Seahawks Consider Re-signing Jadeveon Clowney

On March 22nd, the Seattle Seahawks are dealing with some big losses on defense after free

agency, including Ed rusher, Boyet Mayfe, Cornerback Reak, Woolen, and Safety, Colby Bryant.

With about $38 million in cap space left, the team has not signed any major free agency

yet to fill those gaps.

One smart, low-cost option floating around is bringing back veteran Ed rusher to Debian

on Clowney, whose market value sits at just $5.7 million for next season.

Clowney already knows the Seahawks new-head coach, Mike McDonald's System.

Well, having thrived under him as defensive coordinator with the Baltimore.

Ravens in 2023, he also spent a full season with Seattle back in 2019, so the fit feels

natural right away.

Fans and analysts see this as a repeat of last off-season success when the Seahawks signed

33-year-old DeMarca's Lawrence from the Dallas Cowboys.

Lawrence delivered six sacks, 20 quarterback hits, and earned a pro-bowl nod while helping

win the Super Bowl.

Clowney just wrapped up eight-and-a-half sacks with 12 tackles for loss in one season with

the Cowboys, proving he can still produce at age 33.

He could slot right into the edge rotation alongside Lawrence, Derek Hall, and Uchenna

Noelsu, keeping pressure high without breaking the bank.

While this would not solve long-term needs, Seattle should still draft a young edge

rusher.

It buys time for rookies to develop and shores of depth now, turning a tough free agency

into a stronger defense overall.
