Rushcliffe Groups: Apply for Armed Forces Day Grant

0:00On March 27th, community groups in Rushcliffe are being encouraged to apply for part of a nationwide 500,000-pound grant scheme to host. Armed Forces Day events this summer, the Central Government funding supports celebrations honoring service personnel, veterans, and their families with grants up to 10,000 pounds, available per event. Applications are open now to local authorities, schools, charities, sports clubs, and other organizations, and they close on the 30th of March. 2026, Armed Forces Day falls on Saturday the 27th of June, giving plenty of time to plan local gatherings. Rushcliffe's MP James Nash welcomed the news, noting the areas pride in its armed forces community and nearly 4,000 veterans. He looks forward to joining the celebrations. Defense Secretary John Healey emphasized how vital community backing is for those who serve. This funding ties into wider government efforts, like a Strategic Defense Review, a 9-billion-pound program to upgrade forces housing, including two, 1,596 homes in the East Midlands.
