Reform UK Candidate Quits After Nazi Salute Photo

On March 27, a reform UK candidate in Wales has stepped down from the upcoming Parliament

election after a photo-surface that appeared to show him.

Doing a Nazi salute, Corey Edwards was named the party's lead hopeful for the Penny

Bont-Brow Morgan-Ughay area just this past Wednesday.

If reform won there, he would have secured a seat without question.

Earlier this week, party leader Nigel Farage defended Edwards despite admitting the image

looked bad and wasn't something he'd endorse.

Farage chose not to remove him from the ticket at first.

Edwards had a background as a special adviser to former conservative Welsh secretary, David

T.C. Davies.

The photos sparked quick backlash online and in the media.

Edwards tried to explain in a way by saying he was mimicking the sitcom character Basil

Falty and footballer Wayne Hennessey who faced the similar, accusation back in 2019 but was

cleared.

By Friday, a party spokesman announced Edwards was quitting, blaming issues with his mental

health.

They expressed hopes for his recovery and asked for privacy during this tough time.

This quick exit comes right before the Welsh vote, leaving reform scrambling to replace

their top pick in that key district.
