The AI industry has spent years telling us how artificial intelligence is transforming our lives. Well now it's sending out alarm bells. This all started with the CEO of Anthropic. Dario Amodei is warning that that technology could potentially get beyond human control. And he says that AI development is moving so quickly that safety measures may not be keeping pace. And he warns us that autonomous AI agents could potentially take over the internet within six to twelve months.

Joining us now is Eduardo DiMartin. He's the CEO and founder of Industrial AI based here in Vancouver. Eduardo, thank you for taking the time. Thank you for having me, Robin. Okay, so are we really going to see AI agents taking over the internet? I don't know. So this was the surprise he was sounding alarm bells. Yeah, I mean every technology has early starters. And as tech evolves, you know, smaller incumbents come into the market, start building technology that's safer, smarter, faster. And that's more customer relevant. And the current larger players that have invested in a methodology in a way of delivering technology, they're trying to protect a market at all costs. And I really think that this is a play from the bigger players. And there's only a couple that are actually in the market. And for them to protect their turf, it is in their best interest to create guardrails and slow everything down that they advise government to deploy and then government listen to them.

And then they slow down the market so that they can keep their market. So this is a PR campaign? I don't know what it is. But a mechanism to slow down everything so that you take the advantage away from other players to make doesn't make AI safer. There's nothing in that letter that really talks about making AI safer. There's nothing that that whistleblower said that was actual information that you can use to make a decision. And really it's about creating a baseline in my opinion, slow everything down. So companies like mine and other smaller players globally can have to get slow down. But the reality is that when you see this technology, it is getting better every single time. And isn't that an indication that it is it's getting so much better that it could potentially supersede what it was set out to do?

And all these guys, these are all the same guys that's here four years ago that AGI was going to happen within 12 months. Is that never happened? The curious thing is that you have whistleblower come out and then their box validates what they said. That's not a whistleblower. And then the CEO of company says, yeah, we have safety problems. If you have safety problems, you should be liable for that. You should, there's significant issues with your company if you cannot create safe products. So this is all I think a lot. And they're also IPOing in the next next little month, I believe. So this is all in my opinion. I say a triggering of the fear side of technology in order to get control of the markets. They were not it's very well known that these types of models are not the way to AGI. And so when they first came out and now it's pretty clear that they're not.

And they do really amazing things and they're very useful in technology to achieve many great results. I think it's a net ad for people, but as people fear these technologies that AGI is going to take over your computer and all these things, all the cyber techniques are all have the equal technology and counter all that. I kind of feel like there's a lot of fear going on here that's driving us. And I do believe that their intentions are less about society and more about the preservation of their own companies. This is basically self serving for them. Yeah. But let me ask you this, is technology growing so quickly that the horse is basically left the barn and we're trying to rain it all in? The horse that left the barn was really around natural language processing in the we've been using AI for a long, long time in technology is not new. And computer vision was the most common form of AI machine learning.

And in many of the products and services that people had in the background, a lot of this technology was already running, but people never had access to it because it was too hard to use. And so it always was software developers that had to use that data centers. And then what happened three years ago is that natural language processing, which is AI reading language and speaking language went up 1000 fold. And it was really, really good because we've trained it on a model large enough, which was the entire internet to get to being useful. Now with that, the open AI opened up the open up to Pandora's box by giving everyone a text prompt that allowed everyone to be basically a data scientist and sort through data, human language at speeds that we've never been accustomed in society. And so we're able to converse and use this technology in ways that we couldn't before to move through language. And that's something we've never experienced.

So yes, that it has moved incredibly fast, but it's also new to society. So we're using this and discovering new ways to use this. And I think all of that is as consumers is giving us an impression that is changing every day. The models are getting better, but it takes a lot of compute to get these things to be useful at scale. It takes a lot of programming and software development in order to scale these in within organizations. And so there is a lot of work that has to happen to make this technology work at the levels that were used to in a tool or a piece of software that they had used day to day. But if you think about it, to get AI to fill out and book a trip for you and all that, it's not like you just ask a large language model to free. There's, you have to do some finagling. There's an art form to it and all that sort of stuff. So there's still a lot of evolution in the product development side of this.

It's very raw. And I think that rawness sometimes is interpreted as it's moving at these great speeds that no one can keep up with. And the other narrative that is happening is that, you know, those people that are investing in these, in all these companies and these narratives are aspirational and people are trying to create this, how do you say this level of excitement and hike in order to raise money and they take a bet on things. And sometimes those things don't go the way they thought. So I think, so I think that we're also subject to that narrative that happens at the same time. But the best way to understand it is to use it. And I'm sure most people, a bunch of use cases they use personally that are great. And there's much stuff that it's not very helpful for. I want to ask one last question. We have seen the federal government set up a framework for how AI needs to operate in this country. And that's because the government saw that the technology was getting more powerful. And yet aren't these companies wanting it to get more powerful?

And yet they signed on to this framework, which by the way has no teeth. Yeah, I mean, look, where our philosophy in my company industrial, what we've quickly figured out what this evolution in AI is useful for is parsing and organizing language data. And one of the problems humans have today is we have too much data I can get through. So we kind of turn AI onto the data and we get AI to organize and the data in ways that makes sense to people. And those people dictate those rules and those people consume that data in the way they want to consume it. And so we're creating a model for the company that's theirs and we're training their model on their own data, not my model on their data. And so that's where I think the pocket is going. And I'm not sure if the government understands that. But at the end of the day, I really kind of feel that what the government should be doing with AI is focusing on who owns this stuff like a fun and artists and you take my painting.

You know, these kinds of things privacy, people's privacy, protecting citizens, people's privacy and transparency of technology. That's to me is the most important thing that will allow technology to evolve. But at the same time with some sort of values and standards that are aligned with Canada being safe and sovereign. We're going to have to leave the conversation there. We've run out of time. But thank you so much for taking the time to join us on the program. Thank you, Ram. It's my pleasure.
