0:00Hello, I am David Arligates, Director of Research and Education here at the Cornwall Alliance for the Storeship of Creation. Did you know that the Cornwall Alliance is producing online courses to deepen your understanding of how faith, science, and economics intersect? Our courses are designed to equip Christians with the knowledge and tools to navigate environmental, economic, and ethical issues from a biblical perspective and to engage in today's most pressing, environmental, and economic discussions. Currently, we are building a catalog of courses that will be taught by Cornwall staff, including Dr. E. Calvin Beister on biblical Storeship and Theology, VJJ Arige on Environmental Economics, and me on climate and the environment. Currently we have two courses available. Our first is Basic Climate Science, which focuses on providing a basic understanding of the

1:04Earth's atmosphere and its long-term interactions with these factors. We investigate the spatial variability of air temperature, precipitation, atmospheric humidity, winds and the oceanic response to them, and phenomena such as seasons, day versus night, and coastal versus inland differences. We strive to examine the fundamental processes of the atmosphere and provide answers to the question, why and how do the climates of the world vary? What we hope comes from this course is too fold. First is that the mystery surrounding the Earth's climate and ultimately a discussion of climate change can be lifted through a presentation and better understanding of the scientific facts that underlie it. And second is that God's handiwork and thoughtfulness in His creation shines broadly in the Earth's climate as well. Hopefully this course will move you to praise God for all of creation, including the climate system, and provide you with an understanding that the climate system, rather than being extremely fragile such that relatively minor perturbations could result in catastrophic

2:08changes, was designed by God to be robust, resilient and self-correcting. It is something for which God should be praised, rather than worrying about an impending human-caused disaster that threatens to destroy. Our newest course is Modern Water Management, Systems, Policy and Human Needs. This course examines the connections between human society and water by introducing the nature of human demands for water, the possibilities of obtaining additional supplies, and the difficult legal, economic and political questions of water resource management. The examiner of variety of interactions between humans and water, including both human impacts on water resources and the impact of water on human society. I hope you will join me in these two and in subsequent courses to learn more about the Earth's climate, environmental resources, and other topics related to biblical Earth's stewardship.
