America leads the world in medicine development. It matters. We get new medicines first, nearly
three years faster. Five million Americans go to work because we make medicines here at home,
and not relying on other countries keeps us safe. But China is racing to overtake us.
Will we let them? Or will we choose to stay ahead? When America leads,
America cures. Let's tell Washington to keep us in the lead.

Sam Edmunds chief reporter here at SE and how are you, Sam?
Jared, hello, good to be with you. I feel good at the moment because anxiety is going to hang
thick later on though at the MCG and I'm actually looking at the I'm not sure any potential
Carlton halftime lead will be enough to clear that anxiety either because you've only got to go
back 12 months. You've only got to go back a week. I mean, it's just going to be one of those
nights for council board as you've got to go to the bell. You've just got to go all the way.
Have you enlisted for Blues Radio tonight? I've been silly enough to do that. I mean,
your call team is amazing. Yourself, Dwayne, Ken, Simo, just spare a thought for us over on Blues
Radio. We'll be racked with anxiety in there. In fact, I don't know if Anged does anxiety.
Cuda will be with us as well. Andy Mars, so looking forward to a bit of fun anyway on
SE and Fanatic and across the platform. To Boopa. Yep. We'll probably poke our fun in the
aftermath unless it goes a certain way. All right. The Brisbane line. So this is even worse than
we thought. Yeah, let's straighten up here for a second because this is no laughing matter.
The lines have been dealt another early season blow, Jared. Logan Morris will miss Saturday's
Ram one clash with Sydney. And as you've just touched on, they're already reeling from the loss
of multiple stars from just one game. And they've lost their young goal kicker to a hand injury.
So Logan Morris carried a small fracture into opening round into his hand. Now, we actually
play quite well. Kick three goals, but the decision has been made to sideline him this week to fast
track his recovery. Now, they've got the buy. We'll get to that in a moment next. So the 20-year-old
is expected to only miss the Sydney game, which is some element of silver lining, but his absence comes
amid an early availability crosses for the back-to-back Premier. They'll be yearning for that round
to buy as much as any club. How amazing that that would be their reality. So Harris Andrews,
the three-match band, he and McCluggie just carved in. I mean, just as well, no name three captains
because Josh Dunkel is the last captain standing, Zach Bailey suspended, Darcy Gardner suspended,
and with Harris out Gardner out, Jack Payne out long-term with a knee there without an established
keyback. So Oreshman Dara Joyce will await confirmation later in the day, of course. He might
have to come in. Ryan Leicester might be required to play tall on Charlotte, Colonel. Eric Hippwood won
be available for selection until later in the year. And so with Logan Morris out, that thrusts the
seven-gamer Ty Gallup and the new recruit Oscar Allen into lead attacking roles. So following the
loss to the dogs and this meeting with the Swans, this quest for another three-peat has tough games
to come and it expect nothing less, of course. St. Kilda at Marvel, that will be a tricky assignment
and then Collinwood at the GABA in the next two weeks. So what makes it fascinating for me is that
this club is no stranger to unforeseen setbacks. And they have tapped into their reservoirs of
resilience in long campaigns to get to the last two flags. Injuries and defensive disruptions
naught away last season. They won only two of six games in the middle of the year. They were
smashed by a long and that qualifying final. They go the long way around and they get it done.
Then Chris Fagan's dancing on thin ice mantra underpin 2024. They were two and five. You remember,
they got smack by the giants in Canberra. That was it. They were done. They turned at the halfway
mark with a four and six record with a draw, pretty unflattering. And then they got to fifth.
And as we know, they won it from fifth. So they won't be panicking up there. But gee, we should be
sitting there thinking what else could go wrong in the early phase of the season. I just think that's
the question of the off season has been how does anyone catch Brisbane? Well, this is how they're
playing handicap football at the start of the year. And then I also think and it's because they're
admired. But too much of the commentary has been around. Well, they're just going to win a third.
It is so hard. They have played the maximum games. More games in teams have ever been asked to
play two years in a row to win their titles. Travel. They have they have red lined it for two
years to win their flags. So I know it comes from a good place. But the idea that they're just going
to win a third. Hawthorne's third year was the most difficult by far and away. By far and
away. Coach went down, players lost all over the place. So it would be it would be an extraordinary
campaign to get to three and this is just a little taster at the start of the adversity that you
have in your face. And this is how footy mortality hits and disrupts the dynasties, doesn't it?
Because there's things outside of your control. The game is hard. So it's amazing what they've done
over the last two campaigns, last 24 months, as we say, and a little hiccup at least it's early in
the season for now. But challenges right across the board for them. We'll see how they go.
Other VFL. That is an amazing broadcast. So I'm keen for your take on these four networks.
Siena are a part of it. Channel seven walked away on the eve of the season. Where were they
going to go? Channel seven come back. They're going to broadcast Inditas Mania for every devils game.
Rainmaker. Our very own is producing that. It'll be led by Jason Bennett, formerly channel seven.
KO's in for a 16 game commitment. A number of curtain raises to AFL games on the same service,
which is amazing and kick back in the morning and the early afternoon. I watch a VFL team and then
click of a button. Watch your AFL team. And we're in at Sien sports and entertainment network of I
or Siena Tasmania into Hobart. Sien track into lawnsest and Devon port. All the devils games are
as well. All the home and away games. So an amazing deal for the second tier competition. Yeah. So
hopefully everybody who led the outcry that has led to this now watches. So if you had your
voice and had you say and you've seen this salvaged, I think there's a moral obligation now to
ensure that you support it. There's a commercial reality to these big audience for it. You told
them there was a big audience for it. Now you have to follow through. And there's a heavy just
tipping into that flavor in nostalgia. Like the ABC back on Saturday afternoons. You know, my
generation, your generation, people who grew up watching the VFL on Saturday. Avos. Well,
let's see how it goes back in the outcry didn't match the reality is the deterioration of the VFL
is competition has been very real. And we're hit. We've wanted to focus on the glow rather than
what's real isn't the arrival of Tasmania. That's the really important plank that Gernsey plays
for the first time. But it is such a peculiar competition. No, it needs a it's a bigger conversation.
That isn't yeah. Yeah. Who's in who's not in the teams that are in. Yeah. I have everybody's
rallied round to support it. But I do think it's out of proportion to what it actually is. I think
that's fair. So let's see how it goes from a commercial perspective in this first foray of it.
That's a multi-year deal. So we'll see how it goes in 2026. All right. Terrific Sam. Thank you.
