4:13I love my country. I don't hate it even though there's a lot of weird stuff going on and. I met you in last week that I was. Rather selling and I don't know. I think it's a lot of the fritter. Yeah, I did. These are, these are strange times. These are strange times. Can I give you an idea of how strange? Sure. Just remember you asked for it. No, I'm just kidding. But from. 404 media today. This headline. Published today. Are you ready? Yeah. Are you sitting down? Just kidding. So an AI agent. This is, this is, you know, fairly benign but not really when you consider, I don't know, broader implications. Anyway, an AI agent was banned from creating Wikipedia articles.

5:13But wait, that's not all comma. Then wrote angry blogs about being banned. This is where we're at. Wow. Yeah. I'm trying to digest that. And moving right along. Anyway, these are strange times. Is all I'm trying to say. And there's plenty more weird stuff where that came from. But. Yeah. I'm doing, I'm doing better today. I, I'm buckled in. I'm ready to go. So should be fun. Well, I'm happy to hear that. Mm-hmm. I'm happy to hear that. It's the 14th week. The 89th day of 2026, 276 days remaining. Here we are.

6:13Here we are. I, I suppose if I wanted to get carried away, I could say. Five days, 14 hours, 53 minutes depending on what time zone you're in. To Easter. And so less than a week. 214 days, 15 hours and change to Thanksgiving. 269 days and change to Christmas. And last but not least. 276 days to New Year's. Wow. So there you go. There you go. And it'll be here tomorrow. Yeah. Seems like loose pretty fast. Mm-hmm. That's a fact. So there's that, there's March madness.

7:14And it's pretty mad. Well, I kind of lost interest after after our hometown Spokane team got defeated. Or if we could throw this, I wonder if I could throw this clip at Julie that we could play. You probably didn't hear about the madness of the Yukon Duke game. Did you? No. Okay. Let me see if I can. I wonder if this conveys. What happened? Let's see if we can do this. Can we do this? There we go. Does that work?

8:15Let's see if that works. So I'm going to just give you a little background. Here's a story from the sporting news NFL star call calls for Kaden Booser investigation after Duke's elite eight loss. So the final elite eight game of the men's NCAA tournament on Sunday. I mean, I don't want to be a hater, but I don't understand the women's stuff. It's just not exciting. I'm sorry, but I don't know. There's a reason the WNBA says, you know, we need to get paid like men. And was it Mark Cuban? Somebody said, well, you know what? If you're as exciting as the men's stuff, well, then it's just simple capitalism. But since it's all it's about. So anyway, I was thinking about that yesterday, but that sounds that's not, you know.

9:18That's not sunny. So anyway, the final elite eight game provided an exciting finish. Yukon versus Duke was supposed to be a competitive matchup. No one was. No one watching the first half was prepared. For what would happen in the final 10 seconds. And with Duke up 72 to 70, I'll just sort of set the stage. Hopefully you can play the clip because it's pretty crazy. With Duke up 72 to 70 and inbounding the ball. Most everyone watching expected Duke to run out the clock or face free throws. As both teams were in the bonus. What happened next started off as clinical execution and developed into one of the biggest mistakes in NCAA history.

10:22It's one of these kinds of things. So, okay, let's play the clip. Go ahead, please. Goods to go. Got to cut and run through the ball. Who better than the sky? Get it in the blue, go back. There's a sharp ahead. Bruiser that ball deflected and stolen by Mullins. Caravan two seconds. Mullins tosses it up. It's good. We're poor three. Yukon goes in front. Goods to go. Absolutely. Mayhem. So, what happens is baseline inbound pass went to Cam Booser who was immediately trapped by two Yukon defenders. Booser passed it back to the inbounder who then passes it to Cam's brother, Caden Booser, who was then trapped near half court. At this point there are two options. Abounce pass to either Duke teammates on opposing Elbows of the far three point line or let Yukon foul.

11:29Instead, Caden asks to try to pass over the top, which was then deflected and stolen by Braille and Mullins. So, two seconds later, Mullins hits a logo three, as they say, to take the lead with 0.04 seconds remaining. Yukon basically steals the win. So, Green Bay Packers linebacker Michael Parsons says, you know, he posted on X. This needs to be investigated. Bro, I can't lie. I'm a agent. Wow. Did somebody throw a game? Anyway, crazy. Wow. What do you think? You know, stuff happens. This would be hard to choreograph, but stuff happens. It was, yeah, why would you do that?

12:32It is an uncharacteristic mistake. At that level, you wonder how someone does something like that. And it's interesting. You know, it's interesting that an NFL linebacker says we should investigate signs of the times. Yeah. Mitzi, signs of the times. I tell you. Well, I think some really strange things happened, officiating the Gonzaga game too. Yeah. I think it was some word about challenging that. I don't know if that ever happened. Yeah. It's interesting. So we're not going down rabbit holes for just observing this Monday. It's interesting. Okay. Yes, it is. It is interesting. I tell you. I agree. I do have a strange stuff happening. Speaking of strange stuff in March madness, the most madness happened on Saturday.

13:35And I'm not talking about UFC, which also was interesting. Israel, out of Sonya. And, you know, that's, that's an interesting, that's an interesting thing. I was going to be a little facetious. But so the, the no Kings thing. Did you catch any of that? No. I, I did, I didn't hear about it. My carrier flew though. Yeah. Is interesting, interesting stuff. So the UFC thing, out of Sonya versus Piper, you probably have a grandson who was. I don't know. Watching that. But the thing that's pretty crazy, I don't know if we want to talk about this. It's Monday. But, you know, real stuff. Joe Piper. I wonder if I can find a clip of that.

14:36I'm sure I could. He in the post fight interview with Daniel Cormier. Excuse me. He talked about that he almost took his life a couple of weeks before this fight. And so. What? Yeah. I think it's crazy that somebody at this level just sort of, it just sort of speaks to things. You know, I mean, I, one of the most shocking things like this that I've heard in recent years is hearing a certain young man who graduated from high school say something similar. I just think, what? That is crazy. I never would have guessed. So this guy is preparing for the fight of his career, you know, career making fight against Israel

15:38and, you know, after the fight, he shares this deal, you know, that he was struggling. And so, anyway, there's more to the story. There's a story in MMA, for example, Joe Piper details dark days leading into UFC Seattle fight. I almost took my own life and says, I almost took my own life a couple of weeks ago. He told Daniel Cormier on the mic in the cage. And I found God and I hate crying man. So I'm going to keep it together. God restored me. That's the only reason I'm here. Wow. Amazing. At UFC Seattle's post-fight press conference, Piper gave a few more details into what was going on in his life. I was born into chaos and a mess up family as many children are, he said.

16:43It's not like my story is super special compared to anybody else's, but I was a victim of my own self-destruction I had. Last issues, I had this toxic cycle of coping. Nothing drug related or anything like that, but I had a dream where I was disgusted about who I was. I broke a lot of people's hearts around me. And particularly one person that I will never heard again, he added. And, you know, I was disgusted with myself, so I went and got therapy. In this dream, he says, I feel like God chose me and took my hand and gave me a restored life, a renewed life. The only thing I can say is that I feel like all the pressure of the world is gone. All the expectations of the world is gone. And I feel like a true free person. This whole week has been beautiful with my team and all the support of my coaches just showing them that you can change.

17:45And you can be better, you can be a better man. And that God is real. Jesus is real. And there's certain ways that you're called to live. And those are the ways that I followed. So. And that happened to be such a dream? Yeah, the dream was definitely part of it. Wow, that's a, that's a great story. Yeah, and he says, you know, it's interesting because he says I was a believer. I was a Christian, but Luke warm with it, which is interesting. A lot of folks, including myself would argue that this is the age of the Leo to see in church in Revelation chapter three. The church that basically says as the kids say these days, I'm good. But when Jesus, you know, his talk to him and it says actually you're wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. So, but he says I was Luke warm.

18:46He said later, I'm a believer. I'm a Christian, but I'm out there and messing with women or doing this or doing that. Just not godly. There's no downside to living by Christian morals. If you don't respect that, that's fine, but give yourself the opportunity for true freedom. Anyway, interesting story, interesting story. And he was, he was the guy that was in the fight this weekend. Yeah, it was the main event. This is the main event of the evening. What? Did he win? Yes. Second round, T.K.L. Wow. Wow. 24:31Welcome back. That's weird, where'd that come from? Well, that came from today in history. On this day, in 1981, chair, it's a fire directed by Hugh Hudson and starring Ben Crosson, Ian Charlson, premiered at a Royal Command Film Performance. So, I remember seeing, yeah, I remember seeing chariots of fire at the, was it the lantern theater on the South Hill? No, that was downtown. Okay, what was the one? There was the one in Lincoln Heights that was the main one that got turned into the pizza parlor, didn't it? Yeah. And then there was the one on the corner down there on the, what would that be, the west end of the, of Lincoln Heights Shopping Center? Wasn't there one down there?

25:32I don't remember that. I thought the lantern was downtown. Well, I thought there was a theater down on the end anyway. I remember seeing it somewhere in Lincoln Heights Shopping Center in Spokane, Washington. Or was it Gandhi? Anyway, it was probably Gandhi. This is, you know, this is how rumors get started. But in any case, chariots of fire debuted on this day in 1981. Oh, there, there you go. Yeah, fun fact. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. So I have some, yeah, I have some other stuff, but do you, what do you have today? Do you want to? Well, I'm back up in the Pacific Northwest.

26:34I'm up in the, in the northern eastern corner of Washington again. I spent a lot of time with family this weekend and I got an opportunity to observe my three and a half, a little over three and a half year old granddaughters, gymnastics class, which was really, really fun. And I had a chance to go to one of my grandson's rugby tournaments and that was really, really, really fun. And then I spent quite a bit of time with another son, my middle son and his family yesterday. So I got here on Friday and I have spent a lot of family time, which has been really nice. And probably one of the highlights of Saturday, you know, gas prices in Idaho over this, over the state line,

27:40are about a dollar cheaper a gallon than they are in Washington. And so while I was... What is the number between Washington and... 499 in Washington, 399 in post falls. Hmm. How do Washingtonians feel about that? Well, a lot of them drive over to Idaho. You know, I mean, it's kind of insane and it shouldn't make any sense to... 28:40And I had a delightful experience. I went to go inside the gas station after I pumped my gas. And there were two young men, kids that looked like they kind of had a hoodlum look about them. And they were in front of me. And so I, you know, I thought, well, they're just going to go in the store. And all of a sudden, one of them stopped and opened the door and held the door for me. And I was said, oh, my gosh, thank you so much. What a nice surprise. And so I went to the bathroom and got a snack and went up to check out. And they were behind me. And I said, I would like to pay for these young men's drinks. They had a couple of drinks. And I said, I'd like to pay for these young men's drinks. And they went, oh, well, thank you. 34:50Her first album was, you could never top it. I thought she was older than that. But I couldn't bring myself to suggest that we put her in the rotation since she's basically a satanist. So I can't bring myself to do that. It's scary how blatant she is about that. Yeah. And you know, so that tells you something. You didn't go looking for it. It came and found you. Oh boy. Richard Sherman. Richard Sherman. Go ahead. Well, I was just going to kind of finish my little tie rad. So that was just a wonderful experience with those two young men because they were grateful.

And then another highlight of my weekend. Of course, that's always a highlight spending time with people you love. It's a really lovely visit. And some wonderful things came out of that. Because as I think I've mentioned, she has me writing. She has me writing essays every day. And it's really been fun. It's really been fun jogging my memory about some things. She asked that I write about 750 words, which is about two handwritten pages. And she gives me four words to include in the essay and a prompt.

36:57And so anyway, it's just been really fun. I could read you one if you wanted me to. Sure. Go ahead. Well, here's one that I wrote yesterday that I thought was really fun. The words were lamp, lamp, love, and lie. And the subject that prompt was when I was a little girl, I believed that. And when I was a little girl, I believed that I could do just about anything that I set my mind to. And it had everything to do with my mom. She was fearless. When she was young, she smoked. I think she drank a little alcohol and she was very beautiful and provocative. My whole family on both my mom and dad's side lived their lives in close proximity to each other in Rolla, Missouri. There were a few exceptions. When I was five, my mom decided we were not going to be a permanent fixture in Rolla. Somehow, we ended up in Denver, Colorado, in a trailer, and by 40, in the trailer park.

38:02By the airport, and my dad had a job at a construction company. He went to work for John Hopkins, who had a small, but very tight knit crew. It turned out to be a second family for me. Between the ages of 5 and 18, I went to 13 different schools and lived in 25 different places. My mom loved it. She had, and it loved it. She had a true, jifty heart. When we needed to go to the next job, my dad would fire up his big red truck, look it up to our trailer, and off we would go to the next job at the next town for the next job. Roads, missile sights, dams, etc. And my mom always had new projects and hobbies that would consume her even if she had to work by a lamp. Some things I remember, burning up for four mixers, teaching herself to make the candy called Divinity before she quit. Teaching herself how to knit, because I wanted a black sweater in the second grade that is a story by itself,

39:06making Barbie doll clothes, making cracked marbles, making clusters of plastic graves that are resin, making wall hangings that apply wood shaped like chickens and roosters and decorating them with dried vegetables, going to the horse races, being among the first to thrift shop, and of course playing lots of cards including poker, a lot of poker. I can't lie, it was always something, and she was a stay-at-home mom, and she was restless. I think it made my dad limp. But the love she had for me was huge. She played with me a lot. I was an only child. We did puzzles, played games, played cards, and I am so lucky to have had her for a mom. So that was one of my essays yesterday. What do you think about that? That's pretty good. I had kind of forgotten about a lot of those crazy things that they would do. Oh yeah, and they made tables out of tiles. I mean, she and her friends were just crazy. And when they went through the horse racing phase, we were in California, and she and some of her friends figured out that right after we went to school,

40:17if they hot-footed it down to Santa Anita, racetrack, they could play the horses and get back by the time we got out of school. I mean, how many moms do stuff like that? Sure. Very colorful. Well, anyway, it was fun. It was fun jogging my memory about some of those things. And I've written some more, and so I'm so grateful that my friend Kim was encouraging me to do this, because it's really fun. It sounds fun. Very fun. And I mean, it sounds like a good exercise for jogging your memory, but also a fun trip down memory lane. Yeah, really. Honestly, it is. I just have so much fun doing it. Anyway, so I just wanted to throw that in, because it felt real sunny to me.

41:21And I had kind of forgotten about how fearless Granny was in her younger years, and she wanted to do things and try things. And she would teach herself a lot of stuff, which I think was hilarious, and there wasn't even YouTube. There wasn't even YouTube. How did we live? Right. Or email that you could, you know, violate people with. That was fun. I didn't include that in a list either. I'm going to have to write a whole other story about more things. Right on. Very funny. Well, it sounds like it's been a fun exercise for you. It has. It has.

42:23Very cool. There's a lot of things that have happened that in the last few months that are turning into good habits, which I really appreciate. Well, good. Yeah, walking and exercising and lots of good stuff and writing is one of them. Well, that's good to hear. Good to hear. Well, that's fun and sunny. So we, we don't need, we don't need to talk about the no Kings thing. We sort of, we mentioned it in passing. Do we talk about tiger troubles? Oh boy, I kind of don't want to talk about that. That's a little depressing.

43:26Okay. I mean, you can. In the news again, this time I roll over crash. Who knows? Who knows? I wonder what Dick Gregory would say. Exactly. I thought the same thing. You know, I mean, there were the suspicions last time that he was under the influence. But they did a toxicology and it was 7 a.m. And they said, well, he wasn't drinking, but maybe he was on meds. But, you know, then when the LA County Sheriff came out and said, we have, we have figured out what caused the crash. And they said it was the high rate of speed. I thought, gosh, that's weird. You know, what caused the high rate of speed? But they didn't, didn't happen to mention that. So it was strange.

44:26I don't know. I think maybe, you know, it would be interesting to see what would happen if he got himself an old 1978 Ford pickup or a, you know, Chevy pickup or something. Could it be I Jack? Maybe, maybe. And that, you know, you can't put on autopilot or whatever you got to drive. I don't know. I don't know. So that's interesting. I mean, if you're, if you're a guy like that, do you really, do you really? I mean, I just, a guy who, it just doesn't, it doesn't. You know, if I'm, if I'm playing Colombo, it doesn't. Excuse me, sir. Just one more question. You know, it doesn't make sense. A guy like that who has been so meticulous about things. I mean, you could say sure people have problems or whatever, but, you know, he's pretty meticulous about most of his life.

45:30And so, I don't know. That's just pretty reckless to do that kind of a thing repeatedly is very uncharacteristic, I would think. I would think so too. You know, so anyway, it's very strange. I thought so. I thought so. You know, let's moving right along. You have said, you know, what, eat the frog? Yep. The thought for the week is swallow a live toad in the morning. And the day can't get any worse. How's that? I like it. I like it. Yeah, my, my friend, I have a friend that attended the, the, the no kings thing at, at the park with thousands of other people.

46:35And, you know, she said it was very peaceful and she enjoyed it a lot and got a lot out of it. And I appreciate that. You know, I mean, I, I appreciate the fact that, that, you know, that, I mean, this is the country that people can, can have opinions and, and protest. And that's, that's a luxury and all that sort of thing. But then when Kim and I were talking about it, you know, she, she actually sent me a thing that she read. Or, you know, that she saw. And it was, you know, I really appreciated it. It was, the warrior's approach is to say yes to life. Yeah, to it all. Participate joyfully in the sorrows of the world. We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live and joy. When we talk about settling the world's problems, we're barking up the wrong tree.

47:35The world is perfect. It's a mess. It has always been a mess. We're not going to change it. Our job is to straighten out our own lives. Which means, you know, there's a lot to be said to that about straightening out our own lives, you know? Anyway, I, I, as you know, I mean, I, and I, and I sit on the fence and, you know, I know that it's kind of a, you know, I kind of embarrassed myself by saying that I'm uninformed about a lot of the, the, the things that are on the top of the list, but, you know, sometimes you just do have to take care of yourself and try to, and try to, um, straighten out your own mess. Well, I mean, sure, I think the problem with that is, you know, someone used to say on a regular basis, there are a lot of, you know, certain type of people there.

48:41Well, there aren't that many actually, but they, they get around a lot. So it seems like there are a lot more of them. So, and they make life difficult for the rest of us. And there is, there is a weird, you know, um, dynamic, I guess, to things that are happening. I mean, there's no denying that we have evolved into or progressed into a more narcissistic and self-absorbed society. And there's a weird, I don't know, thing that happens when, you know, you have people who become narcissists than the other people defending themselves, so to speak, have to behave in abnormal sorts of ways. It makes you harder as a person, generally more cynical, I guess, to deal with narcissistic people. And, um, I don't know, maybe some other things that I get too far off the, the market path.
