Welcome to the Resistance.
0:05
Folks, I do believe that we're turning the corner.
0:09
In the past few days, I've seen some things that give me hope.
0:14
To start out, here in Colorado, two of our carbon-dated members of Congress, Hickenlooper
0:19
and Digett, are struggling to find votes in our caucuses.
0:23
In fact, Hickenlooper has pulled out of the caucus.
0:27
Now, there hadn't been any announcement of him dropping out, so I'm guessing that he's
0:32
going to petition on.
0:34
If he stuck in the caucus and didn't get enough votes, he couldn't do that.
0:38
Hicken to get are both getting trounced by younger, more progressive candidates who are
0:43
expressing the same frustration we feel, and they're promising to fight with more than
0:48
just strongly worded letters.
0:51
Hicken to get are left staring at their sundial wristwatches and wondering if their time
0:59
This is happening because activism works.
1:02
When people see your activism in any form, from protests to calling elected officials and
1:07
talking about it, to any other way that you can think of, it builds community, and people
1:15
in a strong community will fight for their community.
1:18
That's why Colorado's caucus turnout has almost doubled for Democrats.
1:23
Our party is being flooded by activists who are given the old guard the boot.
1:27
Now, it's too soon to definitely say, but this looks like maybe part of a nationwide trend
1:34
to rejuvenate the Democratic Party with younger, progressive, populous Democrats.
1:40
And the IC on the cake is this.
1:43
Remember several weeks ago when I was running about do nothing Democrats?
1:49
I told you about the House and Senate rules.
1:51
I talked about how they could be using them to gum up the works.
1:56
Well, maybe those DC Dems are recognizing an anti-incomement way of starting to build.
2:03
Because those Dem leaders have dusted off the rulebooks.
2:06
And they're using them to stop the Save Act and force hearings on Trump's Epstein Fury
2:12
It's better late than Neverboys, but it's still not going to pull your bacon out of the
2:18
And that right, Buster.
2:21
They're looking at how well young Dem challengers are doing.
2:24
And they're scared the good old boys club is being dismantled.
2:29
Folks, it's possible that we'll drag the Democratic Party away from the consultants and back
2:33
to Main Street in a single election cycle.
2:37
That makes me happier than Athena with a new rock.
2:40
Meanwhile, Republicans are showing cracks.
2:45
And voters are pulling back, and even some traditional Republicans are starting to step
2:51
That's what happens when chaos gets too big to ignore.
2:55
I want to think about how very possible it is that the November election could be a
3:03
I can't help but smile.
3:06
Activism matters, and we're starting to see what happens when it works.
3:12
Thanks for listening.
