Rick Fisher: China will not allow Iran to be defeated

Thank you, sir. Michael, would you like to start this with Rick because I don't know where to go. There's so much been happening since we had Rick on last. Yeah, well, I'm kind of in the same position except I'm very interested in what you think the Chinese are up to, sir, refueled in terms of Iran. Are they just watching it? Are they, do they keep flowing weapons into their, what do they actually see around as part of their network?

2:03I guess it is part of their network internationally, but I mean, what do you think that what they're really up to there at the moment? Okay, well, in order to answer that, we have to look at what were they up to before? Yes, sir. Before the Iran War, they were on the cusp of turning Iran into a massive strategic pivot point. The Chinese basically are playing the old gangster game, but you know, give me what I want or my dog here is going to rip your face off. And Iran, of course, is the dog and it was going to be a nuclear dog very, very quickly. And this nuclear dog had already in 2023, scared Saudi Arabia into a, the beginnings of

3:04a rapprochement with Iran. And that was a big deal that was not really well noticed beyond the Middle East. But this was true. No, sorry, I don't recall being mentioned at all in the news. Yeah, yeah. I had just come from an arm show out in Abu Dhabi and so I was sort of attuned to it, but I was shocked. And I certainly wrote it up for my outlets. But so here we have China, arming Iran, enabling Iran, buying all of Iran's oil, allowing Iran to build up three proxies, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, all to wage war against Israel. And the subsidies, of course, feeding into Iran's massive missile program and its nuclear

4:06weapons program. So China is doing all of this and it's just beginning to succeed in doing the gangster bit to convince the major countries in the Middle East that we should, we should make peace with Iran. And of course, we understand we should be allowing China to come in and dictate things. And turn off Washington, get away from them. They're no longer the big guy on the block. So that's where we were in January. Yes sir. Now President Trump has largely destroyed most of Iran's nuclear sector, most of its missiles, at least we hope, but he has not destroyed the regime. He's weakened it. He's made it more possible than ever before for there to be popular uprisings to finally

5:11get rid of the most egregious terror regime ever in the Middle East. But that hasn't happened yet. The regime is still there. And so now what are the Chinese going to do? Well, they can, they can just sit there and do nothing, but that's not them. That's not how China is going to become the hegemon on earth by doing nothing. So what is it going to do? It's going to do something. It has lots of options. I mean, Xi Jinping could call up Kim Jong Un and say, look, you know, 50 tactical nuclear weapons, Tehran, right now. He could do that. And the the the the air air routes over Pakistan and Iran from China and North Korea are wide open. Not no stopping that. But is is is are the Chinese ready to make that kind of move?

6:14I I wonder and this is what I'm watching for. Because as long as the regime survives, it is a tool that China can fund to cause mayhem. And now that we've tried, but not quite succeeded in taking out this regime, the Chinese have options to mobilize resentment, anger and you know, whenever whenever a nuclear ranch, that ever happened strikes at Israel or the West or the United States, the Chinese now have this this big stick to wave, Ranty. It's your fault. You did it. It's your own damn fault. Yes, we might have helped along with the way with those nuclear weapons, but actually, it's your fault. You America, you did this to yourself.

7:15So we're we're we're at a point where the dust has not yet settled. And yes, the regime could yet collapse, but it hasn't yet. And now the Chinese have to decide on their next move. We go full in and rebuild this regime. We let it collapse and try to get along and and work and undermine something that's more legitimate, more stable, more acceptable to the region and basically play the same game. We're we're we're we're at the proverbial crossroads. And my my my guess is that of course, the Chinese are going to do whatever it takes to displace American power in the Middle East and Latin America, in Europe. Of course, they've already done that in Africa.

8:17The long game will continue. Thank you very much. The one other question I was thinking of as you spoke is isn't there is to me when I look at the map of Iran, even for a country like China, which is on has unlimited manpower, the idea that you could ever finally defeat that country without without a military force on the ground is from the beginning madness. The only thing more mad would be actually sending a military ground force to Iran. So it just as a as a military problem, it's struck me that no one has really thought that or at least we didn't think it through effectively. Well, the lesson of Bosnia was our preparations and threats to introduce American

9:18ground forces is what finally got their attention and and move that conflict on on a path to negotiations. And indeed, Michael, you're absolutely right. The lack of a ground component, the lack of boots on the ground has has has conceded an advantage to the regime has has made it more possible than not that it could survive, that it could rise to be the threat that it once was once again. Now yes, Americans, for good or for bad, are not in the mood, are not up to a meat grinding ground war, even of the type that was was happening in Iraq. However, we could have been smart about this.

10:22I mean, the amount of ground troops that it would have taken to let's say secure the very strategic areas on the straight of hormones to take that Iranian territory. I'm not sure that would have been terribly casualty intensive and I don't mean to sound insensitive to all the listeners who have lost loved ones in over our wars over the last 30 years. But starting Iran on a path to Mullah regime collapse would have been aided more in my estimation by that kind of ground operation or let's say taking 150 C-17s and and capturing a medium size city, a strategic city one that has road and rail linkages to much of

11:25the rest of the country. To do that may have done more than to encourage rebellion. If you take one city, maybe the city next door would be more amenable to an Israeli style internal upheaval, which they could engineer very quickly. So we could have had taken the option of trying to start a domino effect of taking one city, hoping that spurs upheaval in a nearby city and on and on. Quickly leading to an upheaval in Tehran and then you finally have this just monster, this awful human monster by the neck. Colonel.

12:25Mike, I'm just listening. I mean, this is just totally amazing. We haven't had them on in a while. You know, when he's talking about China, you know, Rick has been on top of China for I don't know how many years. We've known him and he's been on with us since six, I guess 16, 17 years of radio. You're not going to hear this. You're not going to hear this on Fox News. You're not going to hear this on Newsmax, OANN. You're not going to hear this anywhere. This is why you come to the two banks and this is why we invite Rick. We wish he would come back more often. But again, we're going to ask Rick at the end of the show where we can visit him, where he's writing and so on. But how many guys, I like this out there. How many people does this Trump administration say, hey, maybe we should talk to this guy. Maybe we should get a better idea. But we voted and we got the lesser of the two evils and now look where we are. And I don't know, I think Rick's one of the best in the field, Mike.

13:29I don't know what to say. I'm just listening. I'm listening to what he's saying. Rick, I really got to congratulate you as always. I mean, you've been on top of it. I guess I know you since what, 1992, 1992. Well, somewhere on the wall. Yeah. It's just, it, it amazes me that you won't hear this. You're going to hear the regular slop when I say the slop, you know, the barbecue, the pull pork. You get Gordon Chang, you get to leave in Lee, you know, about communism, communism, Trevor Howard, or whatever's name is on on network America out loud. You'll get the constant communism thing, but you don't get the background. You don't get the tear of the page and say, well, let's, you know, let's look behind. Let's, let's peel the onion. And here we are. We're peeling the onion. You're not hearing this anywhere. Well, that's that certainly. Yeah. You don't hear it anywhere at all. Even Chinese experts don't talk about it like that. The other Chinese experts that Latin, Latin, like, they're in the same rank with Mr.

14:34Fisher, but it's, it's, it's a funny business. The whole thing is funny in a way, or to me, is that they somehow assumed that a, a nation that has been there for 3,000 years and some people call it a civilizational. I don't know exactly what that means, but length of time or length of their degree of accomplishments. But we didn't seem to have a feel that there was a very, it was very unlikely that the people of such a nation were going to run over to us and form a new government and kill all the bullies and that just seemed to be a piece of madness that that somehow was dreamed up within the bureaucracy or Mr. Trump and his advisors ignored what was told them from the intelligence community or the military community and went ahead with the plan that

15:35was more or less, the result of it at least was more or less to drive support for the Iranian government that was in power at the moment. Well, let's just go back to what he said, the long game. America doesn't play a long game. No, China plays the long game. Iran's been playing the long game. There are two civilizations that are much older than us, you know, and let's, we have to just go back a little bit to back in the 90s. All never before has our American cultural, economic, spiritual and political fabric been more threat-bare. We have to just go back a little bit to back in the 90s when Clinton was president and they were influencing through the Chinese group in Indonesia. And then along came Newt Gingrich, special advisor to Fox News and said, yeah, maybe we got to get them into the world trade and give them a little bit of special treatment here. And we'll be able to sell 8 billion, 8 billion people, I'm sorry, 3 billion people, some of our Pokemon cards maybe, right Rick? I mean, that was back in the 90s, huh?

18:41Dr. Johnathan, I would not paint the picture completely bleak. Mike, we went into this conflict with an ally, a major ally, Israel. And Israel is not going to sit on its hands. Israel is not going to let opportunities just evaporate. The degree to which we've seen Israel, Hubble, Hezbollah, the ingenuity and the just utter guile and force, just for sight that the Israelis have demonstrated since October 2023, leads me to believe that no, the Iran war is not over yet.

19:47The regime is nowhere near safe. And if the United States is not ready or willing to try to attempt some kind of domino campaign in Iran, then I don't think we even have to hold our breath for Israel to give it a try. Is that because of not just the ingenuity, Rick, is that because of the technology and what they have in the capability of the Chinese exported their surveillance state to Iran? You know, tens of thousands of TV cameras on every corner, the unjamable cable linkages, then to super computers, driven artificial intelligence programs to basically recognize everybody's face, everybody's a walking gate.

20:48You were completely surveilled. The Israelis took that whole apparatus and turned it on the Iranian government, turned it into a weapon to find them and kill them. Now if I'm Xi Jinping and I'm sitting in my safe granite concrete bunker, hundreds of feet underground, I'm not feeling well. I'm not feeling safe knowing that Israel has the potential to take the millions of surveillance cameras and the entire apparatus that links that and turn it against me. Seeing me and allow somebody to put a bomb on my head, I just, I take my hat off to the ingenuity in the foresight of the Israeli campaign intelligence personnel and then campaign

21:54planners. They have just understood the battlefield faster and better than most and have exploited the opportunities it offers. And I would not bet on Israel having sat on its hands during any period of ceasefire. They are thinking about the next move. They are helping make the next move possible. And if I'm a mola or even an IRGC cop on the corner with blood on my hands, I would be afraid. Interesting. What do you say, Mike? I say that's exactly where the battle belongs without us. The Israelis have been after this. They have declared publicly. They're going to take other people's territory beyond Syria and other places in the Middle East. They're going to let them do it if they can.

22:56What's the game for us? There's not been an attack on an American for a long time. And we have never before thought that attacks on Americans were the justification for a war with Iran. We've just stepped in the other direction or ignored it or it wasn't well publicized. I've never really understood why we've not taken advantage of the opportunities we've had. As early as 1983, I was looking at it and it's kind of a press way to describe it. The terrorism yearbook that had been put together by the CIA and NSA and other people. And you could view it and you could see both aerial maps taken from either aircraft or satellites and pen and ink drawings.

23:59A virtually every his vala Iranian camp in that part of the world. And yet we never did anything about it. Even when they killed 230 Marines. But the operative word is incremental. Our enemies understand that if we take down the twin towers in the middle of Manhattan, we're going to just drop mountains on your head. And we're going to hunt you down until we get you. They understand that. So we probably did a lot and taught them a lesson. You just you bite you slice you you take you a minuscule step and over over 30 years, 40 years, then you've cornered us on the battlefield.

25:00This is exactly what China has been doing in Asia. Coiling the frog. They've been they've been occupying the South China Sea putting their their hands around the neck of global commerce there since 1974. And since 2017, they've been gradually increasing a de facto military occupation of the territories around Taiwan. They haven't invaded Taiwan yet. But Justin in the last two weeks, they've declared that the waters east of Taiwan are Chinese territorial waters, which is which is tandem out to saying everything from there to the coast of China, including all of Taiwan is theirs and free to occupy. Now, you know, they don't quite they're not quite ready to do that just yet. But once they are, if we just let this incrementalism go on and on and on, then we're we're the

26:06frog that's going to be boiled. And that's this is what's happening in Asia right now. And now is the time to draw the line. Now is the time to say, look, the Chinese are getting ready to build a base at Scarborough Hall. Like they've built seven other bases in the South China Sea. And they're getting ready to start dredging and pouring concrete. And this is this is basically, you know, 200 miles off the coast of Luzon, our treaty ally, the Philippines and and a bit, you know, 800 miles from the coast of highland island China, the main China. This is this is ridiculous. We need to be building prefab platforms taken out by heavy lift helicopters, assembled on Scarborough show, put missile containers, gun gun gun, gun in placements and then you know, everything that we have in the Persian Gulf should be shifted to the Philippines.

27:11And we should be calling Xi Jinping. So look, you know, this is the line, our line, you step over it. We're going to take out your navy. Yeah, we'll lose a lot of ships too, but you will lose your main tool to deliver hegemony for the Chinese Communist Party and they will get rid of you. Rick, do we have the stamina in the Senate and the Congress in the House? Do we have that? I mean, years ago, we used to talk about it a lot, you know, but do they have the wear at all today to even think like that? Well, the Congress is designed to be susceptible to presidential leadership. And you know, on so many levels, Donald Trump has provided that leadership. You know, could you imagine any of his predecessors having decided to even do what was what he

28:14has done to the Iranians? No, absolutely not. So is it possible for the president to exercise the backbone to stand up to the Chinese in their neck of the woods and draw the line and say, do not cross the line? Yeah, it's completely possible. And he is also capable of coming to that decision himself, but will he? We don't know. But question, you know, it's the problem he has is that even if it's the right thing to do at this point in time, it looks like more good money after bed. We're furiously building up for the Chinese on saw in Asia. We need about five years. I'm not sure we're going to have five years. Come on. It's a psych to behold.

29:19Can we do it without a series of skirmishes with the Chinese and prove to them that a skirmish could very quickly lead to their losing their navy? We can do that. And I'm sure that our men and women in the Navy and Air Forces are more than ready to do just that. But they require a leader that is willing to put the Chinese in the corner rather than have us increasingly be put in the Chinese corner. Yes. But I had years ago now, I had an opportunity to work for a while on the Chinese activity in the Pacific Islands, and the Philippines, especially. And it was really to me, it was a very impressive thing that they've done in terms of not only

30:22being influencers on those countries, economies, but putting their own people in there in various kinds of jobs or running gambling facilities, people who sometimes just still wear their own uniforms in the Philippines, for example, while on work, while working. That they've put in people into all of those countries, I think. Well, what they're doing there, Mike, is basically what they're trying to do everywhere around the world, even in the United States. The people, they get a foot in the economy, I mean, they're citizens, then you have all the support systems that come in them. You know, the secret police stations, all the United Front Work supports. It's tentacles. It's like tentacles. It's like 600,000 more students in the United States. Absolutely. Right. It was really an impressive thing, but I stopped to think and I said, wait a minute,

31:25they're going to do this to us too. This is their road to victory. You know, the South Pacific Islands, you do that to isolate Australia and New Zealand. And then you basically secure Antarctica. Secure Antarctica. You have a full and you help dominate, lower authority. You help secure your linkage to the moon and control of the Earth Moon system. I mean, they have a plan. Just the do sir. It's as we see it unfold, it's an ingenious plan. And it's not a rocket science plan. No. You know, you find that the weaknesses, you find the entry points and you take them. And at the same time, you're investing in the economy and the people who run that economy are going to appreciate that. So they're not going to be eager to kill what's going on in them as surreptitiously, I mean. No.

32:25It's a very big problem and a very understudied problem. And Trump for all of his good points, I don't. I don't think he's getting very good advice or he's not listening to it. We have a military that I think in the, as you said, in the performance angles, whether you're at sailors or Marines or Army people or Air Force people, the people that are going to do the demolition or the attacks are probably as good as there is in the world. I'm not so sure about the General Officer Corps. You know, we've been, we've been all kinds of wars. We don't have a single forced air general who's ever served in a war that was won at the moment. And so, to me, the military command is more of a bureaucracy that looks out for itself. Then it is like a regular bureaucracy, rather than the military.

33:27But I could be wrong. I could be a little joined by, John, by decades and decades of not winning wars. And that's got to be a school that the Chinese and the Russians have gone to also very closely. I want to ask a question. So what is the relations, Rick, before we let you go, what are the true relations you believe between Russia and China? Russia is in the process of looking at the Chinese leash in its hands and deciding whether it's a good thing to put the leash on and where it proudly. The Chinese have purchased so much control by their subsidizing of Putin's war in Ukraine,

34:37bringing Putin to the point that he now has to decide whether to expand this war and really cross the line into theater nuclear exchanges. All of that would make China so happy. A weak, a strong Russia that takes down Europe, money in the bank for China. Russia, a weak Russia that collapses and falls into chaos, money in the bank for China because they can move in and start taking lost territories in Siberia. A lot of a stock gets a new name, right? And a lot of other places. So yeah, the Russians have played their China card and are now holding a very losing hand.

35:43Unfortunately, Mr. Putin is so steeped in his own hubris that he can't see it. There are Russians who understand this. I've spoken to a few of them. But Russia is a gangster state and likely always will be. The gangster in charge is beholden to the Chinese communists. And that's what they have now. Thank you very much for that answer.
