The mix pulled within two points of the thunder with six minutes to play in OKC yesterday,
but then the defending champs locked in and went on a 14 to three warrant round of it.
The thunder pulling away in the clutch against New York, J. Dubb was great in this game.
He was fantastic.
SGA closed this game strong in the clutch with a dagger right to New York.
The thunder start 2 and 0 on this homestand and you look at it.
It is going to be a very tight race between them in San Antonio for this one seed out West
and the thunder were fully healthy for the first time all year.
The only injury on the injury report is Thomas Sober being out.
New York only without Landry Shamit tonight.
The thunder starters of SGA, Dubb, Jett, I heart.
They played their first home game together since December 28th.
The ball hadn't even dropped yet.
We were still in 2025.
The last time that Shade, Dubb, Jett and I heart started a game together inside the
Pay Com Center.
And the thunder started out great in this game and they finished great.
This was a professional win for Oklahoma City.
This was the difference in the thunder and New York.
New York played a really good game as well.
New York didn't have a ton of things go wrong for them in this game.
They just were outclassed and outmatched by Oklahoma City.
New York's sub bonafide contender in the East Oklahoma City is one of the NBA title favorites.
If not the title favorite.
But their defense was not letting New York get anything easy in this game and that
really continued the entire way for Oklahoma City.
Brunson was awesome tonight and he had the work for everything.
He was very crafty.
He was a typical cap kind of night.
I don't think the thunder could have done anything better on Brunson than what they
did.
He just happens to be really awesome and by the same token, the reason this game stayed
so close was that Oklahoma City missed some great locks and balls that didn't bounce
their way halfway home, rimming out just opportunities where you look at the process.
You look at the shot quality and you really like it for Oklahoma City against a really
good New York defense.
But the thunder were able to dominate the paint in this game for the majority of it and
they end up that way as well in the final tally and using that 9-2 run in this game to
start it out.
It really told the story of how this game would flow.
The thunder go up 9-2 and New York comes right back with a 7-0 run to tie the game due
to those missed shots and due to the next making.
It's really difficult shots, including one word, where J-Dub slaps the hand of Brunson
and he still knocks down a nothing but that three.
But at the end of the day, the thunder were able to weather the storm at times and these
runs from New York and keep them at bay and that's what good teams do.
That's what's a professional win about this one.
Because at the thunder, really imposed their will at times in this contest and kept New
York in an arm's length.
I liked the rotations today, letting Shay play with Jared McCain, Cason Wallace, AJ Mitchell
J. Whale.
That was the first wave of rotation.
Some really great offensive processing skills in this one and then you saw to start the
second quarter.
That's when OKC took it up a notch initially or Mike Brown had to call a time out before
even a minute expires on that second quarter clock.
And OKC was just getting whatever they wanted to down though.
It was a J-Dub cut.
It was a, it was not, I say, a heart and stone roll to the rim.
And Mike Brown had seen enough.
He wanted to chew out his club.
And to their credit, they responded to him.
And the next created some advantages in this one.
And that's what I spent the majority of this game thinking about both the rotations because
the second quarter, it was Mitchell, Joe, J-Dub, Caruso, I-Hart.
There was a lot of fun things that marked right out.
Even in the fourth quarter, it starts with AJ, Joe, Caruso, Chat, I-Hart.
Because J-Dub had put on the bike and put on the minute restriction.
And I thought that Mark walked that line so well of the rotations of the minute restriction
for J-Dub and trying to find what was going to work, and especially trying to find
the lineups for Shay against a very good defense to try to get him going.
I thought all that was really great, but besides the rotations, which will kind of be a lingering
thing for the Thunder, the rest of the way here.
You look at this and you think, well, New York's a good team.
And New York's playing good basketball throughout this game.
But they just don't feel on the same playing field as Oklahoma City.
And the next can create advantages against OKC, it's just that everything has to go perfect
to be able to do it.
Their advantages are going to be their offensive rebounding ability, the force of Thunder
to get two, three stops on a possession.
And that's going to, that's what work tonight for New York is that offensive rebounding
ability whenever they kept this game close for the entire contest.
There's a great game.
And New York needs to avoid light ball turnovers, which is a thing for everybody.
And if they can do those two things, then you look at it and you say, well, you know
what?
Like if New York can avoid light ball turnovers, if they can dominate the offensive glass,
then the last thing remaining is really a three point shot variance.
And the Thunder could not get three to fall, and they could not control the glass early
on.
And that's what led it to be so tight with a one point lead for OKC at intermission.
And when they grab some control at the end of the third quarter, and then stack those
stops and got buckets on the other end, then it became a ability for the Thunder to kind
of stiff arm the York, the rest of the way.
And going back to the advantages that New York can kind of create, it's Brunson.
He's got to play, he's got to play this level every single time.
The footwork was there, the body control was there, the difficult shot making was there
for Brunson.
And another thing that New York can do is that they force you to be disciplined and strong
in your point of attack defense.
The Thunder did not foul tonight and didn't get called for fouls tonight.
But whenever New York is able to free up a driver on the perimeter, it forces your base
to step up.
And you might think to yourself, especially if you're Oklahoma City, well, shot is a great
shot blocker.
Him stepping up is a good thing.
I heart stepping up to absorb that driver is a good thing.
Well, the problem is, even if the next get a free driver and your big steps up and they
throw up a quote unquote bad shot, it's actually just setting something else in motion.
Because now you're big who stepped up because of your lack of put up attack defense.
He's now at a position for the rebound.
Now it's a free shot at the rim after that quote unquote bad shot.
And it just is a way to manipulate a really good Thunder defense.
And that's another advantage that New York can have.
But you see how difficult it is to combine all of this at once, to combine all of this
into one singular game and do it for 48 minutes.
And I think that that's what makes these two teams feel like they're on different playing
surfaces right now, because the Thunder can do it for 48 minutes.
And we're not so certain New York can.
They had great counter punches in this game, talking about the nine to two counter punches
that they threw on the 7-0 run in the first quarter, talking about the early time out
in the second quarter.
And their ability to close that second quarter and get it to a one point game going into
half time.
Talking about that punch they threw at the start of the fourth quarter, where in that
non-shame minutes, and the Thunder didn't have jade about there because of that minute
restriction, the nicks were able to go on their own run and get it back within one point
during those non-shame minutes in the fourth quarter.
It was turnovers and miss shots that pledged Oklahoma City during that stretch.
The Thunder had so many clean looks tonight that just didn't fall.
And even in a game where not a few people stand out in the box score and you don't feel
like you played your best, you don't feel like you capitalized on as much as you could
of tonight.
What mattered was what happened down the stretch of this game.
What happened down the stretch of this game was the Thunder outmatched New York.
They wanted it more.
They had better attention to the detail.
They had better execution.
They had a better motor down the stretch of this game.
And they got this win late at one point, the Thunder had a 13 point lead in this game.
New York could only grow a one point advantage, which again kind of tells the story of the
Thunder fending off New York all game long.
Two lead changes four ties in this one.
The Thunder only lost three by the battle by 41 to 39, which I thought was impressive.
New York had some pivotal ones though in that small disparity.
But New York did have 18 turnovers in this game compared to O.K.C.'s 13, which did help
O.K.C., who was a plus 14 in the paint.
And also the Thunder won second chance points 20 to 16, which I found alarming 28 to 16.
O.K.C. won second chance points, especially early on it felt like New York was going to
run away with that category.
The Thunder dominate in fast break and a night where they just could not shoot and a night
where even whenever they got to their spots and got what they wanted in the half court,
the shots were not going down.
They turned defense into offense and got this win 15 to four in the fast break category.
The Thunder shoot 46% from the floor compared to New York's 43.
Thunder shoot 35% from three compared to New York's 42.
The Thunder shoot 81% at the free throw line compared to New York's 76.
O.K.C. wins bench points, wins points to the paint, wins the free throw battle and percentage,
wins the turnover battle, wins transition points, wins second chance points and is able
to get the win because of what they didn't clutch because they were led by SGA who did
not have a complete game, who did not have one of his best games of this season.
But he makes you remember what happened down the stretch.
He kind of washes away what was a below standard game.
And at times throughout this early portion, a pretty bad shade game early on.

Welcome back to the Big Three in 30 NBA.
The Celtics went up early and then coasted the rest of the way to win over the Hornets
in Charlotte last night.
John Corralis goes over the biggest contributors on Locked On Celtics.
We got to start though with Jason Tatum, who was amazing.
Very first possession that he got.
He drives, goes up for the dunk, gets the big swing, hang, dry light.
It was the most explosive play we've seen from him this season.
And right away, I was like, oh, that was.
That was more explosive than we've seen him.
This bodes well.
And then from there, it was just everything working for him.
This was the most Jason Tatum that we've seen Jason Tatum.
And not just him scoring, attacking, rebounding, passing all of that stuff.
It was the Jason Tatum confidence.
It was the Jason Tatum swagger.
A lot of times in these games, in these first 10 games that we've seen him play, he's
looked, you know, he's had like the little celebrations.
He's done a little three point thing and then just kind of, you know, those little things.
But he's also looked gassed, winded.
He's looked frustrated at times.
He's looked not quite, when we say not quite himself, he hasn't looked like his usual kind
of, you know, Jason Tatum, I'm the best player in the world, Jason Tatum kind of feel.
In this game, he was, he was, he had that, that look in his eye.
He felt better.
He looked better.
It was, it was really incredible to watch.
He had 32 points, five rebounds, five assists in the game.
And he just, right away was, was on it, nine points in the first quarter.
He had 11 in the second quarter.
He had seven in the third.
And in the fourth quarter, he comes in after the early run.
So I'll get to Jordan Walsh's defense, but the, the Celtics and Jordan Walsh were able
to hold off Lamello Ball and really bother him and look, Charlotte was on the back-to-back,
so a little bit of that going on too.
But the, the defense on, on Lamello was, was really good until the fourth quarter where
Lamello got going, right?
He scores 12 points in the fourth quarter.
But Tatum comes in and just slams the door and, and finished, finishes things off.
You also get contributions from Pritchard, who I'll get to, but to see Tatum attack and
hit shots and make, make plays, just read the floor.
He's reading the floor really, really well.
When they blitzed, he draw to the double team.
He invites the double team and gets rid of it.
When they're in drop, he attacks it.
When they're, when they're at the level, he just reads the floor and knows what, what to
do.
He understands what plays to make.
So this, this was just a, a great Tatum performance.
And ultimately, he, the beauty of it is he did it in less than 31 minutes, because he
didn't have to come back in in the fourth quarter.
And he was questionable with the, the Achilles management, however they listed it, right?
Achilles repair management or whatever.
I don't expect him to play in the back-to-back against Atlanta.
I think would be kind of pushing it a little bit.
There's no reason to go and push it that far.
The Celtics, not only, I'm recording this, there's a minute 35 to go in the OKC New York
game.
And it's an 11 point game.
So that game is essentially over.
And the Celtics will have a two and a half game lead on New York.
And they still have one game to play.
There's a lot of pad there.
It's going to be very difficult.
I think there'll be seven games left for the Knicks.
And to make up two and a half games and those seven is, is very tough.
So the Celtics will have a very strong hold on that second seed.
And if they beat the Knicks on April 9th, by then it might even be, it might even be
figured out.
And the Celtics might have that in hand.
But there's no real need to play Tatum.
In fact, no Jalen Brown in this game with the left Achilles tendon ice.
I've talked about that.
I don't think that's a big deal.
I think they're just giving him a little bit of rest.
Joe Masula keeps saying it's day to day.
He's on the trip.
If it was serious, I don't know if he would have been on the trip.
To stay back and gotten the treatment and no need to go up and down in a plane and pressurized
cabins, which can mess with the inflammation, right?
They can encourage a little bit of inflammation.
So I think he would have just sat at home if it was a big deal.
We may see Jalen play against Atlanta and Tatum sit.
Tatum loves playing in Charlotte.
He went to Duke.
It's not that far from Charlotte.
So I think let Tatum play in the place he loves.
Let Jalen play in the place he loves because he's home in Atlanta.
And you just move on.
Then everybody goes to Miami and has some fun.
But we may not see Tatum in Atlanta.
But to see him in this game, it was incredible.
14,000 points now, 14,000 career points for Tatum.
So congratulations to him for that.
He is now the ninth player to reach 14,000 points in Boston, Celtic's history.
Jalen Brown will soon become the tenth.
He just crossed 13,000.
So next year, Jalen should easily reach 14,000.
So I'm reading this from Dick Light from NBC Sports Boston.
Tatum, youngest player in franchise history to reach the 14,000 point milestone.
He did it in, let's say, a few months younger than Paul Pierce.
He did it in the second fewest games.
596, Larry Burr did it in 582.
And that's just incredible.
Just incredible bit of history there for Tatum.
So congratulations to Tatum on that.
I'm just incredibly shocked.
What do you want me to say about what Jason Tatum has been?
He came back, was it three weeks ago?
Three weeks ago?
Three weeks in a day or two?
Come on.
There's no way, no way.
If you had told me, OK, this is the day Tatum's coming back.
And by the end of the month, he's going to be playing 35, 36 minutes.
And he'll have a 35 and 5 game in him.
I'd be like, you're crazy.
And I'm the guy that said that he would come back exactly when he came back.
I'd been saying early March for months since like the summer.
I was saying, Tatum could come back in early March.
I knew he was going to come back in early March.
And even that, even I, who was the eternal Tatum optimist in his return from this injury,
I never, ever would have thought 35 and 5, three weeks after coming back, playing 35,
36 minutes, three weeks after coming back.
This is the most amazing return from injury that I've ever seen in basketball.
There may be some in other sports I don't, I can't, I honestly have not, there are, I'm
plenty of sports I just don't even pay attention to anymore.
So for Tatum to come back this soon and also this well changes so much.
Because my whole thing was he'll come back, he'll take some time to ramp up, he'll have
some real rough games.
I was expecting a lot of these games to be rough, you know, like nine points, four rebounds,
two of 14 shooting, 15 minutes, types of games.
Just as he got back to his wind and all that stuff, the recovery, the stuff that he did
that none of us saw all of that, getting to this point, I'm amazed, shocked, blown away,
this is shocking.
Now here we are a couple of weeks away from the playoffs, a few weeks away from the playoffs,
April 18th or 19th.
So we're basically three weeks away from the playoffs and I don't even know what to expect
from Tatum.
I keep saying, yeah, he's not going to be himself, he's going to be a little less than
what he is or is he or is he, I mean, I can't imagine that he's going to play 34, I mean,
I have like 40 something minutes of game, but who might have said he won't anymore.
I don't know what's happening anymore.
Whatever my thoughts are for the Celtics, I've just got to take it to five steps past
whatever the most optimistic thing that I can come up with.
It's ridiculous.
Like the stuff that I would sit there over at the beginning of the season, be like, well,
you're just an incredible optimist, people, people said, I think they can win 50 games
like that's just impossible with this team, everything would have to go right and everything's
gone right.
Everything's gone right.
Jason Tatum is at the head of that list right now, everything has gone right for a guy
coming off in Achilles, everything has gone right and here he is, 32, 5 and 5.
Get out of here, man, that's incredible.

Welcome back to the big three in 30 NBA.
The Raptors destroyed the magic last night, finishing with a 52 point win over Orlando.
That means Zulfi Sheik and Dwayne notice have plenty of flowers to give out on Lockdown
Raptors.
The way this was undoubtedly a must win game for the Raptors point blank, a win meant gaining
half a game of the hawks not just for fifth in the east, but also gaining a three game
lead over their Orlando magic, as well as the season tie breaker, which could end up
mattering depending on how these last eight or so games go.
And boy did the Raptors take care of business in this one and they did it even without
a manual quickly.
Brandon Ingram and Colin Murray boils relate scratches from this game and then so was
James and battle who's out with an illness.
But despite that, they still got the job done eight guys scored in double figures, Scotty
Barnes led the way with 23 and 15 his 28 double double the season.
RJ had 24 mama with 19 off the bench, the magic shot under 38% from the field.
That was gross.
And all of which equal a 52 point win for the Raptors and I don't need to check the
stats here.
I'm almost positive.
That was one of the largest victories of the season of any team in the NBA Dwayne.
What did you make of that?
And also what the hell have you ever seen anything that lopsided?
We had Jamal shed with a breakaway dunk in this game.
We saw everything from the Raptors.
That's how crazy you got.
Yeah, it was a crazy game to say to Lizzie.
I mean, you talk about it.
But this might be the first time this season I've seen the Raptors put together a complete
basketball game from start to finish.
And they're leading the basketball game.
They did not let that go.
So shout to them for doing that.
But you mentioned that this is a good old fashioned BTB or man built up behind the Toronto
Raptors showed up for their home crowd and it's awesome to see them.
The next man up mentality we talk about AJ lost and other guys can get chance to play
a great, you dick showcasing himself as well.
But man, the way that Scotty was just so intentional, he led the charge from the beginning.
I don't know if the Orlando Madden's hit King Street last night, but they were definitely
discombobulated.
They were not in it.
I mean, credit the Raptors defense for the way they were able to just stick to the
scouting report.
And they were able to lock in and have that discipline, but it was a great win from the
Raptors.
I think Darko should be very happy with the effort that they put forth today on Sunday.
And I think that the Raptors do have a lot to look at going forward just positively and
take away from this game.
But the way they're able to share the ball, you talked about the stats.
You look at the stats.
It looks like video game numbers.
It looks like this is the kind of 2K numbers you talk about.
I mean, the 41 assists is incredible.
The rebound disparity.
You talk about the turnovers.
I mean, 27 journals for Orlando is like, come on, bro, what are we doing?
The game sliders are up for the Raptors in favor of the Toronto Raptors.
And you want to see them continue to even shot the ball well from the three point line.
So seeing the Raptors check off the boxes from every angle, I think has been great.
But for them, they cannot let their foot off the gas and the seasons come into the end.
They have to figure out a way to put this together consistently.
Yeah, it was interesting because when the Raptors went into halftime with a sizable lead,
I think everyone's mind went to the same thing.
Like, are they going to come out a bit flatter than you would hope in the second half?
Is Orlando going to make a bit of a charge and kind of get back into this game?
Because we've seen it from the Raptors before, where they've shown dominant efforts
in certain stretches, in quarters.
But they haven't necessarily been able to keep it together for the full 48.
So I love that you made that point that tonight was 48 minutes of BTB, like you said,
belt to behind.
The Raptors put up a franchise record 20 steals.
We'll talk a bit more about their defense and what they're able to accomplish.
It was just, like you said, an all-around effort granted their land of magic,
definitely made things easier on the Raptors.
God, that, like I said, that was some ugliness you mentioned it.
I don't know what the hell they did yesterday, but clearly,
I need to stop doing that before games.
Paolo Bankero, who I've actually been a big fan of and an advocate for in the NBA,
he had an ugly ugly knife.
Fish is with nine points on three of 14 shooting, five turnovers.
Some of these passes by their land of magic.
You're just like, what are you guys thinking?
And the Raptors, to their credit, took complete advantage of that.
And clearly, that was part of the game plan and the conversations they had
with Dark River Archivic heading into this game.
And another conversation they had with Dark River Archivic was something he said
during a timeout that completely turned the tides in this game.
So I think it's time we talk about it in our turning point.
Time to reveal where the game was once or last.
It's the turning point.
I'd wait to set the scene.
The Raptors were trailing 13 to 6 at the 802 mark of the first quarter.
Spacing seemed a little janky.
Things weren't flowing necessarily.
Darker calls a timeout.
Now, I don't know what the hell he said.
But whatever he said, I hope he wrote it down so you can keep using it.
Because from there, the Raptors not only outscored the Orlando Magic 32 to 7
to end the quarter, go up into the second quarter with an 18 point lead.
But the snowball, the avalanche continued from there.
And the Raptors end up going on a 31 to nothing run.
As I say that, that doesn't even sound real.
Because that is actually an NBA record.
They break the previous record that was held by the Dallas Mavericks,
which coincidentally, or Asia lost the most part of that run as well.
But that was set a couple of years ago.
It's the largest ever run by a basketball team
since they start tracking this stuff nearly 30 years ago.
So 31, nothing run by the Raptors.
The Orlando Magic go, I want to say eight minutes without scoring a field goal.
The Raptors during that span, you talk about the turnovers.
They forced 15 turnovers for 18 points.
Most teams don't put up 15 turnovers in a game.
The Raptors forced 15 in that eight to 10 minutes span
for 18 points and just to put a nail on the coffin here.
At the 530 mark of the first quarter, the Raptors are down 20 to 14.
When that 31 nothing run ended, it was 943 in the second.
And the Raptors are up 45 to 20.
You go from down six to up 25.
That's what kind of avalanche we saw from the Raptors.
Again, almost nothing like I've ever seen before.
It was so impressive how they were turning defense into offense
and just running and gunning.
What did you make of all that?
I thought it was incredible to see them do that.
Just a commitment, like you said.
The response they had to Darko is great to see at the end of the season
that they're fighting for their coach.
You mentioned to him calling a timeout
just to routing the troops and they responded very well.
But for them, just being anticipated,
like they're anticipation today
within a high level, they're able to get in so many passing lanes.
I think that Scottie just anchored the defensive event.
We've seen it, we've talked about it all year.
Obviously Webby's probably the favorite for the defensive player of the year.
But man, Scottie does so much on that
and his value is insurmountable.
I mean, you cannot speak about it enough.
But I think the fact that they're able to get out and transition play fast
is a reason why they're able to have the assist count so high.
And then God's like RJ Barrett, man,
just relentless the backdoor cuts to unselfish play.
But like you mentioned, that run was incredible to see.
And we haven't seen it.
I felt like in real time that the magic hadn't scored in like half an hour of real time.
That's how long it felt.
But the Raptors is doing their job, man.
You go into a timeout.
You listen to what the coach has to say.
He rallies the troops to come out.
You implement it.
You execute it and they didn't look back.
So for the Raptors, just understand that cohesiveness,
that reset, that ability to just talk about things, communicate,
and then implement it and adjust and apply those adjustments.
I think it was great.
But the Raptors is going downhill, being efficient in the paint.
We talked about just the unselfishness.
But how many times does Scottie just have his eyes at the rim, man?
The fact that he was finishing at such a high level speaks to what we spoke about earlier
in previous podcasts about just him being more aggressive.
And he really set the tone just a whole bunch of drives going to the bass game,
just finishing on defenders.
I think was just a real energy boost for the team.
You know, it's like when I'm finishing in the paint.
The Raptors put up 82 points in the paint.
They were plus 44 in that category.
Again, you talked about video game numbers against the jazz
and like giving your little brother the controller or whatever.
Like this is that on steroids.
Tonight, these numbers were insane.
But the point you brought up there really wanted to touch back on was the guys playing
for Dark Ryakovich.
The reason why I bring that up and not just the time out, but it was clear early in this game.
Dark Ryakovich was searching.
He was searching for the right guys to put in the right combinations.
Because like I said, no IQ, no Ben and Ingram, no Colin Murray boils.
These are two starters, sometimes three, obviously three key rotation players.
And then arguably one of your best three point shooters off the bench in Jameson Battle.
And these are late scratches.
So you have to adjust on the fly.
Now in some capacity, especially getting close to the playoffs, a coach can say,
you know what, I'm just going to lean all the way in all my starters.
Scotty Barnes, you have to do everything and granted he did.
But it's not like Darko forced this guy to play 48 minutes tonight.
He ended up giving Grady Dick really early minutes in this game in the first quarter.
Again, AJ Lawson was actually really monumental for that 31, nothing won.
He had a couple of threes in that and he had a really good defense.
Elijah Martin got in during that run as well.
So he ended up going the opposite way where he's like,
I'm going to give all these guys an opportunity to show me something.
And like you said, they played for him.
They showed him something and they kind of fit within what the rappers want to do stylistically.
And that's how they were able to take over this game.
We've talked about it again and again when the raptors are running, they're at their best.
What do they do?
They commit to the defensive end like we've talked about force turnovers, generate quality
offense.
They end up forcing 27 turnovers for the game for 37 points.
Like I already mentioned, 20 steals.
Five guys had three or more steals in this game for the rappers, which is insane.
And then 39 fast break points.
There are a plus 22 in that category.
Like that's exactly the raptors basketball needs to be.
And Dark Ariacovic has said before, this is a,
and I said it before as well, where this is a difficult way to play sometimes because it's exhausting.
And how do you go about maximizing it?
You get as many contributors as you can.
