Pub Owner's Stalking Ordeal

On March 23rd, former Coronation Street and Hollywood's actor Adam Rickid, a 47-year-old

pub owner and Newt's for a Cheshire faced months of stalking and harassment from a 52-year-old

local man named Ron Clay Hughes.

Rickid runs the Dexter and Jones bar with his wife Katie, and Clay Hughes, who worked

nearby, started showing up uninvited, sending threatening letters, and fixating on bar staff.

It began when Clay Hughes accused Rickid of hacking his phone, then escalated with messages

warning of retaliation, if barred from the pub.

He declared his love for one employee, blamed Rickid for blocking his happiness, and hinted

at dark urges, prompting Rickid to call police and ban, him, immediately.

Rickid grew deeply worried for his staff, whom he sees his family since he and Katie cannot

have children.

He feared Clay Hughes might attack, or worse in the street, leading to safety protocols

like never walking alone, patdowns for weapons, and even putting.

Clay Hughes, in a headlock during one force entry on Christmas Day, the stress-landed

Rickid on anti-anxiety medication, causing convulsions and strains in his marriage.

In court at crew magistrates, Rickid detailed the ordeal, pleading for Clay Hughes to get

help, while staff described constant fear from letters and, texts, Clay Hughes initially

denied charges but pleaded guilty to stalking and harassment after hearing the evidence.

He's now bailed with no contact orders and barred from the pub, facing up to 16 weeks

in custody as sentencing next month, bringing some relief.
