And then, but I felt like if I sent a second text, that's when it started to get creepy.

So, all right.

So, I like Chrissy.

Chrissy, she had this like calm confidence, like this chill, like I got my life together

energy.

Like in your spot, somebody who's like got their stuff together and but like she would

like laugh with these like tiny snorts is really adorable, like you don't like someone

who's like laughs with snow and you can tell like it's not like a fake laugh because no

one would laugh that way.

Right.

Okay.

And she also would talk with her hands, but not like being overly dramatic, she was just

like expressive.

So, you felt like you were really drawn into conversation with her.

And so, we went on this like simple date, like an indoor kind of date thing.

What did you do indoors?

So, we met at this like paint your own mug night at like this wine bar.

It was like low-key, cozy, warm lighting, lots of mismatched chairs and indie music and

stuff like that.

And we sat across from each other and painted our mug so while tearing childhood stories

and sipping paint on the water.

It's a nice spin on sipping paint.

It's all nice.

Yeah.

It was nice.

And then there was a moment that I think probably brought the ghosting along.

So while we're painting, Chrissy goes up and she's heading with a girl to front counter

because she needs to grab more glaze like you do.

And but then she said, I always attract the quiet ones and the front desk girl like

laughed and then she responded with, well, hey, those are usually the weird ones, usually

the weird ones.

Yeah.

And it's like it's weird when you can't un-hear that.

The moment you hear that your brain just starts spiraling and spiraling even though you're

in the middle of the day.

So you're just trying to like throw yourself together and despite the fact that your brain

is just going in a hundred directions.

And I like, honestly, like I was convinced she was talking about me because who else

was she going to be talking about at this wine bar?

And like I'm thinking like, okay, she thinks I'm awkward or like I'm too introverted or

like I'm not like fun or anything or like just not like the guy she'd hoped she wanted.

So I spend the entire rest of the day overthinking every single word that comes out of my mouth.

Like am I being boring?

Am I being too serious?

Too slow to joke back?

I like like, should I be talking or should I be talking less?

Did I pick the wrong mug shape?

You know, it's like, should did I go for the T mug when I should have gone for like the

gigantic black coffee mug and I'm just, you know, and it just, it just felt like like

emotional and insecure and I felt like I was everything I'm not for the rest of the

day.

Okay.

And even though, and I mean, Christy seemed totally normal and she even laughed a few times,

but like I felt like I was like closing off and I was trying way too hard to not seem

weird, which is like the best way to seem weird.

Right.

But still at the end, like we took a picture holding our mugs, but in my head, like I

would you, I just thought like she was stupid, like she's uncomfortable because of me.

Okay.

But I felt chemistry.

So that's the thing.

It's like I felt like chemistry, but like embarrassment, like she'd seen totally through

me.

So really emotional.

Yeah.

Right.

Yeah.

And so after five days of silence, I'm convinced she probably told her friends, I'm

the weird quiet guy at the line bar.

And I just, I feel like I just want to explain, maybe try again, because I think there's

potential.

If like we could just get off on the right foot.

Okay.

Russell is on the phone and he's getting ghosted by a woman named Chrissy.

So in a second, we're going to call her Steve.

She'll tell us why she's ghosting him and maybe get him a second date.

But before we do that, Russell, why don't you break down your date again for us real

quick?

All right.

Five days ago, I had a great, what started off as a great date with Chrissy at this wine

bar where we were painting mugs.

And then all of a sudden, I overheard her talking about the weird and creepy quiet ones.

And I just, it sent me the rest of the date.

I was like, not standoffish, but I definitely was overthinking everything.

And now she hasn't sent me a text for anything in five days.

And you're pretty sure when she was talking to the person at the place you went about the

quiet, weird creepy people.

I can't think of anybody else who would have been talking about it unless she had a full

history with the person working at the wine bar.

All right.

Well, here we go.

It's a guy named Jim, you know, Jim.

It is Russell.

Russell emailed us and said that he went on a date with you.

He thought it was great.

He thought you were awesome, but now you're ghosting him and he's wondering if you'll tell

us why.

Um, I mean, it's kind of embarrassing.

For him?

Baby, both of us.

Just telling us a little bit about it.

He's really curious.

Okay.

So it was the way he's sad.

Sad?

Yeah.

Okay.

Where is that mean?

I know this sounds insane, but we were at this, like, paint your own mug, please.

And he, he just sat there for 20 minutes without moving, that blanking, just totally

that you asked.

So he just sat there like a statue?

Yeah.

Was he talking at all or he was just quietly sitting there?

No.

Like totally in the zone, not speaking.

Nothing.

He was freaking out.

Was he painting his mug?

Yes.

Okay.

So he was supposed to be doing it.

Yeah.

So he was, he was doing his mug with the way that he was sitting and like his demeanor.

What?

It creep you out or something?

Yeah.

Yeah.

Definitely.

Was it like I'm sitting up super straight and frozen or like kind of hunched over and frozen?

Like did he at least feel like he was frozen in a comfortable position?

What?

I don't know because then it would make you have like different, you know?

It looks very uncomfortable.

That also freaked me out.

Okay.

Yeah.

He wasn't moving like at all.

It was giving me like low-key serial killer vibe.

Oh.

Well, I'd be curious to know if he is one of those.

I'm just, I'm a little taken aback here.

I'm just like, I'm fine with something.

It's a little weird.

I'm being ghosted over the fact that I put effort into painting a mug.

I didn't even pick the mug place.

I just started thought like, okay, she cares about mugs.

And so I'm sitting there like making it not seem like I'm making fun of the fact that

we're painting these mugs that she wanted to paint.

Yeah.

But we were on a date.

Like, how are you supposed to get to know me if you're just sitting there frozen painting

a mug the whole time?

I was concentrating.

It's, it's called being focused.

I was, you know, I was trying to make this mug look like it was worthy of the dent.

Yeah, but you look like you were buffering.

You went silent in there as well.

I mean, you were trying to paint the perfect mug on your side.

It seemed like, like, honestly, it seemed like you were like writing your resignation letter

to the universe.

Like, we were in an activity.

I mean, you weren't talking either.

Yeah, because I was sitting across from you, so I figured I might as well just sit here

and paint my mug too.

Sounds like a couple of kids in their first date.

I know.

Okay.

I mean, I get that you were focusing on the mug, but honestly, like, I overheard you talking

to the lady from the wine bar.

And you were kind of talking shit about me.

What?

No, I wasn't.

You were talking about attracting the quiet guys.

And like, how they're the weird ones?

Oh, yeah.

I was talking about you.

I was telling her how you were quiet weirdo.

Okay.

Said, that feels pretty aggressive.

We had just met and we were in the middle of, like, making these mugs.

You know what?

I'm really busy, so I'm going to go now.

Oh.
