And for the second consecutive season, the Houston Rockets season comes to an end on

their home floor as they fall to the Lakers tonight.

In well, pretty butt-kicking-fash in 98, 78, the final as the season that was frustrating.

That was exciting at times.

It was a lot of things in terms of emotions on what the year was for this basketball

team ended.

Basically, just how you would expect based off the way they performed overall for the season

in terms of lack of consistency, offensively, lack of a lot of things from this basketball

team and disappointing end after a nice climb back into the series to make it a three-to-series.

What should be a very busy off-season for the Houston Rockets has been intriguing off-season

for the Houston Rockets with a lot of stuff to fix, to get to where they want to be in

a very difficult top-end of the Western Conference and overall conference as we have seen year

in and year out.

In terms of tonight's basketball game, I mean, look, we're not going to belabor the

point a ton on it because you know the issues, I know the issues.

The number one issue, of course, in terms of scoring the basketball, it's a problem

for the Rockets.

It's not easy when you don't have Kevin Durant.

They did not have Kevin Durant, of course, again, tonight.

That doesn't fix your problems, per se, but that doesn't make it easier to be a better

offensive team when you don't have one of the greatest scores in the history of the

league out there for you on a given night.

It's just the truth.

Like I know that there's a lot of emotion to get these games and when seasons end and

whatnot.

Like I like to try and take the step back and take the bigger picture view of what has

gone on and what will go on and whatever they might have coming up.

And this was a flawed team.

We know this.

This isn't an excuse for anybody by any means, but the season got off to a tough start

when right out of the gate, you know, before you start the season, you lose Fred Bambley.

And when you lose Fred Bambley, this team doesn't have a point guard.

Your point of anger from that point, of course, gets back to, you know, the general manager

of the team not taking care of business of what his job is to get you some kind of

point guard in some spot to make you a better basketball team.

Is that going to fix all the rockets issues this year?

No, of course not.

Having a poor point guard is not the difference between this and that the difference between

this and that this season is that this team just never completely found it offensively.

They never jailed completely and they don't have the offensive talent overall.

You know, this is a team of franchise that went through a lot of bad years to get really

bad to get really high draft picks.

And here's the truth.

They didn't have a lot of luck when it came to drafting.

They got good players.

They got some core players.

They got good intriguing pieces.

They've shipped one of them off, of course, to get Kevin Durant here in Houston, but

they've never landed that generational talent like a wimbee or a paladin care or a

cade cutting ham or whoever might be that draft that got selected just before the rockets

and all those years where they drafted.

They didn't get lucky enough to get the first pick in the draft at any point.

You know, that never happened.

And they still drafted really good players, players that can help them win long term.

But they'd ever drafted a player that is a generational type of talent.

And now they've put themselves in this corner in terms of how they construct a roster.

And taken on a 37 year old future Hall of Famer who's still great at scoring at the lead

level and was great all season long.

And then of course, in typical Houston sports fashion in terms of luck, you get all the

way through the regular season with the guy healthy.

And he gets to the playoffs and he gets hurt in practice, misses game one, and he gets

hurt again, and misses the rest of the series that you're playing in game two.

You know, it's pretty darn incredible when you think about just the amount of circumstance

that has to happen for that to happen.

But these are all things that do happen every single season.

And that gets back to, and then there's also the loss of Stephen Adams, of course, that

mattered.

It just changed the way that they played defensively.

It changed the way that they just do a lot of things as a basketball team.

It lost a lot of their size.

They lost a lot of their toughness when they lost him.

It's not the only reason why they lost like they did.

They just were not good enough offensively.

And they have to take a big look at the mirror and figure out what they're going to do.

How they're going to do it?

Thank you for joining us here tonight.

The last time this season I know that we started the season late in terms of these shows

this year.

But I appreciate you guys hanging out with me throughout the end of the regular season

and then the playoffs as well.

Jackson Gatlin will have you for the rest of the off season and in the next regular season

as well.

We're hopefully the rockets have a lot better things to talk about.

Of course, across the fan base there's a lot of talk about coach and general manager.

I personally would be surprised if those guys were out.

You never know.

I don't know.

You don't know.

Everybody's just predicting.

But I just don't see for me a scenario where they're probably deciding to punt on management

they have in place that has overall, I mean, look, it's been an improvement every year

basically.

I know that the record this year didn't improve as the exact same record as last year

and the in result is the exact same as last year.

To me, it just gets back to roster construction.

You're going to have to make a big, big, big play on something.

You know, like I said, you have a lot of young talent.

I think this is probably an off season where they are going to use that young talent

and probably go out and try and find a veteran player.

Is it Yannis-Hanthit-Dekumbo?

Do you even want Yannis-Hanthit-Dekumbo?

I don't know.

He's a 31, 32-year-old player who can still play at a championship level.

He doesn't fix some of the offensive issues that you have because, well, he doesn't shoot

from the outside.

The rocket still can't shoot from the outside.

They'd have to add a serious amount of shooters to this basketball team to surround him and

Kevin Durant.

And then there's also that mixing it together.

How would that go?

I think in an ideal world, you find a younger superstar that is not happy in his environment

that he is in, his situation that he is in with whatever team it is at that moment.

And you get that player.

I just don't know that you're going to find that player.

And I really do think that when you have a 37-year-old Kevin Durant, you have painted

yourself into a corner to where, well, it's championship or bust, right?

So you're going to have to make championship or bust type of moves.

And unfortunately, the window could come to a close quicker than you might have anticipated

when you got into this thing, but that's just the kind of the game you play here when

you're playing in the deep end that they are playing in and trying to get over the top.

I don't know what's going to happen.

I don't think anybody that's telling you that what's going to happen is telling you

anything that is truthworthy.

Sit back and watch.

I'm going to be consuming it just like the rest of you guys.

I hope it gets better.

I hope they go into next season and they perform a lot better and they go deeper in the

playoffs.

It would be a lot of fun.
