Seahawks Draft Chris Johnson for CB Depth

The Seattle Seahawks lost cornerback Rick Woolen to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency,

creating a depth issue at the position heading into the 2026 season.

A recent mod draft from the athletic had beat writer Michael Sean Dugor, picking San Diego

State cornerback Chris Johnson at number 32.

Overall to help fill that gap, the team still starts Devin Witherspoon, Nick Emanwery,

and Josh Job from their Super Bowl squad.

But backups like Nehemiah Pritchett, Noah, Iggbina Geen, and Sharmar Jean Charles,

lack Woolen's experience from 917 snaps last year.

Some fans scratched their heads at the choice, especially with Tennessee's Colton Hood and

South Carolina's Brandon Sisse still on the board.

Johnson ranks around number 40 on big boards, which makes the first round projection a bit

bold.

Johnson shown in 2025 with four interceptions, two return for touchdowns, and nine pass

breakups.

His scheme fit works inside or outside.

What stands out most is his smooth footwork, insure tackling at 6 feet and 193 pounds, plus

a 4.440 yard dash, and 38 inch vertical.

That could excite coach Mike McDonald for long term depth.
