South Australia's opposition liberals have uncovered a second case, where the state-labor

government shared a patient's private medical details without consent.

This time, it involved a woman from the Barossa region who spoke out after facing four canceled

surgeries.

The health minister's office sent her information to journalists in response to her criticism

of the health system.

This comes right after a week in email mistake, where officials shared what they thought

was a message from a dying patient's partner.

It turned out to be from another man with the same name, leading to widespread reports

of the wrong details.

The woman, speaking at a press conference with liberal leader Ashton Hurn, and health

spokesperson Heidi Jurellamo, said she never gave permission for.

She stressed the need to protect patient privacy amid growing concerns over how health

data is handled.

Liberal leaders call the incidents a serious breach of trust between patients and the health

system.

They demanded that health minister Chris Picton step aside until an independent probe

looks into whether this is isolated or a pattern.

Premier Peter Malinowskas defended Picton, saying he would not accept a resignation even

if offered.

Picton has apologized for the first blunder, but pressure is mounting for a full review

to restore confidence in patient information security.
