Reading of Names Ceremony Honors Victims

El Paso's District Attorney's Office and local law enforcement are teaming up for the

reading of the name ceremony this Sunday, April 19th, at 8 a.m. at the Crime Victims Memorial

in Ralph T. Cloud Park, down in the lower valley on Williamette Avenue.

This event honors folks lost to violent crimes, drunk driving wrecks, and officers killed

on duty, kicking off National Crime Victims' Rights Week.

From April 19th through April 25th, families of victims, community members, DA staff,

and cops show up every year to pay respects, making sure these stories stay alive in the

cities.

Memory.

They'll read aloud nearly 2,000 names from the past few decades, spotlighting cases like

Fallen Deputy Peter Herrera, victims of the desert, killer David Wood, and those from

the El Paso Walmart shooting.

It's been a tradition since 1981 nationwide, pushing for justice and support, and this

year spotlight's listening, acting, and advocating to protect victims while strengthening

communities.
