Hello everyone, Charles, welcome back to Inside Arsenal.
It is Friday. The weekend is very nearly here.
I hope you're having a good one,
wherever you're watching or listening to this around the world.
As always, thank you very much for joining me.
We are only halfway through the international break now.
Eight days away from Arsenal returning to action in the FA Cup.
Of course, then it's a Champions League and then finally,
finally, we get back to Premier League action.
Good night for Arsenal players last night in there
with their international teams.
Anyway, Victor Jochrez, brilliant night for him.
Patrick for Sweden against Ukraine.
That was fantastic for him and for his country.
Obviously,
because you know God was on target as well for Denmark,
Ricotta Calafiri, Gavin Mastersley.
In action, we got plenty of Arsenal players.
In action later on today for their national teams as well.
So we're going to round all that up in today's video.
Talk a little bit about Miles Lewis, Skelley,
some reaction from you guys, myself and James Benjler.
We're talking about Miles yesterday in the Inside Arsenal
extra time episode that we did.
And the links with Manchester United,
and they've been quite a lot of reaction to that.
So I thought I'd share some of those as well.
Right, so we start with the International's end.
As I said, brilliant night for Victor Jochrez.
Obviously, Sweden have had a miserable time of things
for the last year or so really in there.
World Cup qualifying campaign was where I was an
object failure really when you look at some of the players
that they've got.
Certainly it's some of their talent attacking players
that they've got.
But I did manage to sneak into the into sort of playoffs
because of their performances in the nation's league.
And they certainly took advantage of that second chance yesterday
in their semifinal against Ukraine.
Three one winners and a big Vick.
The man at a moment for Sweden score in all three goals.
Brilliant hat trick from him.
And so obviously taking a lot of the plaudits.
They was really, really good hat trick from Jochrez.
So the third almost a penalty class at Jochrez penalty.
Thumped it in.
But I loved the first two goals.
They're very different goals.
Obviously, if you haven't seen them yet,
try and find them.
The first one was really, really good movement.
It's the thing I've sort of criticized Jochrez
for a fair amount this season is his movement in the box
and his anticipation when crosses came in.
But it was a fantastic work for him yesterday doing exactly that.
Balls worked out to the left,
powered in sort of fizzed across the six yard box.
And Jochrez drifted off his man,
got into space and lovely finish to open a score in his second goal.
It was really good as well early on in the second half.
Showed some really good feet, got into the ball in that left hand channel
that we know that Jochrez loves to work in.
Moved his feet well, beat his man, dropped a shoulder.
And it was a finest finish from Jochrez.
Kind of like side footed past it into the far corner tier on re-style almost.
Which again, you never really associate that much for Jochrez.
He's normally very much head down,
put his foot through the ball and really wallip it when it comes to his finishing.
There's not often that much finesse about it,
but it was yesterday in that really good goal.
And then obviously got the penalty late on Ukraine got a goal right right on an injury time.
I think it was, but yeah, three won win for Sweden.
So they're in the playoff finals now.
They got a chance.
Good chance again.
Book a nest spot at the World Cup.
That'll be next week.
Denmark as well.
Chris, you know God's scoring.
I think there'd be North Macedonia Macedonia.
That was for no.
I got the fourth goal from a set piece.
So good win for them.
Ricardo Califuri played the full 90 minutes for Italy as they beat Northern Ireland.
In Bergamo to set out their spot in the playoff finals.
I was watching some of the clips from Califuri today.
From the game sort of compilation of these games,
because I didn't watch much.
I was sitting there watching it and I was thinking,
you know what we need to get him back in the starting 11.
Califuri on a regular basis.
You know, and Califuri's done really well.
He's playing well.
He's been one of Arsenal's best players of late.
But I do think that Arsenal's.
Down turn in attacking output.
This season.
You can kind of directly link it.
It sounds stupid because we're talking about a left back here.
But you can kind of directly link it to.
The moment that Califuri started picking up his injuries and lost his place in the team.
And I'm not saying it's down to him.
Capier.
But I just think when Califuri's in the team and you look at some of the play yesterday.
Some of his.
The sort of passes he was playing, breaking the lines and all that.
And we saw it almost when he came on against Manchester City in the Cup Final last week.
And that sort of brief sort of 25 minute cameo when Arsenal did actually improve at that time.
I was just watching some of the highlights from yesterday's game thinking,
you know what I just think would be a better team.
With Califuri in it will often more.
And it's not like he's not a good defender.
He's a good defender and he's shown that.
This season.
So I would I'd be very, very happy if I saw Califuri back in the starting line up.
And what's the international break is over and done with is if you do this running.
So it's a good win for them anyway fritzley.
They they not have Northern Ireland.
I was watching the Wales game last night.
Unfortunately for Wales going out penalty for public of Ireland going out on penalties as well.
Gabriel Martin and he played most of the game for Brazil.
They lost Martin.
It was quite sharp to be fair in the bits and pieces that I saw of him at one good shot.
It was left foot in the first half that went.
Just wide, but Brazil losing over in the States to France.
10 man France actually.
I can't I got sent off in that game.
So that was a sort of round up no injuries.
Or certainly no injuries that we know about, which is good from those round of fixtures last night.
Involving the Arsenal players of the picture of Christian nor God celebrating his goal there.
And now obviously Califuri in the in action for Italy as well.
So no injuries that's a good sign fingers crossed we can do that tonight as well.
We can continue that theme tonight.
There's some some of the fixtures to look out for if you're watching on YouTube can see them.
We got Marsula Skelly and Tommy set foot in action thing London 21's tonight.
They play and Dora in and Dora.
We've got the England game.
Obviously against Uruguay is no sacra and rice involved in that one yet.
They will link up for the second game next week.
But Madaway K and Ben White will talk about Ben White in a minute.
Madaway K as well as been speaking about his relationship with the client sack.
I wouldn't be surprised if Madaway K starts tonight.
Big opportunity for him tonight.
You know, he played very, very well under Thomas Tuckle.
Lost his place in the squad last time out because of injuries, but he's back now.
There's no sacra involved in this game.
So you mentioned Madaway K.
I'll certainly start.
It'll be a big opportunity for him to put a bit of pressure on when it comes to that start and line up for England.
Because we know much Thomas Tuckle likes him.
I have it in action for Germany.
They're playing Switzerland ball.
And then we got a rise.
You've meant the Moscow of course could be.
Moscow is first senior appearance for Spain.
But it is coming in a friendly.
So he could still pledge his international allegiance to Columbia.
Even if he does play for Spain tonight.
We got him capiate as well, who was playing for Ecuador against Morocco.
That is in Spain in Madrid.
That game.
So that's what we got to look out for tonight.
Just on Madaway K.
He was talking about because I sacra at the press conference.
He was the player up in the media press conference yesterday in front of the England press back.
And he was asked about sacra and that relationship that they have both in terms of club level and international level as well.
How close they are.
Even though they're competing for the same position basically for club and for country.
And he says, I think anyone who knows us or sees us knows we have a real mutual love and respect for each other.
There are bits of his game that I try to take.
And I think there are bits of mine that he tries to take as well.
We're very, very close.
We know regardless who's playing.
We're meant to be pulling in the same direction.
And that is not going to change.
Which is good good stuff from him.
But I do think as I said tonight, there's an opportunity for Madaway K here.
Look, sacra has not been in great form.
We've sat there, we've talked about it on the channel.
He's not at a great season.
Madaway K, when he's performed for Arsenal has done pretty well this season.
I think when you look at Madaway K season, it's been a bit hit and miss his classic Madaway K really does blow hot and cold.
But he's done some good stuff for Arsenal.
But especially for England, the under Thomas Tuckle, he's been a very, very good performer.
And Thomas Tuckle likes him.
And I think.
Badaway K here'll be looking at tonight.
With no sacra around is a real opportunity to sort of lay down a little bit of a marker to the sacra ahead of the World Cup.
So there's a big opportunity for him.
We might see Ben White.
Might see him is going to be interested in what sort of reception he gets.
I imagine there's going to be booze from the England fans, not all of them.
But some of them who have been probably whipped up into a little bit of a frenzy by some of them.
Some of the stuff we've had to see in the media this week from some journalists to be fair, who I think should know better.
And yeah, it'll be interesting.
I mean, Ben White's not going to care.
He's his sort of character.
He's going to be able to brush those sort of that sort of reaction off.
I think he probably expects it as well.
He's been out of it in the international set up for a long, long time.
I think he would have known when he decided to come back and make himself available.
Under the new management and coaching staff that if he was to get picks and he was to come back,
then he was going to have to face a little bit of scrutiny and about why he made his decision and everything like that.
But some of the stuff I've seen in the media just disappoints me.

I spoke about it earlier on in the week because there's good reasons why Benoit didn't.
He didn't make himself unavailable for England.
He made himself unavailable.
All the stuff when I see, you know, really respected German saying he's turned his back in his country and stuff like that.
He's frankly rubbish because he didn't.
He just refused to play under a certain coaching staff.
It's not turning your back in any country.
As soon as that coaching staff left, he made it very aware to Thomas Tuckle that he was very willing to play for England.
He never wanted to play for England.
He just couldn't play and decided he was unable to play under a certain coaching staff.
So it is very, very different.
I think that needs to be pointed out more when people are talking about Benoit,
rather than just doing the whole, or he turned his back on the country,
which is just really poor and lazy sort of analysis of the whole situation.
From journalists as well, who do know the situation?
Or don't know the ins and outs of the situation because none of us do.
But we're pretty aware of kind of what the issues were and why there were issues as well.
So I'm a bit disappointed in that.
But anyway, Thomas Tuckle has been talking about Benoit in the press conference yesterday.
He was asked about the situation.
He said, look, I think everyone deserves a second chance.
I don't know exactly what happened.
I was not 100% interested in that as I wanted to open up a new page.
That made me laugh.
I'm pretty sure Thomas Tuckle knows exactly what happened.
He said, once I asked Ben, if he would be ready to play for me in England,
he said straight away and without hesitation that he would love that.
And he was desperate to come back.
I think it's necessary.
He clears the airs with his teammates.
Nothing when players come back who are with him at the World Cup.
When the charts opened up for him, no.
With the injuries, quants are very, very late.
The reaction came within seconds and was very euphoric and very positive.
But he was emotional about it, which shows me that he really means it.
The way he behaves in his training in the camp has been very good and shows his qualities.
See, I mean, you can't make it more obvious than that.
That reaction from Benoit.
He was desperate to go back for England.
He wanted to play for England.
He wanted to play for his country.
But there was things that that happened that made him feel just too uneasy, too uncomfortable,
to be able to do that under the previous management and coaching staff.
It's pretty obvious.
And you can see by the reaction when Thomas Tuchel rings him and says, I want you back.
He's immediately, yeah, absolutely.
I'll come back and play.
So, you know, I know how it works.
I know how it works.
But even so, it's been a little bit disappointed with how some of it has been.
It has been reported this week.
And I think the reaction we're probably going to see from some of the fan base.
So at Wembley tonight, it's going to be as a direct consequence of that.
And I think that's just a little bit of a little bit of a disappointment.
But as I said, I'm not worried about it affecting Benoit or impacting Benoit.
He's a very strong guy.
He's got a great character, really strong personality.
I don't think it's going to affect him in any way.
Really.
Okay, let's talk quickly about Miles Lewis Kelly.
Shall we?
And myself and James did did speak about him yesterday.
And so at our structural side, we haven't seen that episode yet.
We'll listen to episode eight.
You can find it down down below in your in your in your YouTube or in podcast links.
And yeah, is that the links to Manchester United.
Obviously, they're very, very interesting.
I don't, you know, I don't want Miles Lewis Kelly to leave.
I absolutely don't want Miles to leave.
But if he were to leave in the summer and ask them were to receive a really good offer.
And given we know they need to make some money on some players.
You know, I can see it from a business point of view.
Would I like it?
Absolutely not.
Do I want to see it?
No.
Would I want to see him get a Manchester United?
Of course I wouldn't.
But I've sat here and said this in the past that we're going to have to as fans.
I think except some.
Some decisions that we're not going to be that are not going to be met with.
Massive massive popularity is summer when it comes to potential exits.
This would be massively unpopular.
I mean, you don't really get more unpopular than selling.
One of your academy assets to a long-standing rival.
And I'm not saying that's definitely going to happen by the way.
But obviously that's there are links to it at the moment.
It is just a situation.
Now, where if after we're going to get some money in, which is going to invest in the squad.
The squad is of such a sort of size and quality now that some players are going to probably go that we don't really want to go.
And when you when you look at how the football landscape is now and where the money is and how you're going to make some good money on some players.
Unfortunately, that really sort of.
Means that you're going to have to sell to Premier League clubs because you're not just not going to get the sort of money you want from abroad.
And obviously someone like miles would be pure profit and all that stuff.
So very much help balance the books again.
I'm not saying I want it to happen.
I absolutely don't want it to happen.
But I would if it does.
I could kind of understand why that decision was made.
If you're not if he's saved a third choice left back at the moment, which he clearly is.
And if he's not reviewed as an option in the field, which to be fair.
The what was seen from the manager at the moment feels like that is not an option that make it was overly keen on.
So yeah, that's there's lots of reaction from you guys.
I wanted to share on it.
So it's been a little bit mixed.
Certainly most of it is look no charts.
We do not want this to happen.
And I can absolutely understand that because it's where I kind of stand at the moment as well.
Yeah, a GB said, I love MLS.
We can't sell him to United.
No, and soon as you go to Chelsea night or those lot.
I can only wish the worst on you in your career.
I don't want to have to do that.
With MLS Kurt says, maybe I'm like James and I love MLS too much.
But wouldn't he be the perfect third midfielder to rotate to be in rice.
And even if it if he wasn't.
Would be an awful shame if we sold him before giving it a go.
And Naz says MLS is a generational talent.
Shouldn't be sacrificing.
Capier who is a center back by trade.
He should be the left back.
Back up option for Calibur is on a totally different level to both of them.
Our managers got all Maria parking the bus and hoping for some magic.
So that's quite a lot of reactions sort of against the option of potentially selling miles to United or anyone.
But then we've got slightly different take here from skillsmen swift.
He says, I don't get why we keep doing this as a fan base selling players at the right time is part of football.
We've been poor at it for years.
Look at Madeleine Niles.
We could have taken 30 million.
We didn't.
What do we get in the end?
Nothing.
We can't keep asking for new signings every window.
But then refuse to sell anyone.
That's not how it works.
You have to generate money and evolve the squad.
And let's be real.
The main issue for a lot of people isn't even selling him.
It's who we're selling him to a direct competitor.
But if he's not starting for us, what are we actually scared of right now?
Lewis Kelly isn't first choice.
He's behind in capier Califurie and even timber can play there.
And I'll tell you clearly doesn't trust him in midfield.
So what are we holding on to potential or just the fear of him doing well somewhere else top clubs sell well.
We don't.
And it keeps costing us.
I think there's a really good breakdown of the situation to be fair.
And top clubs do sell well.
And Arsenal don't.
It's as simple as that.
They chew poor times to sell.
The mainland is a prime example of that.
And to be fair at the exact same time where Arsenal had bid to the mainland.
And I was sitting there saying, why me sell mainland Niles?
It's stupid.
It's stupid.
But then now you look back and then think clearly that was a mistake.
I'm not saying that's going to be the same for Miles Lewis Kelly.
But.
Arsenal are under pressure to sell.
It's clear.
You just have to read the last accounts that have only just been published.
It's literally there in black and white.
They've admitted themselves.
Player trading.
Player sales continues to be a massive massive problem for the club when it comes to the revenue stream.
And the losses that they're continuously making and they need to get better at it.
And I think Andre Bertha.
He was given a bit of a free pass on that last summer because the summer was all about building the squad that was capable of hopefully going on and winning the league, which hopefully they're going to go and doing the next few months.
But this summer is going to be different.
It's not going to be about building up a massive massive squad.
It's going to be about signing two or three players potentially to improve the team.
And it's going to be about bringing some needed revenue in with some good sales.
And it's not going to be easy because it's very hard as a Premier League team to sell well because of the wages, players are hard.
And if you're trying to sell abroad, other clubs don't have much money.
So sometimes there's going to be some unpopular decisions and it might mean selling homegrown English homegrown talent.
Clubs who you view as rivals look at.
I know gone at chose not English, but James made a good example of that with a gone at show Manchester United to Chelsea side transfer last summer.
And we've seen countless other examples of it as well in the recent past.
So that was some good reaction. Thank you very much for everyone for getting in sending in your views on that.
Guna Greg gets in touch. He wants to talk about the left wing is situation potentially in summary.
So aside from the dream transfer from PSG, Kevath's killer, obviously, which I also don't think will happen.
How do you rate duet from PSG compared to barcola and asked the Gordon.
Is he really an upgrade on Martin Ellie? Good in the Champions League, but not so much in the Premier League due to lack of space.
How about layout?
How do I rate duet? Brilliant.
In terms of compared to barcola that they're both excellent brilliant exceptional young talent.
So with a hope you a hope go on and achieve even bigger things in their in their career.
And I would love either of them are supposed to be fair.
Gordon's an interesting one. I do think Anthony Gordon is a good player.
Do I think he's a massive really an upgrade on Martin Ellie? I don't know.
It's a tough one to answer. I can see Gordon doing well for us.
I can see Gordon doing well under Michaela Teta.
Can I see Gordon coming in and banging in 15 goals this season, 20 goals this season,
which we really need a left side to player who can do that as a capability of doing that.
And I don't think I don't I don't see Gordon doing that.
I think Gordon being a really hard work in left wing or who press well.
I think he's got so many attributes that Arsenal do need.
But I'm with you. I don't see him as a massive upgrade on Gabriel Martin Ellie or the Android Trust side.
The only thing is that I don't see many left wingers out there who are.
And as much as we sort of complain sometimes about the output from the left hand side Arsenal got to quality.
You know, got a left wingers starting for Brazil last night.
You got a season internationally Android Trust side who when you look at his numbers over the last four or five seasons in the Premier League stack up against any left side player.
And so I don't think there's any sort of when you look at you scow at the world except for camera scale in my opinion and.
You know, a vanishes maybe or someone like that.
I don't really see somebody's definitely definitely 100% guaranteed almost injuries aside to come in and improve last on that left hand side.
So sometimes maybe you do have to go down the younger route that maybe Arsenal do have to go and try and build the next superstar by and signing you know what.
PSG did when they went out and signed do a and the side, you know, those sort of players.
Maybe that's what Arsenal need to do.
I don't think there's, you know, Liao, you talk about there. Liao's great player, exciting player.
There's a reason I think there must be a reason that no one has really gone and tried to get him out of Milan in the last few seasons.
You know.
And those are people who are far more experienced in recruitment and analytics and everything like that than I am.
It's good as you know, on the eye, I look at him and think brilliant player strong, fast.
It's got a great shot on him.
But no one's really sort of taking a punt on him yet and gone to really put any pressure on Milan to try and take him out there and I keep looking at that and thinking what why.
Why haven't they done that so I think it's hard it's going to be hard for us to improve on that left hand side in the summer.
I don't know about that.
We've got Kyle who's also talking about it. He says, I'm bored of our signing players who make the squad better.
I want us to go outside world class player this window.
Kabat Scalier is that Gordon by color type signings are fine, but they just improve the squad.
They are world beaters.
We need a bit of a freshen up in attack and I want a marquee signing.
So again, that's kind of what I'm just been talking about though.
You know, Kabat Scalier is definitely that there's no doubt about that in my mind.
Kabat Scalier improves Arsenal measurably.
Fantastic player.
But I don't think Arsenal can get Kabat Scalier.
I don't think PSG we have any interest in selling Kabat Scalier.
And so you've got to look elsewhere.
And I'm not sure there is that, you know, sort of world class guaranteed world class world beaters.
You describe in their Kyle.
Definitely out there.
And so maybe you've got to look at.
As I said, a more up and coming type player who might be the, you know, in Jai, for example, Everton,
I think it's a fantastic player.
Could he, is he ready to take the next step and sort of suddenly become this superstar player play like that?
Maybe I don't know.
But it's an interesting one that we'll obviously discuss a lot.
I imagine as we head further and further towards the summer window.
But that is it for me today, everyone.
Thank you for watching.
Thank you for listening.
Appreciate your time.
As always, I'll be back tomorrow to do it all over again.
Fingers crossed.
Everyone stay healthy.
