ROCKETS POSTCAST: Houston Rockets Blow 13 Point Lead In OT, Suffering Pathetic Loss To Timberwolves

You know, it's not often that you do a show where you are required to talk that you come

Because we just watched in the last hour possibly the craziest into a basketball game that

we're going to see and it ended in an absolutely pathetic fashion for the Houston Rockets

after they blew multiple opportunities and blew a 13-point lead and over time to lose

to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

I'm your host Michael Conner after the Rockets lose to the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight

and over time in absolutely pathetic fashions, the only way to put it.

One 10 to 108, the Rockets 43 and 29 out in the season now.

They dropped a couple in a row in this road trip.

Everything that could have been for tonight, which was finally getting a series victory

over somebody does not happen because the Rockets decided to, well, forget how to play basketball

at the end of over time tonight.

A lot of things to talk about, but what's probably the biggest?

This is what you'll be talking about.

Oh, I don't know the fact that you had a 13-point lead with what?

About two and a half, three minutes left in the overtime period.

And then you just forgot how to play basketball.

You got completely comfortable.

You just decided, ah, we got this in the bag.

And you lost the basketball game.

The Rockets finished at one, I think it was like a 23-2 run or something from the fourth

quarter into overtime to get it to a 13-point lead.

And then you just said, bleep it.

They got cocky.

Think about the sequence of things that happened tonight.

This is unbelievable.

The way that the fourth quarter ended where you climb all the way back, Durant with

a big, ah, dunk, Alpy with a huge dunk, you get things tied up.

You have a chance there to go and win the game.

Kevin Durant sloppy with the basketball.

Another Kevin Durant turned over because he is just so incredibly lazy at times with

the basketball.

Alpy comes and saves the day with a massive block to send it to overtime.

Oh, this after, by the way, of course, the game was tied because Rudy Gober who saved

the day for the Minnesota Timberwolves goes ahead and pulls a dumb move and fouls Alpy

before the ball is imbounded by basically taking him by the neck and throwing him to the

ground, getting himself a six foul of the game.

Given the Rockets, the two free throws plus possession there, then they screw it up.

Then Alpy saves the day.

Then we go to overtime.

Things get nuttier.

The Rockets go nuts because they're building off of them a minute and they build the

13 point lead.

Nas Reed gets ejected from the game all for the Rockets to find a way to blow it.

How, how, how, how, like I said, to start the show, I'm not supposed to come on to

a show and tell you, I don't know what to say to an extent, but part of me just goes,

I don't know what to say, like every, every bit of nuttiness that could have happened

in a two minute span in the end of the, into the fourth quarter and at the end of the

overtime happened.

It feel a lot better if it went your way, but it's all self-inflicted.

It's the same crap over and over with this basketball team, it feels like we're getting

down to the home stretch of this thing where you keep doing these kind of things and

man, I don't know.

I do not know.

I didn't tell you this, I'm telling this.

Uh oh, somebody messed up and it's time to let them know with who fudged up.

I mean, it's so messed up that the dang video is not going to play for our feature here

because the game was so nuttier.

They all messed up.

And think about this too.

We didn't even talk.

They went, this team went tonight, I mean, they couldn't make a shot to save their lives

the first three quarters of this game.

Kevin Durant was abysmal the night shooting the ball and he goes just red hot and they

looked horrible offensively tonight, absolutely horrible.

I was planning and preparing to come on here and be like, hey, you know, another night

of sluggish this, sluggish that, they looked really bad.

The ball didn't move around.

They were sloppy.

What's they store all of those things?

But then they went bananas and it's the same kind of story as the Chicago game the other

night.

You know, the Chicago game, you let a bad team, the Minnesota symbols are not bad team.

They're ahead of you in the Western conference.

They are the five seed.

I haven't checked the updated standing.

So rocket.

Guess what?

The rockets didn't move tonight guys.

They're staying in the six seed.

They're not going to win the season.

They still have one more matchup with the Timberwolves, which they still can win the season

series.

But that's the honest.

That's probably not happening at this point.

Yeah, they've won in one.

They've got them again on the 10th of April at Toyota Center for another eight thirty

tip.

You know, we're on we're on the West Coast for sure.

Rockets now game and a half behind Minnesota, who's the five.

They're three and a half out from the Lakers who are the three.

They're basically entrenching themselves into the six and they better pray to you know

who that they don't find a way to screw it up enough to where they fall all the way

down to the 70 now take that would take a serious, serious, serious collapse.

But I do wonder.

I do wonder.

After the loss of Chicago, we're again, you play, now you played a bad team there.

Now the like I mentioned, the Timberwolves were without Anthony Edwards tonight.

So you're playing a bad team in Chicago, you let them get out to a just scorched earth

start.

Minnesota kind of got off in one of those starts early in the game.

And then you you claw back and I think Craig Ackerman mentioned in the, or described

it best in the broadcast coming out of the half.

It was a rock fight in the first half forty four forty three and a half.

I just ugly basketball, you know, the officials play a huge part in this game tonight.

They're constantly blown whistle.

I feel like we had more reviews of everything that we've ever had in the back.

It was ugly man.

It was a, it was not from a basketball viewer standpoint game.

It was not a game to watch until the end if you love nutting this.

And you know, but you kind of you just let things linger and Minnesota has been good without

Anthony Edwards.

They've had a really good record without Anthony Edwards, but he's not played, which is

obviously surprising given how important he is to that basketball team.

But this is just one of those games night, you know, you're, you're coming back off of

that game against Chicago, you're expecting a little bit more punch from this basketball

team.

They didn't have it.

They didn't have it at all.

They couldn't hit anything from the outside again.

Hell leading into the, I think if you go, let me pull up the, I've got the third quarter,

up to the third quarter box score here.

Through the first three quarters of play tonight, the Houston Rockets, that's not as bad as

I thought.

They must have hit a few in the third quarter.

The third quarter, they hit, they actually didn't only hit one, but there were six of

17 from three after the first three quarters.

They were actually atrocious in the fourth quarter, but they hit a bunch of other shots,

which is crazy.

And Minnesota wasn't unbelievable.

I just, I'm dumbfounded.

I truly am.

I think that's the word.

If you're going to give it one word tonight to describe it, what would it be?

You can throw it into the comments.

Um, you know, everything about it, I think one of the most frustrating things is watching

how they executed the end of the game.

I mean, this team is lacking an offensive identity, and I'm not going to do the e-mail

a doke thing tonight.

I'm going to be perfectly honest with you guys.

I haven't done a lot of these shows.

You don't know my opinion on it.

I think the e-mail, a doke topic that everybody on the internet has created is downright

lazy and silly.

Um, every coach has a flaw.

I think we are so quick in society to just think that everybody is terrible and everybody's

got to go the minute anything goes poorly.

And overall, they're a good basketball team, still they're winning.

Like, do they need some help in terms of my offensive identity?

Absolutely.

Do they need to reevaluate maybe how they execute an offensive game plan as a coaching

staff?

Absolutely.

But I'm not going to entertain the, this guy's got to go.

This is why they're losing.

They're losing and they're doing these things because they are a flawed team.

As we've talked about many circumstances this season, they don't have a point guard,

which is massive.

And you see it.

They're at the end of the game and they're going to put the ball like Durant is an all-time

legend.

One of the greatest to ever play this game.

But Kevin Durant's on a point guard.

Kevin Durant doesn't need the ball in his hands.

He doesn't need to facilitate.

They need to be facilitating around him to find him a way to get him open to get him the

shots that he needs.

And if he has to get shots, he can.

He's seven feet tall and he can move and he's still capable.

But they need somebody that can do all those things.

This team doesn't have that.

And then they don't have the ability for some reason, whether it's focus or, and that

could be a coaching thing too, getting them focused and getting them right.

I do think it's worthy of questioning, is this team a little bit lost right now?

I absolutely agree with that at this point.

But I think anything in terms of like screaming for new coaches, I think all of you that are

screaming for that are going to be massively disappointed because guess what?

It's not changing.

And I don't think that it necessarily should just yet.

We used to live in a world where we let things breathe for a while, work for a while.

Yeah, it's year three.

You're expecting more.

I mean, I don't know.

I'm not captain reactionary, complete over over reaction on anything tonight's about

the players though.

And that's where I always come back to any sport, whether it's football, baseball, basketball,

I'm a lover of all sports and talk about all the sports, obviously, with a locked

on network.

Yeah.

To me, it comes down to execution of players.

Players get paid to do their job and they made multiple mistakes tonight, whether just

getting the ball and simply how many times towards any of the game because they not get

the ball in bounds.

That's not a coaching thing.

That's on the players get your butt open.

And then also make smart decisions throw on the ball in, like stop doing stupid stuff

left and right.

And they just can't seem to not do that.

And then one of the other storylines from, you know, we had the other night in Chicago,

same kind of story line tonight, they had the starters had no help tonight.

Absolutely none.

You had off of your bench, a whopping 11 points and you played overtime tonight, basketball.

You got points out of three players off the bench.

You got five from J. Sean Tate, who actually played a solid eight minutes when he played.

He brought a little bit of energy that they needed.

Aaron Holliday gave you three.

Tariy Eason gave you three.

You got a big fat, nothing out of Capella.

You got a big fat, nothing out of Finney Smith again.

Okogi doesn't really count, he played 56 seconds, but that's all you had.

They're playing with five capable basketball players right now.

No bleep that things are going poorly at times.

No bleep.

They're not, they're not a well constructed team at the moment.

And that gets back to offseason having to fix it and then having some luck on your side

up some things as well.

Do I need to give out a player of the game?

I guess I'll do that before we get out of here in just a few minutes and lock down

I have to say it.

It is the worst loss of the season for the Houston Rockets without

it out the most pathetic as they fall to the timber wolves in overtime tonight.

One 10 to 108 13 point lead in OT and find a way to lose it 43 and 29 now on the

season at a chance to secure another season series.

Had that chance recently against the Lakers could not pull it off.

Of course, had the chance against the nuggets as well.

And they obviously kept losing to them.

And now against the Minnesota timber wolves, they've dropped this one.

So they are a game of peace in terms of the season series.

They can still win it the next time that they see them on the 10th of April at the Toyota Center.

But the chances who knows at this point with this basketball team also

shout out tonight to the fans and everybody else out there in Minnesota who made

sure that everybody knows that Scott Foster sucks.

That crew is rough, man.

It's just rough. They call a lot of fouls.

It's a rough watch when the game is a whistle every single every couple of seconds.

The rocket shot, how many 23 or 25 in the line, which of course, that's the other part I failed

to mention. I mean, and they actually took everything to line it all.

They only went to line 10 times. That's crazy.

Kevin Durant, I mean, you have the chance to tie it and send it to double over time.

And Durant, after getting red hot and doing his thing, of course, with what this game I guess

deserves based off of the amount of nuttiness that it had misses the free throw and then has to

go ahead and intentionally miss. And then like I was mentioning earlier, the rockets can't figure

out how to 1.1 seconds left on the clock because you get bailed out because Minnesota can't hold

them in the ball and you fumbles it out of bounds. 1.1 on the clock can't get the ball in bounds

without it being touched and knocked away because you're running a play for, I guess,

I don't think it wasn't for him, but that was the option at that point because

they can't get their main guys open because players don't know how to get guys open on this

basketball team. It's just a frustrating watch right now. It's a frustrating watch,

and I hope that the frustration goes away here very soon because I would like to watch good basketball.

I would like to watch a run into the playoffs. They are still talented enough to do that,

but they have to get things together. They're going to go continue this road trip that they've

now dropped to the first two on. They've, by the way, lost a total of five of their last eight

games now overall. Is that right? Yeah, five of their last eight yikes. They'll play

minutes to excuse me, Memphis on Friday in Memphis and then Sunday in New Orleans wrap this thing.
