SECUR3D Holdings targets AI-driven counterfeits with automated brand protection platform
About this episode
SECUR3D Holdings CEO Otis Perrick joined Steve Darling from Proactive to discuss how the company is using artificial intelligence and automated monitoring technology to combat the growing threat of counterfeit, infringing and unlicensed content online.
Perrick said SECUR3D developed its platform in response to the rapid rise of generative AI, which has made it easier for bad actors to create convincing copies of brand logos, products, digital merchandise and other intellectual property. The company's technology is designed to identify potentially infringing material across online marketplaces and platforms and proactively initiate takedown actions.
SECUR3D currently monitors up to 14 identified online platforms for its partners, with the technology designed to scale to approximately 30 platforms or potentially thousands, depending on the scope of a customer's monitoring requirements. Perrick emphasized that online infringement is a continuous challenge, as counterfeit listings can disappear from one platform only to quickly reappear somewhere else, making persistent monitoring an important component of the company's offering.
The company is targeting a broad range of customers, including luxury brands, automotive manufacturers, professional sports leagues, gaming platforms and individual content creators. Perrick highlighted platforms such as Roblox, Fortnite, TikTok and Instagram, where unauthorized digital merchandise and content can spread rapidly.
He also pointed to an example involving unlicensed digital merchandise created following an NBA event, illustrating how quickly unauthorized content can emerge and how difficult it can be for rights holders to monitor infringement across multiple online channels.
On the product side, Perrick confirmed that AssetSafe is already commercially available and in use, while the company's Sentry platform remains under active development. AssetSafe is designed to help protect digital assets and intellectual property, while Sentry represents the company's ongoing development efforts to expand its automated brand-protection capabilities.
Looking ahead, Perrick said the next three to six months will focus on advancing Sentry development and converting the company's existing pipeline of potential partnerships into signed commercial agreements. Management believes expanding adoption of its technology could create additional value for existing customers and shareholders.
