Rams Strengthen Secondary, McDuffie vs Evans

On March 12th, the Los Angeles Rams kicked off their offseason by trading for a lead

cornerback Trent McDuffy from the Kansas City Chiefs quickly.

Followed by signing his former teammate Jalen Watson as the number two corner, General Manager

Les Sneed also extended contracts for safeties, Quentin Lake and Cam Curle, turning a week

secondary into a solid union.

Rams fans were thrilled with these moves right from the start.

Now the San Francisco 49ers have signed veteran wide receiver Mike Evans to a 3-year 42-million

dollar deal.

At 32 years old, Evans brings a proven track record with over 1,000 receiving yards in

11 straight healthy seasons in 100.

Eight career touchdowns, the 49ers needed a top wide out after losing Yuan Jennings in

free agency.

Rams supporters see this as perfect timing, with McDuffy stepping up as their number one

corner to handle Evans.

Since 25, McDuffy earned all pro honors in recent years and became the highest paid

corner in NFL history on a 4-year 100, $24 million extension.

In their matchup, McDuffy shines in coverage and run defense, allowing only 9.2 yards

per catch last season while ranking high and fewest.

Miss tackles.

Evans has size as 6-foot-5 and 231 pounds, but McDuffy holds edges in speed, agility and

youth.

At its safety depth from curl, lake and camera in kitchens, the Rams look ready for divisional

battles, crediting Sneed for flipping a key weakness into a real advantage.
