Just to get you access to the Discord server and verify to write HBTicks and all sorts
of fun stuff, it's a Friday.
It's not really a blue Friday when it's, you know, what do we say about that?
Is it a blue Friday if it's off season?
I don't know.
I kind of think not.
I think blue Fridays are during the season.
But let me know what you guys think in the chat here.
But this is going to be a little bit of an abbreviated show.
And I say that knowing I have an hour's worth of content, but I got to actually wrap this
up a little early because I've got to be somewhere at 11.
So and if you have happened to be in Seattle and you're looking outside, it is snowing.
There is snow on the ground.
It is still snowing and it doesn't look like it's stopping anytime soon, even though supposedly
it's supposed to turn to rain sooner or later, but I don't know, man.
So I'm going to try to get through as much as I can in a short period of time.
And the plan for today is to kind of go through one.
I think the big news, apparently all we had to do, I didn't realize how much like responsibility
and how much control I had over what the Seahawks do.
I do an entire show yesterday about the running back room and about which direction they
could go.
Door number one and door number two, and we go through all of these players.
These sure enough, they sign a running back.
And sure enough, it's a running back that I didn't talk about.
So I will never claim, I think I got into it with somebody in comments who's like, if
you don't know who, you know, such and such is, and why are we even listening to you?
And I'm like, I will tell you right now, all of you right now, I do not know every player
in the NFL.
I do not know every scouting report about every player in the NFL.
And quite honestly, anybody that does is saying that they do, they do are lying.
They just don't.
And now there's people that know a lot more breadth than I do.
I don't know if there's many people that have as much depth on Seahawks and Seahawks related
maneuvers as I do.
But in any event, I'm always happy to learn a new name and learn a new player.
I mean, Wilson's actually not a new name or a new player, but he is a new Seahawk.
He is a guy that came in for Josh Jacobs last year for the Packers.
And it's funny.
We talked a little bit about Josh Jacobs because over the cap thought that he might be a
cap casualty, which is not going to happen, we're working his deal.
But Emmanuel Wilson started a couple of games while Josh Jacobs was banged up last year
and played pretty well for the Packers.
In fact, he played so well that he became a fan favorite in Green Bay.
He became a guy that some people thought could be a starter if given the opportunity.
He's had a hundred yard game last year, had an 80 plus yard game last year, had multiple
touchdowns and a few games that scored seven touchdowns over the last few years.
And if you watch Emmanuel Wilson play, which I would love to show you highlights, but
I would get copyright demonetized, which I just can't do, sorry.
There are some highlights I put on my Twitter timelines, so you can find those there.
You see with Emmanuel Wilson is just a heavy, footed big back who it has really good contact
balance.
What is contact balancing?
Why don't you just say balance?
Well, it's not a matter of just whether he can stay on his feet when he's running with
no one around or walking on a tightrope.
It is when somebody hits him, does he keep his feet underneath him?
Is he able to continue moving forward?
And if you see the highlights I put on Twitter, most of them are that him, you know, sometimes
running into his own lineman and then bouncing off that guy and staying upright and continuing
to run for sizable gains.
This is not a home run threat guy.
Can he have some explosive plays?
Sure.
I think you're talking generally, you're going to be talking about the 10 to 25 yard range
for his version of explosiveness.
You're not going to get a lot of 50 plus yard runs out of Emmanuel Wilson.
Now I think that where it reads to me what you're getting with this guy is he is the rugged
physical back who is going to be short yardage.
He's going to be a guy that can carry on first and second down as well.
And that is kind of a Zach Sharbonne-esque model.
And so yeah, I think it's fair to characterize this as a bit of a hedge about Zach Sharbonne
's availability to start the year because of the guys that the COX have on the roster.
None of them really profile to a physical back.
I don't think it's quite the same as Zach Sharbonne or as Emmanuel Wilson.
Wilson's an interesting get and I always like it when if you look at the teams that are
losing him and the fan base that's losing him, how do they feel?
Are they celebrating?
Are they saying good riddens?
Are they saying, oh man, God dang it.
And by and large, Packers fans were upset that Emmanuel Wilson was not tendered.
And that's another piece of the puzzle I should mention here and I'll get back to the
Packers fans reactions.
But Emmanuel Wilson was a restricted free agent.
The Packers could have given him a tender and that would have given them the right to match
an offer.
They did not.
And a lot of Packers fans were not happy about that and that this guy has essentially
become a fan favorite because of the physical way that he runs the football.
Should sound familiar.
John Schneider has repeatedly found bruising backs and I think we always kind of attributed
it to Pete Carroll wanting that physicality but keep in mind John Schneider was a running
back back in his playing career, you didn't play in the pros but that's what he was when
he played football.
And when we talked to Brian Brodus who was working as John Schneider's boss when John Schneider
was an intern in Green Bay, he made the joke that John Schneider would draft a running
back at every pick if he was allowed to.
And so the implication there's pretty obvious that John Schneider has a point of view on
the running back position.
And in fact, I forgot I wanted to do this, I'm going to pull this up real quick.
But I think he's got a pretty good track record with who he has picked at that spot and
who he's added.
So I'm pulling that up right now.
Good chance if you haven't already given the show a like and click subscribe.
All right.
Here are the backs that John Schneider has taken through his tenure here and this is just
draft picks.
Rashad Penny, Zach Sharmanay, Ken Walker, Kristen Michael, CJ Procise, DJ Dallas, Robert
Turbin, Alex Collins, Travis Homer, Kenny Magintosh, Chris Carson, Kira Small was more meant
to be a full back.

There's not a lot of misses on that list.
DJ Dallas is even in the league still.
Travis Homer is in the league still and has had a, you know, it's not like they're all
number one backs.
But these aren't guys that have just been absolute washes.
CJ Procise was a fantastic running back to injury issues.
And that does also does not include John Schneider making moves to trade for Marshawn Lynch.
John Schneider getting Thomas Rawls as an undrafted free agent.
He's, I think he's got a pretty good track record, George Halani, undrafted free agent.
People that love Jakarta a right, undrafted free agent.
So I do think he deserves some, you know, benefit of the doubt in terms of where he is
with the running back spot.
And I don't think this means that they're done.
In fact, John Schneider yesterday on his show with Bob Stelton and Dave Wyman talked
about the fact that they're not necessarily done at that position.
And he also praised George Halani and that they liked the room.
So I think this all tracks, I think it all tracks that now that the Emmanuel Wilson raises
the floor a little bit for what the Seahawks have at that position.
You've got a guy that's had reps relatively like last year as a starter.
And he's just 27 years old.
He's on, sorry, 26, I believe.
I think I had the wrong guy up there, Emmanuel Wilson.
Make sure I got that right, but yes, he's 26.
He's almost 27.
He's turning 27 in May, so a couple of months.
And in case you didn't know, 5, 10, 226 pounds, I have his testing scores from the combine
up here as well or in his pro day, I guess.
He went to Fort Valley State, so not a big school.
He was a 35-inch vertical, 10-inch broad, relatively good explosiveness, like 70th percentile,
65th percentile, speed, he ran a 455, which again is not blazing, but not bad for a 230 pound
back.
And where he had poor grades was his agility stuff, his shuttle, his three-cone.
Those were in the 30th percentile, and I think you see that when you watch him.
This is not a guy that's going to be jitter-bugging around people, but he is going to have the
truck stick.
He is going to be a guy that knocks people over, and he's not going to be the guy that runs
out of bounds.
He's going to look for contact.
Yeah, and I see Jay-Z calling me out here, well, well deserved.
I thought I could have sworn we got a super chat about Emmanuel Wilson before, says Brian
didn't think much of Emmanuel Wilson when I sent him a super chat asking about him a
few days ago.
Yeah.
I mean, honestly, I am not infallible here, and part of what I was looking for is different
than what the Seahawks signed.
So when I'm talking about Keaton Mitchell, and I'm talking about some of these other guys,
other than Tyler Algier probably fits this, but I was looking more for explosive runners.
And I think that's what you've really lost with Ken Walker.
And so when you ask me about Emmanuel Wilson, like, yeah, he's a good back.
He's not explosive.
So it feels a little redundant with some of the other skill sets you've got, especially
the relative to Zach Charbonne, but he's fine.
Like he's a fine back.
I think one of the things that's cool about Emmanuel Wilson, as I have got a little bit
more about him, he tweeted out yesterday that this was his childhood team, meaning that
the Seahawks were his, I think, meaning that Seahawks were his favorite team growing up,
which is pretty cool.
So yeah, he wrote really about to sign with my childhood team, which is pretty cool.
So I'm all for those kinds of storylines.
And yeah, yeah, you guys can roast me anytime.
I am not too proud to admit errors or admit when I've missed something.
And yeah, I found it hilarious that I went through all these names yesterday, and Emmanuel
Wilson was not one of them, and that's who they signed.
Take it for it is.
Interesting also Rashad White, who we did talk about, and I also was not that excited about.
He signed, but fascinatingly, he signed a deal with the commanders for the same price
essentially, as what Emmanuel Wilson got, which is, you know, one year, two million dollars.
So I still believe the Seahawks are on the look for a more explosive back.
I do still think Vales Jones is their probably the most explosive opportunity in the backfield
right now.
I do think it sets them up to really look in the draft to add another running back there.
But I know, I mean, you're going to have to hope that the right guy falls to you at the
right time.
And if he doesn't, then maybe you'll just have a different looking running back room.
Or you go over to, you know, the trade market, as we talked about.
I do think this makes it pretty unlikely they would trade for a guy like Alvin Camera,
or some of the veterans that we were talking about.
This to me seems to fit the bill there, but I'm not marking anything off.
That's just kind of my perspective.
All right, so that is Emmanuel Wilson.
The next guy that they signed was Roddy Thomas II.
And I guarantee you, I did not really know Roddy Thomas II before the Seahawks sign up.
So I'm not going to, I'm not going to say this was like exactly the guy I thought they
should add.
But he is a safety.
I think a couple of things that interest me about this signing.
He went to Yale.
And what's, if you guys, if you're a real OG on this show, you'll remember two years
ago when I started this.
And we started trying to pay attention to who they were adding with Mike McDonald as the
new coach.
One of the things that seemed to be a pattern was getting these super smart players.
Like Julian Love was his first extended player.
Byram Murphy was his first draft pick who graduated, like he graduated a year early.
Christian Haynes has a master's degree.
Like, there was these things where I'm like, they want smart players.
And the, at least the report based on what John Schneider said, you never know how these
things are.
But is that Roddy Thomas had opportunities elsewhere?
But he really is excited to play in this defense.
And if you're really smart, getting hooked up with Mike McDonald seems like a pretty good
deal.
And even though Roddy Thomas, not the most well-known name, he was, he was a starter at
free safety for the Colts.
And he's six to 200 pounds.
He ran a four five 40 and had a 41 inch vert and 10 inch broad.
So he was in the 96 percentile for explosive grade.
He was like, his 20 yard split was 995, which was, sorry, 250, which was in the 99th percentile,
his 20 yard split doing the 40 yard dash.
So this is a ranger.
It has good agility grades as well.
And he's had some reasonable success back when he was a starter in terms of at least making
some plays on the ball.
And pulling that up here, like he had, he had four interceptions as a rookie, two more
as a sophomore, second year player and with the Colts.
And then essentially was not getting snaps the last couple of years, or at least not
as many snaps the last couple of years.
So I'm going to pull him up here, like last year he started one game against the Packers
had 70 snaps and that did not get more than four snaps in any other game.
He didn't get more than 50 snaps, sorry, 100 snaps in 2024, but he was 962 snaps in
2023, 720 in 2022.
And he's almost 28, he'll be 28 in June, but you have to assume that this is a guy that
they're looking to basically kind of be a post safety for them that they can trust to
cover a lot of ground and he'll be in the fight like they've got now at the safety spot.
We're talking about Tio Cotta and Julian Love and Rodney Thomas, you've also got Max
in hook still on the roster.
And I think safety is a really promising position in this draft class.
So all of that's still available and still in front, if they're interested in, I particularly
like that he is fast, tall and smart, like let's just see what the coaches do with someone
like that.
That's, you know, I'm interested actually I'm going to do something real quick here if
I can.
Can I, can I compare him to, I want to compare him to Tio Cotta.
So Tio Cotta, yeah, interesting.
So Tio Cotta, who's also was an athletic safety from a small school on Tennis State.
He's shorter, five, 10, 190 pounds, similar explosive grade, 41 inch, vert, same what Rodney
Thomas was, his 40 time, 447, so a little bit faster, but same kind of range.
His 20 yard split was a little slower than Rodney Thomas.
His agility was better.
So I mean, I really like Tio Cotta.
I think Tio Cotta can be a plus starter and has been for the Siocs recently last year.
But adding Rodney Thomas, who's also been a starter, I think is good and young and has
not been getting playing time and you see what the coaching staff does.
Plus, I think you maybe look to add additionally in the draft.
Other things to be aware of, Emmanuel Wilson was a restricted free agent, was not tendered.
His signing does not count against the compic formula.
Rodney Thomas was signed for very little.
So it is likely, I think almost certain, that he will not count against the compic formula.
And the Siocs still are tied for the NFL lead in terms of draft picks expected for.

Next year, 12 picks, including what would be four comp picks.
And I wanted to play a little sound for you from a GM.
This is James Gladstone, who is the Jaguar's GM.
And this is him talking about the benefit of comp picks.
And in return, by not signing any outside reagents, we recouped 2027 draft capital.
And I think on its surface, you would think, oh, OK, you're going to make picks in 2027.
Whereas in reality, those draft picks and having more of them actually allows you the luxury of remaining in the hunt at different intervals throughout the entire calendar year for acquiring players.
You think about training camp a year ago and using a day three pick to acquire a wide receiver in 10 Patrick, you think about ahead of the trade deadline and being able to use two picks on day three to acquire a wide receiver into Kobe Myers.
Without that draft capital at your disposal, you may not be as willing or able to relinquish some of those future picks.
So by building that up, now it allows us the luxury of remaining sort of with the flexibility to do those sorts of things as we move into the next stages of the off season and into the regular season.
So again, this is just more explanation about, and this was a super chatter yesterday, who I eventually got there where what he was getting at that having 12 picks, even though you technically don't get your comp picks until next year.
Having 12 picks or being pretty certain you're going to get 12 picks allows John Schneider flexibility that if he wants to trade up and around in this draft, he can.
It also gives him flexibility to make trades after the draft as we talked about that might be a period where he's looking and he and I've talked about that that that's.
There's like this sweet spot about when trades start to really happen happens often right after the league meeting, but before the draft.
And then also mid season trades like the sea ox got Rashid Shaheed for a fourth and a fifth.
If you're getting a fourth and three fifths for your approach this free agent period, I think that's that's a notable and the other thing that I thought was interesting here.
I don't know if you guys follow segment bloom old football guys been around Twitter for a long time, but he.
He was giving grades for free agency so far and he gave three teams and a plus the bears, the chargers and the sea hawks, I thought that was really, really interesting and I actually am going to probably get segment on the show at some point he can kind of talk through it.
For what it's worth, he gave the Rams and a he gave the Cardinals a C minus and he gave the 49ers a B minus we're going to talk about what they all pulled in just a second as I go through the different teams in the NFC West.
Alright, so.
Let me, I think there's a couple super chats let me get to those Kyle has joined as a YouTube member welcome James Cooper says Schneider seems to like Kenny Macintosh hopes you can say healthy was definitely good around all around back in college for back to back national championship winners.
Agreed agreed.
All right, so let's let's go around the rest of the NFC West because a lot's happened and it's worth talking about.
So this is a look at the sea hawks first.
What happened yesterday, additionally, but beyond signing Rodney Thomas and signing a manual Wilson.
They also signed the Anthony Bell, which is a guy that I had recommended that the sea hawks go out and potentially get for the safety spot. So I forgot when I was going through the safety positions.
They also added him so they don't need to draft a safety because Anthony Bell started some games for them at safety last year. He's also an excellent special teams player. He also will not hit the comp pick formula.
But I think that the sea hawks three external.
Signing's a manual Wilson Rodney Thomas Anthony Bell great.
You've brought back Brady Russell and Josh Jones AJ Finley also a safety by the way.
So like they do have now a bit of a pile at safety more than I imply just a few minutes ago.
This is why I have these these spreadsheets to help me keep it all straight.
And then Brandon Peely signing back last yesterday as a nose tackle.
I think was really important.
This is a guy that Justin Hines told me before the Super Bowl.
He just feels like this is a huge offseason for Brandon Peely and that he can make a really big jump.
And he's amazing athlete.
So I think that was a great one to get back and you essentially got almost your entire starting number one defense back and available from where it was a year ago.
All right, so we know we know the other folks here essentially what that leaves is.
Chas Sarat Cody White are really the last two sea hawks free agents out there.
Jarek Young signed with the Raiders yesterday.
So he'll hopefully get a chance.
I'm really rooting for Jarek.
I'm hoping he gets a chance to be involved more as a receiver.
Clint Kubiak obviously knows him well from his time last year.
So good for Jarek Young.
And we'll find out what happens with Jake Bobo who is a still tendered restricted free agent but has not signed.
So he's not officially a sea hawk again, not until they come to terms.
And he still could find another team that offers him more than the sea hawks are willing to spend.
All right.
So that's the sea hawks.
But let's look.
Let's look at the 49ers.
Let's look at the 49ers because the 49ers had an active day and have had an active free agent week.
They added Mike Evans on what's essentially a one year like $16 million deal.
They resigned their kicker Eddie Piniero who did well for them last year after the disaster of Jake Moody in the draft.
They signed Vardarian Lowe who's a tackle and could be somebody who.
Is a hedge against Trent Williams but we'll find out they resign Jake Tonjes.
Then yesterday they brought back Jarek Greenlaw linebacker for one year seven and a half million bucks and they signed Nate Hobbs a corner.
One year four and a half million bucks.
And the green law move is really interesting because.
He's an excellent excellent player.
He's a tone setting player for them.
And the only question with Jarek Greenlaws is health.
That's really the only question.
And it's a meaningful question.
But if he's able to play and stay on the field.
This is a big addition for the 49ers.
There are other linebacker position has been a little bit of a disaster since he got injured.
And last year with the Broncos he played 324 snaps.
He was a well-graded player when he was out there.
So it's really going to be about his health more than anything else.
But that's a big one.
And then they get the defensive tackle from.
From the Cowboys.
They traded a third.
And I think this is a huge addition for them.
He is kind of the more classic three technique defensive tackle who's going to be somebody who.
Is a pass rusher more than a runstopper.
They in a draft last year they drafted a couple.
Defensive tackles and Alfred Collins and.
Who is the kid from Indiana.
CJ West.
That are runstoppers or at least meant to be.
And if you pair them with osa.
I think that's a that's a nice young promising group.
And you might ask why the Cowboys would give up a really good.
Three tech knows rushing defensive tackle.
They had three defensive tackles making over 20 million a year.
They traded for Kenny Clark and they added Quinn and Williams.
And so they had a pile there and and ended up feeling like they.
Should kind of shift the value somewhere else on their roster.
The 49ers benefit from it.
So I do think the 49ers have improved.
I think they're in much better shape now than they were a year ago.
So I think that's a lot of it's going to depend on how they do in the.
Health department, which jokes aside.
I mean, is Christian McCaffer going to stay healthy again is.
George Kittle going to recover in place full season is Trent Williams going to be on the team.
Is he going to stay on the field?
Dre Green law Fred Warner.
Nick Bosa.
You get the idea idea.
So they've got, you know, even younger guys like.
They're they're receiving core.
So.
I look at the 49ers.
I see a lot of people saying they're super bowl contenders.
Sure.
Sure.
In the sense they're probably one of the top 10 teams in the NFL.
A lot is dependent on how things go with their health.
I'll get into a little bit more breakdown of where the 49ers had a weakness.
And whether or not they've addressed it.
But all in all, I.
I was a 49ers fan, which you know I am not.
I would be very positive about what the 49ers have done.
My biggest criticism is.
I really got younger Osa's younger, but Mike Evans is not.
It's one of the oldest.
If not, I think it is the oldest offense in the NFL.
Dre Green law is a little bit older.
I mean, he's only 29, but he is certainly.
Been injured.
So.
I don't think the roster offensively is set up.
Other than.
Really.
Brock Purdy and.
The right guard who I'm spacing on right now.
Who I wanted the sea ox to draft.
Doesn't matter.
It's going to bother me though.
So I'm going to find out.
They don't have a lot of youth on Dominic Pune.
Dominic Pune.
So.
I would give them a positive grade.
Like.
Maybe like B plus a minus.
I think I think they've done relatively well.
I don't think it's a long term plan.
But I think they've made their team better.
If we look at the Arizona Cardinals.
Arizona Cardinals.
Who no one's worried about, but they've, you know,
they lost Kyler Kyler Murray.
Who signed with the Vikings.
And I got to say I'm.
I'm.
I'm a small person.
And so.
And I mean that probably both figuratively and literally.
But.
All the Kyler Murray.
Short jokes.
Just kill me.
There's every meme I see makes me laugh.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Um.
Uh.
So.
So, uh, anyway, Kyler Murray's gone.
They go to Gardner Minshu as their competitor at quarterback to.
I'm.
Jacobi Berset.
And I just think that puts a limit on.
How good this team can be.
Um, they do sign a decent guard and Isaac Simolo.
Uh, Simolo.
Uh, I love the Tyler Algier side and you know that.
Roy Lopez.
I'm a huge fan of.
And I think that was a really good get for them to bring him back.
Strong run defender.
Uh, Kendrick born fine as a receiver, like middleing.
Uh.
Interesting.
Like they got a Jonah Williams, which is not there.
There who had been playing right tackle for them.
But they did lose Jalen Thompson as well, who I think is a solid safety.
Um, I've always liked him.
So.
I can't really make the case that the Cardinals have gotten a lot better.
And I don't exactly understand what they're doing at running back with James Conner,
who they read it his deal to keep him.
They already have trade Benson.

They've just got kind of a pilot running back that it doesn't really make sense to me,
but that's where Arizona is.
Then you've got the Los Angeles Rams, who's everybody's crowning as the next Super Bowl
champ.
Let's be honest.
They just lost yesterday their first free agent.
It had not been an exciting enough free agent list for the Rams.
If you look over here, look at this list of all these guys that have not yet signed.
Just keep that in mind in the sense that everyone was talking about how talented the Rams
are.
A lot of free agents for them are not getting picked up by other teams.
Then you look at what they've done.
The big move, obviously trading for Trent McDuffy and Sionling Jalen Watson, and then they
bring back Cam Curl.
Their secondary has a lot of talent.
They bring back Tyler Higby, and then they signed today.
This was an interesting move.
They signed Grant Stewart, who is kind of a lion's, well, he's a special team's ace, and
they signed me a two-year deal, so not a one-year deal.
We know that special teams was a big issue for the Rams, and so it's not surprising that
the Rams, oh, someone's saying to you two out, we'll sign with Miami.
I must have missed that one.
Thank you for letting me know.
The Rams on paper are probably the most improved team in the NFC West through one week.
I don't think you can make the case as much as I believe the Seahawks improvement this
year is not about adding players from outside the team.
I think it's about development of the guys that are already here and continuity with the
guys that are already here and the coaching staff and all that stuff.
But look, I think the Rams have added, every player that they've added is a very, very
solid player.
The players they brought back are solid players.
I don't have a lot of criticism of what they've done.
My biggest criticism of what the Rams have done is, Tremac Duffy is best as a nickel corner.
It seems like they're going to play him an outside corner, given that they had just extended
Quentin Lake last year, so they have a little bit of a pile at the interior, you know,
a nickel corner spot.
But for all I know, they have a plan there that's different than what I'm expecting.
I like what they've done.
I think their personnel decisions for years have been really, really solid, hard to criticize.
The ones that I've questioned, I've been wrong more than often than I've been right.
The Rams have improved, I think.
Do I think that the Rams are this clear favorite to win the division?
No, I don't.
I don't think you can become a clear favorite to win the division until, honestly, until you
get far closer to the regular season, certainly until after the draft, and until you get
some eyes on these players.
I just will never stop reminding folks that the Seahawks just won the Super Bowl, and they
beat the Rams two out of three times.
I don't believe, consider that in one of the only games the Rams won, they picked off,
they picked off Sam Donald four times, and the other one that they almost won, they picked
them off twice.
I don't know that the secondary was really what was keeping the Rams from beating the
Seahawks.
Special teams was a big part of it.
Run defense was a big part of it, and that's why my eye is a little bit more on what
of the Seahawks going to do in terms of explosive runners, because Ken Walker was a primary
part of how they attacked the Rams, both as a receiver and as a runner, and I don't necessarily
valous Jones is the closest to that kind of skill set, but I don't really see all the
pieces fitting together there yet in the way to kind of challenge that defense in that
way.
So, yeah, I'm not going to sit here and just say, oh, the Rams suck and the Rams made,
no, the Rams.
I told you all last year, the Rams were an incredibly good team, and it was a coin flip
who was going to win when they faced the Seahawks.
I know a lot of people are just going to assume the Seahawks are screwed.
I'm not.
I just, I don't think you can underestimate how much it matters to have Sam Donald in the
system for two years in a row for the first time in like, who knows how long, and to have
the confidence that he's won a Super Bowl, and that his teammates know that they've won
a Super Bowl, a lot goes into that.
And I think another year with Rashid Shaheed and Tori Horton in the off season and getting
more time with them, going to be huge.
I think the offensive line is going to be even better.
I think there's a lot of reasons the Seahawks can just stick with what they've got and be
a meaningfully better team than they were last year.
That's a little bit harder to communicate and articulate than the clear tangible thing
of we've added this player that's never been on our team before, and he plays a position
that we needed someone to play, and he's really good.
That's an easier story to tell.
But it doesn't erase the fact that what I said was true, like improving as a team with
the guys you already have and continuity, look, there's a reason the salary cap leads to
all this equalization across the NFL because you don't get to keep your good players for
as long as you want, and you don't get to have the continuity that you had before the
salary cap was implemented.
The teams that were dynasties, the 49ers and the Cowboys, way, way, way back before the
salary cap, it was because they were able to keep their great players together.
And for the most part, the Seahawks have done exactly that.
They've lost one starter on offense and arguably one starter, well, yeah, I would say one
starter on defense, which was Kobe Bryant.
So yeah, that's kind of where things stand.
All right.
I think I double check on superchats here before I got a wrap up and get out of here.
Casey Reynolds says, just me here as a manual Wilson, give Chris Carson vibes, that is
who his taper mind me of and we all love Carson.
Certainly physical, Chris Carson was cut like a Greek God.
Like this guy was someone that adds a rookie, the veterans were like, whoa, like, okay, he
was just chiseled.
I don't think a manual Wilson is that.
I think he's a little, a little bit more heavy than muscular, but he's certainly tough
and he certainly runs really hard.
So I think people are going to really enjoy that.
Certainly we all enjoy physical runners up here in Seattle.
All right, that'll do it for this episode of Hawk Vlogger Mornings.
If there's anything big that happens, I'll be back for you later today.
Otherwise, I think Jeff and I will be with you for a Seahawks Saturday tomorrow.
Take care.
