Hello, I'm Cresy Detectives, welcome to the Lincoln Fort Files.
I'm Joy.
And I'm Larissa.
And we're here to report on all things comfy and cozy.
Hello, I'm Cresy.
La la la la la la la la la la la la.
I always needed but extra today.
Extra today, Lord knows.
OK, let's go right into fun things and updates.
I feel like I haven't so many, but they're all connected,
but they're all so random.
And I love it.
You go first.
You go first.
OK.
So I bought CDs, and I said,
You my little stack and I love them. I'm so excited. You've been listening to them. I have also it made me giggle so much because the
What is it called? They're good to go at your car. Oh, no, it worked fine
But it was so fun. No, I met your way you realized about your car
I have a sunroof. Oh, sorry, I'm trying to yell at you. I got so excited. I'm getting it's right
Joy editing just lower that
I'm so excited. I was like driving and I was like this will be so cool
I had a sunroof and I looked up and I was like
Way to manifest
I'm so glad you texted me you're like I have no idea and I'm like I'm so jealous of you right now
I also like detailed the car inside with like no, I'm like trying to make it cute and cozy
But the thing that made me giggle about the CDs is the
Britney Spears CD that I got like the first CD uh-huh
It had like melted like candle wax. So like homegirl was like I could actually just like
Thought it off and it was fine. Oh, that's good that it's so cool. Yeah, yeah, and the oh I tapped the mic now
I'm just all kinds of a hot mess today. I was just
Um and the macy gray CD
Pause or it skips at this one part and I'm so not used to hearing a CD skip that my brain keeps thinking I like clicked pause on the song
My gosh, that's my how it like rewires the thing
And is it is it the macy gray CD that
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, I don't know if I'm gonna get like that, but that and I also really like I forgot how much you just like listen through a CD
Like number six. I don't know what it is on the macy gray CD, but I love that song too
Like nearly as much as the other one. So yes, that was very fun. Oh, so fun. Oh, you got those all in a thrift store
Yeah, I
Realized this one thrift store in my area. I like wrote. It's like a local thrift store versus like a goodwill
They rotate days of what they have as a percentage off and one of the days is media
And I like went up to double check and I was like does this include CDs if she was like yes
Because I'm sure she's like why you even getting these, but they're a dollar a piece
That's awesome. I was like yes, that would be my day. I will go and hang out. I also have been very excited for my concerts
And so I started making like bracelets with all those are so cute. I made a little one. I'm gonna claim one because that's really cute. I
May have made you want me to show you
No, I'm gonna be surprised. I'm gonna be okay
You're exactly like this, but this one I made for myself too. Oh
So cute. I'm gonna sneeze code to take this hold on
I'll keep talking she can just mute this out and chew
But yeah, I started making stuff and then I was thinking I don't know if this is lame or not
But I was thinking like what's something that I could carry a lot of that I could trade a lot of without having to like wear a lot of you know
So I
Decided as of right now unless it's lame and the cozy detectives say boo hiss
I decided to make like little rings. Oh, I just thought it could I feel like nobody are betraying
So just like little beaded rings and I'm making them all different sizes and stuff and they're stretchy and you know
Just reminding me of did you do girl scouts? I don't know if we've talked about this. No, I never did
But I it's like right in my bend diagram to a yeah, so I did for a few years
So some lorissa lore I was really sad because all the girls in my troop when
Season just like didn't want to do it so I didn't have anyone else so I couldn't keep doing it because you have to have like
A troop and I didn't want to just like join a random one
Um, the reason I brought it up is at so they would have
They have these different girl scout events like in your area. So there's one where we all spent the night in this museum
Um, and how fun
You have typically like a bucket hat and you trade what they call swaps and it'd be little pins that you would
Attach to your head
So it was kind of like an OG
Friendship bracelet. Yeah, trading situation. So I like my mom it texted me about that a couple weeks ago
I think and then I meant to bring it up on here and ask if you did it and that you just reminded me with the ratings
so
I've I somehow have been to like I don't know what they're called a pinning or something like when people got their patches
But I was like and I had this like memory of sitting there watching them and I know it's not a dream because I like have too many details
You know what I'm saying?
But well, they have so they have the the triad patches which are like skills you get on the front and then there's badges for experiences that you get on the back
But then they also have pins you can get I think when you move up levels. So
There's like you start out. I think as a daisy. I mean, I was a brownie to look at a certain age and then you're up to like junior
And you work your way up the ranks
Okay, one random joy lore thing because you said brownie. Have you seen Medea goes to jail?
I haven't seen any of those movies. I've heard they're really funny though
So for your regard it's for gar i don't remember how I say her name. I can't say it right
And she is so funny. She is Medea's salesmate and one of the things she was like she makes her something when she first enters and she was
brownies for my brown
And I think that every time someone says the word brownie
Oh my gosh. She like it's so funny. There's so many funny lines from her
Okay, wait you say some update
Okay, then you're wrong. I'll I'll share the one that I was texting you about that I said I was going to wait to say
Okay, so
I
I'll just come out right and say I won't build to it
I recently found out via friend of the show miles
That there are eight seasons of repair shop for free on 2b. So I started watching it
My word obsessed. Thank you miles
To be that's
Yeah, there's ads and stuff, but you get to it's completely free
So yeah, I started watching it. Do you love it? Yes, it's so I
The first episode because I didn't realize it just uh
So they has one through eight and it randomly started me. I think I'm the first episode of season eight
So the one I watch is may even be one that you haven't seen yet because I think you said you're the first four
Yes, okay
So I yeah, I just got dropped into it, but it I mean it wasn't I don't feel like I was lost especially because I had your case file
Explaining things um, but it had the like the clock guy you really like
Oh, yeah, he was fixing one
Um, and then they did they had
um, this
Like bronze horse statue that this little girl she was older now, but she bought it with her first like paycheck ever for her dad
I was like
Yeah, she said it on the dad said it on their coffee table for like 30 years and it was broken into a bunch of pieces
and then there was
Rugby hat that was like 120 years and this just blew my mind
I think it it's so fascinating and I mean when you talked about this of the craftsmanship that goes into these repairs
But the guy and I don't remember his name, but he does the fabrics and stuff he had glasses
he
took
So it was this kind of purpley color of this velvet fat and so he the velvet is kind of fading
and patches and stuff
So to color match the Warren parts he blended up beats
strained out the juice and then with a fine little paintbrush painted beat juice onto this hat and then the color
So genius and I don't know I was just a mesmeral all time with how much detail like the clock I went
Spoke by spoke by spoke
Yeah, right to your parent and I was just like fascinated um
But I'm also doing a re-watch of shits correct now. So it's kind of like a alternating situation. I know
Catherine a hair miss you
Because that got moved back to HBO. So I was able to watch that
I see you have it as part of our
Internet
Oh nice
Once you hit any any episode that has the bear ladies in it, too
Oh, I know. I'm so excited for that
So the reason I was able to remember your what season to you are I dig go back and listen to
That episode we talked about it because it's been so long and
And it was literally before we even did videos like I think our fourth episode ever
But I went back and listen to it and I was laughing
Again because at the beginning we're talking about Lala land and you're trying to remember the name of
The observatory, which we had just had this conversation in a recent episode and you did the same like Guggenheim
Yeah
I was just laughing because of it. We literally had this conversation
No detectives you will know that I am not lying because I will still get a confused just the same
Oh, I was just laughing so hard. I was like wow we just have the lilies stations over and over again
I'm proud of you down though, which is
Do you remember the name of the conservatory the Griffiths, right? Yes. Good job. Look at me go. Look at me go. Look at me go
Someday like I'm so proud of you
What you're in the accepting
I did finish my second book
It is what was it?
Everybody always popped off. It was one of the Bob golf ones that I was reading
At the end he's like we're talking about something and it just got me
I'm just like sitting here like crying as it was
It was good. It was a good book, but it is what so my
Reason of bringing that up one because I finished a second book, but I'm proud of you in the timeline multiverse
It is technically still winter. So do I come that as a winter?
Yes, by the time this comes out
No, you can't do this winter because the goal isn't to finish
Yeah, you got two in winter. You're supposed to do two. You're still on track. Absolutely. Okay, because I was like
I remember you saying that I remember episode at this point, but and I was like wait
So which one do I count it as so I'm like okay? So I still have two books for spring, which is when this will be out
So I'll be a sprayer. And you can honestly if you wanted to
Kind of do it as a quarterly which is
I mean because technically this is the second day of March. So yeah, yeah, the episode clearly
Yeah
Okay, yeah, so I could do that too. I know my roots just like I'm not used to
Having like a book number goal for the year normally. It's like
I won't tell you what minus
No, I still look hey reading is reading any number of books that you read you are reading so valid
That's true. I'm doing it and actually for my spring one my next update
And then this is my last update
So I feel like I'm talking so much about my things. I know you're not I love I love hearing it
Please don't if you have more please tell more
I think I'm just I'm really wanting spring to feel very very fun and very lighthearted and very colorful and all these things
and
I have decided that is when I want to which is I think on my spring bucket list if I'm not mistaken
I feel like this is just once again joy
I mean, I couldn't look back at it. I'm sure it's on there because there's something about matcha
But I want to make the strawberry so I know the syrup was on there
But I have a plan. I have a full full laid out plan. I have a recipe that I'm going to use
I have matcha on the way because I am out
So I'm going to do iced matches
And then I do want to try to do like a cold foam type of vibe
Because I want to very much at e spring and so I can like read have my matcha like how vibesies
How fat what's it? How how fabulous is that? Thank you. Thank you there
You texted me that you had a new hobby
I just think it's to be eating. Oh, okay. Okay, I got it. I didn't know that
I didn't know the video film was it was on top of it because you with it you had talked about that in terms of
The concert so I didn't know if it was like
Yeah, that's my hobby. I'm just making sure you have a beating baby. I'm trying the thing is I was so cute
I like that. I know. I'm out. It's uh cojectives. It's
What do they call it? My pretty little daisies like you most yeah daisies are oh sunflowers
I think it's what their technically is supposed to be
They're very pretty, but yes, I'm having fun with it
Going to do some sticky things and also I kind of really want to be like so like one of the things in
Everybody always to also talking about like loving people and things like that
And I'd love to be the person that's wearing the bracelet and someone's like oh, it's cute
I'm like you're happy like I want to be her. I want to do that. I want to be fun. So I'm like
Yes, that sounds so fun
So yeah, just make people say a little bit brighter. So okay, what's your last one? I have one more
I texted you a little bit about this, but for the cozy detectives. So yesterday I went to a Pride and Prejudice
So pretty another throwback to a case file episode
um
They're all case well not technical case file so it's anyways a previous case file
Yeah, it was so fun. I've never been to this tea room before
But they do apparently a different theme tea every month. So
They just did Pride and Prejudice and I texted joy. I said you need to come here because
They're doing a hobbit theme coming up and then they're also what was the other one, but I thought you would
I don't remember now
Oh, it was um
Yes, okay, I knew there were both very you because they're also doing an Alice in Wonderland in a mid-summer night stream
So yes, it was super fun. It was very pretty inside
They had we were so full. They had a ton of food and the tea was very good
So nice super fun time very cozy obviously and I was like I'm ready for spring
You know that's what my question is like did you get like tea sandwiches? Was it tea like little thingies or yeah
We got like a bunch of different sandwiches. They had these um
I've never had anything like this before especially at a tea but they had these little
The crispy potato rounds with a little dollop of sour cream and two and little chives. That was super good
But yeah, we had a lot of sandwiches like the traditional cucumber. There was a roast beef one
And then we got two scones
We do a regular scone and then a seasonal scone so their seasonal one was this strawberry
With white chocolate. That was pretty good
Um, and then they had like a ton of desserts
We couldn't even finish all the food because we got so much of it. It was really good. Whoa
I'm already so fine. I want to go to the habit one. The habit one sounds so cool
If you come down, I'll take you
Well, fast you play. We'll see you all right. So we get into it. Yeah
So like how we have our little line. That's like our same thing. You know, it's either me or you
Shall we get into it?
That's the thing we need to start mixing up now because we always do the intro now we need to be like
Shall we get into it?
Today we are talking about a person, but then we have the case files
So of course, it is a Reese Witherspoon, which you can tell from the lead title
Um, but we have some background on Reese and then some fun facts and then case files
So do you want to go in some of your
Fun facts? I we did not plan this, but I'm very proud. We
Are releasing this episode the same week as her birthday and go us
Um, I texted Joy the other day when I was researching and I was like wow good on us
We never get it that planned it that well, but her birthday is March 22nd
She was born in New Orleans
Um, and I I wrote this fact down because I think it really led to her
Being such a force for women strong women in their stories
But her mom who was Betty Reese, so she took the stage name Reese because that was her mom's maiden name
Um, but Betty has a PhD in pediatric nursing and was actually a professor of nursing at Vanderbilt University
Wow, that's amazing. Yeah, and I think you know
Women getting PhDs at any point is incredible, but especially I think back then that was very not the norm
And so I think that's probably where Reese got her
Love of telling women stories for sure. Yeah, that is very cool
I know she talks about in a few interviews. I saw she was talking about
Also like empowering women with like the money side of things the dating side of things
I like that she like with the um the book club that she has now I feel like she's just like hitting all these different areas, which is so
I don't just well rounded. You know what I mean? It's just yeah
Looking at all the angles. We'll speaking of her book club. I'll jump to that
That started in 2017. So every month she picks out a book and I don't know if you knew this joy, but
That's where Daisy Jones and the sixth blew up because that was one of her picks and then her production company is the one who made it into the show
Oh, wow. Oh, it's just a production company, too
Oh, yeah, watch I can talk a little bit about that too
um
So it was founded
And 2012 originally called Pacific standard and now it's part of a wider umbrella called hello sunshine
And it's their goal really is to tell women stories because basically resourcing
She had a hard time getting directors and producers to pick up women stories and she's like fine. I'll do it myself
um
And the first two were and she does a lot of book adaptations, which I love um the first two that they did
We're both in 2014
One was gone girl. I don't know if you see oh wow
Yeah, and then the other one was wild which she has said that that's the film she's most proud of
I've read actually read the book twice. I did reread it for a challenge last year and then I've seen the movie one time
And I forgot that Laura Dern plays her mom in that and she's only nine years older than Reese's
So I thought that was kind of interesting and then they actually start together again
But they're friends and they're in the big little lie show that they both did
So I was just like I don't know if you've seen that one. I haven't but I need to I need to catch up on some research
I feel so behind on anything she's done after the early 2000s
Like I feel like she's almost like opra vibes with what she's doing
You know like the book club. Yeah, like the production company all of that. I feel like
Yeah, absolutely. That is very cool
Yeah, I feel like the
The fun facts that I have are basically through different interviews that she had so in one of the interviews she was talking about
um
Basically being a fantastic business owner and seller and she said the best piece of money advice that she ever got was
Don't get into dead or don't let anyone control you with money
And I feel like kind of what you're saying about like the empowering woman side of it
I feel like that specifically she was talking to
Women about in that empowerment of like money being a tool and I feel like she's used that tool very well
Um in regards to the things that she's poured her money and heart into
Um, it's so funny because my my brain every time I think of the wild I actually have not neither seen nor read it
But I just think of good more girls. Oh, yeah, of course
Hey, I know I'm trying to think if I I think I
I think I read it saw after a year in the life
um
It's it's a really interesting and it's a very cool story
Again, she I think reached read the book and really wanted to be able to share this amazing story
um
And so I definitely recommend it um
But also
Gone girl might be the more enticing read but I think they're both really enticing but gone girl is like have you read that one?
Is it even more that could be one? Yeah, that one
It may not feel as I think it's more intricate
But that one because of the success of Gone girl was the twist. Yeah, and I
I feel like thriller and mystery authors have been trying
To match that twist since that book came out and they have yet to be able to pull that off like
I have read one book where the twist really left me like
In the same way, but I
People have authors have just really been trying and failing sorry authors
I couldn't do it myself you're better than me
But they cannot be at that Gone girl level because I just like
Yeah, I remember watching it and just being like
In awe of what just happened. Mm-hmm. Do you feel like the book was able to give more intricate detail than the have you seen the movie as well?
Yeah, yeah, I've seen I actually read we were watched the movie um
In the fall I think that was on her fall watch list, but um, but you have the book because
It's all
For the first half like half it. Well, I don't want to say. Yeah, you're good. It's just it's kind of it changes
And that is what allows for yeah. Oh, that's so interesting. Okay. Yeah, I'll add which is gonna be so funny
I literally have the the Emily Henry one like Gone girl so intense
I that's literally my vibes of reading because I just I know there's some people that that could only read romance
Or they only read through and I just get bored with the same genre so I'm always vibing and bopping around and yeah, so
Um, I just have a couple of their little Reese tidbits
Mainly about her acting because that's obviously what she's most known for
So I didn't I knew she started young. I didn't really she started at 14 in the acting industry
Her first role was in 1991 and it was the man in the moon and then
Legally blonde in 2001, which we are not doing
Sorry, but day two that will be coming up
Um was kind of the turning point in her career because I when I was researching I was like what was it
Yeah, I was like what wasn't the first go. It was like 10 years after
But I was like what really like washed her to a list household name and it was that role
Which makes sense because she was just incredible. Oh, yeah
Was that the first time she had a leading role or am I making that up in my head right now?
I'm not sure. I didn't go into that much detail
But she did she does have an Oscar
And she got that the same year that my case file came out, which is kind of finished. They're very different vibes
But it was for walk the line and she played June and Carter cash
Hmm
I have no idea, but I've heard great. Have you seen that?
It's pretty good. Um, it's I don't know. I feel like and I mean Daisy Jones is the same way
So I can't really talk, but it's hard when you do any sort of
singer
Gets famous. Yeah, he has a love interest. He's battling with addiction. I'm like it's every story. It's a star is born
It's Daisy dry, you know, yeah, but also
I mean this one was real life, but again, it's it's a story that's been told a bunch of times
But I'll eat it up every time
I know we're also not doing cruel intentions, but that is that I do feel like that's another one in the 90s. Yeah, I forget that she's in friends
Yeah, really forgot that yeah, yeah, yeah, so good and all of that is before legally gone
Yeah, she had her um first daughter like right before she did friends too, I think wow that's amazing and her
Like she was 36 when she had
The most recent kid. I don't know how to say that right, but like
She had kids all the way up her youngest. Yeah, her youngest. There you go. There's there's your right
You got it you got it
Yeah, that's wild. All right, anything else you want to do about uh behind the scenes of her or do you want to get to your case file?
I think maybe do a little bit of my case file. I don't have too much by the scenes again because it was early 2000
But yeah, my case file is sweet home alabama
I love this movie. I have it on DVD and have I think it's one of my
The lockbuster ones maybe I'll have to double check
this actually um
I don't know if it was the very first, but this was one of the very first PG 13 movies ever
I think it was this grease
Grease is PG 13
Girl, have you not a movie? Have you rewatched it? Have you rewatched it like as an adult? Okay, I think that's like the
The millennial even just the music. This is the millennial classic experience where you watch you graces a kid
You're like oh, this is so fun vibes and then every song is so yeah, like do you know what this like you know the song like
Grease Lightning is about
It's not just the car. I didn't realize that until it's been time
Yeah, it's them like yeah using it like for girls. That's so funny
No, and my brain that again, that is exactly where you're just like it's like kids music nowadays stinks
And then you're just like singing whatever I don't want to get any of the songs because I'm sure they're all bad
You know
Yeah, yeah, that's so funny. I came out in
2002
But it's wild because I guess that she so the first
After that was set to play in this role
was
Charlize Theron, but she picked a different project and so it went back out on the look for
The character and Reese was cast the day legally blonde came out
Whoa, I guess and so it's like wow like what like a like a boom boom type of like a thing right?
So in a big day for her
That a huge day for her came out in 2002 and basically what it is is
The actors and it that's kind of a love triangle early 2000s again
So Reese with this book plays Melanie Patrick Dempsey plays Andrew and Josh
Gray's Anatomy her I that was one of my tidbits because I was like wow, I forget that that's pretty gray's Anatomy
Josh Lucas plays Jake and then I feel like
And it's only literally two roles, but Candace
Bergen I think size your name please Kate, which is Patrick Dempsey's mom
And I feel like in my brain she played that role all the time, but the only other place
I think she actually played that role is Miss congeniality when she's like the mom and then she's also like
Yes, she's like the main judge, right? Yeah, I thought I always thought that too. I was like oh, this is just like her type
And I'm like I think it's only two probably because I watched both of those movies a bunch of times
She's me rewatching over and over
But what it is is she
I'm gonna say I'm gonna say spoilers because you kind of have to it's part of the whole thing. Yeah, it's almost
It's definitely 20 plus if not yeah, yeah
So what it is is Melanie is in New York
She is about to get engaged and she does at the very beginning of the movie to Patrick Dempsey and Drew
The mom finds out and then becomes his whole thing and yeah, because she's what like a senator governor
She's in politics, right? Yeah, yeah, he she's setting him the his mom is basically setting him up to be like the next president
Like not like the next president, but like down the line for sure. Yeah, like this is his path to presidency
And then Melanie's like, okay, I gotta go for a second. I'll be right back. And so she has to go to
Alabama
Which is not actually Alabama apparently. Alabama is Georgia because that's where they filmed most of it
Oh, I was gonna say not Alabama. I was like, yes, that's the whole name
Yeah, cuz that's where she's from
So I was just like what do you mean not really?
I just didn't realize that most of it was from the Georgia and I'm like oh, yeah, I did it either
Again, like you thought into my brain. I'm like everything's something exactly where it's at
But yeah, so she has to go home and then we find out don't don't she is technically still married
to her first love
Jake which
Is Josh Lucas who was interviewed about because I guess there's been a few times where there's been offered a second like like what if we did
We have Malibu in the two or whatever
I will say I don't know if it's controversial take or not, but Josh Lucas
I'm gonna start with like the ending. I don't know. I'm starting follow me close detectives
Josh Lucas said you would love to know where the characters ended up
And spoiler at the end of this she picks him and he thinks that they're divorced again
Oh, yeah, I think so they I just
They don't communicate. I don't think they have anything in common. I mean don't get wrong
I love when they get back together at the end, but there's no way that's one of my favorite conversations
I've seen people talk about more recently. Do they make do they make it past the credits and oh
I started thinking about that with brown comms again, and I'm like, I don't feel like they would yeah, or like
Who is the better pick I have not
I'm gonna spoil it more recent movie now, too, I guess. Do you see I think it's called the materialist
When I don't think I will see it because I heard so many bad reviews. Oh, okay
I have not seen it either, but it gives similar vibes
If you get the just of this movie, I think you kind of get the just of that movie
And I think that was one of the things everybody was talking about is like why why wouldn't
Melanie pick
Andrew like why would she pick Jake and I guess so one of the things that happened in the movie is one
I will talk about the ending was a whole different ending one of the things that they cut out of the movie
I don't know if it was for time if it was just not showing well
I'm not sure but they have a lot more
Throwback scenes to their childhood where it gave more backstory to Melanie and Jake
And I think that that would help us as the audience and I guess it wouldn't because they didn't use it
But it's looking back at the movie
I feel like that would help me understand why she picked him over picking Andrew because in the movie
I do feel like at this point that her Dempsey was also one of those characters that just kept getting left like James
Marston always gets left and I'm like why
I think I think that's a good point of seeing them as kids
um
Plus because isn't it to kind of fanning plays her right she's yeah, she's been talented. It's so cute
Um, and I think they they do a fairly good job of you know
Talking about the past and kind of just saying like where things went wrong
But I don't feel like they truly and like a regret it's a wrong calm. I get it
But in a realistic sense. Yeah, I'm just like I don't think these two characters would really work
But uh, I don't are you going to talk about the one line that they say as kids and then when they get together
Oh, no, I don't have that written down go for I know
I just love that line where they're like so I can kiss you anytime. I won't
So
Why would you want to kiss me fault?
My one is and I think I might even get the line wrong because I didn't even have to rewatch it
Where she's like, yeah, baby, you know bar
Like I'm like, I love that one
Anytime I see like a kid in like a place where I'm like this don't be no sense for this kid
I was just on you have a baby
I'm part of bar um
It was a big turn in that scene later, but it's fine and she does make up for it later, but
Also one of the things that I was like oh like speaking of kind of classic romcoms the director was Andy Tennant who
Also
So he did sweet home alabama ever after hitched full-scaled
Like those are like the big ones as you know, I'm like, no, those are all yeah, I know like super super classics
But like classic enough like ever after
Yeah, I found that about my director too, but we'll get into it my turn
Yeah, I don't know him as a person, but I just looked at his history and I was like wow that that part is really cool
um
But okay, so I will talk about the ending now because oh
so
The original ending of the movie that they filmed so many times
That so it's raining at the end of the movie
Iconic and what we see is they go out to
The ocean which I also have some fun behind the scenes on like could like be really do that to
Oh my gosh, please I need to know because I'm like is this actually a thing
Yeah, I looked it up. I was like, I have to know that like that's like really enough
I was like my most exciting behind the scenes fact I found no, I'm very excited to
I'll say to stay tuned
On today's episode
But
So they go out to the sand and that's when they decide they kiss
Probably a happy ending so I can kiss you in a time. I won't
But
And then they go and they meet up with the family everybody's happy. They're all like in that tent kind of thing
Yeah, but the original ending
was
It like
Flashed
So like I think she goes out to the sand or something like that and then it flashes
I watched it so long ago. I got so mad about it. Oh, I feel like
Back to me because isn't it I think it's on the DVD. It's like that alternate ending
It it remind me because like it's coming back in like pieces
So it performed horribly with audiences. I would have pitched a fit if I was in the theater and this is how this end day
But he's carrying her in
And she's like lifeless. They're both yeah
snoked. He's walking in to where her family is and he basically says that she's dead
Yeah, okay, and then
Yeah, so what he's basically claiming is that and I can't remember what her like she changes her name when she moves to Newark
I can't remember what her fake name is but but he basically goes like
Fake name blah blah is dead and he's like long live Melanie, but like she's like lying dead
Like the basically pretend she's dead and then it's like oh no, she's now like
Back home ta-da. Yeah, and then everybody claps and then they're good to go and then they like all hang out and it
For obvious reasons performed horribly
I just I do feel really bad for Reese with her spoon though because in an interview
With my brains trying to remember what the oh, yeah, I think it's I think she Melanie is the same name, but I think she goes by
Carmichael in that's what it is today times where her real name is like smoother. Yeah, that's weird. That just came back
um
But Candice virgin who plays the
Is that what I was
Sorry, that was my phone. No, you're fine. My brain was like smoother. I don't know where and it was gone
um
It was something about like her
Oh, I lost it cozy detective. That's okay. If it comes back at a point even if it's my case, but please share
Tonight
But yes, so the original end date obviously tested horribly so they changed that
Yeah, I'm getting into
The actual could this happen?
So the lightning glass thing so Jake's whole business is based upon when they were kids and it's very cute
It's very romantic. She sees it and she's like wow, this is amazing
Well, lightning does hit sand and does create something
But that is blown glass hand blown glass. So it doesn't create a look like that
It kind of looks almost kind of like coral reef vibes
Okay, I always I don't know why I guess in my head. I didn't think
In the movie and this is just I guess Larissa brain and how it works. I always pictured
But he like picks up this the glass from the sand and then somehow like sculpts it into the things he sells but
I don't know if it does. I don't know if that's I didn't rewatch it
In my last part of my watch, but I mean they don't say that that was just like oh
I think this is how it would work because I was like I don't even know if that's right
Yeah, I guess in my brain what happened is it the he has all the poles out there the lightning hits the pole
Goes into the sand and then he like scoops it out and is like ta-da
That's what I guess I pictured him doing
Which
Cool though. So the shop that there was a lot of different shops that did it
But one of the names that I found was a shop in the Windsor area of Vermont
It is called Simon Pierce
And if it is still there that is one of the shops that made the hand blown glass
looking
Items so if you're wondering on that's basically I'm not like basically from the movie, but similar you could go there
Something very surprise so expensive. Oh, I know
But I just thought it was cool that I guess lightning actually does do
Like a stretch. Yeah, because I guess you guys like very
Petrifies the sand kind of it looked like that's why kind of looks kind of coral reefy because it's got that like texture of it
Um, yeah, but also one other thing is back to the the love triangle of it all
I
Also think this would have helped in
The audience being like oh, okay, obviously she's gonna pick Jake is originally in one of the earlier cuts Patrick Dempsey's character
Was a lot and I don't know if this is something where they
Cut it and then it didn't play well or they the thing I know that they did do is they recut it to make it feel more like
Okay, who's she gonna go with because it felt more like even ground
Yeah, one of the early cuts. He was a lot more arrogant
And kind of like I was kind of old
Yeah, I was gonna ask that yeah, it was like he's usually when you have some sort of
I guess I'm thinking of like his other role kind of similar to this in made of honor, but he
The girl I feel like even yeah, they just make it either with their polar opposites or he's more you find out
He's kind of a jerk or a bad guy, but I was like
Yeah, he's a really good guy and like don't be wrong
I think Melanie and Jake have incredible chemistry and they obviously have a past, but I'm like
I tried to do anything wrong. Yeah, also you said yes to marrying this like one wild thing when you are still married to
But to it's like you did say yes to marry this guy you had this whole like clearly life thought plan moving forward and so
Yeah, you go home and all that changes, but
Yeah, I
I don't know what I think about that recut because it does make it more like well
They won't they of it all, but I think right again
I just I just always feel bad for the person like the James Marzen of it that just kept getting left and stuff
Yeah, I find it cozy a lot of the times because in nostalgia, I do think it's a calm so the comedy parts of it are funny
Um, I feel like they do a pretty good job balancing out like some of the humor of the south, but not like
I don't feel like they make them a caricature of the south
So there's been was asked in it. I was on the view. She was asked like what's something of the south that you think of when you think of the self
And she said monogrammed things and I'm like girl. Yes, 100% that's exactly
Like I already put something out everything. I don't know if you just don't want them to steal it or that's like yes, right
Okay, sorry, sorry, you're good. All right, my case while is just like heaven
And I did at first I was like I don't need to rewatch it, but I we had some time last night so we did rewatch it
And I will have you seen this one? Yeah, it was a while ago
Okay, so I'll do a quick like synopsis for anyone who hasn't seen it. It's so it's a very
Hogi there's like magical realism. It's kind of a silly premise, but I still eat it up
So this one came out in 2005. It also stars Mark Ruffalo
And it was written by Peter Tolin and Leslie Dixon and the director is
Mark Waters and he also did freaky friday and mean girls
Yeah, so yeah, you were kind of mentioning like oh, I didn't realize they he did these other classics and I was like
I don't know my director did these either so I was kind of cold to learn
And then I didn't know this, but it's based on a French book called if only it were true
And I watched a clip from the premiere and re said
That she was moving when she signed onto the movie and was unpacking a box and that book was in that box
And she thought hmm, this would make a really good movie and then lo and behold
Wow, that's crazy
Right such a good little story
And it kind of yours too of just like the timing of when she signed on man this girl has some good luck
She's just going with it. Yeah. Yeah
So the premise of the movie a Reese's character her name is Elizabeth
And she is a doctor in San Francisco and basically her job is her entire life like they always kind of make these some snide side
Comments of oh, she's not married. She doesn't have kids her whole all she knows is this job
And so she ends up in a bad car accident which lands her in a coma
Meanwhile, so that happens and then we cut to David, which is Mark Ruffalo's character his wife
died a few years ago and we find out this is just a side
Fun fact
His wife is her name is Laura, which is Reese's real name
So I don't know if that was intentional or just like
That's what my name is Laura Reese
No, because race is her maiden name
So
She was born I don't remember her full name
But she picked Reese out because it was her mom's maiden name and then but her birth name is Laura
Whoa, wow. Yeah, so I don't know if it was an intentional to make David's wife's
Name
That or if it just happened to be a coincidence, but I just thought it was kind of a cool thing. So
He ends up subletting
Elizabeth's apartment while she's in the coma
but she
Kind of quote quote as a ghost appear in being apartment
But only he can see her
And so she doesn't really remember anything about her life and jackal never what talking about this is kind of a plot hole because
She remembers very specific details of the apartment, but
She doesn't even remember her name at one point
Yeah, so I just in jackal was like well, maybe she has to see it because later on she remembers things when she sees it
And I was like maybe that's why she can remember the apartment
So he thinks he's kind of losing his mind or he seeing some sort of ghost and she thinks he's a squatter in her apartment
And but eventually they kind of come together to figure out who she is what happened because again, he's the only one who can see her
And so they go to this restaurant and a man collapses and she coaches him through how to save his life
And so she's like oh, I'm a doctor and they go to the nearest hospital
And so that's where they find out she's a doctor
And that's where she's being kept on life support and so they tell David
She's got a DNR and they're trying to basically convince Elizabeth's sister to take her off life support
And so then Elizabeth and David are now trying to figure out how to get Elizabeth's like spirit back into her body essentially
So I won't spoil the ending
But it is kind of very it's like a hokey premise in general
But speaking of Elizabeth's sister so in the movie her character's name is Abby
And she is played by Dina Dina spyby waters who is the director's wife
Oh
Yeah, it's just like we're using those little connections. I see my skin
And then mark waters the director grew actually grew up in San Francisco
So in an interview he was talking about that he was
excited to kind of include places in the movie where he consider kind of these old stopping grounds
But so one of the things with the apartment that they're kind of sharing is this roof top
I guess just like rooftop area and
David is this landscape architect and he turns it into this gorgeous
Um garden and sign up kind of why we picked at least for me why I wanted to do this theme in this movie is because we're in spring and it's literally peak goals of spring
But there's
Since it's in San Francisco, there's a view of the bridge
But all of the
scenes on the roof of the skyline are all CGI
Oh, I know
I know well it makes sense so because it's such unpredictable weather
Which the fog they have a couple of scenes of showing with like San Francisco frog
And they did that like I guess artistically as this like heavenly motif since she's like
In between
These the this life in the afterlife. So they're like hmm. We will use this fall
To be simple so
That's bad
Yeah, and then another little thing with
Um San Francisco. So obviously they have the cable cars. It's like what they're known for
So apparently
They were
Going to have just like a prop cable car go through and this one scene
But it broke down, but mark waters was like that's okay. We'll just wait for a real one
So there's this scene where mark ruffalo is very adamantly crossing the street and he's with his realtor and she's in these heels
And so they're crossing the street and this real life cable car is just like
I come in and this realtor is like in her heels and that was like a real thing
I'm like dude
It doesn't build anything to the scene
You didn't need to have for risk her life with this cable car. Oh
My word
Does it increase the budget save a lady, you know, right? Like just it's okay
We get it in San Francisco. You don't have to have the cable car
But despite that
Everyone did say that mark waters was really great to work with they said he's like very precise
But that he kind of let the actors play around with
The dialogue and then on the flip side he said that he really enjoyed working with Reese because she has a great wit
And that's kind of like why she can shine really well in romp guns
Um
And Reese said that one of the reasons she took the role was because she thought I'm gonna try to explain this
but basically because
In a lot of the scenes
She is sort of interacting at least through David with people who can't see her
So we can see her as the audience, but the the person she's
Acting it alongside or against can't see her so she just thought that would be really cool to be like
I want to place someone who can hear what people are saying behind your back and not know that you're actually big
It's like the good uh Courtney's love or whatever that TV show was
Like she could always see things, but they nobody else could see it and yeah, yeah, I'm safe live
um and then
So kind of going off of that
They had
Mark Ruffalo where at earpiece
So basically Reese would be elsewhere kind of feeding
Her lines for him to react to because there's some scenes where we see Reese and then there's other scenes where it's
She's not there, but he can still see her
Um and then I just thought that's a spun in an interview
They asked him was that like hard for him to do and he said no, I did that a lot as a kid
Oh
I thought I had a friend for exactly um and then not to bring down the mood
He's fine now, but I didn't know this he had a brain tumor in 2002
Really yeah, so I mean he's fully recovered by yeah, I didn't know that and so I think
That was kind of a part of the reason just of like the subject or of this movie and then a lot of people
Didn't think he could be funny or do comedy or kind of be a leading man
So he took this role on to kind of prove them wrong
Even though 13 going on 30 came out the year before so literally yeah
Clearly he can be a leading man
Yeah
And Jacqueline was saying yeah, we need Mark Ruffalo to do another romcom
And I'm like well people need to start saying he can't be funny and then he'll do
Yeah, um
Yeah, and this oh he's so good in this too
He he does a lot of physical comedy like there's a scene
I don't want to spoil it, but there's a scene where they're visiting
Elizabeth's sister and they have this like little kid's play set that the daughters are sitting at
And so he's sitting there and at one point he kind of like falls over and I know he's just so he's so good
Yeah, exactly. Oh, I'm glad you mentioned the timey because that was some what people were pointing out in kind of this like
Making of montage
But the way he delivers a lot of his comedic lines is really good timing
But kind of this deadpan quality that just makes the jokes land really well
Um, so yes, I'm glad you brought that up and
I was kind of debating on whether I was going to bring this up, but I'm feeling fun tonight. So I'm going to
I found I don't remember the name to be able to credit them like I did last time, but I found this reddit red
Okay, so
Joy, do you remember because basically when they're trying to get through to Elizabeth's sister
He's like give me some dirt on her and so the whole thing is she made out with her best friend
JJ right before her wedding
Oh, I think I've always seen this when we maybe once so I don't okay
So she tells him that re or yeah breeze tells David
Oh my sister made out with her ex-boyfriend right before her wedding and then it's spoiler
It's later revealed that that's also David's best friend and so
That actor has red hair and the
One of the daughters of the sister Abby also has red hair
Neither the parents have red hair
So the theory is that that's actually their kid that they
Yeah, and then there's also a line
Where JJ is like there's gonna be it. There's gonna come a day where I'm gonna need help moving a body
And I don't want to hear it from you and so the theory is like he's gonna like to seek his revenge
And I was like I'm living for this like secret plot that like
Was intentional for people to figure out or they cut stuff out of it or it's just happened
Stance but the reddit sleuths figured it out and so watching it last night like we were totally buying it
We're like yes, this is happening. This is
Yeah, so any because it's effective if you've had that club before you're not alone
Reddit is on your side. Yeah, so
But yeah, those are my fun facts. Why I find it cozy
obviously the roof top garden also I
Wanted to rewatch it last night is also to check on this you need a rewatch it joy because the apartment is such good early
2000s interiors like oh, it's so good. I kind of thinking of you the whole time. I was like you need a watch. Just put it inspiration
I'm going on 13 going on 30 for stuff like that. Yeah, you know
And also in that coming up soon. No, we're doing we're doing I know I thought of another thing
Why didn't I pick I also love Penelope we need to do something
So good. We'll pop the plan um and then the last little cozy bit
I have I really think they have good chemistry again. Why I'm just floored that people think Mark Ruffalo
Campio leading man because he has incredible chemistry with Jennifer in 13. I was going on 30 and in this and I'm just like give
This man more romance, please. Yeah, I feel like it is that
Can you make timing like in the good way like a little quirky and like not socially awkward by any means but just like he kind of like
I don't know like a different vibe to it than a lot of
And I love it, but I feel like that's the rom-com vibe that you like want in a lady man. Yeah
I mean like you got different ones, but like that is definitely one of them
Yeah, and he's like kind of grumpy in this but like not to a point where it's unlike a book obviously
He's still breathing his wife and so he's just I know it's just like a very realistic. Oh
One other thing that I was
I was gonna include or not so
There he's a side character, but it's of the actor who played Napoleon Dynamite John Header
And I completely forgot about this until I was doing research for this
There was his big rumor and again sometimes when that we had celebrity rumors back then like before TikTok and stuff
I'm like how did this spread
But there was this rumor that he died after Napoleon Dynamite and this was like
basically the movie that like revealed he was still
So fun and a movie basically like ghosty vibes
He's the one who's like I can see the ghost
Wait, another or another
Well, this one that's not confirmed, but I'll confirm thing. Did you see the arm?
Whatever it's called the thingy wait Hillary deaf was on it and she was like I think I did
Call her daddy. Thank you
I was like it's not cold I was gonna say it um
Which was like I think I did crash the thing and then they were like oh the premiere. Yeah
All right
Kido Kido first you want me to
I'll go first because I'm gonna swap mine because I wrote down my bracelets
But I got too excited and I talked about them earlier
But the other thing that I really did do
To make my life cosier is and I don't know close objectives. Don't judge
But I deep cleaned my car because again, I want to add the fun things and the views and the like I want to add a
Maybe I can't decide if it's gonna be like more cozy or I'm gonna be like no, I want to see this guy of like one of the stained glass
Sunroof things that I've seen
But before I do all that I'm sorry
I'm ready
But before I do all that I want to have like a clean slate in the car
So I did like a really intense steep cleaning
And I just I got in it excited to take something to post office and I was like
Like I had like my CDs everything was like dusted and it's not like I don't know
I'm not a grossy person, but I just don't know the like to detail the car
I feel like it's something that you have like specifically especially like I pulled out that vacuum like I was going for it
Um
So I feel like that will make my life cozier and so absolutely another thing I did this week
And then I feel like I'm gonna end up talking about car things for like a hot second
So if next week I'm with something else new for my car. I will let you know
I beat it something and I hung it from the review. Oh
I was just thinking about that when we were talking about um the sunroof in my first car and all of that
And I had for the longest time like a pink
Lay hanging from my mirror and I'm like oh
I can't do that now because I feel like it would just bother me
But oh it was such a vibe back then
And then when you were senior and you got the little graduation tassel to do hang your
I was like one of those like don't mess up the beanie baby tag
Like you know, I mean so I was like I can't mess up the tassel so I like
And look again, where is that tassel at this point?
But in my brain I was like I got put it in this box in this thing so I'll keep it forever
I know I got well now I have my masters or grandma. Maybe I'll hold my master's past
I'll but you'll it
Okay next thing I'm kind of scared of the I can't jump down to me rabbit holes
But I feel like zip it down something where you get like the little brine stones and you like
Like glue on yeah, yeah, yeah, I feel that in my future at some point too
But I'll show you in cozy tech tips you will be able to hear this because there's so many paid listen
See okay, I think I talked about this on
The pod, but I went to a little book the dazzling workshop and I didn't finish it and I I have a friend
She has our book club and she like does a ton and every time she posts on them like I need to do that
So that's the inspiration for me to finish my book. So thank you. I need to do that. Yeah, I love that
That was a good two percent. Yeah, oh that yes, that wasn't mine for today. I can do mine
Yeah, yes for the past. Yeah, yes, yes, yes. So I feel like we do this maybe like once a year and they always tend to come up naturally
so
But this time we had a friend join us and we had a little nostalgia night on last Friday
And it was kind of cute the way that it came about. So my friend who we invited she because we already kind of made plans to just hang out that night
But she posted on a subs deck about how she was craving
the
after macaroni and cheese.
And so I was like, oh my gosh, we need to have that.
And so we made it a whole thing.
We had the craft macaroni.
For me and Jacqueline growing up,
our kind of little staple, like quickness, little meal
that we had a lot of the time as kids.
We, she would have like chicken nuggets,
and I would have tequitos,
and then we'd have carrot sticks and cucumbers and ranch.
So we had that as well.
And then we did ice cream sandwiches for dessert.
And I haven't had one in decades,
but we got Capri-sign, and it was so good and fun.
It was pretty much perfect.
Strawberry, kiwi.
Oh, classic, clarinet.
Yeah, so that was really fun.
That little throwback and like sticking the straw
in the pouch and everything.
And then we watched the Lizzie McQuire movie.
Love, I need to start watching all this.
I've never seen razor voice.
Never.
Okay, that one's super sad.
I've only seen it like once or twice,
because it's, oh my gosh.
Yes, it's one of the saddest.
I've never ever seen the meaning about her singing.
Yeah, I guess this happens very early on,
and I will like trigger warning you.
Yeah.
Her brother dies in a car accidently
at the beginning of the movie.
So it's really about her dealing with the group of them.
Yeah, so, it's so interesting.
Like what little joy would or wouldn't pick as a kid?
And it's like, I bet what it was,
is someone was like, it's sad.
I was like, no, no.
Yeah, I really have only seen it a couple of times
because of that.
Okay, that's good to know.
But I do have a cozy detective 2%.
We got this DM that I thought was really sweet and cute.
So in our most recent episode,
was where I talked about how you and I were,
are my 2% were like listening?
Yeah.
That's what she said.
Love your 2% from last week
when you listen to old episodes.
Yes, that is what it's like to be a cozy detective.
And I'll slow you on them.
And then also added, I say this as a GG fan
who falls asleep to go, my girls, every night,
run, don't walk to PBS for all creatures,
great and small, which was someone else's percent.
It is totally the cozy show ever.
So, I love that.
That's it.
I have a YouTube comment.
I can share.
Please do.
On our Winter Musicals episode,
Laura Melissa said, love this episode.
Just saw a fan tip on Broadway last month
for the first time since I was a kid.
So, so incredible.
Love it.
So good.
Love it.
I know.
Good.
With the chandelier actually coming down
and everything, it's so, it's honest.
All right.

Oh, that's the same.
Yeah, that's the first one.
Maybe that's what you thought of the nostalgia.
Like it was the most interesting or neat, I think.
So, yeah, that's the point.
I love it.
