And com which we have talked to you since the Oregon game for starters. How is the hand and also did that impact Anything that you were able to do carry on the ball while you were dealing with uh, yeah I want to give a big thanks to our athletic trainers here. They helped me a lot and you know, let things you know tremendously like we're all my hand or anything like that. I still was able to play today. So big thanks to them

Uh Over to the left uh, Cameron T. Robinson the athletic Quenchant when obviously dogs launch change and change the pieces a lot right now with some injuries Is that affects how Maybe you see holes how how things go up front or in the run game once when people are changing it out I think especially when you have new guys in the rotation they have to get Used to the tempo and how things go up front especially in the game tempo compared to you know A walk through or different things like that. So having those guys mentally dialed in and getting those reps that they need I think that's the biggest part but it's it's not anything that they couldn't handle Um over to the left Katie Kapusta Spectrum one. Can you talk about how that
