In this episode, we’re joined by a fan Ruby, who shares her personal journey as a fan of BVB From discovering the band to the impact their music has had on her life, Ruby opens up about her story, favorite moments, and what being part of the BVB Army means to her.
Welcome back BBB Army. Welcome back to our channel BBB Army Hearts Hearts. I'm Ruth and I'm Nicole.
We apologize. We're having some technical issues right now. We'll just zoom.
I don't know what's up. It's either my side of my internet, Nicole's internet, or just zoom in general right now
It's just not working with us. Over here in Washington
We just got snow, but I don't think I should affect the Wi-Fi. Then again, I don't know. So we apologize.
But we are here BBB Army with an awesome fan to continue on with our series with the BBB fan stories and this time around we have this awesome fan named Ruby with us today to share her BBB story with us. So welcome Ruby.
Now, correct me from wrong Ruby. You can show right like on during BBB month. I want to say yes. Have you? Yes, I am. Okay, called it. Yeah, we recognize the name.
Let's get to it. So our very first question is how did you discover Blackville Brides? I found out about them through my brother and sister.
They were in the Fallen Angels music video and I had seen them. I guess like around like and Vel came out is when me and my sister stopped listening to them because we thought it was going to be their last album.
So around 2021 and they released their. I thought it was their Phantom tomorrow is when I rediscovered school.
I love that you first heard them at such a young age. I feel like that's kind of I don't know. I guess I can't. It was rare for us. We were already in you know in high school. So I love the fact that at such a young age, you're just like I like that.
Yeah, at some point we had gone to the mall. We had gone to the hot topic and both got in like shirts and then they're on my sister had got in their album for their Blackville Bride album.
Then you said you rediscovered them in 2021 with the Phantom tomorrow and you risk like rediscovered them again. So what was your favorite song by Blackville Brides?
The favorite song it would have to be between never given and love isn't always fair.
Oh G songs.
The world on fire.
Browning points.
Yeah, my favorite love isn't always fair.
Has to be top because it feels a little bit relatable to me now.
But never given is like I like the vocals and everything in it.
I mean, it's a classic. It's a OG song. Never give it. I feel like that was just one of the staples for the early be the Army when the first question. I'm not right.
We such these wounds came out. So out of all the albums, which one is your favorite so far?
I would have to say their Blackville Bride album. I just all their songs and that one all their songs are good.
But like I like all their songs in their Blackville Bride one.
Because I think I also learned how to play one of their songs and I think is good by Agony.
And I went out to play for base guitar.
That's cool.
Love that.
I just love that it's literally the self titled album because so many people do not like that album. It's very underrated.
It's always appreciated when someone's like, yep, that's the album for me.
I kind of want to ask you my signature question. Do you which one? I guess out of the two, which one to you personally is the best and just your favorite?
Is it going to be the OG we stitch these wounds or is it the remastered restitch?
Oh, that's I think I would probably go with the OG.
I mean, I like the restitch these wounds, but I appreciate the storyline for restitch these wounds.
Also because for restitch they would tell it a little differently.
They do. I mean, yeah, because we are like the first one. It's so I know we set this 100 times. It's so raw and stuff.
And while the new one is like the progression of where they are now, especially with Lonnie doing the bass and CC doing the drums.
So yeah, but I can understand.
Because that's also like you found them or you listen. I know you listen to fallen angels first.
But then when you probably were discovering them, it was that album first before the restitch.
So you fell in love with them for that rather than for the new.
Yeah, what has been your favorite memory with Black Fiber?
It's this could be something through VIP, something through online or something or cameo.
In 2024, I had gotten a cameo from Lonnie for my 16th birthday.
And I still have the video.
And I think I had received the email that he had sent the bill when I had two for students from every day.
And we were in line for the Mario Kart.
And I watched the video. I watched the video and I just started crying because I was like so happy.
But I also remember that same day, Jake had gone live on Twitch and he had said happy birthday to me too.
So you got two birthday wishes from Jake and from Lonnie. I love that.
Sweet 16.
Pretty deep one. So we asked that you just take your time.
But how has Blackville Brides impacted your life?
Blackville Brides, like like I said, we discovered them back in middle school.
They helped me like when I was getting bullied at the time.
And there was also a lot of like family drama with my brother and my parents,
because my brother was at the time like into like heavy drugs and like I guess it affected me and that way.
So like I guess like whenever they would fight with my brother, my parents, I would just like listen to Bill Brides.
Like escape like reality for like what was going on.
But I also, I had a friend in middle school, her name was Brittany.
Her favorite song was that by them was Lossil.
She, she passed away when she was 13.
Oh my god, I am so sorry.
Yeah, her, her family was like very abusive towards her.
And I guess like I didn't see the signs that she wanted to like KMS and all that.
So like she hadn't told me before like a couple days.
The last day I saw her that she told me if I ever like become like a singer because it's my dream to like if I ever meet Blackville Brides in person to tell them that she saw them as her like only family.
Yeah, my heart is like it just it breaks for you because that's not, that's not an experience that you should have had to go through and that's not an experience that you're, you know, anyone should have to deal with and I am honestly I'm so sorry.
I'm glad that Blackville Brides was in a gate for you and I'm glad that they have hopefully listening to them and just knowing the kind of people they are have made you a lot stronger person dealing with everything that's around you.
I would love to see you have a video on TikTok or on Instagram.
Hey, I post, I've been posting a lot of singing stuff on my Instagram recently.
Okay.
Okay.
No, I'm truly I'm sorry for everything that you and especially your friend went through and stuff like.
I don't know if that looks like that saying that no one knows the answer.
Why do bad things happen to good people it's just that unknown unknown answer, but I just hope that.
It will I hope you don't blame yourself for all the events that happened to your friend and stuff and I'm really sorry those events happen to your friend and.
And I'm glad that like Nicole said BBB was there to kind of give you and your friend comfort and stuff and kind of escape.
We're like a gateway to escape reality and is escape all the trauma and problems and like.
It's life has through at you guys so but I'm grateful that the BBB was there for you to have that gateway or escape route.
So moving on.
And a curiosity do you have any tattoos?
Not at the moment because I can't get it when you're not there has a plan of getting.
I want to get their signature logo tattooed on my ankle in the future.
Oh the ankles you are brave.
I have so many tattoos planned out like I want to get a full sleeve and then like something on my ribcage or something.
But I will probably start off with something small.
Now when you said their signature logo I'm assuming you're talking about the morning star correct.
Yes.
I can't lie that will be such about that as tattoo I've never seen the morning star logo on an ankle.
Cool I just picturing it right now and it looks so dope.
I mean you're brave to do it on the ankle first of all for your I'm assuming your first tattoo when it does get there.
So because I was a whip.
I mean I don't give you a I got the morning star here on my arm.
So I had a curiosity what my originally wanting to get it.
Sorry finished.
Internet finished.
I originally wanted to get it off.
I was too scared to get it on my wrist because I feel like it would hurt more.
So I want to get it on my ankle.
Yeah wrist hurts.
I can tell you this part was not fun.
I feel like they're both going to feel relatively this.
One thing got her remember the your ankle you got like that ankle bone.
Yeah.
At least tell me you're putting it on the say worst case like you can always get numbing cream.
If the pain is too much.
My mom has an ankle tattoo and she tells me that it it did hurt her a lot.
Got her tattoo there is now is hers more like is it like very intricate and is it a big piece small piece.
It's small piece it's um she has a Betty Boop tattoo on her ankle.
That's cute.
Out of curiosity what morning star were you planning on like their OG.
They're new updated one and stuff.
I mean there's different variations of their morning star.
I was thinking we're like the OG hell yeah keeping it classic.
We both hope we both have the OGs.
Okay so moving on to Blackville bride concerts.
Have you been to a Blackville bride concert?
Have you been able to see them live by chance?
I saw them for their bleeders tour in LA.
It was my first concert too.
Oh my god so you've lost your concert virginity to Blackville bride.
My parents had a meet and greet but we missed it as my parents thought the meet and greet was at the same time.
So I had asked the security guard of when the meet and greet was and she had told me already passed.
So I was like on the verge of tears but like I just held it in because I didn't want to start crying.
Oh my god I'm so sorry.
I would have cried.
There is no shame of cried.
You missed the chance this meeting great.
I mean every fan cries when unfortunately when BBB is not torn and then something happens and they can't perform that show dates.
It's okay to cry.
But that was also kind of a little bit of a disaster at the end though.
How so?
They were performing in the end and my dad already wanted to leave because he got bored.
Oh no!
No!
I've been like father.
I had told my dad I wanted to finish recording a little bit of it and he told me to hurry up.
I think I wasn't waving my hand like this or something and I had some bracelets that I wanted to give them at the meet and greet.
But they flew off my head too big.
The security guard told me I needed to leave because I couldn't throw things.
And so like my dad kind of got mad at me thinking I was something and he hit me in the back of the head and it's a security guard.
Oh my god.
Do that sounds like something my dad would not even care.
I am so sorry.
That like unfortunately I understand with security because just sadly too many times there are fans that not fans.
But I guess I should say people who aren't fans that you target people on stage.
Not that you of course.
You were not intentionally doing that.
I understand he was doing his job still but the f***.
Okay.
Respectfully Ruby.
For your mom and dad.
Just respectfully.
I am shame.
Shame.
Shame.
Shame.
Because my dad took me to my first BVB rock concert and stuff and he dealt with it.
He let me stand until they were done.
Like it's not his it's not his genre but like he stood in the back and stuff.
Keep an eye on me to make sure I was okay.
He dealt with it because he that's what the father does.
I'm sorry.
Okay.
I'm done.
But that's just like he's not into rock music.
He's more into his like grunt grunt shadow music and like his Latino music.
My mom.
She likes her rock music.
She's like.
Yeah.
That's rockin' all that.
She likes Lincoln Park and like Metallica and like other rock bands and like Guns & Roses.
But I think she was disappointed because she also thought I was through this thing.
I mean beyond the ending.
Lisa time and did they hopefully enjoy their beginning portion of their time there?
I mean yeah my mom like she kind of like at the beginning she kind of like jumped up
and down with me just to like kind of because she said I think um one of the groups that was
performing before Blackville rise I think it I forgot what group it was. Should it
Creeper? Creeper? I think it was. No it was dark divine. There was a guy who was wearing
like a full face of like makeup and my mom I'm like she like set it in front of my dad she's
like she's kind of cute and then my dad just straight up called her crazy. Okay so there could
have been William from Creeper or Anthony from dark divine or I don't know I don't
remember the lead singer let ghost kit having makeup on I can't remember. Oh I think he did
but I don't remember the names. That's actually hilarious though. Out of curiosity are you
gonna be going to their goat tour? No they're gonna be here in Riverside but my mom said she
doesn't want to take me because she said I got crazy at the concert. Oh my god you're supposed to
get crazy at the concert. Again respectfully Ruby. Shame. Shame on the mom and dad. Shame. Shame.
Respectfully. Yeah but also the only seats they have the only ones they have available is front
row and my mom can't really stand because she has a bad knee. There you pay for your ticket like the
ticket is like a standard general admission like on the floor and usually you're at the venue you
upgrade your get-to-go sit. It could be different where you're at. Yeah maybe. Yeah I am so sorry
so bleeders is the only concert you've been to correct? For Bluffel Brides yes. Oh yeah and you
missed her me. You got robbed out of your VIP. No I am so sorry. I know. Yeah I was trying to
convince one of my friends to go with me for this next concert but she said she might not be able
to go because her mom's kind of dizzily. It will be your time soon Ruby. You will be able to go
to their show. You will be able to get VIP. You will meet them at VIP. We're going to manifest it.
It's going to happen for you. It's going to happen. Yes. And once again respectfully. Shame on
your parents. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame. Shame on. When it comes to their war paint BVB back in
the early era's which is your favorite Blackboard Brides war paint. I like all of them but I think
I'm going to have to go with Andy because it's just so iconic. I mean it's a classic. It is
with them flicks like one. He's got to like me and my sister had like a huge crush on him when
we started listening like you were right. Who didn't even like if you was one of those things
people who if you're a boyfriend boyfriends they even had a crash on Andy like. Yeah. And he's
just hot and it's unfair. He's a vampire. He does not freaking age. He just ages as good as
fine wine. I'm like, I hate you. He's aging backwards. Yeah. He's never going to have a
wrinkle ever. Oh, even if he does he's going to somehow pull it off and make it hotter. I'm just
like everybody favorite Blackboard Brides era of all time. If you had to pick one to live in for
the rest of us. That's a hard question. I think when I go with I have to go with leaders because I
just love the sweetie taught. The sweetie taught theme is just like I like it because I also love
like the movie and everything. I mean I also like the cover of Friends. Oh yeah. My favorite line
is the you sheltered rubies. Mine's the end. My last time. My last time is complete again.
How has been your experience with the Blackboard Brides army so far? I'll say like at the concert
I didn't get to have that many like I didn't get to talk with many people. But I did get a lot of
like compliments on my outfit from other bands which made me feel about myself. But I also remember
getting like likes on my Instagram posts where like the drawings I did with the members.
And then I think friends of Nicole and then kind of Ruth. And I'm pretty sure you guys like
the and commented on it. I get it insert photos here. Okay so I do this sort of Nicole. Oh yes
I remember. Oh that's right. And then I did this sort of room. Yes. The blue haired
Oh yeah that was a way you're talented. We've seen your drawings. Now we've got to listen
to your voice. Like I want to hear you sing so bad. I'm so excited. Real quick just going back
with your answer for the like your experience in the baby army. I will say a lot of fans
when you're going to the shows I feel like a lot of people are just kind of like myself
maybe it's just anxiety. I think a lot of fans just get really nervous. I think people want
to speak up and hang out and talk to others. They just get scared. But then you know online
it's online. No one's scared of online. No one's like a keyboard. So everyone
I'll interact with them online. Yeah. Yeah that's like that's all I felt at the concert. I was like
scared to talk to anybody because like I'm like so nervous and I'm like a shy person. I'm very
quiet. So I don't talk to anyone unless they come to talk to me first. Now I didn't have
completely fair because I feel like that's everyone because Nicole and I when we go to concerts
together like obviously we know each other. So we're like two peas in a pot and then like other
fans see it's like oh I saw you but I was just too scared to come up and say hi. So yeah it's like
I went to my first kpop concert in June and it was like super packed and I was super nervous
to like talk to any of the fans and then like people started coming up to me and like giving me
like bracelets and like photo cards. I had my stuff to like pass out so like once I felt
terrible I started passing out my stuff and then I started talking to people and I made friends
and like now I talk to them on Instagram and all that. We need more of that in the BBB army
and I can't I think a lot of the newer generations they're just way more like extroverted
and don't talk about embarrassing themselves like they like they litter I think the newer generation
the more newer people we can get into the army I feel like they kind of help bring out that's
I feel like this will happen with the leaders we did have a couple people that were given out
wristbands and even stickers. I mean I've considered giving away some of the extra stickers I have
a BBB for the Seattle show coming up so who knows. I wanted to do something like that for the
leaders concert but I don't feel like I don't feel like I got scared so I didn't make anything
to pass out. Don't be scared. The worst thing that happened is someone says no thank you I guess
but why would they say that because you're giving them something free it's made like exactly.
I feel like most people would be like oh thank you. So our very last question for you
is actually if you just have any questions for Ruth and I and they don't have to be Black
Feel Brice related. I have a couple quotes. Hit us. First question is like is there any other artists
or like groups or bands that you guys like other than BBB? Yes. Yes. Wait wait to me personally
I could probably list off a large list because I am just a music lover in general but beyond Black
Feel Brice like one of my other favorite artists is the band Ghost. I don't know if you've heard of them.
Yes. Oh my god. I am in love with them. I also love Creeper and Dark Divine like the list
goes on and on but definitely Black Feel Brice and Ghost are like my top two. So obviously BBB
for number one but if I had to pick another one it is another artist different genre but I
she is mother. She is mother. She is mother Lady Gaga. I am obsessed with Lady Gaga. I was very
fortunate enough to see her in the very first concert of her in the Mayhem Bon Seattle and oh my
god her voice just like I just again if I had to live in an era era of Lady Gaga it would be
Mayhem 100% so but no Lady Gaga is definitely another artist who I listened to a lot. Oh so
Ricky Martin if you know you know and stuff and another band that I haven't say I'm a fan at
I've always been a pronounced her name wrong. Pele Royale. I think that's how you pronounce it.
Or Palai Royale. I don't know how to pronounce it correctly but I don't know if you've heard of
them and stuff but I don't know. I do like them. For me like obviously I do like there's like
K-pop groups I like like Stray Kids and like obviously BTS and like I also listen to like Lincoln Park
and like Lincoln Biscuit and like I also want to go see Jay Bolving last year in May. You
saw that. I saw Jay Bolving. He's a Hispanic artist. I think I've heard of him. Okay I'll have to look
them up because I don't think I'm ever going to have to look him up. Thank you. Another question I have
like in a friend like you were talking the other day like we want to do something like kind of like
what you guys do like with the BBB Army and stuff all that. We wanted to know like is there like any
advice you could give us like how to start or like what we should know. Are you like a podcast
yeah. I think we'll both have different advice for sure. Yeah. I mean I will. I won't lie starting
a podcast does take a lot of energy and stuff and time but I guess the main key is if you and your
friend do you want to start a podcast and stuff consistency is key very consistent even though I
know at first you might not get like a lot of views and stuff but if you're consistent and have
a consistent schedule of uploading or talking or even its audio and stuff I think once you once
people see that you're consistent because I know some other podcasts are not consistent and so that's
way when they do post they don't get a lot of views because the people are like oh I don't know when
you're posting so I'm not going to spend my time unlike oh this podcast is posting like every day
at this time and stuff so I know where to find them so I would my advice is consistency. I would say
for starters always have fun when you're doing it if you're not having fun then you're you're
generally not going to enjoy doing a podcast but I think another hugely important thing to remember
is to knock it down on yourself during it it's about it's a learning experience when we first
started we didn't we weren't even using microphones we didn't have high quality webcam so don't
get down on yourself it's literally a building process I'm that person where if I want to do
something and it's not perfect from the get go then I like to destroy my entire brain like
freaking out that it's not perfect but that's where you have to just be able to remind yourself
this is a work in progress building our way to it so as Ruth said consistency make sure that
you're just always building your way always find what's going to work better for the both of you
what's going to work best for your podcast even if that means have changed times that you guys
do it or days or even upload days that's okay too but most importantly have fun doing it don't
stress yourself doing it yeah it's a learning process for sure like Nicole said like you can take a
look at our early episode we don't talk about those anymore but no definitely have fun just be
yourself also do you guys have like any like book recommendations that are like movies so I
recommend to my English teacher for book club books that were into movies oh give me a second
here 90 percent of the shows and flash movies are already based on books let's be honest I feel
like there's so many that come to my there's so many that are coming at once that I can't think
but the first one to really come to my head is Ender's Game that was you know crazy enough I
saw the movie before reading the book but I love the book so much better I'm just going to
say it because I was curious curiosity when it came out the movie came out I haven't seen the movie
but I read I've been reading the book online a little bit here and there um the house made I know
they made a movie out of it with uh what's her name Sydney Sweeney and then Amanda I forgot her
last name and I know there was a book made on it so I was curious about the book because I heard
mixed reviews on the movie so yeah is there one that you recommend there's so many books you've read
for book club but I think the bubble Frankstein oh yes I'm gonna hit it on it at the beginning but
I'm sorry I read it I was like okay it's not that bad um I mean there's so many movie variations
of Frankenstein obviously but like I know obviously we're talking about Frankenstein the new
the new one with oh what's the director and Guillermo de Torres filmed uh directed it and
stuff I mean that movie is pretty well I will admit that the cost to me and the prosthetics and
everything I'm just like and I'm in love so I really hope it does pretty well on the Oscars or did
get any Oscars this past weekend with the Oscars yes I'm obsessed with the Oscars just something
Brown and I wanted to say was like I'm slowly starting my like singing career not like career yet
but I auditioned for a company called JYP in Seoul Korea and I got an email back saying I got
evaluated which is good news okay yeah so I mean it's kind of waiting for like the next steps
from there or I'm waiting for the next steps my friend told me to audition for other companies
to see which one gets me first yeah and then I also have to go get my passport for that too yes
yes get the passport how did I audition tapes yeah how does that work in Seoul Korea because
I'm sorry I have a fifth grade student who loves straight kids like literally she
obsesses with straight kids and it's funny not because she meets me after school and before
school as she tells me like some of the issues that I start like reminiscing like a lot of our
classmate poke fun at her because they like she likes straight kids like oh they look like girls
oh they were like makeup and I told her like hey I get it I like black full brides I got
teeth for it don't don't listen to them anyway but she was talking about like doing the same
thing like you just did so I'm just wondering how does that work because she she wants to be a singer
too if you want to audition they always have their online auditions open so you go to their website
and just look up their JYP auditions and you have their online auditions and then you submit a video
and then you submit like other information that they ask for okay interesting well I hope that
works out great for you and hopefully gets the ball rolling and get more updates and stuff so
exciting for you I guess like I would say ever since I got into the kpop stuff I'd become broke
because I have gotten so many albums and like the stuff animals that they sell are so expensive
so I've heard I'm like so I've heard all right BBB Army we are so sorry for them for any kind of
lag or whatever kind of random technology error that has happened but we do hope that you enjoyed
