It is Friday, March 27th, 2026. This is another edition of baseball today.
That is my man Trevor Plut.
Buying Chris Rose, producer Dan Along for the ride as well.
Hope everybody had a wonderful second opening day.
We've got a third opening day today as the final six teams out there get to crack the
the standings at some point. That's awesome.
How was your Thursday?
I had a great day. Watched a ton of ball, got a lot of stuff done around the house, took
Teddy out and threw him BP on the field, hit some grown balls.
Like that's those, those are the days man.
That is a perfect opening day. I think I watched every game.
I just, I don't think I moved. There's like a, I tried to.
I watched a lot of ball that's in barbecuing as well.
I didn't even get to finish my day. I went in the hot tub at night.
Watch some stuff on my phone in the hot tub. It's great.
Great day.
Yeah, all right. Let's go do that.
Thursday was so special. We got a pair of tips of the cap.
We'll start in Baltimore. Unfortunately, your twins lost to the Orioles behind Mr. Rogers.
It was fantastic. This was the best part of the day though.
This is 109 year old Arthur Green throwing out the first pitch.
He is a World War II and Korean war veteran.
He is being escorted out there by his daughter, who actually has been a 40 year veteran
at ABC News and here he is.
You know there's a big moment for the franchise.
When Gunner Henderson is the one catching the first pitch, it was awesome.
What an absolute stud right there.
You see he skipped over the line.
He wasn't about to walk on the foul line.
That is legit right there.
And like a good, a nice stroke right there.
Like that was, he still got it.
I bet back in the day that guy was pumping cheese.
Do you think that the person who created the jersey was like,
I'm going to have to put the number 109 on a jersey.
How frickin awesome is that?
It's pretty awesome right there.
Definitely. I'm taking the hat off to that.
Yes.
You are 100% correct on that one.
Really, really cool.
Thank you so much for your service.
Lifelong Orioles fan saw great peace on him.
His daughter that ABC News ran and he just, he had the time of his life,
which is fantastic.
The twins had no chance yesterday.
I wish I would have known that.
I told the boys just sit down.
In the meantime, all the way across the country at the last game that started on Thursday,
the Seattle Mariners welcomed 11 year old Brody.
And he is a kid that a couple years ago was diagnosed with cancer.
He is now we are happy to report cancer free.
And before the game, he got to run around the bases.
He actually tripped from what we understand at first base.
Family member met him out on the field and helped him get around the rest of the bases.
Stopped at each base where he put his hands in the air,
triumphantly as he should have the crowd roared.
And then when he got to home plate,
Josh Naylor was there.
George Kirby was there.
Miller was there.
Just a, I mean, I've watched this like 10 times and cried every time.
That's, that's amazing right there.
I mean, obviously he's having a ton of fun.
Shout out to family member that went out there and helped around the bases.
Then the Mariners did a great job meeting at the plate.
That's great.
Love that.
Baseball has got to have the best pregame ceremony stuff.
Totally.
Totally.
You know, it's just making moments.
And that's it.
It's the way we go through life.
We want to make moments for our family members and for Brody.
He touched a lot of lives last night.
And so continue your good fight.
We are so happy to hear that your cancer free and enjoy your Mariners baseball season.
Man, awesome.
Yep.
Really cool stuff.
All right.
Let's get to the on the field.
It's where I reason I'm wearing the cap of the two-time defending World Series
champion Los Angeles Dodgers on this day.
They picked up right where they left off.
Everything looks different coming off the bat.
Christmas.
Deep to the center.
Lawler is not going to go to this one.
Right back at it on opening day.
So what are we ready to say that the NL West is over?
I mean, probably for being honest, Chris.
That's ridiculous to say, but the Dodgers are that damn good.
And that guy is so good.
Will Smith.
I feel like we just don't talk about him enough.
And for a lot of guys and pitchers that struggled coming off of the WBC.
We'll talk about some of those guys.
Will Smith comes out here banging.
What a stud.
Yeah.
I mean, you look at their whole lineup.
Freddie Freeman was the only dude that didn't get a hit.
You know, Andy Pahes.
He was fantastic for like three of the months last year.
Still had good power numbers, but then really dipped and struggled to get into their playoff lineup
and ended up making, you know, though, as a defensive replacement,
one of the plays that we've seen defensively in World Series history.
So if they can get his bat back on track.
I mean, Yamamoto with the exception of the Padoma Homer was a beast again.
It's just, I don't know.
We could say this five times a week about them.
How good they are.
Yeah.
And the bullpen did their job.
Again, the line comes in.
Tanner Scott comes in does his thing.
That Andy Pahes has catch in the playoffs.
I feel like it doesn't get enough love in like the general talk about catches in the post season
because it truly did save the World Series.
Totally.
It's funny.
They replayed it last night on the NBC broadcast.
And you forget.
Key case playing left and just got trucked on that play.
Pahes is so much bigger than him.
Like pot.
If that had been the NFL Pahes would have been flagged for something.
Yeah, he was not going to catch that ball.
He just ran over.
What do you think of the pregame ceremonies and everything?
Like they introduced Freddie Freeman and he didn't walk through the curtain.
Everybody's like, whoa.
I was like, is he taking a shit or something?
And then they did it again with Mickey Rowe and he didn't walk through the curtain.
I was like, what's going on?
Then they reintroduced the guys and Freddie had the 2024 trophy and Mickey Rowe had the 2025 and Will Farrell's driving them all the way around.
I thought it was cute.
I did not see that.
So you're telling me for the first time.
So they did that.
I mean, that's great.
I mean, I had two World Series trophies back to back.
I do the same thing.
I would make every single team look at those things before the game.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was good.
I mean, it was.
And I love the, by the way, I love the the gold brim of that ass.
Yeah.
And the uniforms.
That's one of the great things about winning the World Series is the next year you.
You get dressed up for the dance.
It's pretty nice.
Not sure if you saw this.
The Dodgers put out via their social media team.
A promo for the 2026 season.
God admit, it came together really, really well.
It was very well edited and shot.
But listen to the message in this.
They want to beat us because they want to be us.
But if we're being honest, sometimes it's fun to root for the bad guy.
Have the Dodgers officially arrived in the bad guy category.
I don't have them as the bad guy.
I don't.
I know they're the best.
And I know people want to beat them.
But I don't think they have like bad guy energy.
They just don't do.
I mean, like who's who's a bad guy on that team?
I don't think bad guy is who like is Kike considered the bad guy?
Like he's like a bad boy.
If you know what I'm talking about, like, but show.
Hey, it's so nice.
Freddie Freeman's so nice.
We'll Smith is so nice.
Like it's, they don't have bad guy energy to me.
Well, I don't think they're talking about the individuals.
I think they're talking about the collective.
Like, okay.
So they go out and they outspend everybody.
The ownership is the bad guy.
I think that when you get to this level.
And it happened a couple of years ago with the chiefs
when they were going for a third straight.
People were sick of the chiefs, right?
You, we do build people up and tear them down very quickly
in this country and the sports world very quickly.
And because of the financial disparity that we have in this game.
We can sit here and argue all day what it comes down to.
But there is a financial disparity.
That's not a perceived thing.
That is a fact.
And because of that.
Then yes, the Dodgers are going to take on the role of the bad guy.
See, I don't have the chiefs as the bad guy either.
I know what you're saying.
People were sick of them winning.
I have the patriots more of the bad guy and their dynasty.
Because Bill Belichek is like he's not a...
He's not a nice personality guy.
And Tigray was very, very much one he was playing.
Super cutthroatish.
All about the business and grunk.
They had guys.
I feel like they had some bad guy energy.
But I don't know.
I just don't get that from the Dodgers.
Dan, quickly, if you can find Blake Snell's outfit
from yesterday.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I just don't get that from the Dodgers.
Dan, quickly, if you can find Blake Snell's outfit
from yesterday.
I think we got to talk about that.
We can get that later in the show if you want.
Wait, where he was walking in?
Yeah.
Oh, I...
The only ones I saw were Mookie and Freddie Freeman.
Freddie was...
That was an incredible outfit.
You got to see Blake Snell's.
I...
You know, I'm team Blake Snell big time.
But I think this one was a little...
A little much, I didn't see it.
I think it's on his IG if I had the guess.
Okay.
Well...
Even on Goria had a hilarious comment on it.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Okay.
Even on Goria had a hilarious comment on it.
Okay.
All right.
Well, we're looking for it and we'll see what we can do.
Just...
You know what?
Let us know if you think the Dodgers are the bad guy
because they were...
They totally leaned into it, you know?
Basically saying that everybody else is jealous of us.
And, you know, I even had a clip that I did with Miggy Row
and spring training talking about
are the Dodgers bad for baseball.
And it did huge numbers
because people have an opinion one way or another on it.
I feel like bad guys don't say, hey, I'm the bad guy.
I didn't say that.
If you're the bad guy, you're just the bad guy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's interesting.
I don't know.
Just real quickly, more numbers from last night.
The Dodgers pitchers retired 18 or the last night.
You got to get the whole picture though
because the pants are just something else.
Holy smokes.
We're showing Blake Snell.
He looks like the kid that's showing up
to eighth grade at the beginning of...
Like, it's the beginning of the year.
Just took the pants out of a package.
Holy pleat me.
It's a little bit...
Like, it doesn't fit him, right?
Like, I know the bad guy movement is here.
I mean, I've partaken it to a certain extent as well.
That's a little much from my guy Blake Snell.
With a tucked-in shirt, the rolled-up sleeves.
I got to go to Dodger Stadium to interview Nolan
or Anato today.
Maybe I'll show up looking just like that.
That will be so good.
Dressed as my Blake Snell outfit.
That's great.
Really good.
All right, guys.
I want to tell you a little bit about the wave.
The sunset on the horizon.
That island in the middle.
It sounds like a day at the beach.
Or for us, a day at the ballpark.
Opening day.
We just had it.
Laplaya awaits.
Get away.
Get ready for that first pitch.
Take the day off.
Hopefully you made an opening day of vacation
with the Corona pre-game show.
It was awesome on our John Boy Media live stream.
It happened on Thursday.
If you didn't get a chance to see it,
you can go check it out, right?
Just check out our YouTube channels.
We want you to warm up for the season
with the taste of Laplaya.
Some of the best players in the game.
Dive in head first.
We got to find out about jazz and what he was up to in the off season.
And PCA with that new,
rich old extension he just got.
He was talking to us.
So here from those players,
they shared their predictions,
their rituals,
who they thought was ready to make waves this season.
Hey, baseball is officially back.
We want you to kick off the day with the Corona pre-game show.
Happen on Thursday.
If you weren't there along for the ride,
it's okay.
It's always there for your consumption on demand.
All we want to tell you is let the vacation vibes roll.
All day long.
Corona.
This is our.
Laya.
All right.
Paul Skins would love a redo.
You know how like you hit that breakfast ball on the tee when it's like 650
in your teen off.
You're like, oh, man.
Can I get a second one?
They really hit that one the way I wanted.
Well,
he would love to have a retie of what happened in Queens against the New York
Metz on an opening day as one of his fielders was certainly the center
of unwanted attention.
A lot of his pitches are side to side.
Baby to center field.
Crews started in and it's burned.
It's over them.
Send them.
For two Mets.
And the first pitch to Marcus Simeon to start his New York career.
Oh, and Crews boxed that one.
A nightmarish start for O'Neill Crews on opening day.
It's like the batting average on balls and play thing was super high today.
And that'll go down as the season goes on.
I mean, it happens to baseball stuff like that.
It didn't happen to you yet.
You know, this this kind of start like is it surprising that it hasn't happened
or you just figured like, you know, it was kind of bound to have had one of these days
sometimes.
Oh, yeah, it's nice to get out of the way.
He's got to keep working that ball straight at him came in, got a bad read.
And you know, he's been working hard out there.
He just needs to continue to get better.
And then the one in the sun just lost it in the sun.
What about shades versus no shade?
Yeah, we need to make sure that we're prepared right there.
I'll translate for Don Kelly.
Why the fuck wasn't my center field or wearing sunglasses?
Yeah.
I mean, what are we doing, dude?
Yeah, I mean, not a great day for a new cruise out there.
I mean, that's that can be a tough ball.
People say that all the time about when you're in the outfield, balls hit straight
at you on a line.
There's most difficult balls to read.
But you're a big center field.
You got to make the play.
And then this one, yeah, like if you don't have shades on and you miss that,
it's a very bad look.
At least they weren't on his head on like his hat.
That's what you're seeing that we've seen that before.
It was like back to back plays too.
Just everything kind of compounded right there yet.
Skins on the mound.
So it becomes even a bigger story.
Just a bad look for a needle.
And he's going to have to wear that one.
Hopefully, Chris, times like this, instead of digging a hole and crawling in it,
which is like, you know, what you want to do.
Hopefully it kind of wakes him up and he's out there, you know, doing the best he can
and continuing to work because they need him out there.
Oh, yeah.
No, they need him out there and they need him to continue to grow.
If this franchise is really ultimately going to get back, you know,
we asked the question on yesterday's show, what would be a successful season for them?
And I said, playing meaningful games where they're still very much alive
and playoff contention the last two weeks of the year.
They're not going to get to where they want to get to if O'Neill Cruz doesn't continue to develop.
I mean, yes, they got two homers from Brandon Loud.
They got one from Ryan O'Hern.
So two of their big offseason pickups by a trade and free agency certainly contributed.
They score.
You would have figured holy smokes.
If you had said they were going to score seven runs with schemes on the mound,
you're like, chalk it up.
We're want to know.
Yeah.
Yeah, agreed.
I'm happy that Brandon Loud came in there and did that for them.
That's got to feel good.
Like you mentioned, big time offseason acquisition coming through for you.
But, you know, when skiing, yeah,
skiing doesn't get out of the first inning.
That's, that's not going to happen very often.
No, and it feels like such a waste.
I mean, you had, it's, you don't have to go, let's assume he makes 30 starts this year.
You don't have to go 30 and O when Paul skiing starts.
But you sure shit got to go like 22 and eight.
22.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, I mean, you don't want to waste those days.
Most of the time he's going to keep you in the game at the very least.
And, you know, I would say a handful of times he's going to dominate the game where you're going to win pretty easily as long as you score a few runs.
So, yeah, I mean, it is.
It does feel like when skiing is on the bump that you got to really, really take advantage of those days.
I will say, you just start to game out for the walk.
There's a seven-pitch walk.
I think it's just going to door another one in that inning as well.
So, you know, there's a little bit of blame.
And we saw this throughout kind of the big leagues.
Again, I feel like a couple of guys struggled in their regular season debuts after performing in the day.
I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Maybe like they had the adrenaline dump already.
They weren't as amped up for opening day.
This one obviously heavily impacted by our guy on Neil Cruz out there.
Yeah.
I mean, we heard skiing during the interview.
It's pretty fun.
Batting average of ball and play that that number is going to go down.
But yeah, he was not to blame.
The other walk that inning was a 10-pitch at bat.
Yeah.
I Luis Robert of all people who is not known for having a key nine.
In fact, he's never had more than 40 walks in a single season.
That was really the one before everything fell apart in center field.
But yeah, he gave up the.
He gave up the seven pitch walk to Lindor.
He gave up the blooper that made it first and third to Soto.
Polanco had a swinging bun hit.
So, but give them that's credit.
Like against a dude like this.
Make him work.
Put the balls in play.
I had no problem with Don Kelly.
Come out and take him out.
Even though he didn't get out of the first inning.
Right.
37 pitches.
It's day one.
You know, I'm sure he had overexerted himself during the World Baseball Classic.
So, I have no problem with Kelly.
We can just put massive a massive bet on Paul Schien's rebound start.
Who's he facing next?
Because they're in trouble.
Question.
Look that up.
I give you this step.
With Schien's day.
The pirates went 11 and two.
When the team scored at least just four runs during a Schien start last year.
All he needed was four.
And they still went 11 of 13 times.
Damn.
What a bummer.
I hate it when that happens with good pitchers.
It's just.
And the.
You wait all off season to watch your team and your frickin' stud can't even make it out of first.
And they're all earned, right?
Yeah.
There was.
Because even a sum ball he didn't hit.
So, that's a double or a single for Simeon.
Yeah.
So, you know,
they all earned, right?
Yeah, there was.
Because even a sum ball he didn't hit.
So, that's a double or a single for Simeon.
Yep.
Yep.
Oh, that starts against the reds.
Okay.
Look out, reds.
That could be Schien's against Abbott, who was fantastic against the redsocks.
So, there you go.
Speaking of which.
Boy, there were some left handed pitchers that were tossing.
tossing. James, we're not even going to have a chance to talk about Trevor Rogers. It was great
against your twins, but I want to focus on guys who either won the Saiyung or finished runner-up
to the Saiyung award. Terrick Scoobal and what might be his final opening day start for the
Detroit Tigers. I know Tigers fans are probably sick of hearing me utter that phrase, but I'll
do it because I can for one last time. Six innings, no earn run, six K's, three hits, no walks,
utter dominance, and a Tigers win eight to two over the Padres. Garrett Crochet just
is sharp for Boston and Cincinnati. Six shutty for him and a three nothing win. He was awesome.
Christopher Sanchez dirty against the Rangers. Ten K's, six innings, no runs, three hits,
zero walks, which of those three left-headed pitchers is actually most important to his team
success this year. I still think it's Scoobal because he does even with, you know,
bringing in Framber, some of the guys taking the next step in that lineup, you know,
McGonagall's there had a great day. I still think he's like the team identity of the Detroit Tigers.
If you go like to the Red Sox, Crochet is a big part of it, but there's a Roman Anthony
discussion. There's that whole entire outfield discussion. Like they they have, you know,
a ton of depth in that rotation. Like I just, I think Scoobal means more, and I want to put
Sanchez second in that group. It seems to me like, again, I know there's superstars on that team,
but if they don't have him pitching at this elite level, I'm not, I'm not super into the pitching
staff right now if we're being honest. Like take him out of the equation. We're talking about
a completely different Philly's team, but I think you can say that even more for Scoobal. So I think
Scoobal's the right answer here. I'm actually going to go with the one guy that you almost bypassed
in Gary Crochet. I just think he sets a tempo and listen, you've played enough games in Fenway Park
where things get crazy there all the time and to have a guy that can strike out and put up the
strikeout numbers that Crochet can is so enormous. Like you can't have contact guys in that ballpark.
It just too much funky shit happens. There's no foul territory. That wall, they say it's 305
feet from home plate. It's not. So, you know, just little fly balls turn into doubles all the time
there. Just you need a dude that can just mow everybody down. And I think it's so important for him to
be a tone center. I like, I love what they've done with the rotation in the off season. Essentially
adding 60% new stuff and even early if you, you know, want to throw him in there as a new guy even
though we saw him toward the end of last year. So it's, I'm a big fan of his plus the way he looks.
Something about massive left handers that are balled and look like they should be doing time
in a federal prison. I want that guy pitching on my team. Isn't that Christopher Sanchez and him?
They're both massive left hand. I don't know about like the prison thing. That's a weird thing to
say about Sanchez. It seems to have like a more delightful feel to him. But did you see what
Garakrochet screamed after he struck somebody out yesterday? He's a, he's crazy. He's a nightmare
out there. Yes. He doesn't look like somebody that should have been in the movie con air back in the
day. Love that movie, by the way. But in this question, there's no wrong or right answer to this
question. These guys are all very valuable to their dreams. Of course they are, but it's, you know,
it's usable. You know what? While we're here, I didn't, I didn't watch much of the Orioles and
twins. It was on my octobox. That's the course. You know, what, what do you, what do you want to know
about the game? How great Rogers was. He looked great. There were some opportunities. I mean,
the twins put traffic. There's, they were one for 12 with runners in scoring position. They do.
Okay. Yeah, there was a lot of that going on. Okay. You see Byron Bucks on a triple on a ball
down a left field line. That's badass. Oh, that's great. Didn't take a funky hop off of the wall
out there. Not really. Just took a care of him off of the wall. Like it was just, he just saw
who was in left field for them yesterday. Okay. Causers in center. Forget who was in left field.
Just kind of played it. It was a ward, maybe. Just kind of played it like gingerly that didn't
really rush and just take the base right in front of them. Yeah. That's who it was.
Now you know. Now you know. All right. Good. Let us know what was your favorite thing that you saw
on opening day. You know, there's a ton of baseball to watch trying to keep my eyes on virtually
everything. Couldn't, couldn't see it all, but definitely try it our best. But it was just good
to have a whole day back. I swear, the ass imprint on my couch because of yesterday,
like we got a fairly new couch. It's a few months old. It's big, very comfortable couch. Yeah,
it's a massive house. Can I have a big couch? Okay. The couch is really nice. And at the end of
the day, I have to fluff up the pillow. You fluff it? I have to. I have to. Don't, don't go dirty.
You've gone to just this real CD directionally. I know you're talking on this show. Karate
shop it. No, because I don't know. I don't want to beat up the pillows. What's my show?
I'll do all day when you're watching ball. Oh, she gets a hell out of that. Yeah. She's gone.
She goes shopping. No, she hasn't go shopping. She's got plenty of other stuff going on in her
life. She was with her friend Lisa yesterday. For most of the day, they had a couple things they
had to do. So that was good. I'm not like saying that shopping's a bad thing. I'm saying to, you know,
big daddy roast those the credit card and says, honey, take care of yourself. Oh, no. Come on now.
What are we doing? What are we doing? We're not having this discussion. We are not having this
discussion. We'll have this one with baseball back. That means every single day, there's a brand
new storyline. There's a new breakout. There's a new debate to be had. And if we're going to talk
about the biggest issues in the game, you've got to be watching them unfold. And that's where T-Mobile
lends a helping hand by bringing back the best offer in baseball. T-Mobile is once again offering

Interesting start to his season. Chase Midra turned him around and went up or tank in left
field. And after that, the white socks barely touched him. Violation on Carol.
Yeah, that last voice he heard is of Brewer's owner, Mark Antinaseo. He had the headset on as
he was watching from the front row. I'm going to stand up as well. He should. I know the Miz is one
of those guys that you talked about could be a kind of a maybe not even a dark horse for the
Saiyung in the National League. But what is it you want to see out of him? And what did you see on
Thursday? Made you say, yeah, this could happen. It's being able to put away guys when he gets
ahead in the count and not waste pitches. So effectively have better command. Because I think that
there's there's a difference between throwing strikes and then like getting outs with those strikes.
Good tunneling, presenting pitches as strikes to get out of the strike zone so you get that swing
and miss. He has like the pure electric type of arm and you almost have to kind of like reign it
in a little bit. And when he does that, you get performances like yesterday. So yeah, I mean,
that's why I had him as you mean, I think the question was, you know, who outside of
schemes in scuba, do you think has a shot taken the Saiyung away? And it's he's got one of the
most electric arms in the game. I mean, he kind of reminds me of the guys we were just talking
about in crochet in Sanchez in scuba, like he's very, very important to his team. He's a big
tall guy with that type of stuff. Like he can carry this brewer's team and he's, I don't know if he
has to be necessarily like like the ace there because they don't really do that. I guess they
kind of do in Milwaukee. He just have one guy. So he's got to be the guy. He had changed my mind
right there when I was thinking about it because they had Corbin and they had Freddie and now they
have Miz and the reason they're able to make those trades is because they have a pitching pipeline.
He's the latest in it. But I think he's got a chance to be like like really, really good for years
to come. So he had 11 of the brewer's 20 strike that was an opening day record for their
franchise. They only got 27 outs and 20 of them. He had the white socks going back to the dugout
with their head bowed down. As far as Miz's numbers, he is the youngest player since 1901 to have
at least 11 strikeouts and two or fewer hits allowed on opening day. Afterward, he said, listen,
I'm just out here to get my five innings in and make sure the team's good. I wish he would have
said, Hey, I know it's early in the season, but this five inning outing is going to turn into seven
or eight later in the year. Like to me, that's the next step for him is the mentality of
and you talked about it. It's it's the ability to put guys away where you're not throwing an extra
four or five pitches per at bat, you know, just missing nibbling guys being able to get to certain
pitches and instead stay in the game because the aces in this league are pitching in the seventh and
eighth inning. They're not watching by the sixth. And I think that that's really the key. Now,
listen, last year, he wowed us with those what four or five starts before starting the all-star
game. He ended up making 14 regular season starts. He made it to the seventh one time. He made it to
the sixth only two other times. So me, for me, that's the natural progression. And I don't know if
it fully develops here in year really his first full season in the bigs, but that's what I want to
see out of him. I agree. I mean, those guys that go deep into games or the guys that learn how to
listen soft early contact or when they get ahead, put guys away right away, you know, avoid the
the six pitch of bats, the seven pitch of bats and kind of, you know, have a decision within the
first five pitches. Well, unfortunately for the brewers, listen, the great news is they won their
season opener 14 to two and miss through the ball that way. The bad news is Jackson,
sure, you just went on the injured list prior to the game. He's out two to four weeks with a small
fracture in his hand. He actually got that right before the world baseball classic ended up playing
for Venezuela in the world baseball classic came back played a few games for the brewers. His hand
still wasn't right. And they said, hey, let's put you on the shelf. Now, when a guy goes, doesn't
feel great, still plays in the world baseball classic, it'll raise a few eyebrows. Should the
brewers be pissed that that happened? I think it depends on what the communication was of this.
Like did he let them know that he was banged up before he went because a lot of times, you know,
especially early on in the season in spring training, you're going to feel things that you don't
feel right because your body's getting used to being on the field again, try to play through
some of those things. You know, a hand fracture is a little bit different. I mean,
I got to imagine it, I don't know, like if he was really bothering him and he just took some,
you know, medication to kind of suit the pain because that's kind of not what you want to do. I
understand he probably really, really wanted to play in the WBC. And if it wasn't bothering him
that much, then you just play through it. And they got worse, I guess. I mean, that's had to be
the case. We got worse. I don't, I don't really fault him for that, man, trying to play through
some things. And yeah, like best case scenario for the brewers, he would have been like, hey, I'm
not going to play in the WBC. I feel like a little bit banged up. I want to make sure I'm right
for the season, but that's just not the mentality when you have that kind of tournament. You know,
that's not. I don't think anybody would do that. You know, the hand is funny because I've talked to
so many guys who have broken something in there. And there's times where there's soreness and
there's times where there's a real injury. And sometimes at first look, fractures don't even show
up, right? I mean, let's remember what happened with Kyle Tucker last year. Remember when he was
struggling kind of in the middle of the season, and then he went back and they were like, yeah,
there's a, there's a real problem in here. Like he's been playing with a major issue and never
really got that corrected in Kyle Tucker. The last three months of the season was never the same
player. And I think the brewers are just trying to get out ahead of this. It just feels like, man,
couldn't we have taken care of this in early March before he went and played for team Venezuela,
but at the same time, as you mentioned, if he, I don't know what the difference is between feeling
a fracture there and feeling soreness. Yeah, you might not, he might not have known it was bad.
And again, you're trying to play through things. I mean, all throughout a season, guys are doing that.
And you're right about the fractures. I, when I fractured my rib, I played for three days or
four days after that. Didn't it hurt, but I was like, okay, it's just like, I got hit with the
pitch. It's going to hurt. Like, I'll be, I'll get through it. And then eventually it's, I couldn't
get through it. There's too much, but yeah, it takes a little bit of time. And then yeah, he just,
I don't know, man, you can't fault a ball player for wanting to play. No. And by the way, it wasn't
affecting his play. He came back from World Baseball Classic and went four for seven in two more
games with the Brewers. Yeah, then yeah, I mean, it just, it could have been something that was more
of a nagging type situation. And then one swing or just an extra day of use could, it could turn
into something where, yeah, it's not bearable anymore. Yeah. Well, let's wish him well. Hopefully,
we see him certainly before the end of April. They say two to four weeks. So let's, let's get
it closer to the two instead of me yesterday. They did not. They're going to though. All right,
it's time right now to preview tonight's games. It's presented by Friday night baseball on Apple TV.
They've got a pair of games. One that starts a little bit after eight o'clock Eastern, the Angels.
They won the season opener against the Astros and look who's trying to return to form.
There goes. That's right. Mike Trout, a home run. He walked three times. He stole a base. He was
playing center field. He said it was great to, he said, I feel like the old Mike Trout,
how confident are you that maybe if he can't get back to the three time MVP form, can he get back
to the point where we're talking about Trout, maybe being an all star or something like that?
I'm never going to doubt a guy with Mike Trout's talent, man. That swing is so, so beautiful.
And the sound, you talk about ball sound and different off of guys bats. That's one guy.
It sounds completely different. Yeah, I'm confident in him. It just, he has to be healthy. His body has
to feel good because he has all the tools in the world still. I mean, I just said that swing is
is beautiful. Like he just, he has it all, man. That was really cool to see. And then did you see
our, we had a live stream. Everyone reacted to that. We put it out on our socials and he responded
to it. The go. That's great. Good. Good. Well, I'll see him out at Angels ballpark next week.
You know me, I've been a huge trout fan. I also have wondered whether or not it feels like
it's over. And I actually talked to, so I went to the, I guess I went to Dodger Stadium for the
Angels Dodgers exhibition on Monday. And so I talked to somebody who watches them every day.
They said that Mike Trout's like the fifth best player in their every day lineup. I said,
are you come on, man? I know he's maybe he's not what he was, but is he falling that far? It's not like,
let's not mistake in the Angels for the Dodgers lineup for, right? Like it's
still kind of, I'm not going to tell you who said it, but it's somebody who watches them every day.
Okay. And I was like, come on. He hasn't fallen that far. He said he just looks old.
And I said, come on. Now, I will say this. He was never like a 50 steals guy. But early in his
career, well, first of all, you couldn't throw him out on an infield hit. He was so damn fast.
And you knew that having to try to make plays on him, right? Like there weren't, there weren't
right handed hitters that could get down the line the way he could, right? Yeah. And the way he ran
to, he looked fast. Some of these guys don't look fast because it's like so smooth. I don't know.
Like everything he does, like it, it's like a bullet. And I know that there's a difference between
being fast and being a good base runner. You can be a good base runner without being,
but my point is is that yeah, he's got to utilize his legs. If he has any juice left,
he stole two bases last year. He hasn't stolen double digit bags since 2019. And it's never
been easier to steal bags because of the new rules. So particularly with that offense,
go try and manufacture something. I'd love to see that get back in the traffic.
I mean, I would love to see it. But if you're asking me what I'd rather him steal bases or feel good,
like at the plate and defense, like those are two different things. It's weird though because
the twins try to do this with Byron Bucston, but they're like, don't run. You know, like you have
to save your body. And I think sometimes that puts you in a mentality where you're always
in save my body mode. And then so your body acts a little bit differently. You're trying to like,
you're trying to push pump the brakes too much. And you lose some of that like explosiveness.
Last year, they let him let that Byron just save you. They said, just do what you got to do,
man. And it's the best he's looked in a long time. So maybe you're right. Maybe hey,
might go steal some bags and just be your like feel like the kid again. Yeah. Well, what are we waiting
for? I mean, I'm sorry. What are we trying to save him for the playoff run? Just go be whatever you
are. Be the best you can be for as long as you can be. But let's play full throttle. And
the fact you walked three times yesterday to me was huge. One other interesting thing to keep
your eye on, the Yordon Alvarez foul ball. That's crazy. Why is that not a home run? I don't know.
They said it's never happened before that if they don't know. That's what the broadcast says.
We've never seen that happen before. Yeah, but every ballpark has special ground rules. So
it's going to be different than the one at the top. But I mean, that thing was. That thing
was going to go 30 feet past the fence. I don't know if every part does like do the mariners when
they put the roof on like has anybody ever hit that roof? Like I feel like they just thought it was
out of play. Like the drop is way different because it's like a ring right in the middle that's
low. Like this is like legit. The roof. That was crazy, dude. And yes, it would have been a home
on your dance. Gotta be like, what the heck, dude? Yeah, they ended up getting blanked.
Shout out at home on opening day by Soriano and the halos. That is a crazy, crazy shot. Dude,
the Texans are going to hire you here. But yeah, if you get a chance, go check the highlight
out on your phone, your computer, whatever. You can really zoom in. Yeah, that's crazy.
Texans are going to hire him as a punter. I do believe. All right. So that's the early game.
The late game is going to be my guardians, my plucky little guardians who come off a six,
four win in Seattle chased the louder first regular season at bat. He goes deep
against Logan Gilbert. And later in the game, he goes deep again. So multiple homers in his first
ever regular season game. Now you're like, well, hold on, the louder played last October. I get it.
I saw him drop a ball in center field. Then I saw him get a base hit. He is one of
he is one of a very small group of people that got a playoff hit before he got a regular season hit.
And what did I tell you the other day about him? He's got to be the second best player next
to J ramp for the guardians to do anything. This I'm sick of this song and dance for the guardians
in you, dude. This is going to be a good baseball team again. And if this guy is who we think he is.
We're all going to be looking stupid at the end of the year for putting the guardians third or
fourth in the division. So they've gone 15 straight years, I believe now with a different
opening day right fielder. It's not exactly the San Francisco left field string that was just
snapped at the other day, you know, where they had guys rotating through there for 19 consecutive
years, looking for Barry Bonz's replacement as the opening day starter out there. But it's close.
It's close. We've had some interesting names out there since the days of Shinshu Chiu,
whether that's Lonnie Chishon Hall. I think Brandon Geier got to start out there. But we've had
some really weird dudes like those were decent players. But the louder this team has had the
inability to develop everyday outfielders pretty much since, I mean, outside of Kwan, it's been
Michael Brantley and that's about it. You know, they've tried different guys and it has not
worked. They have spent plenty of first rounders on trying to get somebody, you know, Tyler Nakewin
was a guy that they gave a shot to and it looked like he was decent, but injuries and just some
inconsistencies derailed him. This is a dude that if you can keep him in bubble wrap and keep
him healthy and have him play 125 games is going to be a huge difference maker.
Can you imagine if it was Junior Cam and Arrow and just, you know, he didn't even play
third base. You could just move them out to the outfield or some.
Please don't do that. Who do they get for Tobias Myers is what I wonder because they trade
over Tobias Myers. They released him. He never pitched in the
game. Oh, they didn't even trade him. No, I think they let him go. Oh my god. I got to look
that up because that's that's insane. Yeah, it's not good. I want it right now.
The other big news for the Guardians that we're keeping our eye on is that they're starting
pitcher Tanner Bible last night left with shoulder issue. They're hoping it was just a change in the
weather where they went from 100 degrees to the chill of the Pacific Northwest and maybe that
made something flare up, inflammation wise, but it sounds like he's headed to the MRI machine.
I mean, don't do that to me.
It says Tobias Myers was purchased by the San Francisco Giants. I don't know what that means.
From the Guardians. Yeah, that sounds weird. I don't like that. I don't like that connotation at all.
Please, that game is at 930. So check out tonight's Friday night games on Apple TV.

All right, a bunch of other cool things happen around the world of baseball. Let's start with
some of the other young guys who had eye opening opening day performances, probably none better
than Kevin McGonagall, the number two prospect in all baseball, a four hit day as the Tigers took
it to the Padres 8 to 2 in San Diego. He jumped on the first pitch. He saw at the big league level
from Nick Pabeta, never looked back. Dude was impressive. His speed is awesome. The way he attacks
the baseball and he is not going to be hitting sixth in this lineup very long.
Now, I mean, this is, we talked about it from time to time. You know, you need guys to step up and
line up. We just talked about chase to lottery. You know, if McGonagall can be a middle of the
order bat, which is kind of a lot to put on a rookie, but, you know, he obviously showed out in
his first game. If you could be that just changes the, it changes the perception of the Tigers
in that lineup. I know they, they were okay last year, but you add another, you know, what we
can call at least an above average bat to it. It's, it's a game changer. And I wasn't not familiar
with the speed. I've seen a lot of his at bats and some highlights from spring training,
but the speed I didn't know he had. So shout out, sir. As impressive as the infield single was,
where he was scooting down the line, I thought his second double where he hit it off the wall.
And Tatis got over there. Great. You are testing a two-time platinum award winner. And one of the
guys who's got a great, accurate, powerful arm. He was like, screw it. I'm going. And he made it.
That's some good stuff. I know the Tigers are super excited about him. So we just talked about two
of the rising stars. It feels like they're in the American League Central. There was more J.J.
Weatherhold. He had his first show, Homer, as the Cardinals came all the way back. Of course,
there was a huge Alec Burleson home run, great reaction. It kept an eight runs seventh as they
came back and they topped the race. Which one of those moments was cooler? Was it the rookie or the
veteran with the home runs swing? Cooler probably this moment. Burleson, I love the side angle
here. Love how pumped up he is. But also, Weatherhold, how do you hit that ball? Which is, I don't know,
four or five inches off the plate away. And still you get the barrel to it and go dead center.
That's real deal pop right there. That's real deal plate coverage. That gets excited.
Yeah, you know, I thought it was great. It was just one problem. I know that a lot of these
TV trucks, and this is going to take you a little bit inside the world of TV, didn't do a ton of
spring training games. When you have a prize prospect like that, it is incumbent on your production
team to talk to the PR people and find out where the family is located. They never showed the
Weatherhold family as the kid is rounding the basis. And I know mom, whether they showed her after
what's that? You love that. That's like, yeah, but like when Chase the Louder hit his home runs,
they were showing his family. Like the first one just got over the wall. They thought maybe Luke
really got so the dad sitting there, they're like, did he catch it? Then they have the reaction.
That's what you want to see. It's it's a special moment. We all want to be a part of it.
Like that's the fun stuff. So I know, I know I'm kind of calling out some people, but we kind of
you get up. Like you can only have JJ Weatherhold's first home run one time. We don't get there's no
dress rehearsal on that. Get one shot at it. It's fine. They must not have had the shot at all
for us. They would have shown it. I was thinking maybe today they'll go back and put it out there
on socials, but they would have shown it at the end. Yeah, I never saw it. Now, I'm going to take
everything back and I will apologize if they had the shot, but I was watching it at the time,
and I never saw it. So where is it? Where's the shot of that? I'll hand up. I didn't watch that
game. It's okay. Nothing wrong with that. Carson Benj. Another top prospect in baseball. What a
Metz debut. He had the home run. He had a stolen base. He's the seventh player to hit a home run
in his Metz debut, but only Kazmatz. Sully also did it during a debut on opening day. Like
how important is his performance to the lineup? It just lengthens it. This is a team that has
very lofty aspirations, and we talk about teams that the ones that can have a good 162 and then
go for the players, the teams that have that length in the lineup. So obviously, he provides that
for them. That's a great swing right there. Yeah, it was great. And I also loved seeing him hang
out with his family on the field afterward. Somebody had a dog. So Carson Benj, his family,
won me over. The dog was, look at this. What's going on with that? What? You can just bring dogs
to the field. I thought I had to be like barking the park night. I don't know. Maybe it's a service
dog. Okay. I mean, I don't know. I don't know for dogs. I'm in. Goldeners are the cutest looking
dogs. There are service dog. Oh, maybe it is a service dog. It's got kind of something on it.
I mean, what's he serving right now? Like he usually service dogs are like buttoned up.
Dog is that time of his life. If you're audio only this dog is going nuts on its back,
Benj is rubbing his belly. That might be one of those. I mean, it's life service dogs.
Come on, man. If you can't enjoy, screw you if you can't enjoy that clip. I'm enjoying it.
What are you talking about? You're such a, you're the only dog owner that's also a dog hater.
I don't hate dogs. First of all, I love dogs. Okay. Dogs love me. I grew up as a pool man.
And you had to freaking get along with dogs, dude. I don't know if you know that,
but my past is riddled with dogs who I had to be friend or else they bark at you or bite you.
Okay. If you know, you know, my favorite part of the day is at the end of the day, our dog
Sydney is 14 years old. So she can't climb stairs anymore. I have to carry her up.
Josh carries her up usually and then I carry her down to start the day and we talk and I rubber
as you ready to have a great day. So Carson Bench, you keep bringing your dog to the ballpark.
Don't let this grump. I didn't say otherwise. I said, I didn't know dogs are just allowed at ball
parks. That's fine. Hey, a couple of other things with guys that open our eyes.
I'm going to talk about her. Kami hit a blast in Milwaukee for the Chicago White Sacks. We know he's
got massive pop coming over from Japan. It was nice to see him do his thing. Justin Crawford 21
years old getting to start for the Phillies. A couple of knocks. We saw he had 40 family members
and friends at the game including pops who laced it up and was pretty good player in the show as
well. So great day all around for all the young guys making an impression. Fun. Do you think we're
still going to be doing this show if Teddy makes it? Let's just call like call it 12 years.
Yeah. Yeah, we'll still be doing it. I mean, I'd love to do. I'll be long gone. I don't think
they'll have dead in 12 years. Don't say that because that's pop. Please don't put that out there.
You're not going to be. Don't put that out there. It's a youthful soul. Chris.
Is that what you both do? Two other quick things before we get out of here. Nico Horner,
reportedly a six year extension for nine figures. So Cubs have been busy as of late. Does it kind
of shock you that they were able to last so Horner and his walk here?
I mean, it's a great place to live and to play. So it doesn't really shock me.
What was the deal? Do we have the financials on it yet? No, we don't. Not as of the taping of
edition. Yeah. So like that's that. I mean, ask me after we get the financials of it.
Okay. You know, here's the interesting thing. The class of free age and second baseman next year.
Jazz, Glaber, Arise, India, Luxe, possibly, Jeff McNeil, if they don't pick up his 15 million
dollar plus option. So there's a lot of guys to be had. I think it's smart for Horner.
Even though he's still in his 20s, age 29 season and really kind of added a little bit more
pop to his offensive regimen here. Okay. I think it's good for both teams. And now the Cubs fans,
we talk about, you know, being able to buy the jerseys, keeping guys around. They've got their
nucleus tied down for a while. I say this all the time, man. Like teams think you can't
lock guys up. Well, they're going to test free agency. They're going to do all this. Put
put it in front of them. Right. No, this to be like, oh, shoot. All you have to do is sign this
paper. And I got X amount and guaranteed. I mean, people hate when I say this, but like,
it's kind of the main reason you do what you do is to set yourself up financially,
your family, everybody. I mean, it's like, if it's not the number one reason, it's damn close.
Anybody people hate to hear that, but it's the truth. There's
any baseball fan or sports fan that doesn't believe that you should look out for the well-being
of your family. Come on. That should be the number one. You love the game. Yes, you can love
it when you, I don't know. It's not mutually exclusive things. It's not like if you sign on the dotted
line that you don't want to do well and play well for the team that is paying you. Of course,
you want to do well. It's gotten such a bad, like, I don't know, like it's, it's, it's, it's,
it is a lot of money, but only a few guys get that. That's not fair. Okay.
Well, last thing, did you see Roman Anthony almost rip off South Stewart's arm?
Have you seen this? I did not see this. Danny. Oh, yeah, I did. I sent it to you. I sent it to
you last night. Yeah. Yeah. Dan sometimes, I send them these real late nights. So sometimes when
I send multiple emails to Dan, you think you just want to see email and email and then that's
enough, but he's got 10 seconds. He's got it. I've never seen so many clips in our email.
Yeah. Well, sorry. It was opening day. There was a lot of stuff to try and get in here. Anyway,
Anthony hit a bullet at South Stewart. He's playing first base. I didn't see this and the vid,
I mean, how he did not snap his wrist. Okay. Is beyond me. I thought you were talking about something
different. I saw this. Yeah. I mean, hit right off of his left arm and he thought it was broken.
So they went out and they checked him out. There's a lower angle and a different clip that I sent
that showed it, but that's all right. I cannot believe it. You ever taken one of those shots?
Yeah. Usually not on a top spinner like that. Usually it's the other way around like a low
line drive with backspin. You think it's going to skip, but doesn't. I mean, I guess that's kind of
what happened there too. Oh, he thought he was going to have to pick that ball instead of kind of
stayed up on him. Oh, that's horrible. Thank God he was okay. He was actually one of the few
reds who did anything offensively. That did just stud too. And Roman Anthony, we talked about it.
Hardest hit ball rate in baseball last year once he came up 60% back up. Any first baseman
back up. Play back. We're not holding the runner. Play. Just get right behind them. Short right field.
All right. Everybody enjoy your first baseball weekend. We've arrived safely for all those teams
that didn't play. They get going today. I know we got Royals, Braves, the Rockies, the Marlins,
and there's two other teams that have yet to play. I'm going to find them because I want to give
them a shout out. Hold on. Hold on. And oh, A's and Blue Jays. Great. Let's do it up. Enjoy your
weekend. We'll be back at it bright and early on Monday morning for our one of a kind producer,
Dan Rork, the Uber talented Trevor Ploof. I am Chris Rose. We will see you Monday here on
