Rangers Blank Flames, Lafreniere Hat Trick

For the Calgary Flames, it's March 11th. Here's what's happening.

The New York Rangers shut out the Calgary Flames, forward nothing in Madison Square Garden.

Alexis LaFranaire led the way with the hat trick, while Jonathan Quicks did tall in

net for his second straight strong start. This marked the Flames second game on a five-game

Eastern Road Trip. Calgary's Matt Coronado topped all players with six shots on goal, but

they couldn't crack quick.

The Rangers grabbed a one-nothing lead after the first period on LaFranaire's Powerplay

goal. Calgary had prime chances early, including Coronado's breakaway on his first shift,

and Yegor Sharrangovic's shorthanded shot that hit the crossbar. New York pulled away

in the second period, with goals from Conor Shiri at the 1028 mark, and LaFranaire's

second six minutes later, on a mercy. Nice passing play. LaFranaire sealed his hat trick

with 218 left in the third. Coronado had one last great look, late, but it slid just

wide, leaving the flames scoreless.
