Hey there everybody, I'm Jordan Hansen, host of Daybreak Devotions, simple truths for
0:22
The Hansen household got a new puppy coming up on two years ago now, so not really a puppy
0:27
anymore, but I'm not really sure the dog knew her own name for the first six months
0:32
because I would yell it all the time with hardly any response.
0:37
I would call and call and call and still get hardly a head tilt from her.
0:43
I was usually trying to keep her from danger or from getting into trouble, sometimes it
0:48
was her food or a treat for her to eat.
0:51
There are all sorts of reasons that I would call her name, and still she would ignore
0:55
me like I was a kiosk worker in the middle of the mall that you're hoping doesn't speak
0:59
to you as you walk past.
1:02
Not until she learned that I had good things in store for her, did she learn to listen
1:06
and when she did, she learned her name, and now she knows to listen each time I call
1:13
The Bible says in Jeremiah 3.22, My wayward children says the Lord, come back to me and
1:20
I will heal your wayward hearts.
1:22
Yes, we're coming, the people would reply, for you are the Lord our God.
1:28
The people of Israel and Judah had spent so much time ignoring God that they hardly recognized
1:35
his voice through the prophets.
1:37
They ignored the warnings.
1:39
They treated the prophets harshly, if not even violently.
1:43
The successive generations forgot their own name and didn't realize that God had been
1:49
calling out to them the entire time.
1:52
Not until they'd reached rock bottom, and when that happens, the only voice calling
1:56
them out of the pit is God's.
2:00
He's calling out to you if you're alert, lost, confused, or held captive by sin.
2:07
He's willing to heal your heart, turn back to him, let him know you're coming.
2:13
And remember, God's not the problem.
2:20
Hey folks, thanks for listening in.
2:22
We hope you enjoyed today's episode, and if you're ready for a breakthrough, join us
2:26
again tomorrow for another daybreak devotional.
