Red Raiders Fall Short, Alabama Advances

On March 23rd, the Texas Tech Red Raiders saw their 2025-26 season end in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

The fifth-seated team fell hard to the fourth-seated Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 90-65 on Sunday.

Alabama controlled the game from the tip with their superior size and physical play.

The Red Raiders never cut the lead below 18 points and struggled to match the Tide's intensity on both ends of the court.

Head coach Grant McCaslin owned the defeat after the game.

He praised Alabama's aggression and said his squad simply wasn't prepared, adding that the Crimson Tide proved tougher overall.

Texas Tech entered the match up without their top player, forward JT Toppen, who missed the final month due to a torn ACL.

He underwent surgery recently and his availability for next season remains uncertain.

Injuries and late-season inconsistency plagued the Red Raiders, marking the second time in three years they failed to reach the tournament's second.
