The Arizona Cardinals are the betting favorites to land Ty Simpson in the 2026 NFL draft,
but how hard should they push for the Bama quarterback, Johnny Venerable?
Third overall? No, I'm just kidding. We react to Daniel Jeremiah's mock draft,
plus what was Malik Willis thinking? Pitch and X Cardinals starts now.
Hey, hey, welcome in.
Hey, presented by our friends, our dear friends. It's circle K. It's the pH and X Cardinals
podcast who are premier at number one in the world. Arizona Cardinal podcast.
I got some scribe. Leave us a five star wherever you get your program.
I mean, I'm Johnny Venerable. He is Bob Rock, studio K. No man behind the Mac.
I'm just now realizing that Friday's Wi-Fi Snafu was blamed on me.
You went all like, well, it was my coast and his Wi-Fi in studio, shame.
No shame on you. Shame on you somehow, but we've moved on.
Let's not cry over spilt milk. What's up, chef?
Subject, Bert Marble. I see you lighting up with lives, HGLs, dubs, and a wild cat's emoji.
Well, we've got Oscar dropping the fire emoji snacks.
Hey, zoos, tea, boys, see some lives. Voss Lui, Terrence's tidbits, loves the hat, Alberto,
Jacob Steven Jackson, Austin Ryan, Oscar J. High, 77 Far North,
A. Z. Moses, the entire gang. It feels like is here and ready to talk about this team and
it's pursuit potentially quarterback of the future. Maybe quarterback that maybe should have been
in the cards a couple of weeks ago, but it's not. Did he make a grave mistake? I think so.
All of it's going down today. Hit that like as Johnny asked as well. Subscribe.
A lot of hurtful comments to start the show today. Did Johnny forget his booster seat?
Johnny, Wi-Fi, I can help again. How dare you? Some clickbait in the air? No, we don't do that here.
We do rage bait. I'm ready to clickbait. I guess the Thai Simpson being the Betty nods
to go to the Arizona Cardinals is clickbait. I like this. Rudy, hold the line for Thai Simpson.
Ooh, that's a big stream for me. Know what you got?
I did make the thumbnail today. I made sure that Manny Austin for it was smiling really big.
I was like, this makes some people mad. That was kind of intentional on my part.
People are being baited by the size of Manny Austin Ford's smile.
I like just the simple try for Thai. Just try. You haven't tried all of season in a quarterback.
Just try to do something. Try to care. Here's where I'm at. This franchise right now has to be
thinking a couple of different things. Let's first start off because I don't think we can have
a conversation about Thai Simpson without turning the clocks back eight days. Malik will
us sign with the Miami Dolphins. And people are like, what are they doing? What's their timeline?
I love Malik there. Hooray. Jeff Haffley knows better than anybody.
And then they proceeded to trade their only weapon on offense in the passing game,
Jalen Waddle to the Denver Broncos, which by the way, I like that trade for them.
I think Broncos overpaid. Sorry. The NBR. I do. I don't think Jalen Waddle is any good.
So they overpaid for Jalen Waddle. And now Malik will sustain in there. Like Will Smith
in Fresh Prince meme. They have no players in the passing game. And people are like, what?
The Dolphins are tanking and Willis will fail. Duh. That's what we said. We said that this would happen
that people would jump to conclusions. I guarantee you. And this is not me coping. I promise you.
Malik Willis will fail in Miami. He will fail Miami. And then people will come back to us and say,
you wanted Malik and no, he's failing because he's got a defensive head coach and no players.
That's right. Jalen Malik Willis is representation for allowing him to go to Miami end of rant.
That, hey, I completely agree with that rant. And also the fact that we're going to take
flack when Malik Willis can't take, make chicken salad, chicken bleep, because he's,
is number one, why receivers two to at well. And maybe some wide out that they take early in this NFL
draft with all their picks. It looks like it is a big time mistake by Malik Willis. He went,
he got paid. He also got course gifted the starting role, which I hope the Arizona Cardinals were
willing to at least offer to him. Yeah. But maybe, maybe that was part of it. Maybe they weren't
willing to just concede Jacoby Bressett's QB1 status to Malik Willis. And that was one of those
reasons he went to South Beach instead of the desert. But looking like a tough choice for Malik Willis
there, considering not much in the playmaking department, not much as far as just protection
standpoint. And then, you know, Bobby Slavic was blown out of Houston after a decent first year
with CJ Stroud and really hasn't found his NFL footing since. So you think about that and people
like the timeline in Miami is 2027 and you hear that term timeline a lot. And the dolphins are
telling you, Malik Willis notwithstanding, because here's where I'll give the dolphins credit,
is like, they know they just can't be atrocious a quarterback, right? You have to fuel the team.
You have to have a conductor. The Miami Dolphins timeline, like the New York Jets timeline,
is 2027. They are traded away their star players for future assets. Okay. Understand that, applaud
that, right? The Cardinals are not doing that. The Cardinals could have traded away Joshua. They
could have traded away and shopped. Traimic pride, right? They could have they could have traded
marvel by now. They could have said, were resetting and we're going to get assets for now in the
next year. And you'll see just like these other teams, those bevy of draft pick, you know,
graphics that you see on social media, the Jets have a million first now. I am. He's got all the
picks in the second and third round. It's like the Cardinals aren't doing that, which tell me,
even though this has been a nightmare of an offseason from the quarterback's standpoint,
the Cardinals, I believe, think their timeline starts this year. The more we dig into this,
the Cardinals are not going to be competitive for the first overall pick, unless they go, I don't
know, winless. Does anybody think my house is going to win zero one games this year is trying to
do that? We've broken it down and nauseam. If the Cardinals win the average amount of games that
they are projected to win, they will not have a top three pick on strength of schedule.
I think they're going to be better than last year. It is so unbelievably laughable that people saw
last year, the team that was clearly the worst team in the NFL at the end of the year, losing 14 to
15, Raiders not standing. And they're like Cardinals are going to be worse than that. Are you out of
your mind? I think they're going to sleepwalk their way at least to five wins and then flip a
coin in some other games. Guess where you're drafting then, like eight to 12. You're not picking
ones. We got Raffa saying, you know, three wins next year. I think that's even not even going to be
within striking distance for the top pick. No, this is by far the most egregious, telegraphed,
tankiest, tanky draft we've had in a long time. Yes. We've already heard the Jaguars GM say teams
are preparing and holding on the draft capital for 2027. And there are teams like the jets that
are just punting on the entire season completely to where if teams start to go south, they're going
to lean into tanking. And like where you saw three teams have identical records, hold, you know,
the top three picks in this draft as far as the Raiders, the Jets and the Cardinals. I don't think
you're going to see that case. Like I think it's going to take one to two games went one to get to
where you need to go. That that's atrocious, especially when you're a team that's rosters in the
place where the Arizona Cardinals is where it's just it's not a complete barren covered. Like do
you wish there was better quarterback play higher upside. Absolutely, but not fall on your face.
Outright lose you games weekend and week out play really at any position. And when you play a
fourth play schedule, that matters because you're going to be able even on accident when football
games, the Cardinals and then even like if they get if they tie with one in these teams,
as Johnny has pointed out, the strength of schedule, just playing in the NFC West is going to
sink your chances inevitably about getting up ahead of a team atop the draft board. Let's turn
the clocks back a year, two years, 2024. The New York Giants, does anybody remember the Giants
of 2024? Guess how many games they won prior to that season? I think they won like four or five
games. They were terrible. They were unwatchable, but they won four or five games. Okay, they weren't
very good. Guess where they picked in that draft in 2024. Six overall. Yeah. Guess who didn't
sniff a quarterback. They didn't sniff one and they tried. They begged. They pleaded to come up.
Nobody wanted to hear them. They laughed at them. They couldn't get the first overall pick,
the second overall pick, the third overall pick. They were done. They were toast, right?
You want to do that? You want to win three to five games and sit there because of strength of
schedule, fifth or sixth overall and not sniff it on top of the fact that let's pretend that the
Browns or the Jets somehow are sitting right behind the Cardinals and the Cardinals aren't getting
a quarterback. You think the Cardinals are going to be able to compete with these other teams with
the robust draft capital. The Dolphins could win more games than the Cardinals next year, sure,
because they're, you know, gross division. They play the Jets, whatever. Let's say they get two
wins from the Jets next year. The Dolphins have tons of ammunition. The Cardinals have none.
And so we go into this because I think it's important to contextualize that there is a segment of
Cardinals Twitter that is very much in the mindset that the Cardinals are tanking the season.
And I have been of the mindset that if they are, it's the worst tank job I've ever seen.
They should have just brought back Jonathan Ganon. They should have stripped this puppy down.
If you're going to do it, do it right. They are not. They're trying to instill a new culture with
Michael a floor. They're trying to get the most out of Marv. They're not trading Marv away.
They have capable pass catchers. They could have two bookend first round capable tackles by the
end of April. So I, I just think if you, if you're in the camp, not to disappoint you,
that you think that this franchise is going to get the first overall pick an archmaning.
I'm sorry. That's not happening. I would venture to guess right now. They will not have a top five
draft pick next year. And for everybody that wants to tank, good luck. It's not, it's not going to
get you anywhere. Yeah. I mean, the unfortunate reality is they're not going to be far from a top five
draft pick either. I mean, it's going to be similar to where we were in early December as the
losses kept piling up. Right. You weren't moving up the draft board because it was just as competitive
to get to the bottom as it was to get to the postseason in the NFL. It's not tougher because
the teams, they knew it was a one quarterback draft. That was kind of starting to show itself.
Yeah. And if you, if you wanted to get there, you had to lose a lot of games and teams started to
sit stars and you started to see just full, egregious tanks. The Arizona Cardinals like even
know they might not be top five, like even if they, all things go well, they could be sitting,
you know, seven, eight inside the top 10, which I think is still in a decent spot in what's
supposed to be a quarterback rich draft. A lot of have to go really well for that. But to think
and have these hatch these plans of tanking and having the number one overall pick, I think that's
just as unrealistic as saying Cardinals are going to the playoffs in 2026. Like I just do, I think
that those are different ends of the spectrum and the Cardinals are unfortunately to some because
you either like want to be really bad or really good, they're right in the middle. Like they,
in 2023, it like not all rebuilds are equal 2023. It was a bulldozer. It was a wrecking ball.
They took this thing down. Yeah. Now they've actually started to build it back up. But it's been
a slower build. Of course, the quarterback thing plays a huge role in it. But they are starting to lay
the foundation as far as just the roster. Can they put a roster in place? Can they have the infrastructure
to win quarterback does present itself, whether it's the NFL level or in the draft, they would
aggressively pursue that quarterback like this from Brian having you all heard next year's drafts,
going to have 10 first round quarterbacks. You'd certainly see that from the media. And it's like
I'm not playing like revisionist history this year, but look at last summer, people said that
this quarterback class was supposed to be unbelievable. The same cast. Yeah. And then it's like NIL
money changes things. Archmaning could go back to school. It's like, where do I think the
Cardinals are going to inevitably draft? I think they're going to be drafting somewhere between
eight to 12 next year. I think they're going to win enough games to showcase competency from
Michael floor. You know, I who knows about the defense right now with Nick Rollas, but I just
think they have to they're going to have in my opinion too much town offensively to be a dormant.
And so much when you see teams kind of flail and flounder is that you can't score points. Cardinals
couldn't score over 30 points last year. They're going to score some points this year. Jacobi
would reset. Be damned. I just think they're going to be too well coached on that side of the ball.
And we we saw the incompetency of last year's staff offensively, specifically droopencing. I
think they're going to get away from that. I mean, Cliff Kingsbury his first year went five,
ten and one. And they picked what? Like seventh in the draft, eighth in the draft and they got
Isaiah Simmons there. Like I just right now there are two schools of thought that the Cardinals are
tanking or they're not tanking. The teams that are actively trying to strip it down for 2027 are
out here trading away their best players. The Cardinals haven't done that. The only reason right
now that people are running with the narrative that they are tanking this season is because of a
leaked message last Monday. I mean, like if you take that away, had this team sign Malik Milis,
Willis, or done something different, you take that away. Do their moves suggest a tank? I don't
think they suggest an all in, but I also don't think they suggest a team actively trying to lose.
I will say this though. And it's interesting. It really does depend on how
things are structured come mid-May in the schedule and when it's released and what it looks like.
Yeah. Fourth place schedule and we know that especially playing the NFC West doesn't matter
in your playing the AFC West and also the NFC East, which has at least half the division is good.
Like people saying, looking at the 2026 opponents and seeing only a couple wins here and there,
three to four, four to five. If the Cardinals are bad by the deadline, no, they should absolutely
become salad. Yeah. Yeah. And it could turn into a team that could like this last year lose out.
That is a possibility. I mean, I know how it stands right now and I know it's throwing a little
bit of a Molotov cocktail in the whole point, but this is also a team that doesn't have a lot
to lose or margin for air. Yeah. That if things do go south and they aren't competitive and they're
unexpected to be, but like if they sell and they shut it down and what's going to be a competitive
you know, race to the bottom, like they could certainly put themselves in that position.
But who are they shipping out? Josh Schwett. Right. I mean like David Collins. Yeah, but like not,
you're not giving up. Like these teams are trading away, quitting Williams and sauce gardener and
Jate, like, how's hold names? Are you trading away, Tremac bride? Well, no. No. Are you trading
away, Paris? No. Are you trading away? Anybody that money awesome for it is drafted that has been good?
No. They just cut Kyler Murray for nothing. Right. That's a sticker shot that fan base got to get
over. But like they do not, this is not 2023 when you're cutting the Andre Hopkins. Like for
cap ramifications, I just think the timeline is only skewed right now because of the perception
of this year's draft, a quarterback and the perception of next year's draft, the quarterback.
The difference is that it's one year difference based on prospects that we think we think they
would like more. But I would, I'm telling you right now, we're going to get to it around the
corner. Their actions now are telling you that they're keeping the seat warm to draft a quarter
back this year to support this roster and see what they've got in 2026. That's around the corner.
We talked high Simpson odds. That's coming up. Cardinals playing lottery with the draft. Why not do
it with the Arizona lottery instead? I'm talking about the multiplier family pack reminding
every 21 years and older, if you are, what are you waiting for, multiplier scratchers are the
perfect way to add to your life with multiplier scratchers from the Arizona lottery, you could
multiply the good things like vacation, relaxation, how about celebration because with more than

because growing up, it was always kind of under the radar to find out who's into edibles.
And it will always surprise you say, hey, you want to add the edibles? And you never know where it's
come from. Not the case with pure edibles, pure edibles. It's simple. If you're into edibles,
they're found right here in the great state of Arizona and they're a full-fledged candy company
that take that part seriously. So it's not just drenched in sugar and also takes the edible part of
it really seriously. On every 10 of pure edibles, it's listed the effects right there. So you know
what you're getting into delicious. And of course, it's going to give you the experience you're
seeking as far as your edibles. And here's even better thing. 130 inventories statewide
carried pure edibles. Found it right here in AZ up at the road and flagstaff. Now they call
Phoenix home because they're big league man. They don't just come here like the football organization
and just kind of take it easy. They know this is the big leagues here and they got a show up
because it's competitive game out there. The edibles game and they are dominating. And I also have
a great collaboration with one of their friends up there at the i17 mother road brewing. How about
the all in one tower station? The IPA along with pure edibles. They've got the all in one and it's
unbelievable. It feels like you're taking a nice sip of the mother road tower station IPA. But it is
it's got a smooth THC twist. Check it out. No more pouring. No more waiting. Just hop the hour
whenever you want. Check out pure edibles in the over 130 inventories. Stay wide.
Get that like button. Listen, I've been wrong before. I wrote an article go phnex.com
about 10 days ago. Why I argue that this is this is go time for money. I said for it. And how he's
responded. Let's just call it disappointing. But I put me firmly in the camp based on how this
team is operating that they're going to pursue ty Simpson in some capacity come next month's NFL
draft. Well, Vegas came out with their current odds. And again, this has opportunity to change.
Let's see it Noah. The cardinals right now, almost even money plus 150 to get ty Simpson. And
again, this isn't a pick three. This is just any capacity to leave the draft with ty Simpson.
The jets at plus 200, the Steelers at plus 320 and the Rams at plus 330. I only expect those
numbers to go up for the cardinals, assuming that we get a top 30 visit. Yeah. And again,
this this doesn't surprise me after bow watching your interview with Fran Duffy over the weekend.
No, it doesn't. It is interesting. The jets are going to have
two opportunities after the cardinals pick to select ty Simpson. Yet they're taking
a backseat. And I think that, you know, obviously betting it plays into the public perception. Yeah.
And Cardinals quarterback room, I think screams that just seeing just a reaction to it that
should go be percent Gardner Menshu. And hey, this this room needs some help. So who would be
the most aggressive to get ty Simpson? But the Cardinals are ahead of the jets who have two picks
after they select second overall. You're going to be what? 16th overall. And then they're going
to have the first pick in the second round. And then you've got yourself the Steelers who are
picking what 21st, 20th, 20th one. Yeah. And then you got, you know, it was last team on there.
But the Arizona Cardinals, Rams, Rams, the team, they they I don't think that's happening. Right.
Probably not. But people wanted to play connect the dots with that. And but because
Ty Simpson does kind of resemble what McVeigh looks for in a quarterback. And what, you know,
from the Shanahan tree looked for in a quarterback. And like I think he does look that part.
But when I start to kind of break down what I'm comfortable with because that's what this is about
the Arizona Cardinals and what is a fan going through the nightmare of the start of free agency.
And this offseason has been what I would be comfortable with this team and what it's aspirations
or lack thereof in 2026 would be. I don't want to see them aggressively pursue Ty Simpson.
Somebody asked me why I hate Ty Simpson on Twitter. I don't hate Ty Simpson. I just don't want to see
them relinquish a ton of draft capital on Ty Simpson. Sure. I want to see them get up the board
and overspend on Ty Simpson and get into Ty Simpson bed with him for the next half decade. And
it become this just tiring back and forth. These are the guys. He's not the guy because I look at
a in older prospect at 23 going to be 24 in his rookie season. But he's unproven and he's raw.
He's only played 15 collegiate games. Now a lot of people want to use 20 as the measuring stick
and start there. That if you started 20 collegiate games, that's usually a good sense of,
you know, can you get it good to the next level and are you mature enough to do so? He's well
below that, but he's in older prospect. So I've got a ton of reservations about him. And let me ask
you this before you really kind of get into it with Ty Simpson. Because I know you're going to have
you're going to be ready for this. You're locked and loaded. What's Ty Simpson's quarterback super power?
What does he do really well? Yes. I think he throws a really nice intermediate mid-range passing
game ball. I mean, that's where he kind of struggled at the end of the season. But as he was hurt
and he had a broken rib. In ball placement, his accuracy. I don't want to say, yeah, you would,
but that's my point. It's like doesn't he doesn't blow you away with the size. He's just under 62.
He doesn't blow you away with the athleticism. Yeah. He doesn't blow you away with the arm strength.
And he doesn't blow you away with ball placement. Like the things that are like the nicest things
are the best things on his scouting report are processing and his ability to kind of like his
knowledge of the playbook. When for me, for my money, for my, my, the team I follow in their
draft capital and how I want to see them spend it. I just don't know how worthy he is of this comments.
Damn that long pause. Have me think of pros. Johnny had nothing. I think listen, those are good
points. And put me in the camp of you're not, do not give up premium assets to get him in terms
of like hemorrhaging your future. You're not a hemorrhaging your future, right? Like you're,
you're being smart about this. And I'm probably very much in the camp. If they love them,
they need to trade down from three and make it work. But if you're picking a player at three,
you're basically conceding that we can't get Tyson Simpson before like pick 20, pick 18 to 20.
You're going to have to be okay with that. Trust your scouts and make sure that everybody's on
the same page of like if he, if he gets drafted in the teens, like we got, that's an overdraft and
we got to be accepting of that. And like I have no issue with that. I would, I would argue like his
best game last year easily is I was the college football playoff round one. When they played
Oklahoma, Oklahoma was white hot. They had a great defense. And he was methodical. 18 and 29,
two touchdowns, 62% completion. You might think that's not great. Oklahoma had one of the best
defenses in college football. They have a defensive head coach. His ball placement in that game was
outstanding. Like he made a real NFL throws from the pocket. And I, to go back on your question,
like what, what is my favorite trait? My favorite trait is knowing that you're going to ask him
to do things that he did collegially. We're not getting a popcorn quarterback. We're not getting
a boot and roll quarterback. We're not getting a running quarterback. And we're not having to ask
ourselves, can you play the position from the pocket? Tyson can do that. Now to what level,
I don't think anybody can say definitively. I don't think anybody can sit here and say, well,
he'll be a top, you know, definitive top 10 quarterback. But I know that the
reservations that people had with Kyler Murray, the reservations that people had with Malik Willis
recently, as of last week, rose from the pocket, real NFL throws, not boot and roll, not, you know,
RPO charade, whatever. If you're going to ask a guy to start for 17 games, like Ty Simpson is a
pocket quarterback that played in a system that supported a pocket quarterback. And I also think,
you know, Alabama's got the one electric receiver that's kind of up and down. But this is not
Alabama. Ryan Williams, right. Vintage with that got too adrafted with premium receivers and
the Julio Jones of the world. This is a water down Alabama product. This is not Nick Sabin's
Alabama. So I think in any other, if he's in next year's quarterback class, he's probably like
a firm second round pick. Yeah. Probably a like somewhere in the 40s to 50s. No,
with that. And I think even in this class, like you look at him and he's tier two, yeah, this
tier two is different. It's just like on it. Teams aren't even considering him in the top 10,
top 15. And this is all a conversation about comfortability because I'm not taking him off my
board. I'm not going to slam the pick if the Cardinals make it, you know, even at 34. Like I can
see that force through the trees here. But like, yeah, the thing about Ty Simpson as being a firm
tier two quarterback prospect, who is a French first rounder, probably better set to go in round two.
Yeah. Not plant is how little he's played the collegiate level despite being in college for a long
time. I just look at his Cardinals get out of the roster. I still want that 2027 chip for
quarterback. Sure. Because when I look at 2027 as it's projecting, and I know people can push back
like, oh, those are all projections. And we just went through, you know, what a 2026 project. Like
you're going to have arch in this class. You're going to have Sam Levin in this class. Look at
all these guys. And they all fell by the wayside. They're all back at college. And they're going
to be likely in the class next year. But I see as far as those guys go, they have multiple tier one
quarterback prospects, a K top 10 QBs. And I would love it. I just throughout all this losing.
And during all this crap, I think the Cardinals at the very least want to try to invest a tier one
chip into a quarterback in 2027. But that would require you to be a horrendous team this year.
And I'm not saying that Michael Floor couldn't overcome that. I think it's a bad
culture business decision to set up a coach that you were lucky to get with a roster quarterback
play. What have you that wins three games or less? I think that's so detrimental for this franchise.
And I think you do too. But you're just you're you're playing the hand that was dealt last week.
Right. I think that's foolish. And I like, I don't think they'd be signing
Devon DuVernay. And I don't think they'd be trying to add pieces here over the last couple days
as vanilla as people want to label them. If they if that was their intent,
like you put me on the record, I don't think that they are purposely trying to torpedo the
2026 season. I think it's much more likely that they have gross gross overconfidence in a veteran
aging Jacobi percent based on cartoon numbers while tying it and pairing it with a tie Simpson
S prospect. I believe that that right now, if you ask me, that is their plan. I don't think that
they're thinking about 2027. How how could they? The man's got 15 wins. Yeah.
Looking at just kind of the who's who 2027? I'm just curious, which quarterbacks, if any,
you would select tie Simpson over. You want to do that on the other side? Yeah, let's do it.

all right um the quarterbacks that could come out next year you sent me a list
is arch manning a better prospect than ty Simpson yes okay no issue with that is don't
take more a better prospect than ty Simpson probably he was probably going I mean he's going to be a
top 500 he could have been a cardinal or a jet yeah uh DJ lag way of bailer gonna have to put out
some good tape post florida hard no julian sand hard no he was atrocious for a Ohio state
especially at the end of the year and cost them they had an elite defense and they couldn't score
points yeah I think saying is actually right in the ballpark of a ty Simpson I I disagree but I
I know no issues though okay uh Darian the kid from Duke that transferred to where he transferred to
Miami Miami yeah man said I would probably have put him ahead of ty Simpson
for tools the yes sure and based on like this the amount of games he played in the stats he put up
at the same size I think lunora sellers is a hard no for me
me he's a he's a project like Anthony Richardson was sure um now he could turn it around be
awesome but he if he's in the if he like declared for this draft there's no way I would take him
there's no way uh sam levitt I think I was higher on him than you were I don't know I I can't
seem to quit sam levitt as an NFL prospect I I know I think last year was about as bad as it
could be for sam levitt if it lingers into this year then like I can change I'll do a quick pivot
off of him but I mean as far as his athleticism his arm strength like I would
the idea of him as a prospect I really like but like obviously he needs to put out good tape
people are saying I was being too hard on Julian San probably is true although he was bad against
Indiana in the big ten championship he was bad against Miami those are great teams played
well against Michigan I would still have tie Simpson over Julian sand I think Julian sand is
probably like closer to six foot and I think when with levitt get back to levitt like he's when
it's all said and done he'll have more than enough games to say you hey this is a a college tested
quarterback coming at it and then he played SEC competition just like Simpson like I agree with
the chat I I'll take uh bahara saying Sam is better than tie yeah no it's texting me he
thinks sam levitt is the next JJ McCarthy why didn't you say that he's I didn't want a button
but okay it reminds me a lot of him a very athletic toolsy guy but when it comes to the past game
it can be a little iffy you know I love this comment from Terrence because this is like what I
think tie does well is to go through the progressions and like you're you're banking on that now
there's no argument when the athletic traits and the progressions meet in the middle you get a
franchise quarterback that's a that's a plus plus plus yeah I mean like how many times have we
have we tried it with the toolsy guy I would also say soresby are you soresby over tie Simpson no
I'm not either I saw soresby play in the same in the big 12 quite a bit
I know he went he's going from Simpson addy to texas tech he's gonna have to have a good year
for me to think he's a legit NFL prospect like I'm sure he's gonna invited the combine all
I get stuff but think he's just a good college quarterback right now yeah and then jaden uh
my eva from USC I think I like him more in tie yeah I question the competition level now he
played in the big 10 some of those schools USC plays they have great personnel he he was
excellent at the end of the year and he's a big thick kid I probably agree with you so we got
like four to five guys now right archmaning Dante more Darian Mensa jaden love it there and
lev it yeah so there's five guys they all have to declare okay and then you gotta and then
they all have to continue to climb they could have a wet fart of a season and then be like I'm
not coming out or it's like I don't want them anymore right and then like okay the cardinals
this is but this is the this is the question that we we started the show with it's like eight to 12
or even like six to 10 and there are quarterback need like you're not getting the first second
or third best quarterback you're saying okay like I'm going to take jaden when a year ago maybe
we were high on tie Simpson but now I'm going to get the the fourth fifth best quarterback in this
class it sure is hell better work because you have now the scar tissue of having the kind of season
that requires a a pleading it with your fan base just give us more time to get right whereas
that's one of the biggest issues we have with this entire charade is the cards don't have
that benefit of the doubt with their fan base yeah when you thought back to 2018 even they were
coming off the ba era and kind of it something he would he had created this equity with the fan base
and he got the benefit of the doubt like you pointed out before they were 15th in that draft they
weren't originally drafting 10 and a quarterback rich draft they got up for the fourth quarterback
there was five in that first round and they're the only team that didn't get a good one it seems
like after all settled but like it even took some maneuvering to get up there and like if it falls
similarly right you like you had a quarterback at the top yeah say quan you had darnold you had
then you had alan and then rose so you had four in the top 10 like that that's pretty crowded
when you think about it like you're playing with fire I just I think it's a I think it's bad business
to ask tramic bride to go through another three and 14 season no I'm not saying tank at all
but I don't think like tysemson adding him to the equation in 2026 outside of getting him to cut his
teeth is is really going to do much as far as helping tramic bride and paris johnson junior and like
the guys that go to war every week for this team feel better about losing because like it's tysemson
we poke fun at jacobie percent a lot and we know that he's a guy that can play you know
competitive football at the quarterback position he's not going to fall on his face like tysemson
there's going to be some lumps it like regardless if he becomes a good quarterback or not like you're
one I would expect him to have some learning some major learning curves so like about losses will
come regardless but think about drafting tysemson responsibly whether it's 34 or a trade up
into the first you get the fifth year option right and you don't give any assets for 2027 and think
about securing him in a division where staffer is year to year you know perty is maybe his equal
in terms of physical abilities and and then of course darn old and you you sit around next spring
then and let's say you drafted ty and he shows a lot of promise maybe only when five to six games
but you're trending up because of the promise that he has shown and then people buy into that
that mindset and then you go in the next off season not still so far behind in this rebuild
but with your quarterback established knowing who it's going to be in 2027 and then suddenly the
benefits of a rookie wage scale so you can pump up your roster and you can make a big trade and you
can add an impact player in the draft and don't have to force it on the fourth to fifth to sixth
best quarterback I mean like for me it's like all I have to do is give up my second round pick and
I get a lottery ticket this year that could lead to all that for me that's much more appealing and
and most importantly you do something in year one that unfortunately Jonathan Ganon didn't have
the benefit of as you get to tie yourself to a homegrown quarterback that you were part of the
evaluation in securing them and I just go ahead I hear you in all that but my biggest concern with
Ty Simpson is in this gauntlet of the division like when will you ever have the best quarterback
in in the NFC West with Ty Simpson what are the odds that he ascends to be the best quarterback in
this division or the guy that's going to be the trigger man for a team that's in place and he's
just that glorified game manage like where is he what's like his ceiling is NFC West quarterback
why I think when Stafford retires you know post Stafford world you've got a contention any year
for him to be in the mix for one or two I think this Donald thing as a shelf life and I also don't
think like Donald's now I think Donald's numbers are inflated because of clink kubiak last year maybe
I'm wrong pretty they they've locked into I mean like the Rams are probably going to have to go with
another like that's going to be the that's going to be an alluring spot like when Stafford leaves
people are going to want to go work with Sean McVeigh if they don't get one of these studs
in 20 20 but oh you on with Kyler Murray though for years you had the quote unquote the most athletic
quarterback in the division you didn't win anything but you're just going to go and you're going to
overcrack you're like well we didn't get to the outside I don't think there's even over correction I
think this is like you saw revisionist history and Jackson darts much more mobile than Ty Simpson
but you're seeing these teams that are are taking educated swings on late first early second
quarterbacks and then let's build the team around them I mean like one of the biggest arguments
you can make of Kyler Murray's failure here is the fact that his infrastructure was the team that
picked first overall right and and then failed around him and then you know good argue he didn't
live up to his side of the bargain certainly I just I think the notion that the only way for the
cardinals to be good and consistently good is to tank for a toolsy quarterback I think that's
horse shit but we're not saying I'm not saying tank though what I'm saying is go after Ty Simpson
like he's the future of your quarterback position why I think what reasonably like responsible
I'm not sitting here saying take him third overall right but in a draft that's art we already
argue is watered down Monty Austin Ford has already gotten 28 draft picks if they take Francis
Maui no or David Bailey and say okay what do we need to do to get a mini package up for Ty Simpson
at the end of the first round I think that's a smart decision especially if Mike signs off on him
and then you see what you have this year and guess what if it works out you're in a great spot
tanky doesn't get your guarantee you anything and starting Jacobi percent all season only
fractures this fan base more but I just I I want a different reality for this fan base this season
it's so do I believe me I'm I gotta go to the stadium and endure that you know nine times
next year plus but two preseason game yeah the the the cardinals as far as Ty Simpson I want to
be realistic about what his upside is where where he would even just stand in his own backyard
and then division let's unpack that a little bit more let's get to our last break here on
pH next cardinals if you love the NFL draft then this is your edge the diehard NFL draft guide
is built and based off of thousands of hours of film study being boots on the ground triangle

the 2026 guide for just 26 dollars let's win draft season love that from fran duffy if you've
ever been in an accident suffered a serious injury the lawyer you hire so important it really
matters do your research when you do all that research it's likely gonna lead you to one law
team the husband and wife log team so many people in Phoenix call market Alexis prior the husband
and wife log team Phoenix locals who've raised their eight kids here and their firm that's built
around one thing getting the best results for the clients their team brings hundreds of years to
combine trial experience and several of their attorneys are certified specialists in personal
injury and wrongful death the title held by less than 1% of lawyers in Arizona it's huge check
them out the difference is their real trial lawyers and if your case needs to go to court they're
going to be ready they're going to go throw down on your behalf when it's necessary plus they
promise you'll receive at least as much in your pocket as they do in fees even if they have to
lower their feet to make it happen that's what I'm talking about if you've had a serious injury
call the husband and wife law team at 602 7a 388 41 or check the link in the show notes and tell
Johnny and Bo from pH next cardinal sentia if you look back at last year's top
passing performances in the NFL which mostly these quarterbacks lead playoff teams it's a mix it's
a mix of conventional pocket passers and the toolsy guys like staffer first overall when the MVP
first overall pick and you know no arguing with that golf obviously first overall
pocket passer that press got I would argue is much more of a pocket passer now is pretty
immobile then you've got Drake May Sam Darnell Trevor Lawrence Caleb Williams Bonix Herbert
Baker Mayfield I mean it's just it's a mix it's guys that are freak shows and then guys that
stay in the pocket now where you can push back and I have no issue with this is most of those guys
we named her first round quarterbacks oh yeah it's that press guy so like that's why I think
listen if you're sitting here and telling me like well I like Ty Simpson but I only like him at 34
that's just not how it works if you like him enough to to invest in him and the 34th overall
pick or whatever we have I can't I think it's 34 it is is basically like a first round pick then
he's worth a trade up into the first round to get a fifth year option I just I think if you're
sitting there sweating out on day two then you really didn't love him you know anyway right right
right it's like and we look at it's like how much do you you like or do you love him as far as
what's your evaluation of him and are you willing to to pay the price to get him and it's like okay
well we're do we're math in it right now oh we are math and hard right now as far as where he would
stand within the division what's his ceiling like if you're gonna say okay let's look at the 49ers
his comp is Brock Purdy I'd love them to be a better version of Brock Purdy but I'll take Brock
Purdy so I'm not gonna put him ahead of Brock Purdy sure okay I know he's a long he's older whatever
and he is also Mr. relevant he was the last pick of the draft but still what he's accomplished and
how he plays the game it's it's pretty damn good so I'm not gonna put him ahead of Purdy
I'm not gonna put him ahead of Stafford but I understand Stafford could be on his way out here
within the next season or two max and then you've got Sam Darnold and Seattle I'm not gonna put him
at Seattle Sam Darnold at this point and in the process so like at best you've got the third best
quarterback in your division right so that's that's a little that's tough and he's he's not gonna be
the one of those guys that's just gonna take off and next like what's his ceiling where's he gonna
where's he gonna fit into the overall lane I think like order best case scenario he's a 4000 yard
passer in the 30 touchdown guy because that's that's his play style and I also think somebody
makes a great point in the chat that I think a lot of people are completely dismissing he's only
available pick 34 because he got injured at the end of the year and it is buying low he was the
consensus number one pick in mock drafts in October ahead of Fernando Mendoza and then he got hurt
and then that Bama team fell apart you I this is my thought process on Tyson Simpson Cosman I'm so
glad you brought up this point and I am of the mindset and I agree with the people in the chat
you're buying low on an asset on a stock and you keep swinging until you get it right and I do
not believe in this franchise area shown you if you take Tyson Simpson at 25 to 30 and you're not
giving up future capital and you bring him into your building and he doesn't work out and you've
got a top pick next year you can move off of him easily there's no I know that you're scoffing at
that and I know that's your biggest concern but like we we've already seen that and Rosen was
the 10th overall pick and there are plenty of people saying give Rosen another opportunity I just
think from from my vantage point Tyson Simpson with Michael the floor and what he looks for in a
quarterback I think there's there's a success right there that can be obtained as early as this year
that could give everybody a comfort level where you don't have to force it in 2027 yeah I think they've
set themselves up to where they're not gonna force it as much as we'd like to think of a
reality in the near future where Tyson Simpson is starting games with this team it's still going to be
Jacobi Berset a Gardner Menshu or if Jacobi Berset falls on his face they're going to probably
turn to Menshu first before even throwing you think so yeah Tyson Simpson they're all in five and
they have no juice you're not you got to put them out there think about the team we cover think
about the team aren't we covered how reluctant they are to do fun things and just kind of
fly by the sea they're pants they do not control their own destiny in 2027 that's the only point
to my point as far as 2027 go is we've already identified five guys that we feel
about the similar to Tyson Simpson if not better because they have you know just the things that
the traits bigger arm mobility for sure yeah and stuff that you know teams around this league and then
like a lot of people want to make like when they point out the quarterbacks and first round
quarterbacks and the success they had in the lack of success that they had in their original
drafting team right the Albert Breer thing tweet that came out after Kyle Murray was cut
was pointing out like how guys usually kind of find it in their second phase and it's because it's
not you know a quarterback drafting problem it's a development problem and it's like you're going to
get Tyson Simpson in here with the very real reality of you're not going to give him the long enough
runway that it's going to take to develop the guy I think I can tell you definitively like you
get Tyson Simpson in your building and you're willing to cut bait like after a season it's not he's
not going to him being here it's it's worthless almost but go go invest that that asset into a different
position I would have to feel strong enough in my ability to develop a quarterback my name is Michael
Floor and this is what I was here this is what I was brought here to do and I have two first round
tackles and I've got an all pro tight end and I've got two capable receivers and we just gave Kendrick
born two years you know 16 million dollars like that's what I keep going back to like they're not
operating like the jets and the browns and the dolphins but like you you don't believe that these
moves or lack of aggressiveness to tear this down telegraphs an investment in the quarterback class
in 2026 that's how I'm reading this entire thing when you wet the bed is bad as they did a week ago
and made it a point to tell everybody we're not doing anything else and and then you're not
stripping the roster down you're not trading players and you're telling people this our time is
now we expect Michael bid well we expect to win this year we've got 28 players we've brought in
first second third year players that doesn't scream like another tank season and then maybe if
we're lucky we'll get the fourth or fifth best QB next year I just don't I don't think that's their
timeline it could scream hey we're in the quarterback business but as far as what this draft is telling
you is that the rest of the league it's a mass exodus as far as this quarterback class and the
Cardinals are the lone team coming back to this draft is that surprising don't order backs that's
concerning to me is that surprised you that they would do that though I I would like to hope so
no I think you just made the case a couple of minutes ago that this this how this team operates we
remember that Josh Wymefus report which I scoffed at in December that he put out this team this you
know front office they were smitten with Ty Simpson Ty Simpson went on and on about how great this
organization was at the combine I am trying to connect the dots for people and there's a reason why
they're the Vegas favorite to draft them and I'm also trying to make sense in my mind why they
would punt on upgrading in free agency a quarterback because everybody thinks that they're nuts for
operating the way they did great you guys crushed it with the super chats per usual let's start to
get into those let's lead it off here know if you will how about Kyle Haley friend in the show
thanks Kyle what's up boys I saw something earlier about the Cardinal Scouts at Arkansas's
pro day to check out the running back I think did you guys see the same thing or was it fake
I think it was real yeah so he's a day three prospect uh I don't know
like Washington yes okay but can't take it running back in the first two rounds now or the first
three rounds after the investments you made in free agency yeah I was just looking at a friend
up he's draft breakdown of uh Mike Washington and say he's a rotation running back yeah so it
happened a thousand yard rushing season on his resume last year in the SEC eight touchdown
six point four yards per carry played at New Mexico State before that and then Buffalo for three
seasons so he is a he's an older draft prospect jack 199 great decision by Malik hashtag should have
come to azbo yeah uh tough one Malik who could have seen this coming no playmakers
defense of Malik coach yeah it's it's just again though why didn't the Cardinals try to get him
why didn't they pay more what's there what's the end game here Vince five dollars I agree with you
Johnny about the Cardinals trying to be competitive this year but then why the F didn't they invest
in free agency ridiculous I mean I think with the benefit of hindsight now after that first day
which was a disaster if you remove the quarterback situation they signed a starting caliber running
back they signed a starting guard they've added a bunch of complimentary pieces we knew they weren't
going to go nuts right they signed the guard everybody one in them to sign they signed an upgrade
at wide receiver three they on a Vince I'm at the point like they signed a pro bowl returner the
biggest issue with this team is how they address quarterback or lack thereof I to me it's like
the rest of these moves if you would have if you would have paired Malik wills with the rest of
these moves we would have been saying a plus off season yeah it's a good point would have changed
the complexion of things our guy Brian P I think who the quarterback is matters less than the
O line and system very few quarterbacks can succeed in spite of their coaches slash supporting cast
how many places did Donald fail until he got the right infrastructure and I think the hope is
with the floor that that he instills that kind of infrastructure like a Shanahan McVey like a Mike
McDaniel with what he did with Tuah like that's the hope right like Tuah super limited he made the
postseason and a couple of probals with Mike McDaniel skimmed it up like I think Ty Simpson is probably
more talented than Tuah based on his height and his ability to throw it downfield the Tuah
Tuah is kind of washed he was good he was good when he's coming out didn't didn't live up to those
expectations so easy yeah moe down to full nineteen ninety nine unbelievable not anti-Sempson but
don't ignore Nussmeyer injured in twenty five twenty four through four thousand yards twenty nine
touchdowns his dad is Doug Nussmeyer former NFL QB and current O.C. of the Saints good arm
seems ready mentally if you're a die hard check out Fran Duffy's draft gut it's got Nussmeyer QB2
you're not a big fan of his mm-hmm people who think Bo hates Ty Simpson wait till he gets on
that's mine that's my next that's my next crusade thank you moe for that very generous super chat how
about libertarian Sasquatch sorry but this is what bad organizations do they hitch their wagon the
second round QBs with 15 starts 15 starts which is already unprecedented for an NFL QB where I
would push back libertarian is he is an older prospect he's gonna he's not twenty he's not 19 he's
not 21 he's 24 a good thing I mean he's mature mature I guess mm-hmm but yeah he hadn't played he
hasn't played a ton Brock Perty or is he Mitchell Trebuski Brock Perty played a ton of
college ball he did he did played a lot Bajaro jumping in how about this Bama fans were happy he left
come on my my I mean they were happy when Jalen Hertz left to my question is why is he declaring
if he doesn't think he's gonna get drafted I in a year in an off season where guys were taking
the college bag he was running to the pros something to that my guess is the NFL likes him more than
than Twitter never a pleasure 499 I don't really think Monty would go after Ty because he's got
men shoot a backup not a third string quarterback if Monty awesome for it goes into the season with
those two quarterbacks and like a slowest then he'll be fired by Halloween he'll have nothing
to hang his hat on why should you be the general manager of the Cardinals until what have you built
Ty Simpson represents hey I have my quarterback give me time to get the team right with him and
get get Mike let him to acclimate him with no quarterback and this was my argument for free agency
too like you just you have nothing to sell to bidwell beyond this year short stacked goblin jv you're
being incredibly short cited you want to lose more games you want to have no promise for hope
like this team has won an average of five games the last what half decades since 2021 the only
that number skew because eight wins two years ago yeah I I I will never be okay with
sign me up guy for sucking in 2026 let's do it I think that's such a loser mentality
let's go have all the players we love go off and have success elsewhere I want to see him win a ring
get him out of town hate it vents white Monty choosing Simpson as his guide just makes sense very
conservative in low ceiling lol it's very conservative I mean Mike has a lot to say about it as well
but like I I don't think his ceiling is quite as low as bow thanks but like I might as say your
argue like he's got the ceiling of a lot of the guys next year of course not but I I would also
think like a lot of the ceiling guys have busted lately
breezy baby member supporter of pH next sports here on youtube one of our faves
that loyalty my guy just want a reason to root for this team in 2026 draft Uncle Rico draft
anyone take a swing you you haven't drafted a quarterback in the top three rounds since Murray
good lord get some new people in here this is this is a horror show
I don't want to hear about it's 2026 guys I don't want to hear about 2027
sure that goblin is back levin has 11 wins tight 15 games played come on we like levin more
than ty Simpson I would have if levin declared this year there was talking he was going to declare
I would have taken him this year easily no issue with that Brian P
give me a QB who maybe isn't toolsy but enough brain power to turn a light on him when it's dark
don't want your markets rustle all the tools no brain I mean I think a lot of these guys are smart
but it's the it's the on field processing and now you know it's always a concern
but then you can't go too far the other way I mean like he's a gamer it's like he wins a lot
at the college level and it's just like he was on a great team right I'm not going to see
you're going to tell you like I can break down like a week quarterback film we have the one
tweet though from chase Daniel no one can we see that real quick this was from earlier today I
retweeted this ty Simpson's first eight games this year we played number five team 16 14 11 team 20
TD passes one pick and he was on pace to be the first overall pick and then the
you know Bama coach did not make good adjustments or in the season he got banged up
and it fell apart but it's in there it's in him he can do it but more consistency absolutely
I think that comes with age keep it going here with the super chats thank you Brian have
our libertarians ask watches bag JV I want you to say Simpson stats not vibes I I think he's
kind of anti vibes honestly like if there if there was a vibes quarterback in this track graph he ain't
it so I wish he was he was the one up there at his his pre combine interview Santa I love this is
a great organization mr. Monti he's got some goober vibes like you know more is a big ball guy
lit libertarian I wish he had vibes
how about this from a bada bing a crossbee don't reach take away Bama and tie is a zero with shoes
I'd rather take a late round flyer on someone like back after dressing o-line and d-line stay
away from nussmeyer I like Carson back too I would take Carson back but I like I mean who does
Mike like let Mike pick the quarterback and take him where you need to take him rlw 499 Johnny
is right and if Michael floor likes him once tied then you go get him 100% if Michael floor is like
I can win 9 to 10 games a year with with tie Simpson let's do that and like I I'm sorry and I make
this point a lot so I apologize repeating myself but like guys the standards we have here are so
dog water because where this team is and people are like I need a toolsy guy that we can win a
Super Bowl with tomorrow bro we're we're winning like three games a year can we just try to level
up as a franchise for just incremental improvements gotta have a Josh Allen time for me to take him
in the top five it's gonna be another like he fizzles out hits the market and then what we're seeing
with Kyler Murray is like man look at Kyler he's he's pretty good I think Kyler Murray's gonna
lead the Vikings so far in the playoffs you're like what where was this energy when Kyler was
the same guy the last seven years don't be an embarrassing franchise stop embarrassing everyone
Harry get out from mind that horrible organization Harry why not swing it all are in a later
round how about take tie Simpson and then draft your all our later let's do it let's just have some fun
that'd be that'd be like Brown's Esk from last year Brian P five dollars need to get used to
older draft prospects NIL has changed the game get paid to stay in college and try and develop more
22 is gonna be the average now it's a great point by Brian yeah the age is right for
size teams and the experience is not well come here and start games for us next year perfect
parents get your brains beaten in this from iron will Monty gives up second and third and fifth
round to trade up mid first to get tie or Kyler takes the Vikings to the playoffs at 12 and five
the universe says only one happens odds are heavy on the K one scenario yeah I would be
surprised if the Vikings aren't a playoff team next year they won nine games last year with the
worst quarter by playing the NFL but I mean people get hurt things change I the NFL season was
like outside of the Cardinals face planning was like very predictable I need some shaking out I
need some teams to go down I need some energy he's to end but I if you asked me today yeah I
would think the I don't know if they'll win 12 games but they'll win enough to get in the playoffs
for sure um but we don't have time to talk about the playoffs I want to talk about the draft
and our draft party we've already sold double digit and counting tickets for the draft party

well they're getting good get your tickets and you too could be like Jersey Cardinal where Johnny's
standing close enough to be technically in the picture together with you but also social distancing
in the picture just because he's an awkward guy uh the real photo actually has up me flanked by
some other fellas and so but of course they they cut off that gentleman I just I hate that
actually it bothers me the bow would do that worse for the guy because he he was in that pic he
deserved I'm saying he didn't even get in the promotional image probably won't buy tickets this
year because he's like MF first snapped me out cut me out of that picture yeah I'm gonna
know you need to use your Photoshop expertise and just like slowly move Johnny further away I can
