Quebec Court Bans Sperm Donors

Quebec Superior Court has slapped a temporary ban on a man and his son from Donating Spurm

anymore.

The two are accused of fathering hundreds of children through donations, way beyond any

supposed limits.

This injunction stays in place as the full lawsuit moves forward.

The case comes from a woman who used sperm from the father for three of her kids and from

the son for a fourth.

She claims they broke an agreement where the father would stop after 25 kids and the

son after 10.

Court papers show her digging turned up the father linked to over 450 children and the

son to more than 160.

That sheer number raises big concerns with the kids and families involved.

Judges and experts warn that so many half-siblings can lead to health risks and emotional issues

down the line.

The ruling points out each new donation just adds to the problems for the woman and her

four children.

The men push back, saying no such agreement ever existed, though they do admit going beyond

those numbers.

On March 18th, Justice Simon Chamberlain ruled the excess clearly tops where professionals

recommend, calling it an ongoing harm.

With the ban holding for now, this spotlight shines on tighter rules for sperm donors

everywhere as courts weigh the long-term fallout for all those families.
