Sean Payton: Broncos Target Tight End in Draft

On March 31st, Sean Payton, head coach of the Denver Broncos, admitted he's running

a bit late on his prep for the 2026 NFL draft, mainly because his squad desperately needs

a fresh tight end.

They still have Evan Ingram on the roster, but Payton is not impressed after a down year

where Ingram posted just 461 receiving, yards and one touchdown across 16 games.

Had coaches like Payton, usually play more of an advisory role on draft night anyway, offering

input while the general manager and scouts handle the real grind.

The Broncos hold just seven picks heading into that draft, one of the league's lightest

halls, with nearly all coming on day three after they shipped.

Their first, third and fourth rounders to Miami for star-wide out Jalen Waddle.

Payton's remarks point straight to targeting a tight end around their second round slot

at the 62nd overall pick, where prospects like, Vanderbilt's Eli Stowers, last year's

John Mackie Award winner, or Notre Dame's Eli Raredin, could slide in this thin class

at the position.
