It's nearly twenty past three on the 31st of March. We get sort of at the end of the month and there's always a scandal involving the BBC.
This one about Scott Mills is the weirdest one because it went from an allegation to he's been sacked in five days.
The BBC has never done anything this quickly and people are saying well it's because the new the new DG, the new director general starts in a few days time.
And he just wants to walk in without any sort of ongoing controversy but what about natural justice or whatever they call it?
Scott Mills was questioned by the police in 2018 over allegations of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy which is very serious.
But yeah, okay, he was questioned. He was cautioned. And not cautioned. He was interviewed under caution.
But you know, the file was passed on to the prosecutors and they decided not to do anything case closed. Ten years later he gets sacked.
It's all very weird, isn't it?
The full file of evidence was submitted. The term in the evidential threshold had not been met.
And the BBC is saying it's to do with allegations relating to his personal conduct.
But since when do you get sacked if the police have decided we're not going to take this further so he wasn't prosecuted?
Because remember if he was prosecuted and found not guilty then surely it would be unfair if he was then sacked.
If the BBC said well okay, he was he was found not guilty but was sacking him because we had a morality clause in his contract which said you don't have to be found guilty.
But if you're prosecuted that's enough for us to legally be able to sack you. But he wasn't prosecuted.
Therefore he is innocent until proven guilty. He was not proven guilty. Why has he been sacked?
Sounds a bit weird to me. What new information has come out which presumably does not involve the police,
which involves presumably someone coming forward and telling the BBC something? Have they also gone to the police?
Are the police looking at this? Are they thinking of reopening the case? We assume not.
The police haven't as far as I know made any comment about this at all.
It's all very weird and it makes you ask the question does this mean that the BBC are going to start sacking people because of basically an HR issue,
a human resources issue someone makes a complaint and it's just easier to sack the person rather than to kick up a fuss.
It's all really really weird.
Well there's other news of course going on. To do with Trump, Trump has been saying nasty things about not just the British Prime Minister but the British themselves.
Now Labour Future says for too long the UK has been reliant on the US. We must work with NATO but we must also massively invest in our own defence and have a truly independent nuclear deterrent.
The Fleet Army and Air Force is too small this has to change and this is true but this is where Trump is going to get unstuck.
He'll suddenly find that we're no longer spending billions and billions on American made military.
If the whole of Europe decides to stop buying American, America is in trouble.
Anyway, on a lighter note, how about some quotes? You want some quotes?
This is from Mark Twain, the two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.
Simple but powerful.
Another quote, Eleanor Roosevelt, the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
It's a good reminder when you have a tough day and this from Winston Churchill, success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue the counts.
So keep going.
Another one, Mitch Hedberg is a comedian.
I used to do drugs, I still do, but I used to too.
Yeah, classic absurd humor. I'll do that again because I didn't get it.
I used to do drugs, I still do, but I used to too.
No, I don't get that. Maya Angelou.
When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.
A short but brutally honest observation there.
Which one hit you the hardest? Send us a comment or a voice note if you want.
With your favorite quote, the drop one of your own.
And we can read it out on a future broadcast quotes of the day.
Hope. At least one of them stays with you.
