Rams Defense Eyes Championship with Stafford's Return

On March 11th, the Los Angeles Rams fell short in the NFC title game against the Seattle

Seahawks last season, mainly because they're defense and special teams couldn't stop Seattle

from scoring 31 points.

Seattle controlled the clock late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory with quarterback

Sam Darnold throwing for 346 yards, running back Kenneth Walker, gaining 111 yards from

Scrimmage, and wide receiver Jackson Smith-Enjigba, catching 10 passes for 100, 53 yards.

Matthew Stafford's return for the 20-26 season has the Rams eyeing another strong run, but

only if the defense steps up big time.

Players on that unit know they have worked to do after ranking 10th in points allowed,

but 17th in total yards surrendered last year.

Defensive tackle Colby Turner reached out right after Stafford's announcement, texting

the defensive line group chat with edge rushers Jared Verse, Byron Young, and Braden Fisk.

He stressed that they all need to hold things down, now that Stafford is back putting

faith in them.

The team added cornerbacks, Trent McDuffy and Jalen Watson, to shore up the secondary,

where improvements are crucial.

The past rush remains a strength, with those four alignment, combining for 29.5 sacks

last season.

Rams fans are hopeful these changes will turn the defense into a championship caliber

group and get the team back in contention.
