most in today's Royals Postcast.

1:18
top like you'll be talking about with your friends.
1:21

1:33
As the Royals fall, two to one today, walkoff fashion, a really brutal watch from start
1:39
to finish, a really quick game to, I was expecting to go live around 3.30 in the Royals.
1:45
Just offensively couldn't manage much, a guy that they've struggled against throughout
1:48
his entire career, Gavin Williams has always seemed to have really good stuff against
1:53
And they just couldn't snuff anything offensively today.
1:55
They end up with just one hit.
1:57
And while Noah Cameron pitched a pretty good game that was a struggle at times for the
2:02
I thought that two of the guys that threw today in the bullpen were actually really good.
2:06
I really liked the stuff that I saw from Daniel Lynch.
2:08
I thought he was really good, probably had his best stuff of the year.
2:12
Nick Mears had good stuff, but John Schreiber just comes in late and blows the game.
2:16
It wasn't his fault that he had to pitch in a one to one ball game in the bottom of the
2:21
But at the end of the day, you're employed to do a job.
2:24
That just has to be what you get that you have to get guys out and John Schreiber was
2:31
He was inconsistent.
2:32
And for that reason, the Royals now dropped below 500.
2:35
They are five and six.
2:37
And I just think that this was a disappointing loss for the Royals.
2:40
They head into a winner take all game three tomorrow for the series with Cleveland.
2:46
And I just think that today with a really rough performance, the offense is kind of what
2:53
you're going to be talking about today.
2:55
This is what you'll be talking about.
3:01
I just think that the offense was brutal to watch today.
3:05
You suck Carter Jensen really rope a ball.
3:08
But if you look at the lineup up and down today, the Royals in total outside of the
3:13
home run from Carter Jensen had just four hard hit balls.
3:17
They had none against the Indian or sorry, the Guardians bull pin Gavin Williams struck
3:24
The Royals with runners in scoring position today over four.
3:28
They leave seven on base, Bobby would junior continues to be a not a hole in the lineup,
3:34
but continues to be the entire clutch guy in this lineup.
3:38
And we've seen the middle of this border really have its struggles with runners in scoring
3:41
position this season.
3:42
And I think that it's one thing to struggle with runners in scoring position, but it's
3:46
another thing for your middle of the lineup to be the ones that just cannot hit with runners
3:52
And that continues to be an issue.
3:54
We praise the bottom of this lineup.
3:55
I've given so much praise to guys like Kyle Isbell, Jack Cagley, I'm into a certain extent
4:00
Isaac Collins, but the bottom or the middle of this lineup, top of the lineup has to be
4:05
so much better at just bringing guys into score.
4:08
The Royals this season have really struggled with runners in scoring position.
4:13
It continues to be an issue with runners on base this season pulling up the fan graphs
4:20
The Royals are hitting and visible.
4:24
The Royals are hitting a league, league 11264 with runners on base and with runners in
4:33
scoring position this year, looking at where the Royals are at with runners in scoring
4:39
They are hitting just 262 in the middle of that lineup, Bobby would junior, Vinnie Pasmentino,
4:45
They continue to just not give you very good at bats in the middle of that.
4:49
It continues to be a frustrating point for anybody watching Royals games.
4:52
You saw Jack's tweet today, some of you might have seen Joel Pintfield's tweet today about
4:56
how good the Royals have been at getting hard hit balls, not chasing.
4:59
Today just was not that they struck out way too much.
5:03
They walked, but they were not able to bring guys around.
5:05
The approach to the plate was awful considering the conditions that they played in today with
5:11
You have to be at least willing to lay down a bun.
5:13
You have to be willing to take an extra bag when you're on the bases.
5:17
It was just not good enough from the Royals offensively today.
5:20
You got to tip your cap to Gavin Williams.
5:22
He pitched a really impressive game, five walks, but each strikeouts against a Royals team
5:26
that just did not look prepared to hit in those conditions.
5:31
Bobby would junior continues to struggle over three today with a strikeout.
5:35
You get a hat trick from three different guys in the lineup.
5:37
Michael Garcia, Jack Haglion and Isaac Collins all finish with three strikeouts.
5:42
That's not going to work if you want to win baseball games.
5:45
Now you're going into tomorrow facing a lefty.
5:48
Who's to say that any past Latino starts tomorrow?
5:51
Carter Jensen's been really good this season, but back to our show, a favorable show
5:56
guys that needs favoring splits in Carter Jensen hit left hand in pitching.
6:01
I'm curious to see what the lineup looks like tomorrow because I don't think it needs
6:06
We're 11 games in the season, but there needs to be a wake up call for some guys.
6:10
The unfortunate part is I don't think the Royals have anybody that comfortable putting
6:14
in the three hole or the four hole that you can bring up from the bottom of the lineup,
6:18
and that just kind of is an issue.
6:20
I just think that I think that they need to be much better in the middle of the lineup.
6:25
The guys that you pay to be middle of the lineup, pitters have to hit like middle of
6:28
the lineup, pitters, and that's been a really big issue for the Royals so far as season.
6:33
When we come back, we'll talk about the bullpen decisions.
6:35
I was not a huge fan of what Mac sure I did with the bullpen today.
6:38
We'll talk about that when we come back here on the Royals postcast.
6:45
Today's episode is brought to you by Fandall.
6:48
The NBA playoffs are here where every possession matters.
6:51
Every matchup is magnified and every game is swing a series.
6:54
And right now, Fandall is giving new customers a great way to get in on the action.
6:57
Here's what I like about it.
6:58
You can bet just $5 and get $250 in bonus bets if your first bet wins.
7:04
The app makes it easy to follow the action with player stats, trends, and matchups all
7:09
It just makes the entire playoff experience or engaging from start to finish.
7:14
And Fandall.com to get started, Fandall, play your game.
7:24
I'm not going to wrangle that much on the pitching staff today because I thought they did
7:27
more than enough to win a baseball game today.
7:29
Noah Cameron was really, really good against the guardians.
7:32
He's had his struggles in the past against them.
7:35
He gives you almost six innings, only walked one, five strikeouts.
7:40
I thought he was excellent today.
7:42
He got out of a lot of jams.
7:44
There was multiple opportunities for the guardians today to get, you know, get, take advantage
7:48
of the royals in the offense.
7:51
They didn't do that because Noah Cameron really locked in.
7:54
Daniel Lynch came in and slammed the door in the sixth inning, continued to pitch well
8:01
I don't love Nick Mears stuff overall.
8:03
I don't know if he's a guy that I would consider throwing in high leverage spots that I do
8:08
like Nick Mears as a sixth, seventh inning guy that can throw in some low leverage spots.
8:13
I do think that that is kind of his role with this team and I think he's going to serve
8:16
it really, really well.
8:18
Then you go to John Schreiber in the ninth inning and I just don't understand that decision.
8:23
Since when has John Schreiber been a guy you're confident throwing in in these high leverage
8:28
spots since his first season, probably more so since the first half of his first season.
8:35
John Schreiber has just been too erratic.
8:37
He's not been consistent enough to really give you confidence in him heading into some of
8:43
these big spots and it was a really frustrating performance for him.
8:47
You look at what he gave you from a just pitch standpoint that slider continues to just
8:53
be a miss after miss today.
8:56
His slider got in was was in the zone in total just or sorry his sweeper you didn't throw
9:03
a single one for a strike and it continues to be one of his worst pitches.
9:08
His change up wasn't in the zone.
9:09
He throws that cutter and he throws it well.
9:12
But today 33% in the zone was 33% strides.
9:17
He was to the four batters he paced.
9:19
He was behind in three of them.
9:22
It just feels like he's not a guy that you can trust in a high leverage spot.
9:27
I don't understand the trust that they put in him.
9:31
I would have much rather seen Lucas Er sig in that spot, especially considering he didn't
9:36
pitch a whole lot yesterday.
9:38
But I understand the macro trail kind of use him as their closer now with Carlos Esteba
9:43
So I think that it's going to be really interesting to see how they go forward with this bullpen
9:48
considering they don't have really anybody other than Er sig and strom.
9:53
You can rely on in high leverage situations Alex Lang has been blown up Daniel Lynch pitched
9:58
really well today, but it's hit or miss with the amount of the bullpen John Schreiber.
10:02
He's a walking gasoline can when it comes to what the other team sees offensively, but
10:07
I just think that this bullpen I love the bullpen.
10:10
I think they have a chance to be one of the best bullpins in the league, but you have to get
10:15
so much more out of some of those guys.
10:17
If you want to see this team in a playoff spot, come October because you're just not getting
10:23
enough from this team offensively and it's tough to watch sometimes or sorry from the
10:30
It's tough to watch sometimes what this bullpen does, but man, I just think that John Schreiber
10:35
is not the guy you should go to in that ninth inning.
10:38
That's my opinion in hindsight's 2020, but I probably would have rather seen a couple
10:43
of other guys come out of the bullpen.
10:44
I wouldn't have been opposed to seeing Alex Lang in that spot.
10:47
I just think that John Schreiber is not a guy you can throw in these leverage spots.
10:52
I just think that I would have liked to have seen him not on the roster this year compared
10:57
to what we've seen from him over the last couple of years.
10:59
He's just not been very good.
11:01
He's last couple of seasons for the Royals, and I think that at this juncture of his
11:06
career, he's just not a high leverage pitcher, and the Royals need to realize that.
11:11
You go into tomorrow's game with Matt Strom and Lucas Ersick, both available, and you're
11:16
going to have full rig and you're ace on the mound throughout his career with the Royals.
11:21
He has been really good in rubber matches.
11:24
I think that you feel confident going into tomorrow while today's loss definitely stings.
11:28
You wanted more out of it.
11:30
It was not ideal hitting conditions.
11:33
Gavin Williams has traditionally pitched well against the Royals, and he's traditionally
11:36
a really good home pitcher in Cleveland, so I think that you go into tomorrow with an
11:42
opportunity to win a series in at the end of the day.
11:44
That's what you can ask for, but I appreciate you guys who are joining us today.
11:49
I've got to get back to work.
11:50
Jack will have you guys tomorrow.
11:52
He'll go live after the game against Cleveland.
11:57
Weird start time at 1240 local, but Jack will have you tomorrow for the Royals postcast.
12:03
Don't forget to like the video, subscribe to the channel, and we will see you tomorrow

12:37
to individual events to finding your angle on the sports you care about most.
12:41
Fandall gives you more ways to say connected to the action.
12:44
The drama of curling matches that start slow and somehow get intense fast hockey games
12:48
that feel different right from opening face off.
12:51
The winner games are on, and there's no better way to follow them than with Fandall.
