So today we're going to talk a little bit about some signings, some departures that the Bears have had and then also Max Crosby.
I'm going to leave Max Crosby till the very end so we can get through the Bears stuff first and then we can start talking a little bit about the Max Crosby.
The Max Crosby information because I know for us it was like I was so happy that it was finally done and now we'll break that down and what I think is going to actually happen with the Max Crosby news.
All the stuff that we've heard so far I think kind of paints a pretty pretty picture for it all but also too thank you to our friends out there on FanDuel for sponsoring today's show and Bears fans.
If you think that the Bears are going to get over nine and a half wins you can go out to our friends at FanDuel and put down a bet on them at plus one 15 or under nine and a half wins at minus one 35 currently.
I this is a tough one and that's where I would personally stay away from it normally the Overs don't hit with the Bears but it's when you look at the schedule and everything it's a difficult schedule but hey.
With Ben Johnson anything's possible with Caleb Williams anything's possible and with some of the additions anything is possible so thanks again to our friends at FanDuel for sponsoring today's show so to start things off.
Let's take a look at the roster because a couple roster moves happen today Kevin Bired officially out gets signed for a one year nine million dollars and a couple safeties still available for the Bears.
Juquan brisker and also safety CJ Gardner Johnson cut and also someone that the Bears brought back Elijah Hicks now Jonathan Owens is also still available to but right now what we're looking at for their their you know overall depth chart it looks like Cam Lewis and Elijah Hicks will both be those backups Elijah Hicks yet again like I've always said somebody that got a lot more snaps towards the tail end of the season last year and that's why it's.
Felt like he was going to come back seem like Dennis Allen really liked him over someone like a Jonathan Owens and I think that's why you see my guesses Jonathan Owens was replaced by Cam Lewis or maybe even CJ Gardner Johnson got replaced by Cam Lewis to me.
Maybe brisker is asking price has gone a little bit down and maybe we can bring him back but I still don't see it very likely Kevin Bired was always the person that they might have brought back and they wanted to bring back.
So it's a little surprising that he ended up leaving but I think that when you look at it I just can't see brisker coming back I would love it if briskers back but I just can't see him coming back because he excels as a box safety and what we know with Dennis Allen system is he wants them to play a lot more deep safety and that just wasn't really briskers game he's a lot better in the box at the slot side so we'll have to see but he stayed healthy but we'll see so those are the main.
Core pieces that ended up happening today when we're talking about the roster like filling out the roster still some just roster spots to at least kind of keep an eye out for is that starting safety position to see if they're going to add anyone or if they're going to bank on the draft and hope that one of those first round safeties are available in the first round I hope they don't do that in case Peter Woods is available at that 25 spot but it's something that they might end up doing so
I'm just wondering a like it warrants looking into but maybe I like the idea of bringing back CJ Gardner Johnson gives you a lot of depth and also can play that strong safety so you don't have to go that route in the first round so just my two cents but it's nice to see that this roster is starting to fill out and also we'll talk about the newest addition at left tackle next but actually we will I thought we were going to go with the center first so let's talk about the new addition at the
left tackle spot and that's Jedrick will's junior now YouTube what do you think about this signing I like it I really like what they're doing with this left tackle position because they're not just saying like I was surprised I was actually kind of surprised that they didn't just say
Braxton this is going to be your job I like that they're bringing in Jedrick will's junior and I am not here to tell you Jedrick will's junior is going to be the left tackle the future I'm not here to tell you Braxton Jones is going to be the left tackle the future but what I can tell you about both of these players is that
Jedrick will's junior last season sat out the entire 2025 season to recover from his knee injury ever since 2023 and you can kind of see it with some of his stats and I'll do a little
extreme close up with this if you look at his stats in 2023 had a little MCL injury and you saw kind of his production drop off his rookie year 60 62.6 which yet again 60 is average among
or pf 66 the next season 62.9 the following season and in all those seasons pretty good pass blocking grade 77.6 67.9 69.6 and pass blocking efficiency of over 96% which is really good when you're talking about a left tackle and this is someone who has zero steps at right tackle he is a left tackle
and you look at the run blocking numbers coming out of Alabama this guy was known for being a run blocker and was seen as more someone that could start to get better in the past block department he's only had one season of an above 60 run block grade and that was in 2021 his sophomore season with the browns.
So if I'm looking at this Jedrick will is someone that's I think that the bears are looking at as a first round pedigree you know top 10 player a former top 10 player and it's great to bring him in coming off of that knee injury and he could really revitalize his career with Dan Roshar so love that he's coming back love love that he's coming in and pushing this because now when you go back to the roster and you look at this tackle position.
Theobened it versus Jedrick wills versus Braxton Jones and I'll throw crown Amagagi out there as someone that is also in there but I know we all kind of know it just feels like this is going to be his last season last shot to do anything and that's what I love about this I know we talk about motivated
I would think both as like a meme and it's one of the funniest memes out of that have happened in recent memory but you have a motivated offensive line as well Braxton Jones this is really his last shot to earn a big contract
crown Amagagi this is his last chance to really do anything in the NFL Jedrick wills the kind of a similar boat he'll probably still get a couple bites at the apple but this is an open job in Theo Benedict I think he's the least motivated because his career is not really riding on it he made it to the NFL and Theo was still just yet again not a great pass blocker run blocker kind of understands that but still when I look at the tape just looks a little lock right out there.
You have this for player race I think it's going to be more of three no offense crown Amagagi and I really like it Jedrick wills took the entire year off and also will be under Dan Rochar I like it and he he kind of reminds me of like the Aussie Trapilo piece where he's got this floor of being not a great tackle or anything like that but I feel like he's got it at least a pretty solid floor when you talk about the type of a player.
He can be unless that left knee injury unless that knee injury is a lot more serious than we thought so I really like this signing seems like a good competitive signing and then lastly with Braxton Jones I do think I like that he has another shot there's a reason why Ben Johnson brought him back in Ben Johnson we trust right and this is the thing if your boss told you I need you to do change your job and this is the things that I want you to work
on but then all hell breaks loose at work and you can't work on any of those things and you can't do any of those things for an entire year and it's like well it was still that now it's like a things of slow down can you focus in on that that's what it feels like with Braxton Jones we all know Braxton Jones cannot anchor to save his life and Johnson has said that he cannot anchor to save his life and not the exact words but that's the thing that now
that he is going to be fully healthy seemingly fully healthy last off season he had a leg injury he can't do the thing that he needs to do to make his lower body stronger he needs to be doing squats and he couldn't last last last off season because of his injuries then after that got banged up it just looked off and then got injured again and now you're hoping that he's okay
and yeah hit the squat rack that's it you don't need to do any upper body workouts just literally hit the squat rack because you need that power in order to you know not get pushed back directly and that's why I really like what's going on with this left tackle situation all things considered I know there's probably somebody out there that's like I want to sign Sam deck and like you know Decker Taylor Decker now we'll see what he ends up coming in at but if Ben Johnson did not
want to add him and also there's you know pieces out there about his shoulder injuries that's actually why he got released from the lions if that's the big piece I trust Ben Johnson I trust Ben Johnson with him and like I said before we sign Braxton Jones after Decker became available so something might have gone on we don't know for a fact if it did or did not so now let's continue on and let's talk about this offensive line
where the bears a lot of their scouting department was out at Kansas State I believe today to seem to see Sam Hector he is kind of he is the consensus number one center that's out there slaughter gets a lot of love I like him from I like him from Florida but Sam Hector is the other center that's out there and quite frankly really good 79.8 zone zone
run blocking grade 77.7 run block grade and a 79.6 pass block grade this guy is would be a very good scheme fit for the bears because of their outside zone he's got some good athleticism to him as well so good fit they have a lot of people out there and I still stand by I think the bears are going to reach a little bit for a center in the second round like in their second second round pick and I'm all for it I'm all for it because I'm normally
the best player available don't reach for certain things center and offensive line that those are positions that a lot of people like to you know they like to reach a little bit but with center when you're talking about center one and center two and center three just get somebody that can be back there because there's a huge gap
after the top three centers that are out there I like Sam Hector I like Jake slaughter those are kind of the two ones that I really like for for the bears so just wanted to throw that out there with them so bears looking at a center in the draft and next before we get into
discussion about Max Crosby just want to let everyone know this show sponsored by fan dual and you can go out there and place a wager on NFC championship winner right now
Rams are number one at plus 390 Packers are plus 900 the Lions plus 850 I would actually do a opposite bet I'm curious how much you can put on the opposite
and I'll take the field rather than the Detroit Lions and the bears plus 1300 let's go for the bears to win the NFC championship so thanks again for fan dual for sponsor in this and what maybe most of us were waiting for maybe some of us don't
we want to hear about this the latest on Max Crosby and the story is just crazy and it's it just reminds me of there's someone that I knew in college and she
would go from boyfriend to boyfriend and there's one time in particular I remember this where she was dating someone and then over a weekend starts talking to another guy
and then what do you know on Monday they break up and the next day she's with this other guy and you don't know what happened obviously but it's the same situation with Max Crosby Max Crosby goes over to Baltimore and Baltimore literally calls
Tray Hendrickson and starts talking to Tray Hendrickson and then afterwards says Crosby we're not going to do this anymore sends it back home and then next morning signs Tray Hendrickson and there's even rumors that hey they already have a deal in place
it's just super fishy loss a lot of respect for the Ravens just because everyone knew about Crosby's knee injury and the way that I see this right now
am I more concerned about Crosby's knee injury after all this stuff that is gone on maybe a little bit but I'm not going like crazy just because I do believe and there's many others and many others I think that like definitely in the majority
the minority thinks that maybe this was legit but everyone saying this is something that it was more of the Ravens being a tool
like the Ravens doing something shiny than actually the true extent of Max Crosby's injury and that's kind of the downside of this all so the Ravens
so the Raiders are trying to trade Max Crosby and what we know on Max Crosby right now is the bears are still in the hunt
let me actually grab the exact tweet I was actually going to pull this up for it but Greg Gabriel said breaking new
he normally doesn't break a lot of news still very well connected with the Chicago Bears but he read he tweeted out that he got a text
message saying so breaking just got a text from a very credible agent who said there is a belief around around the league
that the bears will look into trading for Crosby and then there was just more you know pieces around there about the bears
kind of going back and calling up Crosby now that's we we all kind of expected it and it was just more of hey are they actually
going to go back and call that Crosby so now the big question is how much are they giving up because when Rich Eisen
said two first rounders he got got by a fake account with that whole piece of anyone thinks that that was a fake
account that Rich Eisen got tricked by about the whole bears offering two first rounders that was fake account
Rich Eisen has gotten a couple times as of recent so he needs to maybe lay off a social media with some of that
but really when it boils down to the bears Eagles jacks because according to Jane Slater the cowboys are out as of right now
they're happy with Roshan Gary which is weird to say um but she did say they might come back later when his knee is starting to heal
and I think the moral of the story is this is that Max Crosby he has this knee injury and it seems like the Raiders they
have already communicated we are not moving off of our asking price of two first rounders because they just got that and in their
mind nothing has changed it's just the Ravens being shy see so two first rounders it is where's our two first
rounders I don't I can't see the bears Eagles or jacks poning that up with what was just going on so I think that
people are going to go in with lower offers and I don't think that the Raiders are going to even go off and go after
that and here let me even load up my my phone because I grabbed a screenshot of something I grabbed a little note
so yeah Adam Schaefter has kind of talked about that the Raiders have wanted them all along and there was a couple
other reports I believe it was Diana Rossini um yeah Diana Rossini said for now the plan is for Max Crosby
to be a Raider for the upcoming 2026 season so seems like the Raiders want to keep them seems like
people are not going to be you know I can't see people wanting to offer two first rounders now because they're
going to get yelled at better by their fans like crazy so my take on it is this I think he's going to stay a
Raider for at least the time being and maybe down the road when he's actually rehabbing from his
meniscus tear maybe some people are going to start calling but I feel like after that things would have
at least smoothed over so that's why I think he's going to be a Raider I think he's going to stay a Raider
because I just don't think that the Raiders are going to just up and trade them with with everything
going on and the you know taking potentially less for Max Crosby as long as they can repair
the relationship I think that's that's the biggest piece but it seems like they might be able
to do that so we'll check that out and we'll see what ends up happening with them
