Residents Urged To Vigilant Amid Clarecastle Break-In Attempts

I only became aware of it today that on Saturday night last,

call it in the end, the dead hours of the night,

around four o'clock or so, the work,

there were four individuals caught on camera.

Going from door to door,

they were tied out in boiler suits with our hoods up,

so you can't actually see their faces,

but you can quite clearly see them making their way around,

saying, it's Joseph's Terrace and Carcassel.

Chicken doors to see where they locked,

chicken, chicken cars, and also looking under door mats

to see where their keys left out.

So I suppose I can only ask people to be very vigilant.

You know, if you're hiding a key,

make sure it's somewhere that's not going to be

like under the front door mats anyway,

because these gangs that were up to no good

and they're only looking for an opportunity to strike.

And in one instance, they did come across one open door.

Somebody that had been out for a few drinks here,

run even, and had fallen asleep on a couch.

And when she walked, she walked to her dog barking.

And there was one of these, one of this gang inside,

inside their front hallways.

So you've got to be careful and certainly treat your home,

security carefully, because you have to,

these opportunists are only looking for a chance

to get into a place and run second.

And the thing is, you know, that we have to be very conscious

that these opportunists, as you call them,

they are scoping these areas out before they go to them.

But they're also driving here in Carzans.

There's going to be registration plates.

And even if there is a registration plate,

there's going to be details that can be got.

So I suppose you probably be appealing for anybody to go back

over their footage, maybe look for a getaway car,

but also for other residents.

If there's no any suspicious activity to be vigilant,

to inform others and to keep on top of it.

That's right. And look at it.

I guess most, most of these communities,

like Central Suschera's, have their neighborhood watch,

or they might have their WhatsApp group or whatever.

So they are all in touch with each other

to a certain degree anyway.

But yeah, you've got to look out for each other.

And if you do see people acting suspiciously,

report us to the guards.

Because if the guards aren't getting the information,

they can't act, you know,

sometimes people think we're the guards,

but unless the guards get the information fed to them,

they can't take action.

So I would appeal to people if they do see any suspicious activity

to report us to the guards and let your neighbors know also.

And it goes without saying that these opportunists,

burglars, teas, whatever you want to call them,

they are cowardly and they are praying on the most vulnerable

in any community or housing estate that they go into.

So I suppose it is important here as well for neighbors,

maybe to look out for households that might be own person households

or any households that might be out for a longer time,

maybe keep the light on, give that appearance at least that you're in

and just I suppose for residents to really, really look out for each other here.

All of that goes without saying that.

And particularly to look out for the elderly and the vulnerable,

you know, like you said, it might be the widower,

the widower and then might be elderly or whatever.

So you'd certainly have to look out for those.

And but like you said, it's, you know,

to act with a common sense approach as well.

Not to believe in keys, left outside,

the back door or the front door,

or under the flower pot or whatever.

That's that's that's high risks of in this same age

because you're only inviting trouble upon yourself.

So yeah, I guess just I just communities to pull together

and if you see anything bad, you happen to let the guards know.
