Tyler Biotis just signed a three year 30 million dollar deal on the west coast
wetland over here on the east coast. Washington is just days away from targeting
its next center.

covering the Washington commanders for W USA 9 also writing for commanders on S I here with you
five days a week and coming up on the this episode starting our positional group preview series
ahead of free agency speed is the key to being fast and violent and being young requires adding
some veterans stability in the secondary but first physicality as a must and what we think
David blouse offense is going to need in the trenches making Tyler to linder bomb the exact
targets for Washington on Monday all that coming up on today's episode of locked on commanders.

noon eastern is the opening of the open negotiating period for the NFL is going to be fast.
It's going to be furious. It's not all going to be commanders but we do think there's going to be a
good amount of commanders in the conversation. The interior of the offensive line to me is the biggest
fire that Adam Peters has to put out. We talk about this all the time every day as you've heard
me say it over and over again. If you're bad in the trenches it's hard to be good and right now
the Washington commanders are bad in the trenches. Why? Because you don't have a starting center. You
don't have a starting left guard. Now potentially there is the starting center and or left guard on
the roster but you don't have them solidified at this point. Of course the wash commanders released
Tyler Beatis who darn near immediately went out and signed a three year 30 million dollar deal
with the Los Angeles Chargers. They extended Nick Allegretti for two more year or for two years.
One year he already was under contract for 2026 added 2027. So new two year contract for Nick
Allegretti. Allegretti is a three time super bowl champ was part of that 2024 run the NFC championship
game. Great culture guy locker room leader all that kind of stuff but is he a starter or is he high
end depth. That is the question that we are trying to answer. It's also the question the wash
commanders moves are going to tell us themselves. Allegretti filled in at center of the final two well
probably one and a half games early but final two games of 2025 and the coaching staff told
they loved his communication skills. We know he likes to get nasty we know he likes to get up
field but bottom line is when you look at this depth charts on paper the center position in the
left guard position with Chris Paul not retained right now absolutely stick out as position groups
of need for the wash commanders and that's kind of where we're going with this whole thing right
now this this during this series starting with this episode first starting off in the trenches at
that center slash left guard position just interior offense of line because I think that when
you look at it you can see that there are some holes to be had now as we're recording this episode
literally right before I came into the studio to record this episode we found out the White
receiver trailing Berks is being reassigned I have confirmed that news that what trailing Berks
will be back with the wash commanders we haven't updated our depth chart with that yet because like
I said it literally just happened so we'll update that conversation for the White receiver episode
uh coming up after this episode before this one you can just see center is is a need left guard
is a need because of the way the wash commanders have attacked this off season so Peters could be going
center in free agency and having aloe gradian Coleman battle it out for left guard he could be going
left guard in free agency and maybe center in the draft or mid tier free agent and have that
player and aloe gradian battle it out for center there's really a lot of different ways that Adam
Peters can go here of course center is important enough that they could also just try to go for the
haymaker and that would be Tyler Lindervom soon to be unrestricted for reagent from the Baltimore
Ravens he is the number one free agent center widely considered the best run blocking center in the
national football league and we know that David Blow and Dan Quinn they want to establish a highly
effective a highly physical rushing attack uh Peters it is known to value Adam Peters don't
manage the wash commanders if you didn't know uh kind of seems to value that Baltimore style toughness
right like doesn't fleece the Baltimore Ravens roster a lot but Lindervom is kind of the only
player on the market that really represents what I would consider a head and shoulders upgrade over
Tyler Biodes there are some other upgrades out there that we'll talk about but as far as like head
and shoulders upgrade I think Lindervom is really the only one in Indianapolis at the 2026 NFL
Scouting Combined AP told us uh that improving the trenches was a priority was his priority
emphasize the need for violent and consistency in violence and consistency in their players you
look to online coach Darnell Stapleton uses that zone blocking scheme similar to the one that
Lindervom ran uh in Baltimore of course it's also similar to the one that Todd Monke is going to run
including once it won't be surprised that they try to make a run at him either uh extending Nick
Allegretti he's a powerful player likes to get to the second level plays with that nasty it's like we
said we're leasing Tyler Biodes who kind of operates better in a phone booth and also is better at
being a finesse player just kind of shadows mirrors a guy you know keeps stays in front of them
things like that not really a put somebody on their butt type of dude Tyler uh uh Tyler Lindervom
is a put you on your butt type of guy but it's going to cost a projected 12 to 15 million dollars a
year in set in salary cap you're in salary however that's the market value the reality of the
situation is that people are expecting him to go out there and try to get really really good
markets sentence or market setting money uh the offensive lineman franchise tag number 25
million dollars in 2026 so it's safe to say Lindervom wasn't offered that amount per year from
the Baltimore Ravens but we do know that the Ravens have offered him a market setting deal I think
and this is just kind of me trying to read between the lines I think Lindervom is going for about 20
million I think that's what he's targeting uh in this now with Alan Peters wants to go more
affordable Conor McGovern 28 years old both McGovern and Allegretti have guard and center experience
McGovern doesn't lock you into one lineup you can start McGovern to center you can start Allegretti
at left guard or Brandon Coleman at left guard a draft pick at left guard whatever you want uh
same thing you can move McGovern over to left guard start Allegretti or a draft pick at center uh
you know who knows Brandon Coleman maybe takes over at center you can have a kind of an authentic
competition to figure out where your best five uh really sits having those two really three with
Andrew Wiley the Wally doesn't have that center versatility you've got dual role players that
could play in the interior part of your defensive or offensive line really is going to help you out
uh if you're the Washington commanders you go also look at Cade maze 27 year old versatile offensive
lineman uh got took over the Carolina panther starting center job last year uh I did a really
good job there who look kind of in a sending player rather than a proven one so if you want to bet
on the upside you can go there you'll get him cheaper and if you hit you're gonna get yourself a
very nice starting caliber center uh for much less money which leaves you more room for the edge
the wide receiver room all that stuff because just because I think this is the biggest priority doesn't
necessarily mean this is where Adam Peters is going to spend the most money right now the
under center conversation we know David Blatt wants to move Jayden Daniels under center more than
he has been so far in his career you need those reach block ability that something the lender bomb is
great at something that uh biotish was not so great at some of the aligretti I think is better at
the entire biotish so that's kind of like the middle ground there uh why it teller older guy three
time probable or known as a road grader he's not he's an option out there Isaac C. Umalo uh
excelled in kind of a gap power type scheme in Pittsburgh Tevin Jenkins uh has an injury history
but he was actually above white teller and Cleveland so some other names is to kind of uh look out for
now I promise you I was gonna make predictions here so that I'm giving you the ammo to throw in my face
like a banana cream pie or whatever those things are the fairs and all that stuff or to applaud me
which I don't expect you to applaud me but here's here's the prediction here's the prediction and
if you've been around the show a long time you know I don't really like to do these types of things but
let's have fun with this right let's just have fun entering the weekend uh into the new week
my prediction Adam Peters is gonna sign Conor McGovern and target interior office alignment on day two
of the NFL draft and this is a free agency primer so we're gonna kind of stay away from the draft but
a little bit of a dip into the draft there uh I think we're gonna watch the duo that unfolds is either
going to be McGovern center Coleman at left guard aligretti or the rookie at center and McGovern at left
guard whatever's going to be based on what uh Darnell Stapleton and David Blauzov's coordinator believe
is the best duo so that is our offensive line primer larmy tonsil that deals gonna get done when
he gets done Josh Conorlies right tackle Sam Cosmese your right guard moving forward now let's dive
into the defensive side of the ball starting with the defensive backs where we got a lot of young talent
I think they need to get some veterans stability that's coming up next on today's episode of

that month for free moving on with our positional group previews we're going to dive into the corner
back room now the release March on ladder more didn't just save $18.5 million by the way that
move going official on Friday so officially official March on ladder more released $18.5
million freed up in cap space it's also created a big opening at cornerback number one and I know
some of you think tray amus can be that cornerback number one I think he can be that cornerback
number one based off of just his rookie season I think saying he is a boom no doubt about a cornerback
one in the NFL I think that's putting a little bit too much expectation on him so I'm going to
resist that it's fine if you don't want to we all love tray is the point as we look at the secondary
ahead of Monday's free agency window opened up it's all about deciding I think for madam Peters
proven stability and potential right you got athletes all over the board the commander's
secondary came in second place in every single track meet they got into in 2025 let's just be real
here they won some games the team did but the secondary got beat in every single track meet
that it got into and believe it or not cutting March on ladder more from that bottom ranks 2025
secondary actually doesn't make the unit better it makes it worse but what it does do as well
is it takes the lid off the cap of the room so that growth can happen within the group from the young
guys who are already there and through free agency to make the group better eventually but just
simply getting in March on ladder more it's not addition by subtraction it's addition by subtracting
so you can add even more hopefully that analogy makes sense so coverage pass rush they're working
time right you if you have a cornerback that can't survive on the island and the pass rush doesn't
matter because they're going to we're serious and be wide open pass rush can't get home if you have
a cornerback that can't survive on the island to the pass rush never gets home the best cornerback
in the NFL is eventually going to give up a catch if the pass rush just can never get home so the
question for Adam Peters starting next week is do you spend that 18 and a half million dollars
that you just saved a March on ladder more on a lockdown veteran or do you bet on the internal
growth of rookie standouts young players and guys that you're in a draft here in in the next month
and a half in the current high upside of Mikey Sanstall and traamist to me I think he got to go
the veteran route in free agency so the premium veteran Jalen Watson soon to be former Kansas City
chief two-time Super Bowl champ set career highs in 2025 64 tackles two interceptions he's expected
to command about 17 18 million dollars annual average value in his next contract now remember
that's annual average value it's not going to be 17 18 million against the cap once the deal is
done but 17 18 million dollars annual average value essentially would become that ladder more
replacement but he's younger 27 years old and he's got a much cleaner injury history than
Martian did coming here to Washington Watson also coming from Steve Spagnolo's aggressive man
coverage system which would probably appeal to somebody like Dorontay Jones he's a physical
press man corner that I think this team could really use as they bring in the Dorontay Jones system
now you also have to wreak willing my favorite unicorn your favorite unicorn due to six foot four
and runs a four two six how you get limbs that long moving that fast is beyond me he kind of
breaks the mold on physical dimensions and related measurables coming off of the Super Bowl when
the sea hawks but he's been a very hot and cold player during his career he was demoted to the
third corner spot several times under Mike McDonald the head coach with the Seattle sea hawks he's
got 12 career interceptions 53 past deflections however the best year he had came in 2022 his rookie
season six of his 12 interceptions came in that first year alone 16 passes defense in that first
year has not hit the hit the numbers and either of those things since then but he has had more
consistency getting past the flexions passes broken up that is then interception so he's he's
getting the hands on the ball he's just not bringing them in for takeaways like he did as a rookie
the projected value for him is actually higher than Jalen Watson because you're probably betting on
the upside 19 million dollars annual average value but he's at less consistent play arguably more
upside if you believe that he still has room to grow within his skill set but obviously the consistency
is not there so if you're looking for consistency you're going to want to target Jalen Watson and
fortunately enough you might actually get him for cheaper than you do to reap well the Swiss army knife
Alante Taylor is a very unique player six one about 200 pounds he's the ultimate positionless player
when you hear Dante Jones talk about we're not a four three we're not a three four we're just
going to fill seven gaps or whatever it is in the slot he can blitz from that star roll which you
did from the Northern Saints he can also play outside he set a Saints record for sacks by a corner
back with seven of them he's had a he had a monster 2025 season 83 tackles you know the duke
and tackle and 11 passes defense does not sound like he's going to be returning to the Northern
Saints is expected to get north of 17 million dollars per year and if you sign Taylor what's
interesting about him is you can actually rotate him with Mikey say or so between the slot
and the boundary so both those guys can play both those positions they can switch they can flip
they can do all kinds of crazy stuff really makes the commander's defense impossible to read pre snap
and when an other team tries to go no huddle to try to confuse you and try to throw things at you
imagine you got a check in place you're like hey this play you ran Mikey was inside Alante was
outside you went no huddle thing you're going to catch us and then we flipped them and now you're
like hold up we without an advantage now we got to figure out what's going on out here and if
you're on YouTube you just looked at me look around my office like I'm trying to read a defense
like there's people out here my curtains are linebackers I guess you also have internal options
all right Mikey Stander still second round pick 85 tackles for interceptions 2025 playing nearly
every snap for the defense they most of us agree he's looked better outside than he has inside so
potentially you're looking for a veteran slot again Alante Taylor can play that slot position
so if you want to give Mikey an opportunity to even play a little bit outside but not all the time
outside Alante has a lot of attraction there if you sign Jaylen Watson you can keep Mikey Stander
still in the slot where I do think he would become more of a playmaker under Doron take Jones even
though I have agreed on this show where I've stated on this show and a lot of us have agreed
that we believe Mikey looks better and coverage outside I think if he's inside and a defense
of coordinators using him in more ways and then just being a cover guy and not a lot of rushing
I think that helps him and they think that adds to the Mikey Stander still in the seek a little bit
you also have Trey Hawkins a third on the roster I'm going to dive too deep in him this is a
wild card this is a guy to look out for an OTA's mini camp training camp all that stuff six three
and he's got speed so it's kind of like he's not the Treek Woolen but he's going to look at Treek
Woolen right most of his flaws have been mental so Doron Taylor Jones come in and teach him
and William Gay the new cornerbacks coach can teach him there's a lot of impressive tools to use
and don't be surprised if he surprises some people don't be surprised if he surprises you here
this off season so you're not really relying on Hawkins but I just want to drop his name in there
anyway so my move is signing Jalen Hawkins so those signing a lot of Taylor's incredibly intriguing
I think you sign Jalen Hawkins you got to get the veteran consistency in the room Treek Woolen
love them love them as a prospect love them as a free agent target lack of consistency is a
reason to give the hat tip to Jalen Woolen of course if I'm wrong here you can throw it in my face
but I'm not going to be upset if it's Alante Taylor or if it's Treek Woolen anyway so we're all
going to celebrate as well as you call me out for my wrong prediction so there are some two
two predictions I got for you I got Conor McGovern coming in to be the office alignment again if he's
the projected left guard Nick Allegretti becomes your starting center until maybe the draft we'll
see what they do there and then we've got Alante Taylor or no Alante Taylor Jalen Watson joining the
secondary at the cornerback position which leaves us with the edge group coming up next in our
position preview heading into free agency next week on Lockdown Commanders part of a Lockdown
podcast network your team every day
today's episode of Lockdown Commanders is also brought to you in part by TurboTax it is

appointments we're wrapping up this positional preview ahead of free agency I don't free agency
primer we just call that free agency primer episode number one in a series talking online
talking cornerbacks talking edges now is what we're doing if I can keep track of my own content here
the commanders have a solid floor in their edge group dorms Armstrong isn't me coming back from
injury he obviously was on a probable caliber pace when he got injured in the middle of last season
D church wise junior is back if you didn't catch his introductory or his resigning press conference
I shared it on the YouTube channel and on the audio stream so it's there for you to check out whenever
you want to so you got bookends or you have veteran bookends that proven talent but they're both
coming off serious serious injury so what does the upside really look like a lot of these guys
coming off these types of injuries will tell you they don't really feel like themselves
until about year two coming back from that injury so this is an area that I think despite the
presence of these really solid veterans and young potential talent like Drake Jackson like
Javante Jean Baptiste and even with Javant Kinla potentially moving out to be a big end like Dan
Quinn indicated to me in Indianapolis I think you got to go find people I think you're washing
you're looking for closures right D church wise even before his injury injury more of an edge
setting run defender dorms Armstrong junior certainly had taken that next step to become a
finisher in 2025 but again with that injury you just can't count on him we talked about operating
based off what you know not what you hope you hope Doran's Armstrong is going to return in 2026
to that form but you don't know that he's going to in fact history says much more likely it's
going to happen in 2027 and 2026 is the last year that he's under contract with the Washington
Commander so I think you have a lot of reasons to go out there and try to find some closures here
Washington commanders 2025 sack leader was Von Miller ended up with nine sacks he's now 36 and while
he has publicly stated more than one time that he wants to come back I'm not sure that's in the cards
we shall see obviously Adam Peters is making some moves even into the offseason or into the weekend
here Peters Quinn and Dorontay Jones what do they want they want speed and violence on the defense
to get that they need to go find an elite past rush win rate in a market that is very very top heavy
in the high upside target for me is Odefe oh wait we've talked about him on a few other episodes 27
years old 65 250 plus pound coming off a career best finished to the season with the Los Angeles
chargers away ranked 11th in the NFL and past rush win rate 16.5% last season he was also fifth
in quarterback pressure probability over expected which means he's creating pressure even when teams
are dedicating additional resources to preventing him from doing so he's still got upside to reach
he's still got room to grow 7.5 sacks in just 12 games last year suggests that he is ready to take
that next step and the injuries that prevented him from playing all 17 games not nearly as serious
as the ones that were talking about with these other guys and of course you have the old new guy
right he would be a new guy but obviously he's a little bit older tray Hendrixson a lot of people's
number one ad rusher on the market battled injuries in 2025 though again how serious those injuries
actually were versus how much it was being played up because you didn't want to be there and the team
really wasn't going anywhere stay out past rusher when he was healthy certainly no doubt about that
the price is going to be high likely 25 million plus annual average value to me signing Hendrix it would
definitely be an aggressive move but I just see it is very much a win now move and not that the
commanders don't want to win now I'm just going to have a hard time getting excited about 230 plus
year old dudes coming off serious injuries transaction and detour twice and the dorms arms
strong coming off of the serious injury even if Hendrixson was like it said kind of sandbagging his
injury situation because of what was going on around him then you've got the value player boy a
mafe he's only 27 years old production did dip the last year he had 15 sacks in two seasons before
that by low option 12 million annual average value compared to the projected 19 million annual
average value for odife oh wait or like it said the 25 plus million for tray Hendrixson for a team
that wants to spend big elsewhere like maybe cornerback maybe center you might be going boy a mafe
then of course you also have the Jonathan Grinard trade idea we talked about this a little bit in a
more recent episode but we'll touch on it here again he's halfway through a four year 76 million
dollar deal he wants to say market correcting extension he's looking for about 27 million to 30
million annual average value in that new contract according to reports I haven't talked to him so I
don't know but the Vikings are 46 million dollars over the cap they've made some moves so I don't
know where they are right now but they basically are looking to move on from them Adam Schefter is the
one that I reportedly saw or I saw reportedly saying the Vikings are asking for a day two pick so
a second round or a third rounder he is coming off of the down year in 2025 at three sacks and 12
games due to a shoulder injury not a serious shoulder injury but a shoulder injury 2024 table is a
leap 12 sacks 18 tackles for losses 22 quarterback hits and of course Dorontay Jones was there in 2024
I love the idea of Grinard following Dorontay Jones Washington but the trade asks for me is a
little rich because if you give up that third round pick number 71 overall not for Adam Peters you
have the number seven pick and then you ain't picking again till round six that is a long long time
be sitting there without a draft pick unless they can get that draft pick asked down to like a fifth
rounder by taking all the money that the Minnesota Vikings owe Jonathan Grinard in cash and cap
because Washington has no fourth it would have to be a fifth rounder right or maybe it's a next year
fourth rounder like Commander take all the money next year you to fourth rounder it could become a third
rounder if Grinard returns to that 2024 form I don't know if it's going to happen or not so for me
Odefeo way is the move but I would be very excited I think a lot of you would be very excited Grinard
followed uh Dorontay Jones I mean go get them both go trade for Grinard and sign Odefeo away
as far as I'm concerned on the high end uh the projects uh the projection to leave uh the
projections of signing these guys so we signed three guys according to uh my picks here
Conor McGovern to be an interior office alignment for the Washington commanders and then we signed
Jalen Watson to come be a veteran in the quarterback room and Odefeo way who I would pencil in as the
starting right side defensive and Dorontay Armstrong on the left each which was uh as well on the
right side along with Drake Jackson Juvantage on Baptiste T.J. McGurne and Andre Carter the second
and whatever potential draft picks they bring according to market value contracts and all that
stuff projected cap hits for the first year uh the Washington Bears we roughly left with about 40 to
