For seven years, Steven Stayner lived a life with Kenneth Parnell he believed had been given custody of him by a judge. Like far too many children, Steven would be hurt by the man he had come to think of as a father, and would suffer terrible sexual abuse. But he also lived a life with friends, school, animals and hobbies as he traveled with Parnell across California. Often upset that the coverage of his life only focused on the bad parts we discuss Steven’s life during the time he was kidnapped and take aim at society’s judgements of abuse that continue to keep victims silent.
