I'm tired of this dirty old city And tired too much work and never eaten a plate And I'm tired of this dirty old sidewalks Think I'll walk off my steady job today Turn me loose, set me free Somewhere in the middle of Montana

Give me all I've got coming to me And keep your retirement and your so-called social security Big city, turn me loose, set me free Good morning Good morning and welcome to Road Warrior Radio You're tuned in live this Monday March 9th, 2026 on the Morning Only Republic Broadcasting Network end as always Thanks for coming along for the ride It's an interesting ride And we're going to try to stay on the sunny Monday side Despite, well, you know, everything As you undoubtedly see So it's a Monday and that means we're joined by my mom

Mitzi, good morning Mitzi Good morning Christopher, how the hell are you? I see a lot of doom in my scroll But you know what? The sun is breaking outside So maybe it's a foreshadowing Maybe it's a good sign Well, it's a sunny day here And you folks up there had daylight savings time Well, us folks down here didn't So we're an hour closer now than we were Which is interesting Yeah, for sure I saw something this morning on CNN I feel like I should waste about three and a half to four minutes of your life And play it because it would be I don't know, interesting Maybe it would be if nothing else It would be a nice distraction from So we get it out of the way Is it sunny?

I think I would leave that to the discretion of the listener Okay, good Let me see if I can fire this over to Julie real quick Yeah, I think that I will let you decide And you tell me what you think if it's sunny Great It's one of those kinds of things Okay, I'm not sure that it's cut and dried I'm not sure that it's There are some things about it that are Well, I'm going to reserve comment And let's see here I'm going to hold my thoughts until we play it and

And then we'll UNI will compare notes And I don't know, maybe people listening will Have something to Okay And teams seems to want to do its The usual strange thing this morning so CNNs the odds It might as well be The original odd couple was Jack Lemmon and Jack Clogman, wasn't it? Yes So I know Walter Matthew, Walter Matthew, Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthew In the television show Oh, that was Tony Randall and Jack Clogman

Ah, yes, yes, yes, yes Might as well be those two, this is an interesting thing So I'm going to leave it at that I'm going to leave it at that You should see it but it's probably enough just to hear it And so it's awful And I'm sorry but not sorry for wasting Just under four minutes of everyone's life to do this It's Monday It's Monday, let's just get on with it, shall we? Julie, please go ahead All right, we are now officially in daylight saving time We sprung forward Yay, see it in Chief Data Analyst, Harriet and is here And I'm sort of faux celebrating because this is one of my favorite subjects Where I believe there is faux and misplaced outreach

People get very angry about their own saving time And I'm not sure they fully understand why So let's talk about how people feel about changing the clock twice a year I will note that your intro got some real applause here within this video, John Berman One of the best intros of all time Look, people are perturbed like this idea We do not like this idea of losing an hour of sleep We do not like this idea of jumping forward And we've seen that in the polling data What we see is that the majority of people do not, do not, do not want to spring forward Look at this, stop changing the clock twice a year 64% of Americans say yes, we favor the idea of stopping the madness So we hear, and this is why I call it faux outreach Because I don't actually think people understand what they're angry about Because the idea, isn't the idea to get the most sun you can over the course of the day, the most daylight? Yeah, I mean this is the issue, right? Okay, so if we're going to have this whole idea of we're going to actually, you know, change and stop changing the clocks

Well, what the heck are we actually going to do about it? And Americans on this particular topic seem to be dare I say quite confused when it comes to actually doing something about it So if we look at the polling, what we would see is something that is not aligned with this Which is all standard time, all the, what we see is the sunrise, pre-730 AM and sunset post 530 PM 72% of the year, if you want that, the national average, 72% You actually want all standard time compared to this idea of daylight saving Hey, this is where we get the most sun, the most sunlight In fact, that is the least, the least sunset of the year, you just get 60% Where you would get the pre-730 AM In all the noise is people saying we want all daylight saving time all the time, which is why that slide is so important there It actually gets you the least amount of sunlight of the three possible options there Very few people seem to be yelling all the time for all standard time But what do the polls say about this? If people had to choose one or the other, what would they say? Yeah, this really gets it sort of the heart of the issue, which is

We're confused folks, we're confused, get your head around it people Okay, so if you're going to make a sub, right? What you see is, is that you get a plurality, you get a plurality of people who say that they want daylight saving time You see 38% who want that, but of course that differentiates itself from what would actually give you the most sunlight Which is all standard time, but even here this idea, oh we're going to change out the current system Well, what are you going to change it out with? All daylight saving or all standard time and you don't get a majority either way And this is the big issue We know we want to change from the current system, we don't like the current system But which one do we choose? We are all for Clint, and all very very good It's because people are as angry for the sake of being angry until they really think about what it all means I'm not going to take any more genre So in terms of what people think will actually happen, will there be a change anytime soon? No, if you look at the cowshoe prediction market, you know, we've always been talking about this idea Oh, maybe Congress will act, maybe there'll be some law that will be passed by Congress and sign a law by the president But if you look at the prediction markets, they're going to say, no, we're just going to stick with the same old system

that we've been going on for a long period of time now in this country Well less than a 50% chance that Congress will actually do something about So people can stay angry even if they don't fully understand why I'm going to stick my head out the window and yell, we're sticking with the current system Harriet, and thank you very much Thank you Sorry, not sorry There you go That's four minutes, you'll never get back Goldie Goog Yeah, what do you think of that? Well, I think that I have experience, isn't this funny, Chris? I feel like it, and I think it is kind of sunny, I think it's fun You know, I've experienced daylight savings time both in the fall and in the spring from Phoenix, Arizona And it's just really been hilarious because, you know, six months ago

People in Pacific Standard Time, and of course the other time zones too, except for a couple of states They'll back, and now they're springing forward And I just get up and have another day just like the other day And I think it's hilarious because, you know, it seems to be kind of a moot point to me Having kind of experienced it from both sides, and you know, last Monday We did the show in my time in Phoenix from 9 to 11 And now, this Monday we're back from 8 to 10, which I actually prefer, I like it better But I just think it's very funny and interesting What do you think? I don't think it's, first of all, I wonder why we're shouting on Monday morning

I think that if there was ever a dysregulated person that's Harry Enten Chief Data Analyst, Harry Enten, maybe his suit is too tight He needs to find a suit that actually fits But it's, I don't understand the yelling in that, what was that, that cackle at the beginning? My goodness, holy cow So I don't think it's, you know, this is not, this is not, especially considering what's going on these days I don't, this is like a non-thing, this is not an issue And I don't hear people talking about it, concerned about it, sure I mean, it's something we notice and you know, maybe it does disrupt certain functions

You know, there's the argument that it is disruptive, say, to like, you know, the circadian rhythm or something But it's not, it's not what's being made here And I feel like the shouting is part of the attempt to make something out of nothing So for me, I don't know, it's just the reason that I thought this was something was the spectacle that John Berman and Harry Enten in particular are making it It's nothing, it's not a big deal Well, and you know, the observation too that I have in Phoenix is that we're so much closer to the, what do you call it? What's the line that goes around the middle of the earth? I forget

Anyway, we're closer to the equator, I couldn't think of that for a second But you know, so our time for daylight, I mean for sunset and sunrise, doesn't change a whole lot all year long I mean, it's pretty small compared to how much more or less daylight that happens the further north you get And so, I mean, I can see where, you know, I know that when I was up north all the time that it was kind of a big deal And because the thing that goes away in the fall is your, you know, well, you know, is your morning daylight And then, you know, you get into winter and so many people say, I go to work in the dark and I come home in the dark But the changes when you get closer to the equator are so much less noticeable I mean, there's some, but not a huge amount So, anyway, I just, it's been really fascinating because I was down here for the fall and the spring and it's very interesting

Well, all of that's going to be fixed now that we're doing the thing with Iran because headlines So, you know, maybe, maybe we don't have to walk off our steady job, maybe the steady job walks off without us I digress, let's see, where is the one headline that I saw yesterday that I feel like reality is going to come to Roost now Where is it? Is it this right here? Wall Street braced for huge sell-off as gas prices hit $8 a gallon, Daily Mail So, they're telling us that from across the pond, but that was the headline that I saw yesterday that comes to mind here

I mean, interesting, but that's, we got to be careful, I mean, so what do we do? What do we do? Honestly, you know, this is what's happening Do we, do we not talk about it? What do we do? Well, I think we talk about it Yes, it is Chris, and you've been predicting things for a long time, I know that Yeah The thing about that that's astonishing to me is how many people are experts that have no idea what they're talking about That couldn't point to Iran on a map, for example, people joke and say Donald Trump probably couldn't, but I mean, seriously You know, people who are saying things and they don't understand the, let's say, geo-political significance of the straight-of-formos

And I don't know, I did, I did, I will say, last week I put together a thing that I haven't published yet It was Thursday, I put together a thing, a little table, and just kind of saying, you know, here's what I think we can expect, the concern And it was my little table of, like, these are some concerns, here are some likely, you know, what the likely reaction to that would be And the probable result or outcome of all of that, and there's, you know, without getting into the weeds on, is any of this contrived, and so on and so on I just put these out, and immediately, the very next day, the headlines start reflecting that, we're in day 10, I think, of this thing, and it's not, you know, from, let's say, just a purely media standpoint, it's not going well

I don't think that's by accident, but again, not getting into the weeds, so, I don't know, it's just, it's interesting to see, I, I can mention the list, I don't think it's terribly unmunded, it's just observations, but, I don't know, maybe we can, maybe we can talk about that But yeah, I did, I, I have had some observations along the way for the last 20 years or so Or so Yeah, sure Okay, you were, what were you going to say? Oh, Chris, can I tell you something, they just warmed my heart yesterday Nice segue Do I sound like you're granny? We are 50 seconds away from the break

Oh, let's wait till we get done, wait, let's wait till after the break, because I wanted, I wanted to tell a little story Yeah So anyway, well, you know, what I will share with you, you know, I've been, I've been doing, I've been doing some collaborating with our friend Kim that we had on the show a few weeks ago And so she's been prompting me on writing essays, so I've got, I've got a, you know, a little arsenal of essays And so I got my, my latest assignment, which the subject is intentional moments, I haven't written this essay yet, it's going to be done today But my prompt is, what would I spend my time doing if I knew I had only seven days, 13 hours, 29 minutes, and 57 seconds left under We'll find out when we come back, maybe Yeah All right, on that note, we'll be right back
