RIP HOLLYWOOD: Soon to Be the World's Largest SPIRIT HALLOWEEN?!

This is coming from the Hollywood reporter and they're saying that yeah, Paramount should just pack up and move out of L.A. Yeah, no kidding. We've been saying this and that you know, the Hollywood needs them more than they need Hollywood and they could do this anywhere. But if they would leave, it's going to be detrimental to Hollywood and these dumbasses keep pushing for them to get out and it's not going to be there. Celebrities that might be their jobs to some level, but most of them, the ones are going to be the most impacted aren't the ones you're hearing from. Right. So what's some, what's talking about this now? This isn't op ed piece by Joseph Khan. So he is a veteran Hollywood director, but I think his opinion is shared by many people who actually make decisions in Hollywood and they're just kind of like, yeah, it's ridiculous here. And if we see an indication that we could move out of L.A. and go someplace else and get better tax rate and that basically we would make more profit, then we're going to do the same thing.

1:09And that's what he's arguing. He's like, if Elsa moves paramount out of L.A., which he is threatened to do because of the whole lawsuit with merger, then that is going to be the first domino that gets knocked over and everybody else is going to do the same thing. And that's going to be it. And we saw what happened with tech companies, you know, once Elon Musk moved, they're like, wait, that's the thing we can do. We can just leave. Oh, okay. And then then they were leaving and they were trying to tax them. And when they moved to another state, they're like, well, we're still going to tax you for five years. It's like bullshit, bullshit. 2:18A veteran Hollywood director argues that it wouldn't be the worst thing to happen to the pots possibly soon to be merged studio, but it would be a disaster for Hollywood. Yeah, this is what we keep saying. It's everything we've been saying. Yeah, this is really interesting. You were reading the parts of this in the car. And I'm like, oh my God, this is like we could have written this ourselves. If Paramount Warner Brothers leaves LA, it'll be game over for Hollywood. But David Ellison's newly merged studios will be fine better than fine nobody in Burbank actually likes Burbank anyway. The decision makers, the infrastructure moves. You can throw up a soundstage in Atlanta or New Jersey or in a decommissioned ice cream factory outside of Austin. The Watts gets sold and Mayor Karen Bass rebuild them for the homeless at 2 million per unit. The executive class transfers same as any corporate move and they will discover the scientific phenomenon called weather. That's true. The deals vaporware contracts and e signatures floating in a cloud, which is to say a server farm in Virginia, moving out of LA is more possible than you think because the real asset isn't the sound stages or the office buildings. It's the IP.

3:25Right. And if you actors want a job, they go overseas all time to do the job. They go to go to another state or another location. They go to they were good to George all the time to the marble films. They're going to Canada and the UK all the time now. Yeah, this is the this is the thing. And most of our actors are from the UK now anyway, right? Like I mean, almost all of the marble cast are British. It's very weird playing New Yorkers. But yeah, that's that's the thing. It doesn't matter anymore where you are. It used to be that you had to be in LA to make movies because that's just where the infrastructure was. But with the internet and people's tastes shifting, changing, you can literally be anywhere make movies and it doesn't matter where you're at. And in fact, you will be in a better financial position because you don't have to pay the LA salaries. You don't have to pay the taxes. They mentioned that the workers are going to be better position to they mentioned that later on here. Okay, so they said Paramount Warner's combined property holdings are worth 1.67 billion. Meanwhile, their top 10 franchises have grossed 150 billion Harry Potter, word of the rings DC, Game of Thrones and Star Trek. That isn't a library. It's a row of perpetual ATM machines.

4:38Right. And a lot of those I'd argue aren't as popular as they used to be. And those game mat about it because that's too much didn't care when Disney, you know, they had they kept buying everything up and they didn't care. They didn't say crap when it was Disney. No, they didn't care. The valuation of Batman alone can buy Wayne Enterprises several times over. That's true. Batman is bigger than just a movie or a comic book franchise. It's an IP institution. There's so much stuff with Batman on it that's being sold that you literally could stop making Batman comics and Batman movies and you'd still have plenty of money coming in from Batman. Our daughter loves Batman. Oh, yeah, forever. Like it's same as Spider-Man. Same thing. Ellison isn't overpaying 110 billion for dirt. He's stealth buying the most undervalued industry in America while everyone else shares at the COVID wreckage and mistakes it for the whole picture. Meanwhile, the writers and actors warning you about consolidation do not live in the world. Yeah, exactly because they're like, oh, it's going to be job losses. It's going to be much worse job losses if they if they leave if they don't get.

5:44If they use on the buy it and he pulls out paramount of you know, it's going to be much, much worse. Warner Brothers goes under even worse. If they did, they would understand that nobody spends 110 billion to make less of anything. Corporations don't merge to shrink. They merge to shove product into every screen for that territory and Botox whole available. The agenda is more more product more work, more profit, more more more more more jobs. More taxes for you know, the state since the like that. It's it's that's stopping it's stupid. I mean, whether it was Netflix or Paramount stopping it's stupid. This this is this is like the best line. Disney has been eating companies like a fat hyena and a Costco for decades. And the work didn't contract to expand it for every Fox pipeline. They shut down the replaced it with 10 Marvel shows about torquing hulks. Pre COVID we had an explosion of production so much of it that executives could toss money at Sundance beliefs and green light product. No same person would watch.

6:45And they didn't which is why they had to consolidate now. Hat these people only had careers because of the influx of stock market coupons. It was so indiscriminate that studios hired anyone with an Instagram or a laptop. See also Netflix. Sheerah. The merger and streaming boom created more jobs in any period in the history of the business. Many of them platform filler corporate crimes. This isn't an opinion. It's Greece rise of the pink ladies, which was so bad. I like this person. I like this guy's great party crash when COVID literally shut the town down for years followed by peak TV overbilled. Yeah, this is it was. You were subsidized for years. A lot of these people only knew summer. They came in and they did not know that winner was ever going to happen. We actually started telling people like, hey, there's going to be a contraction because none of this is sustainable like five years ago. We're like this. This shit's not going to last. You cannot. Yeah, the strikes. We're like, that's it. It's a good worst. Those are you left are going to have more, but most of you're going to be gone. Needle that you're talking about you.

Hollywood has been doing this for years by sending films all their places. You've already proven that you don't have to be in Hollywood to do it. So how is it going to hurt him? It's not. It actually would be to his benefit. Literally cutting off your nose despite your face. Well, fine. Go someplace where it's way cheaper and the people aren't complete assholes and not miss roll time.

8:46And you don't have to pay as much in taxes or non-existent. You know. See how you like it then. Yeah, it's if for LA, it would be the death blow. The infrastructure is already suffering with vendors going out of business and crew members quitting. If Paramount Warner's leaves the building advantage of being a mecca for filmmakers with access to top talent props and equipment disintegrates overnight. Studio stockpiles of props, wardrobes, cranes and cameras can truck over to Nashville or Austin. Crews can suddenly live in lower cost states and forward homes and schools for their kids. They may have to pray to baby Jesus a little more, but a little holy ghost power never hurt nobody. Sounds like Dally Parton. RIP. Yeah. So that's actually happening. The contractions started before COVID in some ways. Because Pittsburgh, I mean, they had all kinds of productions here and then they kind of wound all that down. But I think what happened was in Pennsylvania, being Pennsylvania, the taxes are too damn high. And I think they had a period of time where they weren't having to pay taxes or it was lower taxes. And it's like, okay, now we're going to tax you like everybody and they're like, yeah, fuck this.

9:49We're out. We're going into Nevada. We're going someplace else. It's cheaper to film overseas that is to film in your own backyard. You got a problem. Yeah. Right. They said this is not 86 when you have to shoot below the roof of a back lot set. We can extend and digitally enhance anything. Even the last Ghostbusters movie did not take place in New York. I was so disappointed. They had these New York street scenes and they were all CGI. Yeah, you told me we talked about that. Ghostbusters. Like if anything, you're going to film Ghostbusters in New York. I'm like, I thought it looked too clean. It didn't look quite right. Saying up shop and business friendly, film friendly cities has no downside. If the infrastructure moves, every vendor benefits from the lower cost of living for its employees, especially the struggling working class that no one seems to give a shit about in the culture war. Wow. That's actually very true. Yeah, we talked about that many times. Yeah, because most of the people that are being hurt by these decisions are the blue color below the line workers.

10:55A lot of them who have been in the industry for decades and now they're like, hey, I might lose my house. That's why I ought to see is backing the deal, the merger. Yeah. And he talks about how we already lost a lot of companies like Tesla, SpaceX, Oracle, Chevron, Charles Schwab, Hula Packard, Yamaha went to Georgia. This one got me the fucking owner of in and out lives in Tennessee. Yeah, they let me back a while ago because they were going to tax them to death. In and out burger is a California, was a California institution is synonymous with L.A. It's synonymous with Southern California. And when in and out burgers like, you know what? Fuck it. We're out. We're out. And that that should have been a good indication that things were really bad. They're so they don't want to leave. They said they didn't want to leave, but they weren't only giving a choice. When politicians treat businesses as the enemy, the question isn't why Paramount would leave. It's why they should stay and they should be asking attorney general Rob Bonta that too.

11:55Yeah. And these are all things we talked about. They said the 68 countries clear the merger. You know, the illegal merger, the illegal merger, the European Union cleared it, the UK cleared it, China cleared it. Right. Which we brought up. The DOJ cleared it. Sydney United, the trade group representing 30,000 American screens begged both sides to settle. IOTC and the DGA wrote their own letter warning that a March 20, 27 trial guts crew who were already starving. Karen Bass called a press conference to say L.A. productions are a standstill governor Newsom told Bonta to find a way out of the court. And even Bonta's predecessor and Newsom's likely successor once it settled. So literally he's the only hold up. And I think he gets off on that. I just want to say what he thinks the outcome is going to be and how it's going to be beneficial to him. Yeah. This is this is ridiculous. I said, yeah, he's got a TikTok moment at the expense of 53,000 salary Paramount Warner employees and countless working crew. And what's going on now is they're not going to green light news shit until they figure out where they're going to be.

13:00So we're going to see another decline in productions, which means fewer movies and theaters. It means fewer jobs for people. And the longer this gets dragged out, the anger your people are going to get. No, no, start looking at Bonta. And they're going to be like, yeah, yeah, you did this. You we could have solved it because stayed in California, but you fucked around. You found out. And said Bonta gets to be the judge judge, you know, and OJ scoring progressive votes while he also stabs the film industry at death. Wow. That's crazy. So this guy did. Yeah, he did a lot of Taylor Swift videos, Britney Spears videos, M&M videos. And yeah, I think that's a very correct assessment of where things were at. Yeah, it's what they've been saying. It's the same thing. It's just and me while it's other celebrities out there, like it was five two days ago, all these articles and locks that were coming out about the Paramount Warner Brothers thing again. I don't know what the push was for that. But like Jane Fonda still mad.

14:01Like, I really don't give a shit. You want to be able to out of touch? Jane Fonda has been out touched almost her entire life. I mean, probably her entire life because she was from Hollywood. She was a, you know, a daughter baby. Yeah. And so she never has had to deal with reality. A lot of celebrities are moving out of California because it doesn't make sense. I mean, if you, if you have to fly on locations, it made sense to be in L.A. If all the filming was being done in L.A. But if you're going to the UK anyway, you don't have to be in L.A. You don't have to be in California. Just fly in the California, take your meetings or whatever. Then go back home. That's, you know, it doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense anymore. And you can get a lot more house and have a lot fewer crazy people. Not have to worry about the hyperdermic needles and the shit on the sidewalks. And not have to worry about being taxed death. And that's a, that's a big part of it. The taxes are a huge part of it for people. Because when you're a celebrity of like you have a lot more expenses to you have to find creative ways. I think to hide some of your money and they're going to fair it out.

15:03Because that's what this is all about. These blue states and Pennsylvania is one of them too. We talk about it. They, they basically have a lot of lifeers here. And then they have a lot of people that are on the dole. And to keep paying for that, to keep paying for all these free loaders, they're going to juice business owners and juice high earners as much as they can. Because they don't want to actually go out and get a real job. They want to be lifelong politicians. They want to be on welfare forever. And those are the voters. So, you know, I mean, that's just the way it is. So, I don't know. I just say, you know, take the safety net away and fuck it. You know what? The chipsball where they may.
